atlantis hotel dubai visit

Large rooms, great view and high quality interior and exterior design. Imperial package is worth the price because it makes the stay like all-inclusive. Great food at the imperial lounge. I didn’t want to leave the hotel because it already has a mall and an aquarium (no need to visit Dubai mall lol). There are like 10 restaurants, cafes, I even smoked hooked in 2 different places within the hotel. The aqua park is a real deal and it’s really enjoyable for hours with kids. The beach is also good.

The ultimate guide to Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Just 20 minutes from downtown Dubai , Atlantis is a prime entertainment destination featuring two world-class mega-resorts at the crown of The Palm Jumeirah , the first man-made island in Dubai. For the ultimate value-for-money trip, here’s everything you need to know to get the most from your visit to Atlantis, The Palm. We're talking must-do activities, value-for-money restaurants, saving hacks, traveler tips, ticket prices, how to get to Atlantis, and more.

Grab your resort map and follow along.

Things to do at Atlantis Dubai

1. chase thrills at atlantis aquaventure waterpark.

Aquaconda, Dubai Aquaventure Waterpark

The crowd-puller of The Palm Jumeirah, the Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark is Dubai’s biggest waterpark and has featured in global television programs like “The Amazing Race”. Spanning 148 acres, this extreme theme park comprises over 100 rides and watersports experiences across three towers, and is renowned for its record-breaking “Leap of Faith” at Neptune Tower where riders plunge nearly 60ft vertically (9 storeys) down a slide that goes through a frightening shark tank. Must-try new rides include “Odyssey of Terror”, the world’s tallest waterslide, and “Blackout”, the Middle East’s tallest vertical drop slide.

Hot tip: before you go, strap your phone to your arm in a waterproof case – it'll save you repeat trips to the lockers after rides. Save cost by bringing your own towels, and save your feet from sweltering surfaces by wearing water shoes. And don't wear cotton on rides, or you won't be allowed in. Final word of advice? Go on a weekday when the park opens at 10am for fewer crowds and shorter wait times. You're in for an epic adventure.

Admission and towels are free for Atlantis hotel guests. Otherwise, visitors pay AED269 (USD73) for entry. Save money with a 2-in-1 admission ticket including the Lost Chambers Aquarium here.

2. Get close to marine life at Sea Lion Point and Dolphin Bay

Sea Lion Point, Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Love wildlife? Play with precocious sea lions, swim with bubbly dolphins, and have a blast learning all about them in interactive shows by accredited trainers. Located within the Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark , this fun family vacation activity (~30 minutes - 1 hour) is incredibly popular among kids, with an option to buy the photos taken during your interaction. There are multiple experience options for each area: Dip & Play, Meet & Greet, Swim & Explore – so check carefully before booking. Go early at 11am before the park gets crowded.

Selfies and shows are free for hotel guests. Otherwise, visitors pay upwards of AED595 (USD160) for tickets. If you're going, book direct on the official site – your ticket will include admission to the Aquaventure Waterpark.

3. Go on underwater adventures at Lost Chambers Aquarium

The Lost Chambers Aquarium, Atlantis, Dubai

No trip to Atlantis is complete without a visit to the largest aquarium in the UAE . Perfect for snorkelers, divers, and marine wildlife lovers, this underwater labyrinth depicts an ancient paradise teeming with over 65,000 marine animals. Come face to face with sharks, jellyfish, seahorses, endangered Napolean wrasses and even albino alligators, with additional snorkeling and diving options readily available . You can even do yoga in the aquarium if you book in advance .

It takes about 1 hour to explore the entire aquarium. If you're looking to skip to the most IG-worthy spots, don't miss The Jellyfish Aquarium and the Seven Sages Chamber.

Admission is free for hotel guests. Otherwise, visitors pay AED85 (USD23) for entry. If you're going to Aquaventure Waterpark too, get bundle admission here .

4. Splash out on family-friendly fun and games at the Wavehouse

Wavehouse Dubai, Atlantis, Dubai

Kick back with a cold one at the Wavehouse , a funky two-story entertainment hub with more than 50 games scattered within a technicolor indoor arcade. Among the highlights: a realistic surf machine, the world’s largest Pac-Man, a bowling alley (one of the only two licensees in Dubai), stage areas where a live band plays three nights a week, daily happy hour from 5 p.m - 7 p.m. with 50% off selected drinks and games, and 13 flavors of shisha. Outside, a beach-themed terrace provides a perfect vantage spot for watching new surfers catch their first wave.

Turn up for Ladies' Night on Tuesdays to get a free drink per pax. Because Wavehouse is a popular haunt for after-dark escapades, reserve a table in advance if you're going after 5 p.m.

