Genting Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review – Part 4: Activities and Shows

There’s one similarity that I notice in every cruise trips that I’ve been on: there are too many activities on a cruise and you simply can’t do everything. If you want to experience as much activities as possible, you need to plan your itinerary properly, otherwise, you might missed out on certain activities.

But you can’t plan the itinerary before you’re on board, because cruises only distribute the daily schedule when you’re on board. So, what you can do before boarding is to determine what kind of activities you want to take part in. When you’re on board, you can plan the sequence of the activities.

In this article, I’ll try to share as much info as I have regarding activities on the World Dream Cruise to Nowhere. Hopefully by the end of this article, you’ll know what you want to take part in.

Genting Dream Cruise to Nowhere (2021) Series Part 1: Reservation, ART Test, Boarding Part 2: Balcony Stateroom Part 3: All Inclusive Dining Part 4: Activities and Shows Part 5: Tips for FOMO Travelers

PS: During my visit in 2021, the ship was called World Dream . However, they changed name to Resort World Cruise in 2022. Just want you to know that they’re interchangeable =)

What are the activities in World Dream?

What are the shows in world dream and how to book them, tips on booking activities and shows.

Some activities and shows require advance booking, while others are based on first come first served basis (which means you need to queue before the activities/show start).

The most popular activities that always get fully booked are jacuzzi, swimming pool, mini golf, table tennis and shows. To ensure you get a slot in jacuzzi, pool, golf and table tennis, do turn up at the respective booking counters early in the morning, after your breakfast.

Getting a jacuzzi slot is extremely difficult. If you don’t get a jacuzzi slot, you can bet on your luck by booking a pool slot, then if the person using jacuzzi is done for the day, you can jump in. Alternatively, you can pay for Crystal Life Spa access (SGD 20) to enjoy steam room, sauna and hot bath which is almost similar to jacuzzi except that it’s indoor.

Booking for free shows can be done via Dream App. The slots are not released all at once, instead, limited slots are released every hour, making it quite difficult to snatch a slot if you do not have fast fingers. If you don’t get a slot via the Dream App but you’re very keen to watch the show, here’s a secret: queue at the studio 15-20 mins before the show; if there are guests that don’t turn up when the show starts, they’ll let you in.

If you hate the idea of having to make booking for most of the activities, then you can probably consider booking Palace Suite or above, because Palace customers can book activities via a special lane, they don’t have to queue at reservation counter or constantly checking the Dream App to register for activities.

Non-Palace customers like us can swim at the Main Pool (Deck 16 MID). Reservation must be made in advance at the towel counter beside the main pool. Each reservation is valid for 1 hour only. Towel is provided for free. However, there’s no locker, so you need to put your stuffs on the sun lounge. We decided not to bring our phones to prevent them being stolen. But we still need to bring room key and tracey token with us at all times.

To be honest, I feel that the pool is quite small (and not clean). Once is definitely enough. For us, we couldn’t get a jacuzzi slot because it’s fully booked when we wanted to book it. So what we did was book the pool slot and bet our luck that people who booked jacuzzi during the same timeslot as us would finish their dip in less than 1 hour, and we could use the jacuzzi when they’re done. Our bet paid off.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - Main pool

There are 4 jacuzzi surrounding the main pool (Deck 16 MID), and there are 2 jacuzzi at Zouk Beach Club (Deck 17 AFT). Jacuzzi is a very popular activities that always get fully booked early. It is a hot water jacuzzi so it’s best enjoyed in the morning or late afternoon or evening. Some of the jacuzzi are sheltered and some are not, so it really depends on your luck which one you’ll get.

If you manage to snatch a slot, you’ll have the jacuzzi for yourselves and no other groups are allowed to join in your jacuzzi during this corona period. That explains why jacuzzi has a very high demand.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - Jacuzzi

Waterslides

There are 2 clusters of waterslides, let’s call it the kid’s slide and adult’s slides.

The kid’s slide is the orange color slide, and it’s located at Deck 16 MID, just beside the main pool. Beside kid’s slides, there is also a children pool.

The adult’s slides are located at Deck 17 AFT, and it’s called Waterslide Park. There are 5 slides with different difficulties, starting from the easiest at No 1, to the scariest at No 5. It’s recommended that you take the slides in ascending order, starting from No 1 and ending at No 5.

Personally I only took No 1, 2 and 3. I did not dare to take No 4 and 5 because both of them are very steep. No 5 even had a small stretch in the beginning where you’ll experience almost free fall. To be honest, I feel pain at my back from the friction with the slide’s joints, I’m not sure if it’s normal but it definitely discouraged me from going on unlimited slides.

I highly recommend that you try these slides. No reservation is required, just wear your swimsuit and climb the staircase from Deck 16 to Deck 17. When you’re halfway at the stairs, there is a rack for you to hang your mask, watch, glass, and whatever accessories that aren’t allowed on the slides. Since we need to bring key room and tracey token with you all the time, we just put them on sun lounge by the main pool. There’s no other way, there’s no locker for slides users.

Rope Course & Zipline

This is the most challenging as well as the most rewarding activity I’ve done throughout this cruise trip. Rope Course is located at Deck 18 AFT. No reservation is required but you need to join the long queue. From my observation, it is least crowded after 4pm. Of course don’t wait until 4pm on your last evening, because it might rain! You need to wear your own shoes for this activity. There is a small locker for you to keep your room key, token, and accessories, no fee is required for usage of this locker.

There are 2 tiers in this rope course, one is closer to the ground (let’s call it the lower one), one is above the lower one (let’s call it the higher one). No queue/harness system is required for the lower one, and it’s less fun. I skipped the lower one and went straight to the higher one. And, yes, you need to wear mask throughout the entire course!

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - Rope Course (1)

At the start of the course, we were briefed by the crew on how to lock and unlock the harness hook. Then, we’re off on our own. There are plenty of combination of routes you can take, but most people take the outer edge route. If the inner route (diagonal route) looks easier for you, then you should go for it. For me, I took the outer route.

The rope course is HARD! I am scared of height, and having to balance my body on a shaky rope platform at height terrifies me, but I’m willing to fight through the terror just to get to zipline starting point. You can’t go straight to zipline starting point, you MUST go through the rope course.

World Dream Cruise /to Nowhere Review - Activities - Rope Course

I thought the shaky platform was the worst part of this entire course, but I was wrong. At the end of shaky platform, before the zipline, there is a rope wall that we have to scale horizontally! The ropes are not tensed, so you need to exert a lot of strength to support your body. Furthermore, there is no belay system! You’re just relying on your own arm and leg strength. And to make it worse, it’s not a flat rope wall, there is a solid steel plate in the middle of the wall which you need to climb over to get to the other side! Who’s the genius that designed this course??

