The Anaula Nature Resort is Suriname’s latest resort . The resort lays in Upper-Suriname, at an approximate 4.5 hours drive and a one-hour boat trip from Paramaribo, but the resort is also reachable by airplane. An inland flight from Paramaribo to the nearest airstrip Ladoani, takes about 45 minutes.

Upper-Suriname is known for its unique Maroon culture and its wonderful Amazon rainforest. Decades ago, the Maroons (descendants of runaway slaves) settled in the inaccessible rainforest, where they started a new existence. Due to their isolated way of life, they have developed their own culture with strong African influences. The women in their colourful robes, children playing at the riverside in contrast with the pureness of the tropical rainforest, provide a breathtaking scene.

Op het resort zijn er baby-bedden en baby- eetstoelen beschikbaar. Anaula maakt gebruik van zonnepanelen voor de opwekking van elektriciteit en dat is er de gehele dag beschikbaar. Upper Suriname

The Upper Suriname area, in which the Anaula Nature Resort is located, is known for its unique Maroon culture and its virgin Amazon rainforest. The Maroons, descendants of runaway slaves, settled long ago in the inaccessible interior, where they built a new life. Due to their isolated way of life, their own culture developed with strong African influences.

Adventure Elements

The trip with the canoe can be adventurous at low water levels, where passengers may have to get out and walk a bit over rocks. This adds an element of adventure and interaction with the natural environment.

This magnificent resort with a swimming pool is situated on the banks of a beautiful island on the Upper Suriname river, at the foot of the Ferulassi waterfalls. It is a comfortable and unique resort in the Amazon rainforest with its turbulent rapids, delightful fauna and flora, idyllic beaches/islands, and the fascinating Maroon culture. 3-DAAGSE TOUR

Paramaribo – Anaula

Today we begin our nature and culture experience and depart from Paramaribo in the southern direction. On the way, we pass the impressive forest giants and villages located along this road. After about 190 km, we arrive at the mooring Atjoni. From Atjoni we sail for about 1 hour in a motorized dugout to the comfortable Anaula Nature Resort, located at the foot of the Ferullasi Falls, where you will also spend the night. After a light lunch, there is some free time, so you can enjoy in the waters of the Ferulassi sula. Relax, swim and enjoy this natural bubbling pool.

Voor het diner gaan wij een spannend avontuur tegemoet op zoek naar kaaimannen. Tevens kunt u tijdens deze nachtelijke vaartocht genieten van de prachtige sterrenhemel en de totale stilte van het Amazone regenwoud ervaren.

After breakfast, we sail by kraal to the village of New Aurora for a village tour. During the tour of the village, you will meet the local people and learn about their unique way of life and their traditional customs and practices. We visit the mission station which includes a church, elementary school and medical post.

Around 16.30 hrs. We take a walk through the forest on the island, on which the resort is located. During this walk, you will learn about the local medicinal use of plants. During the 1986 internal war, Ronnie Brunswijk's jungle commandos visited the island for their "immortality rituals". The remnants of these rituals on the island remind us of this unique piece of history.

4-DAAGSE TOUR

Hier hebt u op zondag de gelegenheid om een kerkdienst in het dorp mee te maken. U zal getuige zijn van een typische Saramacaanse dienst. De middag mag u naar eigen beleven invullen, de hangmat kampen staan er voor uw gemak. Een wandeling op het eiland is aan te bevelen, u kan dan in alle rust luisteren naar de geluiden van onze eiland bewoners of verpozen boven het water op een plateau. Een boekje lezen aan bij het zwembad onder de gazebo, is ook geen onaantrekkelijk idee.

Na het diner kunt u genieten van een cultureel dansoptreden. Traditionele dansen zoals de Seketi, Awasa en Bandamba zullen worden uitgevoerd. Door de gids zal er uitleg worden gegeven over de inhoud en betekenis van deze dansen.

