A sweltering summer evening in Charlotte, NC brought 15-time GRAMMY®…

A Superb Experience: Opening night of The Alicia Keys World Tour

A sweltering summer evening in Charlotte, NC brought 15-time GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter (actor, philanthropist, activist) Alicia Keys and Pinks Sweat$ out to vibe with the filled CMCU Amphitheater (Livenation) . Coming off a three-month sold-out European arena tour, Ms. Keys kicked off the 2022 ‘The Alicia + Keys World Tour’ with a packed house.  The tour is Prince-esque inspired by the legend’s mentor and long-time friend, the goliath of legends himself.  The once-in-a-lifetime tour is steam-rolling the USA and will culminate in Tennessee in mid-September.

CMCUA1

Along with the R&B songstress and her band, was opener Pink Sweat$. His debut album, Pink Planet , was released in February 2021, Tonight he was joined by guitarist Russ. Their sound can be explained in a few intimate details of the show;  toe tapping, finger snapping, vanilla cigar smoking, hook singing, and empathetic humanitarian pauses. As soon as lead vocalist David Bowden opened up the show, his sultry vocals were comparable to a 90’s Maxwell with new wave sass. The performance gave way to a great time to dance, sweat, and get primed for a once-in-a-lifetime show. In the first song we were posed to clap to the beat, second roused to sing the hook, but there we were entwined in a snap-a-thon and shout for the lovers attending this night.

Pink Sweat$5

Pink Sweat$ minimal stage set-up sounded like a full stage placement.  There was a mic, a singer, and an acoustic-based guitar. During the later part of a song, a fan had a slight accident and they stopped the concert momentarily to check on the patron to claps from the fans. The fan was tended to promptly by the Livenation staff and walked to his seat and was reported to be doing better a few songs into the concert. The band amped the show back up to perform their songs “Honesty,” “Pink City,” and “At My Worst” which was described as when at your lowest you want someone to love you then not just to keep you from it.

They ended the show with a crowd repeated affirmation “ You are loved, you are enough, you are blessed,”  and heart fingers. The sound was on point and I find I will be seeing them again soon.

Pink Sweat$2

Alicia Keys: When she hit the scene in the late 90s , her voice and fresh face came during a beckoning call for an authentic talent. It was the time of cookie-cutter pop boy bands and factory-made divas with killer vocals but lacking in drive without billion-dollar music moguls behind them. While she had the best of soul, she still stuck out of the crowd going her own way after they tried to have her write with her record label’s people. She hated the tedious and art-lacking organic process. In a small apartment in Harlem, she bought her own equipment and learned to record and tweak all the steps to a fully recorded song herself. Later, she apprenticed behind the scenes with talented producers and composers and found herself.  Zoom forward to tonight.

Alicia Crowd 2

Opening night the air was thick and the crowd sweaty, you see a silhouette burst into the middle of the stage and it’s on. The bass-heavy extravaganza is coming and you feel it deep within your bones as it vibrates your soul. Her organic vocals beam through the mic at levels of CD perfection with little to no backing vocals. Unusual for such a powerful voice – artists need to save those pipes! This go around she chose glamorous amounts of shiny things in her costuming, and her classic beautiful braids. Her emblematic piano lay on a runner that moved from side to side of the stage depending on if she was playing or running around. We heard classics like “Girl on Fire” and “Fallin;”, and mid-set she disappeared to images of her home base NY on the large back of the stage. The whole thing was an LED setup. As the images played she emerged on a stage set-up at the back of the venue that reminded me of a club DJ round table. The lawn patrons got an up close and personal view of Ms. Keys and she mentioned how wonderful it was to be so close to the fans again.

Alicia 3

Seen and Heard:

An amazing array of hairstyles. Yes, this is odd to comment on, but I cannot tell you enough how amazing it was to see this. One girl had her hair in a nest with an actual 3D bird made of paper mache in it.  I’ll also comment on some bald beauties rocking that shine to accent their swagger. Artistry is in clothing, hair, music, and presence. As we all sweat our last drop into the Charlotte air, the sun had set and the lights burned bright into the skyline reminding us how very much a song, an album, a tour….an artist can touch our lives.

Alice herself touched on many of her influences including Michael Jackson and the main man Prince. She got down and did the robot with a very theatrically set keyboard solo with futuristic laser beams shooting behind her and her entire band getting down.

