Tinashe And Shygirl Are Heading Out On A Co-Headlining Tour Across North America This Year

Lexi Lane

Tinashe and Shygirl are blessing both of their fan bases by deciding to join forces for a new North American co-headlining tour. Featuring Uniiqu3 as an opener, the shows will kick off this October starting in Chicago and continue throughout the winter.

The duo celebrated the news by sharing a special tour date poster, where they’re posing together in red dresses and matching heeled boots. Earlier this year, Shygirl also brought Tinashe onto her “Heaven” remix — giving fans an early preview of the party that was about to come.

Since the news broke, many are also hoping that they bring the same co-headlining energy over to Europe. (But for now, it’s just North America.)

The presale kicked off today at noon and will run through Thursday, August 3 at 10 a.m. local time. VIP packages also went on sale today. As for a general public onsale, this will open on Friday, August 4 at 10 a.m. local as well.

Tinashe is headed back on tour this fall; this time she will be joined by British artist Shygirl.

The North American leg kicks off Oct. 28 in Chicago, Illinois, at Aragon Ballroom. From there, the two artists will play in major cities such as Toronto, New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and Los Angeles, to name a few.

The tour will conclude Nov. 18 in Oakland, California, at Fox Theater. Presale begins Thursday, Aug. 3, at 10 p.m. local time. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. local time.

Tinashe

Tinashe’s upcoming joint tour will follow her mini summer tour, where she played in different cities in different countries throughout June.

Last month, Tinashe released her era-launching single “ Talk To Me Nice ,” co-produced by Nosaj Thing and  Scoop DeVille . The party-ready bop was accompanied by a video solely starring Tinashe.

“‘Talk To Me Nice’ is an exploration of identity within genre. As someone who has constantly felt drawn to create in the gray areas between genres, I have found that I feel most myself there,” explained Tinashe. “Furthermore, it explores the feeling of being on the edge of a relationship and looking at it with skepticism, self-preservation, and self-confidence.”

“Talk To Me Nice” will appear on Tinashe’s upcoming sixth album,  BB/ANG3L , which will release on Ricky Reed’s Nice Life Recording Company.

Regarding her forthcoming album, Tinashe explained, “For  BB/ANG3L I was very inspired by the concept of identity. Exploring both how I self-identify and also challenging the perceptions of others.”

She continued, “I believe how we identify in this world is ultimately our own personal choice; and I’ve enjoyed stripping back layers of aesthetic fluff, smoke & mirrors, and white noise to get down to the core of myself. Who we are at a core level, when we are alone – raw & unfiltered, is what I want this album to reflect.”

BB/ANG3L  will follow Tinashe’s album,  333 , released in 2021.

As for Shygirl, she released her  Nymph in the Wild  EP in late July. The four-track project contains different mixes of select songs from her 2022 debut album, Nymph.

Bad news for all the Nymphs and BB/ANG3Ls out there: Shygirl has canceled her upcoming joint-headlining North American tour with R&B artist Tinashe, citing an “ongoing respiratory condition.”

“I’ve been forced to make the difficult decision to cancel my appearances on the upcoming U.S. tour on the advice of my doctor that I can no longer delay surgery,” the U.K. musician posted in a statement on social media Friday afternoon.

The tour was set to begin next Saturday in Chicago and continue a 13-date run throughout the United States and Canada, including a performance in Los Angeles on Nov. 16.

Shygirl wrote that she was “heartbroken” to share the news and had been excited to tour with Tinashe and their opener, Jersey club DJ Uniiqu3.

“My thoughts also go to Tinashe and Uniiqu3 as we were all so looking forward to this tour together,” Shygirl said.

Tinashe, who recently put out an open call for dancer auditions for the tour, said in her own post that she felt “beyond devastated” about the canceled shows, but added: “THE SHOW MUST GO ON!”

“I’ve been working tirelessly with my team to put together my own tour which will be announced in the coming weeks,” the Los Angeles-based performer said on social media . “This new show is absolutely incredible and I can’t wait to show you what we have been working so hard on.”