• Forest walk The educational forest walks let you meet the best kept secrets of the tropical rainforest, such as the local medicinal use of plants and trees. • Adventure boat trip During this exciting nightly excursion, which takes about 1 1/2 hours, you will be looking for kayaks by a coral. You can also enjoy a beautiful starry sky • Village walk A visit to a Marrondorp will not be forgotten soon. The hospitable Marron population is proud of her culture and is pleased to introduce you to their ancient customs and customs. • Cultural evening You can not miss the dance and music evening with traditional Saramaccan singing and dance. The location of Anaula Nature Resort

The Anaula Nature Resort is located on a woody island of ± 12 hectares in an area called the Ferulasi rapids in the center of Suriname. About 3 hectares of the island is used for the resort itself. The rest, 9 hectares, is pure tropical rainforest.

There are trails on the island, so you’re able to make a walk in the woods on your own or together with one of our guides. A walk around the island takes about 30 minutes. The island is located approximately 180 km from the capital of Suriname, Paramaribo, and it takes 4 hours by bus, followed by a boat trip of 1 hour.

Anaula Nature Resort is set according to the Surinamese health authority (Buro Public Health) in a malaria-free area. Swallowing malaria tablets is absolutely not necessary.

Get acquainted with the unique Maroon culture, virgin Amazon rainforest, turbulent rapids, unique flora and fauna and idyllic islands. Day 1 Paramaribo - Anaula

We start our day with a nature and culture experience, we depart from Paramaribo heading south. Passing the impressive giant trees and villages situated along this road. After 190 km we arrive at Atjoni the mooring place of the dug out boats, here we start our exciting canoe trip. This trip by motorised canoe will take about 55 min to reach our destination, the comfortabe Anaula Nature Resort, which is situated at the foot of the Ferulassi rapids. During this trip you can enjoy the breathtaking nature, the turbulent Jaw-Jaw rapid and we will pass several Maroon villages. When we reach Anaula Resort you will be carried away by its peace. This will be your home away from home during your stay. After a light lunch in buffet style in our beautiful restaurant, you can check in. After this you have the opportunity to discover the island. In the afternoon we will go by boat to the Ferulassi rapids, where you can relax, swin or enjoy a natural whirlpool. After dinner our guide will explain a little about the Saramaccan culture. After this we will go for an exciting adventure, spotting caimans. During this night trip by boat, you can enjoy the breathtaking starry sky and the Total silence of the Amazone rainforest.

Day 2 New Aurora

After breakfast we`ll be heading to New Aurora by motorised dug out boats for a village walk. During the tour of the village you will discover the local population and their unique way of life and their traditional customs and habits. We will visit the mission with a church, a school and a medical post. Around 16.30 pm we go for a bush walk around the island which the resort is located. During this walk we get information about the local medicinal and use of the plants. During the civil war in 1986 the Jungle Commandos with their leader Ronnie Brunswijk, visited the island for their “immortality rituals”. The remains of these rituals remind us of the island unique piece of history. After an delicous dinner you can enjoy a cultural dance performance. Traditional dances like the Seketi, Awasa and Bandamba will be presented. Our guide will be explaining the content and meaning of these dances.

*Note: the cultural dance event is being offered at a minimum of 8 (eight) guests.

Day 3 Anaula - Paramaribo

This morning is free for your own activities. You can swim, take a walk through the forest, relax by the pool or in a hammock, or just relax and enjoy the breathtaking nature. You can also choose to participate in excursions such as visits to the plots of the local residents. After lunch we return to Atjoni, from where we depart by bus to Paramaribo

Guided Walking Tour of the Moscow Metro

You would like, admiring the frescoes in kurskaya and komsomolskaya metro stations, marvelling at the architecture of the moscow metro, listening to your guide's commentary, essential information *, duration 1 hour 50 minutes, starting time 2:00 pm.

Set off to discover the most breathtaking stops on Moscow’s beautiful metro system on this walking tour.

Some of the stops on the Moscow metro are real masterpieces. Head underground and admire the Moscow metro with your guide.

During your guided tour, you will get to admire the Ploshchad Revolyutsii , designed by the architect Dushkin. There are no fewer than 72 sculptures in this station!

