Luxury fashion retailer Louis Vuitton is opening spots to tour its handbag workshop just south of Fort Worth.

Guests will tour the 105-acre Louis Vuitton Rochambeau Ranch in Alvarado as part of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s Les Journées Particulières , which translates to special days. This is the fifth time the company has done tours of its stores and manufacturing facilities.

Fifty-seven brands across 93 locations in 15 countries will open to the public, and the tours are free. Registration begins Thursday and ends Oct. 3 for one-hour tours on Oct. 14, 15 and 16. There will be five tours each day.

Les Journées Particulières is designed to show the company’s heritage and craftsmanship and attract new talent to enter a LVMH specialty.

“It offers a rare opportunity to visit the actual locations where the magic occurs and gain precious insights into how our artisans shape dreams that, in turn, make our world a more beautiful place to be in,” said Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, in a statement.

The luxury goods maker has a firm presence in North Texas.

In September 2021 , Louis Vuitton acquired a 160,000-square-foot property at 2901 Kinwest Parkway office campus in Las Colinas. According to documents filed with the state at the time, Louis Vuitton plans to renovate the property into a customer service center.

Louis Vuitton has a call center and other offices at 4200 Regent Blvd. in Irving. And the firm, which has its U.S. headquarters in New York, also has offices in Colleyville.

Former President Donald Trump, daughter Ivanka, her husband, Jared Kushner, and three top Cabinet officials visited the facility in 2019 when the handbag factory had just opened.

At the time, the facility employed 150 workers making purses and backpacks that sell for $1,400 to $2,200 apiece. The workshop produces popular styles, including Neverfull, Artsy, Iena, Graceful, Palm Spring and Neo Noe.

All U.S. based Louis Vuitton artisans undergo extensive training programs followed by years of apprenticeship to master the craft of making luxury leather goods with the same quality as those produced in Europe.

In July, the company reported almost $36 billion in sales for the first half of 2022, up 28% for the same period last year.

“We approach the second half of the year with confidence, but given the current geopolitical and health situation, we will remain vigilant and count on the agility and talent of our teams to further strengthen our global leadership position in luxury goods in 2022,” Arnault said in a statement at the time.

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton represents 75 “houses,” or brands, of wine and spirits, fashion and leather goods, perfume and cosmetics, watches, jewelry and more. The company has 156,000 employees globally, with 33,000 in the U.S. The company has 780 retail stores in the U.S. and six production sites.

Look Inside Louis Vuitton’s Home, Now the Site of La Galerie

Less than a year after Louis Vuitton unveiled its startlingly angular Frank Gehry–designed Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris, the luxury brand has opened its petite counterpart, La Galerie. After all, what better time than couture week to fling open to the doors (and garden gates) to one of the most exclusive locations in France: Louis Vuitton’s historic home and atelier located in the Paris suburb, Asnières-sur-Seine. Of course, a garden party was in order.

Vuitton built the famed residence—where fashion types sipped on Champagne and green juice Sunday afternoon—in the Seine-side suburb in 1959. Production had outgrown his petite Paris atelier and in this new, riverside locale he could easily import poplar wood—it arrived atop a Louis Vuitton barge—for his hefty, now-iconic trunks. He soon built a series of structures in the glass-and-steel Eiffel style, which, through the following century, bore witness to a sum of history-making events—the creation of the brand’s signature Monogram pattern, the Houdini Challenge to test its patented locks—and countless family dinners of pot au feu .

Though the family moved out of the home in 1964, the atelier remained in business, specializing in hard-sided luggage and, perhaps most importantly, housing the brand’s vast archive. For the permanent show in the newly opened La Galerie—a stark series of rooms with vaulted steel-and-wood ceilings—curator Judith Clark sifted through 165,000 documents and 23,000 objects to select a handful of pieces that would give insight into the storied history of the brand. In the show, never-before-seen items like Gaston-Louis Vuitton’s letters, Loïe Fuller’s dance accessories, and Frank Gehry’s design for Fondation Louis Vuitton join luggage, objects, and clothing created by the label over the years. Inspired by a wood cube puzzle she found in the archives, Clark displayed all of the objects and clothing, organized by theme, in and around arrangements of poplar boxes or wood planks on wheels.