No information was provided regarding refunds. As of Friday, Shygirl was still set to embark on a European leg of her solo Nymph World Tour beginning in Rotterdam, Netherlands, on Nov. 29.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

Charli XCX (L) and Troye Sivan are headlining on tour together in 2024.

The club is headed to arenas this fall.

Electrop icons Charli XCX and Troye Sivan announced they’re swinging into huge venues all over North America this September and October as part of their 2024 ‘Sweat Tour’ featuring special guest Shygirl.

That includes a huge gig at NYC’s Madison Square Garden on Sept. 23 for the dance-y duo.

According to a press release, “fans can expect an electrifying show filled with exhilarating performances, stunning visuals, and infectious beats.”

Prior to the arena tour, Charli XCX will embark on a mini three-show tour promoting her new album “Brat,” due out June 7.

On that run, she’ll stop into Queens, NY’s Knockdown Center on June 11.

If you’re holding out for the ‘Sweat Tour’ though, tickets for all 21 ‘Sweat Tour’ dates can be scooped us as soon as today.

Although inventory isn’t available for the newly announced shows on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 26, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan tickets 2024

A complete calendar including tour dates, venues, and links to buy tickets can be found below.

Charli XCX new music

The ‘Sweat Tour’ comes on the heels of Charli XCX’s upcoming sixth studio album, “Brat.”

She describes the record “as her ’most aggressive and confrontational record,’ but also her most vulnerable,” in an interview with The Face .

Thus far, she’s dropped three singles from the record, the club banger “Von dutch,” rave-y “Club classics” and dreamy “B2b.”

“Club classics started in George’s kitchen,” XCX shared on Instagram . I was talking about missing hearing Sophie’s music as much as I used to at parties and ended up turning this thought into a song about only really wanting to hear my own music and my friends’ music at clubs (true).”

“B2b started with a last-minute dinner at the restaurant overlooking the Louvre and ended in a studio in LA with a load of equipment covered in whipped cream (also true).”

Troye Sivan new music

This year, Troye Sivan has only released one song; the swirling, kaleidoscopic Bag Raiders remix of “Got Me Started.”

In October 2023, he put out his most recent album “Something to Give Each Other,” which includes the unforgettable lead track “Rush.”

Charli XCX and Troye Sivan previous collaborations

This nationwide tour won’t be the first time XCX and Sivan have worked together; in 2018-19, they released a pair of singles, “1999” and “2099.”

Want to revisit the jams?

Click here to check out the bouncy “1999,” and the sparse, futuristic “2099” can heard here .

At all shows, Shygirl will add to the tour’s club-like atmosphere.

Known for her feature work on FKA Twigs’ “papi bones” as well as hypnotic EDM bangers like “mr useless,” “4eva” and “thicc,” she’ll make showing up on time essential for the ‘Sweat Tour.’

For those that aren’t acquainted with her sound, you can find Shygirl’s complete discography here .

The Best Albums of 2024 (So Far)

Portrait of Craig Jenkins

Rapid, terrifying cultural movement leaves the year’s most notable releases investigating deep questions and framing art as a balm for multiplying worries. Midwest rapper-singer 1010Benja is studying Matthew Barney’s The Cremaster Cycle ; TDE star ScHoolboy Q is rapping about mental health; guitar whiz Mk.gee is singing about love and redemption. Everyone on our current best-of 2024 list is out there searching and yearning.

All albums are listed by release date, starting with the most recent titles.

Claire Rousay, sentiment

shygirl tour

Drifting through the psychedelic badlands adjoining Midwest emo and early post rock, sentiment — the latest full-length album from prolific singer-songwriter and found-sound composer Claire Rousay — surveys the numbness of depression with a mapmaker’s exhaustiveness. “Head” observes a relationship in disrepair, grappling wearily with a tendency to placate a lover’s mercurial moods while flowing almost imperceptibly from a creeping slowcore riff to a shimmering coda. Rousay calls this blend of crestfallen sentimentality and economic instrumentation “emo ambient,” and there’s a self-deprecating humor in the distinction, but the glum, glacial “asking for it” and “please 5 more minutes” wear their contrasts and anachronisms well.

