Celebrity Cruises Check-in Procedure

Just like taking a flight, cruises involve checking in. How does the process work if you decide to take a Celebrity ship anywhere in the world? Read to find out.

To  check in with Celebrity Cruises , go to the appropriate section of their website to enter your reservation number, last name, ship, and sail date. From here, follow these steps:

1. Celebrity takes all users to a page to begin the check-in process. Passengers are advised to follow all prompts for personal and traveling information, to confirm the Celebrity Cruise Ticket Contract, and to set up an onboard expense account. Celebrity, once the process is over, generates an XPRESS Pass, which is essentially a boarding pass the traveler must take to the pier. 2. After these initial steps, the traveler, through the Celebrity website, has a chance to reserve any shore excursions, make specialty dining or spa reservations, and to order a beverage package. 3. If online check-in is not completed, the traveler will need to complete it at the terminal at least four hours prior to boarding.

As most travelers, these days, make reservations online, watch out for your electronic travel documents, which are emailed to the traveler three to four weeks before the ship departs.

At the Terminal

Travelers, as well, must read all cruise documents before boarding and be prepared with any passports, visas, and credit cards, typically processed at check-in.

If you have to fly into the departure port city, be aware of how much time you'll need. Generally, travelers are advised to take the shuttle from the airport to the terminal; if a package air/sea deal was made, the cruise line – not the traveler – picks up any luggage. However, for convenience and to avoid possible wait time at the terminal, arrive to the city a day early to spend the night at a hotel, and proceed to check-in at your pace the next day.

How do I check in online?

Begin by signing in to Guest Account at the top of this website. For mobile and tablet users, please click the menu on the top left and then click Sign In. The Online Check-In process for all guests in your reservation needs to be completed at least three days prior to your sail date.

Since government regulations require cruise lines to submit final departure manifests at least 60 minutes prior to sailing, this will save you time having to fill out forms at the pier. If you have not completed Online Check-in, you will be required to complete this process at the pier two hours prior to the published sailing time.

Please note:  Xpress Pass guests whose cruise departs from ports in the United States are required to be at the pier and checked-in no later than 60 minutes prior to the published sailing time or you may not be permitted to board. For a cruise that departs from other ports not in the United States, please verify on your Guest Ticket Booklet.

Once you have completed the Online Check-In process, you will receive an Xpress Pass. It indicates that you successfully completed the check-in process for yourself and those guests listed on your Xpress Pass.

Comfortable cruising

Just before COVID my husband & I booked three back to back cruises from Honolulu to Sydney, Melbourne and the Great Barrier Reef. It was the trip of a lifetime for us. Wonderful activities every day, lectures each day about the ports we were approaching and history of the South Pacific and we loved hearing about Captain Cook. Plenty of interaction with the passengers from Australia who were returning home from Hawaii after doing their holiday shopping. We learned so much by joining them at meals and hearing their recommendations for where we should visit and what we shouldn’t miss. Crossing the international dateline was a huge experience and the officers of the ship made the passengers a big dance party on one of the upper decks and fun was had by all. Except for kissing a dead fish, which a few of us did! We made some lovely connections which we still hear from via email. We’re booked again in March on Beyond with friends. Can’t stay away too long. Celebrity is our go-to cruise line for a perfect vacation!

Celebrity edge

I like the room with balcony and the bathroom is bigger than princess cruise. The room services staff was very nice. The dining room is set up nice and roomy and perfect view. The 14 floors buffer food is ok and not much change. Wish could have more variety food to select. Not much Asian food and few staffs seems tired and not much welcome or happy to serve food to guests. The main restaurant food is good, not much activities to celebrate in the dinning during holidays. I don’t feel the festive or holidays decorations in the dinning room. Not much going on for gift shops for the sale like princesses cruise for the fun of the shopping spirit. The lobbies areas are highlighted for the holidays, lots of music and entertaining and bars. Area for seating is plenty and the shows are great. The photo shop is much self service, the staff need little bits of cheering and enthusiastic of happy. I like the 15 floors for the exercise followed by the trails to walk or running. The gym room has good size and not humidity. I wish they could highlight some the activities program on the daily news paper and on TV or announce on over head speaker. I did not see much games or Chinese mah jong activities supplies in the social room or other areas for the guests to relax playing with there family. Over all I do enjoyed my trip and certainly with my families members gathering. But once comes with individual or solo, i was boring little bit.

I think this is one of the best ways to get all your information imputed, book shore excursions, book dining reservations and and purchase anything extra, and especially the how easy it's made the lifeboat drill!! I have been sailing with celebrity for 35 years and have sailed on 33 cruises exclusively with Celebrity and I remember since the Meridian and earlier ships how I dreaded the check in process and remember how time consuming it was which long lines with luggage in hand just to get to the area of the cruise port terminal to check in. I think the app is very easy to use and helpful and it has brought the cruising experience to the next level! I look forward to my 1st cruise day because I know we will me processed and on the ship within a half hour of getting to the cruise pier!! My wife and I have a cruise on the Equinox leaving Fort Lauderdale on September 17, 2022.  When I sign in to my account, it says that check in is "not yet available".  I always thought check-in began at 90 days out from sailing.  We are now less than two months from sailing, and I still cannot check-in on-line.  Am I missing something, is my on-line cruise screwed up for some reason, or have they changed check in to maybe 45 days out due to this Covid thing.  Help!  Should I be able to check-in for a September 17th Caribbean cruise?

