Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour

The Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour is 45.5 mm in diameter. It comes in two versions: one in stainless steel (shown here) and one in Hublot’s special 18-karat gold alloy with a higher-than-normal platinum content, known as “King Gold” (see below). Some sections of the case are polished while others are microblasted. This combination of finishes allows for the special design of the bezel. A spade, club, heart and diamond ornament its cardinal points.

Through the skeletonized dial, one can see the inner workings of the Unico caliber. A four-hertz automatic flyback chronograph, the HUB 1242 Unico movement has a column wheel and double clutch that can be seen through the dial. It has a 72-hour power reserve. The watch runs in 38 jewels and has 330 components. Hovering above the movement, small seconds are displayed at 9 o’clock. The counter at 3 o’clock shows the chronograph minutes, as well as a date aperture on its right side. Hour markers, Arabic numerals and the hour and minutes hands are coated in a deep red Super-LumiNova. The counter rings, numeral outlines and hands are plated in rhodium on the steel version and in rose gold on the King Gold version. The case is affixed with six titanium screws, each shaped into an H. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters.

The Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour has nonreflective sapphire crystals on both the front and back of the case. The front crystal has the Hublot name and logo affixed to it; the caseback features the World Poker Tour logo. The watch signals Hublot’s new partnership with World Poker Tour. The brand will serve as official timekeeper and official watch of WPT’s international poker circuit. Hublot CEO Ricardo Guadalupe presented the watch at the World Poker Tour’s Five Diamond World Poker Classic tournament at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.

The steel version of the Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour is available in a limited edition of 200 pieces, each individually numbered. It costs $25,200. There are just 100 pieces of the King Gold version, which costs $45,900. Each watch comes with three hybrid straps made of alligator stitched to a rubber underside. The straps can be easily inserted and removed via Hublot’s “one-click” system on the lugs. The King Gold has straps in red, black and gold treatment, all with rose gold deployant buckles. The steel version has red, black, and silver-treated straps, with the buckle in steel as well.

Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour Watch Hands-On

This Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour is probably one of the most “Vegas” Hublot watches I have ever seen. Writing that, I realized that “Las Vegas” can mean different things to different people at different times. There is glitzy Las Vegas, weddings Las Vegas, Elvis impersonator Las Vegas, diamond and jewelry Las Vegas, etc…  So with its connection to the World Poker Tour and the glam of winning big in Las Vegas, for me, the Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour edition watch set is for people who are real or imagined Las Vegas celebrities.

Why do I say this? Well, look at those shiny straps offered in either silver or gold color to match the case material. Look at the playing card inspired bezel symbols. Look at the bright red accents which include the hands and hour markers. And of course, look at the fact that the base piece is a Hublot Big Bang Unico 45mm. This is all about bold, in-your-face, styling and a less than subtle “look at me” philosophy to what you are wearing. Certainly, this doesn’t match what everyone is looking for all the time, but in a world where attention can be a virtue – luxury or otherwise – Hublot is a king.

It is thus very fitting, in my opinion, that Hublot inaugurate its relationship with the World Poker Tour with such a watch. Hublot will be the official watch, as well as the official timekeeper of the World Poker Tour’s events, such as the Five Star Diamond World Poker Classic event. The winner of which will receive a unique Hublot watch next year. So why poker and why the World Poker Tour?

Like all sponsorship/endorsement deals for watch brands like Hublot, it is about eyes and awareness. Hublot not only wants to be a desirable item for the many people who play games like poker “professionally” but also for the many fans and casual poker players. Hublot has an interest in connecting its brand name with activities where actual and aspirational luxury consumers spend their time and attention. More so, poker has become a huge spectator sport. The World Poker Tour’s events are televised and viewed by a lot of people. Interestingly enough, poker is now considered a form of “sport,” and show on channels such as Fox Sports. Hublot is gaining the eyeballs of all the people who spend time following poker events – and that is a win for a brand that is all about showing off.

