Ed Sheeran is a singer-songwriter from Suffolk, England. Known for his hybrid pop and R&B sound, which mixes his soulful lyrics with his mellow voice, Ed Sheeran has found extensive fame across all corners of the globe.

At the tender age of 14, Ed Sheeran began recording music and independently released his first collection of songs “The Orange Room EP”. It was after his move to London in 2008, though, that his music career really began to take off due to the release of his “Loose Change EP”, which featured future megahit single “The A Team”.

Prepared to graft from the very start, Ed Sheeran played 312 gigs in 2009 in addition to constantly releasing new material on his YouTube channel. These gigs and his widespread social media following caught the attention of Jamie Foxx, Elton John and Example. Further to this, his hard work won thousands of fans, who would show up at any small gigs he was playing. Knowing they were on to a good thing, Asylum/Atlantic Records quickly signed Ed Sheeran to their label after the release of his popular “No. 5 Collaborations Project” EP.

Ed Sheeran’s debut studio album “+” entered at number one in the UK charts after Ed secured four top ten singles in a row from the album. An opportunity to break into the US market soon came about after Ed was given the opportunity to tour with the band Snow Patrol.

Licensing of his music to television shows, and collaborations with One Direction on their song “Moments” and with Taylor Swift on the song “Everything Has Changed” paved the way for Ed Sheeran’s second studio album “x” (pronounced ‘multiply’) to hit the number one position in both the UK and the US charts.

Despite being so early in his career, Ed has already been nominated for three Grammy Awards and was the recipient of a 2012 Ivor Novello Award for “The A Team”. With these successes under his belt, Ed Sheeran’s star can only continue to rise.

Live reviews

Great show! I bought my wife and I tickets as a gift for her (she was a huge Ed Sheeran fan even before he was famous) and we had a great time. My wife had never been to the venue, and while I had been to shows at Consol Enery Center before this was the first show I saw there since it became PPG Paints Arena. Everything about the production and performances (lights, audio, visuals, crew, musicians etc) went off with nary a hitch and was executed in a very timely manner. Props to all involved.

James Blunt opened, and like many people there (as he joked) I only knew one of his songs: "You're Beautiful". He was funny, charismatic, a good showman, and a good sport. He put on a high quality emotion filled performance, and despite his music being on the sadder side still managed to pump everyone up for Ed Sheeran. "Don't Give Me Those Eyes" was a highlight. He hung out in the Captain Morgan lounge after his performance and invited anyone interested to come hang with him. I came in not really knowing who he was and left checking out his latest music and regretting not grabbing a beer with him.

Than Ed came out (my wife had a pinch me I'm dreaming moment). He was noticeably quieter and a bit more reserved than Blunt when addressing the audience, but quickly dove in. I was always aware Ed was a talented solo artist, but you really appreciate his talent on a different level when you actually hear him perform outside of a studio live with just him and a guitar. Most of his songs were studio quality. A few songs dipped in quality but for charming and understandable reasons like audience involvement and impressive sped-up improv (i.e. the "Don't" and "New Man" mashup). He played nearly all the songs my wife and I were looking for ("Perfect", "A-Team", "Galway Girl", "Nancy Mulligan", "Thinking Out Loud", etc.). Since this was the "Divide" tour he played almost every song off that album (but not all: no "Barcelona", "Bibia be ye ye", etc.) He also played a lot of his older songs, including an audience request for "Cold Coffee" (he stated it was the first time he performed it live since 2010-2011). I also liked how he put on a Pittsburgh Penguins jersey during his closing song "You Need Me and I Don't Need You".

TLDR it was one of the best shows I have seen.

It is safe to say that Ed Sheeran will be one of the defining artists of our generation. His music transcends any definable genre, combining soft folk with bright pop and grime hip-hop. Sheeran's clever wordplay and soulful lyrics are able to really captivate an audience, both when listening to him live or on a CD. One of the most salient qualities about him though, is his pure, unaltered, truly beautiful voice. It is hard to really visualize how great he sounds until you see him live. I was lucky enough to see him at a small, intimate performance with a crowd of only about 100. The first thing you notice about him is that it is just him up on stage. There is no band, no backing vocals, no track playing in the background or anything. It is him, a guitar, and a loop pedal. From the moment he struck the first chord until the moment he stepped off stage, the audience was enchanted by him. His voice can transport you from an old pub in Ireland to the grimy streets of London without ever missing a beat. A real troubadour, his shining moments are the ballads in which soaring vocals and romantic lyrics backed by the simple strum of his Little Martin cause major swooning.

It was evident to me that Sheeran deserves all of the attention he gets and more; his talent is truly undeniable, even if he isn't your favorite. He is so incredibly down-to-Earth, as well. I was able to meet him after he performed and he genuinely cared about what I had to say to him. He was warm, friendly, funny, and exceedingly normal. He's someone that you would want to hang out and watch TV with.

With his new album "x" (pronounced "multiply") Sheeran shows how much he has grown as an artist since the release of his debut album "+" three years ago. His love is more passionate, his hurt is more palpable, and when he throws shade, it's pretty intense. At the end of the day, he is a performer. You can tell how much music means to him when you see him live. He is a true artist: a beautiful lyricist, a stunning vocalist, and an incredibly entertaining musician.

Let me just start off by saying Ed Sheeran is an amazing performer and speaker. He is comedic and doesn't require thousands of lights and a massive stage to impress thousands. He stayed interactive with the crowd very well. This is my 3rd concert ever and it was both the best and worst I have ever.

Ed Sheeran did amazing, he isn't the issue. As people know in concerts you stand and dance to most songs and sit (under circumstances) when ballads are playing or the performer is speaking. So- I was standing during one of Ed Sheeran's many sings along/dancing songs. I am a 6 foot tall 13 years old there for my birthday. In the area, I was in many people asked me to sit while he talked which I happily obliged to then learning the rules.

It was all fine until one man yelled in a very rude/angry voice yelled at me (during a dancing song) "SIT DOWN IDIOT IN THE BLACK HAT." Which at the very moment I didn't recognize as myself until my father went to lash back (as any protective super concert dad would do). This is something I had never experienced. So for the rest of the concert, I sat having an emotional/mental breakdown.

I'm not sure if it was the music or the people that made me cry so much. This was an experience I will learn from. Unfortunately, it is (probably) because Ed Sheeran reins in a large age group as an audience. This means sometimes people will be cranky, rude, or just plain snarky.

I understand if someone handicapped asked me to sit because they couldn't stand. But this man that yelled at me was about 50 or younger. I hope he ended up enjoying his concert because by halfway through my whole 6' or taller family stood and danced. He sat and everyone around him was asking him to join.

Sorry for my rant. Ed Sheeran is an amazing performer. I just thought you should know that people that (I know) will be everywhere (and we cant do much about them). But it was rude.

