Jeremy – who looked a little bit tired – revealed that it would be released in “a very long time”.

However, he then said that it would be out on the streaming platform in about six months.

The Grand Tour: Eurocrash — release date, first look, premise and everything we know

The Grand Tour: Eurocrash is the latest Prime Video motoring special.

The Grand Tour: Eurocrash stars James May, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond posing next to cars

The Grand Tour: Eurocrash is the latest motoring special from James May, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond, which will see them touring Central Europe.

The ex- Top Gear trio will take on a 1400-mile journey in the Prime Video special, where they'll see some Soviet-style Formula 1 and recruit a famous racing driver, as well as being attacked by deadly archers and taking part in a spectacular climax, so there's plenty to look forward to!

Specific details are under wraps, but we do have a small amount of information about the newest Grand Tour special, which was filmed in Poland and Slovenia.

According to  The Sun , a TV insider has claimed fans will be impressed by their latest outing, and said: "This will be a special like no other — and fans are going to lap it up. Nobody thought Central Europe would be an option for a road trip."

The insider added: "But the lads have well and truly proven it’s a great destination for petrolheads."

Here's everything we know about The Grand Tour: Eurocrash so far...

The Grand Tour: Eurocrash release date

The new special will arrive on Prime Video on Friday, June 16, and will be available worldwide.

We don't know how long the runtime is yet, but previous The Grand Tour specials have been around 90 minutes, so we're expecting another feature-length one.

The Grand Tour: Eurocrash premise

James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson next to a car

According to Amazon, the premise is: "Jeremy, Richard, and James head to Central Europe on a road trip nobody has ever thought of, in cars nobody would ever dream of."

It adds: "This epic 1400-mile journey takes them from Gdańsk in Poland, through Slovakia, Hungary, and Slovenia. They sample some Soviet-style Formula 1, are attacked by deadly archers, recruit a famous racing driver and take part in a spectacular Fast and Furious climax."

The special follows their most recent release, A Scandi Flick, and Amazon says it will launch ahead of their next adventure which has recently finished filming in Mauritania, although we don't have any details about this one yet.

Is there a trailer?

Prime Video has not released a trailer for the new special yet, but we'll let you know if that changes.

Jeremy Clarkson Reveals Release Date As Grand Tour Filming Comes To An End

The Grand Tour has been filming in Central Europe for two long weeks now after starting their journey in Gdansk, Poland . Since then they’ve traveled over 2,000km through Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and now Slovenia.

In a recent interview with Radio 1 Slovenia, Jeremy Clarkson talked more about the episode, where they traveled to, and the release date of the episode. This comes after they recorded another episode around Norway and the Arctic Circle earlier this year .

Beginning the interview, Clarkson was asked what his first thoughts were of the country.

“Well, we came in through the mountains from Hungary, so it’s just straight away very pretty. And then it stays very pretty to here. So it’s just very pretty,” he says.

He then revealed that filming was coming to an end in Slovenia :

“Well, this is, it is actually the finish point for a long – about a 2,200 kilometer drive from Gdansk at the top of Poland. All the way down to Krakow, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and then here.”

There was then a mix up thanks to the language barrier, but Jeremy eventually admitted that it would be six months until we see this European special come to Prime Video:

“A very long time. Is it six months, perhaps? ? Six months,” he confirms.

In a strange turn, both Clarkson and Richard Hammond were then asked about the car manufacturer Dacia. “You mean the cars?” Clarkson asks as Hammond corrects the interviewer’s pronunciation.

“Because you’re a specialist for cars,” the interviewer adds. “Used to be,” Clarkson responds. “A long, long time ago we ran a car programme. It’s changed since then. “My colleague James May is around somewhere, he’s an expert on Dacia. “He likes the Dacia.”

He tells the Radio 1 interviewer that he prefers Maseratis but drives a Range Rover, “a Lincoln Continental Mk8, and an Alfa Romeo GTV6, a Mercedes 600 Grosser, Bentley Flying Spur, another Range Rover, a Land Rover Discovery with a Mercedes SL body on it, and a Mini.”

The interviewer then asks what colour his car is, and Jeremy very quickly lost interest in the interview.

Welcome day

Chopin’s music, the quintessence of Polish romanticism

Morning: Independent arrivals to Warsaw hotel.

Afternoon & Evening: Approximately at 4pm meet and greet with your tour leader and the other travelers at the hotel lobby. Following a short introduction, you will have a walk to the Old Town. Painstakingly rebuilt from scratch after WW II; it enjoys its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

On the way visit the Church of the Holy Cross . There, inside an urn lies Chopin’s heart , brought home in 1849 by his sister. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”, reads the biblical passage inscribed on a pillar.

Welcome evening with Chopin’s music . Enter the world of Chopin’s brilliant creations, which have earned for him his title of a Poet Of The Piano. Warsaw is where Chopin developed his talent for almost twenty years. Then, taste culinary goodies during welcome dinner.