We can enter a long debate on the virtues of being conspicuous when it comes to displaying luxury goods. There are times when I really do want an understated timepieces, but there are other times when I crave the visceral fun of an Hublot. It isn’t that Hublot doesn’t take itself seriously – they do. It is, rather, that Hublot is simply not particularly conservative in their choice of designs or partnerships – at least not compared to its watch world colleagues. Most people who work with or at Hublot don’t even understand the purpose or wisdom behind all of the brands partnerships over the years. If something Hublot does seems silly to you – chances are that someone at headquarters might feel the same way. Nevertheless, there is a method to their madness and relationships – and Hublot’s commercial success is the proof. The point, however, is that there are enough interesting partnerships and watches to keep you entertained – and isn’t it really all about entertainment at the end of the day, when it comes to collecting watches?

When in Vegas, certain things seem appropriate that would be totally out of place in other cities. The Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour is one of those watches. It is as uniquely Las Vegas as Hublot is unique in the world of luxury watches – and each is a limited edition that starts with the very cool Hublot Big Bang Unico 45mm watch (hands-on here) . The 45mm (45.5mm) wide case in this instance is produced from either steel or 18k King Gold, and has a unique bezel design which should speak loudly to the world of poker and other games that use playing cards. The rear of the watch has the logo of the World Poker Tour printed on the sapphire crystal caseback window.

Inside the watch is the in-house made Hublot caliber HUB 1242 Unico automatic movement. I really like this movement a lot for its design and reported very good performance when measured with the competition. The movement has a 60 minute flyback chronograph and date indicator on the dial in addition to the time. Operating at 4Hz, the movement has 72 hours of power reserve. Even though the watch dial is skeletonized in order to view the movement, the red color helps the Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour watch to be surprisingly legible.

I feel like I need to wear one of those shiny blazers to really pull of this watch. Outside of performers in Las Vegas, who can get away with wearing those? Good thing that the Hublot Big Bang Unico is designed with quick release straps which can be changed with something a bit more demure. Still, I am sure a lot of people who get one of these watches will make good mileage out of the shown silver or gold tone straps. Hublot actually includes three strap choices with each Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour watch – which also includes a black and red strap with each version.

With 100 meters of water resistance, the Hublot Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour is something you can even go swimming in. I am just thinking about all the activities a wild night in Las Vegas after playing a lot of poker can yield. Poker players have a reputation for something losing grasp on the value of money – so service providers in Las Vegas love them for being big tippers and spenders. So it is not out of the question to consider that some of them are going to have adventures with an Hublot that may consider acquiring.

While the Hublot Big Bang Unico is one of my favorite current watches in the Hublot line-up, I don’t think it is a particular surprise that the World Poker Tour version wouldn’t be my first choice. I find it amusing and fun – and very much the right watch for the right type of people. I am actually happy Hublot went so over-the-top with the colors and styling, because doing anything less would just seem too boring. Hublot’s biggest issue with each of its new partnerships is matching them with cool watches that genuinely feel special enough – regardless of whether they appeal to the mainstream or not. In fact, I think it is very clear that Hublot is not aiming to appeal to the mainstream – and that is something which I personally respect a lot.

Hublot Big Bang UNICO World Poker Tour Review

Hublot hits the jackpot with their recent partnership WPT partnership.

Hublot plays an intelligent hand by partnering with the World Poker Tour in a high-stakes, winner-takes-all game of strategic brand placement with their Big Bang UNICO WPT Limited Edition.

Hublot has been on a winning streak by putting their brand in the spotlight through collaborations with the likes of the NFL, NBA, the FIFA World Cup and other high profile brands such as Ferrari. In a meeting with Hublot's top executives, he was informed that this partnership and sponsorship has turned the WPT president into a high profile brand ambassador for the luxury Swiss watch brand.

Hublot pulled triple aces by introducing the new Big Bang UNICO limited edition that comes complete with three different color straps; red, black and gold …the colors associated with the game.

The limited and numbered edition of the watch features the WPT logo on the sapphire crystal case back and the case and matching chronograph buttons are made of Hublot's KING gold, their proprietary hue of rose gold. The watch case features classic poker iconography with the spade, heart, diamond and club and the skeleton dial gives you a clear view of the movement, the 38 jewel caliber UNICO HUB1242 which is comprised of 330 components with a huge power reserve of 72 hours. That's enough juice to last through a three day long high stakes game…. that and a few red bulls, that is.