Ed was fantastic! He played with no band or backtrack, but instead recorded himself and looped it as he went along to create the illusion of a backtrack or band. With only one person on stage in such a huge arena, there was a lot of opportunity to for the show to grow dry or redundant, especially for those sitting far away. However, he managed to keep me entertained the whole show with an AMAZING graphic show to accompany him. Each of his songs had a unique visual and light show that included scenes from music videos, new visuals, and video to project his performance. There was so much to look at I didn't even mind sitting far away (second level).

He was also very interactive with the crowd, asking us to sing along for most songs, telling stories, and even managing to request and achieve (near) complete silence from the audience during the few songs he deemed needed it. He's got just as amazing of a voice live as on his albums and managed to play all of my personal favorite songs in the span of his set, including a nice mixture of "plus" and "multiply" Plus, his rapping is 10x more impressive live. Between being his own DJ, spitting out verses quicker than I thought possible, and jumping around stage, it's hard to find out when he has time to breathe. But he kept his energy up throughout the whole show.

The exciting surprise of the event was during the encore, when he started singing "Chasing Cars" and was joined on stage by Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol. He ended the snow and left the stage with his single "Sing" still looping, leaving the song and his performance stuck in everyone's head for the rest of the night. Overall, he was a skilled entertainer, one I would Definitially recommend to all who enjoy his music.

becca-parnell’s profile image

I have seen 300 concerts. This evening is in my top ten. The sheet quality of his songs, what he achieves with his looping, and the visuals on the screen were excellent. There were a few occasions during the night when Ed was bashing away at his guitar, lost in that massive cacophony,of sound, that I thought that the Budweiser Gardens might blast off into space! Excellent.

Ed also has a powerful voice and a fairly extensive knowledge of soul music. Some of the snippets he threw into songs last night were fantastic. There were some transcendental moments in that show were I felt that anything could happen. People were stunned. Also, the way that he deconstructed some of the fan favourites was very interesting to watch and listen to.

All that said, I think needs some assistance in creating more flow to the show and in reaching out to his audience in a meaningful way. He is 24. His songs are unreal. He knows how good he is. I hope that the stagecraft develops further with maturity.

Songs like Photograph and Thinking Out Loud were a bit understated. Again, the quality of the songs allowed for a successful delivery. However, a song like Thinking out Loud is one for the ages. People will connect to that song forevermore. That piece needs to be a showstopper; a song that leaves the audiences emotional avd feeling connected to each other. He did not deliver in this department last night. His delivery on songs like this felt a bit selfish - a bit of a disappointment.

Ed Sheeran might level off in terms of the songs that he delivers to the world. If, on the other hand, they keep getting better we could be looking at a new kind of stardom. This boy is unreal. The world owns this guy now.

I don't know if it was the galavanting with Taylor Swift, but I know what you are thinking… Ed Sheeran is a ginger with a One Direction pre-teen fanatic following, and I'm not sure if I want to experience that live. Well I am here to tell you, you do. You really need to see Ed Sheeran live the next chance you get.

I've been a fan of Ed Sheeran since I first heard "You Need Me" in 2011. Since then, Ed Sheeran has exploded, touring with Snow Patrol and (of course) Tay Swifty. I'm not sure if it was the time spent with Gary Lightbody and Snow Patrol, but Ed Sheeran has refined his songwriting to pull at your heartstrings and bring you on a 3 minute plus journey of love, loss, and sometimes revenge.

When I had an opportunity to see him live for the first time this year, he was playing a massive stadium in Philadelphia. I was as ready as I could be for all the screaming pre-teens, but looking around before the show started the thing that surprised me most was the stage set up: two mics, two guitars and a loop pedal at the very front of the stage. The next couple hours were a thrilling experience of watch Ed Sheeran build his songs from those 3 things, using his guitar as drums, layering vocals to harmonize with himself, and using the crowd as an award winning choir.

With all of the production on the new album, I completely expected him to have a huge band on stage. Yet, just as he had done when he first started on the street and at open mic nights, Ed Sheeran played completely by himself… in a stadium. This is definitely a case of the pop music world getting it right… Ed Sheeran is a huge talent who deserves to be massive, and you will agree next time you see him live.

After a 4.5hr drive to see the show we weren’t disappointed!

Lewis Capaldi was first up and as funny and great as ever. Had the crowd laughing.

The Darkness were not my thing but they engaged with one particular guy called “Rick” in the crowd, who also sang his heart out for an appreciative audience.

The main man Ed appeared on stage around 8.30pm with a huge smile on his face, to an immense welcome from the Ipswich crowd, he was born not too far away, so was nice to see him finish this huge 2 year world tour at home.

Also he gave hundreds of free tickets to the pupils of the school he attended when he lived there.

His vocals were simply incredible, loud, strong, smooth and steamy, just beautiful !!

Screen graphics and timings were perfect too.

His guitar playing was awesome to watch and I have no idea how he concentrates on so many things at once with the loop, that is pure talent and the build up and sound in some songs ie Eraser, Bloodstream and the awesome You need me,I don’t need you gave me goosebumps.

Ed was joined for Galway Girl by Beoga which was brilliant.

Special guest Stormzy for “Shape of You” was the icing on the cake and I’m so pleased I bought the tickets last year, they were worth every penny.

Only complaint was the rude and miserable guy behind the official merch counter!! Spending £50 on a hoodie for my daughter meant I had to save for it and it would have been nice to have had a “hello” a “thank-you” or any kind of a smile!!!

Luckily the bar staff were friendly, smiley and helpful as were the local people.

Would 100% recommend ED SHEERAN as someone to see live, he is INCREDIBLE.

Seeing Ed Sheeran live was an incredible experience. Ed is not just a singer, but a brilliant artist, because every song of his is a work of art. He is 23 years old and he has released two albums, twelve EPs and collaborated with many successful artists.

If you doubt about seeing him live, because you're not really a big fan and you know a few of his most successful songs (The A-team, Lego House, Drunk, Give Me Love) - don't doubt my friend. Why? Let me tell you why. You know this feeling when you have to drive to a concert and you're already exhausted and the summer heat is making you all giddy? And then you have to wait in line and the heat is really bothering you? Well my friend, you forget all about it once Mr. Sheeran comes to the stage. The way he presents himself and his music is brilliant. He's just one man on the stage but he is all over the place. He makes sure we are all listening to him and not just screaming whenever he opens his mouth and a beautiful note comes out. During some of the songs you need to be quiet, and oh boy, we were quiet. It was like the crowd was holding their breath.

Something I really like about him, is that he is just a simple human being with an amazing talent that he wants to share with the world. He plays mostly in smaller arenas so he can connect more with the crowd. If you are a fan of acoustic artists and small venues - then his concert is definitely for you. I would highly recommend you go to Ed's concert even if you only know one song of his. He is absolutely amazing and his gigs are an incredible experience for everybody.

