If you go to the beach in rainy season, it is good to have cafes, restaurants, and your resort/hotel to retreat to when the rain comes. Seminyak has all of these, being the best beach resort area in Bali . It's also great for night life, better enjoyed in this hotter time of year.

There are plenty of things to do around the beach when the weather allows: swimming in permitted areas , surfing — beginners' at Petitenget, intermediate at Seminyak Beach, advanced at Echo Beach, sunset watching , and even horse riding .

2. The Jatiluwih Rice Terraces for Mirror-Like Tiers

November could be a good month to visit the World Heritage rice terraces at Jatiluwih, as they will begin to fill up with water after the first of the wet season rains. The coils of reflecting fields in the sunlight of the southern hemisphere summer are a sight to behold by mid-November . Palm trees and jungle on the mountainside provide shade and fresh greenery in the scenery.

The only November drawback for terraced field exploration is that paths become muddy after rain. Wear good walking footwear. The roads out from Ubud should still be in ok condition for the 2-hour journey in November.

3. Learn Balinese Cooking and Culture in Ubud

For rainy days you'll need some activities that will be less/un-affected by the weather. Ubud is the cultural capital of Bali with its art market and Royal Palace , and it is the best place to find a Balinese chef ready to teach you the ways of Balinese cuisine .

You would typically go out to a local market, experiencing first-hand the day-to-day local life, buy your fresh ingredients, then prepare them with expert guidance before eating your tasty creations.

4. Enter into Local Spiritual Culture at Tirta Empul Temple

It's always nicer to visit a temple in the sun, especially if one of its highlights is the sunset views, like at Uluwatu. Tirta Empul ('Holy Water Spring') Temple is one that can be visited even on a cloudy day, but rain would affect your visit, so try to avoid that.

It's only half an hour outside Ubud . Sarong hire is required at the entrance, and this is another part of stepping into the local culture.

Pura Tirta Empul's focal point is the Hindu cleansing pool where worshipers dip under the 30 spouts of water in turn . Clouds do nothing to dull the pious atmosphere of the crowds of local worshipers and interested onlookers. It's best visited with a local guide who can explain its traditions and what is going on.

Less Crowding and Cost in November in Bali

There is some pleasant weather in Bali in November, but it is definitely an off-season month , with corresponding price reductions. If you don't mind the humidity and moderate rain on one of every two days, then November could be your chance to enjoy Bali at a lower price.

Pack light, cool, quick-drying clothing. An umbrella will be handy to provide shelter from showers and sun. Sandals and cool, breathable footwear are generally recommended.

UV levels will be high, so pack plenty of sun cream, a sunhat, and good sunglasses. Insect/mosquito repellent may be required, especially in evenings and rural areas.

For Bali's Hindu temples and religious sites, bring some light longer clothing to cover arms and legs, which will also help to protect you from the sun and mosquitoes.

For hiking on rural (hillside terrace) paths comfortable walking shoes with a good grip are recommended.

Taking place on various circuits in the Jembrana Regency in western Bali, farmers-turned-jockeys ride on a wooden plough pulled by two ornately decorated buffalos. 2. Celebrate Tumpek Wayang

The Balinese calendar is filled with sacred Hindu Tumpek days – in which different subjects or objects are blessed. There’s Tumpek Kuningan which celebrates ancestral spirits, Tumpek Landep for blessings tools and precious metals, and Tumpek Udu for plants. Tumpek Wayang, which falls on November 25, 2023, honours the art of shadow puppetry and the Lord of Puppeteers – Sanghyang Iswara. On this special day, puppeteers will perform purification rites on themselves, and their puppets ( wayang kulit ) followed by sacred puppet shows right across the island. 3. Pemuteran Bay Festival

Taking place from 16- 18 November 2023, this community-based festival combines culture with conservation, with three days of food, music and cultural performances, as well as fascinating bio-rock and reef gardening workshops. Set in the north of Bali, Pemuteran is one of the world’s most inspiring coral reef restoration projects. Ancient reefs blown apart by dynamite fishing in the 90s have been rejuvenated by a revolutionary technology called Bio Rock, which uses electric currents to stimulate the growth of coral. Snorkelers and divers can explore close to fifty large structures shaped in the form of a caterpillar, whale, igloo, dome, flower and a goddess, all covered in a profusion of brightly coloured coral.   

