Absolutely fantastic. James is a wonderful band. I've been a fan since I first got the album, Laid on cassette in high school. However this is my first time to see the band live. The lead singer, Tim Booth was a wonderful show man and the band was really killing it! The band members are talented musicians, there was a horn player and a mandolin even came out at one point. The crowd was entranced and loving the performance. If you get a chance to see James live, I really think you should. I didn't even get to see the main act, Psychedelic Furs but I wasn't disappointed at all. I completely got my money's worth! I would recommend looking into seeing James as a main act. I missed out on "Say Something" and "She's a Star" because there was no time for an encore but the crowd was really wanting one!

Wow, what an amazing venue, definitely going back there, James came on just like a support act, no smoke, no bells and whistles, just casually walked onto the stage, took their places and played an amazing acoustic set, so laid back but brilliant, then they left the stage, "see you later" said Tim

Sure enough, back on they came to the more familiar smoke and darkness, although Tim was on crouches, that didn't stop him from dancing, it did, however, stop him from his usual surf crowding, and dance away he did, along with just about everyone else in the venue when I looked around, what a fantastic night, thank you James, yet again, just brilliant, can't wait to see you again and again and again.

Been a fan of James since the 90's and had only seen them once before in Manchester in the Mid 90's (appx) but I am a music fan period and I see a lot of bands/singers but rarely does a gig blow you out of your socks and through the doors like the Llandudno event did - Five new songs on the set-list from the forthcoming album to be released in August - every new song was awesome!

There was something about the band AND the

audience at the gig but I couldn't put my finger on it and I left the gig with one goal in mind.... attend Parr Hall Warrington the night after... I tried but it was in vain due to the demand and was sold out 10 minutes after the tickets went on sale. (Source Parr Hall Box Office)

So, after obtaining a ticket from a great fan in Prestwich Manchester on THE DAY, it was on to the King Georges Hall Blackburn on the Saturday night.

I didn't think the band could top Llandudno but the feedback from Warrington was amazing and then they performed at Blackburn... I can only describe the gig as IMMENSE! By now I'm out of socks, blown off by the energy from the band and

the fans... An explosive unification of sound and love....

I needed a recovery period as I have disabilities, and it was Tuesday I was reading the reviews on Halifax - I just inquisitively had a check on a fan-fan site to see if any poor soul couldn't attend and would sell their ticket for Middlesbrough... lol

Up I went to Cleveland on Wednesday for the hat-trick. Honest opinion, I think the all-seater venue had a slight dampening effect on both band and crowd although it was still a fantastic gig, it just lacked that explosion that I experienced at the previous two, but take nothing away, this was still an awesome evening.

I dare say, had I not already been committed to another event on the night of the Finale to the tour in Scunthorpe a couple of days later, I'm sure I would have been heading over the Pennines AGAIN lol

The new album 'Living in Extraordinary Times' is set for release on 3rd August and to showcase the album the band are playing the rebuilt (2010) Scarborough Open Air Theatre on 18th August, with it's 6500 capacity, I can't see there being tickets available for long.

(In order to appease younger fans that may not get tickets, Scarborough had to ask Britney Spears to play the 17th August as a second prize for them (lol - Only joking) but it does highlight the attraction of this venue and looking down the list of Artists having played the venue, the names get bigger each year,

culminating in 2018 hosting The Script, Gary Barlow, Steps, (My sister tells me this group can sell-out 20-30,000 arenas??) Alfoe Boe, Il Divo and Bastille. THE Great Tom Jones having played in July 2017

The O.A.T is rapidly turning into a must play venue for the top artists and thus the arrival of James and the army of souls that are connected to this remarkable band, both musically and spiritually, will descend on Scarborough with a treat in store for many people at the gig AND within earshot -

What is certain to be the new anthem of James, MANY FACES, has the most poignant chorus sang by the entire audience for 2-3 minutes, (last tour appx's) in my opinion, if carried on the a low cloud it has the potential to bring the town and it's visitors to a standstill - this is an incredible experience both being in the audience singing along and hearing it.

