Australia Cruise Guide

Australia Circumnavigation Cruises

Want to go on a cruise around Australia? That's a "circumnavigation" cruise. Surprisingly, there aren't a lot of these "circle Australia" cruises available. It's a long voyage, and that limits the number of people who have the time to take it. All of the options are listed below.

Australia's major cities are on the coast, so a cruise round the continent is a natural way to explore. The cruises typically depart from Sydney and include stops at Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Darwin and more. Often they go to Tasmania and Bali too.

The map above is of a Holland America cruise round Australia.

Circumnavigate Australia Cruises 2024 & 2025

Australia – the land down under – each year becomes an even more popular cruise destination. Australia is a lot of things – a country, the largest island in the world, a continent. Home to 140 species of snakes, 32 sea snakes, and 10,000 species of spiders. There are also adorable koalas and kangaroos, the Great Barrier Reef, the Outback, and the famed Tasman Sea. With so much to see in this incredible place, it would be a shame to not see as much of it as possible when visiting. There are many cruises now that offer a full-circumnavigation of Australia. Let’s take a look at those cruise lines offering Circumnavigate Australia Cruises in 2024 & 2025.

All opinions are my own and do not necessarily represent those of my employer. This post contains affiliate links that I may receive a small commission on at no cost to you. All cruise prices listed below are current as of publishing. Port fees and taxes as well as gratuities may cost extra.

Which cruise lines offer Australian circumnavigation cruises?

In 2024 there are 6 Around Australia Cruises offering a full circumnavigation starting and ending in Australia. Several of these are sold out though but those cruise lines are offering comparable voyages in 2025.

  • 26 Day Round Australia – Princess Cruises 2024
  • 28 Day Round Australia – Princess Cruises 2025

Grand Voyage Australia 2025 | Silversea

  • Grand Australia Circumnavigation – Itinerary – Sydney to Sydney | Viking® (vikingcruises.com)

While there are similarities between all of these voyages – namely that they all circumnavigate Australia, and they all visit Sydney , there are a few differences between them – the most obvious would be the cruise line. Each cruise line offers a different experience, and while each of these cruise lines will offer the incredible opportunity to explore this country more in-depth, some of them are all-inclusive, all-suite, luxury lines whereas others are premium lines. Some require more formal attire and others are more laid back. And then, there’s also where else these cruises go. For many of these cruises there are additional stops in Indonesia – whether that be Bali or Komodo Island or they might include several overnight stays within their itineraries.

Around Australia Cruise Circumnavigation 2024-2025

Princess around australia cruise 2024 & 2025.

Princess is known for it’s strong presence cruising in Australia – whether that be with Sydney as a homeport to explore places near and far (including a world cruise every year offered round-trip from Sydney ), to voyages exploring Australia. Princess Cruises is currently offering the shortest Australian circumnavigation at 26 days in 2024. They are offering a very comparable itinerary in 2025 of 28 days. Let’s take a look at Princess around Australia cruise 2024 & 2025.

It’s also worth noting that both in 2024 and 2025 Princess Cruises is offering these voyages in February/March. This will be in the late summer or early fall in Australia and is different than many other lines that are offering these voyages in October/November.

The round-Australia cruise onboard Princess Cruises in 2024 will be offered on their ship the Coral Princess . In 2025 they will shift ships to have the Crown Princess offer this incredible voyage.

How Much Does a Princess Cruises Around Australia Circumnavigation Cruise Cost?

For their 2024 Round Australia voyage prices are starting at $3,978 for an oceanview room (interior is sold out). This does not include port fees and taxes (an additional $631). There is also the option to upgrade to Princess Plus right now for approximately $1,500 a person. While that $1,500 might seem like a hefty price tag per person, that includes a beverage package, Wi-Fi, crew appreciation (also known as crew gratuities), as well as premium desserts (2 per day), 2 casual dining meals (a designation for some of their specialty dining venues), OceanNow® delivery, and room service delivery.

The 2025 Australian Circumnavigation cruise is a bit less expensive actually as inside staterooms are still available. These are starting at $3,218 per person, plus port fees and taxes and there are also options to add on the Princess Plus plan to this voyage as well.

These itineraries will sail counter clock-wise round Australia. They will stop in major Australia ports like Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and Melbourne as well as smaller but equally exciting stops such as Cairns (for snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef), Broome, Albany, and several stops on the island of Tasmania. These voyages do not include any overnight stops.

A Bit About Princess

Princess will offer you incredible service at a reasonable price tag. You can expect some broadway style shows, live music, as well as additional guest entertainment like comedians and magicians onboard. Princess is also known to bring on local ambassadors to help you learn and understand more in depth the region that you’re sailing to.

Onboard it is a fairly relaxed atmosphere and while there will be a few dress-up nights throughout this voyage you do not need to bring your diamonds and pearls or tails to fit in as even on dress-up night it is somewhat relaxed.

Cunard 30-Night Australian Circumnavigation Cruise October 2024

Cunard has had a ship homeporting (the ships home base for a “season”) in Australia each year for quite a few years now. This is an impressive feat considering the Cunard fleet only has 3 ships in it (with a fourth, the lovely Queen Anne well underway and coming out soon). This means that a third of this cruise lines ship called Australia home for about half a year each year. While Cunard will be stop having a ship homeport in Australia for an entire season it is still committed to visiting this incredible and diverse place.

A Bit About Cunard

Cunard is classic cruising perfected. From afternoon tea to expansive libraries, gorgeous promenade decks, and classic formal nights, Cunard will deliver you the service and experience as if you were cruising back in the days of ocean liners, but with all the modern touches you would want and expect.

While Cunard is known for more formal and classic cruising, they have worked hard to include onboard offerings and opportunities for those not looking to get as dressed up and they now have several dining and entertainment options available on those more formal of occasions for those that would rather leave the beaded ball gowns at home. (I am personally quite the fan of a beaded ball gown – but I also understand the nights you just do not want to get dressed up!)