Alicia 2

The crowd was an eclectic bunch; of all ages. Alicia called herself a concert sister to a young child close to the front who announced it was their first concert. She powered through the remainder of the concert beaming

What an amazing night and what an amazing connection we shared. My spirit has been calling me to bring us all closer together. Tonight is exactly what touring should feel like after we’ve all been disconnected for so long. I’m deeply thankful to Charlotte for a magical night.”

Some added sights and sounds to the night were:

  • Rotating pianos.
  • The crowd is loose and selfie driven. Energy wasters. She said no more. I vibrate with this message.
  • Ready to let go. The mostly seated crowd stood to their feet to be mesmerized by talent magnified. Seasoned legend on the biggest stages now here with us for a night.
  • Then we did]song votes: original or remix version she played and did 4 of them Nighttime at the Apollo style.
  • Gorgeous stage clothes.
  • Blues in the piano.
  • Soul in the fingers.
  • A night to remember.

Alicia 6

If you are not lucky enough to see one of the 31 tour dates, you are definitely in luck with an infinite number of songs and collaborations to jam to.

She’s worked with some of the best in the industry and a favorite collaboration that is on one of my YouTube rotations is with Shutter alum John Mayer.

Other notable collaborations: with Justin Timberlake, Patti Smith, Mary J. Blige, David Bowie, Bono, Beyonce, and Adele, sometimes I feel this list is growing and endless.

We’ve also been treated to the gift of her penning songs from big status artists such as; Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Hudson, Maxwell, Jay-Z, Mario, Pitbull, Whitney Houston, Usher, 50 Cent, Ludacris, and Drake (and more!) The tour is one of a kind for an experience to spend the night with a legend who has donned the stage for decades now. Enjoyed, embraced, expanded her craft, and when the time comes you will not be sorry standing in that arena.

Alicia Keys Announces Summer Tour Openers

by Tiffany Goldstein May 12, 2023, 10:30 am

Alicia Keys is hitting the road, and “No One” would believe who she’s bringing.

Videos by American Songwriter

The 15-time Grammy winner has announced the openers for her KEYS TO THE SUMMER TOUR . Cameroonian-American Afrobeats singer Libianca and Nigerian artist Simi will directly support the international superstar.

The run will commence on June 28, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and wrap up in early August. The “Girl on Fire” singer is scheduled to hit massive markets throughout North America, such as Chicago, Los Angeles, Austin, New York, and many more.

Libianca, known for hit songs “People,” “Everything I Wanted,” and “WOMAN,” will appear on select dates. Alicia keys is soulful and sensational, she can get the crowd on their feet and she can also get them sat down listening as she hits every note perfectly as she hammers out her beautiful ballads. You may think you don't know many of her songs but tune after tune you scream " I know this song". As much as she is a soulful singer she can also play the piano thrashing them keys to make the songs come alive and wow does she make a party swing. We all have our favourite songs but mine has got to be "one" although not accompanied by U2 it still sounds awesome with her backing singers. Her dancers are hot and sassy and that is just the men but she has fun with her dancers and although not one to chat for ever during her set she does interact with the crowd.

Towards the end of her set when she sang Empire State of mind / New York the roof lifted ... So tickets were reasonable priced, the set was long and the quality of the artist was spot on.... Don't miss out next time Alicia tours - you won't be disappointed.

Alicia Keys set for rare Memphis concert appearance: Here's what to expect

alicia keys world tour opening act

A busy summer concert season for Memphis continues in early July with a performance by R&B/pop songstress Alicia Keys at FedExForum , part of her Keys to the Summer Tour .

Keys, the 42-year-old New York City native, is one of the most acclaimed and honored artists of her generation. A winner of 15 Grammy awards , the singer, songwriter and pianist has released nine studio albums and sold some 60 million records worldwide over the course of her career.

In 2020 and 2021 she released the companion albums, “Alicia” and “Keys.” Last year, she put out a Christmas album, "Santa Baby." This year, Keys had her entire catalog mixed in the immersive audio format Dolby Atmos, and she’s just released five new live albums documenting performances from her recent tour of South America.

Alicia Keys in Memphis

Although she’s been touring and performing for more than 20 years, Keys has only played the Bluff City twice before. She made her local debut in 2001, during the Songs in A Minor Tour, with a show at Downtown’s Orpheum . Her second and most recent performance came some 15 years ago, in 2008, at FedExForum as part of her As I Am Tour.

