At the appointed time, we'll meet at Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal to start our comprehensive tour of Amsterdam , which will take us around the city by land and water. Isn't this the perfect combination to get to know the Dutch capital in depth?

First of all, we'll take a bike tour of Amsterdam , where we'll discover its most emblematic places as we cycle. Over the course of two and a half hours , we'll cycle around important places such as the Jordaan district , which is home to a rich historical and cultural heritage . We'll also pass through Museum Square , where we'll talk about artists such as Van Gogh , Vermeer and Rembrandt .

On our tour, we'll also see the city's most important windmills and go to the harbour area to admire a replica of an 18th-century cargo ship and the famous NEMO Museum . This is a great photo opportunity!

We'll end the tour by dropping off the bikes and telling you where you can start the boat ride through the canals of Amsterdam . Canal cruise review

We tried in February 2024 a one-hour Lovers canal cruise ourselves. We departed from Prins Hendrikkade 25 which is next to Central Station. The staff aboard was friendly and helpful. We received a free audio tour that was available in 19 languages . Although we know a lot about Amsterdam ourselves we still heard many new fun facts. In the map above you can see some of the picture locations we passed by. This is just a handful of some of the great picture locations . You can keep your camera on the table in the boat because you will have a new great picture moment almost every minute. The temperature inside of the boat is pleasant since there are electrical heaters near your seats. The chairs are not too big, and you will sit at the table with 3 chairs on each side. If your body weight is above average we recommend you to take this boat in low hours so you probably have more space. Or to consider a boat that’s a bit more spacious with the seatings.

Good to know that there is a toilet on board, and it would be highly appreciated if you tip the captain and the crew some change. Overall we liked the trip, and the hour flew by.

The city bike tour starts from our office at Spuistraat 30. This is centrally located and close to Amsterdam Central Station. We ride our bikes through the historic city center of Amsterdam and cycle alongside the canals and across the city ‘s bridges.

On one of the first stops, we visit the head office of the Dutch West-Indian Company and learn about the economy and history of 17th century Amsterdam. While getting an understanding about what was known as  Amsterdam ‘s Golden Age , we are headed to the Jordaan, one of the city ‘s most picturesque quarters. We ride our bikes through the quiet backstreets of this former working class area and discover the many hidden gems and secret courtyards of the neighborhood.

Biking in Amsterdam: 19 Tips For Cycling in the Netherlands

After riding a bike in Amsterdam a bunch of times AND talking with a local friend of mine about what she wishes people knew about biking in Amsterdam, I wrote this blog post full of all the tips you need to know before you try it!

🏆 TOP 3 THINGS TO KNOW IF YOU’RE RIDING A BIKE IN AMSTERDAM

Short on time? No problem! ✅ 1. Stay on the bike path (fietspad) only . ✅ 2. Most bike lanes are one-way. ✅ 3. Yield if the shark teeth are facing you.

If you’re planning a trip to Amsterdam , or anywhere in Holland , really, you’ll have found by now about a thousand recommendations suggesting that you “Do as the Dutch Do” and go biking in Amsterdam. And you should! I’ve ridden a bike in Amsterdam many times, and I always recommend people try it! My husband and I recently rented some and biked around Vondelpark, and it was a fabulous time! But, look…Biking is a thing in Amsterdam. It is similar to driving a car in the United States. There are bike rules in the Netherlands, stop lights, bicycle parking lots, and even officers who will ticket you if you’re breaking any of the biking laws. Thankfully, it’s easier than it sounds (if I can do it, you can do it too!). But, it’s important that you know precisely how to go about biking in Amsterdam in order to stay safe, have a great time, and…you know, not look like an idiot.

Cycling in Amsterdam: What You Need to Know

After biking in Amsterdam a few times and talking with some of my friends who are locals, it became clear that there are some tips you need to know if you’re going to explore Amsterdam by bike! You can certainly use the fantastic public transportation to get around , but here is what you should know before you head out on the bike path:

1. Locals Will Know That You’re a Tourist

First, it’s important that you know… As convincing as you may be, locals will know you’re a tourist. If not by your prowess (or lack thereof) on the actual bike, then by the colors or markings on your rental bike. And that’s okay. As long as you’re trying . Don’t let messing up deter you from trying!

