Best Eiffel Tower photo spots in Paris - photo taken at sunrise

1. Trocadéro is the best Eiffel Tower photo spot.

The Esplanade de Trocadéro is the place that offers the most spectacular view over Eiffel Tower. While some renovation works are still in place, most of the photo spots are now available . The aim of the works is to build the largest garden in Paris, with a 1.6km long green space around the Eiffel Tower to allow pedestrians and cyclists to move around freely. Explore the list of works for the Tower on The Local .

What spots around Trocadéro are not available anymore?

There is one spot that is permanently not available for pictures: the wall . Meaning that it’s not possible to take photos sitting on the wall anymore. The reason for this is that the top of the wall was modified to make sitting impossible. See the photos below.

This means that such pictures are not possible anymore. See below.

2. Avenue de Camoëns. Second best Eiffel Tower photo spot.

This is a quiet street that offers a great view over the Eiffel Tower. The uniqueness of this place is the beautiful architecture that surrounds the street. The typical Haussmanian buildings offer that one of a kind Parisian charm.

3. Bir Hakeim bridge (Inception bridge)

The Bir Hakeim bridge, famous from the movie Inception with Leonardo DiCaprio has one of the most spectacular views overlooking the Eiffel Tower. The uniqueness of this Eiffel Tower spot is the fact that the bridge itself is beautiful and can make for a cool backdrop for your Paris pictures.

4. The Seine River – Romantic Eiffel Tower Photo Spot

There is something about water that makes it romantic. Many couples choose to celebrate their marriage on a river cruise on the Seine River. There is a great spot close to the Tower that offers a gorgeous view and it’s perfect for romantic pictures. If the water means something to you as a couple, then this spot should be on the list.

5. Promenade Marie de Roumanie

This spot is probably one of the prettiest around the Eiffel, especially during the warm season. There are several Parisian benches that are great props for pictures. However, the uniqueness of this location are the blossoming roses. Red, purple, white, yellow, simply choose the color that matches your photo shoot outfits .

6. Rue de l’Université

This cute little street is right next to the Eiffel Tower. The view is quite spectacular due to the proximity of the tower, which measures 1063 ft .

7. Pasarelle Debilly

This pedestrian bridge is in walking distance from the Eiffel Tower and the well known exquisite restaurant Monsieur Bleu . More and more people leave their love-locks on this bridge (we don’t encourage such gestures by the way, to preserve the looks of the city), so in your pictures, you’ll see these as well.

8. Rue Saint Dominique

This spot is a bit further from the Eiffel Tower, close to the Café Le Recrutement. The typical Parisian buildings and a street that breaths Parisian air are the ideal setting for romantic street pictures with the Eiffel Tower.

9. Alexander 3 bridge

If all the other spots that we mentioned earlier are within walking distance from the Tower, to get to the Alexander 3 bridge we recommend to take public transportation or taxi/uber. The bridge is probably one of the best photography spots in Paris . The incredibly elegant architecture and the beautiful golden details make it perfect for romantic photos. Plus, you can get the Eiffel Tower in your pictures.

Café Photos

If you are on a Paris photo session itinerary, after so many pictures with the Eiffel Tower and walking, you’d appreciate a strategic stop in a Parisian café. We recommend Casé Castel that is very close to the Tower and has great cappuccino. If you have booked a multi-hours photo shoot, then you can change outfits here for your next location. If not, then it would be fun to finish your photo session with a few piece-of-life pictures. Enjoying a delicious croissant and cappuccino.

Eiffel Tower photography tips

best view of eiffel tower

Go at the right time

Plan to go early in the evening for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening for the sunset shoot.

You’ll get magnificent photos while still beating the crowds as most of these places receive very few people at those times.

Plan to walk a lot so wear comfortable shoes

Since most of the Eiffel Tower photo spots are not far from each other, the best way is to plan to see them on the same day especially if you just have a few days in Paris.

This means that you’ll walk a lot and the best way not to get worn out easily is by wearing comfortable walking shoes.

Pack the right essentials for the day

If the idea is to be outside for a number of hours, you’re better off carrying your day’s essentials. Below are a few things you should take with you.

  • Extra batteries and memory card: These memory cards will work well since you’ll be taking lots of pictures.
  • Re-usable Collapsible water bottle: Paris has a number of drinking water fountains so it’s better to take this reusable collapsible water bottle that you can just keep refilling instead of buying bottled water.
  • A Power bank: If you plan to use your phone for some photos, your battery will run so take this portable power bank to stay connected all the time.
  • Phone: Duh! There is no way you can forget it
  • Anti-theft backpack: You’ll need such an anti-theft daypack to keep all your day’s travel items and since pickpockets are common, especially in crowded places, be sure that you can see it at all times. Also, do not randomly place it or any of your travel items on the ground without anyone watching them.

Now that you know some of the Eiffel Tower photography tips, let’s look at the best Eiffel Tower photo spots not to miss.

The Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots

Read on to find out the best places for Eiffel Tower photos.

1. Trocadéro square

Trocadero is one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots

This is probably the most famous spot to go for an Eiffel Tower photo shoot and one of my favorite places actually. And since it is directly opposite the Eiffel Tower and a little bit raised, you’re bound to get the best view of the Eiffel Tower.

However, since it’s a popular Eiffel Tower Photo Spot, you can expect to find huge crowds and the best way to beat them is by either going early in the morning for a sunrise Eiffel Tower photo shoot or late in the evening at sunset.

At that time, the crowds will be fewer and you get to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at the most beautiful times of the day.

best views of the Eiffel Tower

And a big plus about the Trocadéro is that you get to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from various angles and spots with the notable ones being the Staircase , the main Trocadéro square which creates a beautiful reflection if you visit at the right time, the Fountain of Warsaw which creates a magnificent backdrop of the Eiffel tower photos and not forgetting the Beautiful Trocadéro gardens which brings out the beautiful contrasting greenery in the Eiffel tower pic.

With all those features, it’s not hard to see why the Trocadéro is one of the most famous and best Eiffel Tower photo spots as you can get a variety of beautiful pictures of the Eiffel tower from just one spot.

2. Champs De Mars

Champs de Mars is one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots

Want to get up close Eiffel Tower pictures, then head to Champs de Mars ! It is a beautiful garden right next to the Eiffel Tower.

It might seem a bit small but it’s actually quite big and you can take Eiffel Tower photos from various angles. This spot is particularly more beautiful if you visit during springtime as it offers some of the best cherry blossoms in Paris.

Imagine a photo of the Eiffel Tower with beautiful pink flowers in it – it can’t get any prettier than this! Spring is actually my favorite season to photograph the Eiffel Tower at Champs de Mars.

However, even if you can’t visit Paris in springtime , any time of the year is a great time to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

And if you want to even take it a notch higher and get some of the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower, you can plan a picnic right at the footsteps of the Iron Lady at this gorgeous park.

3. Rue de l’Université

Rue De L’Université is one of the best places to take photos of the Eiffel Tower

If you’re standing in front of the Eiffel Tower with the Champs de Mars behind you, just head left and you’ll find this popular Eiffel Tower photo spot, Rue de l’Université .

It’s one of the popular Instagram spots in Paris so you can be sure to find people here, and if it’s not that, you’ll find cars parked so you’ll just have to find a way to take pics of the Eiffel Tower at the right moment to miss the cars or the people.

What makes this street popular and beautiful is that you get incredible views of the Eiffel Tower, together with a cobblestoned street and the typical Parisian architecture in one photo.

Rue De L’Université is one of the best instagram spots in Paris

In my opinion, it’s the perfect place to get the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower. However, be sure to go to the exact spot as this street is quite big (the 10th longest in Paris to be exact), so if you’re not keen enough, you might end up in the wrong spot.

So to make sure that you go to the Eiffel Tower photoshoot spot, I’ve included an interactive map in this post; you just need to click on it and you’ll know where exactly to go.

