You could save this much:, check out our answers to faqs, how does the berlin welcome card work.

The Berlin Welcome Card includes a travel ticket for the public transport service (such as bus & rail) and the Berlin Welcome Card guide . The Berlin Welcome Card is available as an online ticket and a hardticket . When purchasing the Welcome Card, each visitor will also receive the practical Berlin Welcome Card guide. One guide is sufficient per group (maximum 4 people), another guide is needed for each additional person.

Upon presentation of the ticket and the guide, visitors will receive the respective discounts & rebates. When purchasing the Berlin Welcome Card including Museum Island, the visitor gets once-daily free access to the museums on Berlin’s Museum Island (special exhibitions are excluded) during the period of validity.

The 48 hours and 72 hours variants have a sliding period of validity. The card is valid for 48 or 72 hours from the moment it is used for the first time (validation). Example: You have a Berlin WelcomeCard for 48 hours. You validate the card on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. The card is then valid until 09:29 on Monday. The 4, 5 & 6 day variant is valid from the first calendar day of use until midnight on the last calendar day. Example: You have a Berlin WelcomeCard for 4 days. You can validate the card on Tuesday at any time. The card is then valid until midnight (midnight) on Friday.

Online tickets do not have to be separately validated before being used for the first time .

Which types of Berlin Welcome Card are there?

The Berlin Welcome Card is available as two ticket types:

Type 1: as a discount card with many discount partners:

  • Berlin (tariff zone Berlin AB, valid for one adult and up to 3 children between the ages of 6 and up to and including 14 years old)
  • Berlin+Potsdam (tariff zone Berlin ABC, valid for one adult and up to 3 children between the ages of 6 and up to and including 14 years old)
  • Berlin Welcome Card Museum Island (tariff zone Berlin AB or Berlin+Potsdam ABC, valid for one adult including free entry into the museums at Museum Island, except for special exhibitions! Children up to and including 14 years old travel free on the ticket).

Type 2: as an all-round carefree pass with more than 30x entry included:

  • Berlin Welcome Card all inclusive with and without travel ticket for the tariff zone Berlin ABC (up to 3 children travel free of charge on an adult’s travel ticket) including free entry at more than 30 partners valid for one adult. Children age 3 - 14 need their own WelcomeCard all inclusive for kids.

Important : for journeys from/to Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), you will need a Berlin Welcome Card for the zone ABC. Unfortunately, an extension of the Berlin Welcome Card AB to include a connection ticket for tariff zone C is not possible.

Who can you bring along on a Berlin Welcome Card?

Any number of children up to their 6th birthday can travel free with all types of Berlin Welcome Card. What’s more, up to 3 children between the ages of 6 and 14 can also travel free on their parents’ ticket or when accompanying an adult. Prams, luggage and one dog can also travel free of charge. A reduced-fare travel ticket is required for each additional dog. You need an additional bicycle ticket if you want to take your bike.

Where can I buy the Berlin Welcome Card (sales outlets)?

Before your arrival in Berlin As an online ticket, ticket voucher or hardticket in our online shop, or by ringing the Berlin Service Center on: +49 (0)30- 25 00 25

On-site At Berlin tourist information centres,  many Berlin hotels as well as at sales outlets and public transport companies' tickets machines (S-Bahn Berlin GmbH and BVG). You can also get the Berlin Welcome Card directly upon arrival in the arrivals area at the Berlin airports. You can then get the associated guide at the Berlin tourist information centres as well as at BVG and S-Bahn sales outlets.

Which regions are covered by the tariff zones Berlin AB or Berlin ABC?

The sections A and B each cover the actual urban area, whereby the outer limit of section B is largely identical to the city limits. Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) is located in tariff zone Berlin C . For this reason, tourists arriving at the Berlin Brandenburg airport BER need the Berlin Welcome Card for the tariff zone ABC in order to have unrestricted use of public transport. Section C extends – measured from the city limits – up to a distance of 10 to 15 km into the surrounding areas. Exceptions here are tourist and special lines and journeys with Deutsche Bahn. Unfortunately, an extension of the Berlin Welcome Card AB to a connection ticket for tariff zone Berlin C is not possible.

Can you travel to Potsdam with the Berlin Welcome Card?

Visitors to Berlin who want to travel to Potsdam or Sachsenhausen need the Berlin Welcome Card for tariff zone ABC in order to use the public transport service without any restrictions. An extension of the Berlin Welcome Card AB to a connection ticket for tariff zone C is unfortunately not possible.