World Dream Cruise /to Nowhere Review - Activities - Rope Course

If your arms and legs are not strong enough and you let go of the rope, you’ll be hanging in the air and people behind you will be stuck because they can’t overtake you. So much pressure was building up inside of me. I told the zipline staff (who’s standing at the other end of the rope wall) that I’m very scared and I don’t think I could do it. He told me not to worry and he would help me. I made the leap of faith to scale the wall and he climbed the rope wall towards me and grabbed my harness over the big steel plate.

In a few minutes, I’m over the freaky rope course, phew! And then, I’m on the zipline, woohoo! I highly recommend this activity to be in your itinerary!

Rock Climbing Wall

The rock climbing wall is located at Deck 18 AFT, just next to Rope Course. No reservation is required. They provide special rock climbing shoes but you need your own socks. There is a place for you to put belongings while you’re climbing the wall, so you don’t need to leave your belonging on the sun lounge while queueing.

There are 4 belay systems, but it doesn’t mean that 4 people will get to climb at the same time. When we queued, only 1 person was allowed to climb at one time (not sure why they didn’t open the entire 4 lines). Because of this, the waiting was incredibly long. When we started queueing, there were less than 10 people in front of us. After q-ing for 1 hour, it’s still not our turn yet, and suddenly rain came. So the activity was stopped for the day, and we wasted 1 hour for nothing.

If you’re not a hard core rock climber, I think queueing for this activity is not worth your time, especially if only 1 person is allowed to climb at one time.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - Rock Climbing Wall

Mini Golf is an activity that falls in the “low supply, high demand” camp. There is basically just 1 mini golf course in the entire cruise, and only 1 group is allowed to play at any time. So, obviously it’s hard to get a slot if you try to book it not on the first day.

Reservation can be done at the counter near rope course & rock climbing. We didn’t get a slot when we tried to book on the second day. We didn’t know there’s a golf course, so we didn’t register early. If you’re keen, do book early.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - Mini Golf

Table Tennis

Table tennis is located at Deck 18 AFT near rope course and rock climbing. Booking can be done at the counter near rope course.

Table tennis falls in the “high supply, high demand” camp. There are several tables and each reservation slot is limited to 30 mins only. So, it’s quite easy to get a slot for table tennis. Rest assured, rackets and balls are provided. We tried to book a slot on Day 2, and the earliest slot available was Day 3, so we took it.

Basketball/Volleyball

To play basketball/volleyball, you need to make reservation for SportsPlex. SportsPlex is located at Deck 19 AFT and reservation can be done at Deck 18 AFT. Ball sports are not my forte, so we didn’t venture into SportsPlex. From my observation, the sportsplex is always occupied, so you probably need to make a booking early to get a reservation slot.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - sportsplex

The gym is called Crystal Life Fitness. It is located at Deck 15 FWD. Reservation is necessary and can be done at Crystal Life Spa (also Deck 15 FWD) or via phone. Each reservation is limited to 1.5 hours of usage.

The gym has spectacular view of the ocean. If you’re a jogger or runner, the gym is definitely a better place to run compared to the outdoor jogging track which is too short and too crowded.

Bridge Viewing Room

We stumbled upon Bridge Viewing Room by accident. We finished our dinner and decided to wander around the ship, then we walked into this room with a model of the ship.

On a normal day, if you visit this room, you can see what’s inside the Captain’s room. However, when we visited at night on Day 1, and the curtain between this room and Captain’s room was rolled down, hence we couldn’t see the room.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - Bridge Viewing Deck (1)

It isn’t a Dream Cruise if there is no mention of casino, right? While casinos on mainland Singapore charges SGD 150 for citizens and permanent residents, the casino on the cruise is free to enter, so that probably explains why casino on Dream Cruise is a huge hit. During my trip, the casino is open around 45 mins after departure and close around 1.5 hour before arrival at Singapore.

The main part of casino is located at Deck 6, 7 and 8, which consists of the usual slot machines, card games, table games as well as arcade-like games such as coin dozers. I don’t know how to play card or table games, so I spent a few dollars playing coin dozer, and sadly, I didn’t make money from it.

Everyday, there are Bingo games held at Deck 6 MID. The grand prize for Bingo increases everyday, so if you want to win the highest amount of prize, the best time to play is at the last game. The game is pretty fast-paced, the host mentions so many numbers in a short span of time, so you need to have sharp ears, fast eyes and fast fingers.

I’m not a gambler, I will only take risk when I know the result is purely based on luck & skill, and result is not easily fabricated by the house. After watching the Bingo games, I noticed that the numbers are generated by computer, not by a physical machine that draws randomly-numbered balls. There is a small chance that the numbers being called is not random, so I decided not to partake in the game even though the reward is very attractive. The reward for the final game is SGD 62,888, and nobody won this prize.

Virtual Reality is located at Esc EXPERIENCE LAB. You can get free VR tickets if you purchase Dream Boys show. I didn’t tried any VR games, probably because I was too focused on water activities, rope course, food and shows. It is something I’d really like to try in the future if I’m going on a cruise again. The price is not cheap, but I think it’s worth trying at least once, since I’ve never tried a VR before.

Shows at Zodiac Theatre

During my time, the main shows at Zodiac Theatre were Vision (magic show), Faith (music/dance show) and Twice as Nice (music show), and Tribute to Teresa Teng. Booking must be done via Dream App.

We managed to watch Vision, Faith and Twice as Nice. But we didn’t manage to watch Teresa Teng because there was always empty slot in the Dream app, and we turned up at the theatre too late, there was no more empty seats.

I feel that there is sort of discrimination for non-Palace customers because we don’t get to sit at the center-front section of the theatre. The center section is reserved for Palace customers. I guess that’s a way to lure you to book Palace rooms for your next cruise.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Shows at Zodiac Theatre

Before the show, the staffs would sell lucky draw coupons in the theatre. I didn’t buy because they were not cheap and I am just a risk-adverse person. But I could tell that these coupons were quite a hot commodity.

The first show that we watched was Vision. I quite enjoy this magic show, I think the way Vincent engage the audience is sometimes hilarious.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Shows - Vision

The second show that we watched was Faith. Because the show time was quite late at night (10pm+), I was worn out by the time I sank into the seat. I couldn’t enjoy the show probably due to my exhaustion.

The third show that we watched was Twice as Nice. It’s a music performance by a couple from America, who can sing in various languages. They did a good job by singing familiar tunes and even a Chinese song.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Shows - Twice as Nice

Live Music at Sea

Live Music at Sea is basically small-scale music performance conducted at Tributes (Deck 8) or Palm Court (Deck 19). The schedule can be found in the Dream Daily. No reservation is allowed, keen cruise-goers must queue in front of the venue before the performance starts.

