Dave Matthews Band

Dave Matthews Band is returning this year with a new album and a full summer tour in support. The veteran, record-setting rock band announced on Tuesday (Jan. 24) that Walk Around the Moon , their 10th studio album, is set to drop May 19 via RCA Records.

Looking Ahead: A Release Calendar of Upcoming Albums in 2023

Spanning 12 original tracks, Walk Around the Moon was formed during the pandemic and “is as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground,” reads a statement from the band.

Trending on Billboard

Producer Rob Evans worked on “Madman’s Eyes,” which DMB road-tested at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio, back in November 2021.

The fresh cut blends Middle Eastern vibes with horns and strings, and sees Matthews pose the question, “When it’s too late to untwist the knife/ How do we face hatred with the love inside us.”

Longtime collaborator John Alagia served as executive producer of Walk Around the Moon , with Evans working on most of its tracks. A limited-edition deluxe vinyl option is available exclusively at the official DMB website .

With the new collection comes a major North American jaunt. Following three dates in Mexico, DMB will kick off its U.S. run at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 19. As the calendar currently stands, the trek is scheduled to wrap Sept. 3 with the last in a three-night stand at Gorge Amphitheatre, in George, Wash.

Walk Around the Moon is the follow-up to Come Tomorrow from 2018, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 , the band’s seventh consecutive leader, a hot streak that dates back to 1998’s Before These Crowded Streets. DMB is the only group to see seven straight studio albums bow at No. 1 on the U.S. tally.

Formed in Charlottesville, Va., in 1991, DMB has more than 25 million career ticket sales and upwards of 38 million combined CD and DVD sales, according to reps.

Though, despite winning the fan vote by a wide margin in 2020, DMB has yet to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Tickets for the DMB summer tour will be available to the general public beginning Feb. 17 at 10 a.m. local time.

Visit davematthewsband.com for more information, or check the DMB Warehouse Fan Association for presales.

The band is touring in support of their latest record 'Walk Around the Moon'

dave matthews tour summer 2023

Sanjay Suchak

If you missed a Dave Matthews Band show this summer, don't fret! The band just added more shows.

On Tuesday, the "Crash Into Me" performers announced a series of shows in the fall in support of their latest album Walk Around the Moon .

The shows will kick off on Nov. 7 at Enmarket Arena in Savannah, Ga. and will wrap at Madison Square Garden on Nov. 18 in New York. The band will perform eight shows total.

A portion of the proceeds from their shows in their hometown of Charlottesville, Virginia will benefit the redevelopment of Charlottesville's public housing. Dave Matthews Band, Bama Works and Red Light Management have already committed $5 million to the project.

Presale tickets for members of the DMB Warehouse Fan Association are available now at   www.warehouse.davematthewsband.com . General sale will begin on Friday, Sept. 15.

The band — which is led by Dave Matthews — is currently on their summer tour, with their traditional Labor Day weekend headlining appearance at the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash. this weekend. The group will be joined by a range of other artists, including Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, Briscoe, Tank and the Bangas, Thee Sacred Souls, Sierra Ferrell and Abraham Alexander.

The band — which has sold a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined — announced they would implement an  environmentally focused  component to the tour in January, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint generated from the touring.

According to a press release, their ongoing partnership with The Nature Conservancy has "resulted in three million trees being planted since 2020. This year’s partnership, which will continue with the fall tour, will bring the total to four million trees."

The band released their latest record, Walk Around the Moon , in May.

11/7 – Savannah, GA – Enmarket Arena

11/8 – Greenville, SC – Bon Secours Wellness Arena

Coinciding with the launch of their U.S. summer tour, Dave Matthews Band will release Walk Around The Moon – their 10th studio album and the follow-up to their chart-topping 2018 album, Come Tomorrow – on May 19. Most of the album’s 12 original songs were recorded with producer Rob Evans, including the first single, “Madman’s Eyes,” which was released today. Longtime collaborator, John Alagia, served as executive producer of the album. Walk Around The Moon took shape during the pandemic and is as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground.

After playing a trio of dates in Mexico, Dave Matthews Band will kick off its U.S. tour at The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, TX on May 19. The headline run will include the band’s first show at the historic Forest Hills Stadium in New York on June 9. Dave Matthews Band will play two-night stands in Wilmington, NC; Charleston, SC; Noblesville, IN; Chicago, IL; Gilford, NH; Saratoga Springs, NY; Camden, NJ; West Palm Beach, FL and Irvine, CA. The tour will conclude with the band’s traditional three-day, Labor Day weekend celebration at Gorge Amphitheatre in George, WA (September 1-3).

Today also marks the release of the epic and ominous first single release from Walk Around The Moon. “Madman’s Eyes” weaves Middle Eastern textures with heavy horns and strings as Matthews asks unflinchingly, “When it’s too late to untwist the knife / How do we face hatred with the love inside us.” View the visualizer HERE . Dave Matthews Band gave “Madman’s Eyes” its live debut at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, OH in November 2021. The pre-order for the physical album, featuring a limited-edition deluxe vinyl option, is exclusively available now at DaveMatthewsBand.com .

