लक्ष्मण पहाड़ी

लक्ष्मण पहाड़ी चित्रकूट की एक धार्मिक स्थल है और यह पहाड़ी कामदगिरि पहाड़ी के पास ही में है। इस पहाड़ी में आपको श्री राम, लक्ष्मण और भरत जी का मंदिर देखने को मिल जाएगा। लक्ष्मण पहाड़ी तक पहुंचने के लिए आपको रोपवे की सुविधा मिल जाती है।

यह ऐतिहासिक शहर चित्रकूट के सबसे महत्वपूर्ण धार्मिक स्थलों में से एक है। कामदगिरि, चित्रकूट तीर्थ स्थल का सबसे प्रमुख तथा सबसे प्राचीन मंदिर है। ऐसी मान्यता है कि कामदगिरि पर्वत की परिक्रमा करने से लोगों की सभी मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होती हैं।

हनुमान धारा 

दोस्तों आपकी जानकारी के लिए हम आपको बता दे की हनुमान धारा के बारे में कहा जाता है की जब हनुमान जी ने लंका में आग लगाई थी। उसके बाद उनकी पूंछ में लगी आग को बुझाने के लिए वो इस जगह आये थे, जिन्हे भक्त हनुमान धारा के नाम से जाना जाता है।

हनुमान धारा एक पहाड़ी पर स्थित झरना है और चित्रकूट के सर्वश्रेष्ठ पर्यटन स्थलों में से एक है। यह साइट विभिन्न कारणों से पर्यटकों के बीच लोकप्रिय है।

वर्तमान में यह चित्रकूट स्थान उत्तर प्रदेश के बांदा जिले की कर्वी तहसील तथा मध्यप्रदेश के सतना जिले की सीमा पर स्थित है। चित्रकूट का मुख्य स्थल सीतापुर है, जो कर्वी से आठ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर है। जिसे देखने भारी संख्या में लोग यहाँ आते हैं।  

स्फटिक शिला 

दोस्तों चित्रकूट का दर्शनीय स्थल स्फटिक शिला चित्रकूट में जानकी कुंड से कुछ किलोमीटर की दूरी पर मंदाकनी नदी के तट पर स्थित है। साथ ही चित्रकूट के घने जंगल में स्थित इस स्थान पर एक शिला पर भगवान राम के पैरो के निशान पर्यटकों को देखने के लिए मिल जाते है।

कहा जाता है की माता सीता ने प्रभु श्री राम के साथ ज्यादातर समय इसी शीला पर व्यतीत किया था। इसके अलावा पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार यह वही जगह है, जहां देवी सीता को भगवान इंद्र के पुत्र जयंत ने काट लिया था। जब वह एक कौवे के रूप में उड़ रहा था।

चित्रकूट के भरत कूप के मंदिर में बने कुएं के जल में सभी पवित्र तीर्थों का जल मिला हुआ है। इसलिए यह जल सबसे पवित्र है और यह जल मीठा है और इस जल में बीमारियों से लड़ने की शक्तियां भी है।

इस कुएं के बारे में लोगों की मान्यता यह है, कि इस कुएं का जल बहुत ज्यादा पवित्र है और इस कुएं के जल से अगर आप स्नान करते है, तो आपके जो भी रोग रहते है, वह नष्ट हो जाते है साथ ही एक और मान्यता है की ऐसा कहा जाता है कि भगवान राम को अयोध्या के राजा के रूप में अभिषेक करने के लिए, उनके भाई भरत ने सभी पवित्र तीर्थों के जल को एकत्रित किया था।

वाल्मीकि आश्रम

भारतीय साहित्य और पवित्र ग्रन्थों में प्रख्यात वनवास काल में साढ़े ग्यारह वर्षों तक भगवान श्री राम, माता सीता और भगवान लक्ष्मण जी की निवास स्थली रहा है। चित्रकूट मानव हृदय को शुद्ध करने और प्रकृति के आकर्षण से पर्यटकों को आकर्षित करने में सक्षम है।

चित्रकूट धाम के धार्मिक और पौराणिक स्थल

चित्रकूट की यात्रा प्रारंभ होती है मंदाकिनी और पयस्वनी के संगम स्थल रामघाट से यहां श्रीराम ने अपने पिता दशरथ का पिण्ड तर्पण यिका था। स्नान करने के बाद चित्रकूट के महाराजा धिराज 1008 मतगजेन्द्र नाथ जी स्वामी के रूद्रभिषेक पर जल चढाकर यात्रा की शुरूआत की जाती है। मंदिर में चार रूद्रवतार भगवान शंकर की मूर्तियां प्रतिष्थपित हैं। आदिकाल की मूर्ति स्वंय सृष्टि रचयिता बृहमा जी द्वारा स्थापित की गई थी |

राघव प्रयाग

यह स्थान मन्दाकिनी गंगा के पश्चिम तट पर स्थित है। यहाँ पर मन्दकिनी पयश्रवणी एवं सरयू गंगा का संगम है। इन तीनों नदियों के उद्गम स्थान पृथक-पृथक है। मन्दकिनी अति मुनि के आश्रम से निकली है। पौराणिक गाथा के अनुसार श्री अति मुनि की पत्नी अनुसुइया जी ने अपने तपोवल से प्रकट किया है। पयश्रवणी गंगा का उद्गम ब्रह्यकुण्ड है, जो श्री कामद्गिरी के दक्षिण तट पर स्थित है।

कामद्गिरी के उत्तरी तट से श्री सरयू जी का उद्गम है। यही तीनों नदियाँ मिल करके प्रयाग के रूप में परिवर्तित हो जाती है। रघुकुलभूषण श्री रामजी ने अपने पूज्य पिता के लिए यहीं पर पिण्ड दान दिया था, इसलिए उक्त स्थान को राघव प्रयाग कहा जाता है।

चित्रकूट का सबसे महत्वपूर्ण स्थान श्री कामद्गिरी है। इसको भगवान का ही स्वरूप माना जाता है। इसमें प्रवेश के चार द्वार हैं। जिसमें श्रीकामद्गिरी का उत्तरी द्वार मुख्यद्वार के नाम से जाना जाता है। श्री रामघाट से स्नान करके अधिकतर लोग श्री कामद्गिरी के मुख्य दरवाजे पर आते तथा यहीं से प्रदक्षिणा आरम्भा करते हैं। इस स्थान में वैष्णव सन्तों के आश्रम बने हुये हैं, जिनमें संतों दीन, हीन, अपग्ग अपाहिज व्यत्तियों की सेवा होती है। वर्तमान काल में श्री श्री 108 श्री प्रेम पुजारी दास नाम के सन्त इन आश्रमों के संचालक हैं, जिनकी अथक परीश्रम एवं व्यक्तित्व से यहाँ अनेकों परमार्थ कार्य चल रहे हैं। इस पवित्र पर्वत का काफी धार्मिक महत्व है।