2. Know Where the Bike Path Is

Be careful to always bike IN the bike paths (And avoid them when you’re walking!) You will find that the Netherlands has separate roadways- bike paths (or fietspad) – pretty much everywhere. These bike paths are easily distinguishable by their brick-red color. However, it is VERY easy to step into the bike lane on accident when crossing roads.

3. Almost All Bike Lanes are One Way

You’ll know you’re in the bike lane by the white bike spray-painted on the ground. Bike lanes are usually only one-way traffic. In order to tell which direction the lane travels, take a look at the bike on the ground. The bike will face the direction that you are supposed to bike in. If you find yourself looking at an upside-down bicycle, you are going the wrong way!

4. Understand the Right Of Way (Yield) Rules for Cycling in Amsterdam

If you’re cycling in Amsterdam, you need to be confident in the yield or right-of-way rules that govern the bike lanes of Amsterdam. There are three main things you need to know: 🚲 The triangles in the bike lane point to who needs to give the right of way. If they are pointing towards you, then you need to give way before you can proceed. 🚲 The zebra-looking stripes on the road indicate pedestrian crossing areas. You must always yield to pedestrians. 🚲 Trams are one of the largest types of public transportation in Amsterdam. They are plentiful! DO NOT expect that a tram will EVER yield to you. Trams always have the right of way.

5. You Are Not Required By Law to Wear a Helmet

You will notice that, by and large, the local people do not wear helmets when they are biking in Amsterdam. Some people here and there will, but they are generally few and far between. Although it may make you stand out as a tourist a bit more, consider whether it is wise and whether you are skilled enough on a bike to forego the helmet. I personally did not feel like I needed one, since we were riding around leisurely in the park, but you might want one! There are helmets available at bike rental stores, so feel free to grab one if it makes you feel more comfortable.

6. Only Cycle in the Bike Lane

Biking is the primary source of transportation in and around Amsterdam (no, you cannot travel around via canal cruise ). At times, it is helpful to think of your bike in Amsterdam as a car. Just like when you’re at home, your car (bike) is only for riding on the road (bike lane). It is unacceptable to ride anywhere else- especially on the sidewalk. When you take your bike off the road, you need to dismount. NEVER ride your bike on the sidewalk. You’ll see this red and white bike sign where biking is prohibited!

7. Always Stay to the RIGHT!

Just like most transportation options in the United States, you’ll want to stay on the right-hand side of the bike lanes in Amsterdam. AT (pretty much) ALL TIMES! Look, you’re not going to turn into a spectacular Dutch biker in a day or two. So don’t go zooming by on the left. Don’t try to show off, pass locals, and look cool. Just relax and stay to the right. And, for the love of God, when you get startled by a local ringing their bell at you or yelling, try your best not to veer to your left . For some reason, this seems to be the instinctual response of tourists. J UST. STAY. TO. THE. RIGHT. And everything else will be just fine.

8. Pay Attention to the Bicycle Traffic Lights

I think that the bike lights are one of the most fantastic things about transportation in Amsterdam! Yes, there are literally traffic lights for the bicycles- You’ll find them at most major intersections! These lights are pretty much the easiest part of biking in Amsterdam. They work just like ordinary traffic lights. Red lights mean stop and green means go!

9. PSA: Pointing (Hand Signaling) is NOT Rude when Riding a Bike

If I had to choose the most important tip you need to follow while you’re riding a bike in Amsterdam, it would be this one. 🚨 It is crucial that you understand the need to point (hand signal) while riding a bike in Amsterdam. Think of the pointing as your turn signal. Aside from bellowing your plans to the riders behind you (which will likely not be heard over the sounds of trams, cars, tourists, and any other number of things), your only option for communicating your intent to turn is to POINT. It’s simple. Point left or point right. A few moments before you need to start shifting over, hand signal out to the side, and then get moving.

Let me say it louder for the people in the back: 🚨 YOU NEED TO POINT WHEN YOU ARE TURNING!