Hublot Enters the Poker World with a Bang

At first glance, luxury watch brand Hublot may appear to have little in common with the world of professional poker. Think for a bit though, and the parallels become apparent. Like big-time poker pros, Hublot’s Chairman Jean-Claude Biver and CEO Ricardo Guadalupe are not afraid of risk. Together, they have fueled Hublot’s rebirth and meteoric rise with a series of often groundbreaking, always high-octane, sporting partnerships. When the duo spies an opportunity, they go all in, often risking millions, and Hublot usually leaves the table a winner.

Against that background, Hublot and the World Poker Tour (WPT) are natural partners, and what better place to announce the news that they are joining forces than the WPT’s prestigious Five Diamond World Poker Classic, hosted by the luxurious Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. Hublot CEO Gaudalupe (below right) and WTP President Adam Pliska welcomed us to the launch party.

The party was held at the Bellagio’s prestigious Hyde nightclub. Professional poker players mingled with guests, and following the VIP introductions and remarks, some serious poker action got underway. Gaudalupe and Pliska anted up with seasoned poker pros at a private table set against the open-air backdrop of the famous Bellagio fountains and the Las Vegas strip. During our one-on-one, Guadalupe told Revolution that he played poker actively when he was a student. Just like on TV, WPT’s own Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patton offered commentary. It was truly an evening to remember.

Hublot reveals Big Bang World Poker Tour watch

Hublot becomes the official timekeeper and watch of the WPT (World Poker Tour) honoring the world of gambling with the Big Bang Unico WPT wristwatch.

Now the official timer of the World Poker Tour , the Swiss watchmaker is marking its tie-up with the prestigious international circuit with a wristwatch honoring the game: the Big Bang Unico World Poker Tour.

Designed for card players, of course, this timepiece borrows a number of details from the deck, including a bezel in 18K King Gold or steel (polished or sandblasted finish) with a heart, a club, a spade and a diamond.

With a diameter of 45.5mm, in 18K King Gold or in steel, the case houses a Unico automatic chronograph movement manufactured by HUBLOT .

Poker enthusiasts can take advantage of the model’s two sub-dials: a minutes counter at 3 o’clock and a running seconds counter at 9 o’clock. The date window is also at 3 o’clock.

The back of the watch reveals the World Poker Tour logo, a detail commemorating the brand’s partnership with the gaming event.

Will it be easy to find my way in the Moscow Metro? It is a question many visitors ask themselves before hitting the streets of the Russian capital. As metro is the main means of transport in Moscow – fast, reliable and safe – having some skills in using it will help make your visit more successful and smooth. On top of this, it is the most beautiful metro in the world !

. There are over 220 stations and 15 lines in the Moscow Metro. It is open from 6 am to 1 am. Trains come very frequently: during the rush hour you won't wait for more than 90 seconds! Distances between stations are quite long – 1,5 to 2 or even 3 kilometers. Metro runs inside the city borders only. To get to the airport you will need to take an onground train - Aeroexpress.

RATES AND TICKETS

Paper ticket A fee is fixed and does not depend on how far you go. There are tickets for a number of trips: 1, 2 or 60 trips; or for a number of days: 1, 3 days or a month. Your trips are recorded on a paper ticket. Ifyou buy a ticket for several trips you can share it with your traveling partner passing it from one to the other at the turnstile.

On every station there is cashier and machines (you can switch it to English). Cards and cash are accepted. 1 trip - 55 RUB 2 trips - 110 RUB

The cheapest way to travel is buying Troyka card . It is a plastic card you can top up for any amount at the machine or at the ticket office. With it every trip costs 38 RUB in the metro and 21 RUB in a bus. You can get the card in any ticket office. Be prepared to leave a deposit of 50 RUB. You can get it back returning the card to the cashier.

One turnstile at every station accept PayPass and payments with phones. It has a sticker with the logos and located next to the security's cabin.

At the platfrom you will see one of these signs.

It indicates the line you are at now (line 6), shows the direction train run and the final stations. Numbers below there are of those lines you can change from this line.

In trains, stations are announced in Russian and English. In newer trains there are also visual indication of there you are on the line.

To change lines look for these signs. This one shows the way to line 2.