श्रद्धालु कामदगिरि पर्वत की 5 किलोमीटर की परिक्रमा कर अपनी मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होने की कामना करते हैं। जंगलों से घिरे इस पर्वत के तल पर अनेक मंदिर बने हुए हैं। चित्रकूट के लोकप्रिय कामतानाथ और भरत मिलाप मंदिर भी यहीं स्थित है। मान्यता है की कामदगिरिदेव के दर्शन एवं परिक्रमा करने से सभी मनोरथ पूर्ण हो जाती हैं। इसीलिए इसका नाम ‘कामदगिरि’ है। इस गिरिराज का प्रभाव यों तो अनादिकाल से चला आ रहा है, पर भगवान राम के प्रवास करने से इसका महत्व और भी बढ़ गया है।दर्शन के लिए प्रतिमास की अमावस्या, चैत्र रामनवमी और दीपमालिका को भारत के कोने-कोने से अंसख्य यात्री चित्रकूट आते हैं और इसकी परिक्रमा कर स्वयं को धन्य मानते है। परिक्रमा के लिए पर्वत के चारों ओर पक्का मार्ग बना हुआ है, जो करीब 3 मील है। परिक्रमा के किनारे-किनारे सैकड़ों देवालय बने हुए हैं, जिनमें राममुहल्ला, मुखारविन्द, साखी गोपाल, भरत-मिलाप ”चरण-पादुका” तथा ‘पीली कोठी’ अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है। पर्वत के दक्षिण पाश्र्व में एक छोटी-सी पहाड़ी है, जिसे ‘लक्ष्मण पहडि़या’ कहते हैं। इसके शिखर पर श्री लक्ष्मण जी का मन्दिर बना हुआ है। जन-श्रुति के अनुसार राम के वनवास-काल में लक्ष्मण जी का यही निवास स्थान था।

श्री कामद्गिरी के दक्षिण में लक्ष्मण पहाड़ी नाम की छोटी पहाड़ी है, जिसमें श्री लक्ष्मण जी का मन्दिर है। कहा जाता हे कि भगवान राम और अम्बा जानकी रात्रि में अब शयन स्थान से कुछ दूर, हाथ में धनुष वाण ले करके उनकी रक्षा में जागरण किया करते थे यहाँ पर एक कूप है, जो धरातल के स्तर से काफी ऊँचाई में स्थित है, किन्तु इसमें हमेशा जल माजूद रहता हैं। मन्दिर से सम्बन्धित एक दलान है, जिसमें कुछ स्तम्भ हैं, जिन्हें लोग सप्रेम भेंट करते हैं। और श्री लक्ष्मण जी से भेंट का आनन्द करते हैं |

भरत मिलाप, चरण-पादुका

यह स्थान कामदगिरि के परिक्रमा पथ पर है। कैकेयी के द्वारा श्रीराम को वनवास दे दिये जाने पर जब श्री भरत अपने ननिहाल से अयोध्या पहुंचे, तथा उन्हें श्रीराम के वनवास की खबर मिली, तब वह अपने छोटे भाई शत्रुधन सहित, गुरू वशिष्ठ एवं तीनों माताओं, मंत्रियों तथा राज्य के असंख्य नर-नारियों को लेकर भगवान राम को मनाने चित्रकूट आये, यह वही स्थान है, जहाँ भरत राम का मिलन हुआ था। वह मिलन,जिसमें पर्वतराज की कठिन शिलायें भी पिघल कर पानी-पानी हो गयी थी, जिसके कारण पाषाण शिला में उनके चरण चिन्ह अंकित हो गये हैं। पिघली हुई उन शिलाओं का चिहनावशेष आज भी उस अपूर्व मिलन की याद को ताजा कर देता है।

चित्रकूट पर्वत से डेढ़ किलोमीटर पूर्व पयस्विनी (मंदाकिनी) नदी तट निर्मित रामधाट भक्तों एवं श्रद्धालुओं के लिए बड़ा ही पवित्र स्थान माना जाता है। इसी घाट पर गोस्वामी तुलसीदास जी की प्रतिमा भी है ,पूज्य पाद गोस्वामी जी को श्रीराम के दर्शन श्री हनुमान जी की प्रेरणा से इसी घाट में हुये थे। तोतामुखी श्री हनुमान जी द्वारा उपदेश किये जाने से यहाँ पर एक तोतामुखी हनुमान जी की प्रतिमा आज भी पायी जाती है।

इस घाट के पश्चिम की ओर यज्ञवेदी एवं पर्ण कुटी नामक स्थान आज भी स्थित है। जो कि भगवान राम के निवास की स्मृति को आज भी ताजी बना रहे हैं। यहाँ पर बैठ कर इधर-उधर दृष्टि डालने से वाराणसी में गंगा के घाटों का स्मरण होता है। रामघाट के ऊपर अनेक मन्दिर व मठ है, जिनमें श्री मत्तगयेन्द्र (मदगंजन स्वामी) शंकरजी का मन्दिर अधिक महत्वपूर्ण माना जाता है। मन्दिरों के इस समुदाय को ‘पुरी’कहते है। इसके चतुर्दिक परिक्रमा बनी हुई है। लोग श्रद्धा के साथ पुरी की भी परिक्रमा करते है।राम घाट वह घाट है जहाँ प्रभु राम नित्य स्नान किया करते थे घाट में गेरूआ वस्त्र धारण किए साधु-सन्तों को भजन और कीर्तन करते देख बहुत अच्छा महसूस होता है। शाम को होने वाली यहां की आरती मन को काफी सुकून पहुंचाती है।

रामधाट से एक किलोमीटर दक्षिण चित्रकूट-सतना रोड पर पयस्विनी तट यह स्थान स्थित है। इसमें रीवां नरेश का बनवाया हुआ श्री नारायण भगवान का मन्दिर है। इसके चारों ओर लगभग 300 कोठरियाँ बनी हुई है, जिनके सम्बन्ध में कहा जाता है कि रीवां नरेश ने किसी दैवी बाधा की शान्ति के लिए इनका निर्माण करा कर उतने ही पण्डितों द्वारा किसी विशेष अनुष्ठान का आयोजन किया था।

दास हनुमान नामक स्थान -प्रमोद वन के ठीक सामने पश्चिम में है, जो एक सिद्व जगह मानी जाती है।