Visit the capital of Poland

Warsaw Old Town

Morning: Warsaw wears its epic history with pride. Many renowned film producers have made it their point of reference. A notable example of this is “The Pianist” by Roman Polanski , a WWII Holocaust drama about human resilience, and the beauty and power of music to overcome sheer adversity. It tells the true story of the eminent Polish-Jewish virtuoso concert pianist and composer Wladyslaw Szpilman , and his unlikely survival under German Nazi control in Warsaw. The film won three Academy Awards in 2003 .

A half-day guided city tour will cover the very best of fascinating Warsaw : the vibrant downtown, the historical Jewish Ghetto area, the elegant Royal Route and the Lazienki Park which never loses its appeal. The alleys of the city’s fabulous green heart and legacy of the King Stanisław August, will take you to some picturesque buildings, ponds, the enchanting Palace on the Island and the Statue of Chopin featuring the composer sat by the willow tree form, with his hand reaching for the piano keys.

Afternoon & Evening: The remainder of the day is free time to explore on your own. Your tour escort will be happy to offer suggestions.

Overnight in Warsaw.

Boat cruise & Teutonic knights

Malbork Castle

Morning: Shortly after an early breakfast, we board our bus and head northwards to the Baltic Sea. We will travel through the Warmia region, stopping in the charming Ilawa Lake District to behold a spectacular marvel of 19th-century German engineering: the Ostroda-Elblag Canal . This extraordinary canal system, seamlessly integrated with a narrow-gauge railway, is not only a feat of historic engineering but also one of Poland’s grandest attractions. Your boat cruise along this impressive waterway will allow you to immerse in the breathtaking convergence of natural beauty and technical prowess.

Afternoon: A tour of  Malbork castle a triumph of architecture and one of the biggest medieval castles in Europe. Between 1309-1459, it was the seat of the mighty Order of Teutonic Knights. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with meticulously restored interiors such as the great halls, magnificent high towers and even a central heating system.

For dinner savour food with a story to tell. “The Small Dutchman”, housed in an old, restored arcaded Mennonite House in Zelichowo, serves the cuisine that has been inspired by the intertwining histories of Slavs, Prussians, Teutonic Knights and Mennonites.

Evening: Drive to  Gdansk . Check in to a comfortable hotel.

Gdansk city tour

Neptune fountain in Gdansk

Morning: Gdansk changed the world twice in the 20 th c.  The city of freedom and the capital of amber as it is nicknamed, Gdansk is bursting with color. This millennium-old city on Poland’s Baltic Coast, one of the pearls of the Hanzeatic League, is renowned for its rich cultural diversity, iconic harborfronts and the Shipyard that shook the world.  A roller coaster of emotions. From the first shots of the World War II in Europe, to Soladiryty, the symbol of a European peace revolution.

On the way to Oliwa , a photo stop by the famous Gdansk (formerly Lenin) Shipyard, the birthplace of the Solidarity movement led by Lech Walesa. Then you will enjoy the grandeur of the organ in the beautiful 13th-century cathedral. Our tour ends in the Old Town of Gdansk , full of maritime atmosphere and packed with unique Hanzeatic-style architecture. During the sightseeing, you will see the St. Mary’s Basilica (the largest Gothic church in Poland), the Neptune Fountain and the Artus Court.

Afterwards, you will have a chance to learn how to  prepare delicious  pierogi ,  Polish national dish. A cooking class will be combined with lunch.

Afternoon:& Evening: Free time. Your tour escort will be happy to offer suggestions.

Europe’s longest wooden pier & Torun – the city of Copernicus

Copernicus in Torun

Afternoon: Lunch break followed by a tour of  Torun Old Town,  a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This delightful historical city is rich in original Gothic structures that survived numerous wars and invasions, including a magnificent town hall, medieval fortification walls, the Polish “leaning tower of Pisa”, as well as the superb St. James’ church. The town has always been famous for its  gingerbread.  Taste it in different shapes and sizes! The town may for many be the surprise hit of the entire trip. Based on what our previous clients have said, it never fails to leave a lasting impression.

Evening: Free time. Overnight stay in Torun.

Wroclaw city tour

Wroclaw

Morning: We will travel to Wroclaw , the historic capital of Lower Silesia, which celebrated its Millennium in the year 2000. Renowned for its remarkable Gothic architecture, and scenic canals, Wroclaw is often referred to as the “Venice of the North”.

Afternoon We will have a guided walk through the Old Town of Wroclaw and the Ostrow Tumski , a treat for lovers of Gothic architecture. The city’s  iconic attraction is a legion of  dwarfs dotting doorways, alleyways and street corners; constantly underfoot but only seen by the observant.

The Church of Peace & one-of-a-kind world-class glass art

Glass art in Tomaszow Boleslawiecki

Morning: This day will immerse you in local communities, offering opportunities for discovery, learning, and inspiration .

In Tomaszów Bolesławiecki , you will celebrate the myriad talents of Polish artists – the Borowski Family. They masterfully craft glass into fabulous indoor and outdoor objects . Their unique style, passion for color, and superb design have gained international acclaim. Stanislaw Borowski, a prominent figure in the European studio glass movement of the late 1970s, founded the company and has passed this artistic legacy to his three sons. You will gain insights into each step of the glass-crafting process and will see glass artists at work . Subsequently, you will explore the UNESCO-listed Church of Peace in Jawor.

