EMBRZ Opens Up About the Emotional Depth of ‘In Our Own Way’
After the release of In Our Own Way , we sat down with EMBRZ, who revealed how he’s preserved his authentic self while exploring the depths of love.
In the ever-changing landscape of electronic dance music, few artists manage to capture both the heart and the imagination. Jack Casey, who goes by the moniker EMBRZ , has proven that electronic music can be a soul-stirring and profoundly moving experience. His music invites listeners to explore a world of emotion and beauty while filling their ears with euphoric melodies and dreamy soundscapes. When he began writing music in his teens, nothing could’ve prepared him for how his career would take off only a few years later.
House music icon Lane 8 caught wind of EMBRZ’s talents in 2020 and immediately took him under his wing. He has since fostered a forever home for his distinctive brand of melodic house music on his label, This Never Happened . EMBRZ has already racked up quite an impressive discography on the label, having released multiple singles, EPs, and even his debut album on the renowned imprint. Just last month, he also handed over his sophomore album, In Our Own Way , to TNH which, to him, “ felt like a no-brainer .” Lane 8 may have helped ignite the career of EMBRZ, but his journey is only just beginning to heat up.
In Our Own Way signifies an important milestone of EMBRZ’s career. His artistic development and matured vision are evident in the album’s intricate production and thematic depth. Embracing a vast sonic spectrum, the album offers a diverse blend of electronic sub-genres while never losing sight of his core signature sound. It also displays his songwriting skills with a handful of tracks featuring his own delicate vocals, while maintaining a cohesive narrative and encouraging listeners to explore themes of love and connection.
We all show love in our own way, whether it be through words, acts of kindness or simple gestures. Mine is through music, and this album has been my way of both exploring and expressing it. I’ve always found it difficult to talk about how I feel, especially when it comes to love. At its core, that’s what ‘In Our Own Way’ is all about: love and connection. EMBRZ
The sky’s the limit for EMBRZ and with this album, he has solidified his place within electronic music. Continue reading below for our chat on how he makes music In “His” Own Way .
Stream EMBRZ – In Our Own Way on Spotify:
Hi EMBRZ! Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us today. First off, a huge congratulations on the release of your sophomore album In Our Own Way . You can really hear how your sound has grown and evolved since your debut album, but how do you feel you’ve grown as an artist since the release of Moments ?
Cheers! I feel I’ve grown as a songwriter over the last year or so. I enjoy producing, but find writing lyrics to be more personal, which can be intimidating but also rewarding. A lot of the songs on my new album were born from me just messing around on the piano, humming random ideas until something clicked. Then, when the song was formed, I’d begin the production on the computer. There are a lot of tracks that I’m singing on, but that actually wasn’t intentional. We explored different vocalists, but it either didn’t feel right, or I just got used to my voice on the demo, and switching felt weird.
But besides that, I wanted diversity of sound. I love all types of music and wanted to have a few bangers, some chill pop tracks, and everything in between. The fact that ‘Hypnotise’ & ‘Grá’ make up the same album feels great to me.
Given this is your second album released on Lane 8’s imprint, This Never Happened, what about the label makes it the perfect home for this album and your music in general?
I’ve only had great experiences working with TNH over the past two years or so, on the last album and many EPs. I love that Daniel (Lane 8) is closely involved in the music, always giving great feedback and suggesting ideas. It’s different when one of your favourite producers gives you feedback! But I also feel like we’re in sync with what I’m trying to do. TNH has given me the creative freedom to write the music I want (which is also when I write my best) because I think we’re all on the same page about the project and its vision. The label also has a great community of loyal fans, not to mention all the artists on the roster that I’ve met, hung out with, and had a blast with at shows. So it felt like a no-brainer.
In a Facebook post, you said, “This album is about exploring the different types of love.” Can you elaborate on this?