जानकी कुण्ड

प्रमोद वन से एक फलाँग दक्षिण स्थित रामघाट से 2 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर मंदाकिनी नदी के किनार जानकी कुण्ड स्थित है। जनक पुत्री होने के कारण सीता को जानकी कहा जाता था। माना जाता है कि जानकी यहां स्नान करती थीं। जानकी कुण्ड के समीप ही राम जानकी रघुवीर मंदिर और संकट मोचन मंदिर है। जानकी कुण्ड आज कल चित्रकूट का सर्वाधिक रम्य आश्रम समझा जाता है, यहाँ विरक्त महात्माओं की सैकडों गुफायें तथा कुटीरें है, जहाँ तीन-चार सौ महात्मा सदैव तपश्चर्या करते रहते है। इस आश्रम का प्राकृतिक दृश्य बहुत सुहावना है। नीचे हुई बह रही है। मंदाकिनी के दोनों किनारो पर सघन वृक्षों की सुन्दर कतारें हैं, जो दर्शक का मन हठात् मोह लेती है। मंदाकिनी के जल में यहाँ अंसख्य दीर्घकाल मछलियाँ तैरती रहती है, जो कुछ क्षणों के लिए पर्यटकों के मनोरंजन का साधन बन जाती है।

आश्रम में स्वo संत श्री रणछोरदास जी महाराज द्वारा स्थापित एक संस्कृत पाठशाला तथा रघुवीर जी का भव्य मन्दिर है। यहाँ एक धर्मशाला तथा कई सुन्दर भजनाश्रम बने हुए है। स्वामी पंजाबी भगवान् द्वारा निर्मित श्री हनुमान जी का मन्दिर भी विशेष दर्शनीय है।

रघुवीर मन्दिर

यह स्थान मन्दाकिनी गंगा के पश्चिम तट पर जानकी कुण्ड में स्थित है| इसका निर्माण बीत राग महान तपस्वी परमार्थ भूषण संत शिरोमणि श्री रणछोड़वास महाराज से विशेष आग्रह करके, उनके प्रियशिष्य श्री भीम जी भाई मानसाटा कलकत्ता वालों ने विक्रम संवत् 2009 में कराया। यहा पर भगवान श्री राम अम्बा जानकी जी की मूर्ति विराजमान हैं। इस मनिदर के समीप उत्तर की ओर परम पूज्य श्री रड़छोड़दास जी का मन्दिर है, जिसमें उनकी मूर्ति विराजमान है।

पूज्य महाराज श्री की तपस्या का प्रभाव दिगदिगन्त में व्याप्त था। इनका सबसे बड़ा उद्देश्य परोपकार था। दीन-हीन व्यक्तियों की सेवा करने में इन्हें परमानन्द की प्राप्ति होती थी। वे अपने शिष्यों को यही उपदेश देने थे, कि दूसरों की सेवा करो। सेवा ही भजन हैं, धन की सर्वश्रेष्ठ गति परोपकार है। अतः श्री महाराज जी ने सन्तों की सेवा के लिए सदाव्रत एवं भारतीय संस्कृति के रक्षा के लिए संस्कृत विद्यालय की स्थापना की थी। यह सेवा अनावरत चलती रहे इसलिए श्री रघुवीर मन्दिर ट्रस्ट की स्थापना श्री महाराज जी ने 1968 में की थी, जो आज भी विद्यमान है।

स्फटिक शिला

यह स्थान जानकी कुण्ड से लगभग डेढ़ किलोमीटर दक्षिण में मन्दाकिनी के तट पर है। राम चरित मानस के अनुसार श्रीराम जी ने इसी शिला पर माँ जानकी का श्रृंगार किया था। देदाडना तीर्थ में श्रीराम जी तथा लखन सहित मा जानकी के दर्शन कर देवकन्या स्वर्ग लोक गई। स्वर्ग लोक जाकर अपने पति जयन्त से श्रीराम सीता जी के दर्शन के लिए कहा, तो जयन्त ने कहा कि स्वर्ग लोक का वासी मृत्यु लोक में दर्शन नहीं करेगा। फिर भी जब देवकन्या नहीं मानी, तब जयन्त आकर कौवे का रूप धारण किया तथा सीता जी के चरण में चोच मार के भागा। उसी क्षण जयन्त की दुष्टता पर श्रीराम ने ब्रह्य कण का प्रयोग किया था, अन्त में जयन्त दुष्टता पर क्षमा माँगी।

इस शिला पर सीता के पैरों के निशान मुद्रित हैं। इस शिला पर राम और सीता बैठकर चित्रकूट की सुन्दरता निहारते थे। यहाँ का प्राकृतिक दृश्य अतीव आकर्षक है, इसके पश्चिम लक्ष्मण शिला तथा श्रीराम जी का मन्दिर स्थित है।

अनुसूया आश्रम

जानकी कुण्ड से लगभग 15 किलोमीटर स्फटिक शिला से लगभग 4 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर घने वनों से घिरा महासती अनुसूया तथा महर्षि अत्रि जी की तपश्चर्या का पवित्र स्थल ‘अनुसूया-आश्रम’है। महर्षि अति की परम सती तपस्विनी पति परायण पत्नी श्रीमति अनुसुइया देवी के सतीत्व के प्रताप से यहीं से मन्दाकिनी गंगा का उद्गम हुआ है। सती अनुसुइया ने अपनी सतीत्व की परीक्षा में आये हुये ब्रह्य, विष्णु और शंकर को बालक के रूप में परिवर्तित कर दिया था। जिससे उनकी सतीत्व की प्रशंसा त्रैलोक्य ने की थी। और सब उनके चरणों में सिर झुकाये थे।

इस आश्रम की पुनीत शरण में अनेक महात्माओं ने परम सिद्वि प्राप्त की है। यहाँ अत्रि अनुसूया तथा उनके पुत्र भगवान दत्रात्रय,दुर्वासा और चन्द्रमा की मूर्तियाँ स्थापित है। प्राकृतिक, धार्मिक तथा सांस्कृतिक-तीनों दृष्टियों से यह स्थान महत्वपूर्ण है। यह वही स्थान है, जहाँ महासती अनुसूया ने महारानी सीता को ‘पतिव्रत धर्म’ का दिव्य उपदेश देकर नारी-जाति का स्वर्ग प्रशस्त किया था।

चित्रकूट-सतना रोड से फूट कर एक पक्का उपमार्ग यहाँ तक जाता है। इसे मध्य प्रदेश शासन द्वारा बनाया गया है। यहाँ एक सिद्व बाबा का बड़ा सुन्दर आश्रम बना है। नीचे अनुसूयाजी की तपस्या में लाई गयी मन्दाकिनी नदी है। पर विचारणीय बात यह है कि इतने सुन्दर तथा रमणीक आश्रम में पर्यटकों के आवासादि के लिए न तो कोई धर्मशाला है, न सरकारी विश्राम-गृह ही। देश के धर्मशील सम्पन्न परिवारों तथा शासन को इस ओर ध्यान देना चाहिए।