5. Relax your senses with a spa-cation at ShuiQi Spa

ShuiQi Spa, Atlantis The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

For a quintessential Atlantis luxury experience, pamper yourself at the award-winning ShuiQi Spa. Located in the Royal Towers of Atlantis, this wellness spa and fitness centre is the hallmark of relaxation in Dubai, offering a huge range of spa packages, manicures, pedicures, massage services, haircare, scrubs and facials to spoil yourself with. Here’s a secret: Parents can drop their kids off at the Atlantis Kids Club to catch a few hours of me time at the spa.

Signature treatments start from ~AED1,100 (USD300). If you're fishing for a discount, use the Entertainer app to access discounts (up to ~AED 1,600 or USD436) on spacations, facials, and massages.

The best restaurants in Atlantis Dubai

1. seafire steakhouse.

Tomahawk, Seafire Steakhouse, Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

One of Atlantis’ signatures, Seafire Steakhouse boasts an open kitchen and walk-in wine cellar, and specializes in the finest seafood and prime cut selections. Customization on your meal is endless—from the cut, age and marble score of your steak, down to your choice of knife, the variety of salts used, and the type of (and how much) house-made sauce you drizzle on. Steaks start from AED195 (USD53) which means you can rack up quite the bill, but the experience is well worth it. If you're budget-conscious, you'll be happy to know that kids below 11 years old eat for free between 5 p.m. - 7 p.m.

Saffron, Atlantis The Palm, Dubai

Eat your way around Dubai’s largest Asian buffet, with over 220 dishes on offer and 20 live cooking stations to watch top chefs chop, sizzle and dice your dishes right in front of you. Don’t miss Saffron 's famous themed dinners on rotation every week, but visit on a day that suits your taste. Tripadvisor travelers particularly love seafood night on Tuesdays, where lobsters, crabs, sashimi, and oysters flow endlessly. Check the line-up here before going, and call ahead to reserve your seat for your favorite themed night. Note that the dress code here is smart-casual.

Themed buffets start at AED245/pax (USD67) for a world of excellent Asian variety. Bring cash to avoid a long wait in the notoriously long card billing queue.

Black Cod Miso, Nobu, Atlantis Dubai

If you’ve never heard of celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa before, his Japanese-Peruvian signature dishes are a great introduction. Specifically, try his world-famous black cod in miso pictured above. Nobu Dubai houses Chef Nobu’s tasteful reimaginings of iconic dishes that hail from both cultures, resulting from years of improvisation following a mid-career move to Peru. A spread of omakase sets and other fusion specialties are on the menu, made fresh to order with ample explanations and suggestions thrown in from the crew upon request. Omakase sets start at AED475 (USD130).

Friday set menu brunches are a popular choice too, with beef dishes and black cod lettuce wraps among the top highlights. As with all popular food destinations, book in advance before going.

The best beach clubs in Atlantis Dubai

1. white beach dubai.

WHITE Beach Dubai, Atlantis, Dubai

The newest adults-only addition to Atlantis’ beach club scene, WHITE Beach has built a reputation as a premier party destination in the area. With two poolside bars, an outdoor restaurant, and an infinity pool with picture-perfect views of Dubai's downtown skyline, guests stretch out on boho-style sun loungers across an open-air terrace. All day long, resident DJs are on deck to spin Mediterranean soundscapes and Ibizan rhythms that take you far, far away from here. A perfect setting for brunches and sundown parties.

Turn up for Ladies’ Night on Tuesdays to get unlimited wines and cocktails for AED150 (USD41), while gents get to redeem AED150 (USD41) worth of food and drinks. Only guests 21 and above are allowed into the club.

On a normal day, drinks-only prices start at AED150 (USD41).

2. Paradise Beach

Paradise Beach, Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Perfect for lazy sun-soaked afternoons, Paradise Beach offers great deals on bottomless brunch and teatime packages on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Day beds are available for lounging all across the terrace, facing spectacular panoramas of the Burj Al Arab and the Dubai Marina. Where drinks flow, music follows – go from electronic to dreamy house to oriental, paired by DJs with live instrumentals. Check out the most updated program on their website.

Things to do around Atlantis Dubai

1. enjoy a romantic boat ride and the palm fountain show.

Dubai Fountains Show Lake Ride, The Pointe, Atlantis Dubai

Showing every half-hour from 6 p.m. to midnight daily at The Pointe Waterfront , the grand Palm Fountain lights up in a kaleidoscopic array of LED, synchronized to hit songs, from sunset to midnight. Next to the spectacle, the neighboring Burj Khalifa dazzles in splendid technicolor. Trust us – the world’s biggest fountain looks even better up close. There’s no place you’d rather be than gliding alongside on a dreamy 30-minute boat ride , with plenty of chances to take pictures.

Boat rides start at AED111 (USD 31) per pax , but the fountain show is otherwise free for onlookers by the waterfront.