4. Passerelle Debilly

Passerelle Debilly is one of the best places to take Eiffel Tower pictures

One of the beautiful Eiffel Tower Photo spots is the Passerelle Debilly ! This bridge that connects pedestrians from one side of the Seine to the other – from  Quai de New York  to the  Quai Branly is the perfect spot if you want to take Eiffel Tower pictures with the Seine River in them.

With the Eiffel Tower, the Seine, the love locks, and the bridge in one frame, you’re guaranteed to have a spectacular Eiffel Tower pic.

5. Square Rapp

Square Rapp is one of the best places to take pictures in Paris

If you love taking street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then you’ll love Square Rapp . It is a hidden gem off Avenue Rapp in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

The square overlooks the Eiffel Tower and various Haussmannian architecture-style buildings creating a beautiful Parisian charm and a one-of-a-kind Eiffel Tower photo op.

And, unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, Square Rapp is still unknown to many or others just ignore it, which means that you can take countless photos and take in this Eiffel Tower street view without the crowds.

Square Rapp is one of the best Eiffel Tower Photo spots

And while in this spot, don’t just stop at taking pics of the Eiffel Tower, take some time to walk down the entire Avenue Rapp and you’ll be treated to secret but beautiful places in Paris you didn’t think existed right in the heart of the capital; like the Lavirotte Building and its controversial doorway known as the “door of Avenue Rapp” and other Haussmann buildings.

This to me is the best street for Eiffel Tower photos!

6. Montparnasse Tower

Montparnasse Tower is one of the places to take Eiffel tower pics

Sometimes capturing the Eiffel Tower means going to one of the tallest buildings in Paris and Montparnasse Tower is the perfect spot.

With it being directly opposite the Eiffel Tower, you get unobstructed views which means that the Eiffel Tower pics will come out perfectly well with the iron lady protruding through Paris’ rooftops.

You can go to Montparnasse Tower at any time but in my opinion, the best time to go is at sunset to be able to capture the iron lady with the backdrop of a beautiful sunset.

Montparnasse Tower is one of the places to take Eiffel tower pics

Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots, you’ll need to pay to access the Montparnasse Tower rooftop but the stunning Eiffel Tower views you get are worth the price.

And to make sure that you skip the Paris long lines at Montparnasse Tower, grab yourself this skip-the-line entry ticket .

7. Rue St. Dominique

Famous for being one of the best shopping streets in Paris , Rue St. Dominique in the 7th arrondissement also never disappoints when it comes to being a perfect Eiffel Tower photo shoot spot.

With the view of the Eiffel Tower “embroidered” right in the middle of the street with various cafes and partisan buildings beside it, you can be sure you’ll get the perfect Eiffel Tower street photo.

And when you finish capturing that perfect Eiffel Tower photo, don’t be in a rush to leave yet as there are lots of things to do on this charming street.

From indulging yourself with famous Parisian pastries from the many bakeries, eating your heart out at the cute cafes in the area, or shopping until you drop from the many stores.

Regardless of what fills your heart, you’ll find something to do while on your Eiffel Tower photography journey in the area.

8. Seine River

Eiffel tower photo from Pont Alexandre III

From all the Eiffel Tower photo spots mentioned here, I think the Seine River is the best. I know I keep saying that at almost every spot but there is something about the Seine that brings out the magic and beauty of the Eiffel Tower.

Actually, there is not one specific spot to take photos of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine but rather a variety. So all you have to do is look for a place along the Seine but also near the Trocadero and you’ll be able to capture the Iron Lady clearly.

Other spots at the Seine you can go to photograph the Eiffel Tower include; Pont Alexandre III , Pont Neuf , or even on a Seine River cruise.

The big plus about taking the river cruise is that you’ll get to see the Eiffel Tower from different angles hence taking various photos.

You can take pics of the Eiffel Tower from the Seine at any time but I recommend going at night as you’ll be able to capture the Eiffel Tower with the reflection of the shimmering lights on the water which creates such a magical sight and photo op.

Pro tip* If you choose to go for a Seine cruise, I recommend taking this one if you prefer a day-time cruise but if you prefer photographing the Eiffel Tower as it shimmers at the top of the hour, I recommend taking this Seine river dinner cruise for an absolutely great time.

9. Pont de Bir Hakeim

Pont de Bir Hakeim is one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots

Another bridge in Paris where you can take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Pont de Bir Hakeim . The bridge crosses the Seine connecting the 15th and 16th arrondissements .

Its prime location opposite the tower and its design with the steel columns next to it and lanterns in between make for a perfect photo spot of the Eiffel Tower.

Pont Bir-Hakeim is one of the places to add to your 3 days in Paris itinerary.

While it’s not an incredibly busy bridge like some others, it’s an actual operational bridge with cars and pedestrians.

So while taking that perfectly framed Eiffel Tower pic, be on the lookout not to cause an accident! Being one of the best Eiffel Tower photoshoot ideas, it’s not uncommon to find wedding shoots going on here.

10. Pont d’Iéna

Pont De'lena is one the best places to take photos of the Eiffel Tower

Probably the most famous spot to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower at night or even at sunset. With just a few steps from the Trocadéro, Pont De’lena is the easiest way to connect to the Eiffel Tower from both sides of the Seine – the left and right banks.

At this spot, you’ll literally look like you’re taking photos from under the Eiffel Tower which is quite a unique shot compared to ones taken from other places — something that makes Pont De’lena a really special Eiffel Tower photo spot.

11. Avenue de Camoens

Best Hotels with Eiffel Tower View in Paris

If you’re looking for hidden or less crowded Eiffel Tower photo spots, then look no further than Avenue de Camoens in the 16th Arrondissement.

Since it is located at the top of a staircase, not so many people know about it which means that you’ll be able to take countless photos of the Eiffel Tower without feeling like you’re “hogging” the place.

Avenue de Camoëns is one of the prettiest streets in Paris

With the staircase and beautiful Parisian buildings in the background, this place makes for a perfect Eiffel Tower photoshoot spot.

12. Rue de Monttessuy

If you’re like me who can’t get enough of street photos of the Eiffel Tower, then add Rue de Monttessuy in the 7th arrondissement to your Parisian bucket list .

Unlike other places that give that old Parisian charm, this spot has some newer buildings so it will be nice to have a little bit of contrast between the Eiffel Tower and the newer angle of Paris.

13. Galeries Lafayette Rooftop

Stunning view from Galeries Lafayette terrace

Another place to take a stunning photo of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is the Galeries Lafayette Rooftop . This Parisian department store may be famous for shopping since it houses luxurious brands but its terrace offers stunning views of the Eiffel Tower.

Unlike other Eiffel Tower photo spots on this list, from here, you can see other popular attractions like the Paris Opera and not forgetting the stunning Paris roofs.

14. Arc de Triomphe observation deck is one of the Eiffel Tower Best Photo Spots

View of Paris from Arc de Triomphe

One of my all-time favorite spots to take photos of the Eiffel Tower is the Observation deck of the Arc de Triomphe !

What makes this spot perfect is that it’s not too high so you get to see everything clearly instead of seeing small items below. Besides the view of the Eiffel Tower, you also get to see how 12 roads diverge from the Arc.

Stunning and beautiful, this is one of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower.

However, since you need to climb the Arc, you’ll need to buy this skip-the-line ticket to avoid wasting time in queues.

15. From The Top Of Sacré Coeur

View from the dome of the Sacre Coeur

Being on the highest place in Paris, Sacré Coeur offers an opportunity to photograph the Eiffel Tower without any obstructions.

From here, you get a stunning view of the entire city too! I recommend going there at sunset to see the entire city covered in beautiful yellow-orange-hued colors.

You should note that you’ll need to climb the 300 steps here as there is no elevator and you’ll pay a small fee to climb to the dome even though visiting the church itself is free.

16. From Pont Alexandre III

Eiffel tower photo from Pont Alexandre III

Pont Alexandre III is my favorite bridge in Paris! Besides being beautifully made with golden statues and street lamps, it’s one of the places to take the best photos of Eiffel Tower.

With the beautiful bridge, the Seine, and the Iron Lady in one frame, this is truly one of the best Eiffel Tower picture ideas.