I fell in love with Ed's music a few years ago, a little before the big hype about him (of which there is every need to be). I loved his first album and all his "old" songs (pre-+) like ones in The songs I wrote with Amy and X (Mulitply) is just even better. I knew he would be amazing live, because any live lounges or live performances I've watched of his have been brilliant. What I love is that it's just him, his guitar and his loop pedal – no band or back-up singers which is something quite unique to him. That, I think, makes a more personal connection with him and the crowd so, even parents who didn't particularly want to be there could be involved as well with clapping etc. He seems really genuine and down-to-earth through his performances too as he doesn't have anything too flashy – just a couple screens behind him so everyone can see him. And of course, just jeans and a t-shirt. He had a good mix of up-beat and slow songs and songs with a slow start and build up which I really liked. He also added things to the songs like adding other parts of songs to the end or adding an extra verse than from what's on the album (eg. You need me, I don't need you). His love performance consisted mostly of songs from his new album, X but also many songs from + and a few older songs too like Gold Rush. I was definitely recommend listening to and going to a concert of Ed's because his music is for everyone and he is definitely a crowd-pleaser.

James Blunt was the opening act, with Ed Sheeran as the main. The show started right on time, which doesn't always happen in my experience. Blunt had a hit with "Beautiful" in the states a while back and we haven't heard much from him since, so he poked fun at himself on stage and put on a great show. The crowd may have come to see Ed Sheeran, but Blunt set a great mood for the rest of the show, ending with an upbeat song. He is the self proclaimed singer of "miserable songs", yet he ended his set on a positive note and crowd participation.

Ed Sheeran's show started a bit after James Blunt's performance ended, 15 minutes maybe. As we already know, he's an incredibly gifted and talented artist. His set was beautiful, with a lot of graphics on the screens to go with the songs. I do wish that on some songs they'd shown him more on the big screens, since it's those of us sitting further back couldn't see him as well. That's fine though, it was still worth it. He ended with "Shape of You", which made our daughter very happy since she's not yet 9, that's one of her favorite songs, and this was her first concert.

Tacoma Dome was the venue, the concert and venue were great, the parking and way out, not so much. It was a total cluster and $30 parking for an outdoor lot with no real direction is not good, in my opinion. If there was actual traffic control to help leaving the concert, it would have been perfect. That's my only gripe.

Tickets still available for Ed Sheeran concert at Pittsburgh's Acrisure Stadium

JoAnne Klimovich Harrop

Pittsburgh’s summer of big concerts continues Saturday.

British pop star Ed Sheeran will take the stage at Acrisure Stadium on the North Shore.

Opening guests are expected to be Khalid and Rosa Linn.

Khalid missed the past few shows because he was in a car accident and it is not clear if he will be in Pittsburgh. He did not perform last weekend — Sheeran welcomed John Mayer on June 30 and Little Big Town on July 1 for his concerts at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ed Sheeran (@teddysphotos)

Sheeran last performed in Pittsburgh at PNC Park on the North Shore in 2018 on his “Divide Tour.” He opened for Taylor Swift – who had two sold-out concerts in the ‘Burgh in June at Acrisure — in 2013 when the venue was Heinz Field.

Sheeran’s “+ – = ÷ x Tour” (pronounced “The Mathematics Tour”), begins at 6 p.m. It will feature songs from his latest album” - (Subtract)” which came out in May.

Get your tickets

There are still seats available starting at $25. The stadium’s most expensive ticket is $99.

Know that the stadium box office will not be selling tickets. All tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster . Ticketholders with floor tickets must enter Gate 6 via the north end zone on Reedsdale Street. All other guests are encouraged to enter the gate listed on the ticket.

There is no re-entry once your mobile ticket is scanned.

Times to know

According to Acrisure, all parking lots surrounding the stadium on the North Shore will be open starting at 1:30 p.m. Those who want to park Downtown can access to Pittsburgh Regional Transit’s light rail system, which will operate until 1 a.m.

Fans can also park at Station Square on the South Side for $15 and ride the Gateway Clipper for $8 per person each way. Saturday is also opening night for the National Senior Games, where more than 10,000 athletes 50 and older will be in town to compete in 19 sports.

Acrisure Stadium parking lots prohibit the sale of food and alcohol, glass containers, tents, personal port-a-johns, furniture — other than folding lawn chairs and tables — oversized vehicles and solicitation of any kind.

Security Screening

For the safety of all fans, security screenings will take place before entering Acrisure Stadium. Guests will have to remove hats and items from their pockets.

The National Football League’s clear bag policy will be in effect for this show. Fans may bring keys, makeup, combs, phones, wallets and credit cards. Blankets are permitted.

Bags need to be clear plastic, vinyl or Polyvinyl chloride and not exceed 12 inches x 6 inches x 12 inches. Purses need to be smaller than 4.5 inches x 6.5 inches.

There will be exceptions for medical items.

Plan to arrive at least one hour before the start of the concert.

Acrisure Stadium is a cashless venue.

All major credit cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are accepted. Most concessions will be open.

An accessible ATM is located inside Gate B. Guests can exchange cash for Aramark food vouchers at Guest Services 104 in the FedEx Great Hall, located on the east side of the stadium.

Vouchers cannot be used to purchase alcohol or merchandise.

While convection is diminishing now, isolated showers and thunderstorms will remain possible overnight as a cold front slowly passes. After the cold front moves east of the region Friday afternoon, the next chance for storms will arrive late Saturday ahead of the weather system. pic.twitter.com/pEwazVTkqa — NWS Pittsburgh (@NWSPittsburgh) July 7, 2023

The weather

The National Weather Service forecasts a 20% chance of showers between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., then a 60% chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. The high will be near 85. The low should be around 66.

Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium is on as scheduled. Here's everything you need to know

5 minute read.

ed sheeran tour tonight

Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium is a go.

The Brit singer-songwriter's two shows, Saturday, June 10, and Sunday, June 11, will proceed according to schedule, according to MetLife Stadium, despite the air quality emergency caused by Canadian wild fires.

“The concerts remain on schedule for this weekend,” said the stadium in an advisory on Thursday, June 8. “We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as needed.”

The low-pressure system causing southerly winds to push the smoke from forest fires in Quebec down to New Jersey and much of the Northeast was forecasted to move on Saturday, said John Cristantello, lead meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Brookhaven, New York.

The state's air quality began improving late Thursday morning after reaching hazardous conditions Wednesday from an unprecedented amount of smoke that descended on the region from the forest fires. Pollution levels were still very high midday Thursday, and the state was under a red alert.

The Sheeran shows are part of the North American leg of his “+ - = ÷ x Tour,” aka “The Mathematics Tour.” Khalid and Dylan are also on the bill of the in-the-round shows. Sheeran's set runs about two hours and 15 minutes, and he usually comes on about 8 p.m.