Speed along the coast of The Palm Jumeirah on a jet-ski adventure

Jet-ski Adventures in front of the Burj Al Arab, Atlantis The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

For pros and beginners alike, feed your need for speed with a family-friendly jet ski ride around the waterfront , with an energetic guide showing off some jet skiing tricks along the way. Choose to ride alone or with a friend, but rest assured that the technical briefing at the start will cover all your questions about operating a jet-ski. Don’t miss your chance to snap pictures right in front of the Burj Al Arab.

Adventures are priced at AED683 (USD186). Pick a morning slot to beat the oppressive afternoon heat.

2. Admire Dubai’s urban skyline at 101 Dining Lounge and Bar

101 Dining Lounge & Bar, One&Only The Palm, Atlantis, The Palm Jumeirah, Dubai

Just one romantic buggy ride away from the pick-up point at One & Only The Palm , 101 Dining Lounge and Bar sits in a private marina at the west crescent of The Palm, right along the water’s edge – a prime spot to bask in Dubai’s spectacular golden hour after 6 p.m. Spend your sunset grooving to the jazzy rhythm of a live band on Fridays as you enjoy fresh catches from the seaside. For couch seating with unparalleled views, try getting a seat at the deck on the terrace directly facing the Expo.

Prices vary by season, but 101 is known for luxury prices. To get more out of your trip there, opt for the alternative scenic route on your way out and exit through the gardens to One & Only The Palm .

Best Time To Visit The Atlantis In Dubai

Dubai’s Atlantis Hotel is an all-year-round destination but the best time to visit is in the cooler months between November and March. During this season, temperatures remain pleasant, and humidity levels are low, making outdoor activities comfortable. It is an ideal time to explore the hotel’s water park, aquarium, beaches, and restaurants.

The off-season from April to October is also a good time to visit as the hotel offers lower prices and fewer crowds. However, the temperatures during this period can be quite high, making outdoor activities a bit uncomfortable. If you’re looking for a more laid-back experience, visiting during the weekdays can also help you avoid the weekend crowds.

The best time to make your reservation is during the Dubai Shopping Festival , which is usually held in January and February, to enjoy discounts and promotions. According to sources, Atlantis, The Palm is the first resort in Dubai to have more than 1.4 million followers on Facebook.

Timing and Budget Cost Considerations

When planning to visit the Atlantis hotel Dubai , one must consider timings and budget constraints . The best time to visit the iconic hotel is during November to April , when the weather is pleasant, and outdoor activities are possible. Additionally, visitors should make bookings well in advance to get good deals on accommodation and tours.

In terms of budget costs, prices will be higher during peak season compared to off-peak season. Visitors can save money by opting for deals that include attractions such as Aquaventure Waterpark or The Lost Chambers Aquarium . Moreover, visitors can save on dining costs by choosing local restaurants over in-house dining options at the hotel.

Visitors travelling with kids can opt for Dolphin Bay experiences or take part in interactive marine animal shows at Sea Lion Point. Furthermore, adventurous travellers can try their luck at Skydive Dubai or go for a jet-ski ride around the palms.

Pro Tip: To avoid crowds and enjoy discounted rates on hotel stays and activities, visit during mid-week instead of weekends.

Oyster Hotel Review

Busy resort that's both luxurious and family-friendly -- a rare, but mostly well-executed combination.

atlantis hotel dubai visit

This hotel is, first and foremost, a luxury resort. You can feel that grandeur upon arriving, where the massive salmon-hued building gives way to the towering Dale Chihuly glass sculpture, eye-catching fountain, and nautically themed columns in the hotel's lobby. And while there are plenty of luxury properties in Dubai that cater to party-seeking adults (which this resort also does), things are a bit different here and kids are spoiled for options here too. Families are frequent guests thanks to the aquarium and water park, while adults (both groups and couples) come to enjoy the dining options, the beach and pools, and the spa.

Design elements riff on the nautical Atlantis mythology, but the overall the property doesn't necessarily feel as overtly branded as the big-ticket resorts of Las Vegas or Disney World. The palette throughout most public spaces and rooms combines the brand's iconic salmon hue and the blues of the nearby Arabian Sea. Even so, it's a bit whimsical, and you’ll often find bathing suit-clad children running around the property. Adults might be better off in the West Tower -- home to the spa, fitness center, and conference center -- which is much calmer than the East Tower. The latter has direct access to the water park, aquarium, the majority of the restaurants, the Avenue shopping center, and the the kids’ club.

During the day, the property exudes the lively family-friendly atmosphere that you might find in a theme park. In the evening, expect several of the restaurants to have a clubby atmosphere that draws in adult guests and locals looking to party. The water park and aquarium are open to the public and draw huge crowds year-round. However, security prevents the public from entering the main hotel grounds. Kids can definitely be boisterous around the pools and on the beach, and even at night, the Nasimi Beach Club is likely to bump with loud music. If you're looking for true peace and quiet, the spa will be the best adult-centric escape to be found.