4. Dive and Snorkel

Bali’s north-east coast is also home to beautiful reefs inhabited by sea horses, giant trevally, schools of barracuda, clown frog fish, turtles and a diverse range of hard and soft coral. Day trips are easily organised from the south of Bali. Dive on the coral-encrusted Liberty shipwreck in Tulamban, or check out Shark Junction for a serious adrenaline surge. At nearby Amed, both divers and snorkelers will find much to explore in a series of sheltered coves. There’s a Japanese wreck nestled in a pretty coral garden just a few meters off the beach. While the shallow waters of Jemaluk Bay host a plethora of tropical fish, who make their home in the pastel-hued corals.    

5. Enjoy a Balinese dance performance

The cool of the evening is the ideal time to enjoy a classical dance performance at GWK Cultural Park, or at one of the beautiful palaces or temples in Ubud . Elaborate performances blend storytelling, religion and art with intricate choreography and rousing music performed by a Gamelan orchestra, promising a night filled with Bali magic and mysticism.

6. Keep cool at a water park

Travelling as a family ? We all know that happy kids mean happy parents, and with dozens of waterslides and rides set in lush, landscaped gardens, kids will have a great day splashing around at Waterbom. Toddlers can play to their heart’s content in the fully supervised Funtastic Zone. Bigger kids can find their thrills on serious adrenaline-inducing rides with fitting names such as Climax, Fast ‘n’Fierce and Smashdown. 8. Discover Denpasar’s traditional markets

How about an authentic Balinese shopping experience ? Rise in the cool of the early morning and head to Denpasar’s traditional markets for a colourful immersion in Bali life. The largest and busiest market in Denpasar, Badung Market is a feast for the senses, and a chance to scoop up some bargains. Shop for exotic fruits, sample spices, and browse fabrics and batik clothing. Just across the river is Kumasari Art Market – a treasure trove for arts, crafts, textiles, wooden sculptures and traditional paintings. Practice your haggling skills, shop for souvenirs, and try local snacks like nasi goreng (fried bananas) sate lilit (minced fish sate.)

Bali has two seasons: wet and dry. Wet season runs from October to April. And dry season runs from May to September.

Because Bali is near the Equator, there is little variation in temperature from month to month. However, there is more chance of rain during wet season. And the humidity tends to be higher, as well. On the other hand, temps tend to be slightly lower.

November is the beginning of the rainy season in Bali. Fortunately, much of the rainfall in November is at night. But things dry up pretty quickly. Also, it’s not as rainy as January or February.

Pemuteran Bay Festival –  11 to 13 November 2023

Pemuteran is a small fishing village in Northwestern Bali, far from the beaten tourism track. Most importantly, it is home to the largest artificial Biorock reef project in the world.

So not surprisingly, the Permuteran Bay Festival is a celebration of not only culture and the arts. For example, there will be cultural and musical performances,  a ature fun run, a food bazaar, a yoga festival, children’s entertainment, a photo hunt, and more.

In addition, there is a strong environmental element.  For example, there will be a fishing contest, a biorock workshop, an art trash workshop, and a reef restoration project.

Pemuteran Bay Festival – Bulenleng Regency, Northwestern Bali. 

Tumpek Wayang  – 25 November 2023

Tumpek Wayang is the sixth day in the Tumpek cycle . And it is the day puppeteers honour the Puppet God . Interestingly, it is considered inauspicious for a baby to be born on this day. When this happens, puppeteers perform a purification ceremony to protect them from harm.

Tumpek Wayang is one  of the six auspicious days on the Balinese Pawukon Calendar . These days occur when the fifth day of the five-day Balinese week falls on a Saturday. And this happens every 35 days. In fact, it takes 210 days to complete the cycle. To clarify, the Balinese Pawukon Year  has 210 days.

With awe-inspiring scenery, dense layers of culture, plenty of sun, surf and sand, and balmy temperatures year-round, Bali calls out like a beacon to adventurers, sun-seekers and travelers who like to truly immerse themselves in the countries they visit. Whatever your travel tastes, you'll find rewarding things to see and do in Bali at any time of year.

