What types of suites are available on P&O Cruises Britannia? I’ve broken down each suite for you in this guide, so keep reading to find out which one is best for you. If you’re interested in sailing in a suite aboard P&O cruises – I’ve also created a similar guide for the best suites on Iona.

Why chose a suite on P&O cruises Britannia?

A suite is a great option for families because of the space it offers. The spacious lounge and balcony are perfect for sharing and socialising or for having a cosy night in catching up on some favourite shows or films on the large screen TVs. A suite can also be a perfect romantic getaway for couples too with privacy and added luxurious touches.

The Best Suites on P&O Cruises Britannia

What are the different types on P&O Cruises Britannia?

Simply put, suites aboard Britannia vary on two main aspects: location on the ship and size of the balcony. Depending on your preference, one might be more of a priority for you.

Technically, there are 4 grades of suite on Britannia (B1, B2, B4 and B5) situated on a variety of decks. However, I clumped these into four main categories based on location and balcony size:

  • Forward Suites: these are right at the front of the ship with side-facing balconies and forward-facing windows.
  • Mid Ship Suites these are all on B deck with side-facing balconies. Balconies are the same depth as a standard balcony but double the width.
  • Aft Suites there are two suites right at the back of the ship on B deck which have backward-facing balconies. These balconies are slightly deeper than the Midship and Forward Suite balconies.
  • Wrap Around Aft Suites these are right at the back of the ship with wrap-around balconies and are the largest balconies on ship.

There are a few pros and cons to each type of suite and depending on your preferences (vive la difference) you’re bound to find one which suits you perfectly.

A deck plan of the suites aboard P&O Cruises Britannia can be found here

Forward Suites on P&O Cruises Britannia

These are right at the front of the ship with side-facing balconies and forward-facing windows (forward suites). These suites can be found right at the front of the ship. (See photo, below).

Suites: C101, C102, D101, D102, E101, E102, F101 F102

The benefits of these suites are that they have some of the most spacious interior space onboard.

As the interior space dominates in these suites, they are great for having the neighbours over for canapés and drinks, or for securing a Captain’s eye view of the journey ahead as these suites all face forward and are located under the bridge.

The main bedroom in these forward suites benefits from a forward-facing window; a few hours could easily melt away in one of the comfy chairs, looking out to sea.

P&O Britannia Forward Suites

As you’re right at the front of the ship, the Epicurean restaurant is very close by (where breakfast is served, exclusively for suite guests). Another benefit is that to get the these suites, you’re likely to use the forward lifts – which tend to be less busy than the mid ship lifts.

Britannia

Two of these forward suites (C101 and C102) have balconies which are directly under the bridge (Which has a large over-hang – see photo below). Therefore these balconies may be shaded in the middle of the day. While this might be a benefit for some, it might also be a dealbreaker for sun-worshipers.

A couple of things to consider when choosing forward suites is that as you’re right at the front of the ship, you might experience some more movement than mid ship suites. In rougher seas this might become more pronounced the higher up you are (C deck suites will be the highest).

One other thing to consider if you’re booking a forward suite and travelling with younger kids, is the schlep right to the back of the ship for the Reef (kids club, on Deck 19). I guarantee it will certainly get your step count up (it’ll be over half a kilometre for a return trip). So if you don’t fancy this, then pick an aft or midship suite instead.

Britannia

Mid Ship Suites on P&O Cruises Britannia

These are all on B deck with side-facing balconies. The suite balconies are the same depth as a standard balcony on all the other decks, but mid ship suite balconies are double the width (See photo, below).

Suites: B434, B435, B436, B437, B438, B439, B503, B504, B505, B506, B509, B510, B511, B522, B523, B524, B525, B528, B533, B603, B604, B605, B606, B609, B610, B614, B615, B622, B623, B624, B625, B626, B627, B701, B702, B703, B704, B705, B706

Britannia

Midship suite all have the same layout  (with the exception of Suites  B626  and  B627  which are the only two adapted suites on the ship).  These suites start at the middle of the ship and continue towards the aft, the ones pictured above and underlined in red are mid-aft suites.

B Deck is where most of the suites cluster on board Britannia . So, this tends to be the busiest deck for the butlers (although I’ve never heard anyone who’s stayed in one of these suites ever complain about slow service).