I’m not very good at talking about my emotions in real life; I just get too awkward, unless I’ve had several beers. [Laughs] But music has always been a safe place for me to dive into things that I find hard to verbalize, and that’s what I wanted to do with this album. Cause what could be bigger than this subject [love]? When I was writing, I just found it interesting that there are different ways of expressing love without saying it. Writing music has been my way, I guess. There are songs about things personal to me, and then there are songs about stories in TV shows or being inspired by a certain idea I read or hear about.
In Our Own Way features a handful of tracks with your own vocals on them. What made you decide to showcase your own vocals on specific tracks?
Good question, because it is a different skill to producing. I feel like you have to remove yourself from your computer and technology and go back to basics. Pen, paper, guitar/piano, and just try out ideas. It’s definitely not for everyone. I’ve been lucky to work with a great songwriter, Glen Roberts, for a couple of years, and the many writing sessions I’ve had with him have really helped me get better. You just have to test out ideas and not feel embarrassed if they suck because that bad idea can usually lead to something else that works. Also, I want to hear the artists I listen to tell me something about themselves in their music.
What advice and/or tips do you have for producers who are looking to sing and write lyrics for their own tracks?
My general rule for writing and it’s just something I’ve learned over the years, is to write music for yourself. If you like it, then it’s good enough.
You are midway through your North American album tour. What are you most looking forward to on the rest of the tour?
The shows! Honestly, traveling sounds good on paper; you get to go to all these different places, but it gets exhausting, and you don’t really have that much time to go explore. So much of touring is trying to conserve your energy and catch up on sleep. But every time I’m on stage, no matter how wrecked I am, and people are there to have a good time, singing back the words to my songs, it’s a special feeling. Sounds corny, but it’s incredible. Now if they could just invent teleportation, then touring would be a piece of cake.

By the numbers: Statistics confirm Scottie Scheffler's historical dominance
Change Text Size
Is impending fatherhood the only thing stopping Scottie Scheffler? Quite possibly.
His historic run continued Monday when he completed his victory at the RBC Heritage. It was his fourth win in his past five starts, a run that also included victories at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, THE PLAYERS Championship and the Masters. The only exception was a runner-up finish at the Texas Children’s Houston Open, where he missed a 6-footer to join Stephan Jaeger in a playoff.
Scottie Scheffler’s Round 4 highlights From RBC Heritage
Scheffler has seemed invincible lately, and the statistics confirm that. Here’s a closer look at some of the key stats that put Scheffler’s historic play into perspective:
- By winning at Harbour Town Golf Links, Scheffler became the first player since Bernhard Langer in 1985 to win the RBC Heritage one week after winning the Masters .
- Scheffler is the first player since Tiger Woods in 2006 to win the week after winning a major .
- With four wins and a runner-up in his past five starts, Scheffler is the first player since Woods in 2007-08 to have five consecutive top-two finishes . Vijay Singh is the only other player to have such a run in the past 30 years (2004).
- This was Scheffler’s 10th PGA TOUR victory, coming in just his 51st start since he earned his first win at the 2022 WM Phoenix Open. Only David Duval has needed fewer starts after his first win to reach victory No. 10. Duval did it in 33 starts. Tiger Woods is third on the list with 59 starts.
- In his 51 starts since the 2022 WM Phoenix Open, Scheffler also has 23 top-three finishes (45%) and 35 top-10s (68.6%).
- All 10 of Scheffler’s wins have come since the start of the 2021-22 season. He is the first player to win 10 (or more) times on the PGA TOUR in the span of three seasons since Dustin Johnson won 10 titles between 2015-16 and 2017-18.
- This is Scheffler’s fourth win of the season, matching his career-high from 2022. He is the fourth player with multiple four-win seasons since the start of 2000 , joining Woods (10), Singh, (3) and Phil Mickelson (2).
- Scheffler has now recorded 40 consecutive TOUR rounds at par or better , a streak that began in the final round of the 2023 TOUR Championship. He’s 12 back of Woods’ all-time TOUR mark of 52 straight rounds at par or better (set across 2000-01).