गुप्त गोदावरी

यह तीर्थस्थल अनुसूया आश्रम से लगभग 6 किलोमीटर पश्चिम में है। एक लम्बी गुफा से निरन्तर जल स्त्राव होता रहता है। भीतर अँधेरा होने से यात्री दीपक (गैस) के प्रकाश में अन्दर प्रवेश करते है। इसके भीतर एक कुण्ड है, जिसे सीता कुण्ड कहते है जो दरवाजे से 15-16 गज की दूरी पर है। गुफा से पानी की धारा कुण्डों पर गिरती है और वही लृप्त हो जाती है, इसी से इसे गुप्त गोदावरी कहते है। यहाँ का प्राकृतिक कला-कौशल अद्भुत है। जलवाही गुफा के बगल में एक दूसरी विशाल गुफा है, जिसका ऊपरी भाग काफी ऊँचा है। छत पर एक ऐसा पत्थर लटका हुआ है जो हिलता रहता है। इसे लोग ‘खटखटा चोर’ कहते है, जिसके पीछे अनेक किंवदन्तियाँ जुड़ी हुई है। कहा जाता है कि इस गुफा के अंत में राम और लक्ष्मण ने दरबार लगाया था।

मड़फा आश्रम

गुप्त गोदावरी से 3-4 किलोमीटर दूर माण्डय ऋषि का परम प्राचीन आश्रम‘मड़फा’ नाम से प्रसिद्व है। एक छोटी पहाड़ी पर ध्वंसावशेष मात्र एक अति प्राचीन किला है, जो कालिंजर दुर्ग का ही एक अंग बताया जाता है। यहाँ का पर्वतीय प्राकृतिक दृश्य बहुत ही चित्ताकर्षक है। भगवान श्री बाला जी का भव्य मन्दिर यहाँ बना है, पास में ही पंचमुखी शंकर जी की विशाल प्रतिमा भी स्थापित है। पहाड़ी से कई झरने झरते है तथा नीचे ‘पाप-मोचन’ नामक एक प्रसिद्व सरोवर है। यह आश्रम दुर्गम वनांचल में अवस्थित है, इसलिए यहाँ सुरक्षा की दृष्टि से यात्रियों को बड़ी सावधानी से जाना चहिए।

यह श्री कामदगिरि से आठ किलोमीटर पश्चिम तथा झाँसी-मानिकपुर रेलवे लाइन पर ऐतिहासिक कूप है, जिसमें भरत जी ने श्री रामचन्द्र जी के अभिषेकार्थ लाए हुए समस्त तीर्थों के जल को डाला था। इसलिए इसके जल में स्नान का बड़ा महत्व माना जाता है। कूप के पास ही भरत जी का मन्दिर है। भरत जी की स्मृति में एक संस्कृत पाठशाला भी चलाई जा रही है। यहां हरेक मकर संक्राती को विशाल मेला लगता है।

चित्रकूट से 3 किलोमीटर दूर कर्वी के देवांगना रोड पर स्थित गणेश बाग यहां के सबसे पसंदीदा बागों में से एक है। इस बाग का निर्माण 1800 ईसवीं से पहले पेशवा राजा, विनायक राव द्वारा हुआ था। इसका विशाल तालाब और लम्बी, गहरी बावड़ी विशेष रूप से गर्मियों में इस्तेमाल की जाती होगी, ऐसा प्रतीत होता है।यहां का खुबसूरत और विशेष तरह की नकाशी से बना शिव मंदिर इस बाग का मुख्य आकर्षण है। जिसे स्थानीय लोग ‘गणेश मंदिर’ के रूप में जानते हैं। मंदिर के अलावा यहां सात मंजिला बनी बावड़ी भी देखने को मिलती है। यह पानी एकत्र करने का बेहतरीन तरीका और कला का एक शानदार नमूना है। यही नहीं, इसी के आस-पास पेशवाओं के आवास भी बने हैं जो लगभग खंडर हो चुकें हैं लेकिन उनकी बनावट आज भी आकर्षित करती है।

पेशवा के काल में स्थापत्य कला अपनी चरम सीमा तक पहुँच चुकी थी। इसमें खजुराहो शैली पर आधरित काम कला का विस्तृत चित्राकंन है। यह तत्कालीन पेशवा नरेशों की मानसिकता की देन है, संभवतः पेशवा नरेशों ने अपने आमोद-प्रमोद के लिए निर्माण कराया हो। पंच मंजिलें के समूह को पंचायतन कहते है। इस पंच मंजिले मन्दिर के शिखर पर काम कला के बहुत से भितिं चित्र खोदे गये है। कुछ स्वतन्त्र मैथुन मुद्रा में हैं, तथा कुछ पुराणों एवं रामायण पर आधारित हैं। यहाँ काम, योग तथा भक्ति का अद्भुत सामन्नजस्य देखने को मिलता है।

मन्दिर के ठीक सामने एक सरोबर है, जिसके ऊपर मन्दिर की ओर स्नान के लिए एक हौज है, जिसमें दो छिद्रों से पानी आता है, मन्दिर में फानूस में लगे हुए लोहे के हुक आज भी कला-कृति एवं साज-सजावट की दस्तान बताते हैं। जिसके चार खण्ड भूमि-गत हैं। ग्रीष्म ऋतु में जलस्तर कम होने पर तीन खंडों के लिए रास्ता जाता है। इसका निर्माण उन्नीसवीं शताब्दी के आरम्भ में श्रीमन्त विनायकराव पेशवा ने कराया था। यहाँ की इमारतों का निर्माण भारतीय स्थापत्य कला का उत्कृष्ट उदाहरण है। ऊपरी भाग में भित्ति-प्रस्तरों की बारीक कटाई करके कर्वी पेशवाकालीन राजमहल (वर्तमान कोतवाली) से गणेश बाग तक गुप्त रास्ता है, जो पेशवाओं के पारिवारिक सदस्यों के आने-जाने के लिए प्रयुक्त किया जाता था। यदि इसे छोटा खजुराहो कहा जाय तो अतियोक्ति न होगी। गणेश बाग घूमते हुए, इसके पास के रामघाट और जानकी कुंड भी देखे जा सकते हैं।

बाँके सिद्ध

गणेश बाग से 3 किलोमीटर दक्षिण-पूर्व हरे-भरे विन्ध्य पर्वत के पाश्र्व भाग में स्थित बाँके सिद्ध अपने प्राकृतिक सौन्दर्य के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। सचमुच यह देव निर्मित एक सुन्दर कन्दरा है। इसके निर्माण में भगवती प्रकृति देवी ने अपूर्व चातुर्य दिखाया है। एक विशाल चट्टान के नीचे विस्तृत कक्ष बना हुआ है, जो धरातल से सैकड़ों फीट नीचा है। गुफा तक पहुँचने के लिए नीचे से पक्की सीढि़याँ बनी हुई है। ऊपर से निर्मल जल वाला झरना गिर रहा है, जिसका दृश्य बड़ा ही मनोहर है। यह गुफा के उत्तरी भाग को नहलाता हुआ पर्वत के ही वक्ष में विलीन हो जाता है।