Look out on Friday, June 9, as Sheeran has been playing theaters before his stadium shows on the tour, although it's not known if the air quality emergency will hinder this — or if he planned to hit one in the Jersey area.

Sheeran played The Met in Philadelphia before his shows at Lincoln Financial Field in Philly.

“Playing theatres all summer the day before I do the big stadium shows,” said Sheeran on social media. “I love the contrast of playing an intimate venue then playing the next day to such big crowds, variety is the spice of life and all that. See ya in a city near you this summer.”

Tickets for both shows, starting at $75 before fees, are available via Ticketmaster .

Headed to see Ed Sheeran at Gillette Stadium this weekend? Here’s what you need to know

Concert tickets? Check.

Clear bag approved by Gillette Stadium? Check.

Excitement to see Ed Sheeran perform live in front of all his fans? Check.

Fans are getting ready to see Ed Sheeran this weekend, when he returns to Gillette Stadium on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday morning, Gillette Stadium announced that John Mayer will replace Khalid as the opener for Friday’s show before Little Big Town does the following for Saturday’s show.

Shows start at 6 p.m., with parking lots scheduled to open at 2 p.m. Gates will open at 4 p.m.

Record-breaking concert season on deck at Gillette. Here’s a look at what stars are coming to town

Gillette Stadium officials are reminding concert attendees to allow plenty of time for travel to the venue.

“The Friday concert will coincide with commuter traffic, so please plan accordingly,” Gillette Stadium said in a statement. “Traffic restrictions will be in place on local roads before and after each show. Fans who use local roads will experience delays in arrival time due to road closures that are not captured by traffic and navigation apps. Fans must use I-95, I-495 or Route 140 to access Route 1 and Gillette Stadium.”

Gillette Stadium offers general parking for all ticket holders. General parking is located on the opposite side of Route 1 from the stadium and is included in the price of the event ticket. A parking pass is not required for general parking.

For ticketholders wishing to park on the stadium side of Route 1, prepaid parking passes are available for $50. In order to purchase a prepaid parking pass, ticketholders must use the same email address that their event tickets are associated with. Ticketholders may only purchase one prepaid parking pass per account per event. Prepaid parking passes are limited and are subject to availability.

Oversize vehicle parking is located in Lot 52, accessible from P10 North and P10 South from the north and south respectively, and is included in the price of the event ticket. ADA parking will be accessible from P1 when traveling from the north and P7 when traveling from the south. For more parking information, visit gillettestadium.com/parking/ .

The MBTA Commuter Rail and Keolis are providing round-trip, special event train service from both Boston and Providence for the Saturday, July 1 show. Tickets for the Boston special event train are sold out and a limited number of $20 round-trip tickets for the Providence special event train are on sale now exclusively via the mTicket app.

Tickets must be purchased prior to boarding the event train. All passengers, including children 11 and under, must have a ticket to board the train. These are special event trains and ticket sales will be stopped once the maximum capacity is reached. Regular Commuter Rail tickets and passes are not valid for special event trains.

There will be no special event train service available for the Friday, June 30 show. Guests choosing to travel to Gillette Stadium for the Friday, June 30 show via the regularly scheduled Foxboro Station weekday Commuter Rail service should note that the last weekday Commuter Rail train departs for Boston at 10:20 p.m.

When gates open at 4 p.m., fans can enter through the Bank of America, CVS Health and Ticketmaster Gates for this event, and fans with field seats should enter via the Enel Plaza only. ADA entry is available through the Ticketmaster Gate on the east and Bank of America Gate on the west. Gillette Stadium provides two dedicated ADA Elevators for guests needing additional accommodations and requiring elevator access: one on the east side of the stadium at the Ticketmaster Gate, and one on the west side of the stadium at the W1 entrance. Club and suite ticketholders should enter via the E1, E2, W1, W2, W3 or W4 entrances. A full stadium map and seating chart is available at gillettestadium.com/generalseating-chart/ .

There is also a clear bag policy in effect, officials said. Fans attending concerts are reminded that bags larger than a small wristlet or handheld wallet will not be allowed inside Gillette Stadium, per the venue’s clear bag policy, which is in effect at all ticketed events. If carrying a bag into the stadium is necessary, there are three options: a clear plastic bag the size of a one-gallon Ziploc bag, a clear plastic vinyl or PVC bag that does not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12,” or a small wristlet or handheld wallet not exceeding 4.5″ x 6.5″.

Bags larger than the permitted size, including purses, shoulder bags and backpacks, will not be allowed inside Gillette Stadium and will not be held or stored by the venue, officials said. These items must be returned to a vehicle before entering the stadium. For more information on the clear bag policy, visit gillettestadium.com/bagpolicy/ .

Prohibited items inside the stadium include: GoPro/video cameras, tripods/monopods, professional cameras and cameras with detachable lenses, selfie sticks, strollers, backpacks, lasers, umbrellas, outside food and beverage, balloons, beach balls, noisemakers and any items deemed dangerous and/or inappropriate by stadium management. Polaroid cameras and portable phones chargers are permitted. Signs are permitted but they cannot be larger than 11″ x 17″. Lights and battery packs are not permitted on signage, clothing or any other objects. Stadium and artist management reserve the right to prohibit signs or banners due to message content, officials said.

Regarding ticketing, tickets are digital and accessible via mobile device. Fans can access and manage mobile tickets via the Gillette Stadium app which is available on the App Store (for iPhone users) and Google Play Store (for Android users). Gillette Stadium officials strongly encourage guests to add their mobile tickets to their Apple Wallet or Google Pay prior to arriving at the stadium gates to beat busy network connections and for ease of entry into the venue. Review: Ed Sheeran explores grief in Clearwater during Subtract Tour kickoff

  • Gabrielle Calise Times staff

CLEARWATER — Ed Sheeran didn’t sugarcoat it when he greeted the 2,000 or so fans packed inside Ruth Eckerd Hall Friday night.

“The next hour is not going to be happy. It’s going to be a sad hour,” said the English singer, kicking off the first show of his Subtract Tour. “I promise at the end of the gig we’re all going to be jumping and having fun.”

Since April 2022, Sheeran has been traveling to stadiums across the globe for the +–=÷× (a.k.a. Mathematics) Tour. Then last month, he announced a series of concerts in intimate venues, starting at Ruth Eckerd Hall the night before his Tampa show at Raymond James Stadium. Call it a return to his roots.

Anyone who has been to a wedding in the last five years can tell you that Sheeran is behind some of this generation’s most popular love songs. His ballads like “Perfect” and “Thinking Out Loud” are as much present on Top 40 playlists as they are slow dance staples.