Lead singer Tim Booth had encouraged the audience at Venue Cymru (Opening night of the tour) to sing along with the chorus, but I'm not sure even he and the other band members could have expected the reaction from them - EVERYONE was singing these touching four lines back to them. This for me and my three attendances was the highlight of the tour.

(although available to hear on you tube and was heard live on Jools Holland's show (09/06) the mobile phone recordings at the venues and the missing 3,000 backing singers on Jools's show couldn't reflect the soul caressing emotion the lyrics heard/felt in that fashion induce)

Llandudno 9/10 - Blackburn 10/10 - Middlesborough 8/10 (The all seater venue just took away a slight edge but still great) Overall 27/30 - As a gig attendee for nearly 40 years now, I like to think I can give fair critical analysis of a performance, the fact I attended three gigs in a week states a lot and using a score from 20 for a single event, 16/20 would be outstanding for any band/artist, only Amy Macdonald, Birdy, Nerina Pallot and Stiff Little Fingers (in my opinion only) have emulated James in the past couple of years..

If you ever can... YOU MUST SEE JAMES - It's a music experience you will never forget....Needless to say my ticket for the Scarborough event is already sitting in my drawer...

Event Details

James has announced a headline show featuring special guests Razorlight at The O2, taking place on Saturday 15 June 2024.

Following on from a hugely successful 40th Anniversary year, the band will be releasing their 17th studio album in April 2024, the first single of which will be announced in January, with further details to follow soon. Fans have a chance to access pre-sale tickets for the tour if they pre-order the new album. The pre-order link is here.

James were honoured at The Ivor Novello Awards 2023, receiving the PRS Music Icon Award, kick starting a whole year of celebration for their 40th Anniversary. This prestigious award was followed by the release of their orchestral double album Be Opened By The Wonderful which reached #3 in the UK charts in June and a run of sold out tour dates, receiving the best reviews of their career. Throughout the summer the band then headlined multiple UK and European festivals, culminating in two unique shows backed by full orchestra and choir at The Odeon Of Herodes Atticus, Athens and a Special Guest headline slot at Latitude Festival.

James have entered in to a golden era, and will continue to do so in 2024 and for many more years to come.

Tim Booth says “Deeply proud to announce that we are touring next year to coincide with the release of a rather wonderful new album that we are mixing this week. The new songs sound belting, and will fit this arena tour. Really looking forward to celebrating with you. Expect a mixture of the expected and unexpected - just like life. Nothing but love”

Jim Glennie says “We are delighted to announce our 2024 Arena Tour, supported by the wonderful 'Razorlight'. Come and share a night of biggies, rarities and a sizeable chunk of our exciting, next NEW album! See you there folks. With love, Jim from James”.

About James

One of Britain’s most enduring success stories, James have released 16 studio albums, selling over 25 million copies with their recent run of Top 5 albums proving to be a golden era for the band. All The Colours Of You released in 2021 was their most critically acclaimed in years, preceded by Living in Extraordinary Times and Girl at the End of the World which narrowly missed out on the top spot in 2016 to Adele.

James are: Tim Booth, Jim Glennie, Saul Davies, Adrian Oxaal, David Baynton-Power, Mark Hunter, Andy Diagram, Chloe Alper, Deborah Knox-Hewson.

About Razorlight

Since forming in 2002, Razorlight  have cemented their place as one of Britain’s Classic Indie-Rock bands. Their debut album ‘Up All Night ’ came out in 2004, capturing the incendiary energy of early 2000s London and carrying the era defining hits ‘Golden Touch’ and ‘Somewhere Else’.Their self-titled, UK number one follow-up  ‘Razorlight’ made the leap onto the international stage. Lead single, ‘In The Morning’, reached number three in the UK, and 'America’ went straight to number one. After 4 million albums, headlining Reading Festival and the front cover of Vogue, the band went on hiatus, gradually reforming in 2021 with the legendary line up of Johnny Borrell, Andy Burrows, Bjorn Agren and  Carl Dalemo. New songs ‘You Are Entering The Human Heart’ and ‘Violence Forever?’ from their 2022 Best Of album ‘Razorwhat?’ proved that the creative spark has been relit and a sold out 2024 UK tour reminded of their ability to deliver a masterclass in genuinely live, no-backing-track rock’n’roll.