10. Get Off Your Phone While Cycling in Amsterdam

This biking in Amsterdam tip is so incredibly simple: Do not check your phone in the bike lane. I’ll clarify this as…Do not Facetime in the bike lane. Do not text in the bike lane. Do not call your mom in the bike lane. Do not take “Biking in the Netherlands!” TikToks in the bike lane. Do not look for directions in Google Maps in the bike lane. Do not try to get the perfect Boomerang shot in the bike lane. DO NOT do ANYTHING on your phone in the bike lane!

⭐ Tip: If you must check your phone for directions or something else, pull over to the right as far as possible, dismount, and pop out of the bike lane for a moment. Those around you (including locals) are much more apt to respect this gesture and attempt at intelligence than they would be if you were to crash into another biker while you’re trying to take a selfie. It has happened. It’s not cute. Don’t be that person.

11. Keep Up With the Pace!

You need to figure out how to make pace (keep up) with others in the bike lane. Just as with cars, there is a flow of bicycle traffic that slow-moving cyclists will hinder. Certainly, take the time to figure out the ropes, but, as soon as you’re able, pay attention to the speed of those around you and try to match it as best you can.

12. Don’t Get Caught in the Tram Tracks!

Another main form of transportation in Amsterdam is the tram system. These trams are fantastic…except when you’re trying to cross their tracks on a bike. Be sure to bike at a 45-degree angle across the tram tracks. If not, it is incredibly easy for your bicycle tires to get caught in the space between tracks. This is scary and can be avoided as long as you cross appropriately!

13. Amsterdam Bike Rule: Use a Bike Light at Night

Although it’s possible that you’ll see many Dutch ignoring this rule, the expectation is that all bikes use lights in the evenings. This helps immensely with visibility and safety. Do not ride a bike at night with no light. You want people to be aware of you and know you are coming. You’ll also need to use a bike light at all times during the winter season- both day and night.

14. Ring Your Bell to Pass

If you’re looking to pass someone in the bike lane, ring your bell to signal your intent. But just ring your bell ONCE. No need to get overbearing. Just gently ring your bell, wait a moment, and proceed to pass on the left.

15. Do Not Bike in a Group

A sure way to make a thousand locals in Amsterdam angry is to cycle side-by-side as a group. You simply cannot do it. It is rude as it takes up the entirety of the sidewalk, preventing others from passing your group. Instead, cycle in a line.

16. Double Lock Your Bike

Bike thievery in Amsterdam is a thing. Thousands of bikes are stolen each month. The best way to combat this is to double-lock your bike at all times. Use bike chains (not U-locks), and loop one through the tire and the other through the frame of the bike. This will ensure, as best possible, that your bike remains attached to the stationary object you lock it to and doesn’t go missing.

17. Consider Using Guarded Bicycle Parking

Bike thievery in Amsterdam is such a huge deal that there are a few guarded parking options located throughout the city- even just outside Central Station. The first 24 hours of bicycle parking are free, so if one is nearby, you’ve no reason not to use it! Even if you go over the 24 hours for some reason, the fare is reasonable. 18. Do Not Cycle Under the Influence

We get it…lots of people come to Amsterdam in order to let loose. It is the city where “anything goes.” But, you can’t drive your bike while you’re impaired . If you are under the influence (of alcohol or cannabis), you can not ride your bike. People get fined for this all the time! Ride sober, please!

19. Follow the Rules or End Up In Bicycle Jail

You might not believe it, but there is literally a bicycle jail in Amsterdam. It is called the Bike Depot. While I’ve covered the major tips here, there are still some other things you should know. For instance, locking your bike to one of the many traffic lights or stop signs is illegal. There are so many rules that I just can’t cover them all. Is it easy to cycle around Amsterdam? The truth is, no. It’s not exactly easy. However, it’s also not hard. The rules and directions regarding biking in Amsterdam can sound overwhelming at first. But once you have started riding, you learn quickly. Some things are trickier to learn than others, but you should absolutely still give biking in Amsterdam a try.

Can Tourists Ride Bikes in Amsterdam?

Of course! Tourists can and should ride bikes during their time in the city of Amsterdam. It’s a great way to experience a large piece of the Dutch culture , and, honestly…it’s so fun! It felt like we were flying through the park, and I almost felt like a kid again!