How is the period of validity for the Berlin Welcome Card calculated?

It is possible to validate the card up to 31/12 of the calendar year in which the purchase was made. However, the latest period of validity is up to 02/01 (48-hour ticket) or 03/01 (72-hour ticket) or 03/01 at 12am (4-day ticket) or 04/01 at 12am (5-day ticket) or 05/01 at 12am (6-day ticket) of the following year.

The public transport ticket must be validated once before starting the journey in the ticket validation machine (except online tickets) . The discounts included in the guide are exclusively valid combined with your Berlin Welcome Card travel ticket and only after its validation.

Where can I get the guide if I already have the ticket?

The guide belongs to the Berlin Welcome Card and must always be presented when claiming discounts. You will receive the guide upon presentation of your Berlin Welcome Card ticket (from the machines) at Berlin tourist information centres as well as at BVG and S-Bahn sales outlets. The guide is also available as a downloadable version .

Can I cancel or exchange the ticket?

Booked tickets cannot be cancelled. The ticket cannot be exchanged / rebooked for a different day of validity. All the details are listed in our General Terms and Conditions.

Save with the Berlin Welcome or City Tour Cards on Transport and Sightseeing

Buy the Berlin Welcome Card or City Tour discount passes for big savings and cheap deals on transportation fares, sightseeing, culture, entertainment, and restaurants.

Seeing the Reichstag from Berlin Bus 100 - Transportation is covered by the Berlin Welcome Card

Visitors to Berlin may save on public transportation tickets, admission fees to popular sights, restaurants, culture, and entertainment by using the Berlin Welcome Card or the Berlin City Tour Card. These two discount passes allow for unlimited travel on Berlin’s comprehensive public transportation system (including buses, trams, trains, and ferries) and discounts of at least 25% on city tours, boat cruises, museum and top sightseeing sites admission fees, discounts on restaurant meals, and entertainment. New versions that exclude transportation are also available and are generally very good savings deals too. The Berlin Welcome Card All – Inclusive is much more expensive but an excellent choice for especially first-time visitors as many very expensive sights are covered in full.  Buy Berlin Welcome Cards online.

Save with the Berlin Welcome Card and the Berlin City Tour Card

For a city with over 30 different kinds of public transportation tickets , having a single discount card for tourists was always going to be too simple. Berlin thus has two major official tourist discount passes: the Berlin Welcome Card and the Berlin City Tour Card. These two tourist discount passes are very similar and similarly priced but the slightly more expensive Berlin Welcome Card generally gives the best value.

Both standard Berlin discount cards include unlimited use of public transportation and give discounts to various sights, restaurants, tours, and entertainment. Both cards are available with validities of 48 hours, 72 hours, or four to six days. (Note that the four to six days cards expire at midnight on the final day, irrespective of what hour it was originally validated.)

Both discount cards may be bought with transportation for either zone AB or ABC (or without transportation being included). The ABC card is sometimes referred to as Berlin-Potsdam as it includes transportation to and discounts on sights in Potsdam and Oranienburg , as well as transportation to Berlin-Brandenburg Airport (BER).

The Berlin Welcome Card (72h and 6 days) and 24-hour City Card are also available as a basic option without transportation included.

The Berlin Welcome Card All-Inclusive is much more expensive but an excellent choice for especially first-time visitors as many very expensive sights are covered in full. See Save with the Berlin Welcome Card All-Inclusive for more details.

GetYourGuide

Families Save with the Discount Cards in Berlin

In contrast to previous policy, families may now save with both the AB and ABC zone cards. Up to three children aged 6 to 14 may travel for free with an adult using a Berlin Welcome Card. Discounts are also applied for these children at many sights.

Children under six (as well as one dog per cardholder) travel for free with any adult tickets on Berlin public transportation.

Differences between the Berlin Welcome and City Tour Cards

The main differences between the Berlin City Tour Card and the Berlin Welcome Card are that the Welcome Card gives discounts to over 180 partners and the City Tour Card at just over 70. The Welcome Card comes with a 150-page guidebook while the City Tour Card comes with a fold-out brochure and map. Anyone may download the Welcome Card booklet for free and it is worth doing even if not buying the card itself.

The standard Welcome Card is marginally more expensive than the City Tour Card but is valid at many more attractions and often gives bigger discounts. Most visitors will probably find the best deal by using the Berlin Welcome Card, although the discounts offered by the City Tour Card are probably of more interest to younger travelers.