Westchester's James Nicholas did the work, survived drama, earned spot on DP World Tour

james world tour

After enduring difficult conditions and unrelenting pressure in the final stage of DP World Tour Q School, James Nicholas was left twisting in the wind.

For two emotional hours, the 26-year-old Scarsdale native was a mess.

“Oh my gosh,” said Nicholas, who played his way into contention with a final-round 67 at Infinitum Golf and Beach Club in Spain. “We finished the round, I thought it was gonna be very, very close, but I didn't like my chances. I went to member orientation, came out and did some interviews, and checked the leaderboard again. I was still T19 and thinking maybe I did have a chance.”

He went looking for his caddie.

“After like 10 or 15 minutes, I finally found him sitting inside with the curtains down,” Nicholas continued. “He's like, ‘I'm not watching anybody finish on 18. I just can’t.' I'm anxious so I wanted to see what's happening, so I watched players three-putt for bogey, make eagles, and hit into the water.”

Only the top 25 finishers, including ties, earn status on the DP World Tour for the 2024 season.

Nicholas had no way to gauge the impact of each birdie and bogey. After spending four up-and-down years chasing a dream of playing full time, the former Ivy League player of the year at Yale knew a spot on the European tour could be life changing.

When he wasn’t on FaceTime with his girlfriend, America Richmond, he was on the phone with anxious family members and friends.

A bogey late in the final round was becoming more and more difficult to look past.

“They live and breathe every swing,” Nicholas said of the folks at home. “I think it was nice for them having that time difference because when they woke up, I was on 15 so there was no praying or voodoo or anything until the final holes. I FaceTimed America once I finished and kind of told her I blew it. She was crying and upset for me, but was telling me that whatever happened, I was going to be OK.”

Optimism began to increase with each passing minute.

“After kind of telling everybody, ‘We'll see. We'll see. We'll see,’ it started looking better and better and better,” said Nicholas, who’s made 39 Korn Ferry Tour starts since turning pro in 2019. “My smile got bigger and bigger and bigger, and I started walking faster and faster and faster. I was like, ‘Well, I might actually be a full member of the DP World Tour. All week, I was one shot back, one shot back, one shot back. I was never inside the top 25 until the end.”

He wound up in an eight-way tie for 22 nd a week ago, finishing the six rounds at 14-under.

The mood on the next FaceTime changed drastically as the reigning Westchester and Long Island Open champion shared the news. Mom was still crying, but each tear was celebratory.

“My dad was mid surgery with a patient on the table, so a resident was reading updates shot by shot,” Nicholas said. “My brother Steven called me, like, over the moon, wanting to know when he could play in a pro-am. My sisters were extremely, extremely proud and giving me all the congrats in the world, and my younger brother Brian called me from Sioux City after he scored two goals in his USHL game.

"We've always supported each other in our individual endeavors … and for me to finally like have some sort of success on the golf course, I was so proud and so thankful for the support system America and my family have provided over the years. It was an emotional couple of hours there.”

Taking a professional mulligan

Nicholas was all-state in football, hockey and golf at Scarsdale, and went to Yale to play football and golf. He played club hockey in college, too, but eventually dropped football to focus on golf. Nicholas went on to earn Ivy League player-of-the-year honors in 2018 and 2019.

The decision to become a touring professional was initially met with skepticism by a longtime friend of the family.

“I’ve known them forever,” decorated teaching professional and former Sleepy Hollow Country Club head pro Jim McLean said. “James’ grandfather took care of me when I was in New York and I taught Stephen, his dad, when he was a junior. I stay with them a lot when I’m up there.

"When they told me James wanted to play the PGA Tour, my advice was not to do it. He was like a 3.8 in pre-med and biochemistry at Yale. He was already doing things with Greyson clothing. He had a slam-dunk life in front of him if he wanted to play top-flight amateur golf in New York and maybe national stuff. I just know James had a real late start in serious golf. Most of these guys won a lot of AJGA events and were ranked top five as juniors, but here’s the thing about James: He hangs in there and keeps clawing away.”