17. From Various Paris Hotels

Shangri-La Paris is one of the Best Hotels with Eiffel Tower View in Paris

While this may not be for everyone since hotels with Eiffel Tower views come with a huge price tag but if budget is not a problem, you may consider staying at one of those hotels.

Some of the hotels to stay at to be able to take stunning photos of the Eiffel Tower include; Shangri-La Paris hotel in the 16th Arrondissement, Hôtel Eiffel Petit Louvre in the 15th, Hotel Le Meurice in the 1st Arrondissement, and many others.

18. From Pont Neuf

Watching a sunset is one of the best things to do in Paris on a honeymoon.

Pont Neuf is not only one of the beautiful bridges of Paris but also the best spot to take Eiffel Tower pictures.

While you can go any time, I recommend going at sunset to enjoy a colorful and beautiful sunset with the Eiffel Tower and another bridge in the background!

19. From île aux Cygnes

Eiffel tower view from Île aux Cygnes

Many people may not know this but Paris has 3 islands! The 2 natural ones, île Saint-Louis and île de la Cité , and the artificial one called île aux Cygnes in the 15th arrondissement which we’re talking about now.

île aux Cygnes is famous for having the most famous and biggest replica of the Statue of Liberty in Paris but besides this, it’s also one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots.

Unlike other places we’ve looked at before, this one is a little bit less known for those looking for Paris hidden gems .

20. From Rue Le Tasse

Still looking for where to take the best pictures of the Eiffel Tower? Then head to Rue Le Tasse .

While most people flock to Rue de l’Université making it packed almost all the time, one street that equally gives the same Eiffel Tower photo opportunities is Rue Le Tasse in the 16th arrondissement.

So if you’re looking for Eiffel Tower photo ideas where you won’t “fight” for a spot with other Instagrammers, check this one out.

Hi María, I am so excited for you that you’re coming here in June and I am glad you found the article helpful. Well, I usually go with a friend (s) and we take pictures of ourselves but a tripod is a good idea if you’re traveling alone!

Hello ! We’ll be traveling to Paris in December and I’d love to get a Christmas photo w/the Eiffel Tower. Do you have a recommendation? Thank you!

I would recommend Champs de Mars, the park where the Eiffel Tower seats.

#1 Tour Montparnasse

Buy your ticket for the observation deck here

Keen to take unique photos of the Eiffel Tower? Head to the Observation Deck on the 56th floor of Montparnasse Tower, the tallest skyscraper in Paris. This tower is situated on 33 Avenue du Maine, nearby to the Edgar Quinet metro station.

The view of the Eiffel Tower from the Montparnasse Tower is simply jaw-dropping. You’ll get to see it surrounded by the rest of the city, which truly shows off its majestic scale. It is especially beautiful when you see Paris at night .

best place to take picture eiffel tower - tour montparnasse

The best time to photograph this view is during sunset and right after it, when the Eiffel Tower lights up. As it’ll get dark quickly, you’ll need adequate photography gear, such as some great low-light lenses for the Sony a7III , to get the best evening transformation shots.

#2 Arc de Triomphe

One of the best places to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower is from the top of Arc de Triomphe. From here, you can see the 12 avenues departing in all directions from the Arc and, in the distance, the Eiffel Tower. From this vantage point, the Eiffel Tower stands out among the townhouses and tree-lined streets below. This view is particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

View on the Eiffel Tower from the Arc de Triomphe

At the time of writing, the admission fee to climb Arc de Triomphe is €12 for adults and free for children (under 18 years old). Do note the Arc de Triomphe has 284 stairs to climb, though there is an elevator for those unable to climb the stairs.

#3 Rue de l’Université

Visiting the Eiffel Tower is always a France bucket list item. For one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots, opt for Rue de l’Université.

Located to the right of the Eiffel Tower (if facing the Seine from the Eiffel Tower side), you’re only a 3-minute walk from the tower itself. This little tucked-away street dead-ends right where you see breathtaking views of the Iron Lady.

best photo spot Eiffel Tower

While this is far less crowded than the usual spots like Jardin de la Tour Eiffel or Jardins du Trocadéro, it is becoming increasingly popular thanks to many Instagram photos. So, the best way to see this outstanding viewpoint or get photos of your own would be to get here early.

Thanks Kat , for the suggestion

#4 Centre Pompidou

Thanks Kenny, for this gorgeous Eiffel Tower picture Idea!

Centre Pompidou is a world-class contemporary art museum, one of the many impressive buildings in Europe that redefine architecture . Not many visitors would know, though it is also a great spot to view the Eiffel Tower, as the building is slightly higher than its surroundings. Besides, the architecture of this museum features an outdoor escalator surrounded by glass, offering an unobstructed panoramic view.

On the 5th floor of the center, the balcony has the best view of the Eiffel Tower standing between beautiful houses, together with art pieces from great artists from Miro, Richier, and Ernst.

one of the many rooftops in Paris is a good place to take a picture of the eiffel tower, like here on the Centre Pompidou

#5 Rue de Monttessuy

Thanks for the contribution, Jenifer from The Evolista

Paris, one of the most beautiful cities in France , offers unexpected delights at every turn. Whether it’s a hidden café or a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower on a quiet street , it reminds you of why this city is so unique.

The Rue de Monttessuy is one such street that makes you feel like you are getting a special view that no one else is so lucky to see. Manage to be there right at sunset when there is a 5-minute light show, and you’ll pretty much have it all to yourself. To find it, do a search for the restaurant Au Bon Accueil , where you should definitely have a lovely dinner after the show.

best place to take picture of eiffel tower if you are looking for a street setting

#6 Pont Alexandre II

If you’re looking for spectacular photo opportunities of the Eiffel Tower, look no further than Pont Alexandre III. It is one of the most beautiful Parisian bridges and also a good location for stunning photos if you are traveling to Paris on a budget .

This picturesque bridge is not only one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris , but it also offers the perfect angle to capture Paris’ most famous landmark in all its glory. From here, you can also see the Seine River and the beautiful Haussmannian architecture of the city’s Left Bank.

Paris with the beautiful Pont Alexandre III and the Eiffel Tower in the Background

Although you can visit the bridge any time of the day, it’s particularly beautiful at sunset. If you have a telephoto lens, make sure to bring it with you!

Pont Alexandre III is between the 7th and 8th arrondissement of Paris and can easily be reached on foot from the Eiffel Tower or from the Champs-Élysées. The closest metro stations are Invalides and Champs-Élysées – Clemenceau.

#7 Pont de Bir-Hakeim

Pont de Bir-Hakeim must be one of Paris’ most underrated sights . It has a beautiful design, and it is one of the best photo spots of the Eiffel Tower, combining both the unique design elements of the bridge with Paris’ most famous icon.

The Pont de Bir Hakeim is one of the most beautiful bridges in Paris, constructed between 1903 and 1905 and made of steel. It is often used for infinity shots and for sunrise shoots with the Eiffel Tower.

Best spots to take picture of the Eiffel Tower

The steel design of the bridge works very well with the Eiffel Tower in one shot. This photo spot is especially worth visiting in the early morning during sunrise. Seeing the sun rising behind the Eiffel Tower, creates the best photo opportunities you could wish for.

#8 Galeries Lafayette Rooftop

One of the best spots in Paris for photos of the Eiffel Tower is the rooftop terrace at Galeries Lafayette . The terrace is located atop the iconic Parisian department store and offers breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower and other famous landmarks in Paris.

To get there, head to Galeries Lafayette in the 9th arrondissement and take the elevator to the 6th floor; from there, you’ll join a queue to get to the 8th floor terrace.

Top Eiffel Tower picture spot - the rooftop of the Galeries Lafayette

The terrace is open daily until 8 pm. For the best views, visit during sunset or in the evening when the tower is sparkling. During the summer, you can visit the terrace’s pop-up restaurants to enjoy dinner with a dazzling view.

#9 Trocadero

If you’re looking for the best photo spots of the most iconic monument  France is famous for  – the Eiffel Tower, Trocadero should be definitely on your list.