You will then explore Kurskaya station, built in 1938. The design, mosaics and slogans will immerse you in the era of Stalin. You will also see the frescoes depicting Russian victories in Komsomolskaya station.

Then, continue to one of Moscow’s must-see metro stations, Novoslobodskaya , which resembles an underground palace: marble, stained glass windows...

• Het programma

Onze 3-daagse Tour bestaat uit een compleet verzorgde reis naar het binnenland van Suriname. Standaard vertrekdagen zijn elke maandag, woensdag en vrijdag. Tijdens uw reis zullen we diverse uitstapjes maken, zoals een dorpswandeling, bezoek aan de Ferulassi sroomversnellingen en een avontuurlijke boottocht. Ook een cultureel optreden uitgevoerd door marrons, de inwoners van het gebied rond Anaula, zal u niet worden onthouden.

Ferulasivallen en een avontuurlijke boottocht.

Vandaag beginnen we aan onze natuur- en cultuurbelevenis en vertrekken vanuit Paramaribo in zuidelijke richting.Onderweg passeren we de indrukwekkende woudreuzen en dorpen gelegen aan deze weg. Na ongeveer 190 km komen we aan bij het aanmeerplaatsje Atjoni om vervolgens te beginnen aan een enerverende korjaaltocht. We varen circa 50 minuten per gemotoriseerde korjaal naar het comfortabele Anaula Nature Resort, gelegen aan de voet van de Ferullasivallen, waar u tevens zult overnachten. Tijdens deze vaartocht komen wij een adembenemende natuur en diverse Marrondorpen tegen. Tevens passeren wij de onstuimige Jaw-Jaw stroomversnelling.

Na een lichte lunch in buffetvorm in onze prachtige eetzaal, zal het inchecken geschieden.Hierna hebt u even de gelegenheid het resort te verkennen.

In de voormiddag varen we per korjaal naar een nabij gelegen zwemgelegenheid, in de Ferullasi stroomversnelling, waar we kunnen relaxen, zwemmen en genieten van een natuurlijke bruisbad.

Voor het diner gaan wij een spannend avontuur tegemoet op zoek naar kaaimannen. Tevens kunt u tijdens deze nachtelijke vaartocht genieten van de prachtige sterrenhemel en de totale stilte van de Amazone regenwoud ervaren.

Dorpswandeling en cultureel optreden.

Na het ontbijt varen we per korjaal naar het dorp Nieuw- Aurora voor een dorpswandeling. Tijdens de rondleiding door het dorp maakt u kennis met de locale bevolking en met hun unieke manier van leven en hun traditionele gewoontes en gebruiken. Wij brengen een bezoek aan de missiepost met ondermeer een kerk, een lagere school en een medische post. Omstreeks 16.30 uur maken wij een boswandeling op het eiland, waarop het resort zich bevindt. Tijdens deze boswandeling krijgt u uitleg over het lokaal medicinaal gebruik van planten. Tijdens de binnenlandse oorlog in 1986 bezochten de junglecommandos van Ronnie Brunswijk het eiland voor hun onsterfelijkheidsrituelen. De overblijfselen van deze rituelen op het eiland herinneren ons aan dit uniekje stukje geschiedenis.

3-Daagse tour Anaula Nature Resort SurinameIn de avonduren kunt u genieten van een heerlijk diner. Na het diner kunnen wij genieten van een cultureel dansoptreden. Traditionele dansen zoals de Seketi, Awasa en Bandamba zullen voor ons worden uitgevoerd. Door onze gids zal er uitleg worden gegeven over de inhoud en betekenis van deze dansen.

Reistips: In verband met de fysieke inspanningen tijdens deze rondreis dient u over een redelijke lichamelijke conditie te beschikken.

Geadviseerd wordt een weekendtas mee te nemen naar het binnenland. Voor de korjaaltochten zijn waterschoenen of slippers het handigst, terwijl voor de tochten in het bos gympen of goede loopschoenen geadviseerd worden.