Keys to the Summer Tour

Announced in April, the Keys to the Summer Tour will hit 23 arenas across North America. The tour follows Keys’ post-pandemic return to the road in 2022 and 2023 with The Alicia + Keys World Tour, which took the songstress across Europe, North America and Latin America.

The Keys to the Summer run will kick off June 28 in Florida, with stops in North Carolina and Georgia before Keys arrives in Memphis. The Forum show will feature Cameroonian-American Afrobeats singer Libianca as the opening act.

In the round

The current tour is unique for Keys as she will perform in the round for the first time. Promoter Live Nation notes the 360-degree setup “will allow fans to experience her live performance in an entirely new and exhilarating way.”

In a statement announcing the tour, Keys said the shows would be a “celebration of freedom and self-liberation! It’s going to be colorful, magical and will light up your body, soul, and all of your senses… we’ve made sure it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen.”

MEMPHIS CONCERTS: A guide to 20 summer concerts in Memphis that you won't want to miss

Alicia Keys' setlist

As of press time, Keys had yet to launch her summer tour, but a quick look at the setlists for her most recent gigs — May dates in Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico — offer a plausible preview of her live repertoire in Memphis. Keys' most recent concerts have been divided into three acts, plus an encore, filled with around 30 songs a night. The sets have been loaded with her biggest hits (“Fallin’; “No One”), material off her recent LPs and her notable collaborations (with Jay-Z, Usher and DJ Khaled, among others), as well as the odd cover (Crystal Waters’ “Gypsy Woman”).

Tickets for Alicia Keys' show in Memphis

Sales for Keys’ FedExForum concert have been brisk. Still, a good number of seats, at various levels, are available. Currently, prices on Ticketmaster start at $40.50 and go up to $159 for Platinum seating, with VIP “Unbreakable Experience” packages running $569 each. Official verified resale seats from Ticketmaster can be had for as low as $25.

With the 360-degree format for Keys’ show offering a wider array of good sightlines, there should be plenty of options throughout the arena depending on how much you’re willing to spend.

Alicia Keys Kicks Off World Tour With Outstanding Performance

Written By Deaundre Barnes

Alicia Keys made her first stop on her world tour in Charlotte, North Carolina, and fans were not disappointed by her performance.

Alicia Keys

The Opening Act: Pink Sweat$

Alicia Keys made the first stop of her world tour in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the energy of her fans was at an all-time high.

The “Unthinkable” artist also brought out fellow R&B singer Pink Sweat$ as the opening act.

He performed some of his hit singles, such as “Honesty,” “Pink City,” and “Pink Money,” to name a few.

The Main Attraction: Alicia Keys Herself

After the opening act, the stage went black, and keyholes appeared on the screen, indicating that the main attraction was about to begin.

The As I Am songstress proceeded to strut out on stage in a black one-piece and sheer jacket with the attitude of Beyoncé and the softness of Janet Jackson.

Keys greeted the large audience and began the show with her song “You Don’t Know My Name.”

She also reenacted a scene from the video when she’s talking on the phone with the man from the diner.

Throughout the night, Keys engaged with fans and even took her spot on the lawn in a mixing booth and performed some of the newest music from her latest album, Keys .

This album features a total of 12 tracks which are the same except for the arrangement.

Half of the album is the “original” arrangements with instrumentals and more old-school R&B elements. The album’s other half is the “unlocked” version with a more contemporary arrangement.

The “Fallin’” singer walked through the crowd to the main stage and graced the audience with her classic hits such as “Empire State Of Mind Pt. 1 & 2,”  “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart,” and even “New Day.”

Further into the night, Keys closed the show with a ballad that many of her fans had been waiting for, “No One.”

Then, the “Teenage Love Affair” singer thanked the audience for their incredible energy before closing the show.

This marks the second world tour the “Girl On Fire” singer has been on since her 2013 “Set The World On Fire” tour.

New Heat From Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys is living her best life during her world tour , but that’s not stopping the R&B diva from releasing new music .  Ms. Keys recently dropped her new single, “Come For Me,” featuring Lucky Daye and Khalid .

'GIRL ON FIRE' GRAPHIC NOVEL

"girl on fire" graphic novel.

From  New York Times  bestselling author and 15-time GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Alicia Keys comes a new authentic and poignant coming-of-age young adult graphic novel, about finding the strength within when your whole world changes in an instant.

