WPGA Tour of Australasia launch exciting 2023 Schedule.

Words: Release.

Image: Mark Wilson – Golfplus Media

The release of an 11-tournament schedule for the 2023 WPGA Tour of Australasia is getting back towards pre-pandemic levels, with over $1.6 million dollars up for grabs and a host of stars competing including Hall of Famer Karrie Webb, major winner Jiyai Shin and LPGA card holders Grace Kim, Sarah Jane Smith and Steph Kyriacou.

Four of the events are Webex Players Series tournaments at Rosebud, Cobram Barooga, Bonnie Doon in Sydney and Cypress Lakes Resort in the Hunter Valley. With a focus on equality for all, the Webex Players Series showcases the increased alignment between the PGA of Australia and the WPGA Tour, designed to provide playing opportunities for both men and women professionals who compete in the same field, for the same prize purse and the same trophy, and who are joined by outstanding juniors for the final two rounds. It is all designed to provide the stars of tomorrow with the foundation to forge long and prosperous careers in the game. NSW’s Kyriacou (pictured) was an amateur when she claimed the Australian Women’s Classic at Bonville Golf Resort in February 2020, providing the platform to take her game to the Ladies European Tour and then the LPGA Tour in 2022. “It’s hard to imagine exactly where I’d be right now without that win at Bonville a couple of years ago,” said Kyriacou, currently ranked No.96 in the world and a top-10 finisher at the Women’s Australian Open. “Playing professional events as an amateur was crucial in my development and I’m sure we’ll see a few girls step up and make names for themselves during the season. It’s great to see so many events on the schedule for the girls to further advance their golf and I’m looking forward to returning to Rosebud to start my 2023 season.” Fresh from obtaining her Ladies European Tour card at Qualifying School, West Australian Kirsten Rudgeley is expected to feature in a host of WPGA Tour events along with Karis Davidson and Cassie Porter.  The 2023 WPGA Tour of Australasia schedule will begin with a two-round qualifying tournament at Coolangatta and Tweed Heads Golf Club from Monday, January 16. It will be followed by the second edition of the $50,000 Melbourne International at Latrobe Golf Club from January 20-22, the ideal lead-up to the first Webex Players Series event at Rosebud the following week. There are a total of four Webex Players Series events, the Vic Open, the Women’s NSW Open, Australian Women’s Classic and the return of WPGA Tour pro-ams to the schedule at Moss Vale, Wagga Wagga and Southport. “It’s no secret that the past couple of years have been challenging but we’re now getting back to a schedule that provides our players with plenty of tournament-playing opportunities,” said WPGA Tour CEO, Karen Lunn. “What we’re particularly excited by is the diversity of the tournaments our women will be part of. Fans will see them play alongside the men at the Vic Open and during the Webex Players Series and then stand-alone WPGA Tour events in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland.”   2023 WPGA TOUR Schedule

LET ANNOUNCES RECORD-BREAKING 2023 SCHEDULE

Posted 5 jan '23, the $5 million aramco saudi ladies international presented by public investment fund will present the biggest purse outside the majors., 12 tournaments will feature prize funds of at least $1 million, including the newly unveiled la sella open lalla meryem cup and helsingborg open return to the schedule solheim cup set for spain..