Aft Suites on P&O Cruises Britannia

There are two suites are right at the back of the ship which have backward-facing balconies which are slightly deeper than Midship and Forward Suite balconies (See photo, below).

Suites: B723, B724

These two aft suites look over the wake at the back of the ship and benefit from slightly deeper balconies when compared to the midship and forward-facing suites. As they are at the back of the ship, and quite high up, you might experience slightly more movement than midship suites or those on lower decks).

One other thing to note (not shown in the model above) is that these suites now have a canopy installed (since the 2019 refit) and may be more shaded as a result. So, if you like uninterrupted mid-day sun then you might find a different suite might be a better option.

Britannia

Wrap Around Aft Suites on P&O Cruises Britannia

These suites are right at the back of the ship with wrap-around balconies and boast the largest balconies on the ship.

Suites: A726, A727, B726, B727, C736, C737, D738, D739, E742, E743, F730, F731, G732, G733

These large, wraparound balconies come into their own on warmer climate cruises (this was a big selling point for me). If you want to to see a quick tour around the suite we stayed, the video is below.

Their balconies wrap around the back of the ship and provide fantastic views. They also benefit from the soft, calming white noise and views of the ships wake.

As these suites are right at the back of the ship, just as with the forward suites, you might experience slightly more movement in rougher seas than mid ship suites and this might be even more pronounced the higher up you go (towards A deck).

Location-wise, the aft suites (B743, B724 included) are really convenient for the Reef (kids clubs) on Deck 19 and the Oriental Restaurant (Deck 6).

Its worth bearing in mind that if you’re opting for an aft suite, there is a bit of a trek for breakfast in the Epicurean as you will need to walk down the whole length of the ship to get there (approx. 300m each way). The good thing is by the time you make journey back to your cabin after an Epicurean breakfast, you will have walked over half a kilometre!

Britannia

Aft Suites and cabins on A and B deck also now have a canopy in place. So, if midday sun is your thing, you may be disappointed by the amount of shade now afforded by these newly installed canopies. If you don’t mind the shade and like to be high up with an embarrassment of balcony space, then these are these suites might be perfect for you.

Another thing to be aware of is that some passengers have previously noticed one or two spots of soot on the aft suite balconies. This depends on the speed the ship is sailing and wind direction, but I understand the 2019 refit has made some adjustments to eliminate this.

If you want to see what else is on offer on this beautiful ship, Laura at Cruiselifestyle.co.uk has put together this highly informative tour of Britannia.

Aft suites G732 and G733 are the only suites on G deck. There are perfectly situated for quick and easy access to the Oriental Restaurant and Live lounge.

As these suites are situated directly above the Live Lounge, you might hear low base tones from the nightclub below the small hours. So, if you’re light sleeper and prefer to turn in early, you might want to choose a suite perhaps on the deck above for this reason.

On the other hand, if you’re likely to be found in the Live Lounge until the small hours, this is probably the suite for you. I guarantee it’ll be the cheapest and quickest journey home from a night club you’ll even take (just one flight of stairs).

So, there it is – your run down of the main types of suite aboard Britannia.

We enjoyed our holiday in spacious, suite with all the perks. While it came at a price I can honestly say it was worth every single penny and the perfect suite for us.

Wherever you choose she is a truly amazing and elegant ship. Enjoy your cruise!

“As we step into the next chapter of Cunard’s storied history, Queen Anne provides a platform to evolve the future of the brand and bring reimagined Cunard signature experiences… appealing to both our existing loyal guests and those sailing with us for the first time.” Matt Gleaves, Cunard VP, Commercial – North America and Australasia.

The luxurious suites and popular Britannia Balcony Staterooms will all take on a bold, modern decor. The accommodation designs are influenced by Cunard’s unique heritage. Indeed, the design teams immersed themselves in the Cunard Archives in Liverpool, U.K. They took inspiration from iconic poster advertisements, brochure covers and the line’s famous deco vessels.

So it goes without saying that the design of Queen Anne is an evolution, rather than being a revolutionary break from the past.

These top-of-the-range suites will be luxe apartments at sea. Both stylish and spacious, they will be ideal for entertaining friends on board.

Grand and Master Suites will boast a deco decor in subtle shades of green, purple, taupe and grey. There will also be dark wood and marble highlights.

Grand Suites will have direct access to an oversized balcony (rendering).