The dry season, from April to September, is the most enjoyable time of the year for outdoor activities, including basking on beaches, hiking, surfing, sailing, diving and canyoning. Visit during the wet season (November to March), and you'll experience frequent downpours, but there's good surf on the east coast, and you can still enjoy the outdoors, especially in drier areas in the east and north of the island. Temperatures in Bali don’t vary much from season to season, hovering between 28°C and 32°C (82°F to 90°F) year-round, though it's often cooler in mountain areas. Whatever you're looking for in Bali, here are the best times to come.

The high season (July–August and December) is the best time for festivals and partying

The high season in Bali coincides with the traditional summer vacation season in Europe, America, and Australia in July and August. It's the height of the dry season and the peak time for surfing on the west coast at the breaks around Canggu and Seminyak . Bali's original beach hub, Kuta , can be mobbed at this time of year, as many travelers come here specifically for the party season. 

Most parts of Bali are inundated with visitors in summer, as tourists come to sample the island’s many delights and enjoy some of its most colorful festivals. Indonesia celebrates its independence from colonial powers on August 17 with plenty of pomp and fanfare. Expect entertaining parades and street parties in the bigger towns. 

The period around Christmas and New Year also sees a large influx of travelers seeking a reprieve from cold northern winters. Many hotels, restaurants and other venues organize special dinners and entertainment to mark the festive season. New Year’s Eve is particularly memorable, with spectacular fireworks at midnight to help you rock in the new year in style. Key events to look out for are the Pemuteran Bay Festival, Penglipuran Village Festival and, of course, New Year’s Eve celebrations. 

High season means high prices and pressing hordes in tightly-packed tourist areas; for a quieter experience, seek out more remote spots such as Nusa Penida and Pemuteran .

The shoulder season (April–June and September–October) is best for adventurous travelers

The shoulder season in Bali falls at either end of the dry season, when the weather is either improving after the rains or getting slowly wetter after the dry months. Things are quieter without the summertime crowds, and the weather is normally still dry enough for outdoor activities. However, the two-week Easter spring break can get very busy in tourist areas such as Kuta and Legian .

May marks the surfing season in full swing on the west and south coasts, and rafting, trekking and spelunking beckon adventure sports fans.

As rain showers in October are more frequent than in the dry summer months, plan to spend some time indoors visiting temples, museums and cultural institutions in Ubud , Denpasar , and other centers for Balinese culture. Top international events in October include the  Ubud Village Jazz Festival  and the  Ubud Writers and Readers Festival . 

The low season (January–March and November) is best for budget travelers

Bali’s low season coincides with the rainiest months of the year, and this can be an unpredictable time for outdoor activities. The crowds have decamped back home, and the island is returning to a more relaxed vibe, but there's still decent surf on the east coast at such legendary locations as Padang Padang, and the weather is still warm. Accommodation prices fall considerably, which is great news for budget travelers.

At the end of January or the start of February, Chinese New Year celebrations feature typical Balinese elements such as traditional percussion bands and dancers dressed as the mythological lion-like creature Barong. 

The festival of Nyepi, the Balinese New Year, moves with the lunar calendar but frequently falls in March. This is a culturally fascinating time to visit Bali, but after the colorful parades of ogoh-ogoh puppets the night before the festival, the Day of Silence itself can be a tricky time for visitors as everything closes, transport ceases, and nobody is allowed out on the streets.

Understanding the Balinese calendar

Note that religious festivals such as Galungan and Kuningan are scheduled according to the Balinese 210-day pawukon calendar. This means they happen roughly every seven months, according to the Western calendar. Dates for village festivals are not always set in stone either, and the timing of the Nyepi festival is dictated by the lunar saka calendar, meaning the date changes every year. If you’re planning a trip around a festival or event, check the precise dates before you book your flights.

Situated between Mount Bratan and Mount Catur, Bratan Lake is the second largest lake in Bali.

The floating water temple, Ulun Danu Bratan, is the the biggest draw to the lake. It is incredibly beautiful, with many different areas to explore.