We didn’t manage to watch these performance because we either arrived at the venue too late (it was already full and we weren’t allowed to enter), or we were too exhausted and decided not to watch them. The shows are mostly conducted at night, when our batteries are almost flat. If you’re a night owl, you’ll definitely enjoy live music performance at night.

Cinema at Sea

During the cruise, several movies are played at Lobby (Deck 6 MID) and Zouk Beach Club (Deck 17 AFT). Schedule and venue can be found in Dream Daily. No reservation is required. We didn’t watch them because it’s just not something we’re interested to do. Furthermore, it’s an open cinema, not enclosed, so it doesn’t give the same vibe as the real cinema.

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere Review - Activities - Cinema at Sea Lobby

Adventure Laser Display

On the last day, there are laser displays at the main pool deck. They’re short performances, about 5-minute long, at 10pm, 10.30pm and 11pm. Unfortunately I was too exhausted to watch these. Luckily, I can watch it on YouTube, thanks to people who uploaded their videos of this laser show.

Dream Boys is a very popular show featuring hot boys, as the title suggests. Ticket is required to watch the show, and it is not cheap! During my time, it costs SGD 60 per person, and it comes with 2 free VR tickets. Many people recommends the show, but we couldn’t justify spending SGD 60 per person for a 45-minute show plus 2 VR games, so we didn’t watch it. We just have different priorities.

You can’t do everything on a cruise, you have to pick your priorities. For us, our priorities are water activities, physical activities, watching shows, sipping drinks, and eating food. For you, it might be different.

Do take time to shortlist the activities that you want to do, so you don’t have to scratch your head deciding which activities to book when you’re on board.

GENTING DREAM: Cruise Guide for First-Timers

GENTING DREAM: Cruise Guide for First-Timers

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double check with the authorities or other concerned entities for the latest updates.

The idea of going on a cruise may be intimidating for some because of the cost. Others dismiss it as a retiree’s holiday option. That may be true many years back, but this trend is gradually changing as years roll by.

The rise of more cruise lines, offering different options and encouraging healthy competition, resulted in relatively reasonable cruise rates. Some of these companies are going the extra mile to reach out to the growing number of travelers that are willing to spend on things or experiences that give good value for money by creating themed cruise ships and coming up with innovative itineraries. Genting Dream is one of those that cater to a wide range of guests — friends, families, couples, and even company incentive trips (or sales conference/meeting).

If you will be sailing with Genting Dream soon and it is your first time, this post is for you. We hope this will help you prepare and maximize your cruise experience. Here are the things you can expect.

WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

Packing & Pre-Trip Preparations

genting dream cruise gym

  • Travel Documents. You need to bring these documents: passport, a photocopy of your passport’s bio page, a copy of your cruise ticket, and a visa (if necessary). If you are a Philippine passport holder, no visa needed because the sail destinations are within Southeast Asia and the homeport is Singapore. If you want a hassle-free purchase transaction, you may present your credit card.
  • Clothes/Outfits. Come on. We know you want to snap as many photos as you can while onboard and during shore excursions. We normally pack two sets of clothes per day: casual for the day activities and smart casual or dressy outfits for the night events, especially if you plan to watch the evening shows or try the fine-dining specialty restaurants. The same goes for footwear. The important thing is that you are comfortable.
  • Toiletries. The stateroom comes with the toiletries: shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, lotion, soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, cotton buds, and tissues. It also has bath towels, hand towels, bathrobes, and hotel slippers.
  • Check-in Luggage. Each passenger can check in more than one luggage without incurring additional fees.
  • Onboard Currency. The default currency while on the ship is the Singapore Dollar (SGD).
  • Onboard Time. Genting Dream follows Singapore time (same as the Philippines) throughout the entire cruise.
  • Dream Cruise Mobile App. Download the App before getting onboard. You can use the App to view ship information, see the daily onboard schedule, check availability of onboard attractions and facilities. You can also use this to send IM to your shipmates, purchase your onboard WiFi package, and review your onboard account statement.

genting dream cruise gym

  • Embarkation Process. Genting Dream is homeporting in Singapore at the Marina Bay Cruise Center. Upon arrival at the terminal, look for the baggage drop area for the pieces of luggage you want to check-in. Prepare your travel documents for check-in. After that, you will pass through immigration and then security checks before you can finally board the ship.
  • Checking-in. You need to present your cruise ticket at the check-in counter to get your Access Card that will serve as your cabin keycard and your purchase card for onboard shopping and when dining at specialty restaurants. You can check-in online via the official website from 7 days up to 24 hours prior to the departure date. If you are going on a shore excursion, you also need to present the Access Card when getting off and returning to the ship. Do not lose this card. When you do, relax. Go to the Reception and they will print another one for you after answering SOP questions.
  • Surrender Passport. Upon boarding, the staff will take your passport. Do not panic. You will get it back after the cruise (before you check out).

WELCOME ABOARD!

ATTENTION! Changi Lounge is offering the Fly-Cruise Transfer service, which includes: Seamless bag transfer. End-to-end luggage transfer from Changi Airport Baggage Claim area to the Marina Bay Cruise Terminal to your stateroom! Your luggage will be waiting for you in your cabin. Advance cruise check-in at the lounge. You will have your documents processed in advance and get your Access Card here. Enjoy the lounge amenities. Complimentary buffet, various drink selections, free internet connection, desktop computers, and electrical outlets. It also has meeting rooms, a nap room, and a shower room. You can also explore Jewel while waiting. The lounge is located near the famous Rain Vortex and the Changi Experience Studio. Ground transfer. The transportation to the cruise terminal from the airport is also covered. When you avail of this service, you will skip the check-in process at the Marina Bay Cruise Center and head straight to the immigration process.

Safety Drill

genting dream cruise gym

Before setting sail, there’s a safety drill that everyone is required to participate in. You need to pay attention and familiarize yourself with the ship’s map, especially your Assembly Station (which is indicated on your Access Card), and the emergency exits in case of an emergency. Check the Dream Daily/Dream Weekender directory that you will find in your cabin for the safety drill schedule. Ours was held at 9:00 PM.

3 Complimentary Restaurants

This is part of what you paid for when you booked your cruise ticket. You can dine here without incurring additional fees. It’s free-of-charge. Genting Dream has three inclusive restaurant options:

  • Dream Dining Room Lower. It serves either a semi-buffet type or Chinese set menu, depending on the schedule. You may check the Dream Daily/Dream Weekender directory for the info. This is located on Deck 7, Aft section of the ship. Reservation is required.
  • Dream Dining Room Upper. This only serves the Chinese set menu. This is located on Deck 8, Aft section of the ship. Reservation is required.
  • The Lido. This serves Asian and international buffet, including Halal and Indian cuisines. The outdoor area of the restaurant is a 24-hour snack place that also serves morning tea and afternoon tea. This is located on Deck 16, Aft section.

