As a well-known premium brand in the cruise industry, we receive a high volume of cruise employment inquiries each day. To help you understand what to expect if you are being considered for a position, we’ve outlined the application process below.

Princess Cruises works with a global network of authorized recruiters to attract and select the most qualified candidates to join us at sea. If you are being considered for a position, there could be several steps after your initial application before you are notified with a decision. Depending on the job you are applying for, these could include follow-up interviews with our corporate hiring managers.

If you are successful in your application, there are also several steps you will need to take to become travel-ready to work onboard. You will partner with a manning office that will help you obtain the required seafarer medical certificates, travel visas, and other required documentation to work at sea.

Marketing & Social Media Executive

• Salary: £23,000-25,000 per annum (based on experience)

We are looking to grow our Marketing Team with the addition of a Marketing & Social Media Executive. The successful applicant will take the lead on our social strategy while also undertaking various content-related responsibilities, from writing landing pages and emails to blog posts and news articles.

Founded in 1993, The Cruise Line is the UK’s original luxury cruise specialist. We partner with over 30 of the world’s leading ocean, river, and expedition cruise operators to deliver exceptional luxury holiday experiences for our clients.

About the role:

Our Marketing Team is a critical component of our business and has established a reputation in the industry for its can-do attitude and ability to turn high-quality campaigns around at a moment’s notice. You’ll assist the team on a range of projects while also enjoying free rein to indulge your creativity.

Key responsibilities:

• Manage our social media presence to serve business requirements, ensuring a consistent brand-appropriate tone-of-voice at all times.
• Create captivating written content for use on website pages, e-newsletters, industry-related articles, press releases, and blog posts.
• Work alongside the Marketing Director to help define the ongoing content strategy, considering seasonality, milestones, product launches, and holiday periods.
• Assist the Marketing Manager with offline marketing pieces, including press ads, brochures, postcards, and letters.
• Track and report on content and social media campaigns to determine effectiveness and identity areas for improvement.
• Get involved with housekeeping tasks, including website updates, offer production and team briefings.
• Attend client/industry events where required (1-2 per year)

Role requirements:

• 1+ years of digital marketing/copywriting experience
• Able to create engaging written content with a degree of grammatical accuracy
• Excellent communication skills with strong attention to detail
• Good grasp of SEO techniques and practices
• Experience using social media management platforms (Hootsuite, Buffer, etc.)
• Familiar with WordPress (or a similar CMS) and the Microsoft Office suite
• Good understanding of Google Analytics for tracking and reporting purposes
• Educated to degree level or higher
• Experience using an ESP such as MailChimp, Campaign Manager, Pure360 etc
• Experience with Photoshop or other elements of the Adobe suite
• Experience working in a B2C business, preferably in the leisure and tourism industry

• LOVES writing! This role is heavily content-driven, so you’ll have lots of opportunities to perfect your skills.

Cruise Ships operate like floating 5* hotels, and require thousands of qualified, dedicated, hard working staff in every department. It is expected that in the next few years the number of cruise ships operating will continue to increase, thus creating a huge amount of job opportunities. This, together with the normal high turnover rate on board cruise ships means they are always recruiting new personnel. Qualified candidates from the United Kingdom are always on demand.

All cruise jobs are subject to contract, therefore it is vital to consider all the pros and cons before signing on the dotted line. It will not be a holiday, but shift work with long hours. You will definitely not enjoy the same perks as paying passengers during your time off, ie not able to use the leisure / dining facilities reserved for passengers.

However, you will get to travel the world, enjoy free accommodation, have meals provided and free medical care. All whilst being paid a salary.

The criteria for UK candidates varies according to the cruise line. However native English speakers are usually preferred for management positions, chefs, entertainers, retail staff, photographers, receptionists etc.

Hebridean Island Cruises Jobs

UK based Hebridean Island Cruises operates Hebridean Princess, a small ship that carries 50 guests and 38 crewmembers. With a crew to guest ratio of nearly one to one, the officers and crew know the names of all guests.

Facts About Hebridean Island Cruises

The ship began service in 1964 as a car ferry and Royal Mail ship. In 1989 she underwent a major refit and emerged as the Hebridean Princess. The small and exclusive Hebridean Princess, purpose-built for Scotland’s Western Isles, sails mainly from her home port of Oban. In July 2006, Queen Elizabeth II chartered Hebridean Princess for a holiday around the Scottish Islands.

In 2009, All Leisure Group, which also owned Swan Hellenic and Voyages of Discovery at the time, purchased Hebridean Island Cruises. In 2015, All Leisure Holidays Ltd entered into an agreement for the sale and leaseback of the Hebridean Princess cruise vessel to HP Shipping. HP Shipping was a new company, wholly owned by a syndicate of private investors, including Roger Allard (the majority shareholder of All Leisure Group).

In January 2017, All Leisure Holidays stopped trading, called in administrators, resulting in the collapse of cruise brands Swan Hellenic and Voyages of Discovery. Hebridean Island Cruises returned to being an independently owned British company, owned by HP Shipping. Roger Allard, is the chairman of HP Shipping and Hebridean Island Cruises.

In August 2020, HP Shipping Ltd., purchased 27-passenger ship MV Lord of the Glens from the Magna Carta Steamship Company.

Hebridean Island Cruises uses Northern Marine Manning Services as their recruitment agency. Interested applicants may apply through the agency’s website. Hebridean Island Cruises states on their website that they have been made aware of a hoax email that is being circulated and fraudulent emails have been sent from persons not associated with Hebridean Island Cruises.

Please note that emails sent from [email protected] by someone claiming to be called Shaun Marvel or the Hebridean Recruitment team are fraudulent. No such person works for Hebridean Island Cruises and no such department exists. Recruitment for Hebridean Princess is undertaken ONLY by Northern Marine Manning Services.