It’s worth noting that each of these six suites will be named after an iconic waterway significant to Cunard’s history including Mersey, Solent, Boston, Hudson, Halifax and Clyde.

Queens Grill (first class on Cunard) will evolve with a bold, art deco design. The cruise line tell us there will be luxurious materials in deep shades of purple and dark wood. It is sure to create a sense of refined relaxation and refinement.

Spacious Queens Suites will be a haven of tranquility on Queens Anne (rendering).

Queens Grill guests are sure to appreciate the new suite designs with their clean lines and artisan inspired furnishings.

The cruise line tell us the luxurious Princess Grill suites will have a decor in Cunard red with gold tones and warm wooden furnishings. More details about the decor of Princess Grill suites is to come.

The Britannia Club Staterooms can be likened to premium economy, offering an enhanced level of comfort and service. Indeed, the 162 Club staterooms all have balconies. Not to mention paper-cut frame artwork as well as bespoke bedside lights and in-built USB ports.

In addition, guests staying in Club staterooms have exclusive access to their own dining room – the Britannia Club Restaurant. Positioned midship next to the Grand Lobby, the restaurant has breath-taking panoramic ocean views. Just like in Queens Grill, Britannia Club guests will have their own dedicated table, reserved exclusively for the duration of their voyage.

Most guests on Queen Anne will stay in a Britannia Balcony Stateroom . These rooms will have a deco-inspired modern decor, with deep blue highlights and splashes of gold. There will also be a new writing desk and mini bar setup, something sure to be please Cunard regulars.

Already planning to see the next solar eclipse in 2026? What travelers need to know.

Umbraphiles feeling the post-eclipse blues should start checking the expiration date on their passports.

The next total solar eclipse is set to happen on Aug. 12, 2026 over Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Russia and a small part of Portugal, according to NASA .

In North America, only a partial eclipse will be visible, so if April’s event made you an eclipse chaser and you want to see totality, you’ll need to head overseas.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

Here’s what you’ll need to know before packing your bags.

Do you need a passport or visa for the best destination?

The path of totality for the 2026 eclipse mostly goes through places Americans can travel visa-free with their passport, so long as they’re planning to stay for less than 90 days.

Spain, Portugal, Iceland and Greenland all allow visa-free tourist travel for U.S. passport holders.

Spain, Portugal and Iceland are also members of the Schengen Area, which allows for visa-free travel in much of Europe, meaning if you decide to make a multi-country trip out of your eclipse adventure, you won’t need to clear customs if you’re coming from much of the rest of Europe, either.

One major change for travelers to Europe from the U.S., however, is that electronic preauthorization will become a requirement beginning in mid-2025. The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) requirement will apply to all four open countries in the path of totality.

Depending on the state of the Ukraine war, travel to Russia may or may not be an option for most Americans by 2026, so it’s unclear what the paperwork requirements will be by then.

Is it better to see it from the beach?

Beaches can be a great place to see the eclipse because there are few natural obstacles blocking observers’ views of the sky. The 2026 path of totality passes over beaches on Spain’s northern and southeastern coasts, as well as over islands in the Mediterranean Sea including Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza. The eclipse will also pass over coastal areas in Greenland and Iceland, according to the National Solar Observatory .

Cruising Altitude: What it was like to see the eclipse from a plane

Will there be eclipse cruises or flights?

Almost certainly, although most operators have not announced specific plans yet.

Cruise lines will also offer more viewing opportunities. Princess Cruises “has created a bespoke itinerary aboard Sky Princess to position the ship near Spain on that date,” according to a spokesperson for the line. The cruise will open for bookings on Princess’s website on May 23.

Cunard Line has sailings on its Queen Mary 2 , Queen Victoria and Queen Anne vessels that will put passengers in prime spots to watch .

'The ship can move': Why you should watch next solar eclipses from a cruise ship

Holland America Line is also planning multiple sailings around the event, though details are still to be announced. “Guests have reacted positively to our 2024 eclipse cruises and with the next full eclipse in 2026 we plan to have three sailings in Europe that will align with the path of the eclipse,” Paul Grigsby, the line's Vice President of Deployment & Itinerary Planning, previously told USA TODAY in an email.

This article originally appeared on USA TODAY: Already planning to see the next solar eclipse in 2026? What travelers need to know.