Far from major attractions, save for those found on-site, which are a major Dubai draw

The hotel is located at the very tip of the Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island shaped like a palm tree. The island is split between luxury resorts and residential complexes, with few other attractions nearby. As of 2018, the island is also still very much under construction, though the Atlantis is secluded enough that this won't disturb you. If you do want to venture off property to visit sights like the Burj Khalifa, the hotel is well to the southwest of Downtown Dubai and the airport (an approximately 25- and 30-minute drive, respectively). A monorail station at the hotel that connects the property with the rest of the Palm Jumeirah and the mainland, but there isn't yet a connection to Dubai’s main metro lines. Thus, you’re best off taking a car, taking a taxi, or hailing an Uber. It's a 15-minute drive to the Mall of the Emirates or the buzzy Dubai Marina, and around 25 minutes to the Dubai Mall. Dubai's Miracle Gardens and the Dubai Zoo are closer to a half-hour away by car, as are the souks of Al Ras.

From over-the-top suites to family-friendly units, all feature a modern-meets-classic finish and upmarket amenities

atlantis hotel dubai visit

There are a wide range of room types here, from the entry-level Deluxe Guest Room to the Royal Bridge Suite. As of our 2018 visit, the hotel is in the middle of a several-year renovation that will refresh decor in all of the guest rooms. We didn't notice any noise or disruptions from the renovations during our visit. The older rooms feature pastel salmon-and-teal hues with oceanic design elements, like coral-patterned throw pillows and seashell-inspired artwork on the walls. Newer rooms include subtler ocean motifs with more modern touches like leather headboards and bolder orange and turquoise elements. The result is sleeker and less beachy than the older rooms. Keep in mind that rooms facing Nasimi Beach Club do sometimes pick up noise from parties until late at night.

Amenities across all room types include minibars, electric kettles, and cable or satellite TVs, while upgraded rooms have extra features like in-room iPads. In-room Wi-Fi is available -- but it’s free if you book directly through the hotel. All rooms also feature balconies with full or partial views of the Palm Jumeirah or the Arabian Sea, as well as separate soaking tubs and showers. Deluxe Guest Rooms have a king or two queen beds, sleeping up to two adults and two children or three adults and one child. About 90 percent of the rooms here connect, benefitting families traveling together. There are also Family Deluxe Guest Rooms that sleep up to six in two adjoining rooms. Imperial Club upgrades offer access to the Imperial Club Lounges that are loaded with freebies and perks detailed below.

Suites at the hotel range from Club Suites -- with one to two bedrooms, a living area, and one-and-a-half bathrooms -- to Signature Suites, which include the Underwater Suite. This jaw-dropping triplex includes a lounge, kitchenette, and floor-to-ceiling bedroom windows that look into the aquarium. The sprawling Royal Bridge Suite features a guarded private elevator, a butler and chef, three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, and balconies on both the Palm Jumeirah and Arabian Sea sides of the hotel. Of course, these suites are significantly more expensive than the other guest rooms, but they are some of Dubai's biggest go-big-or-go-home offerings.

Lots to do from a beautiful spa to aquarium yoga, plus 23 dining options and nightlife

atlantis hotel dubai visit

Split into East and West Towers, the Atlantis packs in a ton of features that make this property a destination in its own right. Keep in mind that the vibe in the two towers is different, with the West Tower being a bit quieter than the East Tower. The West Tower includes the ShuiQi Spa, which has private treatment rooms, a whirlpool, and steam rooms and saunas. There are also separate men’s and ladies’ salons, and a fitness center with modern equipment and exercise classes. Water, towels, and headphones are free to use in the gym and classes are available. In the East Wing, an all-levels yoga class is offered at the aquarium as well. It costs extra, and we recommend making reservations well in advance.

The kid-friendly zero-entry pool is located outside the West Tower as well. This area definitely caters more toward families with children, and can get loud and rambunctious. It's surrounded by sports courts, a children’s playground, and the Nasimi Beach restaurant. The Royal Pool is the hotel’s flagship pool, and is directly behind the lobby. While children are allowed there, the atmosphere is much calmer than at the zero-entry pool. A kids' club provides an extensive selection of activities and games, though keep in mind that unless you're an Imperial Club guest, you'll have to pay extra to use it. There are also children's summer camps and a teen club that's slated to reopen in 2018 (so check ahead with the resort if this is a concern).