बाँके सिद्व से डेढ़ किलोमीटर दक्षिण इसी पर्वत पर ‘कोटितीर्थ’ नामक रम्य स्थान है। इसका प्राकृतिक दृश्य भी सिद्व की भांति ही है। यहाँ भी एक झरना बह रहा है,जो पर्वत में ही अन्तर्लीन हो जाता है। कहा जाता है कि जब भगवान राम चित्रकूट पधारे थे, तब उनके दर्शनार्थ देवलोक से आए हुए करोड़ों देवता इसी स्थान पर रुके थे। इसीलिए इसे ‘कोतितीर्थ’ कहते है। मान्यता यह भी है कि, यहाँ पर एक कोटि मुनीश्वर श्रीराम जी के दर्शनार्थ तप करते थे, उनके ऊपर प्रसन्न होकर श्रीराम जी ने सबको एक साथ दर्शन दिये। यहाँ पर एक शिवजी का मन्दिर है। इस स्थल को सिद्धश्रम कहते हैं। अग्नि, वरूण, सूर्य, चन्द्र, वायु आदि अनेक तीर्थी के होने से इसे कोटि तीर्थ कहते हैं।

यह स्थान कोटि तीर्थ से लगभग 1 कि0मी0 दक्षिण की कोटितीर्थ वाले पर्वत केक अच्चल में ही सुशोभित है। यहाँ का पर्वतीय दृश्य तथा जल प्रपात का उद्गम बाँके सिद्व एवे कोटितीर्थ के ही सामान है। प्रसिद्वि है कि राम के वनवास-काल में उनके दर्शनार्थ से आयी हुई विविध देवों की स्त्रियाँ इस स्थान पर रुकी थीं, इसलिए इसे देवड़गना कहते है। यहाँ देवकन्या ने अपार तप किया था। भगवान राम जी उसे दर्शेन दिये थे, इसके सम्बन्ध में कई तरह जनश्रुतियाँ प्रचलित हैं। यह देवकन्या जयन्त की पत्नी श्री, जयन्त का चरित्र स्फटिक शिला के परिचय में दिया गया है। देवकन्या की स्मृति में निर्मित यह स्थान आज भी अपना आलोक विखेर रहा है।

हनुमान धारा

यह स्थान देवड़गना वाली पर्वत श्रंखला पर ही (चित्रकूट) से तीन किलोमीटर पूर्व स्थित है। हनुमान धारा में हनुमान की एक विशाल मूर्ति है। मूर्ति के सामने तालाब में झरने से पानी गिरता है। पर्वत के भीतर से शुण्डाकार निर्मल जलधारा श्री हनुमान जी की बायीं भुजा पर पड़ती है। इसे देखने से शंकर भगवान के मस्तक पर गंगावरण के दृश्य की कल्पना होने लगती है।

मूर्ति के पास तक पहुँचने के लिए नीचे से 360 सीढि़याँ बनी हुई है। इसका जल शीतल और स्वच्छ है। 365 दिन यह जल आता रहता है। यह जल कहां से आता है यह किसी को जानकारी नहीं है। यदि किसी व्यक्ति को दमा की बिमारी है तो यह जल पीने से काफी लोगों को लाभ मिला है। इस के दर्शन से हर एक व्यक्ति तनाव से मुक्त हो जाता है तथा मनोकामना भी पूर्ण हो जाती है।

इस स्थान पर हनुमान धारा मंदिर और भगवान श्री राम का भी एक छोटा सा मंदिर स्थित है। हनुमान जी के दर्शनों से पूर्व यहां प्रवाहित कुंड में लोग हाथ मुंह धोते हैं। कुछ वर्ष पूर्व हनुमान धारा मंदिर स्थान पर पंचमुखी हनुमान का स्वरूप स्वयं प्रगट हुआ था। यहां सीढ़ियों का अजब गजब रूप देखने को मिलता है। जिनके दर्शन के लिए यों तो यात्री प्रतिदिन पहुँचते रहते है, पर भाद्रपद शुक्ल पक्ष के अन्तिम मंगलवार (बुढ़वा मंगल) को यहाँ प्रतिवर्ष बड़ा भारी, मेला ,लगता है। यात्रियों के विश्राम के लिए यहाँ एक छोटी-सी धर्मशाला भी है।

कहा जाता है कि लंका को जलाते समय अग्नि की लपटों से सन्तप्त श्री मारूति नन्दन समुद्र में कूद पड़े थे, फिर भी उनका दाह दूर नहीं हुआ। अस्तु रामराज्य होने के बाद भगवान राघवेन्द्र की सेवा में रहकर श्री हनुमंत लाल जी ने अपनी जलन की वेदना को शान्त करने के लिए भगवान श्रीराम से प्रार्थना की और भगवान राम ने उन्हें चित्रकूट में स्थित विन्ध्य गिरी पर निवास करने के लिए कहा, जहाँ पर पर्वत से निकली हुई जलधारा अनावरत आज भी श्री हनुमंत लाल जी के पावन देह की प्लावित करती है। अतः यह स्थान हनुमान धारा के नाम से प्रसिद्ध है। आज भी हनुमान जी यहीं वास करते है।

इसी पर्वत श्रेणी में हनुमान-धारा के ऊपर ‘सीता रसोई’ तथा ‘नरसिंह-धारा’ नामक स्थान भी दर्शनीय है।

यह स्थान विन्ध्य पर्वत पर हनुमान धारा के ऊपर स्थित है। पर देवी सीता की रसोई है। इसका पुराना नाम जमदग्नि तीर्थ है। भगवान राम एवं लखनलाल जी के लिए माँ जानकी जी ने इस स्थान पर फलाहार तैयार किया था, ऐसी किंवदन्ती है, माता सीता ने जिन चीजों से यहां रसोई बनाई थी उसके चिन्ह आज भी यहां देखे जा सकते हैं।

महर्षि वाल्मीकि आश्रम

करवी से 16 किलोमीटर पूर्व चित्रकूट-इलाहाबाद राजमार्ग पर आदि-कवि महर्षि वाल्मीकि जा का पावन आश्रम एक हरी-भरी पहाड़ी के शिखर पर स्थित है। पहाड़ी के नीचे वाल्मीकि नदी (ओहन नदी) बहती है। पहाड़ी के शिखर पर एक मन्दिर है,जिसमें महर्षि वाल्मीकि की प्रतिमा स्थापित है। कहा जाता है कि श्री वाल्मीकि जी ने संस्कृत भाषा का आदि काव्य रामायण की रचना यहीं पर की थी, इसके दक्षिण-पूर्व में पाश्र्व मार्ग में एक गुफा में अपेक प्रकार की प्राचीन मूतियाँ स्थापित है।