Trocadero is an open space tucked between the two wings of Palais de Chaillot. Because the area is elevated, Trocadero boasts an outstanding view of the gardens and an impressive fountain below, and the Iron Lady in the distance. The best photo spot is on the stairs down to the gardens. Come here at sunrise for the stunning, golden light.

Best place to photograph the Eiffel Tower: Trocadero

To get here, get off at Trocadero Metro Stop via line 6 or 9, and you’ll find the spot on your right.

#10 Rue Azaïs in Montmartre

When planning a Paris itinerary, a little-known benefit of visiting during winter is the ability to see the Eiffel Tower from as far away as Montmartre !

Tucked away from the Sacre Coeur and at rooftop level, Rue Saint-Éleuthère . The street gradually inclines, with the best spot to see the Eiffel Tower from its peak. From here, however, one of the neighbors has a sizeable television aerial mounted to their roof, which may be difficult to eliminate out of the shot.

photo tour eiffel doigt

But if you wander up around the corner to Rue Azaïs , you’ll be rewarded. With a car park and trees spanning its length, the higher elevation and position between winter’s bare trees allow for a unique perspective of the Eiffel Tower! Not surprising that this view inspired many artists and you find some of their best Paris quotes here.

#11 L’Oiseau Blanc

Put on your most fabulous outfit and dine at L’Oiseau Blanc, a fine-dining restaurant with a stellar view of the Eiffel Tower from your table. The romantic French restaurant is located on the rooftop of the luxurious Peninsula Hotel and is the perfect way to celebrate an anniversary or honeymoon with your loved one.

The Oiseau Blanc!

Make your reservation before sunset, so you can watch the Eiffel Tower change as it goes from day to night. After nightfall, you will get to see the Eiffel Tower sparkle. This happens for five minutes at the top of every hour. It’s one of the most glamorous things to add to your Paris itinerary .

contributed by Cecily from Groovy Mashed Potatoes

Voilà, the best spots to snap stunning pictures of the Eiffel Tower! Make sure you put them on your list for your next trip.

The best places to view and take photos of the Eiffel tower

Friday 18 November 2022

Modified the 20/03/24

Who hasn’t taken a photo of the Eiffel Tower when in Paris, by day or night, from wherever they happen to be in the city? It might have been just a shot of the top or a small section of the structure visible from a window of a Parisian apartment or street corner… There's a good reason why the Eiffel Tower is one of the most “Instagramed” monuments in the world: it is a symbol of Paris and, at over 1,000 feet tall, its unique, slender silhouette is visible from all parts of the city, as well as from many raised spots in the surrounding region.

We've put together a selection of top locations from which to take the best souvenir photos of the Iron Lady.

Near the Tower

In the vicinity of the Tower itself, the Champ-de-Mars and the Trocadéro esplanade are the most obvious places from which to get an incredible view of the Tower, especially in clear weather, at sunrise or sunset. These places are also perfect for relaxing or taking a stroll.

The Eiffel Tower seen from the Trocadéro

If you want the Seine to feature in the foreground, head to Bir-Hakeim Bridge , where you’ll find the France Renaissante statue. Recently renovated, Bir-Hakeim Bridge now shimmers with stunning silver tones. It forms a perfect duo with the Eiffel Tower in the background. If you’re planning to walk along the banks of the Seine (particularly on the right bank), you’ll discover plenty of fabulous viewpoints from the embankments and bridges (from Issy les Moulineaux to the Alexandre III bridge).

See if you can find any undiscovered viewpoints! The 7th, 15th and 16th arrondissements are filled with streets offering interesting views of the Tower. One of the most striking examples is Rue Saint-Dominique , which showcases the Tower’s slim silhouette. The less well-known Avenue de Camoens and Rue Le Tasse in the 16th arrondissement, near the Trocadéro, offer exceptional views of the Tower’s structure, which brilliantly complements the lines of the surrounding buildings. An absolute treat for fans of Parisian urban architecture!

View of the Eiffel Tower from the Trocadéro

Raised spots

On the Right Bank, the ideal place from which to photograph the Eiffel Tower from a height is undoubtedly the Arc de Triomphe . A visit of this amazing structure is definitely a must and you can take the opportunity to capture the view of the Eiffel Tower from the terrace at the top.

On the Left Bank, to the south of the Tower, our great neighbor the Montparnasse Tower offers one of the most stunning and breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower from its 656-foot-high panoramic observatory. This viewpoint is very popular with photographers, particularly in the evening when the monument's metal surface gleams in the rays of the setting sun.

Other tall Parisian monuments from which you can take photos include the Saint-Jacques Tower , near Chatelet, and the dome of the Pantheon, in the 5th arrondissement, when it is open to visitors. Their historical and architectural importance make them Parisian must-sees in their own right, but they also offer exceptional views of the city and the Eiffel Tower in particular!

The Eiffel Tower by moonlight

Belvederes with breathtaking vistas of Paris

The Eiffel Tower can be seen from a distance of between 35 and 50 miles from Paris, depending on the weather and air quality. If you have a camera with a good zoom and are looking for a challenge, the Tower is a great subject, even from a considerable distance, as long as you’re shooting from an elevated position. Some of the best high spots from which to capture the Eiffel Tower with the rest of Paris are, of course, the dome of the Sacré Cœur Basilica on Montmartre hill and the belvedere in Belleville Park , in the 20th arrondissement.

Around Paris and outside the capital itself, there may be other exceptional raised locations near you that are worth including on your list of favorite outings. Get ready to go searching for the best viewpoints and make your choice according to the terrain, urban layout and vegetation. To begin with, consider Argenteuil and the Parisis natural region to the north-west of Paris, home to two hills (Orgemont and Châtaigniers) and offering pleasant green spaces and an exceptional panoramic view of the Seine Valley. To the west, go to Mont Valérien (a place of national remembrance) in Suresnes and the Saint-Cloud Park.

Further to the south, a visit to the park and terrace of the Meudon Observatory and its surrounding area is a must. Follow the course of the Seine with your eye and you’ll spot the Eiffel Tower! To the north-east, Jean Moulin Park in Bagnolet-Montreuil offers a magnificent panoramic view of the whole of Paris and the Eiffel Tower which, although far away, remains a proud fixture in the landscape.

I’ve seen the Eiffel Tower countless times (and taken just as many photos) but my jaw still drops every time I see it. I love how the iron lady can pop up when you least expect it: around a corner, between streets or on your metro ride. It offers the prettiest views when walking around Paris.

Despite my obsession with the Eiffel Tower, there are some Eiffel Tower photo spots that stand out from the rest. Continue reading for a full list, including both classic and more secret Eiffel Tower photo spots.

The Eiffel Tower is located in the 7th arrondissement, in southwestern Paris. The Eiffel Tower area has the river Seine on one side, and the big park Champ de Mars on the other side. Many of the Eiffel Tower photography locations included in this blog post are located in the 7th, 8th or 16th arrondissements. These are the areas surrounding the Eiffel Tower, and where you’ll get the best Eiffel Tower views.

I’ll include a map for you to get an overview of the photo spots.

The Eiffel Tower is one of the most popular photo spots in Paris, which means it can be crowded and challenging to photograph. Here are some tips on how to take good pictures of the Eiffel Tower:

  • Different angles and perspectives: The Eiffel Tower can be photographed from countless angles and perspectives. Try shooting from directly below to capture its intricate metalwork or from afar to get the entire structure in the frame.
  • Time of day: Lighting plays a key role in photography, and the Eiffel Tower is no exception. Sunrise and sunset provide the best natural lighting, creating a beautiful, soft glow on the tower.
  • Avoid the crowds: Speaking of sunrise… The earlier you get to a place, the greater your chance of having it all to yourself. This will probably make the biggest difference to your Eiffel Tower photo. Try 6 am if you have the energy.

Below you’ll find a list of the 10 best Eiffel Tower photo spots, including how to get there. Let’s dive in!

Enjoy the greatest view of the Eiffel Tower from Place du Trocadero. Even though this square is very popular among tourists, it’s still the best place for impressive Eiffel Tower photos.