The Ladies European Tour will continue to expand women’s golf globally in 2023 and its players will compete for at least €35 million, a record-breaking total prize fund. The LET announced today that the 2023 schedule will comprise 30 official events, along with the Solheim Cup in Europe. “Thanks to our partners, promoters, host venues and fans, 2023 is going to be an incredibly exciting year for the LET,” said CEO Alexandra Armas. “This year’s Race to Costa del Sol showcased the outstanding skill of our players and there will be even higher profile opportunities for our role models to shine next year, with more total prize money than at any time in our history. The LET has grown rapidly over the last three years and we have been oversubscribed for our recent Q-School, demonstrating the record level of interest. The LET now presents a platform for women to build a successful career and achieve their dreams in professional golf. We will continue to work hard to elevate the sport in Europe and around the world.” The 2023 global schedule will take the LET to 21 different countries, starting with the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, which will be played for the third time over the Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge in Kenya in the first week of February. The LET then returns to Morocco for the first time since 2019 for the Lalla Meryem Cup, which will be played over the Blue Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam at the same time as the PGA TOUR Champions contests the Trophy Hassan II over the venue’s Red Course. The Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund (PIF) will feature its strongest-ever field at Royal Greens Golf and Country Club, including 60 LET players and 50 players from within the top 300 of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, after the tournament announced its commitment to women’s golf by elevating the prize fund to $5million. South Africa will host two events in March, the Joburg Ladies Open at Modderfontein Golf Club and the Investec South African Women’s Open at Steenberg Golf Club in Cape Town. The first of five $1 million Aramco Team Series events will then take place in Singapore, followed by two more events in Asia. The LET will return to Europe in May for the Jabra Ladies Open at the world-famous Evian Resort Golf Club in France, followed by the second Aramco Team Series event at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach, Florida. After a successful launch in 2022, the Mithra Belgian Ladies Open will be played again at Naxhelet Golf Club. Then, in June, the Helsingborg Open will return to the schedule for the first time since 2015 and will be played at Allerum Golf Club. Remaining in Sweden, the LET will move on to Ullna Golf Club for the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed, where the players will attempt to follow in the footsteps of Linn Grant, who earlier this year became the first woman to win a DP World Tour event with a nine-shot victory over a mixed gender field in the co-sanctioned tournament. From there, the LET will move on to Berlin for the Amundi German Masters at Seddiner See Golf Club, followed by the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open at Beroun Golf Club and then the Ladies Open by Pickala, at Pickala Golf in Helsinki, Finland. In mid-July, the third Aramco Team Series event will be played once again at Centurion Club near London. In the third week of July, the €1 million La Sella Open will debut on the calendar at La Sella Golf in Alicante, Spain. In July and August, the Tour will play in four co-sanctioned tournaments with the LPGA, opening in France with the $6.5 million Amundi Evian Championship, the first Major on the LET schedule, followed by the $2 million Trust Golf Women’s Scottish Open, the $7.3 million AIG Women’s Open, the second Major Championship in Europe, to be played at Walton Heath in England and finally the $1.5 million ISPS Handa World Invitational presented by AVIV Clinics, in Northern Ireland, before returning to Dromoland Castle in Ireland for the second KPMG Women’s Irish Open. Early September will see Hilversumsche Golf Club in the Netherlands host the Big Green Egg Open and then the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open will be played once again at the picturesque Golfpark Holzhausern. On September 22-24, the Solheim Cup, featuring the 12 best players from the United States versus the 12 best European players, will be held at the stunning Finca Cortesin in Andalucia, Spain, where Team Europe is going for the hat-trick. Golf fans are readying themselves for what will be a truly unmissable event. The Lacoste Ladies Open de France will then return to Golf Barriere in Deauville, ahead of the fourth Aramco Team Series event in Hong Kong in October. The Hero Women’s Indian Open at DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon will precede the fifth Aramco Team Series event, in Riyadh, at the beginning of November. Finally, the 2023 season will culminate with the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España at Real Club de Golf Las Brisas, Marbella, where the winner of the Race to Costa del Sol will be crowned.

Golf & Tours awarded Best Women’s Golf Tour Provider in Australia again!

7 March 2022

We’re so proud to announce we are now dual award winners of the LUXlife Travel & Tourism Awards . In 2022, we’ve been awarded the Best Women’s Golf Tour Provider in Australia, for the second year running.

2022 Award Winner Golf & Tours

We are very excited to have received this award again, as this is a testament to our underlying business ethos, which is to provide extraordinary experiences for our guests. This is achieved by always paying attention to the details and finer touches, on all of our tours.

This philosophy applies to all our tours whether we are taking our guests on an amazing golf and gastronomic journey through picturesque Tasmania, helping our guests tick off that bucket list golf experience at Scotland’s top courses or coupling a tropical paradise with golf and shopping on a Hawaiian golf and Black Friday sales adventure.

Everything we do at Golf & Tours is built around the extraordinary, and creating those experiences and memories, that last a lifetime.