While the Atlantis has 23 restaurants and bars, you'll find a number of them in the East Tower, including all three of the celebrity-chef-helmed options. Those include Nobu Matsuhisa’s Nobu, Gordon Ramsey’s Bread Street Kitchen & Bar, and Giorigo Locatelli’s Ronda Locatelli. You'll also find the underwater restaurant Ossiano here, as well as the Vegas-like N’Dulge nightclub. All-inclusive rates are not available. Other dining options range from extensive buffets to Middle Eastern and Asian options. Room service can be ordered around the clock via an app. Those staying in Imperial Club level rooms have access to the Club Lounges, which serve free breakfast, free afternoon tea, and free cocktail hour with alcoholic drinks and canapes. This is a great perk, as the main restaurants can get crowded with long lines, while the lounges remain calm. However, it's a significantly pricey upgrade.

Travelers who'd prefer to spend a bit of cash on retail pursuits can head to the Avenue shopping center, which has high-end stores like Tiffany & Co. and Porsche Design. The concierge can arrange off-site tours, including yacht cruises and helicopter tours, which do depart from the property. There are 14 meeting and events spaces, including ballrooms, and event planning and wedding services are both available. While Wi-Fi is offered, it's only free with direct bookings.

Entertainment

An aquarium with 65,000 sea animals and one of the world's premier water parks.

atlantis hotel dubai visit

The aquarium and water park are arguably the centerpieces of the resort -- and both are free to access for travelers staying here (though they are also open to the public). The Lost Chambers Aquarium is home to 65,000 sea animals, many of which are housed in the Ambassador Lagoon, a nearly three-million-gallon tank that is one of the largest aquariums in the world. For a fee, guests can snorkel, scuba, or AquaTrek (a combination of snorkeling and scuba) through the lagoon, which is home to fish, sharks, and rays. If that’s a bit too adventurous, you can watch the lagoon action from the 33-foot pane in a public area of the hotel. Intertwined with the aquarium is a maze of chambers that have smaller tanks and decor inspired by the ruins of Atlantis. Visitors can book a behind-the-scenes tour to see how all the animals are cared for as well.

The sprawling water park covers 42 acres and has multiple water slides, including the famous Leap of Faith body slide that goes through a shark tank. There's also a long river ride that combines a lazy river with a rapids. Dolphin and sea lion encounters and zip lines are offered, and the water park even has its own beach. The whole area can be crowded year-round, thanks to the hot temperatures of Dubai, and lines are often long for some rides.

From family-friendly to party-ready, there are beaches here for all travelers

atlantis hotel dubai visit

Royal Beach is about a two- to five-minute minute walk from both towers of the hotel and faces the lagoon of the Palm Jumeirah Island. It's most appropriate for families, though none of the beaches here are exactly tropically perfect (they're manmade, after all). For an adult-only alternative, Nasimi Beach Club is a 21-plus beach area with a bar that hosts parties during the day and night. Those parties can occasionally go until quite late, and you'll have to pay a food-and-drink minimum is you want a lounger during the day. Imperial Club guests have their own exclusive portion of the beach as well, which includes full beachside service plus free loungers. The water park's beach is open to hotel guests as well as other visitors who have paid admission to the park. Towels are free at all beaches, except in the water park, where travelers who aren't staying at the hotel will have to pay extra for them.

The Atlantis on The Palm in Dubai is a five-star hotel and a dazzling and adventurous getaway location featuring a massive waterpark, world-class aquatic attractions, fine dining and global cuisine, and much more. Making the journey and deciding which of the many attractions to choose from can be a daunting task, but with the right preparations you can plan an unforgettable vacation.

Planning Your Travel

Step 1 Visit between November and March for the best weather.

  • Some travellers book trips during the summer months or off-season in order to get better deals on hotel and flight prices. If you choose to do so, just be aware of the higher temperatures.
  • If you choose to visit during the holy month of Ramadan (between May and June in 2018 and 2019), it may be difficult to find food being sold between sunrise and sunset, and it may come off as culturally insensitive if you choose to consume food publicly during this time.

Step 2 Plan your trip at least six months in advance.

  • The weekend in Dubai goes from Friday to Saturday, so keep this in mind while planning your trip and note that some businesses may be closed on these days. [2] X Research source

Step 4 Pack clothes for summer weather.

  • It’s a good idea to bring a jacket or cover-up for night-time and air-conditioned indoor spaces like malls and restaurants.
  • Dubai is a global, forward-thinking city and is generally tolerant of world cultures, so no need to try to mimic Arabic styles of dress. Wearing casual street-clothes that you would wear in your home country is fine as long as the clothes are relatively modest.

Step 5 Make sure your passport is up-to-date and apply for a visa if necessary.

  • Be sure to have a confirmed round-trip ticket and a passport valid for six months after arrival when you go through customs in Dubai in order to ensure you’ll be granted a visa.
  • Visa requirements differ by country, so check the UAE immigration website to see whether you qualify for a visa on arrival or need to apply ahead of time. Visit https://www.emirates.com/english/before-you-fly/visa-passport-information/uae-visa-information/ .