The special and very popular Berlin Welcome Card Museum Insel is valid for 72 hours and adds admission to the state museums on Museum Island . (Free time-slot reservations are still required for visiting the Neues Museum and Pergamon Panorama (The Pergamonmuseum itself is closed until at least 2027.)

Buying the Berlin City Tour Card & Berlin Welcome Card

The Berlin City Tour Card with a foldout brochure and map is available from BVG (Berlin bus) and S-Bahn ticket offices as well as around 300 hotels in Berlin. If the ticket is bought from vending machines or from bus drivers, the brochure can be collected later from a BVG or S-Bahn ticket office. It is also sold online but must usually be exchanged in Berlin for a paper ticket, or request an email a print-at-home option.

The Berlin Welcome Card is generally available from the same venues as well as from the Berlin Tourist Information Offices and DB German Railways ticket windows. The five-day Berlin Welcome Card cannot be bought on buses or from vending machines. The cards are also sold online but a paper printout is usually required and not just a mobile phone screenshot.

The Welcome Card can conveniently also be bought on arrival in Berlin at:

  • Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Main Train Station) from the Berlin Info Store (Ground Level, Europa Platz exit);
  • Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER): Welcome Center tourist information office in Terminal 1, Level E0;
  • Berlin Tourist Info Centers in the Humboldt Forum or at the Brandenburg Gate

Discounts Offered by the Berlin Welcome & City Tour Cards

The largest portions of the price of these tourist passes are for public transportation. However, further savings can be significant too. Discounts of at least 25% are given on admission ticket prices at many museums including the DDR , German History, German Technology, Wall, and Berlin Jewish Museum.

Discount pass holders generally also save at least 25% on city sightseeing bus tours of Berlin and cruises on the Spree River and other Berlin waterways. Similar discounts are granted to most walking and cycling tours including the very popular English Berlin Walks and Berlin on Bike tours. The biggest single discounts are for theatre shows but it may be difficult to actually cash in on these discounts as the tickets may usually only be bought on the same day or a few days in advance.

The Berlin Welcome Card and City Tour Card are generally good value for money. The difference between two standard Berlin public transportation day tickets and the 48h tourist discount cards can easily be made up by the savings offered on a single admission to Madame Tussauds Berlin, or a visit to two or three other museums. See also Tips on Public Transportation Tickets in Berlin for more ideas on how to use the buses and trains in Berlin as well as suggested bus routes that pass by Berlin’s top sights.

  • A crucial rule to using the Berlin Welcome Card for transportation is that you’ve got to get it stamped by a ticket validation machine before embarking on a trip . These machines are not too hard to find, and you can easily get it stamped at the tube or city railway stations, and on the trams and buses.
  • Remember to carry your ID with you at all times when you’re using the Berlin Welcome Card. Officials will mostly check your ID and verify the ticket at most of the tourist attractions. This is important for redeeming your card as well.
  • Be careful about the different zones while traveling in Berlin. For easy reference, remember that Zone A refers to the inner city of Berlin up to and including the S-Bahn Ring. You can access Zone B from outside the S-Bahn Ring up to the city limits. The rest of the area around Berlin refers to Zone C.
  • The best part about the Berlin Welcome Card is that you can use it for attractions that fall outside the central city, which makes it easy to commute and visit these sites.

Berlin visitors have a choice of several city passes to help them navigate the city by public transport and offer discounts for museums, sightseeing tours, attractions, bars, restaurants, and clubs.

Finding the right pass can be confusing, but we’ll do our best to provide you with highlights and insider tips to help you find the best choice for your trip.

The first step to finding your pass is to figure out as best you can what you want to do while visiting Berlin. It's best not to let any single tourist discount pass or card dictate to you what you will see.

Secondly, you should decide whether you will use a public transport ticket .

There are many different tourist passes to choose from in Berlin, but none offer exactly the same benefits as another.

Berlin Discount Passes

A discount pass , such as the Berlin Welcome Card, provides free travel on the Berlin public transportation system along with deals on various tours and attractions (think al-a-carte).

Your savings are more limited with these cards, but they are less expensive and you have more flexibility than an all-inclusive pass.

All Inclusive Berlin Tourist Pass

An all-inclusive pass , such as the Berlin Welcome Card All Inclusive, will allow you free entry to visit certain attractions (think all-inclusive resort).

These passes are limited by the # of days that you choose and one of the options o

So, you can visit as many attractions and tours as you can fit in that timespan.

These are the most expensive options, but you have the potential to save the most money with them.

There are two all-inclusive passes to choose from and we compare them below .