Dream Dining Room Upper and Lower have a ballroom hall-themed setting and floor-to-ceiling windows that afford guests the magnificent views of the ocean.

Note: Alcoholic drinks are not free-of-charge.

genting dream cruise gym

You may also try the specialty restaurants! Genting Dream has nine. Charges apply when dining at any of these, but if you are craving any of their offerings, go for it. Here are your options:

  • Umi Uma (Japanese Cuisine and Teppanyaki / Korean BBQ; Deck 8, Aft)
  • Hot Pot (Choice of meat, seafood or vegetarian hot pot; outdoor setting; Deck 8, Aft)
  • Prime Steakhouse by Mark Best (Western Dishes / Steak; Deck 8, Mid)
  • Seafood Grill by Mark Best (Western Dishes / Seafood; Deck 8, Mid)
  • Gelateria (Homemade Gelato; Deck 8, Aft)
  • Blue Lagoon (Hawker Food / Asian and International; Deck 7, Mid, open 24 hours)
  • Lobby Café (Coffee / Tea / Bread; Deck 6, Mid)
  • Silk Road Chinese Restaurant (Chinese Fine Dining; Deck 6, Forward)
  • Crystal Life Cuisine (Healthy Options; Deck 15, Forward)

Shore Excursions (Shorex)

To put it simply, these are pre-arranged tours at every stop. One of the best things I love about cruising is that you get to visit other countries while enjoying the cruise ship’s amenities and features at the same time.

This time with Genting Dream, we took the weekend getaway package with a stop at Bintan Island in Indonesia. For this stop, there are three Shorex options to choose from: Tanjung Urban Explorer, Scuba Tryout at Trikora Coast, and Bintan Black Coral Leisure Diving. We took the first option which includes Gurun Pasir Busung (sand desert), Telaga Biru (Blue Oasis), and Trily Resort Center Mangrove Forest in the itinerary.

genting dream cruise gym

You can also pull a D-I-Y. It’s up to you. Here are the scenarios:

  • Booking a Shorex. This is the same as joining a guided group tour. You won’t have to worry about getting to one attraction to the next or how much it will cost you because everything, including the meal, will be taken care of for you by the local tour operator partners. You can be assured that you will return to the ship on time.
  • Pulling a D-I-Y. You can travel at your own pace and control your itinerary. It is also a cheaper option. BUT, you need to be aware of the time. Make sure that you return to the port on time or earlier because the ship will not wait for you. It will leave, with or without you.

Whatever you choose, you will be given a small sheet of paper upon disembarkation. This usually contains instructions and the address of the port where the ship is docked. Don’t forget to bring your Access Card and a photocopy of your passport bio page.

Note: Some Shorex options may require a lot of walking or trekking or activities that might not be suitable for those with health issues. Carefully check the itinerary and assess if the tour is viable for you. Also, each tour needs a minimum number of participants. A tour may be canceled if it doesn’t meet the minimum requirement.

Room and Amenities

genting dream cruise gym

Genting Dream has four types of accommodations: Interior Stateroom, Oceanview Stateroom, Balcony Stateroom, and the exclusive suites, collectively referred to as The Palace. Since the ship caters to families and big groups, there are over 100 connecting rooms. About 70 percent of accommodations feature spacious balcony staterooms. Aside from the toiletries and towels, the rooms also have haird ryer, mini-refrigerator, safe, water kettle, complimentary bottled water, tea, coffee, and sugar packets. These are replenished daily as housekeeping do regular cleaning.

The cheapest is the Interior Stateroom. If you want to make the most of the ship’s features, you will probably be spending most of your time outside the room — swimming, sunbathing, eating, playing, shopping, watching shows or going on shore excursions.

Here are some amenities that you can enjoy for FREE:

Evening Shows and Events

The night is as exciting as the day onboard Genting Dream. You can choose from brilliant live production shows brought to you by the award-winning international entertainment team. During our cruise, we have two choices: SONIO – A Tale of Two Dreams and Some Like It Hot. We were able to watch the latter at Zodiac Theatre. You need to reserve your seat for the show at the Box Office on Deck 6 (Mid). You can find the opening hours of the Box Office on the Dream Daily/Dream Weekender directory sheet provided in your cabin.

If you want to brush up on your moves and still got the energy to dance the night away, let Zouk and Zouk Beach Club orchestrate an unforgettable party for you as it brings the best beats by world-class DJs. Both are located on Deck 17. Zouk is Singapore’s most sought-after nightclub and consistently chosen one of the top ten clubs in the world.

If you booked a 5-night cruise, expect a grand night party on the last night called Dream Night. This usually happens at the pool deck. You can also check out the bars if you just want to have a sip and unwind. Here are some of them: Sun Deck Bar (Deck 17/Mid), Pool Deck Bar (Deck 16/Mid), Red Lion (Deck 7/Mid/24 hours), Bar 360 (Deck 6/Mid), Karaoke (five rooms/Deck 6/Mid), and Bar City, a collection of bars in one area: Johnnie Walker House, Penfolds Wine Vault, Mixt Cocktail Bar, Humidor Cigar Lounge, and Bubbles Champagne Bar (Deck 8/Mid).

The day before disembarkation, you will receive a Disembarkation Notice explaining the check out procedure, disembarkation procedure, travel document collection, and baggage collection.

  • If you don’t want to carry your luggage throughout the disembarkation process, you may leave it outside your cabin on or before the specified time. Set aside a small carry on bag for all the important stuff such as your wallet, your travel documents, prescribed medicine, etc. Get your luggage at the Baggage Claim Area after going through the immigration process.
  • Settle your account’s balance before checking out to avoid delays during disembarkation. Reminder: A mandatory gratuity of SGD21 per night is charged to EVERY guest. For guests staying in the suite, it’s SGD26 per night. This rule is not applicable to infants below two years old.

Genting World Dream Cruise To Nowhere ART Test & “Cruise As You Wish” Policy

Genting World Dream - Cruise As You Wish Policy

Dream Cruises utilise the Antigen Rapid Test (ART) as part of the pre-departure swab test. All you have to do is to arrive at the allocated time, take the ART and await results. Results will be sent to you via SMS. However, as advised by the staff on site, refreshing your TraceTogether App would reveal the results about 5 to 10 minutes earlier than the SMS notification .

ART result on TraceTogether App about 20 minutes after ART was taken

With the Cruise As You Wish Policy, you can make cancellations up to 48 hours before the cruise. However, the big question is, “ What if your ART comes back positive just before departure? “. In that case, according to the Cruise As You Wish Policy, you will receive refunds in the form of future cruise credit . The Cruise As You Wish policy applies to all sailings from Singapore till 30 March 2022. Definitely provides a peace of mind for the cruisers.