How Much Does Cunard’s Australian Circumnavigation Voyage Cost?

Cunard’s Round Australia voyage starts at $5,299 per person, plus port fees and taxes. Right now this is including their “Explore With More” promotion which includes additional specialty dining, onboard credit, and crew appreciation – and, depending on the category stateroom you book may also include an all-inclusive drinks package.

Cunard will take you all the way around Australia heading counter clockwise roundtrip from Sydney with the usual run of stops – Cairns, Darwin, Broome, Adelaide, Perth, and Albany just to name a few. However, it will also include a day in Bali, Indonesia as well as a few days exploring Tasmania before returning to Sydney, Australia.

Holland America Line’s 2024 35-Day Circle Australia Cruise

Holland America Line has leaned in – and leaned in hard – to these longer more immersive voyages. Offering an impressive collection of what they have termed Legendary Voyages and Grand Voyages each year. Among these Legendary and Grand Voyages include two options that circle Australia.

As part of their Legendary Voyage collection there is a 35 day Circle Australia Cruise. This cruise also includes multiple overnights making it a stand-out amongst the other Circle Australia voyages offered in 2024. Those overnight ports are Fremantle (Perth) and Hobart (in Tasmania), with a late sail in Adelaide.

A Bit About Holland America Line

Celebrating their 150th year in 2023, Holland America Line is both steeped in history and embracing those changes necessary to continue to remain relevant in 2023. Known for their service, food, itineraries, and cultural programs, they have also put a strong effort into their live music program and stage performances. This might not be the cruise line for big late night parties, but if you enjoy good food and live music it could be a great fit for you.

How Much Does Holland America Line’s Circle Australia Voyage 2024 Cost?

35-days for $4,874 per person are about $750 per person. This would be for an inside cabin going up to $40,859 per person for the Pinnacle Suite which includes access to the Neptune Lounge.

This itinerary begins by sailing north along the east coast of Australia including stops for the Great Barrier Reef. There is also a stop in Komodo Island in Indonesia. This is a great stop for folks as it gives them a chance to see the Komodo Dragons. After this the voyage continues its circumnavigation around Australia making its way to Broome, Exmouth, and more including overnights in Fremantle and Hobart.

Which Ship Will Sail Holland America Line’s Australian Circumnavigation Cruise in 2024

The beautiful m/s Westerdam part of Holland America Line’s Vista Class. This class holds a comfortable 1916 guests. This ship is known for it’s long, sleek, and elegant lines with a large number of verandah cabins onboard.

Oceania Cruises 2024 35-Day Australia Panorama Cruise

This voyage with Oceania Cruises couples Oceania’s impeccable service and food with a circumnavigation of Australia with an overnight in Bali. What could be better than that? Oceania Cruises has specialized in the luxury side of long and explorative voyages – having held the crown for the longest World Cruise (at 180 days) for many years.

A Bit About Oceania Cruises

Oceania Cruises is a luxury cruise line comprised of small to mid-sized ships. These ships offer a touch of opulence – with staircases that are reminiscent of that glorious staircase in Titanic. Designed to never feel crowded, the ships feel spacious. Additionally, they are known for including a lot in their product and consistently offering great promotions. Upon this writing (Dec 2023) for this voyage they were offering their “Simply More” promotion including 2 for 1 Cruise Fares, roundtrip airfare, airport transfers, shore excursion credits, champagne, wine, specialty dining, and unlimited Wi-Fi. If a luxury experience with what is known industry-wide as some of the best food at sea is something you’re interested in, it’s worth checking out Oceania Cruises.

How Much Does Oceania Cruises Australia Panorama, 35-Day Australia Circumnavigation Cruise Cost?

Oceania Cruises Australia circumnavigation cruise is offered for $7,999 per person. Or, their current special offer of $10,199 includes roundtrip airfare, $1,800 onboard credit, free champagne, wine, specialty dining, and unlimited Wi-Fi.

Which Ship Will Sail Oceania’s Australia Panorama Circumnavigation Cruise in 2024?

This circumnavigation cruise will happen onboard the luxurious Regatta . This ship holds just 670 guests, ensuring that passengers get the intimate small-ship experience of their dreams. It is also just under 600 feet long and only 30,277 tons which means it will be easy to get around and brings you even closer to the water and beauty of Australia.

Regatta offers Afternoon Tea, enrichment activities, a casino, nightly entertainment and live music, onboard bars and lounges, and a wellness at sea program at the Aquamar Spa + Vitality Center.

Silversea Grand Voyage Australian Circumnavigation Cruise 2025

Ultra-luxury cruise line Silversea will offer a 47 day roundtrip Australian Circumnavigation cruise. This voyage will be longer than the other circumnavigation cruises on this list. This cruise can be broken into smaller segments though for those not wanting to do the full circumnavigation. The first sails Melbourne to Darwin along the east coast and the second sails Darwin to Melbourne along the west coast.

One aspect that makes this voyage longer and also makes it quite special is that it includes overnight ports in Sydney, Cairns, Darwin, Broome, Fremantle (Perth), Adelaide, and Hobart, Tasmania.

A Bit About Silversea

Silversea is a ultra-luxury line, specializing in small-ship all-inclusive ultra luxury cruising. Onboard Silversea you can expect most drinks, dining, and gratuities to be included. It also includes airfare, transfers, one shore excursion per port, per day, luggage service, laundry service, Wi-Fi, medical service, and visa service.

Most of Silversea’s ships will include all suites and most having a private verandah.

How Much Does Silversea’s Grand Australia Voyage 2025 Cost?

As you might guess with so much included Silversea is priced a bit higher than the other voyages on this list. For the complete 47 night circumnavigation, it is $37,100 for a verandah suite.

Which Ship Will Sail the Silversea Grand Australia Voyage?

This voyage will sail on the Silver Nova. This ship is an all-suite ship with the lowest class of stateroom still being a verandah suite. It includes 10 onboard restaurants, many onboard bars and lounges, nightly music and entertainment, and enrichment programs.