Where to Rent a Bike in Amsterdam

The most popular place to rent a bike in Amsterdam is A-bike . City bikes start at € 8.50 an hour and many other types of bikes are available. I recently rented from here, and it was a seamless process. Plus, they have a rental location right by Vondelpark, which is where I recommend beginners bike. Other places you can rent a bike during your time in Amsterdam are: 🚲 Rent a Bike : Located in the center of Amsterdam with numerous types of bikes available for rent, this is probably the easiest place to grab a bike! Rentals are fairly priced with some as cheap as €8.10 for 3 hours. 🚲 FlickBike: This app allows you to pick up a rental bike pretty much anywhere in the city and drop it at a storage facility near your destination.

I loved biking in Amsterdam; it’s a fantastic place to ride a bike in the Netherlands! Or, you can even ride to close cities and towns near Amsterdam! There are so many places to ride- even for beginners who want to stay out of the busier parts of the city. Plus, there are plenty of bike rental places that are easily accessible throughout the city center.

Look, there’s no way to beat around the bush. Biking in Amsterdam isn’t the easiest thing to do. There are rules, flows of traffic, and excellent bikers to contend with. But, it’s still worth doing. A bike and boat tour between two iconic European canal cities

Some of the most beautiful cities of Flanders and Holland are highlighted during this tour: Bruges, Ghent, Antwerp, and Amsterdam - where you can still sense the charm of days long gone.

This tour goes from Amsterdam-Bruges and in the reverse, from Bruges-Amsterdam. Both itineraries are outlined below.

• Amsterdam – Bruges
• Bruges – Amsterdam

Day 1: Arrival in Amsterdam | Cruise Amsterdam – Vianen (3-9 miles/5-15 km) Embarkation and check-in is at 1:00 pm. Around 2:00 pm, the ship will cruise to Vianen, where you will stay the night. Here, you can enjoy a short test bike ride through the surrounding area. Vianen is a beautiful medieval city with remnants of the old defensive walls and a historic town center.

Overnight in Vianen.

Day 2: Cycle Vianen – Schoonhoven – Kinderdijk | Cruise Kinderdijk – Dordecht (34 miles/56 km) After breakfast, you'll cycle a beautiful route to Schoonhoven, nicknamed 'Zilverstad' ('Silver City') owing to its reputation for talented silversmiths stretching back to the 17th century. As you continue cycling along the Lek River, you'll pass through the Alblasserwaard region to Kinderdijk, a village famous for its impressive row of 19 large windmills - a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You'll have the opportunity to visit on of these iconic Dutch landmarks. From nearby Alblasserdam, you'll take the 'Waterbus', a fast ferry that'll take you and your bike to Dordrecht, one of the oldest towns in Holland, in approximately 10 minutes.

Overnight in Dordrecht.

Day 3: Cruise Dordrecht – Tholen | Cycle Tholen – Kreekrak lock | Cruise Kreekrak lock – Antwerp (13 miles/20 km or 23 miles/36 km) During breakfast, the ship will cruise to Tholen. You'll start today's bike tour by riding through a forested area, the 'Wouwse Plantage', towards the impressive Kreekraksluis (locks). Here, you'll meet your ship and cruise to Antwerp. Day 4: Antwerp – Temse – Dendermonde (29 miles/48 km or 39 miles/64 km) Today’s tour will see you follow a beautiful cycle path out of Antwerp along the tidal Schelde River towards Dendermonde, your home for the night. The landscape around the Schelde is magnificent and undoubtedly one of the natural highlights of the tour.

Day 5: Dendermonde – Ghent (32 miles/52 km) Today you'll continue to follow the River Schelde towards Ghent, where the ship will moor at a lock in a suburb. Ghent, a lively university city with a rich history, is at the junction of the Leie and Schelde Rivers, a position that has granted it the status of being a major trading port since the Roman era. The city features an Opera House, 18 museums, over 100 churches, and more than 400 historical buildings. A major attraction is the St. Bavo Cathedral, where a number of medieval artistic masterpieces are housed, including the world-famous The Adoration of the Mystic Lamb by the van Eyck brothers.