Booking of Genting World Dream Cruise To Nowhere Balcony Stateroom

Genting World Dream Cruises Balcony Stateroom

As the old adage goes, the earlier you book, the cheaper your cruise will be. This was true for our trip. We booked our balcony stateroom for $509 per pax for a 4D3N Cruise to Nowhere. There is an additional $63 for gratuity per person as well. We were only able to confirm our trip about 1 month out. Prior to that, we noticed that our particular departure went for as low as $399 (or about $100 cheaper).

For Dream Cruises, you will not be able to choose your stateroom and will automatically be allocated a room. To change to another preferred you, you can email Dream Cruises directly ([email protected]) after you have made your booking. We were then able to change our room to deck 13 to be as close to the facilities at deck 15-19! (By the way, there’s no Deck 14 on World Dream #fyi)

Lastly, online check-in is available up to 90 days prior to departure. As we booked about 30 days out, we thought we were able to check-in immediately. However, we were not able to do so. A few days later, it was available – probably due to the time needed to update our bookings into the system.

Booking of Genting World Dream Cruise To Nowhere Classic Beverage Package

Genting Dream Cruises Classic Beverage Package Review

There are a few beverage packages available for booking:

Beverage Package – Premium ($241 for 4D3N Cruise / $187 for 3D2N Cruise) Unlimited selected spirits, cocktails, mocktails, selected beers, house wines, coffees, teas, chilled juices, soft drinks and bottled water

Beverage Package – Classic ($142 for 4D3N Cruise / $97 for 3D2N Cruise) Unlimited selected beers, house wines, coffees, teas, chilled juices, soft drinks and bottled water

Beverage Package – Refresh ($88 for 4D3N Cruise / $61 for 3D2N Cruise) Unlimited coffees, teas, chilled juices, soft drinks and bottled water

We found out that the prices online is cheaper than what you will be able to purchase when you’re onboard. However, the catch is that you will have to join DreamElite to enjoy the cheaper rate. To join, just head to this website . Registration is pretty quick but do remember to jot down your DreamElite membership number. It will be required when you book your beverage package via email (https://booking.dreamcruiseline.com/loyalty/Web/Member/en/index.aspx) or by phone (+65-6223-3311 9am to 6pm Mondays to Sundays) You can find out more details of the drinks packages here .

During our trip, we had about 35 drinks each. That worked out to $4 per drink. That isn’t too bad considering that we were able to enjoy draft Heineken beers during meal times as well as red wines, white wines, sparkling wines, coffees and premium water…

Dream Cruise Classic Beverage Package Review - Sparkling Wine

Lastly, do note that when you receive your room card during check-in at the terminal, the beverage package would not be printed on it. But if you have booked online, it will be recorded in the system. When you get your very first drink from the bar or cafe, the staff will place a yellow sticker on your card. As we were on the Classic Beverage Package, a sticker “P2” (or package 2) was placed on our room card…

Booking of Shows and Facilities Onboard Genting World Dream

The details of the booking of shows and onboard facilities was slightly complicated and we were not able to find much details before we left. Hopefully, this segment helps in your preparations as well…

Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi

Jacuzzi at Zouk Beach Club

To book swimming pool and jacuzzi slots, you will have to head over to Deck 16 to make the bookings yourself in person once you get onboard . However, the thing is, you can only book one 1-hour slot per day. This means that if we make a booking for tomorrow, we cannot book another slot today and have to wait till 8am the next morning to do our next booking.

Booking of Swimming Pool and Jacuzzi Slots at Deck 16 of World Dream Cruise

Also, we made a rookie mistake when we booked our slot. Instead of booking for a jacuzzi slot, we booked a swimming pool slot. Big mistake. Initially, we wanted to also book a night jacuzzi slot so as to enjoy the cool weather while soaking in a nice warm jacuzzi tub. However, when we returned the next morning, all night jacuzzi slots were fully booked! Thankfully, there were still morning slots available and we were able to book the earliest slot at the Jacuzzi of Zouk Beach Club. 2 more tips on booking :

1. If you prefer a more private area for your hot tub (with sea views), book the Jacuzzi at Zouk Beach Club . There’s a private shower right next to the jacuzzi and we’re starting to think that the morning slot turned out to be a great choice as well. At night, while it’s cool, there’s limited views of the sea. For sheltered jacuzzis, there are only 2 (out of 4) around the swimming pool . The ones at Zouk are not sheltered. Nonetheless, if we had to choose again, we’d go for the same time slot at the same location.

2. For the swimming pool, we realise that we didn’t really have to book. It was not full most of the time and we were able to enter the pool right on the spot without a booking . If you intend to stay more than the one-hour that you booked, depending on how crowded the pool is, you may be able to do so. All you have to do is approach the same counter above and re-tap your room card again.

Water Slides on Genting World Dream – First-come-first-served Basis

World Dream Cruise to Nowhere - Swimming Pool at Deck 16

The water slides on Genting World Dream works on the first-come-first-served basis . This means that no bookings are required. All you have to do is to enter via the water slides stairs (right next to VR ESC Experience Lab). There will be slots for you to deposit your top, slippers and masks. Thereafter, walk up the next flight of stairs to choose from the 5 slides available. Personally, we enjoyed the blue slide with the blue bowl in the middle. You’ll hang around a little before you manoeuvre yourself back into the slide for the final descent. For thrill seekers, you can choose from one of the 2 slides with a huge drop at the start. Of course, if you have tried the Leap of Faith from Atlantis Dubai , it will be easy peasy.

Booking of Activities at Deck 18 (Sports Activity Centre) – Rope Course / Rock Climbing / Mini Golf / Table Tennis / Basketball

The details about booking of activities at Deck 18 were also not readily available during our research. At Deck 18’s Sports Activity Centre, you’ll be able to do the following activities:

Rope Course - Genting World Dream Cruise to Nowhere

We found out that bookings can only be made for table tennis, mini-golf and basketball (Deck 19) . The most popular activities Rope Course and Rock Climbing, are on a first-come-first-served basis . Oddly enough, the activities that require bookings, usually have no queue and we were able to play them we were arrive at the activities centre.

Sports Activity Centre Deck 18 of World Dream Cruise to Nowhere

We actually tried to queue for the Rope Course 4 times before we eventually were able to try it. This is because it rained (albeit lightly) during our first 3 visits and the staff said that 2 hours were required before the course became dry and safe enough for use. As we usually take breakfast at 7am (once the dining venues open), the tip here is to head over and queue at 845am when the sports activity centre opens at 9am . In this way, we were able to start the Rope Course at about 9:30. Not too long a wait. The Rope Course is SUPER fun! We’ll talk more about it in our subsequent posts!