पहाड़ी के शिखर के नीचे तल भाग से कुछ ऊपर प्रसिद्व असावर देवी (आशा मणि देवी) का मन्दिर है, जिनके दर्शनार्थ प्रति सोमवार को मेला लगता है।

चैत्र राम नवमी को यहाँ बहुत बड़ा मेला लगता है, जो 4-5 दिन तक चलता है। वाल्मीकि-आश्रम वही स्थान है, जहाँ महर्षि वाल्मीकि ने वनवासी भगवान राम कोचित्रकूट में वास करने का परामर्श दिया था – जैसे श्री तुलसीदास जी मानस में कहा है-

चित्रकूट गिरी करहु निवासू।जहँ तुम्हार सब भाँति सुपासू।।

स्थान अत्यन्त रमणीक है। यहाँ एक संस्कृत पाठशाला भी स्थापित है।

यह स्थान मन्दाकिनी गंगा के पश्चिम तट पर जानकी कुण्ड में स्थित है। इसका निर्माण बीत राग महान तपस्वी परमार्थ भूषण संत शिरोमणि श्री रणछोड़वास महाराज से विशेष आग्रह करके, उनके प्रियशिष्य श्री भीम जी भाई मानसाटा कलकत्ता वालों ने विक्रम संवत् 2009 में कराया। यहा पर भगवान श्री राम अम्बा जानकी जी की मूर्ति विराजमान हैं। इस मनिदर के समीप उत्तर की ओर परम पूज्य श्री रड़छोड़दास जी का मन्दिर है, जिसमें उनकी मूर्ति विराजमान है। पूज्य महाराज श्री की तपस्या का प्रभाव दिगदिगन्त में व्याप्त था। इनका सबसे बड़ा उद्देश्य परोपकार था। दीन-हीन व्यक्तियों की सेवा करने में इन्हें परमानन्द की प्राप्ति होती थी। वे अपने शिष्यों को यही उपदेश देने थे, कि दूसरों की सेवा करो। सेवा ही भजन हैं, धन की सर्वश्रेष्ठ गति परोपकार है।

अतः श्री महाराज जी ने सन्तों की सेवा के लिए सदाव्रत एवं भारतीय संस्कृति के रक्षा के लिए संस्कृत विद्यालय की स्थापना की थी। यह सेवा अनावरत चलती रहे इसलिए श्री रघुवीर मन्दिर ट्रस्ट की स्थापना श्री महाराज जी ने 1968 में की थी, जो आज भी विद्यमान है।

चित्रकूट धाम भारत के प्राचीन तीर्थस्थलों में से एक है ।यह मन्दाकिनी नदी के किनारे बसा हुआ है ।इस स्थल पर श्री राम चंद्र जी ने लक्ष्मण जी और सीता जी सहित वनवास जीवन व्यतीत किया था। यहां भगवान् ने साढ़े ग्यारह वर्ष बिताए ।हिन्दू धर्म के लोगो की यह आस्था अपार है। चित्रकूट धाम की महिमा, चित्रकूट धाम की कथा व चित्रकूट धाम की गाथा व उसकी महिमा की पूर्ण जानकारी हिंदी भाषा में| 

Chitrakoot Yatra in Hindi – चित्रकूट धाम की महिमा

चित्र का मतलब है अशोक और कूट शब्द का अर्थ है शिखर और दोनों शब्द को जोड़कर चित्रकूट शब्द का निर्माण हुआ है ।इस स्थान पर अशोक के पेड ज़ादा पैमाने पर मिलते थे इसलिए इस जगह को चित्रकूट का नाम दिया गया।

कर्वी,कामता,सीतापुर,खोही,नया गांव, के आस पास की वन जगह चित्रकूट से प्रसिद्द है। यह भारत के उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य में 38 .2 वर्ग किलोमीटर में फैला हुआ है। यहां की पहाड़ी वनो से घिरी हुई है और यहां मन्दाकिनी नदी (chitrakoot River)के पास कई प्रकार के घाट बने हुए है । जिसमे भक्त जनो का आना जाना हमेशा बना रहता है।

यह एक ऐसा तीर्थ स्थल है जहा ऋषि अत्रि और अनुसुइया ने ब्रह्मा , विष्णु, महेश,का ध्यान लगाया और वे तीनो बालक रूप में उनके सामने प्रकट हो गये।

इस तीर्थ स्थल का वर्णन वेद व्यास,कालिदास,संत तुलसीदास जी ने किया है। कुछ लोगो का कहना है की chitrakoot kis jile mein है क्योकि ये धाम  मध्य प्रदेश के सतना जिले में मन्दाकिनी नदी के तट पर बसा हुआ है or  चित्रकूट जिला उत्तर प्रदेश राज्य के बाकि जिलों में से bhi एक है।

4 सितम्बर 1998 को जिले का नाम चित्रकूट रखा गया। यह जिला अनेक आश्चर्य जनक पहाड़ी और प्राकृतिक सौंदर्य से परिपूर्ण है।तुलसी दास,और रहीम ने भी अपनी कृतियों में इसका वर्णन किया है।chitrakoot Jungle बहुत ही घने है य पहाड़ियों के चारो और बने हुए है 

इस पर्वत पर देव कामतानाथ विराजित हैं। जिनकी परिक्रमा और दर्शन मात्र से व्यक्ति को सफलता हासिल होती है। इस मार्ग के चारो और राम मुहल्ला,मुखारबिंद,साक्षी गोपाल,भरत मिलाप,आदि के मंदिर बने हुए हैं और दक्षिण की तरफ लक्ष्मण जी का मंदिर भी बना हुआ है ।इस मार्ग पर भरत मिलाप बना हुआ है जहा भरत श्री राम भगवन से मिलने आये थे। लाखो अहीर और भक्त जन चित्रकूट के मेले में लोक कला और लोक गीत खुलकर मुखरित करते है।

यहां पर प्रभु श्री राम रोज स्नान किया करते थे और यहां पर गोस्वामी तुलसी दास जी की मूर्ति बनायीं गयी हैं। इस घाट पर साधु संत गेरुआ वस्त्र धारण करकर भजन कीर्तन करते हैं और शाम को यह हर रोज़ आरती होती है।

जानकी कुंड ,सीता रसोई

यह कुंड मन्दाकिनी नदी के किनारे बना हुआ है जो की रामघाट से 2 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्तिथ है।चूंकि सीता माता के पिता जनक थे इसलिए उनको जानकी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है|और वे यहां स्नान करती थी ।इसी कुंड पर राम जानकी रघुवीर मंदिर और संकट मोचन मंदिर है।