Lolo Wright always thought she was just a regular fourteen-year-old dealing with regular family drama: her brother, James, is struggling with his studies; her dad’s business constantly teeters on the edge of trouble; and her mother . . . she left long ago. But then Lolo’s world explodes when a cop pulls a gun on James in a dangerous case of mistaken identities. Staring down the barrel, with no one else to help, Lolo discovers powers she never knew she had. Using only her mind, she literally throws the cop out of the way.

Problem is that secrets like Lolo’s don’t stay a secret for long. Skin, a dangerous dealer with designs on taking over the neighborhood, hears of Lolo’s telekinetic abilities and decides that he needs her in his crew. Skin might not have Lolo’s powers, but he’s got nothing to lose and is willing to do whatever it takes to get what he wants. And what he wants is Lolo.

Lolo’s not willing to let Skin use her to hurt the people—and neighborhood—that she loves. But it’s going to take a whole different kind of bravery to stand-up for what’s right, especially after Lolo’s mom returns suddenly and turns Lolo’s whole world upside-down. For too long, it’s true, Lolo’s had her head in the clouds, but this time, it’s on her . . . and she’s not backing down.

Girl on Fire  is a young adult graphic novel about a girl who’s a flame. It’s the first-ever graphic novel from beloved GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Alicia Keys, co-written by Andrew Weiner and illustrated by Brittney Williams.

5 reasons to see Alicia Keys’ musical ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ on Broadway

The jukebox musical breathes new life into Keys' incomparable catalog.

An electrifying new musical has come to Broadway. The semi-autobiographical show from Alicia Keys opened over the weekend, and we’re breaking down five reasons the show is a must-see event this Broadway season.

"Hell's Kitchen" Broadway Opening Night

Come for the hits

First and foremost: “Hell’s Kitchen” is a jukebox musical , and an excellent one at that. Unlike others like it, the show does not simply rest on Keys’ immense catalog to succeed. Instead, it uses the songs to tell a larger, grander story, often retooling and reshaping the numbers contextually and even sonically (“Fallin’, one of Keys’s signature songs, specifically stands out in a showstopping Act II moment).

A moving story

The show takes audiences on a thrilling coming-of-age adventure set in 1990s New York City. From the opening number, you feel transported back in time, following young Ali (Maleah Joi Moon) as she navigates her first love, her journey as an artist, and her unexpected loss in one of the most pivotal moments of her life. Moon injects endless ferocity and tenderness into the protagonist, who pushes up against her responsibilities as a student and a daughter in an ever-changing world.

Her mother Jersey, played by the marvelous Shoshana Bean, is another pivotal part of the show’s narrative, serving as another entry point for the audience. The character shines as a moving portrait of a mother doing everything she can to protect and raise her daughter while reckoning with her own past.

Thrilling choreography

The show features dazzling choreography from Camille A. Brown, who is known for her acclaimed work on the stage in productions like “Choir Boy,” “Once on This Island” and more. The true heartbeat of the show, Brown’s choreography takes us from scene to scene, supercharging the story with energy that impresses all the way to the last seat in the house.

Unparalleled voices

Keys’ stunning music is sung by some of the strongest voices currently on the Great White Way. Moon and Bean both bring down the house with glorious vocals that fill the entire theater, handling Keys’ greatest hits and newer offerings with care and specificity. Her songs reach new heights due to the supporting performances in the show as well, including Brandon Victor Dixon, who has the audience in the palm of his hand from the second he gloriously begins singing Keys’ song “Not Even the King.”

An authentically New York experience

Overall, the experience is an uplifting and moving one, as Ali’s journey can’t help but leave you filled with joy, hope, and an immense love for the city that she calls home. When the eventual performance of Keys’ hit “Empire State of Mind” comes, it is earned, as the entire show itself is a celebration of New York City and the dreamers, lovers, teenagers, and people who inhabit it every day.

Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan are pop stars in the making. How opening tour gigs, TikTok and Coachella are keys to their success.

A s Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift dominate arenas around the world with sold-out concerts, their opening acts are becoming pop stars in their own right. Both Chappell Roan and Sabrina Carpenter's fame came slowly, then all at once.

Roan and Carpenter are currently in the “middle class” phase of notoriety with devoted fans and recognizable aesthetics, but their star power is building with every move. As concert openers, they have ringing endorsements from two massive stars with powerful fandoms.