45 days.  Cannot check-in until after final payment.

And that is dependant on where you live, we in UK have to wait until it’s 45 days before in USA. 😱

Ours opened on June 15th, even though it said June 14th on the App.

It actually opened at midnight. I filled it in at 06.30 and was fortunately able to choose the earliest arrival time 11.30, which I wanted as we are due out of our overnight hotel at 10.00.

If you go to the Celebrity App, and click the Profile tab, the one on the right of the three tabs at the top, this will give you the date your check in opens. Then you can be ready to complete your check in as soon as it is available.

Same here - check-in opened the day after the one advised on the app.

Easiest to check your app.  It is 45ish days away.  Ish meaning for my cruise it was 44 days before it opened.

The OP asked when was checkin.  Am sure your answer is perfect.  Mine simply gave what Celebrity says online.  Of course it can sometimes be more or less due to time zones, holidays, weekends and that things happen on a flexible schedule at Celebrity

I received the email after check-in opened.

This is very helpful!  I too was under the impression that it was 90 days prior, but the app indicates check-in for our sailing opens on 08/31/22, which is 45 days prior.  Thank you for this!

Never got one.  Someone on my roll call said, "Check in is open" but it wasn't for me for another hour.

Selecting your check in time for the embarkation terminal and providing covid and passport info.

You get first choice of boarding times.   The earliest usually fill up within a day or two.

We have an Aqua cabin and thought we had priority boarding. Might be wrong anyway are there any other benefits to checking in online?

Everything is now done by arrival time to get into terminal and then they do have "Priority Counters" for checkin  once inside the terminal.    It was a means of controlling the number of people in the terminal during Covid.    They have been enforcing but sometimes if there is a break they invite people from the next time slot lane to enter.

Is there a standard time online check in opens on the day it's scheduled to? I live in the US (California), but the cruise leaves out of Rome. Would online check in begin at midnight Rome time?

Many eclipse visitors to northern New England pulled an all-nighter trying to leave

FRANCONIA, N.H. (AP) — Thousands of visitors to northern New England communities in the path of the total solar eclipse were told to pack their patience for the trip. In some areas, they needed it for up to 12 hours after the event started, inching their way back home on packed interstates and secondary roads.

In New Hampshire, travelers were stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic in the northern part of the state through at least 2 a.m. Tuesday, clogging up southbound Interstate 93. Southbound traffic on Interstate 89 also was heavy Monday evening. Southbound traffic was backed up in parts of Maine for several hours.

New England had clear skies and mild weather Monday, making for ideal viewing conditions for totality. In New Hampshire, people flocked to places such as Lancaster, Stewartstown, Colebrook and Pittsburg, near the Canada border.

But the roads were swarmed on the trip back, and traffic came to a standstill in some areas.

“People were just pulling over on the side of the road going to the bathroom, people were pulling over to shut their cars off, sleeping in their cars all over (U.S.) Route 3,” said Scott Lacourse, who left his vacation home in Pittsburg with his wife and their two dogs at 6:30 p.m. They got home to Londonderry, New Hampshire, nine hours later. That’s nearly three times longer than usual.

“Every rest area, any pull-off, anything, was full,” Lacourse said, adding that there also was no cell service.

Some people who had paper maps with them navigated their way through back roads. Others were running out of gas, and some broke down. Some people opted for the dangerous maneuver of driving across a median ditch and turning back onto northbound lanes. At least one car got stuck in the ditch. Some people who tried to stop for fast food along the way were met by a long line and the realization that the staff had stopped taking orders.

Lacourse and his wife, Sirena Holobinko Bogdahn, thought that if they left later in the day traffic would be cleared, but that wasn’t the case.

In spite of that, “it was well worth it,” she said of the eclipse viewing. “It was so amazing.”

John Martin, who was visiting from Massachusetts, described it as a “creep and a crawl” near Franconia, where Route 3 feeds into the Franconia Notch Parkway, a one-lane mountain pass in each direction, before expanding into the multilane interstate.

“You’re looking at your GPS trying to get off of 93 to find something a little quicker, and everybody else was thinking the same thing,” he told WMUR-TV.

New Hampshire state officials had warned travelers that the return could be slow going and encouraged people to stay in the area, which usually sees its most tourists during the summer and the fall foliage season, for a while.

“To our friends visiting from out of state, remember: there’s no sales tax in NH, so feel free to stay a bit longer!” Gov. Chris Sununu had said Friday.

Traffic also slowed to a crawl in other states.

In Maine, the traffic on Route 4 south from Rangeley to Farmington was heavy and slow several hours after the eclipse but never completely stopped, averaging 8 to 15 mph for much of the 40-mile drive along the two-lane rural road that threads mountains and hills.

In Paducah, Kentucky, which was in the path of totality, along with communities to the west in Illinois, thousands of people crossed the Ohio River after watching the eclipse. Post-eclipse traffic also moved very slowly in places such as southbound Interstate 65 in southern Indiana, and along southbound Interstate 81 in New York and Pennsylvania.