But the album Sheeran released on May 5, titled “Subtract,” is filled with themes of heartbreak and loss. While he had been working on the project for a decade, he scrapped much of it after a series of tragedies: his wife’s cancer diagnosis and the death of friends Jamal Edwards and Shane Warne. The new songs, Sheeran explained to the Clearwater crowd, ended up becoming an exploration of his grieving process.

The journey was heavy. But as fans would find out, it was also one worth taking.

Part one: Sheeran performs — and annotates — “Subtract”

Hours after surprising a classroom of Tampa students at Middleton High School with free concert tickets and instruments , Sheeran bounded onto the stage of Ruth Eckerd Hall.

A full 11-piece band, including a string section, was already waiting for him. He wanted to start with “Subtract” in full, as it was meant to sound.

“I think it matters more than, you know, ‘Bad Habits,’ or ‘Shape of You,’” he said. “I understand an album like this is in a different space, but it’s so nice to be able to play it in a room like this.”

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Ed Sheeran (@teddysphotos)

A few weeks before, the Grammy-winning artist became the subject of a new Disney+ documentary series, “Ed Sheeran: The Sum of It All.” He also recently beat two lawsuits that accused him of plagiarizing Marvin Gaye . Neither of those updates received a mention from Sheeran.

Instead, he walked fans through the story behind each new song.

“This album was written in a period of my life that was definitely the most challenging period to live through,” Sheeran said. “But I feel like looking back on it and having this record is [like] you’ve found something beautiful in something really [chaotic] and horrible.”

In a plain white T-shirt and cargo pants, Sheeran spoke and sang to the crowd candidly, as if he were sharing observations from therapy with a pal.

Ahead of “Eyes Closed,” he described walking into West London pubs still expecting to run into his friend who had died. Before “End of Youth,” he said he felt like an adult for the first time after experiencing a loved one’s sudden death, despite Sheeran being a 31-year-old father at the time.

He revisited both his friend’s funeral and the band practice where he learned that his pregnant wife had a tumor.

“I don’t think grief is this thing where you’re allowed two weeks and after you have to get on with it,” he said before “Life Goes On.”

The audience absorbed in silence, few singing along or standing. Some wiped tears. As Sheeran belted, it was hard not to think about people in your own life who had passed.

Just like the process of actually grieving, the pain came in waves, punctuated by moments of relief. Sheeran actually grinned during “Dusty,” tapping his foot as he sang about spinning vinyl records in the morning for his daughter while feeding her “porridge.. or oatmeal, sorry.”

“Everyone having fun?” he said at one point. “I’m assuming people are coming to the show tomorrow. From the jump, tomorrow I promise you’re going to be like, ‘Oh, I’m in a good mood.’ Tonight is just different.”

Part two: Sheeran shifts the vibe with the hits

If the first half of the show was catharsis, the second was celebration. Or as Sheeran put it, “I’m going to play some songs that hopefully won’t depress you.”

As he completed “Subtract,” the entire audience rose in a standing ovation for the first time since he arrived. Sheeran faced away, hugging his band members and waving as they left the stage.

Then it was just him and his instruments.

The crowd stayed on its feet as Sheeran ran through some of his biggest singles from the last decade or so. He built each song from scratch, recording layers of looping sounds: a guitar riff, a keyboard melody, the beat of his palm thumping against the acoustic guitar body.

It was time for the hits — yes, even “Bad Habits.”

Sheeran dragged out seven of his older favorites, eliciting a big singalong with “The A Team” and an even bigger dance party for “Shape of You.” The highlight was a sultry rendition of “Bloodstream,” red lights strobing as Sheeran crooned and slapped his guitar.

For the encore, he busted out “The Parting Glass,” a tune sang by both the Scottish and Irish to wrap up an event with friends.

“Good night,” he sang. “And joy be to you all.”

New opening acts announced for Ed Sheeran concerts at Gillette Stadium this weekend

John mayer will now open friday's show and little big town on saturday, in place of khalid, by marc fortier • published june 30, 2023 • updated on june 30, 2023 at 12:01 pm.

New opening acts were announced Friday morning for this weekend's Ed Sheeran shows at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro.

Gillette Stadium said on Twitter shortly after 10 a.m. Friday that John Mayer will now be opening Sheeran's Friday night concert, and Little Big Town will be the opening act for Saturday's show.

🚨Just announced!🚨 @JohnMayer will now be opening for Ed Sheeran’s Friday concert and @littlebigtown will be opening on Saturday. Tix and info: https://t.co/5NaVHoZvi7 pic.twitter.com/8pAFrQbI1g — Gillette Stadium (@GilletteStadium) June 30, 2023

The announcement comes less than eight hours before the start of the first show on Friday night.

The original openers listed on the stadium's website were Khalid and Rosa Linn. Rosa Linn is still listed as an opener along with Mayer and Little Big Town, but Khalid's name has been removed. No details were immediately released on why the change was being made.

Khalid was reportedly injured in a recent car accident , but it wasn't clear whether that might be related to his absence. Sheeran was first to share the news of the crash, posting on his Instagram Stories that the singer wouldn't be opening for him at his June 25 show in Maryland.

Some Taylor Swift fans took to Twitter on Friday to voice their displeasure with the switch, especially given that Mayer is the singer's ex-boyfriend. Sheeran and Swift have been friends and collaborators for over a decade.

"GILETTE THIS ISN'T VERY SWIFTIE OF YOU," one person wrote.

"GOD PLEASE NO," said another.

"We gotta sing Dear John tonight," said one person, referencing the Swift song that is reportedly about Mayer.

And then there was this response:

Both the Friday and Saturday shows are scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Ticket information can be found here.

The last time Sheeran toured in North America, his 2018 Divide Tour, he set the all-time record for attendance and ticket sales, according to a news release.

Ed Sheeran in Nashville: Everything you need to know for Nissan Stadium concert

ed sheeran tour tonight

This weekend, Nashville has a date with Ed Sheeran.

The singer-songwriter known for soft-hearted ballads and inescapable pop mega-hits returns to Music City this weekend for a Nissan Stadium stop on his massive "Mathematics" North American tour. Let's break down what you need to know before Sheeran makes his Nashville return.

What time does Ed Sheeran's Nashville concert start?

Doors to Nissan Stadium open at 4: 30 p.m.; music kicks off at 6 p.m.

Where to park for Ed Sheeran's Nissan Stadium concert in Nashville

Parking near Nissan Stadium for a major event can be  tricky . Those hoping to park at the stadium needed to purchase a pass ahead of show time. Passes can be found at ticketmaster.com.

Additional downtown parking options include ...

  • MTA Parking at 400 Charlotte Avenue (near Woodland St.)
  • Metro Courthouse/Public Square Garage at 101 James Robertson Pkwy (near Woodland St.)
  • 222 Garage at 222 2nd Avenue (near the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge)
  • 333 Garage at 128 4th Ave N (near the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge)

Those hoping to avoid parking and traffic headaches should plan to arrive downtown before concert gates open, as navigating around the stadium and into garages can be time-consuming. Find more parking options at  tennesseetitans.com  and  nashvilledowntown.com .