Booking of Shows on World Dream Cruise to Nowhere

Booking of shows is only available via the Dream Cruises Application . However, you can only use the application onboard the ship after you are connected to the ship’s Wi-Fi. Otherwise, you’d be only staring at this page…

Home page of Dream Cruises App if onboard Wi-Fi is not available

Once onboard, click on entertainment icon and the show that you want to watch as well as the preferred timing…

Home Page of Dream Cruises App (You can check your accounts or daily programmes here)

Once we were onboard, we did not manage to book the desired timings for our shows that evening. This is because, to be fair to guests who are still boarding, the show times are only released every hour, starting at 2pm . Hence, when we boarded at about 2:30pm, we were not able to book both shows on the same evening. It was until 6pm (slots are released every hour on the hour), that we managed to book both shows on our first night. Yes, we tried booking every hour till 6pm. 😅

Booking of Gym Slots at Crystal Life Spa (Deck 15 Fwd)

Crystal Life Spa to book Gym slots on Genting World Dream Cruises (Deck 15 Fwd)

To book a gym session, you have to head personally to Deck 15’s Crystal Life Spa . Just as with the swimming pool and jacuzzi bookings, you’ll receive a reservation ticket. Present the reservation ticket to utilise the gym. Remember to arrive slightly before your scheduled time. The equipment are cleaned after each session so no worries about the spread of COVID – it’s safe.

Booking of VR Games at ESC Experience Lab (Deck 17 Aft)

Virtual Motion Simulator at ESC Experience Lab World Dream Cruise to Nowhere

There is no booking required for VR experiences at ESC Experience Lab. Some of the more expensive games such as the VR Maze and VR Motion Simulator, go for $15 per game. Hence, look out for deals in Dream Daily for 2 games for $22 deals that happen twice a day .

Booking of Specialty Dining Restaurants on Dream Cruises

Hot Pot onboard World Dream Cruise to Nowhere

To make bookings for specialty dining, you can either head to the DreamElite website or you purchase “Pay as you go with extra food and beverage credit” onboard:

Buy $50 and get $55 Buy $100 and get $120 Buy $150 and get $180 Buy $200 and get $250

We went with the booking online as we didn’t want to miss our preferred timeslot. But we also could have bought the credits when we went onboard. This is something that you can consider as well. Book online for the preferred timeslot and buy the credits (for some savings) when you board the ship.

Complimentary Dining Options on World Dream Cruise to Nowhere – Dream Dining Room (Upper and Lower) / The Lido (Buffet)

There are three complimentary dining venues (and one 24 hours snack venue) onboard Genting World Dream…

Dream Dining Room (Lower) – Western Cuisine

Breakfast at Dream Dining Room (Lower) for Western Breakfast

Dream Dining Room (Lower) is located at aft of level 7 . This is where the Western cuisines are served. For the meals that we have here, we’d always order all the options available. Meaning, if there were 2 options for appetizers and 3 options for mains, we’d usually ask for all the options so as to compare the standards.

Dream Dining Room (Upper) – Asian Cuisine

Dream Dining (Upper) - Chinese Meals on World Dream Cruise to Nowhere

Dream Dining Room (Upper) is located at aft of level 8 , right above Dream Dining Room (Lower). This is where the Asian cuisine is served. Once seated, you’ll be served all the available dishes for the meal. No selection required. If you enjoy a certain dish, you can ask for refills.

The Lido – International Buffet

The Lido (Deck 16 Aft) - World Dream Cruises Buffet Venue

The Lido (Deck 16 aft) is where you’ll be able to enjoy a buffet spread onboard the ship. The idea of having a buffet has been doused by the ongoing pandemic. So it’s actually quite nice to know that you can still enjoy a buffet onboard a cruise to nowhere. Here, you’ll be able to enjoy Asian, Western and local cuisines. For instance, for breakfasts, don’t miss out the Nasi Lemak! 😋

24 Hours Snack Venue

24 Hours Snack Venue Outside the Lido on Genting World Dream

There is also a complimentary 24 hours snack venue right outside the Lido . Here, you’ll be able to have finger food such as onion rings, buns, cakes and chicken wings/drumlets between meals. For supper (after 10pm), the menu becomes slightly heavier to include vermicelli as well.

Other Points To Note While Dining at Complimentary Venues:

1. The thing about Dream Cruises is that once you choose to dine at Dream Dining (Lower), you cannot head to level 8 (Dream Dining Upper) or the Lido, to dine again for a second meal during the same meal time. Hence, you should check out the menu available on Dream Daily via the Dream Cruise App .

2. All three restaurants (and Tributes) serve draft Heineken beer . If you’re on the Classic Beverage Package, it would be a perfect compliment to your meals 😋

3. There is usually a long queue during peak hours. Hence, we always arrive 15 minutes before the opening of the venue . In this way, we’ll always save time for queuing. The alternative would be 1.5 hours after the venue opens. However, you may risk not having a seat at Dream Dining and have to settle for the Lido instead.

In summary, we think the steps after booking your room are:

Step 0 : If you’re reserving a specialty dining, do so before the cruise to get your preferred time slot. Step 1 : Head to Deck 16 to book your Jacuzzi slots (book subsequent slots at 8am each day) Step 2 : Head to Deck 15 to book your Gym slots Step 3 : Keep trying Dream Cruises App hourly (on the hour) till you get your preferred slots for the day Step 4 : Get the F&B credits to offset your specialty dining room, if you had made a booking for step 0. Step 5 : Enjoy the rest of your first-come-first-served activities!

We hope you have enjoyed our coverage of the preparations and things you need to know before your embark on your next Cruise to Nowhere onboard World Dream by Dream Cruises! Do use the comments section below if you have any queries and we’ll try to provide some answers as well!

(Genting Dream Cruise) 14 Reasons You Should Board This Cruise Ship

Genting Dream Cruise

Have you been on the Genting Dream cruise? If you have not, here is a brief introduction to the brand new elevated experience, where you can enjoy sailing on the  19 floors cruise ship!

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Deck)

Genting Dream is one of the 3 cruise tours offered in the Dream Cruises line by Resorts World Cruises of Genting Group. The others are *World Dream and Explorer Dream. This cruise ship with the concept of  “A Resort Cruising at Sea'',  measures  335m in length and 40m in width.  With up to  18 decks  and lots of food and fun activities, you can indulge in all the amenities and comfort while at sea!

*Update: World Dream ceased operation on 2 March 2022 and Explorer Dream was renamed Resorts World One

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (interior)

However, some of the entertainment and services here are not included in the all-inclusive offerings and require extra charges. So make sure to fatten up your wallet before coming. Without further ado, let’s dive into the  14 reasons you should board the Genting Dream.