Afternoon: For lunch, savor flavorful, healthy, locally sourced cuisine at the Villa Greta guesthouse. The enchanting village of Dobków , where it is situated, was honored with the European Award for Rural Development and Village Renewal in 2017. Here, life moves at a leisurely pace, allowing you to truly unwind. Adding to its allure, Dobków lies in the heart of Poland’s astonishing, lesser-known Land of the Dormant Volcanoes.

Evening: Free time. Overnight stay in Wroclaw.

Auschwitz-Birkenau & Zakopane

Auschwitz museum

Morning: Today’s journey leads us towards a profoundly different kind of experience. In eastern Silesia, on the outskirts of Oswiecim, stand two somber reminders of the former German Nazi death camps: Auschwitz I (now a museum) and II Birkenau . These sites, now part of the Holocaust Memorial, are preserved so that humanity never forgets one of the darkest chapters in its history. Our visit will provide a solemn reflection on these events.

Afternoon: After a respectful pause and lunch, we continue south to Zakopane , the premier Polish mountain resort nestled at the base of the majestic Carpathian Mountains .

Evening: In Zakopane, we transition to a different aspect of Polish culture with a horse carriage ride to one of the best local restaurants. Here, you will enjoy a lively highlander show featuring live music and dance , offering a glimpse into the folk customs still thriving in this region. You’ll also get to taste local cuisine and the robust ‘highlander tea’. The day concludes with an overnight stay at a Zakopane hotel.

Morning: We explore the exquisite local wooden architecture in Zakopane before hopping onto the funicular railway to Mt. Gubalowka , one of the most beautiful peaks in the Tatra Mountains, to take in the breathtaking scenery. The tour would be incomplete without visiting one of the most famous Polish cemeteries, “ Na Peksowym Brzyzku ,” where several notable figures in culture, science, and art are buried, along with a range of individuals who significantly contributed to Zakopane and the Tatra Mountains. The local tombstones and crosses are an amalgamation of folk traditions and art trends that dominated the 19th and 20th centuries.

Afternoon: After lunch, there will be time for some souvenir hunting along Krupowki Street in Zakopane. Next, we check out and depart from Zakopane.

How To Get Ed Sheeran Tickets In 2024

If Sheerios want to see Ed Sheeran live this year, they won’t have to travel all the way to the castle on the hill. The 33-year-old English singer kicked off his +–=÷× tour (also known as the Mathematics tour) in Dublin, Ireland all the way back in April 2022 and he’ll finally end its run in September 2024. There are three cities left for Sheeran to hit in the United States before he visits Europe and South America. Here’s everything we know about how to get Ed Sheeran tickets before the tour ends.

Ed Sheeran is hitting the road again for his "Mathematics" tour, and we've got the details on how to ... [+] get tickets.

Eight Sleep Pod 3 Review: I Tried It For Weeks And Am A Surprised Fan

The best workout shoes for men, according to trainers and gym buffs, where to buy tickets to the “+–=÷×” tour.

You might usually turn to Ticketmaster for concert tickets, but that’s not the best source for tickets to Sheeran’s shows. For one thing, his entire series of show dates isn’t offered on this platform, and some of his dates that are offered on TicketMaster are totally sold out. Here are your options:

  • Ticket reseller StubHub has seats for shows like the fast-approaching Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. There, prices start at a little over $200.
  • SeatGeek also has tickets to some U.S. shows, the cheapest going for just under $200.
  • Both StubHub and SeatGeek have tickets to many of Sheeran’s international concerts as well.
  • Many of Sheeran’s shows take place at music festivals that often sell tickets directly on their websites. There are often different options, such as a day pass or a 3-day VIP package. For example, the Boston Calling Musical Festival , where Sheeran will play on May 24, currently has eight ticket options still available, with prices ranging from $194 to nearly $3,000.
  • Meanwhile, the BottleRock Napa Valley festival only has single-day general admission tickets left, going for $233 apiece; the four other ticketing options are sold out.

When Do Ed Sheeran Tickets Go On Sale?

Tickets are on sale now and some of the shows—including July 12 in Poland, July 27 in the Czech Republic, and August 3 in Lithuania—have already sold out. Check out reseller sites like StubHub and SeetGeek to try to snag tickets to sold-out shows.

How Much Are Ed Sheeran Tickets?

Sheeran’s three American concerts start around $200 a ticket. For the international stops on his tour, ticket prices vary and use different currencies, based on location. For the Lucca Summer Festival in Italy, there are three different ticket options, ranging from €78 ($83) to €130 ($138). Other festivals have just one ticket option, such as Euro Fan Fest , which starts pricing at €69 ($73).

The cost can also vary depending on whether you buy a standing-only ticket or a seated one. For the Hipodrome show in Croatia , you can stand for €90 ($96) or sit starting at €100 ($106).