Nicholas won Korn Ferry Tour status in 2019, but was eventually done in by a reshuffle. He’s since played in countless Monday qualifiers and regional events to keep the dream alive. He’s been to Q school on both sides of the Atlantic multiple times.

Nearly a year ago, before heading to an Asian Tour event in Thailand, he visited McLean at his golf school in Miami. A lack of results demanded change.

“We sat down and made a plan,” McLean said. “I told him what it was going to take and part of that plan was a daily routine, which stays between James and myself. I told him it would require four hours, seven days a week. I told him it was going to be really tough. He said, ‘I’ll do it.’ And he did. There are probably very few people who would do what I asked him to do and he kept going beyond six months.”

They also made swing changes after breaking down video of touring professional McLean has taught over the years and Cameron Young, another standout with roots at Sleepy Hollow who’s having success on the PGA Tour.

Jon McLean, who played at Oklahoma State and on multiple tours before moving on to instruction, went to work on Nicholas’ short game and putting.

“I was a tour player so I know how difficult it is, but you can see how determined James is and how good he is under pressure,” Jon McLean said. “Unless you’ve been through Q school, you don’t know what he was feeling, so it was good to see him thrive under that pressure. That’s empowering. My dad kind of challenged him to put in some really hard work and James stuck with it.

“This is huge. It’s a complete game-changer, having a full-time place to play on the second-best tour in the world.”

Nicholas has always had the ability to go low, but consistency was an issue. He was under par in all six rounds at the final stage of Q school in Spain.

“James surprised me, let me just say that,” McLean added. “He’s a tremendous athlete. He’s been successful in everything he’s done, but pro sports is a tremendous jump. It was nerve-wracking seeing him be so close at Q school. The PGA Tour is 1A and the DP World Tour is 1B, so this is a big deal. It’s right there. What he’s accomplished is a huge achievement.”

Wait, there’s more

Nicholas came home after Stage 1 of DP World Tour qualifying in France to play in the first stage of Korn Ferry Tour qualifying in Alabama. He needed to do more than advance. Nicholas had to finish on the first page of the leaderboard to avoid a scheduling conflict with Stage 2 in Spain. He won by two shots, locking in a Nov. 28 start at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club in Georgia.

Preparations are currently under way.

“I just now had a long conversation with my coaches,” Nicholas said by phone on Monday. “I need to sit down and just kind of think for a little bit about whether I should go for a Korn Ferry Tour card. Knowing that the (top five) in the final stage now get a PGA Tour card is an incentive to play next week.”

There’s no reason to rush into a decision with so much golf to be played and having a spot on the DP World Tour relieves some of the stress.

“Ending up in Europe is going to be really cool if that’s what happens,” Nicholas said. “I love traveling, I love exploring different cultures and learning new things, so that would be a dream come true, but also something I think I can handle.”

Down time has been elusive over the last year.

Thanksgiving will be spent with family heading to Florida to continue the celebration. A tryptophan nap is not part of the plan. He will also check in with friends in New York before heading for Georgia on Saturday.

“I’m going to miss a reunion party for the Scarsdale team that won a Section 1 championship,” he said. “I'm bummed because those guys are still family to me. Those are some of the best memories I have, but I’ll be able to FaceTime in and see all the boys.”

Nicholas also has a side gig.

He’s an equity partner in Grandstand, an interactive social media app for athletes developed by fellow Yale alum Sandeep Rajan.

“We’ve been going back and forth a couple of years now,” said Nicholas, a talented content producer who’s got 104,000 Instagram followers and 375,000 TikTok followers. “I’ve been consulting with the team, giving background and sharing my vision for making life easier and giving fans a better experience while kind eliminating the haters. There are so many naysayers on Instagram and TikTok and you don't always want to read those negative comments, especially if you're putting in the time to create this content and form this community.”

There will be updates for invited users and paid content for premium subscribers.

“It’s going to be a space to share a more vulnerable side with people that I know are there to follow me and support me,” Nicholas said.