More: Why Ed Sheeran's ACM performance had a country-tinged surprise

Individuals taking a rideshare can be dropped off and picked up near Nissan Stadium lot E, according to the venue website.

Ed Sheeran tickets

As of publication time, tickets remained available starting at $58.35 before fees via ticketmaster.com .

Weather forecast for Ed Sheeran in Nashville

As of publication time, the National Weather Service predicts sunny skies with a high around 84 degrees Saturday. The evening forecast includes mostly clear skies with a low around 63 degrees.

While rain isn't in the forecast, fans who battled severe weather at past Nissan Stadium concerts (ahem, Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks) know how Tennessee forecasts can be ... temperamental.

Those wanting to take precautions can pack a rain coat and plastic sandwich bags to keep yourself and your phone dry. Concerts can be delayed — or derailed — if lightning strikes near the venue. Stay glued to Nissan Stadium and the Tennessean on social media for potential weather-delay updates

The 'Mathematics' tour

Sheeran returns to Nashville — where he once lived as a rising pop star and regular Swift collaborator — on the "Mathematics" tour, a run of career-spanning stadium concerts named after the culmination of a five-album cycle ( released as "+," "-," "=," "÷," and "x," respectively.

The tour comes in support of Sheeran's new album, "- (Subtract)."

An adopted fan of the Tennessee Titans, Sheeran returns to the home of Nashville's NFL franchise nearly five years after he first headlined Nissan Stadium, in October 2018.

Could a special guest (or two) pop up at the stadium? It's possible. Sheeran's no stranger to Nashville collaborations, after all. He's cut songs with Chris Stapleton and Taylor Swift (of course), and shared the stage with Luke Combs, among others.

Is Ed Sheeran playing the Ryman Auditorium?

Yes, the "Mathematics" tour stop in Nashville comes with a prelude performance Friday night inside Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium.

Part of a series of theater shows complimenting his stadium tour stops, Sheeran plans to perform the 14-song "- (Subtract)" — a collection of sobering, intimate songs — from start-to-finish.

Who opens for Ed Sheeran in Nashville?

The "Mathematics" tour stop at Nissan Stadium includes a pair of opening acts:

  • Khalid , the pop star known for songs "Young Dumb & Broke" and "Silence," among others;
  • Up-and-coming British indie-pop artist Cat Burns , known in-part for breakout single "Go."

Tenured singer-songwriter Ben Kweller opens Sheeran's show at the Ryman.

What songs does Ed Sheeran play on his 'Mathematics' tour?

(Warning: mild setlist spoilers ahead)

At the stadium shows, Sheeran typically delivers a set that captures his decade-plus career in pop hitmaking. Unlike his last performance at the stadium — which Sheeran delivered solo — the English native returns to Music City backed by a full band.

He splits time on stage between solo and full-band songs, according to a USA Today review published earlier this summer. Song highlights include "Blow," (a rock collaboration originally released with Chris Stapleton and Bruno Mars), "Castle on the Hill," "Bad Habit," "Photograph," "Shape of You" and more.

British singer Calum Scott, who will open for Ed Sheeran concert at the Sevens Stadium tonight and tomorrow, claims he’s living his best life in Dubai. And the reason for his happiness? His mentor and guide: Ed Sheeran.

Get exclusive content with Gulf News WhatsApp channel

“Supporting Ed Sheeran is unbelievable … I am just pinching myself all the time to make sure that I am not dreaming. It’s ridiculous,” said Scott in an interview with Gulf News ahead of his opening gig.

This former Hull council employee made it to the 2015 finals of Britain's Got Talent and shared the stage with Take That at the King's Coronation concert in May. His recent accolades include a Brit Award nomination earlier this year for his collaboration with Lost Frequencies on the song "Where Are You Now?".

Scott also received a prior Brit Award nomination in 2017 for his hit single "Dancing on My Own". He was reportedly handpicked by the 'Shape Of You' pop icon in a rather organic fashion (more on that later).

Excerpts from our interview with Scott as he talks about being mentored by Ed Sheeran, writing love songs that resonate with everyone, and shadowing the British musical genius for six months on the road ...

You are opening for Ed Sheeran tonight in Dubai … Excited?

100 per cent. I am absolutely living my best life here in Dubai. Supporting Ed Sheeran is unbelievable. The collaboration with me and Ed came together quite naturally. I met him a few years ago and we have staged in touch. We have been emailing backwards and forwards on songs and then he reached out to me saying he wanted me to tour with him for the next six months, which is just insane. We played our first show in Bahrain on Monday and it was unbelievable. And we are going to be here in Dubai tonight and tomorrow and honestly, I am just pinching myself all the time to make sure I am not dreaming. It’s ridiculous.

What have you observed about Ed Sheeran while on the go with him?

As soon as I finished my set, I went straight out and sat there waiting for him to come on stage … I just want to use him as a mentor whilst I am on the road with him. Backstage in Bahrain, had a lovely 15-20 chat with him … He was talking to me about all things normal like his Christmas, packing for the tour, his kids and stuff. He was asking me about my New Year’s Eve and Christmas too. It just felt nice to have that chat before I went on stage. He also gave me some great advice on how to manage my nerves a little better. I am sure over the course of the next six months, he is going to be a massive inspiration. He’s going to be my teacher and I am taking notes as we go.

So you are going to graduate with honours from Ed Sheeran’s school of music and stardom?

Yes! That’s that I want to do, be a part of Ed Sheeran School.

Ed Sheeran is a self-made pop icon who famously slept on Hollywood star Jamie Foxx’s couch during his struggling days. Does his success story resonate with you?

Look at what Ed’s done in his life and not that it’s comparable to my life at all, but the ethos, the work ethic and the journey feels familiar. Ed worked really, really hard. Up until late, people may have thought that one song broke him, but he’s been constantly pumping out music ever since his biggest hit. It’s the same with me ever since I really started working on songs after my biggest hit. I was worried for a little bit if that was going to be my biggest hit and whether I will be a one-trick pony especially after my stint at Britain’s Got Talent. Simon Cowell had kind of gone off and done another show, so I was left with: ‘what do I do now’. But I have been working so hard since and when I wrote ‘You are the reason’ and put that song out there, it really solidified my place in the music landscape and pop culture. I still work so hard for my next big song that people can walk down the aisle for the wedding or their first-dance song after the wedding ceremony. I see a lot of what Ed Sheeran has done and the kind of person he is and I am constantly inspired by that.

We live in an age of dating apps and where love is an elusive currency. Have you thought of writing songs that are a bit dark?