We managed to stretch our $12,000 European vacation budget to cover first-class plane tickets and a 12-night cruise. Here's how.

  • Allie Hubers, a freelance travel writer, spent $20,000 on cruises in 2022.
  • A two-week trip to Europe with her husband, which cost $12,000, was the most expensive one.
  • She breaks down all of the costs, including flights, hotels, the cruise, dining, and more.

Insider Today

This as-told-to story is based on a conversation with Allie Hubers , a 29-year-old freelance travel writer. It's been edited for length and clarity. Business Insider verified Hubers' expenses.

My husband Luke and I met in college at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota during our sophomore year. We have traveled together over the past 10 years, including trips to Europe , Asia, and Africa, and hopped on cruises around countries like Morocco, Thailand, Malaysia, Croatia, and Italy.

I'm a freelance travel writer, and Luke is a pilot with the US Air Force. He's been flying since he was 16. We both have high levels of wanderlust and traveling together is how we keep our marriage strong.

We allocate a budget to travel every month and our favorite way to travel is cruising . In 2022, we spent a total of $20,000 on cruises. The most expensive trip we went on was a 12-night cruise around Europe .

At the time, Luke had just returned from a months-long deployment, so we wanted to spend some quality time together. We had a $12,000 budget, which included the cruise , first-class airfare, tickets to an Ed Sheeran concert, and hotel stays. We had been saving for this trip for years. Here is a a breakdown of our budget.

Cost of plane tickets: $4,000

We spent $1,200 each on economy tickets with Delta Air Lines from Florida to London. We ended up upgrading to first-class Delta One the night before our flight. The upgrade cost $800 each. We hadn't taken a special trip together for years, so the splurge was well worth it.

This isn't standard for us, but an enticing upgrade offer was too tempting to turn down.

Cost of concert tickets: $476

Luke and I are big fans of Ed Sheeran . He was playing a set in Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. We snagged general admission tickets for around $116 each.

We both love his song "Tenerife Sea." When we first met in college, we added Tenerife — an island in Spain — to our bucket list. We ended up going to Tenerife during our 12-night cruise, and it was just as beautiful as the song made it out to be.

Related stories

We also got tickets for Imagine Dragons at the last minute, and those tickets were $244.

Cost of hotel stays: $621

During our trip, we stayed in four hotels. We spent two nights at The Edition, a five-star hotel near Soho in London . While a night's stay at The Edition costs around $670, we used 60,000 Marriott points each night and didn't have to pay cash.

We also spent a night at The Montcalm East Autograph in London for $350 and our last night at the Renaissance London Heathrow for $111 before flying back to the US.

To attend Ed Sheeran's concert, we spent a night at Newcastle Marriott Hotel Metrocenter, which cost $160. When we returned to London, we spent a night at Bankside Autograph Collection, a luxury hotel near the River Thames. A night's stay there costs around $600, but we used 45,000 Marriott points and redeemed our stay for free.

Cost of the 12-night cruise: $2,800

The 12-night cruise on Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas was $2,800 for the two of us. We initially booked an interior cabin , the cheapest room category, and ended up getting upgraded to an obstructed balcony room a few days before sailing. The upgrade ended up being free.

Stops along the cruise included Spain's Canary Islands, including Tenerife, and Lisbon in Portugal. We spent our days exploring new countries, having seaside cocktails, and reconnecting after so much time apart.

Cost of food and transportation: $2,055

We went on a three-night dining package for $240. On board the cruise, we purchased two specialty dining meals and on Chef's Table experience for $574. In total, including what we spent on food in London, we spent around $1,170 on dining out, coffee, and drinks.

Transportation took a big chunk of our budget. Ubers, taxis, and scooters cost a total of $528. We rented a car to get us to and from the concert venue for $186, with gas costing around $40. We also took the train to get around, and that amounted to $131.

Miscellaneous costs: $2,000

We spent $639 on souvenirs, gifts, and shopping . On board the cruise, excursions weren't free, so it cost us $214 for two excursions in the Canary Islands. Other expenses included internet on the cruise for $374 and roaming with T-Mobile for $103.

We also flew my sister to Florida to watch the dogs and provided her with a meal service for two weeks. That cost a total of $670.

There was no skimping or budgeting for this trip. We had no regrets about the money we spent on this cruise vacation.