Grandstand is building toward a wider release and will include athletes from multiple sports.

“I don't know if I can share exactly who’s signed up right now, but we've got Olympians along with athletes who play football, golf and tennis and some college athletes.”

Whatever happens in the weeks ahead, the journey will be well-documented.

“I've never had full status on any tour,” Nicholas said. “I've always complained that I don't know what I'm doing or where I’m going to be two weeks from now. To finally reach a point where I can make a schedule and play when I want to play and where I want to play is great. I'm really looking forward to that stability, but this is only the beginning. There is a lot more work I need to do.”

Fan Favorite James Nicholas has Secured DP World Tour Status

mm

With over 100k followers on Instagram James Nicholas has become a true golf social media phenomenon.

But while many of the other content creators out there are known for trick shots and fun challenge videos, James is out there trying everything he can to make it as a professional golfer.

And James’ most recent adventure was another adventure, albeit one with perhaps the happiest ending to date.

Earlier this month, James went abroad to try make it through DP World Tour Q-School in the hopes of securing status to compete on the DP World Tour. And after making it through the first stage, James was likely hoping that things could continue without any major hiccups.

That, however, appear to be asking for too much because right before the Second Stage, the airlines did a number on James’ travel bag and—like countless golfers fear while flying—damaged one of his clubs, specifically his TaylorMade Spider putter.

Fortunately, James was able to source a replacement and play through all the stress and distractions, as he was able to secure full DP World Tour status for 2024, alongside 32 other golfers—including DP World Tour winner Kiradech Aphinbarnrat.

Everyone here at Golficity wants to congratulate James on this monumental accomplishments and wish him the best of luck with this next step in his career.

And we’ll simultaneously make sure to track his performance (and hopefully celebrate some more wins) as the 2024 season gets underway.

James Nicholas overcomes broken putter in cross-oceanic Q-School journey

Site medalist at First Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School, securing full PGA TOUR Americas status

Change Text Size

While preparing for Second Stage of DP World Tour Q-School last week, James Nicholas went to a golf-club shop in Spain that had come highly recommended from his Instagram followers – which number greater than 100,000 – after his putter was another victim of airline transportation.

“The guy looked at me like I had five heads," Nicholas said. "He’s in there and I hear hammering and a saw – all these noises from his shop, and he comes down and he shakes his head and I walk out of there with my putter in two pieces.

“It was pretty funny. He handed me the head and the shaft. So, it was back to the drawing board.”

Despite some logistical nightmares of late, Nicholas is playing some of his best golf of the year at a great time – and as his site's medalist at First Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry, he’s eager to parlay that good play, equipment mishaps and all, into a potential PGA TOUR card.

Next up for Nicholas (at PGA TOUR Q-School) is Second Stage later this month. All players who advance to Final Stage will earn conditional Korn Ferry Tour status at minimum, with the top five and ties at Final Stage earning 2024 PGA TOUR membership. (First Stage medalists earn full status on PGA TOUR Americas; Second Stage medalists earn eight guaranteed Korn Ferry Tour starts.)

Status-related carrots abound. And if all else fails, he’s got a backup option.

“Last year was my first year as a pro golfer without status on a major tour … so my goal all year was to prepare for Q-School,” Nicholas said.

Nicholas earned medalist honors at his First Stage site in Alabama after shooting a final-round 63. After he made the turn in the final round, he knew he was safe. So, he pivoted his mindset from just keeping that spot to trying to win the tournament. He shot a 5-under 31 for his final nine holes to win by two.

Worst-case scenario for Nicholas, he’s locked in for 2024 PGA TOUR Americas as a First Stage medalist.

“I went in with the mindset of trying to execute to the best of my ability and see what happens. I had played Q-School there three previous times and I made it through there every time. I had a friend on the bag and there were lots of good memories,” Nicholas said. “I learned that you can’t win it in the first two days, but you can definitely lose it. But whenever you can win anything it feels good. It was a big momentum boost for the next weeks coming up.

“I’m playing great golf and hopefully I’ll continue doing what I’m doing. You just never know what will happen, timetable-wise, with this game.”