Berlin Museum Pass

Meanwhile, the Museum Pass will give you free admission to more than 30 different museums in and around the city, but it does not include transportation or any other discounted attractions.

If all else fails, you can also save money on various activities in Berlin by taking advantage of combo deals offered by bus tour companies.

DISCOUNT PASSES

If you don’t feel like spending a lot of money on an all-inclusive pass, or maybe you are not sure that you would use the all-inclusive card enough to make it worth buying, then you might want to consider one of the following discount passes.

These services typically include free public transport along with discounts on several popular attractions.

This is a great option for travelers who want to take control of the places that they visit and save money on transportation.

If you are considering this opportunity, make sure to read about how the AB/ABC Zone tickets work in Berlin.

This Berlin Welcome Card offers a discount pass that can help you save a lot of money on admission to several popular attractions.

The Welcome Card offers various options in terms of duration and tariff zone.

Travelers can choose either Berlin city centre (tariff zone AB) or Berlin and surrounding areas (tariff zone ABC).

Berlin Welcome Card Benefits

While the discounts they offer aren't necessarily as good as their competitors, it's easy to see how you could easily save quite a bit of money using this pass.

Berlin Travel Pass

Each of these discount passes includes a ticket for public transportation throughout Berlin.

The lower-priced options include an AB Zone ticket while the higher-priced passes have an ABC Zone ticket.

No matter which transit pass you choose to purchase, it is important to understand some basic details about these public transport tickets.

Be sure to read our guide on how to use Berlin's mass transportation system .

Useful for Several Services

The transport ticket is valid on all subways (U-Bahn and S-Bahn), suburban trains (RE and RB), buses, night buses, trams, and also for two ferries.

With this card in hand, you shouldn’t have much trouble getting around the city of Berlin.

AB or ABC Tariff Zones

It’s important to understand the difference between the AB and ABC Fare Zones.

While the AB Zone pass will provide transportation within the inner city, the ABC Zone is useful for traveling around the suburbs of Berlin as well.

This might come in handy if you intend to visit any locations on the outskirts of Berlin, such as Potsdam or Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp , or if you plan to use the BER Airport.

However, a single-ride addon ticket for Zone C costs only €1.80 per ride.

Berlin Walking Tours

Kids Ride for Free

With each of these discount passes, an unlimited number of children up to the age of 6 can travel for free.

They also allow up to 3 kids between the ages of 6-14 for free with each pass.

Luggage Is Also Free

Visitors are welcome to bring one piece of luggage or one bag per person on public transport.

Certain Items Might Cost Extra

If you have a bicycle or similarly sized item, you may be asked to pay extra as these types of items are not included with the pass.

That being said, both the Berlin Welcome Card and the Easy City Pass will allow you to bring a dog on board.

Transport Ticket Must Be Validated

Before you can use your AB/ABC Zone ticket, it must be validated by stamping it once.

You will find machines to validate your ticket near most metro stations and other areas where you can find public transport.

You only need to stamp your ticket once – if you stamp it again, it will be void.

ALL-INCLUSIVE PASSES

All-inclusive passes are the most expensive option, but they also offer the widest range of activities and the most potential for savings.

If you have the time and the desire to experience a bunch of different museums, tours, and other attractions, this is likely going to be one of your best options.

Rather than worrying about which sites you can visit, these all-inclusive passes will allow you to explore dozens of notable locations at your leisure.

Berlin Pass or Berlin Welcome Card

There are two All-Inclusive passes offered in Berlin: The Go City Berlin Pass and the Welcome Card All-Inclusive .

Although both services provide access to a lot of entertaining activities, you will notice a few differences between each tourist pass.

Specifically, there are some attractions that are offered on one pass, but not the other.

Bearing that in mind, we’ll do our best to highlight in red tours and attractions that are exclusive to either card.

The Welcome Card All-Inclusive

Although this card doesn’t provide as much variety, the Welcome Card All-Inclusive does provide admission to some museums and historic sites that aren’t offered by the Berlin Pass (see below).

You can also get this pass from 2 up to 6 days as opposed to the 3-day option above.

Overall, this pass is less expensive, so depending on what you want to see, this card might make more sense for you.

What they lack in variety, they make up for in overall value.

Free admission to 19 museums including:

  • German Spy Museum*
  • Jewish Museum of Berlin
  • The Story of Berlin Museum*
  • The Wall Museum*

Free admission to several attractions including:

  • Berlin Television Tower*
  • Olympiastadion Visitor Center

Free admission to many tours including:

  • Hop-on, Hop-off Bus Tour
  • Berlin Walking Tour
  • Berlin Bike Tour
  • A River Cruise
  • Free use of public transport*

See their full list of attractions and tours here.

