Day 1 - Trichy

Reach as per your convenience in Trichy as the tour commences and rest before the actual tour gets started in our hotel accommodation of your choice. Visit Rockfort Temple and Sri Rangam Ranganathar Temple on your first day of the trip in Trichy.

Day 2 - Trichy - Thingalur – Kumbakonam – Surayanarkoil – Thirunageswaram

A fresh morning loaded with breakfast, we initiate our journey with Kailasanathar Temple in Thingalur. It is one of the nine Navgraha sthalas dedicated to planet Moon having a separate shrine for Lord Moon. It is said that moon light falls directly on the image of the presiding deity during Tamil month of Purattasi (Sep-Oct) and Panguni (Mar-Apr). We then commence our journey again with Suryanar Kovil located in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. This temple is considered one of the nine Navgraha sthalas with presiding deity the Sun (Suriyanar) and his consorts Ushadevi and Pratyusha Devi. After the darshan, we move towards Thirunageswaram.

Day 3 - Kumbakonam – Alangudi – Thirunallaru – Keelperumpallam – Thiruvenkadu – Vaitheeswaran koil – Kumbakonam

We start from Kumbakonam with heavy breakfast towards Alangudi. It is one of the nine Navagraha Sthalas dedicated to planet Jupiter (Dakshinamoorthy, the Guru). Our next stop is Thirunallar, the most noted for the shrine dedicated to planet Saturn (Sani). Next, we go to visit Keelperumpallam, where Naganathar Shiva temple is famous for Navagraha worship of kethu. After attending this temple, we proceed to Thiruvenkadu, which has Lord Shiva as the main deity and a separate sannidhi for planet Mercury (Budha). It is believed that praying to Shiva and holy dip in the pond can cure all diseases. Mars too was relieved from Brahma’s curse of leprosy at this temple. From here, we drive to Keezhaperumpallam (about 8 km.) which is home to Naganatha Swamy Temple . While Lord Shiva is the main deity worshipped as Naganatha here, the temple also has a shrine dedicated to Ketu. It is believed that praying here relieves one from the misery caused by the lunar node. Pray and explore the temple. Later, we drive you to Kumbakonam (about 60 km.) for night stay.

Have breakfast and start the day by visiting Saniswaran Temple (also called Dharbaranyeswarar Temple ) in Tirunallar (about 52 km.). The temple has Lord Shiva as its chief deity, while Shani (Saturn) is also worshipped here. It is also counted among 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, the greatest temples of Lord Shiva. Praying to Shani at this temple is believed to overcome troubles caused due to Shani Dasha. Pray at the temple and later drive to Alangudi (about 171 km.).

Home to Apatsahayesvarar Temple dedicated to Guru/Brihaspati (Jupiter), Alangudi is the place where Shiva consumed lethal poison to save the world and is hence worshipped as Apatsahayesvarar (the lord and saviour during hardships). The temple has a beautiful gopuram with mesmerizing carvings. Pray and explore the temple and then proceed to Thingalur (about 79 km.).

Dedicated to Chandra/Soma (Moon), the Kailasanthar Temple at Thingalur too has Lord Shiva as the main deity. It was here that Appar, one of the most renowned Saiva Saints, brought the son of one of his devotees back to life after he was bitten by a snake. Pray at the temple and explore the rich carvings and magnificent architecture. From here, we proceed to Suryanar Kovil (about 45 km.).

This village hosts Suryanar Temple dedicated to Sun (Surya) God. Interestingly, the temple has shrines dedicated to all other 8 Navgrahas, along with the main shrine of Surya where the God is worshipped along with his consorts. Flaunting the enchanting Dravidian Architecture, the temple built in masonry is popular not only for its religious value but also for architectural brilliance. Drive back to Kumbakonam (about 15 km.) for night stay.

After breakfast, drive from Kumbakonam to Swamimalai (about 8 km.), which is home to one of 6 holy abodes of Lord Murugan. It was here that Murugan explained the meaning of the Pranav Mantra ‘Om’ to his father Lord Shiva who praised the former as Swaminatha Swami (Teacher of Shiva). Discover beautiful gopurams (gateway towers) and pray at the temple. Drive further to reach Tirunageswaram (about 14 km.).

The place is home to Rahu Sthlama or the temple dedicated to the lunar node Rahu. Lord Shiva is worshipped as Naganathar who was worshipped by the snake called Adisesha here. Shiva blessed the snake with the designation of the King of Serpents. The place is also famous for being the abode of Goddess Girigujambal. Pray at the temple located on the bank of River Kaveri and move on to Kanjanur (about 13 km.).

At Kanjanur, you will visit the Agniswarar Temple , the abode of Shukra (Venus). Lord Shiva is worshipped as Agniswarar and it is believed that Shukra resides in the stomach of Shiva’s idol here. It was here that Lord Shiva performed cosmic dance and blessed Sage Parasara. Pray and drive back to Kumbakonam (about 17 km.) for night stay.