Silver Nova is practically brand new, having joined their fleet in 2023. It holds 728 guests with a gross tonage of 54,700. This ship offers a tremendous amount of space onboard per passenger.

Viking Cruises 2025 Grand Australian Circumnavigation

Viking is technically offering two of these Grand Australia Circumnavigation voyages in 2025 – sort of. One of them will start on January 20th while the other is at the end of the year, starting on December 30th.

The itinerary on both are fairly similar and is a month long journey starting in Sydney and sailing along the east coast north and then continuing a counterclockwise circumnavigation. Being among the shorter of the circumnavigations it only features one overnight port throughout the cruise, in Bali, Indonesia. It does also feature one day in Komodo, Indonesia for those looking to see some dragons.

It includes Australian stops in Cairns, Darwin, Adelaide, Melbourne, Fremantle, and many others offering a really nice selection of ports around the country.

An exciting offering as part of this itinerary is that Viking offers one shore excursion included in every port. This is a huge benefit of the cruise and will allow you to explore the country so much more in depth.

A Bit About Viking

Luxury line Viking might be known for their expansive selection of river cruises but they also have an impressive array of ocean vessels featuring many longer and more intensive voyages – they are amongst the only cruise lines (with Cunard and Princess) to offer multiple ships sailing World Cruises every single year.

Known for excellent food and a nearly all-inclusive onboard environment (for instance beer, wine & soft drinks are included at lunch and dinner – but cocktails, whisky’s etc, are not included and after dinner drinks are extra) Viking has a loyal following for their incredible itineraries and service.

How Much Does Viking Cruises Grand Australia Circumnavigation Voyage Cost?

As would be expected with a luxury cruise line – especially one including shore excursions in every port – the price tag is a bit more than some others. The January sailing starts at $19,999 per person and the December sailing starts at $17,999 per person. Interestingly, their website includes a way to pay by e-check which could save you 3.3%.

Morning everyone, just wondering if anyone knows which Princess ship will be doing the Circumnavigation in October/November? Thought it was the Coral, but looks like it's off to Asia. Also, when will it go on sale and be available for bookings. Thanks, Anjo.

If you mean October/Nov 2022, it will be the Coral Princess . This cruise is on sale now and it always sells well.

Sorry. 2024.

OzKiwiJJ

I'm fairly certain it will be Coral. She has replaced Sea Princess as the Australian long cruise ship during our off seasons. Long cruises being the World Cruise, the two Hawaii/Tahiti cruises and the two Round Australia cruises each year. Then she homeports in Brisbane for our peak season.

I SO want to do this. But so far can't sell my DH on the long flight from Texas & the long cruise. Maybe some day. Have a great cruise. ♡

Thanks everyone. I think I may be confusing everyone, including myself 🤣 I am trying to find out details for the October 2024 Circumnavigation of Australia  Cruise  on Princess. When will it be released for bookings, what ship, etc. Thanks Anjo.

All I can tell you is that the April 2023 Circumnavigation of Australia cruise departing Sydney on the Coral Princess opened in mid-March 2021.  We (group of 4 siblings and spouses) requested 4 cabins in a specific section (covered mini-suites on Dolphin Deck aft).  My TA was on the phone as soon as Princess opened for elites and was able to reserve 3 cabins (not contiguous as we had hoped for) on Dolphin Deck and 1 guarantee on Caribe Deck.  It was amazing how quickly they sold out.  It has stayed that way for the past year!

It will be Coral Princess.

They might not release that itinerary until later this year - October or November.

Does anyone know if the October 2024 circumnavigation has been released yet, I can't find it on Princess website, the dates to filter for Oz cruises only go up to Aug 2024?

some of the reviews indicate the Coral Princess is old and tired. I would hate to spend 20 plus days on a ship with issues.

Haven't sailed Coral Princess since 2018 but did do two full canal transits on her - 2015 and 2018. Love the ship. We have a cabin we love even though it's an OV cabin. Coral also has our favorite show that is tailored for the revolving stage in the Universe Lounge. We would have no issue with sailing on Coral. In fact, we have a B2B2B in Australia and New Zealand scheduled for this fall on Grand Princess and were disappointed that it isn't on Coral Princess.

Oops I just realised I earlier logged in and posted under an old account with a defunct email so just posting here again to place mark.

Just for additional information, Majestic Princess does some lovely Oz itineraries! 😍

We.will be on the Coral for the circumnavigation in April.  I have been following all postings about the Coral on the Australian and New Zealand cruisers board since she resumed sailing and haven’t seen any comments to give me any concerns.  She is one of our favorite ships (along with the Sapphire Princess which we will be on for 32 days in April 2024).  This will be our 3rd cruise on her but the others were Alaska in 2007 and 2012 so it has been awhile.

@Thrak i absolutely agree about On the Bayou!  We can’t wait to see it again.

We love Coral Princess as well. Island Princess was the same until they added something like 125 cabins on the back where the theatre used to be. We haven’t personally been in island since then but I can’t imagine it being as nice as Coral Princess is. These were the two “PanaMax” ships built for the Panama Canal prior to the new locks opening which are wide enough for the new larger ships.

We have looked at doing this Around Australia cruise too but we are never organized enough to book years in advance. With such a popular cruise it is hard to figure why they don’t squeeze in another few sailings unless government limitations are the reason.

We sailed Island Princess as the next cruise after one of our Coral Princess sailings. That really put things in perspective. I definitely didn't care for Island. I kept "running out of ship" when I headed aft inside the ship and having the Promenade cut off as we headed aft outside was a major bummer. Sailing Island right after sailing Coral just emphasized the downside of the changes. (I did see On The Bayou on Island Princess but they did it in the main theater and it just wasn't at all the same.)

We go early and get a seat near the front. Then when the show starts I can turn around and look at all of the amazed expressions on the faces of everybody else since, as you know, it has an unusual intro. The surprised expressions on people's faces is great.