Some of Sheeran’s concert tickets are for sale in currencies besides the EUR or USD, including the Stavernfestivalen in Norway. Tickets on the Stavern festival’s website start at 190 NOK, which is the equivalent of about $17. Meanwhile, tickets to the Polsat Plus Arena in Poland cost 344 PLN, or $84. Prices for Sheeran’s Puskas Arena show in Hungary begin at 24,900 HUF, equating to $67.

Of course, currency rates change often, so make sure to check them before you buy your ticket to avoid any unwanted surprises. A good place to do that is using a Euros to Dollar converter or, for other European currency, a converter with rates for over 200 countries.

PM to announce largest-ever military aid package to Ukraine on visit to Poland

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak will announce the largest-ever military aid package to Ukraine on his visit to Poland.

grant tour poland

  • PM to travel to Poland and Germany to cement security, trade and diplomatic ties with key European allies
  • He is expected to announce a £500 million boost for Ukraine and largest-ever provision of vital munitions, including some 400 vehicles, 1,600 munitions and 4 million rounds of ammunition
  • PM to discuss the threat from Russia and UK efforts to support European security with Prime Minister Tusk and the Nato Secretary-General in Warsaw

The Prime Minister will travel to Poland today [Tuesday 23 April] to announce a massive uplift in military support for Ukraine, including £500 million in additional military funding and our largest-ever delivery of vital equipment.

He will meet Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk to discuss deepening UK-Poland relations, and the leaders will hold talks with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg in Warsaw on European security and support to Ukraine. The Prime Minister will then travel on to Germany to meet Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.

Ukraine is facing an existential threat as Russia continues its barbaric invasion, risking the security and stability of all of Europe.

The £500 million additional funding announced today - which takes us to £3 billion in UK military aid for Ukraine this financial year - will be used to rapidly deliver urgently-needed ammunition, air defence, drones and engineering support. The drones will be procured in the UK and the funds will support a scale-up in domestic defence supply chains.

The Ministry of Defence will also send our largest-ever single package of equipment from the UK, designed to help push back the Russian invasion on land, sea and air. It includes:

  • 60 boats including offshore raiding craft, rigid raiding craft and dive boats as well as maritime guns
  • More than 1,600 strike and air defence missiles, as well as additional Storm Shadow long-range precision-guided missiles.
  • More than 400 vehicles, including 160 protected mobility ‘Husky’ vehicles, 162 armoured vehicles and 78 all-terrain vehicles.
  • Nearly 4 million rounds of small arms ammunition.

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said:

“Defending Ukraine against Russia’s brutal ambitions is vital for our security and for all of Europe. If Putin is allowed to succeed in this war of aggression, he will not stop at the Polish border.

“I am in Warsaw today to deepen ties with our Polish partners and commit critical new military support for Ukraine’s defence.  Ukraine’s armed forces continue to fight bravely, but they need our support – and they need it now. Today’s package will help ensure Ukraine has what they need to take the fight to Russia.

“The United Kingdom will always play its part at the forefront of European security, defending our national interest and standing by our Nato allies.”

 Defence Secretary Grant Shapps said:

“This record package of military aid will give President Zelenskyy and his brave nation more of the kit they need to kick Putin out and restore peace and stability in Europe.

“The UK was the first to provide NLAW missiles, the first to give modern tanks and the first to send long-range missiles.

“Now, we are going even further. We will never let the world forget the existential battle Ukraine is fighting, and with our enduring support, they will win.”

In his first in-person meeting with new Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, the Prime Minister will also seek to deepen UK-Poland ties across a range of issues.

Building on existing strong defence and security cooperation, he will offer to deploy an RAF Typhoon Squadron to carry out Nato Air Policing over Poland next year.

To further boost trade and support UK companies looking to invest in Poland, the Prime Minister will also announce today an intention to triple UK Export Finance funding available for Poland from £5 billion to £15 billion – our most generous offer to a partner country to date.

Bilateral trade between the UK and Poland has doubled in the last decade to reach £30.6 billion, with 45 million bottles of Scotch whisky bought in Poland last year and UK firms bidding for £5 billion worth of Polish opportunities across energy, defence, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Pga tour lays out how the player equity program will work.

  • Rex Hoggard ,
  • Rex Hoggard

In February, PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan introduced the rough outline of the Player Equity Program, a vesting plan for the circuit’s new for-profit arm that will carve up a hefty portion of the initial $1.5 billion investment from Strategic Sports Group. On Wednesday, players were given a more detailed version of the program, PGA Tour chief competitions officer Tyler Dennis confirmed on “Golf Central.”

The initial player equity grants will be approximately $930 million distributed to 193 players via four categories, starting with the game’s stars. Monahan informed players on Wednesday via a letter of their individual grants.

“There’s no other sports league in the world that has this significant number of their athletes as owners of their own sports organization,” Dennis said.

“We want to grow the PGA Tour in many different ways and having the alignment of players as player-owners with the organization is going to allow us to drive that quickly forward.”