Booking Your Trip

Step 1 Purchase a round-trip plane ticket to Dubai International Airport (DXB).

  • If you’re looking to splurge, consider the club suites a signature suites, which include spacious family-sized room options and exciting options like the Poseidon and Neptune Underwater suites.
  • All hotel rooms at Atlantic come with complimentary unlimited access to the Aquaventure Waterpark and the Lost Chambers Aquarium.
  • If you need special accommodations, call ahead and ask the concierge what options are available.

Step 3 Make dinner reservations ahead of time.

  • There are several more casual and outdoor restaurants that don't need reservations if you prefer to play it by ear.

Step 4 Plan your route from the airport to Atlantis.

  • Taxis are relatively cheap in Dubai, and it’s easy to navigate the city solely by taxi. App-based ride services like Uber and Careem are also available.
  • Dubai is expanding its metro system, but it currently doesn’t have a station at Atlantis. [6] X Research source

Step 5 Book a helicopter tour for a special and memorable way to experience Dubai from above.

  • Helicopter tours can be arranged by emailing the concierges at Atlantis.

Enjoying the Attractions

Step 1 Go on slides and water rides in the Aquaventure water park.

  • The Aquaventure water park includes interconnecting waterways where you can float on an innertube and journey throughout the park. The Rapids are a 1.6 km river ride, and The Torrent is a wave generator that produces tides reaching over a meter high. [8] X Research source
  • Guests must be at least 12 years old and 4 feet tall (1.2 meters) in order to ride the larger water slides at Atlantis, including the Aquaconda, the world’s largest water-slide. The Splashers Play Area offers water slides, climbing frames, and water cannons that younger children can enjoy. [9] X Research source

Step 2 Swim with dolphins at Dolphin Bay.

  • The Dolphin Encounter is an opportunity for guests of all ages to wade in a pool and interact with dolphins, while the Dolphin Adventure takes place in a deep pool and includes a belly-ride with a dolphin. Tickets should be purchased well in advance, and range from 200 USD to 400 USD per guest.

Step 3 Observe the marine life at the Lost Chambers Aquarium.

  • The aquarium contains 10 themed chambers and is home to over 65,000 marine animals and more than 250 species of fish. [10] X Research source
  • The Lost Chambers Aquarium offers several educational tours and guided experiences, including a yoga class. Some of these, including the yoga class, have limited space and need to be booked in advance to guarantee a spot.

Step 4 Relax at the Shuiqi Spa.

  • Shiseido is a facial and body treatment designed as a combination of Eastern and Western traditions, techniques, and technologies. [11] X Research source

Step 5 Take a trip to downtown Dubai.

  • You can access downtown Dubai from Atlantis in 30 minutes by car or taxi ride.
  • The Dubai Mall located in downtown is the largest shopping mall in the world, and it is the most-visited retail and entertainment building on the planet, welcoming tens of millions of visitors every year. [12] X Research source

Step 6 Get in touch with the local culture at the Al-Fahidi historical neighborhood or souks along Dubai Creek.

  • If you take a day trip to downtown Dubai, within a short taxi ride you can find Al-Fahidi historical neighborhood, where you can see an example of the old way of life in Dubai and get exposed to traditional-style architecture. [13] X Research source
  • Encircling the downtown area is the Dubai Creek, where various merchants and traders presenting items from around the Middle East have set up stalls to market and sell their goods. [14] X Research source

Expert Q&A

Rates can vary widely by room type and season. "We Paid" is intended to give a general sense of price, but you might find considerably different rates for your trip.

When we book, we aim for the optimum season for the destination, but we avoid holidays and major public events, when prices are highest. We generally book a room at one category up from the most basic.

We take advantage of promotional rates, when possible. That means the rate you see above might have included other benefits, such as spa or meal credits.

Atlantis The Royal

With 584-foot-tall stacks of larger-than-life blocks soaring over Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis The Royal instantly cemented its status as a Dubai icon when it debuted in 2023. It didn’t hurt that Atlantis The Royal enlisted Beyoncé for a much-talked-about private performance as part of the year’s splashiest hotel grand opening .

But the resort goes over the top on everything. Inside the smooth white marble interiors, choose among 17 restaurants from top-tier chefs like Heston Blumenthal and José Andrés along with five nightlife venues. More than 90 swimming pools dot the grounds. The property boasts over a mile of beachfront, the largest privately owned stretch of sand in Dubai. It also hosts the world’s largest jellyfish aquarium.

In addition, a stay grants you entry to nearby sister property Atlantis, The Palm ’s Aquaventure — which holds the titles of the world’s largest waterpark and the waterpark with the most waterslides (50) — and Lost Chambers Aquarium. And the 795 lavish accommodations all come with gold-plated toothbrushes and razors in the bathrooms. Atlantis The Royal aims to treat every guest like a king or queen.