Jason Lipshutz, the executive director of music at Billboard, told Yahoo Entertainment that Roan opening for Olivia is the “most successful opening act placement in recent memory.”

“Opening for someone obviously helps with career momentum sometimes, but she seems to have become a star right at this moment,” he said.

Roan, who is 26, released her first EP in 2017. Her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess , wasn’t released until 2023. On the heels of her critical success , she began opening for Rodrigo in February 2024, kickstarting her meteoric rise. Her NPR Tiny Desk Concert in March introduced a wider audience to her unmistakably campy style. According to the music data analysis tool Chartmetric, her Spotify monthly listeners grew more than 500% from February to April.

“What [Roan] has done over the past couple of months is really undeniable,” Lipshutz said. “She’s gonna be a star. The queer community is totally behind her and she has this insane voice that you hear … then start watching clips of her performing the hell out of a song.”

Right up there with Roan is Carpenter, a 24-year-old former Disney Channel star, who released four albums through Disney’s Hollywood Records between 2015 and 2019. She was briefly an internet villain in 2021, when rumors spread that Olivia Rodrigo’s viral hit “Drivers License” was about a love triangle she was involved in. In 2022, she broke free from that narrative with the album Emails I Can’t Send .

Her big break came when she joined Swift on tour in November 2023, charming the crowd with flirty performances and cheeky wordplay, switching up the outro for her song “Nonsense” with topical lines for each city. When criticized for filming her salacious “Feather” music video in a church, she cleverly explained that “Jesus Was a Carpenter.” Chartmetric data shows that Carpenter’s monthly Spotify listeners have grown by 58% to date since her first opening performance in November.

Lipshutz explained that in a way, Roan and Carpenter have opposite backstories — Roan seemingly came out of nowhere, but Carpenter has been grinding away on her Disney label for years waiting for a hit. They just happened to deploy similar playbooks for their breakout moments.

“For [Carpenter], it’s been a slow build of minor singles leading to a critically approved album,” he said “Then she had minor hits leading to opening for [Swift], which then led to an actual hit.”

Carpenter is still more popular than Roan — she has 40.6 million monthly Spotify listeners compared to Roan’s 9.4 million, according to Chartmetric — but they’re both growing every day.

Going viral on TikTok with new singles

Though both Roan and Carpenter are between albums right now, they each released a new single in April — Roan with “Good Luck, Babe!” on April 5, and Carpenter with “Espresso” on April 11.

They’re both signed to Island Records, a division of Universal Music Group. UMG banned the use of its artists’ music on TikTok in February, but creators have found a way around the ban for both Roan and Carpenter. Thousands of videos have been created using sped-up or alternate versions of their songs to avoid the ban and promote listening to it on other platforms — and it’s working.

Both Roan and Carpenter achieved their highest charting songs on the Billboard Hot 100 the week of April 27 , at No. 44 and No. 7 respectively. Critics say the ephemeral nature of using short-form video to promote music prioritizes songs over artists and rarely leads to long-term fame. For these two, it might provide exactly the boost they need to break through the pop star stratosphere.

The coveted Coachella bump

Coachella’s headliners typically receive a streaming boost after they perform, but Roan and Carpenter saw some of the biggest gains while featured earlier in the schedule. According to Billboard , decreased ticket sales for the festival didn’t stop Roan’s streams from increasing 52%, and Carpenter’s streams went up 41%.

Another up-and-coming pop star, Reneé Rapp, received a 33% boost after her viral Coachella performance with Kesha, Billboard reported. The singer, perhaps better known as Regina George in the 2024 film adaptation of the Mean Girls musical, might be the next pop star to ascend.

Rapp, who frequently makes headlines for her outspoken demeanor in interviews, left a steady gig as one of the stars of Max’s Sex Lives of College Girls to focus on her music. Since she announced her departure in July 2023, her Spotify monthly listeners have grown 143%, according to Chartmetric data.

“What’s missing [for Rapp] compared to Roan and Carpenter is she just doesn’t have a hit yet,” Lipshutz said. “I could definitely see it happening for her though.”

Lipshutz explained that it’s been a while since we’ve seen someone new get crowned a pop star. Younger generations are looking for “their own phase” of artists to support from the ground up, helping to boost a growing fan base.

“It’s always exciting to have new stars being born,” he said.