Day 6: Ghent – Bruges (28 miles/45 km) Today your bicycle tour will lead through the beautiful Flemish countryside of West Flanders to Bruges, an iconic Belgian city. Every year, more than 2 million visitors are attracted to the ambiance of Bruges' UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed historic center. An outstanding example of a medieval settlement, Bruges has managed to maintain its historic fabric even as it has evolved over the centuries, meaning that today, the city's original Gothic constructions still form an integral part of Bruges' identity.

Whilst you're in this splendid city yourself, we recommend visiting one of the many museums, or simply soaking up the stunning beauty and culture of Bruges on a stroll or from the comfort of a streetside cafe.

Day 7: Tour around Bruges to the North Sea (23 miles/38 km or 31 miles/51 km) The last bike tour of your trip takes you along a quiet canal dotted with poplars and into an attractive polder landscape typical of Belgium. You'll pedal past a number of quaint farmhouses as you travel towards the North Sea coast, where a long sandy beach and numerous cafes provide an inviting spot for your lunch break. Refreshed and revitalized by this awesome landscape, you'll ride back to Bruges.

Day 8: Bruges Disembarkation is by 9:30 am, following breakfast.

Day 1: Arrival and embarkation in Bruges (6 miles/11 km) Arrival and embarkation takes place between 1:00-2:00 pm in the beautiful city of Bruges, the 'Pearl of the Flanders'. The crew will welcome you aboard, and you'll have the opportunity to take a short bike ride in the afternoon. After dinner, your guide will lead you on a short walk around the magnificent historical center of Bruges.

Day 2: Bruges – Ghent (36 miles/57 km) Your first bike tour will begin early this morning, with a ride to Ghent through the iconic landscape of West Flanders. Today's destination is the historic center of Ghent, a lively university city with a rich history. Ghent is at the junction of the Leie and Schelde Rivers, a position that has granted it the status of being a major trading port since the Roman era. Day 3: Ghent – Dendermonde (24 miles/40 km) After breakfast in Ghent, you'll cycle through a diverse landscape as you follow the tidal Schelde River towards Dendermonde, located at the junction of the Dender and Schelde Rivers. Dendermonde boasts a beautiful town hall located in a cozy, atmospheric square - this is the perfect location for a refreshing Belgian pint after your bicycle ride! The St. Alexius Beguinage is also worth a visit - here you can learn about historical housekeeping, work, and recreational traditions in Dendermonde.

Day 4: Dendermonde – Antwerp (21 miles/48 km or 39 miles/63 km) Today you'll follow the Schelde further downstream through the Temse region towards Antwerp. This part of the route follows a beautiful, twisting section of the Schelde which, over the centuries, has held strategic importance for the Romans, Vikings, Spanish, and even Napoleon.

Antwerp - your destination for the day - is a harbor city situated on the Schelde and famous for handling up to 80% of the world's rough diamonds. Day 5: Cruise Antwerp – Kreekrak locks | Cycling Kreekrak locks – Tholen | Cruise Tholen – Dordrecht (23 miles/36 km or 13 miles/20 km) This morning, the ship will sail along the Schelde-Rhine Canal and over the huge Kreekrak lock system. Here, your bicycle tour begins with a ride through the beautiful 'Wouwse Plantage' forest to Tholen. Tholen used to be an island in the middle of the large Zeeland streams where many people fished for a living. Nowadays, it's connected to the mainland in a number of ways, but Tholen is still a picturesque village with many relics of its eventful past.

From Tholen, you'll join the ship again for a relaxing afternoon sail into Dordrecht, one of the oldest towns in Holland. Halfway through the route, the ship will pass the impressive Volkerak lock system. Your tour leader will take you for an interesting walk this evening, providing intriguing insight into the history of the Netherlands.

Day 6: Cruise Dordrecht – Alblasserdam | Cycle Alblasserdam – Kinderdijk – Schoonhoven – Vianen (36 miles/57 km) A fast ferry will bring you into Alblasserdam today. From here, you'll cycle to Kinderdijk, a village famous for its impressive row of 19 UNESCO World Heritage Site-listed windmills. You'll visit one of these iconic Dutch landmarks, constructed in the 18th century to pump water out of the low Alblasserwaard polder.