- In each of Scheffler’s last seven victories, eight or more of the top 10 players in the Official World Golf Ranking have been in the field . His most recent run of four wins in five starts has included two Signature Events (Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard, RBC Heritage), THE PLAYERS and the Masters.
- Scheffler is averaging 5.38 birdies per round this season, on pace to set the all-time TOUR record for single-season birdie average (since the statistic was first tracked in 1980) . Woods set the current record (4.92) in 2020.
- In his 39 rounds this season, he has outperformed the field average 35 times . He’s been at least a shot better than the field 30 times, at least two shots better 26 times and at least three shots better 19 times.
- Scheffler leads the TOUR in Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green by nearly a shot per round this season , after finishing atop the category by more than two-thirds of a stroke per round last season. No player had previously led the category by more than four-tenths of a stroke per round since Woods in 2009.

LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations
Speaking ahead of LIV Golf’s Adelaide event in his native Australia, Greg Norman offered his perspective on the state of the game.

Share All sharing options for: LIV Golf not going anywhere; “totally separate” from PGA Tour, PIF negotiations
Since LIV Golf launched in the spring of 2022, golf has been in flux, with the game’s best players competing on two separate circuits.
Many other issues exist within this reality, too. Money, equity, and, given who LIV Golf’s beneficiary is, moral issues and geopolitical ramifications have all bled into the sport.
Nevertheless, in an attempt to rectify this, PGA Tour brass and the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) established a framework agreement on Jun. 6, 2023 , that not only shocked the sporting world but also set a pathway for the two sides to come together and re-establish a unified golf tour. Negotiations have occurred since then, but a finalized deal remains far away.
Yet, LIV Golf did not appear within that framework agreement then, and they do not have any influence on those negotiations now, according to LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman .
“I would love to give you insight, but I don’t have any. We at LIV are totally separate from that part of the negotiation,” Norman said in South Australia ahead of this week’s LIV Golf Adelaide event.
“We at LIV are a standalone company being invested in by the same investor interested in the game of golf. Our investor wanted to invest in LIV because he loved the opportunity of the franchise model, what he could do with it, and how we could build it out on a global platform.”
Since last June, Norman has continued to champion LIV Golf’s cause, indicating on numerous occasions that its strength as a start-up league has never been stronger.
Nobody knows how LIV will look or how it will fit into professional golf’s new structure should the PGA Tour and the PIF strike a deal.
But Norman remains as confident in LIV Golf as he ever has. He said he received numerous compliments at Augusta National , where he lingered among the patrons at this year’s Masters Tournament . Norman said dozens of people approached him there and told him they love what he and LIV Golf have accomplished.
“The support, the recognition, the comments that were made, it was almost unanimous for three straight days walking around with people,” Norman said.
“To see it and to hear it and to hear the comments they made about what’s happening to the game of golf and the go that LIV has brought to the game of golf, it was very, very strong for me. It was a very powerful three days.”
Norman, who envisioned a global golf tour in the mid-1990s, has seen that dream become a reality through LIV. He has helped bring golf to different places around the world often neglected by the PGA Tour and other major tours, such as Singapore, Thailand, and his native Australia.
In its first full year of operation last year, the event in Adelaide welcomed 77,000 fans, making it LIV’s most successful event of 2023. The “Watering Hole,” which has drawn comparisons to TPC Scottsdale’s famous par-3 16th , was a smashing success, too.
Over 100,000 spectators are expected at the South Australia tournament this week.
“This event here from last to this year is the benchmark for LIV,” Norman said.
“We get all the other events, 13 events around the world, to take a look at what we’ve delivered here, what Adelaide has delivered, what the state government has delivered, and what the local community and the region have delivered, and you go. It can be done.”
Norman’s focus remains on LIV, not on the negotiations between the PIF and the PGA Tour.