Oprah Praises Alicia Keys’ 'Spectacular' Broadway Show Hell's Kitchen After She Woke Up 'Humming the Songs'

The musical, which is loosely based on Keys' life and includes hits from the Grammy winner's catalogue, is now playing at the Shubert Theatre in New York City

Dave Quinn is a Senior Editor for PEOPLE. He has been working at the brand since 2016, and is the author of the No. 1 New York Times best-selling book, Not All Diamonds and Rosé: The Inside Story of the Real Housewives from the People Who Lived It.

Alicia Keys ' new Broadway musical Hell's Kitchen has the Oprah seal of approval.

The talk show giant on Sunday, April 21 shared to social media a loving message of support about the musical , which officially opened to rave reviews at the Shubert Theatre in New York City the day before.

"You know it’s a great show when you wake up the next morning humming the songs," wrote Oprah, 70, captioning a gallery of photos to Instagram from the opening celebrations including a shot of her posing at the afterparty with pals Michelle Obama and Gayle King , as well as Keys, Keys' mother Terria Joseph and Keys' husband Swizz Beatz .

She went on to tell Keys that she was "so proud and happy for you and what you so artfully accomplished with your new Broadway musical [ Hell's Kitchen ] — surrounded by a team of fantastics and a spectacular cast."

"Brava, Brava, my friend, many times over," Oprah wrote.

Hell's Kitchen tells an original story by Pulitzer Prize finalist Kristoffer Diaz based on Keys' experiences of growing up in the New York City neighborhood of the same name.

The musical, according to its official logline, is set in the '90s and follows Ali, "a 17-year-old girl full of fire, searching for freedom, passion and her place in the world. Rebellious and stifled by an overprotective single mother, Ali is lost until she meets her mentor: a neighbor who opens her heart and mind to the power of the piano."

Keys, 43, penned new songs for the show, though some of the Grammy Award winner's greatest hits are included in the musical as well, including "Fallin'," "No One," "If I Ain't Got You," "You Don't Know My Name," "Teenage Love Affair," "Girl on Fire" and of course, "Empire State of Mind."

Back in February, Keys opened up to PEOPLE about the musical , explaining she had been working on it for the past 13 years and "can't even believe" it was finally coming to fruition.

"Ultimately it’s a love story between mother and daughter," she said. "It’s incredible. My mother left Toledo, Ohio, to come to NYU in New York City. She is the New York story, the one that came from wherever and chased the dream, which is what allowed me to be in New York City and grow up there and find a dream. So that’s really the concept of  Hell’s Kitchen . To watch that come to life with my mother . . . is such a dream come true.”

Hell's Kitchen is playing an open run on Broadway. Direction comes from Michael Greif ( Rent , Next to Normal , Dear Evan Hansen ), with choreography by Camille A. Brown.

Leading the cast is newcomer Maleah Joi Moon as Ali, alongside principal stars Shoshana Bean, Brandon Victor Dixon, Kecia Lewis and Chris Lee.

The rest of the cast features Chad Carstarphen, Reid Clarke, Chloe Davis, Nico DeJesus, Timothy L. Edwards, Desmond Sean Ellington, Badia Farha, Vanessa Ferguson, David Guzman, Gianna Harris, Jakeim Hart, Takia Hopson, Jackie Leon, Raechelle Manalo, Jade Milan, Onyxx Noel, Susan Oliveras, Sarah Parker, Aaron Nicholas Patterson, William Roberson, Niki Saludez, Nyseli Vega, Donna Vivino, Lamont Walker II, Rema Webb, and Oscar Whitney Jr.

At the curtain call for Sunday's premiere, Keys was surprised on stage by her blended family, including Swizz Beatz, their son, Genesis Ali, and two of Beatz's three children from his previous relationships, Prince Nasir and Kasseem Jr .

"This is my family and every time I have to say late or go, they’re very understanding of this process. And so it wouldn’t happen without y’all. It wouldn’t happen, never. So I’m so grateful to my family," Keys said, noting that her son, Egypt Daoud, and Beatz' daughter Nicole were "missing tonight" but were "here in spirit."

She also sent love to her mother. "I cannot leave this stage without thanking my mother," Keys said. "Every sacrifice that she ever made and every dream that she ever had is here tonight. I love you mommy! We love you so much."

Tickets to Hell's Kitchen are now on sale.