Cycle onwards to Vianen via Schoonhoven, nicknamed 'Zilverstad' ('Silver City') since the 17th century owing to its reputation for talented silversmiths. Vianen, sitting on the River Lek, is a beautiful medieval city with remnants of the old defensive walls and a historic town center.

Day 7: Cruise Vianen – Breukelen | Cycle Breukelen – Amsterdam (24 miles/38 km or 29 miles/48 km) The ship will cruise to Breukelen this morning, where you'll disembark and begin the last day of your cycling tour. Ride along the little River Vecht in an area well known for its beautiful mansions, small castles, and grand houses boasting large gardens. You'll cycle through the small villages of Nieuwersluis, Loenen, and Vreeland to Nigtevecht, where you'll visit a traditional cheese farm. Next, cycle onwards to the historical town of Muiden and finally to iconic Amsterdam, where you'll meet the barge for the final time in Amsterdam's harbor.

Day 8: Amsterdam Disembarkation by 9:30 am, following breakfast.

Great organization, fantastic biking.

The biking staff we very helpful and knowledgeable. King and welcoming, understanding of all levels and the territory. The daily rides by digital “ride with gps” was pretty much flawless, and the app staff very fast and helpful when a problem arose. The boat staff very warm and helpful. The cleaning staff timely and great for cabin cleaning. The chef; warm, funny and talented. Food delicious.

Trip postponed

We were unable to do this fantastic trip due to an injury. We are how every very excited about doing it next year. It sounds like a fantastic experience!

Great country to visit but maybe not with BikeBoatTours

We certainly enjoyed the country and the flat bike trails (lol!) but the company that provided our tour was mediocre at best. They had no concern for safety - did not require helmets, nor did the guides wear them. The bikes had no water bottle holder and the lights on the bikes did not work. Also, after strongly encouraging us to download Ride with GPS, they sent us the daily route but then: did NOT have holders on the bikes to put our phone on and it's illegal there to ride with a phone in your hand! Also, they did not follow the routes as stated in the Ride with GPS so the app was constantly beeping that we were off track and was, essentially useless. The guides seemed to be suffering from burnout. They were nice but did not offer any information unless asked and were extremely disorganized throughout the trip. The food on the boat was adequate but repetitive - same breakfast every day and we had to make our own lunch from the same food every day....unless it ran out and then we were stuck with prosciutto and bread that day. The boat itself was nice and the cabins were nice. Cleaning was not done during the trip unless asked.

Fantastic trip! It was on my bucket list and so happy that I can check off.. Will try other tours.

I organized a trip for 24 of us from Michigan on the Amsterdam - Bruges May 4- 11, 2019. The trip was fantastic. We had a few rough days of weather yet were positive and biked anyways. Nice accommodations, staff was very friendly and accommodating to dietary needs ( one vegetarian and the lactose free). Bar prices were reasonably. The tour guides were informative and nice that they did a few evening tours. You could bike on your own and I did this several days. The maps were clear. The extra side trips were nice, strawberry fields, bike museum, sandstone shop etc... There was flexibility for those that didn't want to ride on the rainy, cold morning. I will be doing another tour in the future.

Are there any guided canal tours by boat like in venice? Trying to decide on a canal tour or walking tour.

Canal boats have an audio guide you can listen to and they are quite enjoyable.

Hi Breda, that boat tour looks great, but their boat does not have a bathroom. Are there any other guided boat tours to choose from?

There are a lot really. You'll see once you get here. No need to prebook anything.

Any regular boat canal tour you pick——small boat——big boat—-closed or open boat—-live commentary—-pre recorded commentary—-you will think the one you picked was great.

They take 60-75 minutes or so depending on the company you choose.

I second the canal tour! Any one is fine like mentioned above. And I would for sure do a bike tour out into the countryside!

@chrisnyaol, a few months ago we were contemplating doing a tour with them and I emailed re the bathroom situation. They said that they are happy to stop if you need a bathroom at any time, and just let them know.