From the dawn of time, people have written about love, relationships, make-up, and break-up because everyone resonates with those themes. Being in love or not being in love is what we all have In common. My song ‘Dancing On My Own’ is about unrequited love and how someone is everything to you. These are songs that reflect everybody’s life and I want my songs to resonate with everyone because that’s my bread and butter. I have always wanted to write songs where people go: ‘that’s my journey and my story’. But honestly, I have never thought about writing a song about finding love on Tinder … I am a traditional kind of guy and am all about finding love across the [lounge] … I should tell Ed about writing a song about [dating apps].

Before I let you go, what was the advice that Ed Sheeran gave you about calming your nerves ...

He gave me the best advice ever. I have never performed to this amount of people before. Last year, when I performed in Wembley Stadium in London, it was for one song and I got off. The same happened during King’s Coronation where I was off stage after one song, but here I need to sing for 40 minutes straight and that’s a different beast. But Ed said: ‘Don’t think of them as individuals when you are performing live because that’s scary. Just think of the tens of thousands of them as one big, massive blob.” It worked. And when I see the joy or the tears in the concert-goer’s faces, the nerves and all is worth it. Now I am all about entertaining that massive blob as Ed said.

Don't Miss It!

[Watch] "Ask him why did they not retain me" - Shubman Gill's cheeky banter with Ed Sheeran on not being retained by Shah Rukh Khan's KKR in the IPL

G ujarat Titans (GT) skipper Shubman Gill was seen having a cheeky conversation with famous English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran over not being retained by Shah Rukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Gill was part of the Kolkata franchise from 2018 to 2021 and tasted decent success. However, he was not retained by the franchise ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. Subsequently, the talented batter was bought by Gujarat Titans and was named captain for the IPL 2024 season after Hardik Pandya moved to Mumbai Indians (MI).

On Friday, April 5, Sheeran shared a video of his meeting with Gill and comedian Tanmay Bhat during his Mathematics Tour in March 2024 on his YouTube channel. A clip from the video is going viral on social media in which Gill is heard telling Ed Sheeran in a lighthearted tone that he must ask Shah Rukh why he [Gill] wasn't retained by the franchise. The viral conversation went as follows:

Ed Sheeran: "I am going to Shah Rukh's house tonight."
Shubman Gill: "I used to play for his team."
Ed Sheeran: "Did you? He has a team!"
Tanmay Bhatt : "Yes, Kolkata Knight Riders."
Shubman Gill: "Ask him why did they not retain me."

Ed Sheeran and Bhatt found the one-liner very funny and burst out in laughter. Bhatt then went on to enquire about the musician's interaction with Shah Rukh as the conversation took a serious turn.

Shubman Gill has had a mixed start to his stint as GT captain

Gill was named skipper of the Gujarat Titans franchise after Pandya moved back to his original IPL team - the Mumbai Indians. Under the 24-year-old, GT have had a mixed run in IPL 2024 so far. Gujarat Titans have played four matches, winning two and losing the other two.

They began IPL 2024 with a six-run win over Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT were then hammered by defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 63 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

Gujarat Titans registered their second win of IPL 2024 by getting the better of SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) by seven wickets in Ahmedabad. In their fourth match, they were stunned by Punjab Kings (PBKS) by three wickets in a high-scoring thriller in Ahmedabad.

On the personal front, Gill has scored 164 runs in four innings at an average of 54.67 and a strike rate of 159.22. The right-handed batter slammed 89* off 48 in the game against Punjab Kings.

Eminem looked calm and ready when he surprised the crowd at Ed Sheeran’s Detroit concert!

Listen to Eminem’s Shade 45: Completely uncensored hip-hop radio

“I wondered if I could play you a cover of an Eminem song tonight?” Ed asked the 65,000+ fans in Ford Field on Saturday night before launching into an acoustic cover of Eminem’s 2002 hit “Lose Yourself.”

As shown in the Instagram video posted by both artists, Eminem then rose up from underneath the stage to join Ed halfway through the first verse to an explosive applause.

Eminem grew up in a suburb of Detroit near 8 Mile Road, which inspired the title of his autobiographical film, 8 Mile .

“[Eminem] was going to come on and do one song, and I said you can’t come on in Detroit and just do one song. Do you want another song?” Ed asked the crowd before the duo teamed up for an even older track — “Stan,” from The Marshall Mathers LP (2000).

This was far from the first time Ed and Eminem have worked together. After they collaborated in 2018 on “River,” Ed joined Eminem for his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction celebration just last year. Eminem also made an appearance on Ed’s No. 6 Collaborations Project  album in 2019, joining 50 Cent on the track “Remember the Name.”

Griff Explains Why Her Songwriting Style Is 'Weirdly' the Opposite of Taylor Swift's (Exclusive)

The British rising star tells PEOPLE about her new 'Ver2igo Vol. 2' EP, switching up her signature hairstyle and overcoming writer's block on tour

Courtesy of Warner Records

Griff is balancing hardships with career heights.

Fresh off a headlining world tour that followed her 2023 stint opening for Coldplay , the British singer-songwriter released her new EP, Ver2igo Vol. 2, on Friday, April 5, marking the next chapter of her current era — eventually set to culminate in her debut full-length album.

Since breaking through with her One Foot in Front of the Other mixtape in 2021, the 23-year-old rising star has earned a BRIT Award as well as Taylor Swift 's stamp of approval and songwriting advice from Chris Martin .

While experiencing such highs in her professional life, however, Griff's also faced personal lows, from soul-crushing heartbreak to periods of writer's block — all of which inspired the four tracks on Ver2igo Vol. 2 .

Griff (born Sarah Faith Griffiths) recently sat down with PEOPLE to discuss her latest project, why her songwriting style differs from Swift's and the recent decision to switch up her signature "bubble braid" hairstyle.

You previously said Vert1go Vol. 1 was "fragile and heartbroken and insular" installment of this project. How would you describe Vol. 2 ?

I would say it's still desperately heartbroken, but I think sonically, there's something uplifting and driven about it, and I'd say there's a new layer of euphoria in this one.

Is that reflective of the stages of heartbreak you've personally experienced?

I think so. It's a natural cycle of life, I think, whether it's heartbreak or just growing up. There are really low moments at the start, and then at some point you have to figure out your confidence and your place in all of it. That's probably what's happened over the last couple of years, and that's why the music goes in this arc.

Gareth Cattermole/Getty

When did you go through the heartbreak that inspired these tracks?

I don't really write songs about a specific — well, actually sometimes I do… I always try to write in a sense that I can listen and think about family, friendships, or romance. I don't think I've ever been one to specifically write about the actual detail, date, shade, taste and smell. To me, it's an overall feeling of, I don't know... there's something in growing up where you just go through a real rediscovery of yourself, and there's a lot of life blocks that happen. I think that's more what these songs are about.