Shabaka, Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace

shygirl tour

The British bandleader Shabaka Hutchings, formerly of Sons of Kemet and the Comet Is Coming, sets his signature saxophone aside on Perceive Its Beauty, Acknowledge Its Grace , his elegant solo album. Like Andre 3000’s New Blue Sun , Perceive honors the expressiveness of the flute and its many siblings while assembling a cast of characters that speaks to Hutchings’s prolificacy as front and side man: Andre, poet and musician Saul Williams, Armand Hammer rapper Elucid, experimental-music veteran Laraaji, and British singer-songwriter Lianne La Havas each make appearances.

1010Benja, Ten Total

shygirl tour

Ten Total , the electric debut album by Tulsa’s 1010Benja, wars with tradition in two ways: The 34-year-old rapper, singer, and producer juxtaposes motormouth sex raps and romantic Timberlake-isms early on as the coarse “Peacekeeper” and the warm “H2HAVEYOU” lay out a knack for playing into and against classic R&B conventions. Elsewhere, in the windswept, upbeat “I Can,” you hear the preacher’s son bucking against the family worldview and carving his own spiritual path, finding use not in the organ reveries of gospel so much as the earnest emotionalism of church performance. The sensibility recalls another midwestern artist’s introduction: Chance the Rapper’s 10 Day .

Kim Gordon, The Collective

shygirl tour

The list of ingredients appears to spell chaos: shimmering guitars, grungy drum machines, a 70-year-old white woman. Luckily, the artist in residence is restless rock-and-roll lifer Kim Gordon, formerly of Sonic Youth and more recently of Glitterbust and Body/Head. The Collective , Gordon’s second solo album billed as such, revels in abrasive guitar noise and pummeling, programmed percussion. The sinister, suffocating “Shelf Warmer” and “The Candy House” gesture to southern rap, but the album is otherwise a reminder of the closeness of hip-hop and alt rock in the era where Sonic Youth and Cypress Hill collaborated. It’s also a wry meta-discussion about the machinery of cool. “So what if I like the big truck,” Gordon preens in “I’m a Man.” The lurid “Psychedelic Orgasm” deals in disaffected people watching: “Driving down, sunset / Zombie meditation / Getting caffeinated.” The Collective doesn’t speak out in judgment of what it surveys but makes sure to relay a faint sense of the hollowness of our routines and the smallness of our dreams.

Ben Frost, Scope Neglect

shygirl tour

It itches to categorize Scope Neglect , Australian composer Ben Frost’s sixth studio album, as extreme metal, though the parts are present in abundance. “The River of Light and Radiation” is, on paper, a djent tune that takes after the time-signature workouts from Swedish technical geniuses. But it’s not spiriting you across heady peaks to a rewarding resolution, drawing attention to a compositional resourcefulness, as is the tendency in that genre. Opener “Lamb Shift” picks over the parts of a riff that might do someone like Meshuggah justice if it would just quit falling apart long enough to loop; “Turning the Prism” seems more interested in the ominously braying noise interrupting its main riff than offering the release the brain is trained to seek after the ear comes into contact with a heavily distorted guitar and a quick, threatening kick drum. Scope Neglect is exploring metal as scenery, as tonal palate. It’s saying plodding, icy stasis can be hellish, too.

Jahari Massamba Unit, YHWH Is Love

shygirl tour

A genre-hopping mind-meld uniting a pair of storied indie-rap figureheads, YHWH Is Love , the second album from Madlib and Karriem Riggins’s Jahari Massamba Unit, is brimming with playful, mournful, wily, and beguiling compositions that play to the duo’s wide-ranging talents as beat-makers and collaborators for everyone from Doom and Dilla to Denzel Curry and Diana Krall. Love is rangy without being showy: The de facto theme song “JMU’s Voyage” is all bustling, muscular jazz-funk; the simmering, sedate “ALL THINGS …” opts for a more silent way.