The first group includes 36 players receiving $750 million in equity based on the last five years of play. “Career Points” will be awarded based on how many years a player has been a Tour member, how many times they earned a spot in the Tour Championship and how many times they have won, with extra points awarded for high-profile victories like the majors, The Players Championship and the FedExCup.

Group 2’s share of the initial equity will be much smaller ($75 million) and will be granted to 64 players. The group is considered “steady performers and up-and-comers” and will be based on FedExCup points earned over the last three years.

Equity to Group 3 will be $30 million going to 57 players based on career earnings and how many times a player finished inside the top 125 in FedExCup points.

The final group will include “past legends,” like Jack Nicklaus and Tom Watson, with $75 million going to 36 players based on the “Career Points” formula. Those grants will only be awarded to “past legends” that are living.

Perhaps most important to players will be the program’s eight-year vesting period. The grants will be worth 50% of their value after four years, 75% after six and 100% after eight years, when a player will be able to sell their equity in PGA Tour Enterprises, the for-profit arm the Tour created for the program. At each vesting benchmark players will be responsible to pay taxes on the grants.

The program has been created to encourage loyalty to the Tour in the face of ongoing challenges from LIV Golf, and the requirements of maintaining membership (which includes a minimum of 15 starts each year) would mean players who join LIV Golf would not be eligible for the program or would give up any unvested equity if they were to join the rival circuit.

“We want the players to be fully aligned with their organization,” Dennis said. “It’s something no other sport has done before and we’re seeing an incredible amount of excitement about that.”

SSG valued the PGA Tour at $12.3 billion when the group, which is led by Fenway Sports, became a minority investor and the assumption is that valuation will continue to increase like most professional sports franchises in the United States.

The remainder of the initial $1.5 billion investment (roughly $600 million) will be awarded in recurring player grants of $100 million each year, beginning in 2025 through 2030. These grants will be awarded based on performance and Player Impact Program results with an eye toward young talent, like Ludvig Åberg or Nick Dunlap.

These Are the Cheapest International Cities to Experience Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in 2024

T aylor Swift's mega-popular Eras Tour is heading overseas this summer and searches for "Taylor Swift Europe tour 2024 tickets" have increased by 300 percent in the past 30 days, according to Google Trends data gathered by Islands.

With interest soaring, the travel planning website recently crunched the numbers , analyzing the average cheapest cost of concert tickets, hotel rooms, meals, drinks and transportation in addition to city safety scores to determine the cheapest places to see Swift live abroad.

Islands determined the total lowest average cost of attending the Eras Tour at each location by calculating the cost of one concert ticket, looking at the average ticket cost available per location, a two-night hotel stay, six inexpensive meals, one domestic beer, and two taxi rides within five miles of the venue. Warsaw, Poland —where Swift will perform August 1-3—is the cheapest destination to experience the Eras Tour in 2024 with an average cost of $712 before plane tickets. The city also receives an impressive safety index score of 72.98 out of 100.

Poland’s president becomes the latest leader to visit Donald Trump as allies eye a possible return

NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump met Wednesday in New York with Polish President Andrzej Duda , the latest in a series of meetings with foreign leaders as Europe braces for the possibility of a second Trump term.

The presumptive Republican nominee hosted Duda at Trump Tower, where the two discussed the war in Ukraine and Duda’s push to boost NATO members’ defense spending, according to a readout from Trump’s campaign. Duda, who has long expressed admiration for Trump, is also a staunch supporter of Ukraine and has encouraged Washington to provide more aid to Kyiv amid Russian’s ongoing invasion . That funding has been held up by Trump allies in Congress.

As he arrived, Trump praised the Polish president, saying, “He’s done a fantastic job and he’s my friend.”

“We had four great years together,” Trump added. “We’re behind Poland all the way.”

Following the almost 2 1/2 hour meeting, Duda said only that it was a “friendly meeting in very nice atmosphere.”

His aide, Wojciech Kolarski, also in attendance, described it as an “excellent meeting” of “two friends who reminisced on the time when for four years they cooperated while holding presidential offices,” a time that was “very fruitful for Polish-U.S. relations.”

Poland's President Andrej Duda speaks during a joint media conference with Lithuania's President Gitanas Nauseda during the Lithuanian-Polish Brave Griffin 24/II military exercise near the Suwalki Gap close to the Polish border at the Dirmiskes village, Alytus district west of the capital Vilnius in Lithuania on Friday, April 26, 2024. The week-long military exercise which started April 22, is to test a defense scenario on the bilateral so-called “Orsha” plan to defend the Suwałki Gap, a corridor of almost 100 kilometers (62 miles) between the two NATO members Poland and Lithuania. (AP Photo/Mindaugas Kulbis)

Duda is the latest foreign leader to meet with Trump in the weeks since he locked up the Republican nomination. U.S. allies across the world were caught off guard by Trump’s surprise 2016 win, forcing them to scramble to build relationships with a president who often attacked longstanding treaties and alliances they valued. Setting up meetings with him during the 2024 campaign suggests they don’t want to be behind again.

Even as he goes on trial for one of the four criminal indictments against him, Trump and Democratic President Joe Biden are locked in a rematch that most observers expect will be exceedingly close in November.