Leave Kumbakonam after breakfast on a drive to Pondicherry (about 129 km.) and stop at Chidambaram (about 73 km.) on the way.

The holy temple town is home to numerous Hindu shrines, the most popular being Nataraja Temple , one of the five Panch Bhoot Sthlams (sacred Shiva temples representing various elements of nature called air, water, fire, earth and sky) where the Shiva Lingam represents the element sky (space). It was here that Shiva took the form of Nataraja (God of Dancers) and performed Tandava Dance on a demon’s back.

Pray at the temple and spend some time at Pichavaram popular for its lush green mangrove forests and pristine backwaters. Continue to Pondicherry, the erstwhile French colony which bears the influence of European and Indian cultures, and check in at the booked hotel on arrival.

Navagraha Yatra Tour Itinerary Package

Day 1 : Arrival in Chennai

Upon arriving at Chennai our tour representative will escort you to your allotted hotel where you will be spending half day in leisure before heading out for a brief half day sightseeing tour of Chennai.

During this sightseeing tour you will be taken to the following places: Kapaleeshwarar temple in Mylapore which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is home to numerous shrines inside the main temple; Parthasarathy Temple is an 8th-century Vaishnavite temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and is one of the oldest structures in Chennai.

Your day will end on a calming note with a visit to the longest natural urban beach in India, Marina beach.

You will then be made to head on towards your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 2 : Chennai – Kumbakonam

Early in the morning, you will be made to depart for Kumbakonam, which is located at a distance of 5 hours and 40 mines. Upon your arrival, you will be immediately checked in to your allotted hotel and later visit to some of the most prime temples here which are: Thingalur Temple – moon temple and Alangudi mandir – Jupiter temple. Later in the evening, you will be made to visit Darasuram and Swaminathaswamy Temple – one of the 7 homes of Lord Murugan. Later you will be made to head back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3 : Kumbakonam Sightseeing

Early in the morning, your sightseeing tour will commence which will include: Suriyanar mandir – sun temple; Kanjanoor Mandir – Venus temple; Thirunageswaram Temple – Rahu Temple. In the afternoon you will be made to visit Vaitheeswaran Koil mandir – Mars temple before heading back to your hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 4 : Kumbakonam – Chennai

Early in the morning, you will be made to visit Thirunallar mandir – Saturn temple; Thiruvenkadu mandir – Mercury temple and Keelaperumpallam Mandir – Ketu temple. You will then be made to depart from Kumbakonam to Chennai which will be a journey of 5 hours and 45 mines. Your journey will come to an end with us after you are transferred to the railway station/airport and boarded the flight/train heading onwards towards your preferred destination.

Navagraha Temples Tour - Tamilnadu An awe inspiring tour to nine Amazing Temples

Destinations covered : tiruchirapalli (trichy) - kumbakonam (100kms - 2.5 hours drive), itinerary details.

Day 01 : Arrival at Tiruchirapalli (Trichy)

On your arrival at Tiruchirapalli Airport, you will be greeted by our representatives who will then assist you in hotel transfer and also the check in formalities. After having some rest we will be proceeding to Kumbakonam which is at a distance of 100 km from Trichy and it will take hardly 2 hours to reach there by road. From here our tour will start. Navagraha Temples are basically a cluster of nine temples which are dedicated to seven planets and the other two are dedicated to the Sun God and the Moon God. These temples are situated in different villages which are at a commutable distance. On day one we will visit Chandran Temple in Thingalur which is dedicated to Moon God, and then we will go to Alangudi to visit Guru Temple. Sukra temple and Sooriyan temple, dedicated to Sun God are situated in Kanjanoor. Dinner and overnight stay will be at hotel.

Day 02 : Kumbakonam - Thirunallar - Kumbakonam

At a distance of 90 km from Kumbakonam is Thirunagesharam, which will be our first destination on second day of Navagraha temples tour. We will start early after having our breakfast. The temple in Thirunagesharam is dedicated to Rahu and then there is Saneeshwarar temple at Thirunallar village which is dedicated to Saturn. Keezhaperumpallam village has Kethu temple and after visiting this temple, we will drive back to hotel at Kumbakonam. Dinner and overnight stay will be at hotel in Kumbakonam during Navagraha tour.

Day 03 : Kumbakonam - Vaithiswaran Koil - Kumbakonam

On the day third day we will start early for the remaining temples. We will first visit Vaithiswaran Koil which is a Sevvai Temple and then we will head towards Thiruvenkadu where there is Budhan temple. In each of these temples, planets are worshiped as gods. After this visit we will head back to hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 04 : Kumbakonam - Tiruchirapalli

On the last day of our tour we will go back to Trichy where our representative will assist you in checking out formalities and escort you to the airport from where you will board a flight for your next destination.