  • The boundary-pushing, modernist architecture by New York-based Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates makes this Dubai hotel a must-see. Six towers make up the 1,640-foot-long curved building, and all of them connect with a nearly 300-foot sky bridge. The dramatic design makes the resort a worthy architectural successor to the city’s well-known futuristic structures.
  • The surrounding water inspires the blue-accented contemporary accommodations and the art mimicking waves and droplets. Amenities abound, including Graff and Hermès toiletries, Frette bathrobes, roomy egg-shaped bathtubs and Nespresso coffee machines. Yet, you might overlook these luxuries when you see the floor-to-ceiling windows and balconies, which face either the sea and the cityscape or the vast blue of the bay. For an extra indulgence, opt for one of the 44 suites and penthouses with a pool.
  • Take in breathtaking sky-high views from Cloud 22. The adults-only infinity pool puts you 22 stories above the gulf with the distinctive pink Atlantis, The Palm on one side, the sail-shaped Burj Al Arab on the other and the Dubai skyline front and center. Gaze at the landscape while swimming in the mosaic-bottomed pool or from the in-water daybed under a flower-like umbrella.
  • Atlantis The Royal is a dining destination. Its celebrity-chef-studded culinary roster includes Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Jaleo by José Andrés, Ariana’s Persian Kitchen, La Mar by Gastón Acurio, Estiatorio Milos by Costas Spiliadis and Nobu by the Beach, the brand’s first pool and beach club.
  • Retreat to AWAKEN Wellness for some relaxation and pampering. The 54,303-square-foot facility features 15 treatment suites, a VIP suite with private access, a hypnotherapy suite, a fitness recovery suite, a six-room hammam sensorium, halotherapy salt rooms, meditation gardens and more.
  • Try flavorful, modern takes on classic Persian dishes like fesenjoon , a rich walnut and pomegranate stew with chicken and gold leaves, at Ariana’s Persian Kitchen. Iranian-American chef Ariana Bundy’s debut restaurant feels light and bright with sculptural white vaulted ceilings; light pink marble; pink, lavender and pale green seats; and turquoise tables on the terrace.
  • Heralded chef Gastón Acurio showcases Peruvian cuisine at La Mar. The open kitchen in the wood-and-stone Jeffrey Beers-designed space turns out cebiches, tiraditos  (similar to sashimi), anticuchos (meat kebabs) and lomo saltado  (Peruvian steak).
  • Sit on the terrace at Estiatorio Milos overlooking the fiery Skyblaze Fountain while savoring seafood-heavy Greek Mediterranean fare like lobster pasta and whole fish sashimi. Or select your preferred catch from the fish market display and its preparation: grilled, salt crusted, raw, fried or ahnisto (poached with vegetables).
  • Enjoy a festive Spanish dinner at Jaleo, where celebrated chef José Andrés makes the experience fun with a live paella station, a tapas bar, ham carving, memorable shareable bites and lots of sangria in the dining room accented with red, yellow and orange.
  • For its contemporary British dishes, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal finds inspiration from an unlikely source: the 1300s. The restaurant plays with the gastronomic favorites of yesteryear, like the meat fruit, a mandarin and chicken liver parfait, and the tipsy cake, a spit-roast pineapple dessert. But save room for a cone from the liquid nitrogen ice cream trolley.

KPF was an almost inevitable choice for Kerzner International, the firm behind both the old and new Atlantis. Along with being responsible for New York’s neighborhood-defining new Hudson Yards project, KPF has designed six of the 12 tallest towers in the world, ranging from the Shanghai World Financial Center to the Lotte World Tower in Seoul, South Korea. The firm is also a luxury-hotel veteran, responsible for aesthetically inventive properties such as Hong Kong’s Mandarin Oriental, Rosewood Hong Kong at Victoria Dockside and Rosewood Bangkok.

Although wholly new and original, the design of the new Atlantis pays homes to the original one next door. Atlantis the Royal takes a thoroughly modern approach to classic sculptural towers—stacks of individual blocks each packed with their own set of distinctive amenities. Six inimitable towers are joined together by a central skybridge nearly 300 feet long. Within each block are cut-out openings that add depth and intrigue to the hotel’s overall design aesthetic while helping to illuminate the overall property from within. The result: an instant landmark on the Dubai skyline that is as simple as it is unforgettable. Kerzner describes the design as a reimagined take on the classic arches and arcades of Roman aqueducts.

“The building doesn’t really have a front or a back, which is unusual, and this multi-directional aspect of the building is a special aspect of its design,” says von Klemperer. “The way the structure acts as a sort of screen, which allows views to go both ways, could be seen to reference the screens of mosques and Islamic architecture.