Stop the boat ? Ha !

And use what bathroom ? And maybe find a restaurant close by ? While the entire boat sits and waits...... And there are not a lot of public toilets alongside the canals. Then climb up the canal walls, maybe there’s a ladder...

We do not have a toilet on the boat, however, we are super flexible so you can just hop on and whenever you feel the urge to pee coming up just tell your captain and he/she/it/they/them (it is 2019, we do not know anymore) can stop for a little pee break. That would be no problem whatsoever. :) "

Magnifique I

All beautifully decorated cabins are on the lower deck and have en-suite bathrooms, air-conditioning, a mini-safe and a hair-dryer; the windows cannot be opened for security reasons. The Twin cabin is 11 m².

Junior Suite

Four junior suites have queen size beds (two single beds set together) and are approx. 15 m².

Lower Deck - Twin Cabins

There are 12 regular twin cabins (approx. 11 m²) with 2 single beds next to each other. All cabins have en-suite facilities (shower and toilet), individually regulated air conditioning, a flat screen satellite TV, a small safe and a hair dryer. The cabins on the lower deck have portholes that cannot be opened.

Lower Deck - Premium Twin Cabin

On the lower deck there is 1 premium twin cabin. This cabin (approx. 13m²) has 2 single beds next to each other and a small sitting area.

Upper Deck - Suite Cabins

The upper deck has 4 beautiful suites (approx. 14m). The suites have 2 single beds next to each other, a small sitting area and large panoramic windows. One of these windows can be opened.

Lower Deck Cabins

The lower deck has 16 cabins: 14 twin cabins (approx 11m²) with 2 single beds next to each other and 2 single cabins. All cabins and suites have en-suite facilities (shower and toilet), individually regulated air conditioning, a flat screen satellite TV, a small safe and a hair dryer. A supplement applies for the single cabins.

Above Deck Suite Cabins

The upper deck has 5 suites (approx. 14m²) with 2 single beds next to each other and a small sitting area. The suites have large windows that can be opened. A supplement applies for these cabins.

Magnifique IV

Lower Deck twin Cabin

The twin cabins below deck, measuring 12 m² (129 ft²) feature two single beds and fixed portholes. All cabins have their own private bathroom with shower, basin and toilet; as well as individually-regulated air-conditioning, flat screen satellite TV, mini safe and hair dryer.

Upper Deck Suites

The spacious suites, each measuring 16 m² (172 ft²), have double beds, a cozy sitting area, and French balcony with floor-to-ceiling glass doors.

On the lower deck the barge has 13 cabins: 10 twin with two single beds and two cabins with a double (French) bed and an additional 3rd bed as Pullman bed. All cabins have a small en-suite bathroom with toilet, shower and wash basin, a fixed window (both double cabins have larger windows that also open) and individual air conditioning.

Bike information

7 speed bike.

During the trip you will be provided with a unisex rental bike with hand brakes and lock. Bikes are: usually 7 speed. You will also receive a pannier to carry your gear required for each day.

** It is possible to bring your own bike/ebike on board the Magnifique boats - a surcharge applies. Please ask our staff (must be pre-booked and pre-paid).

Electric Bike

An electric bike is available on request. A supplement applies, see below. Electric bikes, or e-bikes, are designed to make cycling easier. The pedaling ‘boost’ provided by an e-bike opens up more options, allowing people of different fitness levels to cycle together or to allow less confident or fit cyclists to take on routes they may otherwise consider too tough for their current capabilities.

INTRODUCTORY - GRADE 1 The cycling is introductory (1) grade with daily cycling distances from 11 to 57km (6 to 36mi). As with all of our cycling programs, wind and poor weather could make the trip grade change. Should you not wish to cycle there are walking options available. The accent is on keeping a relaxed pace to take in all of the attractions, with time to stop and take photos, visit a museum or enjoy the market places in many of the interesting towns visited. It is considered suitable for children, as long as they have road sense, are familiar with the workings of a bike (gear change etc) and are comfortable cycling alongside moving vehicles at times. *For safety reasons, we highly recommend that cycle helmets be worn during cycle sections.