Despite nearly a year’s worth of preparation, he couldn’t have foreseen what would happen when he jumped across the pond.

After completing First Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School, Nicholas flew to Lisbon, Portugal (via Atlanta and New York), for Second Stage of DP World Tour Q-School. He drove three hours from Lisbon to his rental in Spain, then grabbed groceries and went to bed. And he didn’t think much about what was going on under the zipper of his golf-club travel bag.

Alas, when he got to the course the next day he saw how “mangled” his putter was. His 52-degree wedge was also unusable. He immediately texted the equipment manufacturers to ask about getting some replacements, but given it was 8 a.m. in Spain, it was close to midnight in California. There were some grueling hours ahead.

Luckily, both equipment reps said they would get building new clubs right away and would send them out ASAP – although they were unsure about the timelines for arrival due to potential complications with international shipping.

While the 52-degree wedge arrived in time for the first round, there was still a big question about the putter. When one putter turned into two pieces, he reached back out to his Instagram community, and the caddie master at Isla Canela Links in Spain, his Second Stage site, said he had Nicholas’ same TaylorMade Spider model, just not face-balanced. It would be fine.

“He lent it to me, but it was beat up,” Nicholas says with a laugh. “It had Sharpie drawn all over the top. It was not what I wanted to look down on and use. But I wasn’t picky. I missed everything the first two days, but it was enough to keep me in the tournament.”

The new putter from TaylorMade showed up Saturday and Nicholas shot 66-68 on the weekend (he was in the “honeymoon phase” with his new putter, he said) and made it through.

“It will make me remember that week even more,” Nicholas laughed.

Nicholas will tee it up at the six-round Final Stage of DP World Tour Q-School this week, also in Spain, before he returns to America for Second Stage of PGA TOUR Q-School in Valdosta, Georgia.

New wedge and putter in hand. Hopefully.

Challenger tour roundup: james captures title in galway.

james world tour

England’s Declan James rounded off a terrific week in Galway yesterday as he claimed the Garavan’s Bar West of Ireland Open title, beating Czech’s Viktor Byrtus in the final.

James earned a spot in the final by beating compatriot Finnlay Withington and faced an in-from Viktor Byrtus, who was looking to claim a first title since this time last year.

A rock solid James came out not giving a sniff to Byrtus, who had to produce something pretty special to earn a single point. The story of the match stayed pretty consistent, any pressure Viktor could apply was met with soft, high defence from James. Some of the attacks we had become used to seeing from the World No.60 kept on rolling, opening space and purposefully clinical finishes.

Byrtus did put on a good show, got the crowd going a few times and put in a great shift! James was just too polished overall.

Result: Men’s Final Declan James (ENG) bt [3] Viktor Byrtus (CZE) 11-3, 11-6, 11-6 (41m)

The finalists were confirmed in Breda at the BRESS Breda Open 2024 yesterday as four entertaining semi-finals concluded.

In the men’s event, top seed Yassin Elshafei wasted no time in booking his final place after beating Rotterdam based Joeri Hapers in 26-minutes. The Egyptian took a close opener 11-9 before hitting top stride in the next two games winning 11-4, 11-6.

He’ll now face compatriot Mohamed Nasser, who scored an upset over No.2 seed Rowan Damming in straight games. The 50-minute contest was intense throughout with both players trying to control the middle and find ways to attack. Nasser did this the better of the two however and after establishing a 2-0 lead, closed out a tight third game 11-9 to book a spot in the final.

The amazing run of women’s wildcard Laila Sedky was halted by No.3 seed Tessa ter Sluis in the top half semi-final. ter Sluis was forced to produce her best squash in the opening two games and took them both in close fashion 12-10, 11-9 before rounding off the quality performance in the third game, winning 11-5. She will play Scotland’s No.2 seed Alison Thomson in the final after the Scot came through a 38-minute affair with France’s Lea Barbeau.