Louis Vuitton’s LV Dream: A New Experience in Paris

Louis Vuitton’s LV Dream: A New Experience in Paris

“Those people who say money can’t buy happiness obviously never owned a Louis Vuitton purse”. — Anonymous

We’ve lined up patiently outside the chic Louis Vuitton flagship store on Avenue des Champs Elysées. Acquiring that limited edition purse, handbag, trunk, Speedy, Neverfull tote, Miss Vivienne… makes the wait well worthwhile. We’ve stood gazing in wonder at the monumental Fondation Louis Vuitton, designed by Frank Gehry.

Now, for the first time in Paris, for one year only, Louis Vuitton presents “LV Dream Space.” This chic pop-up marks the welcome evolution of the Pont Neuf district, beautifully located on the banks of the River Seine, which began with the transformation of La Samaritaine department store (circa 1870) and the Cheval Blanc Hotel (also owned by parent company, the luxury conglomerate LVMH).

tours louis vuitton

Open 7/7, LV Dream occupies a space located within the same building as Vuitton’s corporate offices, formerly home to the Conforama furniture store. (A Louis Vuitton branded luxury hotel is planned for the premises in the future — see BP’s recent “Letter from Paris.” ) LV Dream offers incredible interactive experiences throughout nine rooms, showcasing the collaboration and partnerships with artists, architects and avant garde designers such as Richard Prince, Jeff Koons, Takashi Murakami, Cindy Sherman and Yayoi Kusama. Look out for previously unseen portraits of Louis Vuitton by hip American figurative artist Alex Katz. Visits are free, but must be booked on the Vuitton website (see below).

Then, cherry on the gâteau , there’s the unique café and chocolate factory experience. Located on the first floor above the exhibition, these two spaces strut an industrial style embellished with tropical plants. Maxime Frédéric, the creative and talented young pastry chef at Cheval Blanc Paris, translates Louis Vuitton’s iconic motifs into entremets, éclairs and pastries, staged like works of art on a corrugated counter. Oh la la   !

In the chocolate factory, a curvilinear counter in natural oak is surrounded with stacked trunks, interspersed with niches to present the boxes of chocolate. Playing once again with the codes of the House, Maxime Frédéric has developed bars in the shape of, say, a Damier bag, Vivienne chocolate marshmallows, Monogram candies among other confectionery. These treats are beautifully packaged in saffron-colored boxes sealed with the signature blue ribbon.

tours louis vuitton

And then there’s the irresistible gift shop, resolutely organic and curvaceous, intended to be a chill-out space where visitors can discover exclusive objects related to the exhibition, such as address holders, cards, shopping bags stamped with the LV DREAM logo. I covet every item in the collection of small leather goods, accessories, perfumes etc.

The Back Story:

Founder of the iconic, wishlist brand Louis Vuitton , the legendary French fashion designer and businessman (1821-1892) was originally a box-maker and packer. Vuitton left home in the Jura region, eastern France, at the age of 13, walking the 292 miles to reach Paris, taking odd jobs en route to earn a crust. He reached the capital two years later where he was taken on as apprentice in the workshop of box-maker Monsieur Romain Marechal. Within a few years LV’s dedication and hard work gained him the reputation amongst Paris’s elite and fashionable class as a first-class designer. His fortunes and reputation rose when he was appointed “trunk-maker to Empress Eugénie de Montijo,” wife of Napoleon III. This position opened opportunities to a new class of a rich royal clientele and he opened his first boutique in 1854. The rest, as they say, is history.