While some in Poland worried the visit might damage the country’s relationship with Biden, Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn. — a Biden ally and a major voice in his party on foreign affairs — said such meetings make sense.

“The polls are close,” he said. “If I were a foreign leader — and there’s a precedent attached to meeting with candidates who are nominated or on the path to being nominated — I’d probably do it too.”

Murphy noted that former President Barack Obama did a lengthy international tour and met with foreign leaders when he first ran for the White House. So did Mitt Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, who challenged Obama in 2012 and whose trip included a stop in Poland’s capital, Warsaw.

Duda’s visit comes a week after Trump met with British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, another NATO member and key proponent of supporting Ukraine, at the former president’s Florida estate.

In March, Trump hosted Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán , an autocrat who has maintained the closest relationship with Russia among European Union countries. Orbán shared a montage of footage of the visit on his Instagram feed, which included an image of him and his staff meeting with Trump and the former president’s aides in a scene that looked like an official bilateral meeting.

Trump also met briefly in February with Javier Milei, the fiery, right-wing populist president of Argentina who ran a campaign inspired by Trump , complete with red “Make Argentina Great Again” hats. Milei gave Trump an excited hug backstage at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference outside Washington, according to video posted by a Trump campaign aide.

Biden administration officials have been careful not to weigh in publicly on foreign leaders’ meetings with Trump, acknowledging he has a real chance of winning the race.

While some officials have privately expressed frustration with such meetings, they are mindful that any criticism would open the U.S. to charges of hypocrisy because senior American officials, including Secretary of State Antony Blinken, meet frequently with foreign opposition figures at various forums in the United States and abroad.

Security and policy officials monitor the travel plans of foreign officials visiting the U.S., but generally don’t have a say in where they go or with whom they meet, according to an administration official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss protocol.

Trump has been back in his hometown this week for the start of his criminal hush money trial , which has dramatically limited his ability to travel and campaign. While in town, aides have been planning a series of events that began Tuesday evening when Trump, after court adjourned, stopped by a Harlem bodega where a man was killed to rail against crime, and to blast the district attorney who made him the first former president in U.S. history to stand criminal trial.

Duda, a right-wing populist who once proposed naming a military base in his country “Fort Trump,” described the dinner earlier Wednesday as a private get-together between friends at Trump’s former residence while he is in town for meetings at the United Nations, where Duda is to deliver a speech.

“I have been invited by Mr. Donald Trump to his private apartment,” Duda told reporters, saying it was “a normal practice when one country has good relations with another country” to want those relations to be as strong as “possible with the representatives of various sides of the political stage.”

“We know each other as people. Like two, I can say in some way, friends,” said Duda, whose term ends in 2025.

Duda’s visit comes as House Republicans wrangle over a $95 billion foreign aid bill that would provide new funding to Ukraine, including money for the U.S. military to replace depleting weapon supplies. Polish leaders have been urging the House to approve the aid bill and ease domestic concerns.

Many Trump allies in the House are fiercely opposed to aiding Ukraine, even as the country warns that it is struggling amid a fresh Russian offensive . Trump has said he might be open to aid in the form of a loan.

One area where Trump and Duda agree when it comes to the conflict is a desire to push NATO members to increase their defense spending. Duda has called on fellow members of the alliance to raise their spending to 3% of gross domestic product as Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine. That would represent a significant increase from the current commitment of 2% by 2024.

Trump, in a stunning break from U.S. precedent, has long been critical of the Western alliance and has threatened not to defend member nations that do not hit that spending goal. That threat strikes at the heart of the alliance’s Article 5 , which states that any attack against one NATO member will be considered an attack against all.

In February, Trump went even further, recounting that he’d once told leaders that he would “encourage” Russia to “do whatever the hell they want” to members that are — in his words — “delinquent.”

Trump’s campaign said the two discussed the NATO proposal during the meeting. The two also discussed Israel and the Middle East, Trump’s 2017 trip to Warsaw, “and many other topics having to do with getting to world peace,” the campaign said in its readout, which described the men as “great friends.”

The visit was met with mixed reaction in Poland , where fears of Russia run high and Duda’s friendly relationship with Trump has been a source of controversy.

Poland’s centrist Prime Minister Donald Tusk, a political opponent of Duda, was critical of the dinner but expressed hope that Duda would use it as an opportunity “to raise the issue of clearly siding with the Western world, democracy and Europe in this Ukrainian-Russian conflict.”

Today, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced plans to invest an estimated $11 billion in Indiana, creating at least 1,000 new jobs and marking the largest capital investment in the state’s history. With the support of Governor Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC), AWS will build new data centers in St. Joseph County. AWS will also contribute up to $7 million to support road infrastructure improvements being built by the state and local community surrounding the company’s planned development.

This planned investment is part of Amazon’s long-term commitment to Indiana. Since 2010, we've invested $21.5 billion in the Hoosier State and have added $19.8 billion to Indiana’s gross domestic product, helping support customers, employees, and communities. Amazon’s investments have created 26,000 full- and part-time jobs in the state. Amazon's commitment to Indiana also includes enabling four solar farms and a wind farm, with a combined capacity of more than 600 megawatts of renewable energy, enough to power approximately 146,000 homes.

