In Star Trek Online, aspiring captains can take the helm of one of more than 400 different ships that can be further personalized with custom color schemes, materials, shields, and capabilities. And now thanks to Eucl3D , a 3D printing company, those ships can be brought into the real world.

If you’ve spent countless hours, weeks, even years, playing Star Trek Online, it only makes sense that you’d find yourself feeling a certain attachment to the ship you’ve commanded all that time. Pricing hasn’t been confirmed for the new service, but using full-color 3D printers—the closest thing we have to Star Trek’s replicators—Eucl3D will turn it into a 12-inch replica you can proudly display on your desk. Or, more likely, fly around your office while making warp engine sound effects.

You’ll have to look real close at these models to see the telltale signs of 3D printing: those subtle lines created during the additive layering process. But otherwise there appears to be a tremendous amount of detailing reproduced, and each ship includes a display stand. There’s no word on availability yet, or if you have to be a registered Star Trek Online player to order one. But hopefully anyone can visit the Eucl3D site and create the Starfleet ship they’ve been envisioning since they were a little kid.

Star Trek Online , the free-to-play online roleplaying game, has been letting you choose from over 600 ships for over eight years, but we’re now taking it a step further. Starting this minute, you’ll be able to use Star Trek Online to customize your favorite Star Trek ships and have them turned into beautiful, hand-painted, 3D printed collectibles for your home, your office, or wherever you display your love for Star Trek.

Here’s how it works: On PC, ready the starship you want printed, and head to the ship tailor. You’ll find a brand-new button that reads, “3D Print This Ship.” Clicking on this will bring you to the option to learn more about this process, or to print this ship. Once you’ve chosen to print the ship, it’ll upload directly to our partner, Mixed Dimensions, who will offer you three different options to print. You can print it in a solid color, to recreate the trophies of your personal Ready Room. You can print a primed version of the model for you to paint yourself. Or you can have Mixed Dimensions’ talented staff hand paint a replica of your favorite ship, with your name, registry number, and customizations.

‘Star Trek Online’ 3D Printed Ships Available Now

Last month we reported that Star Trek Online was planning on offering players the chance to get their personal ships turned into actual models through a partnership with the integral reality company, Mixed Dimensions using their “new GamePrint technology. Today, Perfect World and Cryptic rolled out the new feature for PC players, along with more pricing, details, photos and a video showing how it is done.

According to the announcement, the handcrafted resin starship collectibles can be delivered almost anywhere around the world and base pricing will begin at $200, depending on size and customization options.

Star Trek Online ’s executive producer, Steve Ricossa, explains the 3D offering in this video:

Starting today, Star Trek Online players can bring their starships to life, using Mixed Dimensions’ proprietary 3D printing solution along with the hand craftsmanship from a team of master artists. After customizing their ships in the PC version of Star Trek Online , players will discover an option to upload their ship design directly to the GamePrint website.

Players are able to select from three different purchase options (Costs for all three options may vary according to ship size and customizations):

Collectible Version – Base Price: $350: Captains can commission one of the company’s master artists to hand-paint a premium, full-colored resin model of their starship, which includes detailed shading. Exceptional artistry and focus is placed on each individual ship.

Pathfinder collectible

Single Color Version – Base Price: $225: Players can order a 3D-printed model of their starship, painted in either gold, silver, bronze or black. The model is polished, finished and ready for display.

Primer Version – Base price: $200: Model painters and hobbyists can order a primed model of their favorite starship, coated in a base layer of primer and ready to be painted.

that pathfinder needs to be sucked into a blackhole and destroyed forever, how about showing the constitution or galaxy class?

Harsh. I’m guessing they prefer to emphasize their own starship designs over 30+ or 50+ year old designs, no matter how iconic those older designs happen to be.

ouuuuuch…. That’s pricey. Not going to completely rule it out, but I’ll have to save my pennies and make sure I “choose wisely”.

Agreed. I wish they offered more options, too. Like sometime the size of an Eaglemoss ship rather than as big as these things look to be. I’m going to have to think on whether I want my modified Yorktown/Odyssey or my Kelvin Connie with different colorations. And if I go the latter…I’d have to choose between what I normally roll with or the “classic” version that makes it look more like the TOS in colors.

$200? Oooff.

That said, its still more than I personally want to spend, so, oh well.

Do you have a favorite ship in Star Trek Online? The one that’s always carried you through, no matter how tough the fight? The one that you’ve lovingly built and rebuilt again and again, chasing that perfect set up, and just the right colors? The ship that you proudly call your home among the stars? We’re happy to announce that, starting today, Captains all over the world can begin the process of bringing that ship to life. You’ll be able to order a 3D printed, high quality collectible of your ship to keep with you at work, at home, or wherever you want to see the ship you love.

Here’s how it works: Ready the starship you want printed, and head to the ship tailor. You’ll find a brand new button that reads, “3D Print This Ship.” Clicking on this will bring you to the option to learn more about this process, or to print this ship. Once you’ve chosen to print the ship, it’ll upload directly to our partner, Mixed Dimensions. You’ll be able to pick from three different options:

Since every customized starship is individually crafted and hand-painted, these ships will only be created in batches of 100 units at a time. When players place their order with Mixed Dimensions, they will be notified of the estimated time it will take to create and deliver their starship. In addition, captains will also receive photo updates of their ships in real time, notifying them when their collectibles have been printed and painted.

For those who don’t have access to the PC version of Star Trek Online, Mixed Dimensions will be offering completed models, replicating 20 of the game’s most popular starships. These hand-painted starship collectibles will be available soon.

That maybe a technical issue we can resolve in the future. Please also note: Captains who use Lighting 1.0 will not be able to 3D print a ship at this time. If you are able to switch to 2.0 long enough to export the ship, you will still be able to.

Shipping is available in most of North America, Europe, Australia and several other territories. ‘Star Trek Online’ players will soon be able to order 3D models of their ships

There is no exact date for availability at the moment, nor any pricing announced. Star Trek Online executive producer Stephen Ricossa says the main reason they decided to work with Eucl3d was to give players a more tangible way to interact with their ship.

“Captains will be able to print any ship they own with all of the customization options,” Ricossa wrote in a blog post . “There are millions of customization options, and you can choose to print your ship with as much or as little customization as you choose.”

According to the game developers, there are more than 400 ships in the game, all of which can be printed thanks to the new partnership. Those that have seen early prototypes of the 3D ships say that while a bit on the rough side, they do show an impressive amount of detail.

For those that don’t know what Star Trek Online is, the game is an MMORPG based on the world of the TV series. What makes Star Trek Online  stand out is the capability to customize your starship to your specifications, including the nacelles, saucers, hulls, and even down to the color and lights of the ship itself.

While the game was originally intended for the PC, free-to-play versions launched on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles in September in celebration of the show’s 50th anniversary.

AMD is currently readying its new Ryzen 7 5800X3D, featuring a 3D V-cache, and it looks like we may soon have a powerful processor on our hands. AMD has teased that we can expect an up to 15% performance boost over the base Ryzen 7 5800X.

The tech giant talked about the new chip during the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSSC) and revealed more information about its architecture. While the Ryzen 7 5800X3D will certainly be an improvement, will it be enough to compete with Intel's best processors?

The first processor to use a 3D V-Cache technology was announced at the big AMD CES 2022 keynote. The tech was first announced at Computex 2021, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a processor that will put it to use.

That processor is the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which seems like a strange place to start a new range of processors. AMD has its Ryzen 9 chips, after all. That's because the new Ryzen 7 can outclass AMD's Ryzen 9 5900X while gaming, despite using the same architecture.