A nice perk is that they offer a full refund for cancellation up to 1 day in advance.

Berlin City Card

berlin city tour card abc

Not to be confused with the Berlin Pass, the Berlin City Card is a bare-bones discount card that includes a few items, but ones that you are likely to visit.

By bundling these items into a pass, you will save some money and you also get 10% discounts on many other attractions.

This pass is best for people who are planning to visit a few attractions and like the convenience of having your tickets before you even arrive in Berlin.

The pass includes

  • Skip-the-line entrance to the TV Tower w/ an amazing view of Berlin.
  • Skip-the-line entrance to the Pergamon Museum .
  • Skip-the-line entrance to the DDR Museum .
  • Berlin City Audio Guide for Smartphones.
  • 10% discount on additional activities.
  • Adult (18+) €59
  • Youth (15-17) €29
  • Child (6-14) €20
  • Child (4-5) €19
  • Purchase the Berlin City Card .

How it works:

When you know the dates of your trip and are ready to purchase your City Pass, click here . You will be asked to enter your arrival date and airport.

Once you complete your purchase, you will receive an email asking you to choose the dates/times for your free visits to the Reichstag and the TV Tower.

Once you have completed this entire process, you will get an email including all tickets.

Lastly, you will receive a discount code to get a 10% discount on tickets for other top museums and attractions.

Discover Berlin Pass

This is another prepackaged pass which includes a few of the more popular attractions and activities you can enjoy in Berlin.

One of the nicest things about this service is that you can actually schedule each individual ticket for different dates, giving you plenty of time to enjoy each location.

If you're already planning to visit each of the included attractions, this is a quick and easy way to purchase tickets ahead of time and save at least 10% off general admission prices.

What is Included?

  • Panoramapunkt
  • Berlin TV Tower
  • Cold War Museum
  • Discover Berlin Walking Tour

Unlike other prepackaged passes, this one does not include an additional 10% off other activities.

  • €62.50/Adults (26+)
  • €59/Youth (15-25)
  • €48/Student (15-25)
  • €47/Children (11-14)
  • €33/Children (7-10)
  • €16/Children (4-6)

Purchase the Berlin Discover Pass or learn more .

Things to Consider

As you can see, this pass includes two of the main observation decks in Berlin. While the view from each deck is obviously different, most travelers aren't going to be interested in the same activity twice.

There's also a walking tour included, and we offer several free Berlin walking tours that are an excellent alternative.

Historical Pass Berlin

If you're interested in experiencing the history of Berlin, this pass includes several attractions you might want to visit.

Like other passes from Tiqets, you can pick different dates and times for each ticket, allowing you to take your time and explore the city at your own leisure.

Of course, if you're already planning to visit these locations, this could be an easy way to purchase admission ahead of time and save between 5% - 10% on your tickets!

  • TimeRide Berlin
  • Asisi Panorama - Die Mauer (The Wall)

Unfortunately, this pass does not include 10% off additional activities.

  • €63/Adults (17+)
  • €59/Students (17-26)
  • €57/Youth (15-16)
  • €32/Children (6-14)
  • €17/Children (4-5)

Purchase the Historical Pass Berlin or learn more .

This pass includes a nice variety of activities, including TimeRide, which isn't provided by many other services on our list.

That said, while the Cold War Museum and The Wall exhibit are both related to the history of Berlin, those are really the only two historical attractions on the pass.

Perhaps it needs a different name, but it's definitely worth considering if you want to save money at any of these locations.

Alexanderplatz Pass

If you're planning to visit Alexanderplatz, this pass will cover the cost of a few popular activities in the area.

Each ticket included can be scheduled for specific dates and times, allowing you to plan out your trip ahead of time while you save a bit of money.

Considering most tourists will visit this major plaza in the city centre, chances are this discount pass will come in handy for some travelers.

  • BODY WORLDS Berlin
  • City Sightseeing Hop-on Hop-off Tour

This pass does not include an extra 10% off other activities.

  • €62/Adults (18+)
  • €61/Senior (65+)
  • €59/Youth (15-17)
  • €40/Children (4-14)

Purchase the Alexanderplatz Pass or learn more .

The City Sightseeing Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour makes a stop at Alexanderplatz, so you can actually use that service from this plaza.

While they could certainly add more to this pass, it's a pretty good way to secure tickets for some of the more popular sites in the area.