“AWS’s unwavering commitment to supporting our customers and helping drive digital transformation has been evident through our infrastructure investments across the United States,” said Roger Wehner, AWS director of economic development. “Building upon this, we are thrilled to be expanding our operations in Indiana through this planned $11 billion investment, which will create numerous well-paying job opportunities and tap into the state's burgeoning tech sector, while contributing significantly to the state's growing economy. This investment will include our continuing commitment to fostering workforce development and educational initiatives in areas where we operate, and we look forward to helping nurture the next generation of talent in the Hoosier State. We are excited to partner with Governor Holcomb, IEDC, and other state and local leaders to forge a path toward a brighter future for Indiana’s tech landscape.”

Empowering local communities

AWS is dedicated to the communities where our data centers operate. Building upon our commitment to St. Joseph County and the surrounding area, AWS is launching the AWS InCommunities St. Joseph County Community Fund, a grant program aimed at supporting initiatives focused on six key themes: science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) education; sustainability and environment; economic development; future workforce development; inclusion, diversity, and equity; and homelessness, hunger, health, and well-being.

Ohio

AWS is committing $100,000 to this fund, which will be managed and administered by the nonprofit ChangeX. The program is open to individuals, local community groups, schools, nonprofits, and other organizations across St. Joseph County and the wider South Bend region. Applicants can apply for grants of up to $10,000 for new or existing community projects that align with at least one of the six themes outlined by the fund. As part of our long-term community investment plan, the Community Fund marks the first steps through which we will collaborate with local partners to implement high-impact programs aimed at fostering the sustained growth and prosperity of the county.

Supporting STEAM awareness

Additionally, AWS will start a fund to support a curated set of STEAM awareness and learning opportunities for K-12 school systems. This fund will support implementation of programs such as the We Build it Better program, which provides industry-designed curricular experiences and resources that engage middle-school and older students in a work-like STEAM environment equipped with industry-grade tools. This program aims to foster interest and develop skills in STEAM fields from an early age, preparing students for future careers in these dynamic and rapidly evolving sectors.

Investing in education and skills training

AWS is also committed to empowering local communities by offering a range of educational programs and skills training opportunities. In collaboration with local educational and workforce development institutions, we aim to raise awareness about the region's emerging needs for a robust technology workforce and collaborate to create opportunities that lead to rewarding careers.

Among the local training programs that will be offered in the area is the Fiber Optic Fusion Splicing Workshop , which trains individuals in new fusion splicing techniques and equipment. Upon completing the free two-day workshop, learners earn a fusion splicing certificate and are immediately connected to employers who are currently seeking in-demand talent in the field of fiber broadband.

The Information Infrastructure Workshop, another upcoming program, is designed to help students, educators, and workforce leaders better understand the physical layer of cloud computing and our information economy, and the many different career options available. Through a series of workshops with employers, the program creates pathways to careers associated with building, connecting, operating, and powering data centers.

“Indiana’s long-term economic strategy is paying dividends for Hoosiers as we cultivate the growth of critical sectors like technology infrastructure,” said Governor Holcomb. “Amazon has long been an important economic partner in Indiana, and we are excited to welcome AWS. This significant investment solidifies Indiana’s leadership position in the economy of the future, and will undoubtedly have a positive ripple effect on the town of New Carlisle, the north central region and the state of Indiana for years to come.”

“The AWS announcement today will be a generational boost to our local and regional economy, and we are excited for the opportunity to welcome the AWS team and workforce into our community,” said Carl Baxmeyer, president, St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners. “This new data center campus to be built in the Indiana Enterprise Center (IEC) over the next decade will be a major employment center for all of northern Indiana. This project announcement also shows our alignment with the state’s goal to create next level jobs that benefit all Hoosiers.”

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – Miles Russell is too young for a driver’s license, but he outdrove his playing partners with ease Tuesday at the LECOM Suncoast Classic.

Russell, the world’s top-ranked junior golfer, will make his PGA TOUR-sanctioned debut this week on a sponsor exemption, roughly a four-hour drive from his hometown of Jacksonville Beach, Florida.

Russell, 15, is a high-school freshman who began online schooling in eighth grade. The smooth-swinging left-hander got ahead on coursework in recent days (classes include geometry, Earth science, world history and geography) so he can focus on competing at Lakewood National Golf Club’s Commander course. This isn’t a ceremonial start, as Russell has displayed high-end talent and skill across a schedule of big-time junior golf events. He surpassed Tiger Woods last fall as the youngest AJGA Boys Junior Player of the Year, and he nearly Monday qualified for the PGA TOUR’s Puerto Rico Open last month – falling in a playoff for the final spot.

A junior star’s first TOUR-sanctioned start becomes a time capsule in future years. Jordan Spieth finished T16 at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in 2010 (at age 16), and a 17-year-old Scottie Scheffler finished T22 at the same event four years later. Both, like Russell, are past AJGA Players of the Year and made their TOUR-sanctioned debut in their home state. The youthful energy radiates across time, and Russell looks forward to a similar experience this week in Florida.