ScHoolboy Q, Blue Lips

shygirl tour

ScHoolboy Q plugs the gap Kendrick Lamar left in TDE’s A-list rap roster with Blue Lips , his sixth album. Five years after dividing the fandom with the adroitly mainstream (if underrated) CrasH Talk , Q turns in a more dynamic performance. He can be the devil on your shoulder instigating unrest in “Pop” or the determined son and father in “Germany 86’” or the hornball in “Love Birds” or the grieving friend in “Blueslides.” “I done lost out on so much shit tryna live to your standards,” he says in the latter, resolving to prioritize his well-being and follow his own compass. The choice works wonders for the craft.

➽ Read Craig Jenkins’s full review of ScHoolboy Q’s Blue Lips .

Brittany Howard, What Now

shygirl tour

A rock and soul historian whose guitar and vocal chops are as cold as her constellation of influences is vast, Brittany Howard serves another musicology lesson with What Now , a tour de force from the echoing, narcotic “Earth Sign” to the stately “Every Color in Blue.” Howard’s music dances deftly across decades: The motivational “Another Day” has New Power Generation airs; the wistful “To Be Still” and “Red Flags” serve hazy soul jazz. What Now documents straining relations — “I followed you and didn’t look back / I didn’t know love could feel like that / I ran right through them red flags” — but colorful compositions and arrangements undercut the sadness in tracks like “The Power to Undo,” where the protagonist is begging a partner not to demolish everything they’ve built accompanied by impossibly clattering drums and layer upon layer of gnarly fuzz. Brittany Howard is singing herself, and us, through it.

Mk.gee, Two Star & the Dream Police

shygirl tour

Two Star & the Dream Police , the debut studio album from 26-year-old New Jersey singer-songwriter and guitar prodigy Mk.gee, marries evocative lyricism — “What’s keeping you fenced off? / And who’s got the power in your mind?” — and expressive playing, which communicates a firm grasp on rock canon but also the urge to subvert it. Highlights like the yearning “Candy” feel like conversations with the classics as much as adoring odes to their love interests. The production screams “Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic,” but the vocals owe less to Sting than the plaintive earnestness of Frank Ocean; an unexpectedly skronky solo recalls Prince’s assault on the ideological partitions separating R&B and rock in the ’80s. Moments later, “I Want” drafts a rewrite of Ben E. King’s “Stand by Me” with a solo that can’t easily be identified as a guitar. You might start to suspect he’s using snazzy effects pedals, but he isn’t.

Shygirl, Club Shy

shygirl tour

A curt batch of bubbly dance-pop bangers touching on entertaining (and/or rebuffing) a lover’s advances, London DJ and singer Shygirl’s Club Shy goes where earlier releases like 2020’s Alias and 2022’s Nymph somewhat resisted, serving full-throated club-diva anthems reaching for the blissful, carefree sensuality of Eurodance hits like La Bouche’s “Be My Lover” and Crystal Waters’s “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)”; the gorgeous, cutting SG Lewis collab “Mr. Useless,” the pulsating Boys Noize team-up “Tell Me,” and the instantly quotable “Mute” — “We putting them boys on mute, mute, mute, mute” — get dangerously close.

The Smile, Wall of Eyes

shygirl tour

Having gelled during their extensive touring, Radiohead’s splinter cell the Smile — comprising of OK Computer architects Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood and London jazz drummer Tom Skinner — barrels into sophomore album Wall of Eyes touting denser, plusher compositions and a more wounded and introverted outlook. There are no searing indictments of political injustice this time from the erstwhile leftist-rock vanguard of the aughts. There is a subtle sensation of sliding into the too-hot bathwater of a trying time that could be a breakup or a death or a “dragnet” or whatever the listener needs to have a quick shudder about.
