Excellent staff and service

Our first holiday :)

We came in to book our first holiday together at Barrhead travel down at Cameron Toll! We had a lovely consult with Amy! She gave us the best deals and was so lovely, She put us at ease with ways to pay and that we could go back in any time if we had any questions or needed help with travel insurance etc!

A holiday booking without the faff

I always find myself at ease when looking and booking a holiday with Barrhead. The Agent (Allison) listens to what I wish for and gives me the best price for my holiday. I get treated as a human being and not as pound sign. So a very big thank you.

Went into the branch in Glenrothes last…

Went into the branch in Glenrothes last Wednesday and on Monday we were in Rhodes! The girl that arranged it for us knew what we were looking for (although ended up in Greece instead of thinking we wanted Spain beforehand) and we were no time at all and all has worked out great! 👍

Unbothered staff Glasgow fort branch…

I’d gone into the Glasgow fort branch and told Louise we wanted to go to Laganas, Zante, dates and board basis to celebrate my daughters 18th but when I saw the email I sad she had booked us in a totally different area of the island. I responded and she replied to say to contact the branch next day. I then had numerous calls with Michelle as the TUI systems were down so I was worrying it wouldn’t be changed which really upset my daughter. The day after that I spoke with Christian who found us what I asked for in the first place however not the board basis, instead I had to exceed our original budget, go all inclusive and pay £186 extra!. I told him the girls wouldn’t eat the food but he said this was all he had and wouldn’t help me further despite the budget I had originally. I used to enjoy the experience booking with the travel agent but after this I will book online in future. I’m hoping this holiday will be worth it

Thorough, professional and friendly

Simon was very thorough, efficient and approachable from our initial enquiry through to booking our cruise. Nothing was too much trouble and he was not pushing us into a decision in any way. It was our first experience booking a holiday through Barrhead Travel but I doubt that it will be our last. I interacted with other members of staff in person and on the phone during our experience and was also impressed. A very positive experience overall.

First class service at Silverburn

Zach was amazing when we visited Silverburn branch in Glasgow. We didn’t know where we wanted to go to but we knew what we wanted re facilities and budget and Zach worked his magic and did just that. He was so patient.

New book club launching at Fort Kinnaird

Fort kinnaird is teaming up with musselburgh library and has set up a free book club hoping to bring the community together over the joy of reading.  .

The club will be hosted at the centre by the Musselburgh Library Team, with readers encouraged to bring along the book they’re currently reading or a favourite novel to discuss and take inspiration from others.

Launching in Caffè Nero on Thursday 25 April, from 10am – 11am, the book club will then continue to meet on the last Thursday of every month. Booking is not required, and a free hot drink will be available for all attendees at the first session.

The centre’s book swap is also being revived. More than 300 books were exchanged by the community last year, and this year, in addition to the ‘Little Library’ of children’s books in the play area to exchange for free, there will also be a dedicated area for novels for all ages to swap in Caffè Nero. Both book swaps will be available from Thursday 25 April onwards.

Liam Smith, centre director at Fort Kinnaird, said: “From our long-term partnership with the National Literacy Trust, we know how important access to books and reading is for children, not only for literacy development but also mental wellbeing – which is why we launched our book swap initiative last year.

“But we know reading is equally valuable to adults and it’s brilliant to be able to take our support even further with the launch of the book club, bringing the local community together to socialise and chat over a good book, or several!

“A special thank you goes to Musselburgh Library and Caffè Nero for providing their expertise and a venue.” 

Wilma Porteous, community librarian at Musselburgh Library, said: “We are so passionate about the benefits of reading, both for wellbeing and education, and were delighted when Fort Kinnaird approached us to work on this book club together. 

“Whether you’re into thrilling crime novels or prefer a literary classic, the book club is the perfect excuse to while away an hour with fellow readers.”