Thanks

We used to do the Island Princess from Vancouver to Whittier then stay on and do it all again in reverse back to Vancouver but that was before the major renovation. Ran into a couple having a major reno to their house in Vancouver who did that all summer long living on the cruise ship and every se line week they were home for a few hours to check in the progress!

The last time we were in Coral was a last minute Panama Canal cruise that we could have booked on either Coral or Island for the same price and there was 1 or 2 days difference in departure dates. There was no doubt which one we were booking. We book lots of deck 8 obstructed OV cabins and had one just around the corner from the aft stairwell so I could run out the cabin door, down 1 flight of stairs and into the back of the aft theatre to catch the comedian or whomever was on. Being a two level theatre an entrance to the theatre off 8 could be possible but I don’t think it is…too long ago now.

The Universe Lounge is indeed 2 levels but it's on Decks 6 and 7. The viewing from Deck 7 seating isn't the best in my opinion. The railing gets in the way. I like maybe the third row downstairs for watching On The Bayou . Deck 6 is where the entrance and exit happen for the show itself.

  • 4 weeks later...

Thanks for the reminder, I remember that now. I guess I ran down two flights of stairs to the lounge!

Does anyone know if it is better to do the Australia circumnavigation clockwise or anti-clockwise and the reasons?

I read something about this years ago and thought I'd saved it but didn't.

It seems some cruises do clockwise and some anti.

Google brings up nothing related to this on a cruise ship.

TIA for any help

Anticlockwise for October itineraries. The weather systems mostly come from the west across the Great Australian Bight. It's much more comfortable having following seas than head-on seas. We did this cruise last October and experienced some "interesting" seas around the south-west corner of Australia but Coral handled them very well. It's usually very calm across the top of Australia at that time of year.

However sometimes the March/April ones go clockwise which is OK at that time of year. Up north it's still the tail end of our cyclone season.

The Best New Cruises in the World: 2024 Hot List

By CNT Editors

Image may contain Boat Transportation Vehicle Cruise Ship and Ship

It’s inevitable: Every spring when we pull together the Hot List , our annual collection of the world’s best new hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships, a staffer remarks that this latest iteration has got to be the best one ever. After a year’s worth of traveling the globe—to stay the night at a converted farmhouse in the middle of an olive grove outside Marrakech , or sail aboard a beloved cruise line’s inaugural Antarctic voyage—it’s easy to see why we get attached. But this year’s Hot List, our 28th edition, might really be the best one ever. It’s certainly our most diverse, featuring not only a hotel suite that was once Winston Churchill’s office, but also the world’s largest cruise ship and restaurants from Cape Town to Bali. We were surprised and inspired by this year’s honorees, and we know you will be too. These are the Hot List cruise winners for 2024.

Celebrity Ascent — Celebrity Cruises Arrow

Celebrity is a premium big-ship cruise brand, focusing on exquisite dining, cutting-edge amenities, Instagram-worthy public spaces chock-full of bespoke art pieces, and avant-garde onboard entertainment. The ship makes passengers feel, in a word, glamorous. Celebrity Ascent ’s sumptuously designed interiors are flooded with natural light and evoke an air of playful sophistication that make a week on board an escape worth cherishing. Passengers may find themselves longing to return for just one more succulent crab claw at Raw on 5, one more martini poured by bottle-spinning bartenders in the Martini Bar, or one more dazzling, acrobatic stage show, in the days following their farewells to this beautiful ship. From $710 per person for a seven-night sailing. —Scott Laird

Emerald Sakara — Emerald Cruises Arrow

Now with two oceangoing vessels joining Emerald’s more established fleet of nine river-dedicated “Star-Ships,” the decade-old cruise line is extending a brand built on unpretentious luxury to more corners of the world. Christened last August, the 100-guest superyacht, Sakara, is a near twin to Azzurra, which in 2022 ushered in a new era for Emerald by taking to the high seas. Sakara, like its sister, delightfully blurs the line between the luxury and ultra-luxury cruise categories, offering attentive service, gourmet cuisine, tasteful decor, and an eclectic slate of activities at a price point friendly to more budgets. The cherry on top with both superyachts is a slew of perks atypical of small-ship sailing, ranging from an impressively comprehensive spa to a marina platform well equipped for more fun in the sun. Despite having so much good stuff, each vessel is remarkably spacious. Getting a sense of being on a private yacht is easy like Sunday morning. Sakara is homeported in the Caribbean and the Mediterranean through at least March 2026; Azzurra, too, in addition to the Middle East, Kenya, and the Seychelles. Emerald’s river operations are based in Europe and Southeast Asia. (Note that a third ship, the Kaia , has just been announced by the cruise line; it debuts in April 2026, and, for all the early birds, it is now open for bookings.) From $3,850. —David Dickstein

Explora I — Explora Journeys Arrow

With a showpiece lobby bar, upscale restaurants, and a sultry infinity pool, Explora Journeys' relaxed luxury-resort-at-sea vibe strikes the perfect balance on Explora I. Launched in August 2023, the all-inclusive ship is disarmingly beautiful. A sleek navy blue exterior cocoons 461 suites, all with deep balconies, walk-in closets, and marble bathrooms. There is free-flowing Champagne, 7,500 square feet of wellness space, and 18 drinking and dining venues. From Emporium Marketplace, with its decadent raw bar, to pan-Asian restaurant Sakura, the dining on Explora I is sensational. Marble & Co. Grill is an intimate steakhouse where aging meats hang in temperature-controlled cabinets. At Anthology, the ship's only supplementary restaurant, guest chefs—such as Claude Le Tohic of San Francisco's O' by Claude Le Tohic—curate sublime tasting menus. There's more: The only Rolex boutique at sea, huge hot tubs, and a shore program that sees some land experiences developed in partnership with revered explorer Mike Horn. From $698 per person per night. —Kerry Spencer