“I don’t know what’s going on over there,” Norman added.
“I really don’t want to know what’s going on over there because we are so fixated on growing and developing and building out what LIV is today and looking and doing our schedule for 2025 and going into 2026. Our responsibility is to look after our people, our players, and where we want to go.”

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour took over Houston in 2023. Can The Rolling Stones top it?
T he Rolling Stones tour is set to make a stop at NRG Stadium Sunday for the band’s first Houston concert since 2019. The performance comes on the heels of an album release by another music legend — Taylor Swift — whose three-day stop in Houston one year ago received shows of appreciation from fans and elected officials alike.
With the Stones' Hackney Diamonds Tour underway and Swift's 11th studio album , "The Tortured Poets Department,” that dropped last week, both music industry icons maintain dedicated fanbases worldwide.
The 1960s rock n' roll band has been performing for decades. The Stones hold a record for drawing one of the largest crowds in rock n’ roll history during a show in Rio de Janeiro , with 1.5 million people, PBS reported. Swift is no stranger to large crowds either, with one of her shows in Melbourne seeing more than 96,000 people, according to Deadline.
However, both music artists made their mark in Houston during their most recent concerts: the Stones' No Filter Tour in 2019 and Swift's Eras Tour in 2023. The success of their concerts highlighted their strong fanbases in the Bayou City.
TAYLOR SWIFT : Here's a look at Texas ties to the latest release 'The Tortured Poets Department'
How did the city react to The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert?
Excited fans first caught on to the Rolling Stones’ planned 2019 Houston concert when NRG Park teased the tour stop in an email. Park officials sent an email to subscribers with the band's logo at the end of the email and no further explanation.
The 2019 show would be the Stones’ first Houston appearance in more than 10 years. The group even teamed up with the NFL for a Houston Texans—Rolling Stones jersey.
NRG Stadium officials said the venue is happy to have the band back any time.
"We're thrilled to host the legendary Rolling Stones at NRG Stadium as the first stop on their Hackney Diamonds Tour. As Mick Jagger might say, 'Start me up' – and what better place to kick off this iconic tour than right here in Houston? We look forward to welcoming fans from near and far to enjoy a night of timeless rock 'n' roll classics. Get ready to rock the night away at NRG Stadium!" stadium officials said in a statement.
How did the city react to Taylor Swift's 2023 concert?
Houston was the second city on Swift's Eras Tour .
A marketing campaign was launched to temporarily rename NRG Stadium to "NRG Stadium - Taylor's Version," initiated by NRG Park and Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo's office. Banners were placed with the temporary name on the stadium's north and south entrances.
The City Hall also honored Swift and her mother, a University of Houston alum, by lighting the building in a “lavender haze.”
How many tickets were sold at The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert?
The Rolling Stones had to postpone their 2019 No Filter Tour dates in North America because of Mick Jagger’s heart surgery. But the rescheduled concert still brought in more than 40,000 fans for its one-night stop in Houston.
How many tickets were sold at Taylor Swift's 2023 concert?
During Taylor Swift's three sold-out performances at NRG Stadium, more than 180,000 tickets were distributed, which averaged about 60,000 a day.
NRG CONCERTS : The Rolling Stones announce Houston set for next spring
The impact of The Rolling Stones' 2019 concert in Houston
The organization Houston First found that the hotel market revenue during the Stones’ concert was $16 million between July 26-28, 2019. The occupancy was about 64%.
The impact of Taylor Swift's 2023 concert in Houston
The impact of Taylor Swift's three-day tour in Houston wasn't only shown through the name change at NRG Stadium, but also in the economic impact.
Her tour happened the same weekend as a large convention downtown which likely contributed to the boost in Houston’s market, according to Houston First. Still, the organization found that the hotel market revenue was a whopping $34 million between April 21-23, 2023, which was a 30% increase from the same three days in 2022. The occupancy was about 78%.
