Just Jordan - 6 Days

We had a wonderful time exploring and learning about Jordan! It was my second tour and all of the sites were just as memorable as they were the first time that I visited 5 years ago! October is the perfect time to visit as the weather each day was beautiful. We loved most of the hotels that were included in our package and the food is always amazing too!

Jordan Jewels - 5 Days (Breakfast & Dinner)

The tour was advertised as a 5 Day Jordan tour but in fact was 3 days. One day was pick up and one day was drop off. The guide in Petra was used but did not need one as he took 2.5 hours and we had not seen all. He then said it will cost more as we go further out. If he was not with us, we would have completed our ourselves. Therefore we did not need a guide in Jerash. We were told by Vacations to go that we will be refunded AUD$40 which we are still awaiting. I note that this same trip is advertised as a 3 day trip at a much lower price. Overall apart from our driver and transportation which was excellent, we were very disappointed with the limited days and we paid more.

Day 2, Amman/ Jerash/ Ajlun/ Um Qais/ Amman (225 km)

After breakfast, your private tour of Jordan starts with a visit to the Greco-Roman City of Jerash, also known as the city of the thousand columns. Jerash showcases the grandeur of Imperial Rome (and is sometimes referred to as the Pompeii of the East). It is considered one of the largest and most well-preserved sites of Roman architecture in the World outside Italy. As the most pristine Decapolis City (meaning ten cities in Greek) in the modern world, Jerash’s prosperity can be admired in the collonaded main street and lovely Oval Piazza. Visit the town of Ajlun with its fortress; one of the best-preserved examples of medieval Arab military architecture in the entire Middle East, which was once governed by Saladin. Enjoy the magnificent view of the Jordan Valley. Proceed to visit Umm Qais, a city rich with black basalt ruins of the Hellenistic era when it was known as Gadara: a hilltop site in the northwest corner of Jordan with grand views of the Golan Heights and Lake Tiberius (the Sea of Galilee). Umm Qais is also famous for being one of the ten cities that formed the Decapolis. Return to Amman. Overnight at hotel

Day 3 — Amman City Tour/ Desert Castles/ Amman (200 km)

After breakfast, departure to visit the ruins of the Amman  Roman theatre,  the  Citadel and the Umayyad Palace, the tour includes visits to the Archaeological and Folklore Museums. Free time in the old downtown area of the city for walking/shopping then transfer to the  Desert Castles . Visit  Qasr Amra , Al Azraq and  Al Kharaneh and return to Amman. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4, Amman/ Madaba/ Mt Nebo/ Wadi Mujib/ Shoback/ Petra (285 km)

After breakfast, depart Amman for a whole day tour to explore the King’s highway, which was once part of the ancient famed Silk Road. Start by visiting the Christian Town of Madaba “ The City of Mosaics ”. You will be visiting St. George Church with its mosaic map of the Holy Land from Byzantine times, and the Archaeological Park, which houses the remains of several Byzantine churches, including the amazing mosaics of the Church of the Virgin. The park complex includes a school for the restoration and conservation of ancient mosaics. Then take a detour to visit the Monastery in Mount Nebo . Proceed south via Wadi Al Mujib, a deep valley holding one of Jordan’s most breathtaking views. Visit the Shobak castle with its diverse history dated from the Byzantine to the Mamluk period. Day 6, Petra/ Beida/ Wadi Rum (140 km)

After breakfast enjoy a late morning transfer to Beida , also known as Little Petra, and the place where the Nabateans used to entertain their guests. Day 4 , Dead Sea/ Petra Visit (200 km)

After breakfast, depart the Dead Sea south to Petra for a full day visit of the city. We will start our journey to explore Petra, aptly described as the “rose-red city, half as old as time”. The ancient city was founded by the Nabateans 2000 years ago. Its massive architectural structure and its multicoloured stones are an incredible attraction. The visit of the ancient Nabatean capital starts on horseback, followed by a walk through the Siq, a long narrow fissure between two overhanging cliffs. Towards the end of the Siq, you will be spellbound by Petra’s most famous monument; the Treasury. The tour then proceeds to gradually unfold the mysteries of the city. Overnight at hotel.