Icon of the Seas — Royal Caribbean International Arrow

Aboard the Icon, you can really get lost. The behemoth is just plain big, with capacity for nearly 8,000 when combining passengers and crew across 20 decks and 250,800 gross tons. Two and a half laps around the ship’s jogging track, a particular highlight onboard, and you’ve run a mile. So one can find themselves in need of a map—forgetting your sunscreen, for example, in your cabin is a bit of a chore depending on how far you’ve made it. But the abundance of things to do is also narcotic, and you feel a bit like a lotus-eater attempting to navigate it all while keeping your head. Amid the relentless entertainment, not to be missed are the top-notch performers present everywhere, from the Olympic-level aquatics show that you can watch from the windows of the specialty seafood restaurant should seating be elusive (it often is) to the cafeteria, where crew members dressed as food items sing songs reminding (commanding, actually, which is fabulous) passengers to wash their hands at sinks near the entrance. If you wish to enjoy the largest waterpark at sea, by the way, do what I did not and pack a swimsuit without zippers. From $2,249. —Charlie Hobbs

MSC Euribia — MSC Cruises Arrow

Looking at a row of cruise ships in port, you'll spot MSC Euribia right away. She's covered bow to stern by an ocean-themed mural by German artist Alex Flämig that bears the hashtag #SaveTheSeas nodding to the MSC's dedication to sustainable cruising: the European cruise line aims to be net-zero by 2050. MSC Euribia brings it one step closer to that goal, as it's the fleet's greenest ship yet, operating on liquified natural gas (LNG) and running advanced water and waste treatment systems onboard. But enough with the technical details—this mega-ship is packed with activities and entertainment, with 10 restaurants, 21 bars, five pools, two performance venues, and a bevy of family-friendly amenities, like an F1 simulator, a waterpark, and a bowling alley. More adult-oriented highlights include the MSC Aurea Spa, with a thermal suite outfitted with thalassotherapy pools, a salt cave, and a snow room, as well as the Helios Wine Maker bar for wine tastings. From $519. —Stefanie Waldek

Norwegian Viva — Norwegian Cruise Line Arrow

The second entry in Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Prima Class, Viva is like an Irish twin of older sister Prima . There’s the same stateroom count at 1,586, done in pristine and pleasing neutrals, as well as familiarly tricked-out amenities like the zippy 1,400-foot go-kart racing track that undulates over the top decks. Importantly, the Ocean Walk, which my colleague Mercedes Bleth adored aboard the Prima, remains. But round two afforded the premier name in large-ship cruising a chance to tweak and perfect, with an influx of seating options both in the ship’s complimentary dining hall as well as on its myriad decks. Across from the signature “zero-waste” Metropolitan Bar, where yummy drinks are whipped up from the ship’s food waste (I particularly enjoy a buttery Croissant Mai-Tai, for which hardening pastries are boiled down into sweetening syrup; the same is done with banana peels) is an interactive piece of digital art 52 feet wide that sees butterflies flit beside passersby. Breezy class all around. From $979. —Charlie Hobbs

Oceania Vista — Oceania Cruises Arrow

Vista, Oceania’s first new ship in more than a decade and the first of its Allura Class, debuted with small but mighty upgrades to its previous ships: better stabilizers for a smoother sailing experience; stronger Wi-Fi; lighting and architecture designed to make the ship’s common spaces look and feel roomier; a resort-like pool deck; and balconies in every cabin. The real star of the show, though, is the food and beverage experience— Vista ’s culinary program delivers on its promise of top-quality venues you’ll want to make the rounds at. New to the lineup are Ember, a steakhouse with decor straight out of Napa Valley, and Aquamar Kitchen, serving up lighter fare that doesn’t skimp on taste. Celebrate a birthday, an anniversary, or a just-because occasion with the Cellar Masters Wine Luncheon, a five-course meal and wine pairing. And don’t miss the elaborate sea day brunch, where towers of lobster, crab, and caviar await. Of course, the ship is just one destination. This year Vista is splitting time between the Mediterranean and the Caribbean; next year it will venture farther into Europe with ports of call like Istanbul, Stockholm, and Klaipeda, Lithuania. Its sister ship, Allura, sets sail in 2025 From $2,699. —Madison Flager

Scenic Eclipse II — Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours Arrow

The eagerly awaited Scenic Eclipse II is the new and improved version of Scenic's first expedition vessel, Scenic Eclipse . Dubbed "discovery yachts" for their sleek look and top-tier service, the sisters are nearly identical, with most changes so subtle that most guests might not even notice them, such as the slight enlargement of the steam room in the spa. But a big difference can be found on deck 10, where a plunge pool with jets for simulated lap swimming has taken the place of two hot tubs—and there's a new Sky Bar up here. Otherwise, Scenic Eclipse II has the same beloved amenities of its sister, most notably 10 exceptional dining experiences, from a sushi bar to a French restaurant with an attached Champagne bar; a 5,920-square-foot spa; two helicopters; and a submersible. Capable of sailing all over the world, including the polar regions, Scenic Eclipse II has itineraries for every type of traveler. From $7,455. —Stefanie Waldek

Seabourn Pursuit — Seabourn Cruise Line Arrow

Pursuit is a small “yacht-like” expedition ship with a distinct green exterior whose destinations range from Antarctica to warmer climes like the Kimberley in Australia. The decadent cabins, bigger than some standard hotel rooms, feel spacious and relaxing, complete with all the subtle touches that make you feel immediately at home. You can hang your evening attire in the walk-in closet and dry your wet swimwear—or damp Arctic expedition gear—in the built-in warming compartment; have sunrise breakfasts or sunset cocktails mixed at the in-room wet bar on your private balcony; and sleep in a plush, queen-sized bed. But what truly sets this cruise apart is the attentive and personable staff who quickly learn your name and personal preferences, providing VIP treatment throughout the journey. Seven Seas Grandeur — Regent Seven Seas Cruises Arrow