#6 Tirta Empul

• Location: Jl. Tirta, Manukaya, Kec. Tampaksiring, Kabupaten Gianyar

Tirta Empul is one of the largest and busiest water temples in Bali. You’ll want to head there early. 

It is not only used for prayer, but the natural spring running through the temple is used for bathing by the Balinese Hindus to purify themselves, or complete the melukat ritual .

Be sure you dress respectfully and stick to the rules of the temple. 

#7 Lovina Beach

• Location: Kalibukbuk, Buleleng

The charm of Lovina beach is that it is away from the crowds and a peaceful escape.

About 20 kilometers northwest of Kuta, Pura Tanah Lot ("Pura" means temple in Balinese) is one of Bali's most iconic temples. Its spectacular seaside setting, on a rocky islet surrounded by crashing waves, is a major wow factor.

For the Balinese people, it is one of the most sacred of all the island's sea temples. Every evening, throngs of tourists from Kuta, Legian, and Sanur find their way through a labyrinth of lanes lined by souvenir sellers to watch the sun setting behind the temple.

Pura Tanah Lot was built at the beginning of the 16th century and is thought to be inspired by the priest Nirartha, who asked local fishermen to build a temple here after spending the night on the rock outcrop.

Although foreigners can't enter any of the temples in the complex, you can walk across to the main temple at low tide. It's also fun to wander along the paths, taking photos and soaking up the magnificent setting.

From Tanah Lot, you can stroll along tropically landscaped pathways to beautiful Batu Bolong , another sea temple perched on a rock outcrop with an eroded causeway connecting it to the shore.

In Balinese, "Ulu" means "tip" or "land's end," and "Watu" means rock, a fitting name for the location of the temple on the Bukit Peninsula, along the island's southwestern tip. Like Pura Tanah Lot, sunset is the best time to visit , when the sky and sea glow in the late afternoon light.

Archaeological finds here suggest the temple is of megalithic origin, dating from around the 10th century. The temple is believed to protect Bali from evil sea spirits, while the monkeys who dwell in the forest near its entrance are thought to guard the temple from bad influences (keep your belongings securely stashed away from their nimble grasp).

A scenic pathway snakes from the entrance to the temple, with breathtaking viewpoints along the way. Only Hindu worshippers are allowed to enter the temple, but the beautiful setting and the sunset Kecak dance performances that take place here daily are more than worth the visit.

The temple lies about 25 kilometers from Kuta.

Visiting the Monkey Forest, also known as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, is one of the top things to do in Ubud, Bali. It's also one of the best places to visit in Bali if you're an animal lover or photographer. You can walk here in about 10 minutes from the town center in Ubud.

Besides the entertaining troops of grey long-tailed macaques that make their home here, a large part of the appeal is the evocative jungle setting where the monkeys roam free. Paved pathways lead through thick forests of giant banyan and nutmeg trees, where moss-covered statues and ancient temples loom through the dense foliage, imparting an almost mystical feel.

The forest is intended to represent the harmonious coexistence between humans and animals. It also conserves rare plants and is used as a location for researching macaque behavior, particularly their social interaction.

On the southwest side of the forest is one of the three temples found here: the 14th-century Pura Dalem Agung Padangtegal . Here, hundreds of monkeys swing through the trees and clamber over the walls.

In the northwest of the forest, an ancient bathing temple, Pura Beji , nestles next to a cool stream and makes a beautiful backdrop for watching the monkeys' antics.

While visiting the forest, make sure to secure your belongings, and avoid direct eye contact with the animals (and smiling), as this can be interpreted as a sign of aggression. It's also a good idea not to bring any food into the area.

Collections at both include works ranging from traditional to contemporary, including kris (ceremonial daggers), photography, and classical wayang (puppet-figure) paintings.

Other art galleries and museums in the Ubud area that might be of interest to art lovers include Setia Darma House of Masks & Puppets featuring ceremonial masks from Asia and beyond; Museum Puri Lukisan, spanning a range of Balinese artistic styles; and the Don Antonio Blanco Museum, at the artist's former home and studio.