This is one of Louis Vuitton's only American factories, and it specializes in fine leather goods given its location in Texas cattle country. While not normally open to the public, LVMH opened their facilities to guided tours for one weekend as part of their Les Journées Particulières, giving a fascinating look behind the scenes. Located pretty far from Fort Worth in the countryside, this ranch has attractive Western terrain with live oaks, cacti and thick brush alongside winding paved roads with street lamps leading to the large compound of stone and glass buildings with plenty of paved parking. The main entrance building has an attractive front desk and lounge decorated with Louis Vuitton purses and books leading to hallways of framed photos and artwork representing Louis Vuitton history. Once one goes through the enclosed walkway to the main factory there's a chamber with original steamer trunks on display along with a huge mascot statue, and then it's onto the rows and rows of sewing machines, leather working equipment and more. The tour was an excellent way to learn some of the history of the company and facility and learn their attention to detail. While there's no telling when such an event will happen again (I hope it's an annual tradition!), I definitely recommend jumping on it any time it's possible. The factory workers and other employees were so welcoming and informative, and it was well worth the drive from Austin.

In New York, Vuitton has transformed a seven-floor townhouse built in 1926 to present Crafting Dreams. The exhibition features top-drawer home goods (including monogrammed plates!), iconic trunks, fine jewelry, exotic leather bags, and made-to-measure salons. Additionally, it also boasts standout pieces of contemporary furniture and artwork, such as the brand's "Cocoon Chair" by the Campana Brothers and "Totem Lumineux" standing lamp. While the exhibition is still, at the end of the day, a retail play, the contents within can easily be a source of design inspiration. Each piece, both fashion and design wise, telegraphs the fine craftsmanship and whimsy motifs valued at Louis Vuitton.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Fondation Louis Vuitton, the museum and cultural center supported by LVMH that recently had a very buzzy Mark Rothko retrospective, has invited the artist Ernest Pignon-Ernest to present an exhibition for the Venice Biennale. Since the 1960s, Pignon-Ernest has touched on the notion of "the foreigner" and frequently uses migrants and poets as subjects. The exhibition features two new portraits of the poet Russian Anna Akhmatova and the Iranian Forough Farrokhzhad.

Fanny Perrier Brings New Viltier Paris Showroom to Life

Paris is famously always a good idea. So, if you find yourself there, it's worth visiting jewelry brand Viltier's new Parisian showroom located at 46 Rue de Verneuil on the Left Bank. Of course, their signature pieces are enough to draw attention, but the interiors of the new showroom designed by Fanny Perrier of Studio Perrier surely help.

a mirror on a wall

Inspired by the interiors of David Hicks and François Catroux, Perrier sought to evoke the eccentricities of the 1970s with bright colors and cheerful touches while contrasting antique and modern pieces. Some highlight furniture pieces include a marble console from Porta Romana, a zebra-print curule from Madeleine Castaing, and a 20th-century low chair inlaid with mother-of-pearl from Alain Demachy at Galerie Bellechasse29. The Dior Plissé couches in Viltier’s signature yellow hue were sourced from Baker Furniture and re-upholstered using fabric from Pierre Frey.

Three Questions With... Minnie Kemp of Kit Kemp Design Studio

The annual Kips Bay Decorator Show House is heading to New York City at the end of the month, and will find 24 interior designers from across the country transforming rooms within a townhouse on the Upper East Side in the name of charity. Ahead of the opening, the Kips Bay President's dinner took place at Ciprani 42nd Street, where Minnie Kemp, the design director of Kit Kemp Design Studio , donned a trompe l'oeil dress by Schiaparelli. There she gave a teaser to what her team has put together for the show house. T&C: What can we expect from the room at Kips Bay? Kemp: “A dining room of one’s own” is a space to wax lyrical with friends around a large dining table surrounded by color, art, and craft. I want you to feel transported to an English country house where the focal point is always a roaring fireplace. Tess Newall, a decorative artist from Sussex has been commissioned to create a mural that is representative of our love for all things Bloomsbury and we have been working with Tom Faulkner on a stunning “papillon” club fender upholstered in Kit Kemp x Christopher Farr “little weed” fabric. It’s a daring, unusual combination, but that’s what the Kit Kemp Design Studio is known for!