Due to its popularity it can be hard to photograph the Eiffel Tower without other people disturbing your picture, but it’s not impossible. My best tips for a people-free picture is to go there early, preferably during sunrise. Besides being the least crowded time of the day, you also get to see the sun coming up from the perfect angle.

Place du Trocadero offers many photogenic angles. Here are my favorites:

  • The main square
  • The staircase leading down to Trocadéro Gardens
  • The carousel down by Avenue des Nations Unies ( see it on Google Maps here! )

Closest metro station: Trocadéro (line 6 or 9)

photo tour eiffel doigt

A stunning view from Pont d’Iéna.

2. Pont d’Iéna

Not far from Trocadéro you find Pont d’Iéna, the bridge crossing river Seine that connects the Trocadéro Gardens with the Eiffel Tower and Champ de Mars park. From Pont d’Iéna you have the Eiffel Tower right in front of you, and can get a soft-looking photo with the Eiffel Tower blurred in the background. For an even more dramatic look you should come here in the evening to see the tower sparkle.

Closest metro station: Trocadéro (line 6 or 9), Iéna (line 9) or Champ de Mars Tour Eiffel (RER C)

photo tour eiffel doigt

The view from Avenue de Cameons.

Just a short walk from Place du Trocadero lies Avenue de Cameons, a small but very Parisian street with a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. This street has become Instagram-famous lately, and I understand why. The silence, the beautiful buildings, the balconies facing the Eiffel Tower and the stairs leading down to Boulevard Delessert.

Due to the Instagram trend, you can not count on being alone here (you can nowhere in Paris). When I was at Avenue de Cameons there were a few other couples taking photos, but it wasn’t crowded. If you want a better chance at being alone, go there early in the morning.

Rue Saint-Dominique offers glimpses of the Eiffel Tower throughout the whole street.

Rue Saint-Dominique is a very long street from where you, at certain parts, have a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower. I suggest you go to the corner of Rue Saint-Dominique – Rue Surcouf, where the cute café Au Canon des Invalides is located. From here you have the Eiffel Tower at a perfect angle at the end of the street.

Rue Saint-Dominique is a busy street, with lots of restaurants, shops, traffic and people. Getting a perfectly balanced photo, with not too many cars or other people, can be hard. My best tip is to be patient and wait for the right moment.

Bonus tip: Don’t go here in the evening/during sunset! You risk getting a troublesome backlight that complicates your photo session.

Closest metro station: La Tour-Maubourg (line 8)

photo tour eiffel doigt

Square Rapp offers a secret view of the Eiffel Tower.

Square Rapp is a small dead-end street in the 7th arrondissement, just off Avenue Rapp. It does not look like much to the world when you pass it, but when you stand in the square and turn around, you get a magnificent view of the Eiffel Tower.

This is kind of a secret spot to view the Eiffel Tower from. It’s quiet and basically tourist-free. That being said, as this is a residential area of Paris, be respectful and don’t disturb the people living there.

Closest metro station: École Militaire (line 8) or Pont de l’Alma (RER C)

photo tour eiffel doigt

The Eiffel Tower view from Champ de Mars, the big park next to the iron lady.

Champ de Mars is the big garden where the Eiffel Tower is located. From this garden you have an impressive view of the Eiffel Tower – almost as impressive as from Trocadéro or Pont d’Iéna.

Champ de Mars is a popular spot for a picnic, which is also a great photo opportunity. Bring a picnic basket and make a day out of it!

Closest metro station: École Militaire (line 8)

photo tour eiffel doigt

The view from Bir Hakeim bridge.

7. Bir-Hakeim bridge

Bir-Hakeim bridge crosses the Seine river and connects the 15th and 16th arrondissement. If you cross the bridge by foot, you will encounter some fantastic photo options. The bridge posts create a beautiful frame around the Eiffel Tower. A unique Eiffel Tower photo spot, to say the least!

Closest metro station: Bir Hakeim or Passy (line 6)

photo tour eiffel doigt

Arc de Triomphe offers a great view of the Eiffel Tower and the surrounding Parisian rooftops.

If you want a great view of the Parisian skyline, with the Eiffel Tower included, you should head up to the top of Arc de Triomphe. You won’t find an elevator here, only stairs – and a lot of them. But it’s worth it! From the top to get an epic view of the Eiffel Tower, among the many characteristic Parisian rooftops.

The tickets to Arc de Triomphe upper deck are free of charge if you are an EU resident under 26 years old, otherwise you’ll have to pay 13 €.

photo tour eiffel doigt

Enjoy a sunset drink at Perruche rooftop restaurant.

If you want to combine a great view of the Eiffel Tower with a drink, then I suggest you go to Perruche rooftop restaurant . Perruche is located on the top floor of the Printemps department store in the 9th arrondissement. You can come for dinner or just a pre-dinner drink and enjoy a view of the entire city, including the majestic Eiffel Tower.

Closest metro station: Havre – Caumartin (line 3 and 9)

photo tour eiffel doigt

Rue de l’Université is a popular spot for photographing the Eiffel Tower.

10. Rue de l’Université

Okay, so I strategically put this photo spot as my last tip. If you’ve researched Eiffel Tower photo spots on Instagram, you probably haven’t missed Rue de l’Université. The street is indeed very cute, and offers an impressive view of the Eiffel Tower. However, due to its popularity on Instagram, this street is now filled with tourists trying to snap that perfect Instagram photo.

Yes, the street has the Parisian charm with the cobblestones and beautiful architecture. But due to its popularity it’s hard to get a photo without other people. If you want to give it a try you should get there early in the morning.

Closest metro station: Pont de l’Alma (RER C)

When does the Eiffel Tower sparkle?

Want to take photos of the Eiffel Tower at night? The Eiffel Tower sparkles every evening after dusk for 5 minutes. It starts at the beginning of each hour. The last sparkle occurs at 11 pm, and the Eiffel Tower lighting is switched off completely at 11.45 pm.

Since the sun sets at different times throughout the year, the Eiffel Tower lights time differs depending on the season. The lights are triggered automatically by nightfall sensors. Make sure to check at what time the sun sets so you know when the first sparkle occurs.

Where to stay near the Eiffel Tower?

Waking up to the view of the Eiffel Tower is something many people dream of. Here are two great accommodation options with Eiffel Tower view.

Hotel recommendations near the Eiffel Tower:

  • Hotel Duquesne Eiffel
  • Jardins Eiffel

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots #1 – Pont de Bir Hakeim Bridge

Pont de Bir Hakeim Bridge

This is one of the most popular Eiffel Tower views and photo spots and for a good reason! I would even dare say one of the best Eiffel Tower photo spots. The Pont de Bir Hakeim Bridge provides a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower with the Seine River in the background. You can get a great view of the tower in the background. I suggest getting there early to avoid the crowds and to photograph the Eiffel tower without people in them.

Personally, the best time of the day to take photos from Bir Hakeim Bridge is later in the afternoon around sunset to get the best photos. Each time I’ve seen around then, there are barely any people there making it a great spot to take photos. The Pont de Bir Hakeim Bridge is one of my favorite places to take Eiffel Tower photos and has such Parisian charm.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots #2 – Trocadero Gardens

The Trocadero Gardens are located in front of the Palais de Chaillot. This is a great spot to get a photo of the Eiffel Tower because you can get a full view of it from the observation deck. I also love how there are trees in the Trocadero Gardens which make for a lovely backdrop in photos. However, be careful as this can be quite a busy spot during the day. This can be a great place to get a photo of the Eiffel tower at night. This is probably one of the most popular Eiffel tower photo spot shown on social media.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 3 – Top of the ARC de Triomphe

Top of the ARC de Triomphe

If you want an Eiffel Tower photo with a birds-eye view, then you’ll want to go to the top of the ARC de Triomphe. From here, you can see the entire city and get a great photo of the Eiffel Tower view in the distance. ARC de Triomphe is one of the top photo spots in Paris. I recommend going early in the morning or right before sunset to avoid the crowds and to get the best light.

