Reviews From Our Guests

“Decided to take a back road trip in PA and came upon the bus tour with The Amish Village. The staff were very pleasant and got all 7 of us on the last tour bus. Our Guide Wayne was extremely knowledgeable about the area and the life of the Amish families there. I was very impressed and my grand kids ages 8 and 6 surprisingly listened intently and asked questions. I also learned several things that I was not aware of. If given the chance I would repeat this tour and I would also recommend to my friends and other family to take it as well.”

“This is a very interesting tour to take that’s also family friendly. I took my 2 children both under 5 and they had a great time learning and feeding the animals. Would highly recommend it.”

“Our tour guide was local. She’s very knowledgeable about the Amish way of life. We enjoyed our bus tour to the Amish farm and those nice freshly baked warm buttery pretzels are to die for. Made our trip a memorable one.”

“We did the house & village tour as well as the bus tour and it was all very interesting & informative. Everyone in the village & on the bus tour were very friendly. The bus driver went out of his way to show & explain about the Amish houses and the English houses and show things with descriptions about the homes & schools. We stopped at an Amish store & were able to purchase some foods that the lady had made(sticky buns, ketchup, whoopie pies, pickles and all were delicious!!! The tour of the Amish home was very informative. My granddaughters 12 & 14 also enjoyed the tour, the bus ride, & feeding the animals in the barn area around the village. Would highly recommend if you have 3 hours to spend in Lancaster & I recommend doing all the parts of the tour!!”

“Our office took a group of international students from different countries all over the world to hear about an interesting part of our culture that takes place right here in Lancaster County. Though, it was a little cold, the students had a blast! It was such a great experience. Highly recommend!”

A friend & I stayed on Friday 10/15 for an early AM Millersville University Homecoming event. The employee (am unsure of his name) handling check-in was friendly & very efficient, despite being the only one at the busy front desk area! Actually, the entire staff we encountered all were:) Our room was a 2Q, non-smoking room on the 2nd floor. It was very clean, comfortable! & quiet. Being so close to campus made it a perfect location! We plan to stay there again when we have some more time to enjoy the hospitality & amenities. Of note, we ate at their restaurant (Loxley's), which was also busy, but delicious and worth the wait:) Thank you:)

  • Sleep Quality

Staff were decent. Hard to find the front desk. When I arrived there was zero parking spots between the hotel, resturant and conference. Sadly they only provide housekeeping serivce if you stay more than 7 days. We stayed 4. No breakfast. The pool was nice but no towels are provided. Air conditioning was poor in the above adverage temps. Defintaly needs to be remodled. Not worth the money at all!

rooms are dated but clean, cool restaurant bar with treehouse. Front desk attendant had a bad attitude. Would stay here again in a pinch but there are better options closer to spooky nook. Self parking which was nice.

  • Cleanliness

The ONLY reason I'm giving any stars is because the food at the restaurant was good and the bed was comfortable. Now for the BAD- I booked a KING room with 1 KING sized bed on 6-5 through booking.com which I have used for over 3 years to stay at over 20 hotels and have never had an issue. Most hotels don't require you to pay up front until you arrive for check in however this hotel required payment up front. Room was booked and PAID for on 6-5 for 6-25 and check out on 6-26. We arrived for our stay on Friday 6-25 and wandered around the hotel aimlessly which was very confusing before we finally arrived at the front desk. After waiting awkwardly for over 10 minutes with no one to be seen a very flamboyant gentleman eventually arrived to check us in. Everything seemed fine, we received our keys and instructions and were prepared to walk to our room. At the last second the gentleman said there was a "problem" and we needed to hold on. We asked what the issue was and the gentleman literally stared at his computer screen for an entire 15 minutes with no reply while people lined up behind us. I was asked if i still had my card on hand and that he would need to run it again but " I WILL NOT BE CHARGED and the issue will be handled in the morning, but ultimately the problem is between me and the third party" without giving any details. After over 30 minutes from the time we arrived my wife and I finally get to our room to find we were given a small room with 2 Queen sized beds, again - i had paid up front for a KING room with KING sized bed over 2 weeks ahead of time. Due to all the hassle, i decided not to complain as it seemed like the previous gentleman was the ONLY employee working at the time and I didn't want to deal with him again. The next morning we go to check out and i explain all my frustration to the friendly woman now working behind the desk. I was assured i would not be charged again and the issue is not my fault but no explanation for why i was given the wrong room. Later that morning at Breakfast I check my bank account and I was indeed charged another $189.00 on my card. I called the hotel to inform them the money had been taken out of my bank account and was told they accidently charged a "pre-authorization" but no money was taken. 3 days later the money was still gone out of my account. I called back one more time to ask what was going on and a different woman answered. I was told " we didn't take anything from you, its now between you and your bank. Thankfully after 5 days the charge dropped and money was refunded into my account. My wife and I are young adults who just bought a home and almost 200 bucks being tied up for a little less then a week was a big hassle. I was made to feel like it was my fault. First it was a problem with booking.com, then my bank? The common denominator here was the hotel. By the way, who doesn't use a website or app to book a room these days, I'm sure more then 50% of their guests use "third-parties"