If shopping for art is more your style, don't miss the Ubud Art Market. The 17th-century Pura Ulun Danu Bratan is one of Bali's most picturesque temple complexes. It sits on a small island along the western shore of Lake Bratan, in the cool highlands of central Bali. Set against the imposing backdrop of Gunung Bratan, the thatched temples reflect on the lake, and when the water levels rise, they seem to float on its surface.

Lake Bratan is one of Bali's main sources of irrigation and drinking water, and the temple complex is dedicated to Dewi Danu, goddess of the sea and lakes.

An unusual feature is the Buddhist stupa on the left of the entrance to the first courtyard, with figures of Buddha meditating in the lotus position in niches on the square base. The stupa reflects the adoption of Buddhist beliefs by Balinese Hindus.

The best time to visit this sacred Hindu temple complex is early in the day, before the tourist buses arrive. If you've ever seen the famous Instagram photo of people at the Gates of Heaven and wondered about the location, Pura Penataran Agung Lempuyang is where they posed. Often just called "Lempuyang Temple" (Pura Lempuyang), this famous structure is actually one of a series of temples peppering the highlands of Mount Lempuyang. Tourists come here to capture a photo standing between the towering dragon staircases, which frame the misty peak of Mount Agung.

If you have time, it's worthwhile visiting the other temples while you're here. Pura Luhur Lempuyang is one of Bali's most sacred temples, and one of the hardest to access. Ready for some exercise? The temple lies at the top of a calf-sculpting hike up 1,700 steps through the steamy jungle to almost 1,200 meters above sea level. Keep an eye out for the grey long-tailed macaques scampering around the forest along the way.

The hike to Pura Luhur Lempuyang usually takes around 1.5 to two hours, depending on your fitness level, but once at the top, you'll be rewarded with the mystical beauty of an ancient relic – and spectacular views. Not up for the hike? You might be able to pay a local to whisk you to the end of the asphalt road on a motorbike to shorten the trek.

Insider tip: Try to visit on a clear day for the best views, and bring a sarong, otherwise you might have to rent one at the temple. Also note that local villagers request "donations" at this famous spot.

About 90 minutes' drive northeast of Ubud, the emerald-hued Sidemen Valley evokes the feel of Old Bali, before the tourist throngs descended on the island. Toya Bungkah Hot Spring is located near Lake Batur in the village of Pekraman Batur.

Lake Beratan

Lake Buyan is surrounded by pristine indigenous flora and fauna.

Lake Tamblingan

Lake Tamblingan is located north of Mount Lesong, in the village of Munduk, and west of Lake Buyan.

These two lakes are separated only by a thin strip of several hundred meters of green forest.

The Pura Ulun Danu Tamblingan Temple is located on Lake Tamblingan.

Besides the beautiful lush tropical forests, there are coffee and clove plantations around Lake Tamblingan.

Rivers in Bali

About sixty minutes away from Ubud in the village of Plaga, Petang District, Badung Regency, is the Tukad Bangkung Bridge. This bridge is a special tourist attraction because of the beautiful panoramic views of the valley and the green hills.

This is a favorite location for the Balinese to visit as a family during holidays, such as Galungan and Kuningan.

Galungan is a specific Balinese celebration of the victory of good over evil. During this holiday, the Balinese believe that the spirits of ancestors and deceased relatives visit the land. The hallmark of this celebration is the bamboo poles placed along all the roads.

Galungan is a joyous holiday during which the Balinese visit temples and places like Tukad Bangkung Bridge where, due to the magical natural environment, the spirit of this celebration is manifested in the best way, which is connecting with God.

Kuningan marks the end of the visit of the deceased to their former homes and is the last day of the holiday.

Tukad Bangkung Bridge is among the highest bridges in Asia. It is 360 meters long and almost ten meters wide. The highest pillars reach seventy meters.

Near Tukad Bangkung Bridge in Belok Sidan Village, Petang District is Penikit Waterfall. The village of Belok Sidan has vast fields of marigolds, so the very arrival to this authentic Balinese village is real magic.

On the surrounding hills near the village of Belok Sidan, there are endless terraces of rice fields, and the village itself is located on a plateau.

The Penikit waterfall is also called a cold-hot waterfall because there are two springs: one is a source of cold water, and the other is hot.