The Berlin Wall Pass

For many travelers, the Berlin Wall is an absolute must-see attraction, and this is a great way to experience the historic site and learn all about the story of the structure.

In addition to multiple tours of the wall, you'll also have access to a few of the more popular sites related to this historic site.

  • East Side Gallery Audio Tour
  • Explore Berlin Walking Tour

Unfortunately, this pass does not offer an additional 10% off other activities.

  • €41/Adults (17+)
  • €39/Seniors (65+)
  • €33/Student (ID required)
  • €24/Youth (13-16)
  • €14/Children (6-12)
  • Children under 5 are free

Purchase the Berlin Wall Pass or learn more .

While the included tours are undoubtedly great introductions to the subject of the Berlin Wall, we offer our own free Cold War walking tours which provide a lot of useful details about this landmark.

That said, if you're looking for a quick and easy way to take care of everything all at once, this pass is still an excellent option.

Combo Packages and Deals

In addition to all the tourist passes listed above, there are also a variety of combo deals you can use to save money on a variety of fun activities and attractions in Berlin.

These combination packages are an excellent alternative to tourist passes if you're only planning to enjoy a few tours, museums, or other services.

  • Purchase tickets or learn more .

Tips From Locals and Travelers

While we do our best to provide the most unbiased reviews of discount passes, the best way to make sure you're getting the truth is to check and see what actual locals and travelers have to say about these services.

One of the best places to find this kind of information is on Facebook groups such as Berlin Travel Tips .

A lot of people who have either lived in the area or travel there frequently will share their own thoughts on various tourist pass options.

Here are a few of the best tips we could find.

berlin city tour card abc

When it comes to the Welcome Card, it seems that most people are split on whether or not it's worth the money.

One thing most travelers agree on is that it's good if you plan to visit a lot of the included attractions, but if you're not interested in a majority of included activities, it might not be worth it.

Some commenters suggest buying a travel pass instead, because it's definitely a good way to get around the city with ease.

berlin city tour card abc

That said, some travelers feel that the Berlin Welcome Card isn't worth the cost, and they note that you can often save more money through other methods.

This is certainly true, because most museums offer discounted rates to students and young adults, so you might actually save more just by getting a different kind of ticket!

berlin city tour card abc

As John notes about the Museum Pass, most museums will give you the student discount if you have a student ID from other parts of the world.

This is a valuable tip, because most museums around the world only offer student discounts to local students, but that doesn't seem to be the case in Berlin.

berlin city tour card abc

Even so, as Anieze suggests, you should probably check with each museum before heading out.

Taylor Swift The Eras Tour

Lloyds Bank is aiming to help Taylor Swift fans in the UK avoid a cruel summer. The bank has issued an “urgent warning” over ticket scams for the upcoming UK leg of the superstar’s Eras Tour, finding that Swifties are being “targeted by a wave of concert ticket scams flooding social media.”

The institution further estimates that industry-wide across the UK there are likely to have been at least 3,000 victims since tickets went on sale, with over £1 million ($1.25 million) lost to fraudsters so far.

More than 90% of reported cases start with fake ads or posts on Facebook, which includes Facebook Marketplace, according to Lloyds, with dozens of unofficial groups set up specifically for people looking to buy and sell tickets for Taylor Swift concerts.

Lloyds warned, “With all UK dates now sold out, many more fans are likely to fall victim to ticket scams in the coming weeks and months, both leading up to the tour and once the concerts begin in June.”

In its research, Lloyds found that the number of reported scam cases relating to concert tickets more than doubled last summer compared to the same period a year earlier (up by 158%). Among the other major artists most commonly targeted last summer were Coldplay, Harry Styles and Beyonce.

Liz Ziegler, Fraud Prevention Director, Lloyds Bank, said, “For her legion of dedicated Swifties, the excitement is building ahead of Taylor’s Eras Tour finally touching down in the UK this summer. However, cruel fraudsters have wasted no time in targeting her most loyal fans as they rush to pick up tickets for her must-see concerts. It’s easy to let our emotions get the better of us when we find out our favorite artist is going to be performing live, but it’s important not to let those feelings cloud our judgement when trying to get hold of tickets.”

Ziegler suggested, “Buying directly from reputable, authorized platforms is the only way to guarantee you’re paying for a genuine ticket. Even then, always pay by debit or credit card for the greatest protection. If you’re being asked to pay by bank transfer, particularly from a seller you’ve found on social media, that should immediately set alarm bells ringing.”