kit kemp design studio

T&C: Did you do any experimenting? Kemp: The walls are adorned with Kit's new fabric for GP&J Baker/Kravet “Front Row” in a jewel green color. This fabric design has a large repeat and was inspired by a textile kit found on her travels in Udaipur. It has taken almost two years to perfect the repeat, texture, and color combinations of the fabrics. I have also been experimenting a lot with wood; working with Schotten & Hansen wood specialists in Bavaria. The wainscot features my brand new collection of Douglas Fir veneers in bespoke colors. Experimenting with Torben Hansen in their workshop to create these bespoke colors was fascinating! I love the whistle and burrs of a working factory, seeing all the machines and piles of wood stacked, dusty dirty aprons and eyelashes with the thumping of steel-capped boots! T&C: What is the biggest challenge of Kips Bay? Kemp: All I can say is thank goodness we didn’t get a bathroom! The lead time is so tight, with only seven weeks to create the entire space, we had to knuckle down and call in a lot of favors to get the space complete in time. It’s pedal to the metal, but the Kips Bay team and sponsors have all been amazing! It’s all about teamwork and we are so lucky that we are surrounded by the best.

The collection showcased a daring fusion of bold patterns, striking silhouettes, and unexpected pairings, emblematic of Louis Vuitton’s relentless commitment to pushing the boundaries of fashion. From statement outerwear to sleek separates, each piece exuded a sense of individualistic modernity.

Collaborating with contemporary artist Sun Yitian, the collection also featured a lively color palette, symbolizing the resilience and vitality of Chinese youth. Highlighting Yitian’s representation of exotic animals, short and long fabrics intermingled while opposing prints and motifs created stark contrasts within each look. Accessories played a central role, with iconic Louis Vuitton pieces like the Petite Malle and the Twist undergoing modernized reinterpretations.

The jury might be out on method dressing , but its media impact is undeniable. Zendaya’s press tour outfits for Luca Guadagnino’s Challengers is a prime example of this; Vogue’s May cover star has amplified the film’s visibility while delivering major looks.

From the outset, Zendaya and her stylist Law Roach set a new standard in press tour fashion, with custom designs by Loewe, Jacquemus and Thom Browne, plus rare vintage finds from Ralph Lauren, Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton. Even the more understated looks by Brunello Cucinelli and Tory Burch have left a lasting impression.

Below, see all of Zendaya’s most unforgettable looks from the Challengers press tour. Game, set, match.

From Glambots to Tennis-Core, See Zendaya’s Best Red-Carpet Looks This Year

Photos of Zendaya

T here's no denying that 2024 has already been booked and busy for Zendaya . Since the year started, the Euphoria star has dominated the box office with her blockbuster sequel Dune: Part Two , nabbed not one, but two Vogue covers (the American and British editions), and been tapped to co-chair the annual (and very exclusive) Met Gala . This week, her latest and much anticipated film, Challengers , releases in theaters, putting Zendaya squarely in the spotlight as Tashi Duncan, a powerful tennis competitor at the center of a steamy love triangle.

Zendaya's many projects have translated into a plethora of red-carpet appearances and press calls, which, in turn, have resulted in a wealth of high-fashion serves from the actor and her longtime collaborator and "image architect," Law Roach . While Zendaya, a veritable style superstar, could always be counted on for a bold, experimental, and show-stopping sartorial moment, her current looks have elevated to an art the practice of dressing up for the press tour .

In Zendaya and Roach's capable hands, the themes of her movies cleverly translate into clothing, whether that's a futuristic silver glambot suit sourced from the Mugler archives for the London premiere of Dune: Part Two or a subversively preppy Thom Browne gown that riffs on tennis whites for the London premiere of Challengers. Her fashion choices feel less like promotion than they do an extension of her work as an artist, with clothes as her medium, which might explain why this year, watching her press tour has been almost as much fun as heading to theaters to watch her movies.

With that in mind, we've rounded up all of Zendaya's best looks from the red carpet so far in 2024.