Keep in mind that you will need to climb stairs to get to the top of the ARC de Triomphe. If you aren’t in good shape, I don’t suggest going as it’s quite narrow and you will only be able to go up. This is one of my favorite photo spots to get an entire view of Paris and photograph the Eiffel Tower. It’s definitely worth the trek.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 4 – Debilly Footbridge

Debilly Footbridge

The Debilly Footbridge is one of the most beautiful photo spots that provide a great Eiffel Tower photo opportunity. I love how you can see the Eiffel Tower in the background with the Seine river and trees framing it. This is a great place to take photos during sunset or get a photo of the Eiffel Tower at night. It’s a great location to take pictures of the Eiffel Tower and I found it to be not so crowded during the evening even in the busiest months. It’s a great place to photograph around the Eiffel Tower.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 5 – Port Debilly

Eiffel Tower Photo Spots - Port Debilly

If you continue walking around, you’ll find Port Debilly. This Eiffel Tower photo spot is located near the Eiffel tower and provides a great view of it. From here you can have an incredible view along the Seine river and enjoy a meal while watching the boats pass by and you’ll see many people enjoying a river cruise. The views of the Eiffel tower can be seen by many locals here who wait for the sun to set. It’s quite shaded during the evening making it a great place to cool off. It’s a good spot to take a photo of the Eiffel Tower at night.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 6 – Castel Café

Eiffel Tower Photo Spots - Castel Cafe

From the road at Castel Cafe, you can get a great Eiffel Tower photo. This is a great place to take an Eiffel Tower selfie as there are not many people around. I recommend going in the morning or at night for the best photos without people. The Eiffel Tower is so close to this cafe, which makes it one of my favorite places to take photos. I’ve always visited in the evening and felt like it was also less popular place to take photos of the Eiffel tower than some other alleys’ that are recommended.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 7 – Champ de Mars

The Champ de Mars is a large public park located near the Eiffel Tower. This is a great spot to take photos of the Eiffel Tower because you can get a close-up view of it. I also love how there are trees in the park which make for a lovely backdrop in photos. However, be careful as this can be quite a busy spot during the day. Champ De Mars is a great place to have a picnic and many people will sell you bottles of wine or beer while you wait to see the views of the Eiffel tower at night.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 8 – Montparnasse Tower

The Montparnasse Tower is a great Eiffel Tower photo spot because it provides a panoramic view of the city. From here you can see the Eiffel Tower in the distance and get a great photo of it. It is an observation tower that requires tickets. It’s most popular among photographers to visit during sunset.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 9 – Pont d’Iéna

Pont d’Iéna is probably one of the most popular photo spots to take Eiffel tower photos in Paris. I added this into the post, although I don’t find it to be one of the best spots. It’s quite crowded and it can be difficult to get a good photo. You’ll see a lot of people walking into the middle to take their photos which I find can be rude and dangerous. However, at Pont d’Iéna you can get some from the sidewalk, and just walk along as needed.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 10 – Rue Saint Dominique

Rue Saint Dominique was included because it’s recommended by many. I found the Eiffel Tower to be too far away from this street. However, Rue Saint Dominique is a nice street with cafes like Café Le Recrutement and restaurants. You can get take pictures of the Eiffel Tower in Paris if you walk down to the end of the street. Rue Saint Dominique is a great place for dinner and view the Eiffel Tower. Café Le Recrutement Parisian Charm is one the reasons it’s one of the most photographed cafes in Paris.

Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 11 – Rue de l’Université

The Rue de l’Université is one of the popular Eiffel Tower photo spots that are quite near. From here you can have an incredible view along the Seine river and enjoy a meal while watching the boats pass by. The views of the Eiffel tower in Paris can be seen by many locals here who wait for the sun to set. It’s quite shaded during the evening making it a great place to cool off.

Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 12 – Galeries Lafayette

Now, this actually doesn’t really have a great view of the Eiffel Tower in Paris, but it has a great view of the entire city. The Eiffel Tower or Tour Eiffel is actually too far and barely visible from this point. Galeries Lafayette, however, has some of the best views around Paris that are free to the public and at the top of a department store. This is one of the most Instagrammable places in Paris.

Eiffel Tower Photo Spots # 13 – Avenue de Camoens

Avenue de Camoens is a great Eiffel Tower photo spot because you can get a close-up view of the tower. It’s a less-known spot to get photos of the Eiffel tower and it’s a great location. There are trees that make for a lovely backdrop for your pictures of the Eiffel tower. You can see some classic views of the beautiful Parisian architecture.

10 Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots in Paris

10 Best Eiffel Tower Photo Spots in Paris

There are many places for a photoshoot with the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The possibilities are endless when it comes to the best spots to photograph Eiffel Tower.

In this post I only included 10 best Eiffel Tower photo spots, but there are way more opportunities out there, so don’t be afraid to experiment a little bit.

Even if you’re coming to Paris to see the Eiffel Tower, I actually recommend staying in other neighborhoods as they’re way more vibrant. If you’re looking for other photo spots in Paris you can check them out in this post .

1. Standard Eiffel Tower photo spot: Trocadero

You must have seen these types of shots million times. There will always be people in your shot in the background unless you’re shooting from the lower angle.

2. “The Parisian” shot:  Cafe Le Recrutament

Postcard shot with an Eiffel Tower and French cafe that became instagram famous. Remember this is actually a busy street, so while you can see many people standing on the street if you go mid-day this won’t be possible, or polite, as you’d block the traffic.

3. Popular location: From Rue de l’Université

It’s a dead-end street that shows the Eiffel Tower almost in full. It’s less busy than top spots, but still popular so go early or late at night. Personally, it’s not my favorite spot as it cuts out the top of the tower, but you can judge for yourself.

4. Lesser-known angle (perfect for proposals): Avenue de Camoens

This spot is a bit harder to find, so won’t many tourists will get there. If you’re planning a proposal or engagement shoot, that’s the best place to do it.

5. From the Bridge: Pont de Bir-Hakeim

This bridge offers an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower and the location is not busy at all, ever! Even in the middle of the day on a Saturday.

6. With some Greenery: Champs de Mars

Champs de Mars is being constantly closed off because people are overusing the grass, but you can always find a cute spot for a photo.

7. Carousel: Trocadero Carousel

There are so many carousels in Paris to choose from, but the one in Trocadero offers awesome views of the Eiffel Tower. Owners are very used to people taking creating shots so once you pay for the ride you can also hang out when the carousel is not moving, as long as there’s no one else waiting for the ride.

8. Sunset option: Montparnasse Tower

Montparnasse is an observation tower that offers great views for sunset. It does require tickets, but it’s surely worth it. If you’re trying to photograph the sunset, be there about an hour earlier as many other photographers set up their tripods.

9. Rooftops: AirBnBs

10. From another landmark: The Arc de Triomphe

If you’re planning on visiting other landmarks, check out the view from the Arc de Triomphe. It’s a perfect sunset shot of the Eiffel Tower.

The Best Places to take Photos with the Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower in Paris

02 Sep The Best Places to take Photos with the Eiffel Tower

The Eiffel Tower is the most famous landmark in Paris! Nicknamed the “Iron Lady”, it was built from 1887 to 1889 to be the entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair. Since then, the Eiffel Tower has become an iconic symbol of Paris and France , and everyone loves it! As a Parisian photographer, I know the best places to take photos with the Eiffel Tower . After years of chasing all the Instagram photos spots with the Iron Lady , I gathered quite a lot of options! Therefore, I have made for you a list of all the best places to capture the Eiffel Tower with their exact location and my photography tips .

Table of Contents

Esplanade du Trocadéro

Esplanade du Trocadéro with the Eiffel Tower

The Esplanade du Trocadéro (aka Parvis de Droits de l’Homme) is a large public square located in the 16 th arrondissement across the Seine and in front of the Eiffel Tower. It’s located on a hill (arranged for the 1867 World’s Fair) so it offers an unbeatable view on the Iron Lady . Therefore, it’s one of the best places to capture the Eiffel Tower! People from all over the world come here to admire it!

It has been under renovation from May 2020 until Dec 2022 and it’s now fully accessible! But FYI you cannot sit or stand on the ledge anymore. They added some pointy stones at the top of all the ledge parts and the staircases to prevent people from sitting or standing there.