Ports in the Caribbean, the Greek Isles, and the Riviera might be the draw, but the all-inclusive luxury line Regent Seven Seas Cruises produces ships that have travelers looking forward to those days at sea, as its sixth offering, Grandeur, further proves. All of the 372 suites, which start at a roomy 307 square feet, are decorated in calming neutral blues and beige, and feature furnished balconies; most have L'Occitane bubbles for the marble tub. Quiet comfort can also be had in the Serene Spa & Wellness outdoor lounge area, following a massage on a quartz crystal bed that mimics the feel of warm sand. Cravings for a porterhouse or a vegetarian Salisbury steak can be sated by Prime 7, with other venues serving specialty pan-Asian cuisine, French fare, ample buffets, and Italian offerings. Mainstay Compass Rose has been reimagined as a light, airy space where diners breakfast under playfully elegant pillars that resemble crystal trees. Grandeur 's whimsy extends to its reception area, where guests can check out Journey in Jewels, the Fabergé egg made specifically for the vessel, where it will remain for the rest of its jeweled ovoid days. The maximum number of 744 guests ensures unhurried service and uncrowded environs as you recover from a sunny day of swimming with Caribbean pigs. From $4,699 . —Alexandra Sanidad

Silver Nova — Silversea Cruises Arrow

A voyage on Silversea’s latest ship, Silver Nova, is one of taste and style. With expansive glass features throughout each of the 11 decks, and an ocean-facing saltwater swimming pool, the ship’s unique asymmetrical design leaves room for adults to run and play (with swank, of course). The Nova ’s reimagined culinary experience, SALT (Sea and Land Taste), is the first large-scale, regional restaurant at sea, and acts as an invitation to guests to experience more than an excursion. While initially introduced on Silver Moon, the Nova ’s SALT program includes SALT Lab by day: an intimate cooking class with highly acclaimed chefs and regional cuisine recipes inspired by the next destination. With one nightly seating, SALT Chef's Table offers an exclusive and creatively interactive dining experience. It’s all very intimate—as chefs showcase the art of their crafts firsthand, guests peek into a new culture, and place, before even disembarking. From $3,050. —Jessica Chapel

Viking Aton — Viking River Cruises Arrow

In the style of all Viking ships, the Rottet Studio–designed Aton is intended for comfortable and thought-provoking exploration—just look to the book-filled shelves in the cabins, curated by London’s Heywood Hill library, and the revolving door of on-board lecturers (on my trip, an English curator spoke about the evolving depictions of Egypt in 1900s popular art). It should be no surprise that in a destination as rich and storied as Egypt’s Nile, where the Aton is permanently based, the guides set apart what may read as a quintessential itinerary. On the Pharaohs & Pyramids journey, which takes travelers from the Valley of the Kings, where King Tut lies, to the Great Pyramid of Giza and well beyond over 12 days, esteemed Egyptologists oscillate from translating hieroglyphics on temple walls in real time, to shepherding travelers through modern night markets with endless fervor. On this ship it isn’t just what you see but how much you listen—and the team here, predominantly Egyptian, has much to say. These days, travelers crave perspective-altering experiences more than ever; get on the Aton and you’ll get once-in-a-lifetime access (until, that is, your next Aton sailing). Compared with its sister ships, the newest Virgin Voyages addition includes upgraded onboard entertainment and exciting new ports of call like the Greek Islands, Bali, and Mumbai. Most of the shows on this specific ship are new to the line, such as Persephone, an interactive performance developed in collaboration with famed Brooklyn nightclub House of Yes, and Another Rose, an immersive dinner experience. Dining options are abundant on the ship—20-plus to be exact—and all of them are included with every passenger ticket. World Voyager — Atlas Ocean Voyages Arrow

There are superbly comfortable spaces and floor-to-ceiling windows aplenty on World Voyager, the latest vessel from Atlas Ocean Voyages. On an Antarctica expedition, from the sauna or the spa’s relaxation room, with its heated loungers perfectly positioned in front of a wall of glass, you might watch turquoise icebergs float by. Back in your cozy stateroom, Champagne and strawberries await, as do the views from a Juliet or walkout balcony. The look throughout the 100 cabins and public spaces is Scandinavian modern, thanks to blond woods, marble floors, plush carpets in geometric patterns, and curvaceous furniture draped in velvety fabrics. In the elegant dining room, the focus is on international cuisine with a farm-to-table slant—think mushroom risotto and smoked duck with chargrilled vegetables. Meanwhile, the multipage cocktail menu beckons guests to a pair of spacious lounges. Blending yacht-style elegance and boutique-resort intimacy, this is a ship where you can make new friends easily but also retreat to a favorite spot to enjoy high tea in peaceful solitude while awaiting details from the crew on the adventures that lie ahead. Cruise vacations are a wonderful way to visit multiple destinations in one trip and unpack only once. And while cruises may not give people multiple days in each destination, it acts as a sampler for people to discover new places that they may possibly want to return to later.

Top Luxury Cruise Destinations

Knowing when to visit and what to explore can help people make the right decision for which to cruise take. The Caribbean and Mexico are the most common cruise destinations that people may think of, there are plenty of other bucket list destinations worth exploring. Here are some of the most popular among them and some of the latest news in the cruise industry .

1. Mediterranean

Villefranche-sur-mer on the French Riviera in summer

From Spain to Turkey and everywhere in between, these are highly popular sailings that can book up quickly. The best time to travel is during the summer months when the most ships are sailing in the Mediterranean, but prepare for hot weather. Many cruise lines move their ships to the Caribbean during the winter months.

The Spanish coastline, French Riviera, Amalfi Coast, Greek islands and Turkish ports are some of the highlight destinations on these routes. Among the busiest departure ports for these cruises are Athens, Rome (Civitavecchia) and Barcelona, and some travelers like to extend their cruise with a pre- or post-cruise stay in these cities. Taking a cruise here is a great way to visit many countries in one trip.

Ilma will sail its inaugural season in the Mediterranean.

Among the new ships in the region for this year is Silversea’s Silver Ray, the second in the Nova class for the line. The new Sun Princess from Princess Cruises started sailing the Med this year. The second yacht in the Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is Ilma, which will start sailing in the Mediterranean later this year. Also new for the season is the National Geographic Day Tours sailings from Holland America that give travelers the change to sail with a National Geographic trained guide and explore ports with an expert.