Super Huge

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Port Klang Jetty)

The Genting Dream cruise ship can accommodate up to  3,352 passengers (lower berth) with 1,674 staterooms.  During the day, adrenaline junkies can work out on the decks while kids can play at the playground. At 🌛night, guests can watch performances or up their game by betting on bingo games.

Comfy Rooms

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Room)

Surprisingly, the smallest rooms on the Genting Dream are  not as small as many of us would expect  (imagine Jack’s room on the Titanic) from a cruise ship. They are comfortable enough for you to move around and stretch out and  can accommodate up to 4 guests at a time.  Plus, each room on the cruise comes with a  private toilet and shower!

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Bathroom)

There are also  light refreshments  in the form of sachets like ☕coffee and 🍵tea, just in case you are too lazy to go out for a drink.  2 bottles of mineral water  are also provided and will be replenished each day for free (we just love the word “free” don’t we?)

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Beds)

On top of that, the  pillows and blankets  will give you a hard time 😴waking up. They are  very comfy,  and if you have stayed in any of the Genting Group hotels before, you’ll know. The same pillows and beddings are also used in the Genting Dream.

Cashless Everywhere!

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (ID Tag)

Some of the services, activities and facilities on the Genting Dream are not included in your cruise fee, and you'll have to pay on the cruise ship itself. One good thing is that you can  pay without  💵 cash!  All you need is a card, and you can have access to all facilities on the Genting Dream! This card is printed with your name and acts as your ID card.

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Helpful Staff)

You’ll have to carry it with you all the time (except when in your room) so that you can  tap to access the services, activities and facilities on the cruise ship.  You can keep track of how much you’ve spent on the 📺small tv in the room and then pay with your credit/debit card by scanning the QR code provided. Alternatively, you can make your payment at the reception on the 6th floor, but it is pretty obvious which is more convenient.

Halal Certified Food

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Breakfast Buffet)

Genting Dream is the first in the world to be  OIC/SMIIC standard  🧕 halal-friendly certified cruise.  The Lido provides an  extensive range of international cuisines,  and all of them are halal. You can enjoy everything served here as much as you want in a single meal period, for free! This buffet spread also  has a vegetarian section  for all the plant eaters to enjoy.

Never-Ending Eating

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Uma Uma)

One thing about eating all these  free meals on Genting Dream  is that you can only eat at 1 restaurant per meal period. So let’s say you ate at The Lido for lunch, you can’t eat at another free-to-eat restaurant for lunch (unless you pay, of course). You’ll have to wait until it’s dinner time for that.

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Lido Outdoor Snack Corner)

If you get hungry in between the main meals but don’t want to pay to eat at the specialty restaurants, the  Lido Outdoor Snack Corner  is such a lifesaver! It is a  24-hour free-flow station with snacks  like samosa, 🍟french fries, sausage and fried bee hoon! There are even drinks like 🍵tea, ☕coffee and 🧃juices, in case you want to sip on something other than the mineral water in your room.

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (DDR Chinese Food)

Of course, not to forget the  non-halal restaurants  for all the  haram eaters  non-muslims. Free-to-eat meals can be found at the  Dream Dining.  The Dream Dining Room(upper) is dedicated to serving Chinese set meals, whereas the Dream Dining (lower) serves semi-buffet western meals.

Pro-Tip:  Come and queue early to get the sea view table! It is open 10 mins earlier than the allocated time.

Moving Casino on The Sea

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Casino)

Genting Dream is literally a moving 🎲casino on the sea! If you are a  kaki judi,  you are welcome to  test your fortune  with some games of bingo, pull some 🎰slot machines or play some 🀄mahjong. As you are not spending any 💸physical money,  make sure to spend your money wisely and don’t get too greedy!

Family-Friendly Pool & Water Slides

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Pool)

On a hot 🌞sunny day, you can swim in the pool to cool off. There are  shallow pool areas where  👧👦 kids can have a fun time  💦splashing at each other too! For the 👱‍♂️👱‍♀️young uns who prefer something more extreme than mere swimming and dipping in the pool, you guys can try out the  water slides.  There are  6 water slides  with different levels of extremity on the cruise depending on how  adventurous  you are.

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Water Slide)

On the other hand, the 🧓 elderly can relax in the jacuzzi  while watching the young people playing at the pool. Are these free? Yes! On Genting Dream, there are 4 jacuzzis around the main pool on Deck 16 MID and 2 jacuzzis at Zouk Beach Club on Deck 17 AFT.

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Jacuzzi)

However, just like any other outdoor activities on the Genting Dream, the  pool and water slides are subject to  ☔ weather changes.  So if you are unable to enjoy these activities, read on to find out what other things you can do on this cruise.

Happy Kids Happy Parents

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Playground)

Besides the shallow pool area, kids can also spend time bouncing here and there at the bouncy playground on Genting Dream.  Kids the age of 2 to 12 can get themselves busy at the Little Dreamers Club.  There are lots of toys for 🧒kids to play with while parents can enjoy the beautiful sea view. This place is free but only for the first 2 hours. Are your kids able to resist the temptation of staying within 2 hours?

Keep-Fit Journey Sailing Smooth

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Jogging Track)

There are  lots of activities here to help you keep   💪fit and healthy  while on the Genting Dream cruise. You can pay for professional fitness classes like pilates, HIIT (step), suspension training, etc or get active for free with activities like jogging (there is a jogging track around the cruise), ⛳mini golf, 🧗‍♀️rock climbing (wall) and many more. Again, like any other  outdoor activities, some of them are subject to weather changes.

Pro-Tip:  Make sure to check the itinerary to see what programs are available for the day.

Endless Activities Throughout The Day

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Arcade)

If you are not a very active person and would like to join some less strenuous activities on the cruise, there is an  arcade  as well as  Nintendo Switch games, workshops, family show time  and more. Remember to check the itinerary for the time slot of your desired activities and register in advance.

Spend a Few Hours on The Land

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Genting Dream Cruise Ship)

Come on! You are not Davy Jones! Of course, you can  enjoy beautiful sights and eat good food outside of the sea.  It all depends on which tour you book. The cruise ship will  dock at the designated jetty,  and off you go! You are  free to explore the towns,  as long as you return within the given ⌚time. If not, we’re afraid that you’ll have to say 👋bye-bye to the Genting Dream.

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Queen Victoria Memorial Clock Tower)

If you plan to explore a town that is not in the country you came from, you’ll have to  bring along your passport  and go through the 🛃custom security check before you can leave the 🚢cruise.

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Zouk Beach Club Foam Party)

At night, you can head to the  Zouk Beach Club  and enjoy the iconic Zouk’s Foam Party! You can 🕺 dance crazily to the funky music in a pool of foam.  There will also be ice cream and drinks for everyone to enjoy. Make sure to register in advance.