We stayed at the Heritage Hotel for two nights. We were part of a bus trip that was visiting the Lancaster area. We were promptly greeted and given two breakfast buffet vouchers. The rooms were clean, but the bathroom is small. The breakfast buffet in the morning was delicious with plenty of options! Overall it was a very comfortable stay!

See What People Are Saying

My wife and I toured the grounds, buildings and display of the farm, but due to time constraints not the house. Our bus tour was very detailed and informative. This was our third visit to the Lancaster area over the past 25 years and this was the best guided tour we've had. The tour guide was "English" but was a life long resident of the area. He explained and discussed all facets of Amish life and history. I came away with a much deeper understanding of the Amish community and their way of life. There are many options for taking various types of tours in the area, but if you're looking a thoroughly educational tour of the Amish community, take this tour!

Colonial Beach, USA : robertfP379NI

My boyfriend and I did the bus and farm tour and it was a great way to kick off our weekend trip to Lancaster! Our guide, Debbie was very knowledgeable about not only Amish traditions and culture but also the families that lived in the neighborhood. She showed us around an Amish family’s farm (with their permission of course!) and she taught us about buggies and farm life. She was also happy to answer any questions that we came up with. We made a couple stops at Amish-owned businesses and I got to try the most delicious soft pretzel of my life and buy homemade apple butter for my mom. The self-guided farm tour back at the Amish Farm and House property was very nice too! It had lots of different animals (even alpacas!), a nice scenic walking path, a scooter run, and other cool things to check out. We had a really nice time and we learned a lot!

Safety First

Keeping you safe.

The bus tours will be at full capacity of 14 passengers.

Just returned from our 2nd trip with Sam. The entire trip was well planned and executed to perfection. The bus was so comfortable and the bus driver did a superior job. Very nice accommodations and good food along the way; not to mention several surprises and many treats. Sam thinks of everything to make the trip a memorable one! Where to next Sam?

Ken and Linda Roberts

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip with Sam to the creation museum and ark encounter. Sam is the most generous tour guide I have had the privilege of traveling with and we have been on many different bus tours in the past. We watched Sam humble himself to serve us in many different ways from helping serve food at a country bbq pit, to passing out waters and snacks on the bus and collecting the trash. He always made himself available to help anyone at all times. We never had to wonder where he went. Mr. Fun Country is a name that fits him well. He made our trip fun and stress free.

Bill and Becky Steele

What a GREAT tour to the Ark and Creation museum!!! The BEST bus tour I've ever been on thanks to Sam's friendliness and planning. He could not do enough to make us all comfortable and cared for. I highly recommend Fun Country Tours!!!! Thank you, Sam, for a wonderful and memorable time!!!

Mary Ginder

Thank you so much for the very well-planned trip, with well-timed breaks, good food, and excellent suggestions for optimal use of our time at the Ark Encounter/Creation Museum/Flight 93 Memorial. We also appreciated the affordability of this trip, the fun of having families with children on board, the daily devos with Piercing Word Min, and honoring the Lord with worship time on Sunday. Thank you for all your effort!

Barry and Flo Rebert

WOW, what an AWESOME trip to the Ark and the Creation Museum! We are so thankful we chose Fun Country Tours for our trip. Sam (Mr. Fun Country) is so knowledgeable and was willing to go extra miles to make our trip enjoyable and educational. He helped everyone plan each day to get the most out of our time and not miss anything we wanted to see or do. We didn't have to worry about any detail, our meals, our hotel, our breaks, everything was planned perfectly. And with a gracious spirit and willing hand of help. My granddaughter (11 years old) said it was the best ever vacation, better than Disney! We were blessed and encouraged. Thank you, Mr. Fun Country, for a truly wonderful trip!