Coming in at $1.6 billion, the materials used in the construction of Atlantis the Royal are as impressive as its look. The 1,500-foot-long, 550-foot-tall hotel required almost one million square feet of glass, around 1.6 million square feet of marble and 7.8 million cubic feet of concrete to construct.

Much like the rest of the hotel, Von Klemperer describes the bridge “as a very entertaining place to go . . . but also a very serious piece of architecture.” One that is set to become a landmark not just for Dubai, but for the entire Persian Gulf region.

IBCCES - International Board of Credentialling and Continuing Education Standards

Dubai on Track to Become First Certified Autism Destination™ in Eastern Hemisphere, Sets Stage for Accessible and Inclusive Global Tourism

Dubai on Track to Become First Certified Autism Destination™ in Eastern Hemisphere, Sets Stage for Accessible and Inclusive Global Tourism

The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) is proud to announce that Dubai has made remarkable progress in becoming the first Certified Autism Destination™ in the Eastern Hemisphere. This milestone, achieved in just over a year, marks a significant chapter in Dubai’s commitment to inclusivity and awareness, aligning perfectly with Autism Acceptance Month this April.

This dedication is reflected in several key achievements:

  • More than 14, 006 individuals working in Dubai’s tourism industry have completed thorough training on autism and sensory awareness using the Dubai Way platform.
  • More than 380 hotels have begun the certification process to become Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) designated, ensuring a warm and relaxing stay for autistic travelers.
  • There are more than 30 locations throughout Dubai that have already been awarded IBCCES certifications, certified locations include:

Aventura Park , Atlantis Aquaventure , Green Planet Dubai, Motiongate , The H Dubai Hotel , VIDA Dubai Marina Hotel, VIDA Creek Harbour Hotel, VIDA Emirates Hills, The ADDRESS Dubai Mall (former Fountain Views), The ADDRESS Downtown, ADDRESS Beach Resort, The ADDRESS Grand Creek Harbour, The Address Sky View , woo-hoo! Children’s Museum , Dubai International Airpor t, Palace Downtown, Armani Dubai Hotel , Play DXB, EMAAR Adventure Park, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Dubai Ice Rink, Kidzania Dubai, Kidzania Abu-Dhab i, Atlantis The Palm, Atlantis The Royal , Jumeirah Creekside Hote l, Expo City Dubai, Reel Cinemas Dubai, Pullman Dubai Creek City Centre Hotel, Hotel Boulevard, The Heritage Hotel, JW Marriott Hotel Marina, Kempinski The Boulevard, and Kempinski Central Avenue, Emirates City-Check In locations in DIFC, Ajman, Port Rashid, and Dubai Harbour .

Awarding of CAC certificate to Dubai International Airport Officials

“Dubai’s rapid progress is a shining example for destinations worldwide,” said Myron Pincomb, Board Chairman of IBCCES.  “Typically, achieving Certified Autism Destination™ status would take a city three years and Dubai’s record-breaking pace reflects the strong community support and leadership from its key partners. For us, this is just the beginning, and we’re brimming with excitement for another year of teamwork, eager to see Dubai achieve Certified Autism Destination™ status by working closely together.”

One of the key drivers of Dubai’s success is the implementation of DCT’s Autism and Sensory Awareness training program on the Dubai Way platform. This training program, launched on World Autism Awareness Day in 2023, highlights the collaborative efforts of IBCCES, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), and the Dubai College of Tourism (DCT).

Certification ceremony with IBCCES and EMAAR Hospitality Group

As the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) predicts a record-breaking year for global tourism in 2024, destinations prioritizing accessibility like Dubai stand to benefit the most. Dubai’s well-defined roadmap, demonstrated by their remarkable progress towards becoming the first Certified Autism Destination™ in the Eastern Hemisphere, serves as a valuable blueprint for the industry. Their success story, not only catering to the autistic community but also broadening their tourist base, offers valuable insights and paves the way for a more inclusive future of travel. This commitment to accessibility ensures everyone feels welcome to explore the world.

Awarding of CAC Certificate to The Green Planet

IBCCES has been the leader in cognitive disorder training and certification for healthcare, education, and corporate professionals around the globe for more than 20 years. IBCCES is the only global credentialing board providing travel and entertainment organizations with training and certification from subject-matter experts and autistic self-advocates, and other resources, as well as long-term support that helps them understand how to better accommodate and assist autistic or sensory-sensitive visitors and their families.

IBCCES also created AutismTravel.com, a free online resource for families that lists certified destinations and connects families to other resources and each other. Each destination listed on the site has met the Certified Autism Center™ (CAC) requirements.

About IBCCES

Committed to providing The Global Standard for Training and Certification in The Field of Cognitive Disorders – IBCCES provides a series of certifications that empower professionals to be leaders in their field and improve the outcomes for the individuals they serve. These programs are recognized around the world as the leading benchmark for training and certification in the areas of autism and other cognitive disorders.