The Night is Still Early

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Performance/Show)

Why sleep when there are so many activities that can keep you awake on the cruise? Besides the Zouk Beach Club, there are also 💃dance lessons, 🎤karaoke, 🎳ten-pin bowling, live shows and many more. If you want to just sit around and relax, there is an outdoor cinema on deck 17 AFT, and it’s free!

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Bar)

If you want to up the game to make it more haram, you can head to one of the m any bars and lounges  and order your favourite 🍹cocktail or 🍺beer. Not only that, if you are someone who has an alcohol reservoir in the stomach, you might want to consider taking one of the  bottomless beverage packages.

Shop Til You Drop

What you can do on Genting Dream Cruise? (Snack Shopping)

There are  many shops on Genting Dream  offering high-end fashion and quality food & supplements from overseas.  Look out for discounts on goods on your itinerary.  You’ll not want to miss out on the good deals and value buys.

The cruise is so huge that  you won’t feel much  🤢 turbulence.  In fact, many people reportedly felt no difference with being on land. Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

genting dream cruise gym

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

genting dream cruise gym

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

genting dream cruise gym

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

genting dream cruise gym

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

genting dream cruise gym

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

genting dream cruise gym

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

genting dream cruise gym

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

Description

Highlights:.

  • Experience medieval Kitay Gorod (China town).
  • Wander picturesque Red Square and Alexander Garden.
  • Explore grand Christ the Savior Cathedral on our Red Square tour.
  • Breathtaking panoramic views from Patriarch bridge.
  • Enjoy a hearty lunch on the large open verandah and marvel at the stunning views of the Kremlin.
  • Learn about Russian culture from the local through relaxed cultural discussions.

Tour Itinerary:

Red square:.

Russia and Moscow are synonymous with Red Square and the Kremlin and that's hardly surprising as you'll find these places absolutely stunning!

  • - Walk-through the Resurrection Gate and don’t forget to flip a coin so you’ll be sure to come back one day!
  • - Visit the world's famous Kazan Cathedral .
  • - See the State Department Store (GUM), once the Upper Trading Stalls, which were built over a century ago and still operating!
  • - Admire the lovely St. Basil's Cathedral! The French diplomat Marquis de Custine commented that it combined "the scales of a golden fish, the enamelled skin of a serpent, the changeful hues of the lizard, the glossy rose and azure of the pigeon's neck" and wondered at "the men who go to worship God in this box of confectionery work".
  • - Walk by Lobnoye Mesto (literally meaning "Execution Place", or "Place of Skulls"), once Ivan the Terrible's stage for religious ceremonies, speeches, and important events.
  • - Entering the Alexander Garden , you’ll take in spectacular views of Russian architecture from ancient to Soviet times, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier with an eternal flame. Watch Changing of the Guard Ceremony every hour in summer and every half an hour in winter.

Kitai-gorod:

Stroll along medieval Kitai-gorod with its strong ancient Russia feel, known for its bohemian lifestyle, markets and arts.

  • - Nikolskaya Street. Here you will find the Russia's first publishing house, the second oldest monastery, and Ferryn Pharmacy, known as the number one pharmacy back in Soviet times and famous for its Empire-style architecture.
  • - Ilinka Street. The financial street of the Kitaigorod (China Town) district, where you’ll find the Gostiny Dvor (Merchant’s Yard), which is now a showroom for Ferraris and Maseratis. The street was designed in the 1790s by Catherine the Great.
  • - Varvarka street. The oldest street in Moscow, which dates back to the 14th century, and still has remnants of early Muscovite architecture, such as the Old English Court and the Palace of the Romanov’s.
  • - Kamergersky Lane. Only a small road of about 250 meters, it is home to some of the oldest artifacts of the city, as each building holds a fascinating story. Some of Russia's most famous writers, poets, and composers from as far back as the Golden Age of Russian culture, have lived or worked on this lane.

Historic City Center

Walk the historical old center of Moscow with its cool local vibe, including the main Tverskaya street , and indulge in desserts in the first grocery “Eliseev's store” , housed in an 18th century neoclassical building, famous for its baroque interior and decoration.

From our tour. Impressions of our American tourist:

At 3:30, as energy flagged, lunch was on the agenda at a Ukrainian restaurant.  Just in time!  We asked our guide to order for us.  We all had the same thing....borscht (the Ukrainian version has beans and more tomatoes than the Russian version, which has more beets and includes beef).

The special high bread served is called galushki.  Our main course was golubtsy...a dish of minced meat rolled in braised cabbage leaves.  Both dishes called for optional sour cream as a topping....of course, yes, please....I recommend it.

Full, satisfied, and completely refreshed, it was off to Red Square and St. Basil's and GUM department store.  Red Square is not so named because of the color of the brick walls of the Kremlin.  Rather the word for 'red' and the word for 'beautiful' are similar in pronunciation....and, there you have it.

As we made the turn by the National Museum in front of which is the mounted sculpture of the "Marshall of Victory," Giorgy Zhukov from WWII and caught our first view of St. Basil's, my friend and I simultaneously emitted "Oooohhhhh!"  There it was....the iconic onion domes of St. Basil's!  Hooray....it was open until 7....we had about 30 minutes and were allowed in, AND we could take photos with no flash.

Now, I can give you a taste of what we saw in the other cathedrals in Cathedral Square.  What we learned is that St. Vasily and St. Basil are one in the same....Russian/English.  He was a common man who wandered Moscow unclothed and barefoot.  But, all, even Ivan the Terrible, heeded his opinions derived from his visions.  Ivan had this cathedral built over his tomb.

As we exited and took photos up close of the onion domes, Inna presented us with chocolate (how did she know we were ready for another energy boost, and we each got a big piece of chocolate.  The baby's name pictured on the wrapper of this famous Russian chocolate is Alyonka....the Russian Gerber baby, don't you think?

One could wear out the credit card in GUM's (capitalized because it is actually a government abbreviation), but the 'kitty' and my credit card stayed in my pocket as we strolled through the glass-topped arcade.

We then strolled through some of Moscow's lovely pedestrian streets; paused to listen as a wonderful quartet performed Vivaldi's "Four Seasons" in an underground passage to cross the busy street (hooray!....we DID have our 'classical concert' experience after all; a request Alina tried in vain to fill because none was scheduled those days), saw the Bolshoi, which means 'big' (my friend has yet to recover that their performance schedule did not coincide with our cruise), saw the Central Telegraph Building, dating from the 1930's, and made our way to the Ritz-Carlton to see the night view of Moscow from the rooftop bar, called O2.

There were fleece blankets to wrap yourself in....yes, it got that cold when the sun set.  We each ordered something hot to drink...the ginger, mint, lemon tea served to me in a parfait glass (for 600 rubles...about $9....you pay for the view here!) was delightful and hit the spot perfectly.  It was time to call it a night....