There are many other hot springs in the vicinity of the waterfall.

Penikat Waterfall is hidden at the bottom of an idyllic valley surrounded by the shade of forest greenery.

Nungnung Waterfall is located between Bedugul and Ubud. A jungle surrounds this waterfall, and it is reached by a staircase that has over five hundred steps.

Nungnung waterfall is located about nine hundred meters above sea level near the village of Nungnung, about thirty-five kilometers from Ubud.

Aling-Aling Waterfall

Aling-Aling Waterfall is located in the village of Sambangan, about twenty minutes south of Singaraja.

Visitors use this waterfall as a thirty-meter-long natural slide that descends to a pool of crystal-clear water.

Tibumana Waterfall

Tibumana Waterfall is located at Banjar Bangun Lebah Kawan, Apuan Village, Bangli Regency, ten kilometers from Goa Gajah Temple in Ubud.

Tegenungan Waterfall

Tegenungan Waterfall is near Ubud in Tegenungan Kamenuh on the Petan River, Gianyar Regency.

To visit this waterfall, you won’t be able to count on an adventure through the hills, as with the waterfalls in northern Bali, because this waterfall is one of the few that is not in a mountainous area.

Yeh Mampeh Waterfall is located in Les, a small village in Singaraja. Yeh Mampeh, translated from Balinese, means flying water, which immediately explains that it is one of the highest waterfalls in Bali.

The surroundings of this waterfall are hilly and covered with untouched jungle, and the area is known for its large number of caves.

Tukad Cepung Waterfall

Tukad Cepung Waterfall is located in East Bali, in Jalan Tembuk, Dusun Penida Kelod, Tembuk, Bangly Regency.

Like most of tropical Indonesia, Bali only really has two seasons throughout the year, the dry season and the wet season. 

All year-round, it’s hot, and for many, Bali can be visited any time of the year, but between November and March, you can expect downpours most days during the wet season. 

April to October is the dry season and you can expect larger crowds and higher prices but the weather will be perfect.

Often, the best time to visit Bali is a trade-off between the weather and the number of visitors.

Bali Dry Season

The dry season is the best time to visit Bali when it comes to the weather because for half of the year you can expect beautiful clear skies and almost no rainfall.

The dry season in Bali runs from May to October, although this can vary each year. The peak months are the height of the Balinese winter, which is June, July, and August.

May in Bali

May is the start of the official dry season in Bali, but you can still expect a mixed bag when it comes to the weather.

One year it could be raining all through May but the next it can be dry from as early as April. 

If it does rain in May though it’s guaranteed to just be a few light showers, and this is the best time to visit before you hit the high season from June to August.

Prices will be lower in May and with the better weather, it’s a good time to start diving and snorkeling, as the water visibility clears up.

It’s getting cooler too and less humid, so a hike to the summit of Bali’s mysterious volcano, Mount Batur, can be a great activity in May, as you’ll miss the crowds and enjoy better conditions for hiking. 

June in Bali

June is the start of the high season in Bali, although it’s not quite as busy a month as July and August. The weather is likely to be perfect with temperatures averaging in the mid-twenties and humidity low. 

You’ll have to be really unlucky to see even a light rain shower, so it’s a great time to hit up the beaches and make the most of the clear skies and sunshine. 

Prices start to climb in June, but you’ll miss the worst of the high season which picks up towards the end of the month when the European summer holidays begin in earnest. 

In June you should visit the more touristy attractions such as the famous temples in the south – Uluwatu for instance – or the increasingly popular Nusa Islands before the summer crowds make their appearance. 

July in Bali

July is usually the busiest month to visit Bali, but for good reason, and that’s because you’ll be enjoying the best weather of the year. 

But as well as enjoying sunny, clear skies and zero rain, you’ll be sharing the beaches and resorts with hundreds of thousands of holidaymakers. People flock here from Europe, America and more than anywhere else, from Australia. 

Prices will be higher for flights and hotels, but if you do want to escape the crowds then head north.

This is a great time to experience a side of Bali that most miss, and by exploring the black sand beaches of Amed or the coast and jungle of Bali Barat National Park, you’ll see how the south of Bali was a few decades previously. 