• स्फटिक शिला

यह शिला जानकीकुंड के पास स्तिथ है। इस शिला पर सीतामाता के पैरो के निशाँ पाए जाते हैं और इसी जगह पर जयंत ने काक रूप धारण कर कर चोंच मारी थी।

अनसुइया अत्रि आश्रम

यह आश्रम स्फटिक शिला से 4km ki दुरी पर स्तिथ है। यहां पर सति अनुसुइया और महर्षि अत्रि के साथ दत्तात्रे और दुर्वासा, चन्द्रमा, आदि की मूर्ति बनाई गयी है और यही पर देवी सीता को पतिव्रत धर्म का उपदेश दिया था।

• गुप्त गोदावरी

18km की दूरी पर गोदावरी स्थित है ।यहां पर दो गुफा हैं जिसमे से एक ऊँची और चौड़ी है। इसके अलावा गुफा के भीतर छोटा तालाब है ।दूसरी गुफा लम्बी और संकरी है, जिसमे हमेशा पानी बहता रहता हैं। यहाँ पर गुफा से जलधारा कुंड में गिरती हैं और वह लुप्त हो जाती है इसलिए इसे गुप्त गोदावरी कहा जाता है।

हनुमान धारा

पहाड़ी के शिखर पर स्थित हनुमान धारा में हनुमान जी की एक बड़ी प्रतिमा है जिसके सामने तालाब में झरने से पानी गिरता है य माना जाता है की श्री राम ने लंका दहन से आये हनुमान के आराम के लिए बनायीं थी। पहाड़ी के शिखर पर सीता रसोई है। चित्रकूट में आज भी हनुमान जी विराजमान है जहा पर लोगो को दैहिक और भौतिक ताप से मुक्ति मिलती है क्योकि यही पर राम जी की कृपा से हनुमान जी को ताप से मुक्ति मिली ,जो लंका दहन के समय से उन्हें कष्ट दे रही थी और अमृत तुल्य शीतल धारा से उनका कष्ट दूर हो गया।

हनुमान धरा मंदिर इस घटना की याद दिलाती है और मान्यता है की हनुमान दर्शन से पहले सभी भक्त जान निचे भरे कुंड केपानी में अपना हाथ मुँह धोते हैं ,इसी स्थान पर पंचमुखी हनुमान जी प्रकट हुए थे जहा पर सीढ़ियां सीधी तो कभी घूमी हुई ही है । इसी जगह पर सीता माता ने भगवान् राम और लक्ष्मण के कंदमूल से रसोई बनायीं थी। इस स्थान पर मंगलवार,शनिवार,नवरात्रो और हनुमान जयंती पर भक्तो की भीड़ जमा होती है।

भरत ने श्री राम के राज्याभिषेक केलिए अत्रि मुनि के कहने पर सभी नदियों का जल इक्कट्ठा करकर एक कूप में रखा था इसलिए इसको भरतकूप के नाम से जाना जाता है।

Kamadgiri is the main holy place of Chitrakoot Dham . The Sanskrit word ‘Kamadgiri’ means the mountain which fulfills all the wishes and desires. The place is believed to have been the abode of Lord Ram, Sita and Laxman during their exile. Lord Kamtanath, another of His names, is the Ishta Deva principal deity not only of Kamadgiri Parvat but of the whole of Chitrakoot. The religious-minded believe that all the holy places (i.e. teerthas) are in the Parikrama or its pilgrimage-path. The pilgrimage path around this hill is about 5 Km long. Chitrakoot Dham is a religious pilgrimage place for Hindus, which is presently divided between India's two states, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. This place is a city of religious, cultural, historical and archaeological importance located in India. This place has also been described in Hindu religious texts and is known for many temples and religious significance.

Chitrakoot Dham is situated on the banks of the Mandakini River, one of the oldest pilgrimage sites in India. Chitrakoot Dham is surrounded by Vindhya mountain ranges and forests; hence this place is also called as a hill of surprise. Many ghat and temples on either side of the Mandakini River are expected to come and visit the devotees all year round.

Religious importance

The religious significance of Chitrakoot Dham is that it is believed that Lord Rama, Sita and Laxman stayed in Chitrakoot for 11 years out of 14 years of exile. At this place, sage Atri and Sati Anasuiya had done austerity. Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh took birth as their own incarnatio in the house of Sati Aansuiya.

It is said when Lord Rama performed his father's Shraddha (i.e. a feast given to all the relatives and friends on the thirteenth day of the death in the family) ceremony at this place in which all the goddesses took part. Ramghat - On the edge of Mandakini River, ghats made from the line are called Ramghat. This is the valley where Lord Rama used to come to daily bath.

Kamdagiri - This holy mountain has considerable religious significance. The devotees wishing to fulfill their desires, by doing 5 kilometers orbiting the Kamdagiri Mountains. Surrounded by forests, there are many temples at the bottom of this mountain. Lord Rama is also known as Kamdanathaji, which literally means fulfilling all desires.

Saptik Shila - This rock is situated on the banks of the Mandakini river, at a some distance from Janaki Kund. Sita's footprints are believed to be printed on this rock. It is said that when she was standing on this rock,  then Jayant (Lord Indra was the son) took the form of a crow and bitten her with a beak.

Sati Anusuiya Atri Ashram - Around 4 kilometers from crystal rock, surrounded by dense forests, it is an ashram located in solitary place. The statue of Atri Muni, Anusuya, Dattatreya and Durgavas Muni is established in this ashram.

Gupta Godavari - 18 kms away from Chitrakot Dham, the Gupta Godavari is located. There are two caves here. A cave is high and wide, it can not be easily accessible due to its narrow gate. At the end of the cave there is a small lake which is called Godavari river. The second cave is long and narrow which always keeps the water flowing. It is said that at the end of the cave, Ram and Lakshman had used for the Darbar.

Hanuman Dhara - Hanuman Dhara is a waterfall that comes from the peak of the hill, which falls in a pond. The huge statue of Lord Hanuman is established in front of the lake. On the top of the hill is the 'Sita Kitchen'. It is said that Lord Rama was made to rest for Hanuman. When Hanuman came here by combustion the Lanka. From here, beautiful scenery of Chitrakoot can be seen.

Bharat Milap - Bharat Milap is located in Kamdagiri where Bharat Milap Temple is located. This is the place where Bharat, Lord Rama met here and urged Lord Rama to return Ayodhya.

Bharat Koop - It is said that, for the coronation of Lord Rama, Bharat collected water from the 5 holy rivers of India. But Lord Rama refused to return to Ayodhya. Then on the advice of Atri Muni, Bharat kept the water in a coupe. This coupe is known as Bharat Coupe. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Rama.

Ram Shaiya - This place is located between Chitrakoot and Bharat Koop. This is the place where Lord Rama and Sita used to sleep in the night.