Your approach is almost the opposite of Taylor Swift's ultra-specific songwriting.

Weirdly, yeah. I don't know why. I guess growing up, I never got used to writing those songs, because I would listen to Taylor, but I was too young to have really experienced some of those things. I think I developed a style of writing that was more, I guess, open for people to be able to interpret.

This series of EPs will eventually culminate in a full-length project. Were all the songs written in the same wave of songwriting, or did you write each volume separately?

No, it wasn't as tidy a process as that. In between all of my touring, I'd get back to the U.K., and I'm a bedroom producer, I guess, so I'd pack up all of my equipment, put it in my car and then go to a random Airbnb that had a piano in it and try to write. I did that maybe eight times, and I had about 100 songs in a Dropbox folder. It’s only in hindsight that I've now been trying to pick the ones I want to finish and hearing that they sit in different worlds slightly. They all have this common theme, but the feelings are all slightly different. And so that's what I've been figuring out. But the process has been almost upside down and a bit sporadic.

You've been on tour almost constantly since releasing your breakthrough mixtape, One Foot in Front of the Other , in 2021. It doesn't seem easy for you to write on the road.

I found it really difficult, to be honest. I realized that I don't write well under pressure. The mixtape was written in COVID, and I just had a lot of time with my own thoughts, and then suddenly being on tour, you're almost never alone, and you're not in any creative head space. You see those videos of Ed Sheeran , where he writes “Shape of You” in 15 minutes on a tour bus, and I'm like, "This is going to be me on tour. It's going to be amazing." It wasn't the case.

I actually had really, really bad writer's block. That's why I had to be so drastic when I came back to the U.K., where it's like, I need to almost trick my brain into a low-pressure environment. There wasn't any point of the label hiring out big, fancy studios where there's a chef and a big mixing desk because I think that would just cripple me. I just needed to be in a really s---ty cottage making myself breakfast, sitting down at the piano and just figuring out these songs. So, I definitely found the touring process hard.

Matthew Baker/Getty

You've said that while on tour with Coldplay, you played 30 songs for Chris Martin. I know you co-wrote "Astronaut" together, but did you get advice from him for any songs on either volume of Vertigo ?

Yeah, I played them pretty much most of it. He was so helpful. He has got such a good ear for things, and it was just nice playing music to someone who just knows exactly what I'm talking about, obviously. Also, fresh ears on something is so valuable with anything. When you're making something or in any creative process, you've either seen, heard or read it a lot of times, and so you lose sight of what makes sense, what chorus is good and what melody should go again. He gave me a lot of advice, like, "That one's great. You should do that bit again. That makes your chorus."

It was a really fun evening to sit with him because I got to a place with all of the songs where I was like, "I don't know if any of this is good" — genuinely. That's not any fake humility or anything, I was genuinely like, "I don't know what I'm doing here." It came at a time where he was suddenly like, "Just stay on the path and keep working on it. It's going to be great."

Since breaking through with singles like "Black Hole," do you feel like you've been able to take in the big moments — touring with massive artists, winning a BRIT Award — as they've come?

I don't think I have, but maybe that's also intentional, again, with the whole pressure thing. The more I think about it, the more crippling it gets. Whereas, if I just let the BRITs and “Black Hole” and everything since then just be another day in the life, it helps me just carry on in a way that I can digest. Otherwise, it all gets a bit too overwhelming for me.

Dave Benett/Getty

One big difference in your approach to the mixtape and these EPs is your hair. The "bubble braid" became your signature look, and now you're sporting a forehead swirl. How did you decide to switch up the hair?

I don't know. I haven't said goodbye to the bubble braid forever, to be honest. I think the bubble braid became a really useful thing, just firstly, for people to be able to recognize me, and also to turn up to set and know exactly what my hair's going to look like. It's just one less thing to think about. And especially with having Afro hair, it was just a protective hairstyle that worked. With this season, the spiral has been a real symbol for this whole era. So, it's just fun to incorporate it into different things — that's the thinking behind all of the different hair choices. But I enjoy playing with all of it.

Does the spiral hold significance in this era?

Definitely, yeah. I feel like it sums up the feeling of the whole project. And even starting with “Vertigo,” the idea of things spinning and being out of balance. I think “Vertigo,” to me, resonates in an emotional sense and the idea of heartbreak feeling like emotional vertigo, this spiraling feeling. I think it encapsulates what the album is about, for sure.

At the first WrestleMania in Philly in 25 years, The Rock returned in style ... but he wasn't the only star in the ring.

Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson made a special guest appearance at WrestleMania, helping Rey Mysterio, who was wearing an Eagles-themed outfit, win his tag-team match against his son.

In addition to Mysterio's costume and his famous partners, The New Day paid tribute to Rocky while Rhea Ripley came out to a live performance from a Scranton band .

The Rock's involvement in his first match since 2016, and his insanely elaborate entrance, certainly brought a big-match feel to the final bout of the opening night.

WrestleMania can't top Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran is still the heavyweight champion of Lincoln Financial Field.

The WWE sold-out the Linc on Saturday night’s first night of WrestleMania but could not knock-off Sheeran for the stadium’s attendance record. WWE said 72,543 fans were in attendance on Saturday while Sheeran played in front of 77,900 in South Philly in June of 2023.

Cargill, who teamed with Bianca Belair and Naomi in a terrific six-woman tag team match, helped lead her team over Damage CTRL, which includes Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane.

The Usos show no brotherly love in family affair

One of the most anticipated matches of the evening was Jey Uso facing his twin brother, Jimmy Uso. Family, and former tag team champions, turned enemies.

The storyline centered on Jey leaving The Bloodline stable, which is led by undisputed universal Champion Roman Reigns and will be featured in the night's main event, while Jimmy stayed under the thumb of the Tribal Chief.

Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson make surprise appearance at WrestleMania

Jason Kelce is retired but that didn’t stop him from returning to his old stomping grounds on Saturday night.

The Eagles’ icon joined former teammate Lane Johnson at WrestleMania 40 at Lincoln Financial Field as they helped Rey Mysterio, who was wearing Eagles-themed gear. Kelce and Johnson jumped out of the crowd wearing midnight-green luchador masks and roughed up Mysterio’s son, Dominik, who was his dad’s opponent in the tag-team match.

Rey Mysterio and Andrade get some brotherly love in tag-team match

Rey Mysterio and Andrade faced Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio in the third encounter of the evening, but the middling match will most be remembered by the appearance of two Philadelphia Eagles: retired center Jason Kelce, and left tackle Lane Johnson.

Despite an ongoing feud between Rey, who was adorned in Eagles-themed tights, and hIs real-life son, Dominik, the match lacked any significant heat. And it didn't help that one of its key competitors, Dragon Lee, was a late scratch, replaced by Andrade after Lee was taken out in a backstage attack on Friday Night's Smackdown and replaced with Andrade.