MSC World Europa is the first Liquified Natural Gas-fueled ship in the company's fleet. The company ... [+] has a goal to achieve net-zero greenhouse-gas emissions for its entire fleet.

MSC Euribia and MSC World Europa are two of the most popular ships to sail in the region. The European-based company is especially appealing for travelers because its ships board new passengers every day unlike other cruises that start and end on a particular date. This schedule flexibility means travelers can choose which ports where they want to embark. Its ships have numerous specialty restaurants, engaging theater shows and family-friendly pool areas.

Another cruise line, SeaDream, operates differently than other companies by arriving in busy ports in the afternoon when most other cruise passengers are reboarding their ships. SeaDream then stays until midnight, or sometimes overnight, to give travelers the chance to explore without “people pollution.”

2. Australia and New Zealand

The famous Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge

These cruises showcase some of the top destinations down under. The best time to take a cruise is between December and February, which is summer in the Southern Hemisphere. The weather can be quite warm, but it is an ideal time to see major cities like Sydney and Auckland, explore the Great Barrier Reef or the Kimberley region on the Australian west coast. For those that want to extend their trip, they can visit major tourist sights like Ayers Rock in the center of the country and wine country regions in both countries.

The Kimberley region in Australia is a new destination for Seabourn.

New for the season is Seabourn Pursuit, which will sail the Kimberley region, the first time Seabourn visits the region. To honor the new itinerary, the cruise line named the Western Kimberley traditional land owners, the Wunambal Gaambera Aboriginal Corporation, as godparents of Seabourn Pursuit . Crystal Serenity and Crystal Symphony, part of the Abercrombie & Kent brand, will sail around both countries this spring.

Oceania Cruises is known for its overnight stays in cities in the South Pacific including Melbourne and Bali in Indonesia .

Glacier Bay National Park and the Hubbard Glacier are top sights on an Alaska cruise sailing, which is best during the spring and summer months when the temperatures are not frigid. Sailings typically take place between April and October. Holland America is a leader in this part of the world, but many cruise lines send their ships here for the dramatic scenery. This is one of those ideal trips for a multi-generational trip.

Edge is one of the newest ships in the cruise line's fleet.

New for the season is Celebrity Edge, a dramatic ship with a cantilevered bar and restaurant known as the Magic Carpet and attached to the side of the ships and can be lowered closer to sea level for an up-close look at stunning glaciers. Among the top news for Alaska’s cruise ports is a new cruise terminal in the state capital, Juneau, and a new 28-day sailing from Holland America. Don’t miss the new seasonal drink “Killer Whale Pale Ale,” which Holland America is launching this year on its Alaska sailings.

Cruises are the most common way to visit Antarctica, and there are all kinds of ships of varying sizes and price points. These are typically not cheap trips, but it is one of the most bucket list trips you can take. The cruise season in Antarctica is between November and February, which is summer in the Southern Hemisphere. Don’t be fooled though, it will still be cold.

These sailings give passengers the chance to set foot on this remote continent amid massive glaciers and snow-covered mountains. Bird spotting and thousands of penguins are just some of the animal life people will see. Many travelers like to take the Arctic plunge when they jump into the frigid water for a brief second.

Scenic Eclipse II has its own helicopter.

Atlas Ocean just christened two Polar ships that will sail from Patagonia to Antarctica. Seabourn Venture is an expedition ship that was christened in Antarctica and is a great way to enjoy nature without giving up luxury. Don’t miss Scenic Eclipse II, which is an elegant yacht that comes equipped with a helicopter for birds eye views and a submarine for fisheye photo opps.

5. Panama Canal

The Panama Canal has cruise and cargo ships passing through.

Going through the locks of the Panama Canal gives travelers an up-close experience of this architectural marvel. Between November and April, taking a cruise around Central America and passing through the canal is ideal since temperatures are not as hot and humid as the summer. Some cruise lines move their ships between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans when they change destinations for the season. A popular itinerary is Viking’s Classic Panama Canal Passage, which sails from Fort Lauderdale through the canal and visits Mexico, Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras and Panama.

A pair of Star Clippers ships

If you’ve done the Panama Canal cruise, consider a Suez Canal sailing, which explores the Greek Islands before crossing the canal to visit ports in Egypt. Guests can take an excursion to visit the Pyramids, which is a highlight of this itinerary. Star Clippers takes its majestic sailing ships with tall white masts on these trips. If you want a true sailing experience, Star Clippers is a great option.

An aerial view of the fishing boats in Zanzibar

Taking a cruise to ports along Africa’s coastline is a great way to visit multiple places without worrying about getting difficult visas for each country or finding a comfortable place to say. There are many different itineraries including around the southern tip to ports of South Africa, Namibia and Mozambique. Others visit remote islands like Madagascar, Mauritius, Zanzibar and the Seychelles.

Azamara Quest visits the west coast of Africa.

The best time to visit is in the spring and fall as this means temperatures are not as hot as summer and also when cruise lines make these itineraries as they move ships to different regions. One of the most exciting (and quick to sell out) sailings is along parts of the west coast of the continent visiting places like the Bissagos Island chain, Sao Tome and Principe, Benin, Senegal and Gambia. Many travelers like to tack on a safari before or after their sailing.

Azamara Quest and Norwegian Sky are two of the most popular cruise ships that make these sailings. Azamara is known for its itineraries that remain in ports until late in the evening or even overnight giving travelers more time in each destination. For the 2025-2026 cruise season, Oceania Cruises will add new overnight stays in Mauritius, too.

Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam

Spotting the Northern Lights or sailing through panoramic fjords is often best experienced by ship. Holland America’s Nieuw Statendam sails through the Nordic countries during the summer months, the best time to visit the region since temperatures are not as cold. The newly launched Queen Anne from Cunard, which takes its first sailing in May, will sail around the British Islands and make its way to Norway to explore the fjords.