The Chitrakoot was made a district on 4th September 1998. It is found in the northern part of the Vindhya range of the mountains which is in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Airport facility:

Only one airport is found near Chitrakoot which is almost 106 km in Allahabad named Bamrauli Airport . Khajuraho airport is also the airport but it is 167 km from Chitrakoot. These airports are having direct airplanes to Delhi on the daily basis.

Chitrakoot Tourist place:

Bharat Koop:

Bharat Koop is one of the spiritual wells which is located in the Bharatpur village. It is the village which is located near Chitrakoot. It is considered a tourist attraction in Uttar Pradesh. According to the Ramayana, Bharat wanted to do a tilak ceremony in the forest so he collected water from holy rivers but Lord Rama refused to do the tilak ceremony so he poured all the water in the well after taking advice from sage Atri. Bharat Koop is one of the top 10 places to visit in Chitrakoot.

Bharat Milap temple:

Bharat Milap temple is considered as the religious place in the Chitrakoot. It is considered as the main place where Bharat meets lord Rama and wanted to convince lord Rama to come back to Ayodhya and handle all the authorities of the kingdom after their father’s death because Lord Rama is bigger than all brother’s and it is his right. It is one of the old sayings that nearby rocks and mountains also melt on this occasion. In the Bharat Milap temple, the visitors would be able to see the footprints of these two brothers.

It is a place which is located in the forest of the Chitrakoot. It is 50 km away from the Chitrakoot. One of the old sayings of the Dharkundi is that lord Bhima and princess Hidimba married in this forest. It was believed that if any person bathed in the waterfall or drink water of it all the skin diseases, he/she is facing would be finished.

Ganesh Bagh:

It is one of the most famous tourist places in Chitrakoot. The main thing to see in this place is the temple, palace, and the well with the steps. The temple found here is of lord shiva. This temple is famous for its carvings on pillars and domes. The view from the stairs of the well is so beautiful. All the visitors can enjoy them. It just looks like the Khajuraho temple in the Chitrakoot Madhya Pradesh. This place is also known by the name mini Khajuraho temple.

Gupt Godavari :

It is found 18 km from the Chitrakoot. According to the Ramayana, Lord Rama and Lakshman stayed in this place for some time when they were away from Ayodhya for 14 years. There are two caves in the mountains in which the water is filled up to the knees. One of these caves is very much wide and narrow. It is very much difficult to walk through the cave. The other cave is narrow and long. The flow of the water is continuous.

Hanuman Dhara :

It is one of the famous places in Chitrakoot. In this place, the water is falling on the hanuman’s deity. In this area, many monkeys are found. They are taken as a part of hanuman. This place is known for the old story that hanuman came here and extinguish the fire when he came from Sri Lanka after meeting Mata Sita.

Janki kund:

Janki kund is a place found in Chitrakoot which is 2 km away from ram ghat. Mata Sita was known by the other name Janki. On the backside of the kund, there are two famous temples whose names are sankat mochan hanuman temple and Shree Raghuveer temple. Along this kund, there is a Pramod van. It was the old saying that Mata Sita used to take bath in this place during the time they spend in the forest.

Kalinjar fort:

Kalinjar is a fort that is found at the top of the hill. A fort is a place of treasure because it is having monuments and idols of the Chandela dynasty. This fort is having many temples and buildings inside it. The famous temple named Neelkanth temple is found inside the fort. The pictures of the lord shiva, bhairav, hanuman, Ganesh are carved on the stones.

Kamad giri :

Kamad Giri is a famous hill that is found in Uttar Pradesh. This place is considered one of the holiest places. Many people came to this place to get blessings. The lord Brahma done havan at this place when the Shristi has not been made. in this place, Lord Rama and Mata Sita have spent 12 years of their life from 14 years of exile.

Kamtanath :

Kamtanath is a holy place which is having an old saying that all the wishes and desires can be fulfilled after visiting this place. The parikrama path for the people is 8 km. there are various temples in the parikrama path. This is a place which is green all over the year. It looks like a bow in the Chitrakoot from any place of Chitrakoot. It is a very beautiful place.

Lakshman Pahari:

The Lakshman Pahari is a place where Lakshman used to keep an eye on lord Rama and Mata Sita so that they can sleep properly without any disturbance. Lakshman used to have arrows and bows for their safety. He has to awake all night to protect them. This area is having fresh air. this area is having a ropeway and the view from that place is very much beautiful. This place is very much near to the kamad giri Pahari.

Rajapur is a place which is almost 38 km away from the railway station of the Chitrakoot. The great writer Tulsidas who have written ram Charita manas has taken birth in this village. This area is also having a temple of the Tulsidas. Rajapur is 42 km from the Chitrakoot. This place is located near the bank of the river Yamuna. It is also known by the other name tulsi Dham.

Ram ghat is a place that is visited by many people on a daily purpose. it is located on the river Mandakini. It is an old saying that Lord Rama, Mata Sita, and Lakshman had a long conversation with the Tulsidas. This ghat is having a facility for boating. This is the most beautiful place and even holistic. In this place, hanuman also stands in one corner and gives blessing to all the people coming to this ghat.

Sati Anasuya:

Sati was the wife of Atri Muni and she was having three sons. She used to meditate in this area. This area is having the old story that she has done a lot of meditation due to which Mandakini river has appeared as a result of that. The temple is made in remembrance of her. The surrounding of the temple is so beautiful. The place near this temple is having greenery all around.

Sita Rasoi:

Sita rasoi is a wonderful area which is located on the top of Hanuman Dhara. It is almost 720 steps away from hanuman dhara. It was the old belief that Sita has made the first rasoi in this place after getting married to Lord Rama. This temple is having some utensils which is showing this. The place is very beautiful for the side view. From this place, hanuman dhara is clearly visible.

Sitapur is considered as the holy place and all the pilgrims first take bath in the Sitapur and then start the parikrama of Kamtanath hill. Sitapur is located 2km away from Kamtanath hill. The place firstly was known as the jaisinghpur then afterward it was given the name Sitapur. This area is having many ghats and temples which make this place important.

Sphatik Shila:

Sphatik Shila is a beautiful place which is located near the river Mandakini. This place is having two big rocks and the story tells that the rocks is having the footprints of Lord Rama and Mata Sita. It is a very nice and relaxing place if you are looking for a wonderful place and wanted to relax your mind from the day-to-day work. It is one of the old beliefs that Lord Rama, Mata Sita, and Lord Lakshman were sitting on these stones and making garlands for each other.

Chitrakoot is a very holy place because many teerth places are found here. Many people used to come on a daily basis to make their desires and wishes fulfilled. Some visit this place to relax their mind from the daily and tough times they are facing. Many other people used to visit the Chitrakoot waterfall for enjoying and site viewing. The lord Rama travelled from the kingdom to the Chitrakoot for their exile.