Results: Men’s semi-finals [1] Yassin Elshafei (EGY) bt [4] Joeri Hapers (BEL) 3-0: 11-9, 11-4, 11-6 (26m) [3] Mohamed Nasser (EGY) bt [2] Rowan Damming (NED) 3-0: 11-7, 11-6, 11-9 (50m)

Results: Women’s semi-finals [3] Tessa ter Sluis (NED) bt [WC] Laila Sedky (USA) 3-0: 12-10, 11-9, 11-5 (27m) [2] Alison Thomson (SCO) bt [4] Léa Barbeau (FRA) 3-1: 12-10, 8-11, 11-7, 11-4 (38m)

Draw: Men’s Final [1] Yassin Elshafei (EGY) v [3] Mohamed Nasser (EGY)

Draw: Women’s Final [3] Tessa ter Sluis (NED) v [2] Alison Thomson (SCO)

Woke museum SLAMMED for 'racist' tour claiming Queen Charlotte was the 'first royal person of colour'

A London museum has been accused of "confusing the ignorant" and being "profoundly racist" after a guided audio tour incorrectly claimed King George III's wife, Queen Charlotte, was a "person of colour".

The guide, available to guests at the Queen's House, part of Royal Museums Greenwich, sees guests given "a very gay tour" of the estate by drag king and historian Christian Adore.

As museum-goers walk past a figurehead of the former Queen taken from the royal yacht HMY Royal Charlotte, a section of the guide plays a recorded message saying: "Queen Charlotte, the nation’s first royal person of colour.

"Yep, you heard me. The insecure white boys writing history conveniently forget to mention that bit, because... well, structural racism."

Royal Museums Greenwich says the tour, which "shares the spirit" of its LGBTQ+ History Month event, "Fierce Queens", contains Adore "sharing just some of the "deliciously gay stories" contained within its [the Queen's House's] galleries.

The description continues: "Along the way, he'll introduce the performers and artists that make Fierce Queens a night to treasure, allowing them to share their own experiences of representation and inclusivity in the historic space."

Its audio guide also highlights the bisexuality of King James I, and states King Charles II, known for his multiple mistresses, had a "progressive, genuinely modern understanding of relationships in the 1660s".

Elsewhere in the Queen's House, a bust of Lord Nelson is berated by a "migrant goddess" figure, who tells heroic British admirals to "move over" for the "unsung heroes of the sea" and claims Nelson's "bravery and resilience" is shared by migrants who make sea crossings.

MORE WOKE MADNESS:

・ 'Woke' madness as councils almost DOUBLE spending on 'ridiculous' equality, diversity and inclusion jobs

・ Woke madness spreads as pupil now tells teacher they identify as a FOX r they identify as a FOX

・ Woke schools 'urge children to befriend migrants' in diversity scheme

Reports of the guided tour were slammed by former Royal Navy officer Chris Parry , who said: "This level of stupidity simply degrades and defiles our national reputation for historical scholarship... These antics serve to confuse the ignorant and are profoundly racist. Remove public funding."

The idea that Queen Charlotte was not white was first put forward by German historian Brunold Springer in 1929 - a time of high interest in physiognomy pseudoscience in Germany - who claimed her portrait by Thomas Gainsborough was inaccurate.

Springer instead pointed to a portrait by Allan Ramsay, who emphasised her "broad nostrils and heavy lips", while other academics have highlighted historical accounts of the Queen's "Mulatto [mixed-race" face as evidence of her African heritage.

Later scholars pointed out one of her distant ancestors, Madragana, a Moorish mistress of Portugal's King Afonso III, would have contributed to her appearance - though this has been put down by historians as the word "Moor" was a religious, not racial, descriptor at the time.

In popular culture, Queen Charlotte has been depicted as mixed-race - most notably in Netflix drama Bridgerton and its spin-off, Queen Charlotte.

A museum spokesperson said: "The Fierce Royals pieces were performed in the Queen’s House, delivered by a number of performance artists, during LGBTQ+ History Month and part of an evening of light-hearted entertainment, and later added to our website for the enjoyment of those who could not come on the night.

"As part of the Fierce Queens event that the tour is based on, we had a black performer playing Queen Charlotte, which is why this segment was included in the tour.

"It was not written by or performed by members of RMG staff and as a performance piece, was not 'fact checked'."