Hurtigruten Expeditions, a Norwegian company, operates its own series of sailings all along the coastline. The cruise line got its start here operating ferry ships bringing mail, supplies and other goods to remote parts of the country. Many of them also carry passengers that want to experience a smaller ship that visits different towns while also sailing through the fjords.

A Viking cruise ship sailing through the Norwegian fjords.

Another Nordic brand famous for its river and cruise ships is Viking, which operates its luxury ships carrying just under 1,000 passengers on signature itineraries like “Viking Homeland.” Viking Vela is one of the ships to make this journey, and Viking sailings are all-inclusive with drinks, all meals at specialty restaurants and excursions making it a great way to visit this region.

8. The Galapagos Islands

Galapagos sea lions (Zalophus wollebaeki) are sunbathing in the last sunlight at the beach of ... [+] Espanola island, Galapagos Islands in the Pacific Ocean. This species of sea lion is endemic at the Galapagos islands; In the background one of the typical tourist yachts is visible. Wildlife shot.

Sailing between these Ecuadorian islands is beautiful for the bird watching and animal spotting from the region’s famous tortoises, iguanas and penguins. Cruise ships in this region are limited in size by regulations to preserve the marine environment. Hurtigruten Santa Cruz II is one of the larger ships that operates several itineraries in the archipelago.

Celebrity Flora is based in the Galapagos Islands.

Among the most luxurious ships sailing the islands is Celebrity Flora, a purpose-built ship for the Galapagos with cabanas on its top deck, a marine biology exploration center and beautiful cabins with electronically controlled windows that allow cabins to feel larger.

Nicole Kidman’s Family Guide: Meet Her Children With Keith Urban and Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidmans Family Guide Meet Her Children With Keith Urban and Tom Cruise

Nicole Kidman ’s greatest role isn’t on the big or small screen. Instead, it’s being the best mom possible to her four children.

“I just always wanted a child,” Nicole, 56, told Vogue Australia in December 2017. “I think from a very early age, I wanted a child. I knew that I was going to have a child and that it didn’t matter [how], I actually didn’t know if I was ever going to give birth to a child. So that was the least of it for me. And what I did first was adopt.”

In 1993, the Big Little Lies actress became a mom for the first time when she and her first husband Tom Cruise adopted their daughter, Bella. A few years later, the pair adopted son Connor into their family.

After the couple divorced in 2001, Kidman went on to find love with country singer and fellow Australian Keith Urban . The pair married in 2016 and welcomed daughters Sunday and Faith.

“If it were the choice between my family and Keith, and my career, I wouldn’t even bat an eyelid,” she told The Australia Women’s Weekly in June 2014. “The most important things to me are the love of our relationship and my children. At this stage of my life, and with time being so precious, the joy I get from us as a family outweighs any joy in any other area of my life, by far.”

Tom, 61, and Nicole adopted daughter Bella shortly after her birth in December 1992.

“From the minute Tom and I were married, I wanted to have babies,” Nicole told Vanity Fair in 2007. “And we lost a baby early on, so that was really very traumatic. And that’s when we would adopt [our daughter] Bella.”

While she was raised outside of the spotlight, Bella graduated from West London’s Delmar Academy of Make-up and Hair, before transitioning to a career in fashion.

Although Bella has an active Instagram , followers shouldn’t expect her to share family moments. Instead, it’s primarily dedicated to her art.

“Her go-to medium was pen and paper for most of her life,” her website states . “However, she is now venturing into other formats and mediums. Including digital. Which has been a bit of a game changer in her opinion. We hope you dig it.”

Connor Cruise, 29

Nicole and Tom, who wed in 1990, adopted their second child just after his birth in January 1995. In 2008, Connor got a glimpse of the Hollywood spotlight when he starred alongside Will Smith in the drama Seven Pounds . As a teenager, he briefly explored DJ gigs and released a single before making Florida his home.

Although Nicole and Tom divorced six years after their wedding, the actress expressed gratitude for the relationship and the family they created. “I got married really fast and really young,” she told Who Magazine in 2012. “But I don’t regret that because it got me Bella and Connor and I did have a fantastic marriage for a long period.”

According to People , Connor currently resides in the Sunshine State where he fishes and focuses on his barbecuing business, Connor’s Meatshack. “Connor has a pretty simple life in Clearwater,” a source told the publication. “He lives in his own home in a Scientology community. His life is deep-sea fishing. He has a lot of friends and seems very well-liked.”

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 15

Named in honor of the Australian patron of the arts, Sunday Reed, Sunday was born in July 2008 and spent much of her childhood with parents Nicole and Keith, 56, in Tennessee. “My daughters are Nashvillians! They have a southern drawl,” Nicole told People in 2016. “They have some Aussie. They have an unusual mix. They’re hybrids.”

Nicole has dropped hints that Sunday is interested in following in mom’s footsteps. In addition to showing an interest in directing, she’s also participated in theater.

“My daughter just got cast in her school play,” Nicole told E! News in January 2017. “So, that’s been the main priority, learning lines with her.”

And for those who wanted a season 3 of Big Little Lies , Sunday may be responsible for making it possible.

“She has a very good understanding of things and life, so she was hand-held through it,” Nicole revealed to Vogue Australia in January 2024. “She was like, ‘No. There’s no more discussion. The third series has to happen … I’m sick of the talk. Sick of circling it. Just get it done.’”

Faith Margaret Kidman Urban, 13

In December 2010, Nicole and Keith surprised fans when they welcomed Faith via gestational surrogate.

It wasn’t until April 2024, however, when Faith and her older sister made their red carpet debut at the AFI Life Achievement Award Gala, where their mom was the evening’s honoree.

In an interview with Today , Nicole expressed hopes that she was raising her daughters to be outspoken and strong. “So much is stepping aside and letting them become who they are,” she explained. “I don’t know if I’m teaching that as much as giving them their voices. I let them negotiate so they get a sense of who they are and what they can achieve and accomplish.”