August in Bali

Much like July, August is always super busy in Bali. The weather is again beautiful, with clear skies and sunny days, and it’s a great time for lounging on beaches and drinking cold Bintang Beers. 

If you want to escape the holiday crowds though then plan a trip north, and visit the beautiful coastline in more rustic destinations such as Lovina or Amed, where tourism has only recently begun to develop.

There are great snorkeling and diving up north too, including some famous shipwrecks, and as it’s the height of the dry season the water will be beautifully clear.

September in Bali

September can be the best time to visit Bali if you want a great mix of good weather and smaller crowds. 

Things will still be busy and flights will be more expensive than the later shoulder season months. But you’ll save money compared to the true high season and have fewer people around when you explore touristy destinations such as Ubud, Kuta or the Nusa Islands. 

October in Bali

October is a great shoulder season month, but the dry weather is coming to a close. There are more and more rainy days, but these can be unpredictable.

If you’re in Bali for two weeks, you’ll most likely have enough dry days to make the most of your visit. 

Enjoy the south and the more traditional beach areas, get cultural in Ubud or escape to the north to see a wilder side of the island. 

Bali Wet Season 

The wet season in Bali runs from November through to April, corresponding with the southern hemisphere summer and fall.

It’s tropical, and that means that while it does rain hard when it rains, showers and storms are brief but fierce.

The rainy season can be a great time to miss the crowds but give December and January a miss because these two months are still incredibly popular despite the wet weather. 

November in Bali

November is when the rainy season starts in Bali, but just how much rain there will be, can vary.

You’ll have good odds of having lovely sunny days still, and it’s a great time to visit because you’ll miss the Christmas crowds who are just around the corner. 

You can get wonderful deals on flights and hotels through November, and you’ll still be able to snorkel and dive before the water gets too cloudy from the rains.

It’s getting hotter, but take a trip to the summit of Mount Batur and you’ll be able to cool down after a challenging hike to the top of Bali’s iconic volcano. 

December in Bali

December is usually the rainiest month of the year, and weather-wise, this really is not the best time to visit Bali. 

The tourist crowds would beg to differ though because while you might get soaked, it’s also incredibly warm still.

That draws over the Christmas crowds seeking winter sun from Europe and North America , and it still brings over the Aussie crowds looking for a cheap getaway. 

It’s a lively time to be in Bali, and it’s not a bad place at all to spend Christmas and New Year, but be prepared for high prices and lots of other travelers and tourists. 

January in Bali

January can be just as busy as December and unfortunately, just as rainy. This is the height of the wet season, but again, it doesn’t put off the crowds. 

If you do visit, then the southern beaches and classic resort areas are best avoided. Head north instead, and find a bit more peace and quiet in the lesser-visited parts of Bali.

February in Bali

In February, the weather starts to cool down slightly and the rainy days begin to disappear, but it’s still very much the wet season. 

It’s a great shoulder season month, right after the Christmas crowds go home, and you can enjoy many of Bali’s best sights with fewer people around. 

Head to the waterfalls, as they will be in their element, and the jungle will be lush and green from all the rainfall over the last few months. 

March in Bali

March can be a wet month or it can be a dry month, the weather gods in Bali are unpredictable this time of the year. 

It will be a quiet month on the tourism front though and that makes it the best time to visit Bali if you’re a fan of shoulder season travel. 

The Christmas and New Year crowds are long gone, and the dry season tourists are a few months away.

You can get great deals on flights and resorts if you book in advance, and you’ll find that lots of beach areas in the south such as Kuta, Seminyak or Canggu are quieter.

This is Bali though, so if you’re here for the social aspects then there are always other travelers around to hang out with. 

April in Bali

April is a great shoulder month, but be careful of the Easter Holidays in Australia or Europe, as Bali becomes a popular holiday break destination during this time of the year. 

You could enjoy almost all sunny days or conversely it could also rain a lot, but that’s the gamble in April as the rainy season draws to a close. 

It’s the tail end of the wet season though and Bali will be blooming, making this a great month to visit the waterfalls and the rice paddies before they start to dry out again.

Visit Ubud for cultural festivals and then hike through the rice terraces nearby.