“I don’t know what to expect, but I’d love to make the cut and who knows, maybe have a good weekend and see where it puts me,” Russell said Tuesday.

Russell was introduced to golf at age 2 by his dad and grandpa, “whacking it around the house … and it’s been history ever since,” he said. “Took me out to the course and went through a bucket of balls in 3 minutes, and it was just fun.”

Russell played baseball and soccer in his formative years, but he eased those sports back to focus on golf – he still enjoys some pickleball and tennis at times, but golf is his purest sporting love. He first attended THE PLAYERS Championship at age 2 (TPC Sawgrass is just 10 minutes from home) and said he’s attended that event as a fan each year since.

“I’ve always wanted to be able to do it," Russell said of eventually pursuing professional golf. "To have the chance to do it would be even cooler, and then to be able to do it would be awesome. I think it would just be cool to do something I love, and there’s not much more I love than this.”

His resume suggests he’s poised to do just that.

Russell was named the 2023 AJGA Player of the Year on Nov. 2 (a day after turning 15) in a year that included winning the Junior PGA Championship (by seven strokes), Junior PLAYERS Championship (carding a second-round 66 at TPC Sawgrass’ PLAYERS Stadium Course, en route to becoming the event’s youngest winner) and representing the United States at the Junior Ryder Cup.

Russell has worked with instructor Ramon Bescansa, whom he describes as both a swing coach and a skills coach, since age 6 or 7. Bescansa, a former Korn Ferry Tour member, will caddie for his student in his Korn Ferry Tour debut.

When asked about TOUR player comparisons that come to mind, Bescansa mentioned reigning Open champion Brian Harman, noting their elite hands, short game and intuition.

“He was already incredible when I first started working with him,” Bescansa said of Russell. “He had a golf IQ that’s not normal for such a young age. It’s been so much fun. I was able to not only help him with his swing, but teaching him how to play golf, play all the shots; he already had a huge understanding and he was like a sponge, a lot of teaching was done with him and a club, and try to do it.”

Russell says he’s more of a feel player than technical, and his instructor concurs. Bescansa said a large part of their work relates to tempo and being synced up. That will become especially paramount as Russell’s body continues to change.

“He’s only 15 and he’s still growing; every time I see him, he’s hitting it farther,” said Bescansa, noting that Russell has reached 112-113 mph of swing speed (which will likely increase in future years).

Russell made waves in the professional golf sphere by narrowly missing at Puerto Rico Open’s Monday qualifier, as he made bogey at No. 18 before falling in a 4-for-1 playoff won by Korn Ferry Tour member Evan Harmeling. (Harmeling proceeded to top-10 in Puerto Rico, his first TOUR start, to earn a spot in the Valspar Championship.)

In a twist, Russell and Harmeling often compete in chipping competitions around their hometown Atlantic Beach Country Club – Russell also often tests his skills against TOUR pros Vince Covello, Raul Pereda, Russell Knox, Philip Knowles and others. Being around professional golfers has accelerated Russell’s development into a world-class junior player, concurred Russell and his instructor, befitting of Russell’s “sponge” ethos.

That was also the case Tuesday, when Russell played an 18-hole practice round with veteran pros Roberto Diaz, Sam Saunders and Rob Oppenheim – who finished runner-up at the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Country Club earlier this month. (After being informed that Russell was the No. 1-ranked junior, Oppenheim quipped that if he wasn’t No. 1, that could foreshadow trouble for veteran pros at large.) Those three have combined for 907 starts between the PGA TOUR and Korn Ferry Tour.

Russell might embody the game’s future, but his veteran playing partners didn’t shy away from offering instruction in the present. On the par-4 11th tee, the group discussed how the hole might play in certain wind directions and various angles to consider on the short par 4 that could become drivable on a downwind day. As they strode up the fairway, Diaz shared nuances and a perspective accrued through a 15-year pro career.

“These guys have been great,” Russell said. “Certainly watching what they’ve doing; asked them some questions … they’ve kind of been showing me some secrets.”

Russell also spent some time at THE PLAYERS last month with world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, whom he said “was such a nice guy and such a great guy.” Scheffler famously debuted at THE CJ CUP Byron Nelson in 2014, finishing T22 with his sister Callie on the bag – and making a hole-in-one in the third round.

“Scheffler sounded like a PGA TOUR veteran Sunday, analyzing his experience and making a mental checklist of everything he wants to fix,” wrote ESPN at the time.

Russell too sounded like a veteran Tuesday discussing his week ahead, his quiet confidence backed up by his laundry list of accomplishments. The No. 1 junior wasn’t in the business of making bold proclamations, but he projected a sense of expectation to compete this week. When asked about highlight golf moments so far, he mentioned the Junior Ryder Cup and holing out on the 72nd hole at the Junior PGA Championship, but also …

“Maybe we’ll make one this week,” he said after completing Tuesday’s practice round, as he headed to the range for some further work. “Who knows?”