Location : Esplanade du Trocadéro

My secret tips: Thi s place is very popular and extremely touristy. So, if you want to take good photos here, I highly recommend coming at sunrise . The earlier you arrive in the morning, the less people you will see.

On a side note you really have to pay attention to your belongings here! Because it’s touristy, there are many thieves in this area. Please keep this in mind when you walk around and when you take your photos. Do not let any of your bags unattended.

The Stairs in Trocadéro

The stairs in Trocadéro with the Eiffel Tower

From the large Esplanade du Trocadéro, you can go down a series of stairs to get closer to the Eiffel Tower. There are 2 staircases: one on the right side and one on the left side . These stairs create a great photo spot with the Eiffel Tower and that’s why you can see them all over Instagram!

These staircases were under renovation from May 2020 until Dec 2022 and they are now fully accessible! But FYI you cannot sit or stand on the staircase ledge anymore. They added some pointy stones at the top to prevent people from sitting or standing there.

Location :  Trocadéro Stairs

My secret tips: like the Esplanade du Trocadero, this place is popular and touristy. So, it’s always better if you arrive here in the morning . But it’s still possible to take some good photos during the day/ in the evening if you are patient. Usually, people do not stay too long here, so you can just wait until someone leaves to get a spot to take a photo with the Eiffel Tower!  And again, pay attention to your belongings!

Trocadéro Gardens

Trocadéro gardens with the Eiffel Tower

Once you have come down the stairs you will arrive in Trocadero gardens ( Jardins du Trocadéro ). You will find two green spaces on both sides and a large fountain in the middle. The fountain is usually full of water in summer and empty in winter.

These beautiful gardens are especially interesting in spring! In April you have some pretty pink cherry blossoms. The gardens at this time of the year are at the top of the most instagrammable places with the Eiffel Tower! And then in May you have paulownia trees blooming some purple flowers all along the right and left alleys: it’s magical! There are also a few chestnut trees offering some red blooms at the same time. You will find more info about the exact dates of the blooms in my article about spring in Paris .

There used to be a carousel at the end of the right side of the gardens, which was one of the best Eiffel Tower Instagram photo spots. but it has been removed since the pandemic. Hopefully they will put it back once tourism is “back to some kind of normal”.

Location :  Trocadéro Gardens

My secret tips: I recommend you take your photos here in the morning to avoid the crowd. It gets more complicated in the afternoon and evening.

Rue de l’Université

Rue de l'Université with the Eiffel Tower

Rue de l’Université in the 7 th arrondissement is one of the prettiest streets in Paris! Not only the buildings here have the typical Haussmannian architecture , but they have a direct view on the Iron Lady! It’s very picturesque and of course one of the best places to take photos with the Eiffel Tower!

Because of the trees, the ambiance in the street changes a lot depending on the seasons. In winter because the branches of the trees don’t wear leaves, you can see the Eiffel Tower better. But the trees with their leaves provide a nice environment around it in the other seasons!

Location :  Rue de l’Université

My secret tips:  Because this street offers such a fantastic perspective of the Eiffel Tower, it’s very popular amongst tourists and photographers. Also it’s very close to the entrance of the Eiffel Tower for the visitors, so there is always some pedestrian traffic all day long. You should see less people here early in the morning . But it’s possible to take a photo during the day if you are patient.

Pont d’Iéna

Pont d'Iéna with the Eiffel Tower

Pont d’Iéna is the bridge located right in front of the Eiffel Tower . Therefore, you will easily understand why it’s part of the best places to capture the Eiffel Tower! You can take your photos on each side of the bridge, and it looks quite stunning!

Location : Pont d’Iéna

My secret tips:  because of its location at the feet of the Eiffel Tower, a lot of people are walking on this bridge during the day. Coming in the morning will ensure you to have better photos. Especially if you want to take your photos from the middle of the bridge, you have to come here as early as possible at sunrise . Many cars are driving here, so I encourage you to be very careful and not take any risks!

Below Pont d’Iéna on the left side

Below Pont d’Iéna on the left side with the Eiffel Tower

If you go down the bridge Pont d’Iéna on the left side to access the quais de Seine , you will find a great viewpoint of the Eiffel Tower and the river. There is a staircase to allow you to go below the bridge a bit further from the bridge itself on that left side. It’s one of my favorite places to take picnic photos with the Eiffel Tower and the Seine in the background!

Location : Below Pont d’Iéna on the left side

My secret tips: this place is rather empty during the day so you can come whenever you want. But it can get busy at sunset as it’s a good viewpoint of the Eiffel Tower. That’s why I also recommend you come here if you want to see it sparkling in the evening!

Below Pont d’Iéna on the right side

Below Pont d’Iéna on the right side with the Eiffel Tower

You can also go down the bridge Pont d’Iéna on the right side. The stairs are very close to the bridge itself on that side. Here you can take some photos from two good perspectives : one is between the bridge and a boat, and the second one a bit further on the right side on the quais de Seine. This spot is also a very good one for picnic photos !

Location :  Below Pont d’Iéna on the right side

My secret tips: this place is usually empty so you can come here easily at any time of the day to take photos with the Eiffel Tower. Like the other side, it’s a perfect spot to see it sparkling in the evening!

Avenue de New York

Avenue de New York with the Eiffel Tower

Avenue de New York is the perpendicular avenue of Pont d’Iena. It offers a great unobstructed view of the Iron Lady and therefore it’s highly appreciated by photographers! Instagram influencers especially love to capture this spot with the sign “Avenue de New York” : it’s one of the most instagrammable places with Eiffel Tower view!

Location :  Avenue de New York

My secret tips:  except at the end of the day when the Eiffel Tower is sparkling, people are usually not dwelling in that spot. So, it’s pretty easy to take some photos here at any time of the day.

Pont de Bir Hakeim

Pont de Bir Hakeim with the Eiffel Tower

The bridge Pont de Bir Hakeim is one of the most stunning bridges in Paris! This explains why it is one of the best places to take photos of the Eiffel Tower! It’s so picturesque that it was featured in many movies – like the famous Inception with Leonardo Di Caprio .

This steel bridge was built at the beginning of the 20 th century at the northern tip of the Île aux Cygnes, a small artificial island on the river Seine. It has 2 levels: the first one is for cars, bikes, and pedestrians, and the second one at the top is for the metro.

The bridge of Bir Hakeim offers many different perspectives, this is what makes it even more interesting for photographers!

Location :  Pont de Bir Hakeim

My secret tips:  this bridge is highly appreciated by photographers and videographers, so you might not be alone enjoying its beautiful views on the Eiffel Tower. Nevertheless, you can try at different times of the day, if you are patient you will manage to get your beautiful photos with the Eiffel Tower!

Avenue de Camoëns

Avenue de Camoëns with the Eiffel Tower

Avenue de Camoëns is a little street located not far from Trocadero. It features a staircase at the end of it with a balcony . This is one of the best views of the Eiffel Tower in Paris! Here you can take some photos at the balcony, but also in the stairs. Additionally, you can admire a beautiful door with intricate details on the right side.

Location : Avenue de Camoëns

My secret tips: This is a very popular spot amongst photographers would it be for personal but also professional photoshoots. So, you might not be the only one around here: be patient. Nevertheless, you can come here at any time of the day.

Champ de Mars

Champ de Mars with the Eiffel Tower

The Champ de Mars is the big park at the feet at the Eiffel Tower . Its 243 hectares offer a privileged position to look at the Iron Lady! That’s one of the reasons why it’s one of the best places to take photos of the Eiffel! It’s also one of the best parks and gardens in Paris ! It’s a nice place for a walk and for a picnic.

Location :  Champ de Mars

My secret tips: this park of the Champ de Mars is very popular amongst tourists all year long and amongst locals in summer for picnics. So I recommend you come here in the morning if you want to take some photos without too many people. Nevertheless, the light here is better at sunset, so if you don’t mind some people in the background, you can come later in the day!