We are also especially proud that we are receiving this recognition of our focus on women’s golf, and creating travel experiences specifically for women. With golf being one of the last male bastions, Golf & Tours have made the conscious effort to focus on and promote women’s inclusion in this wonderful sport. We are also proud of the tours we offer each year that are open to women and men . We strive to make the tour experience on and off the course welcoming and completely inclusive to all guests.

The off course experience, or après golf (as we like to call it) is another key component of our ongoing success.

Golf & Tours Lake Como

For all of our tours , playing the best golf courses, around the world and within Australia is what initially brings us together. However, at Golf & Tours we also love to provide a broader travel experience that takes our tours to the next level. We go the extra yard in providing our guests with amazing destination specific experiences, when we’re not on the course. Authentic experiences that can only happen at amazing destinations. For instance:

  •  Taking a cruise on Lake Como in Italy
  • Enjoying a sunset cocktail on the beach at Waikiki
  • Attending a champagne tasting in Champagne in France
  • Touring a real castle on a loch in Scotland
  • Taking in the cherry blossoms in Japan

Most Importantly….

We would finally like to recognise and thank our amazing Tour Hosts . Without them, we would not been awarded Best Women’s Golf Tour Provider in Australia, again. These incredible people bring the tour groups together, and provide both impeccable hospitality and companionship.  They also do all the work behind the scenes (the work that no one sees), that make the whole tour experience run seamlessly from start to finish.

Australian Women's Classic returns to Bonville

Some of Australia’s best professional and amateur female golfers will return to Bonville Golf Resort this week for the fifth edition of the Australian Women’s Classic.

Tour of Britain Women: Lizzie Deignan 'grateful' as Wales to host first two stages of 2024 tour

Britain's Lizzie Deignan says she is grateful the Women's Tour of Britain has returned "against the odds" as British Cycling revealed the route.

Wales will host the first two stages of the 2024 race, which starts on 6 June.

The first edition under its new name - it was previously known solely as the Women's Tour - will begin in Welshpool, with stage one ending in Llandudno.

"I'm really grateful to the people who have made it happen against he odds," said Lidl-Trek's former winner Deignan.

"Hard work has gone on behind the scenes to pull this event off. Sometimes it's underestimated how much it takes to put on a race," the 34-year-old added.

The Women's Tour was cancelled in 2023 after organisers failed to find the funding required for the race.

The world's top female riders and teams will race through Wrexham on day two as the rebranded event returns this year.

The tour will then move on to Warrington before concluding in Greater Manchester on Sunday, 9 June.

Deignan added: "People in the UK are brilliant sports fans and there's this sense of excitement and thrill at being able to be part of a spectacle like a bike race - and it's exciting to be able watch at the side of road and to be in centre of that is not something I take for granted."

Jon Dutton, chief executive of British Cycling, said: "While there is still a great deal of work to do, today is another important milestone in our journey and reflective of the enormous goodwill and support which major road cycling events continue to enjoy.

"Our primary focus has been to deliver a safe and competitive race in 2024, but we remain every bit as determined to harness the race's spotlight to make a real impact in the communities which it touches, and know that is a vision which resonates strongly in conversations with prospective commercial partners and hosts."

The four stages include varying terrain, with the first stage beginning in mid-Wales before riders head to Llandudno on the north coast.

Starting and ending in Wrexham on day two, riders will take on the challenging climbs in the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley.

They will then cross the border to begin and end stage three in Warrington, a flatter route which will favour the sprinters.

British Cycling take on organising Tour of Britain races for men and women

The fourth and final day sees riders depart from National Cycling Centre, the home of British Cycling, before finishing the tour in Leigh.

Rod Ellingworth, Tour of Britain race director, said: "It's been a monumental effort by the whole team over the past 10 weeks to confirm the stages for this year's Tour of Britain Women.

"The race will take in four competitive and challenging routes, some challenging climbing in Wales and what I'm sure will be brilliant crowds on the roadside throughout."

Tour of Britain Women 2024:

Stage 1 - Thursday 6 June 2024: Welshpool to Llandudno

Stage 2 - Friday 7 June 2024: Wrexham