Café Le Recrutement

Le Recrutement Café with the Eiffel Tower

Café le Recrutement has become one of these most instagrammable places with the Eiffel Tower since a few years! People love to capture it, because this Café is located in rue Saint Dominique with a direct view of the Eiffel Tower. With its red façade and typical Parisian look , it’s really picturesque!

Location :  Le Recrutement Café

My secret tips:  You can come here at any time of the day to take some photos. Just pay attention to the traffic.

Café Au Canon des Invalides

Au Canon des Invalides Café with the Eiffel Tower

The Café Au Canon des Invalides is located not far from Café le Recrutement. It’s also located in Rue Saint Dominique , so it has the same amazing view of the Eiffel Tower! The façade of this Parisian café is white and it’s super photogenic!

Location :  Café Au Canon des Invalides

My secret tips: You can come here at any time of the day to take some photos.

Passerelle Debilly

Passerelle Debilly with the Eiffel Tower

Passerelle Debilly is a pedestrian bridge over the Seine located between Palais de Tokyo and Quai Branly Museum. This metallic through arch bridge is not so famous (hence never busy), but it offers one of the best Eiffel Tower views! Two good reasons to check it out!

Location : Passerelle Debilly

My secret tips: this bridge is not too touristy so you can come here at any time of the day. But FYI the light is better at sunset . It’s a great spot to see the Eiffel Tower sparkling!

Port Debilly

Port Debilly with the Eiffel Tower

Port Debilly is the name of one of the “ Quais de Seine ” and it’s located between the Pont d’Iéna and the Pont de Bir Hakeim. It offers a pretty nice view of the Eiffel Tower!

This spot is a hidden gem because not many people know about it. Port Debilly is especially interesting in April/May with the wisteria , it’s one of the most photogenic places in Paris in spring !

Location :  Port Debilly

My secret tips: this spot is really quiet so you can easily come here whenever you want to take some photos. FYI there is sometimes a car or a bike parked along the banks so you might have to deal with it.

Pont Alexandre III

Pont Alexandre III with the Eiffel Tower

Pont Alexandre III is one of the most famous and iconic bridges in Paris. And of course it’s also one of the most instagrammable places in Paris ! This elegant bridge with Art Nouveau Style was built for the World’s Fair of 1900. It was classified as a “ Monument Historique ” in 1975. Additionally Pont Alexandre III offers a great view on the Iron Lady, although further from the other spots listed before. That’s why I didn’t hesitate to add it to the list of the best places to take photos with the Eiffel Tower

Location :  Pont Alexandre III

My secret tips: Pont Alexandre III is quite accessible all day long. The best moment of the day is to take pictures here is at sunset . You will probably see a few photoshoots at that time of the day, but it’s always possible to take some great pictures!

Square Rapp

Square Rapp with the Eiffel Tower

Square Rapp is a hidden gem in Paris! This little alley located in the 7th arrondissement is surrounded by beautiful Art Deco and Art Nouveau buildings . It also offers a very interesting view of the Eiffel Tower!

Location :  Square Rapp

My secret tips: Square Rapp is very quiet, you can come here whenever you want. Please respect the inhabitants of the area!

Rue de Monttessuy

Rue de Monttessuy with the Eiffel Tower

Rue de Monttessuy is one of the streets of the 7th arrondissement with an Eiffel Tower view. It’s maybe not the most picturesque of the area BUT if you are looking for a less popular place to take photos of the Eiffel Tower, it will be a good option!

There is a flower shop at the beginning of the street named L’Howea, in case you need some flowers for your photos 🙂 . It’s apparently be the most expensive one of the neighborhood, but it has beautiful flowers!

Location :  rue de Monttessuy

My secret tips: you can come to rue de Monttessuy at any time of the day. It’s not really a famous instagrammable spot, so you won’t be bothered by other photographers or tourists. You will just have to pay attention to the traffic.

Eiffel Tower – Part 1

Eiffel tower photo session.

Planning a photo session at the Eiffel Tower, well… you should not miss the Trocadero area ! This area is the #1 location for photos at the Eiffel Tower ! Located on a hill across the Seine river from the Eiffel Tower, this “wow” location provides a great view for your Eiffel Tower photo session. First a little overview of photos:

eiffel tower photo session

BEST LOCATIONS for photos at the Trocadero Eiffel Tower :

Trocadero square.

The Trocadero Square is located on a hill. It is a stunning location for your Eiffel Tower photo session because of the great views it provides!

Depending on the angle, it will look that you’re just on a rooftop overlooking the Eiffel Tower, with only you 2 and the Iron Lady in the background.

best location eiffel tower trocadero

Trocadero stairs

Trocadero stairs are very close to the main square, less than 2 min by walking distance. These are also great spots to use for your Eiffel Tower photo session, and are quite popular for pictures.

best locations eiffel tower stairs

Eiffel Tower Fountain

Go down the Trocadero stairs and you’ll reach the Eiffel Tower fountain. It is located right in the middle of the Eiffel Tower gardens. So this photo shoot location provides a central view on the Eiffel Tower. If there is water in the fountain and large basin, it is also great spot to use the reflections for your Eiffel Tower photo session.

Eiffel Tower Gardens

The gardens spread out to both sides of the Eiffel Tower fountain. With its lawns, trees and flowers it is a beautiful location for your photo session at the Eiffel Tower. You can choose a more secluded and private spot in the Eiffel Tower gardens. Or you can shoot on the lawn with an open view on the Eiffel Tower. Also little paths, romantic benches and a vintage carousel are in the area – we love to use them for photo shoots in Paris.

BEST TIME for your photo session at the Eiffel Tower :

Sunrise: YES The absolute best time to schedule your Eiffel Tower photo session at Trocadero place is sunrise. Because Trocadero place is one of the most popular locations for photo shoots at the Eiffel Tower. So many couples and their photographers as well as visitors and tourists start coming here already pretty early in the day.

Morning : YES If you miss sunrise, early morning still woks at Trocadero place for your photoshoot at the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower gardens and fountain are less busy, so as your photographers in Paris we usually shoot there after Trocadero place.

Afternoon, evening & sunset : NO As your local Paris photographer we don’t recommend shooting in the Trocadero area in the afternoon, evening or at sunset. By that time the area will be extremely busy and very crowded.

OUR TOP-TIP : Always start your photo session at Trocadero Place. All other Paris photoshoot locations you choose can wait.

BEST SEASON for your photoshoot at Trocadero :

Spring : YES We especially love spring in Trocadero gardens when the cherry blossom trees are blooming and also flowers and other trees start blossoming.

Summer : YES Don’t miss Trocadero fountains in summer, it’s the only time of year when you may see them shoot water.

Autumn: YES The gardens are beautiful during autumn foliage when the trees are changing color. As your English speaking photographers we love to shoot here in fall.

Winter : YES In winter you get the most stunning sunrises on Trocadero place – and it is not as busy as during peak travel season.

best location propose eiffel tower

BEST TYPE of photo session at the Trocadero :

Engagement photo session & couple photo shoot : YES The entire Trocadero area is a must for your romantic Paris engagement photo session at the Eiffel Tower as well as for your Paris couple photo shoot.

Surprise proposal : YES Trocadero place is a stunning location for your Paris surprise proposal . However it is very quiet and intimate. So if you would like to enjoy more privacy for your Paris surprise proposal, as your local photographers in Paris we would rather recommend to propose in the Eiffel Tower gardens or to choose another Eiffel Tower photoshoot locations .

Family photo session : YES The entire Trocadero area is great for your Paris family photo session at the Eiffel Tower. We especially love the balconies and stairs for your Eiffel Tower family photo shoot as these spots allow a playful approach for your family photo session – kids love it there!

Paris Elopement / Wedding : YES Trocadero place is a great Eiffel Tower photo shoot location for your wedding or Paris Elopement . However this location is too busy and exposed for your Eiffel Tower elopement ceremony with your Paris celebran t . You should rather get married at the Eiffel Tower in the gardens, at the fountain or at another Eiffel Tower photoshoot locations .

Solo photo session : YES The entire Trocadero area works well for any kind of solo photo session: Paris Quinceanera photoshoot, Paris blogger or fashion photo session, personal branding and so much more…