Dave Matthews’ ongoing partnership with The Nature Conservancy has resulted in three million trees being planted since 2020. This year’s continued partnership will bring the total to four million trees.  Fans can join in this mission by adding an optional donation of $2 per ticket to plant a tree with The Nature Conservancy’s Plant a Billion Trees campaign – a major forest restoration effort with the goal of planting a billion trees around the world by 2025. For additional details, visit www.dmbtrees.org . Once again, Dave Matthews Band will offset carbon emissions for band/fan travel with the assistance of REVERB, creating a climate positive tour. REVERB will also produce the tour’s annual eco-village.

Named as a UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador in 2019, Dave Matthews Band has a long history of reducing their environmental footprint, going back to their first shows in 1991. The band has sold more than 25 million tickets since its inception, making them the second largest ticket-seller in history, and has sold a collective 38 million CDs and DVDs combined.

“I’m excited for ‘After Everything,’ — the new album’s penultimate track — because I think it’s going to be dramatic live, because there’s so many turns in it that I think where the visual part of it and the sonic part come together, things seem almost impossible,” Dave Matthews told Variety ahead of the album’s release.

Most of the album’s 12 original songs are produced by Rob Evans, including its first single “Madman’s Eyes.” The band first debuted the song live in Columbus, Ohio, in November 2021. Longtime DMB collaborator John Alagia serves as executive producer on “Walk Around the Moon,” which “took shape” during the pandemic and “is as much a reflection on the current times as it is an urge to find common ground,” according to a press release from the band.

For the tour, DMB is once again partnering with Reverb to offset carbon emissions for band and fan travel, creating a climate positive tour.

Dave Matthews Band Unveil Tour Openers: Trombone Shorty, Neko Case, Cory Wong and More

Dave Matthews Band Unveil Tour Openers: Trombone Shorty, Neko Case, Cory Wong and More

Dave Matthews Band have unveiled the special guests to be featured at three of the group’s most hotly anticipated 2024 residencies. For its upcoming series at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall, East Troy, Wisc.’s Alpine Valley Music Theatre and Quincy, Wash.’s iconic The Gorge Amphitheatre, the jam ensemble will call on a cadre of high-profile acts, including Trombone Shorty, Neko Case, Cory Wong and many more. Given Matthews’ noted policy on carefully selecting his outfit’s openers, these impressive acts are lent yet another degree of prestige.

On Tuesday, April 2, DMB set off its first European tour since 2019 with a presentation at Amsterdam’s AFAS Live, blazing through a strong start to the 19-show run. This sprint will bring the ensemble to the historic Royal Albert Hall in London on April 24 and 25; for the sold-out pair, the band has tapped rising UK-based singer-songwriter Myles Smith, who has garnered acclaim for his eclectic blend of influences, including folk, pop, Americana and Afroswing.

Following the conclusion of its Euro tour, Dave Matthews Band will dash into its stateside summer tour, plotting 35 performances from May 22 through September 29. One month into this run, the band will touch down in East Troy, Wis. for two nights at the Alpine Valley Music Theatre on June 21 and 22. On night one, Nashville, Tenn. singer-songwriter Katie Pruitt will warm the stage with her expressive and introspective Americana-tinted alt-rock. Enigmatic up-and-comer Michael Maragi will follow on night two, introducing the crowd to the witty, sharply analytical folk-rock originals that lined his debut LP American Romance in February.

At the summer’s end, the band will stage its most exciting headline shows of the year with a three-night return to The Gorge Amphitheatre in Quincy, Wash., carrying on its 28-year tradition from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. To amplify this signature series, the Matthews has selected a diverse and impressive roster of artists. For the residency’s kick-off, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue and Say She She will take the stage, followed by Cory Wong and Blind Pilot on night two and Neko Case and Maggie Rogers for the series closer.

In a 2023 conversation with Relix , Matthews spoke on the intention that conditions his guest selections. “We did go back to two sets for a little while and that had to do with openers. I enjoy having openers, but quite often, these openers didn’t get to play for many people. Sometimes they were playing for almost no one because people would wait in the parking lot. I still enjoy bringing out bands that I love and I still do it sometimes, but I like to choose my venues, where I know they’re going to get a bigger audience.”

TOUR GREENING AND SUSTAINABILITY

The road to zero-waste.

Dave Matthews Band , their management team at Red Light , and REVERB are teaming up with venue partners including Oak View Group to lead the way toward zero-waste concerts. Efforts include:

  • Reducing or eliminating single-use plastic
  • Offering compost collection for fans and backstage
  • Transitioning to multi-use or plastic alternative recyclable or compostable materials

While select shows will be zero-waste, each venue on the fall tour is taking measures to reduce or eliminate non-recyclable and non-compostable items. Together, we’re working to develop solutions that can limit landfill waste throughout live music.

Waste Reduction

  • No single-use plastic water bottles or cups backstage!
  • Reusable water bottles and insulated mugs for artists and crew
  • Reusable or compostable service ware in catering and on buses
  • Water refill stations throughout backstage area, catering, and on tour buses

Waste Diversion

  • Recycling: Backstage, in offices and catering, and on tour buses
  • Battery Reclamation and Recycling: Collecting dead batteries for recycling and donating batteries with remaining power to people in need
  • Toiletry Donations: Collecting unused toiletries from hotel stays and donating to local food security organizations

Additional Steps

  • Farm-to-Stage: Local farm resources and food for catering
  • Green Cleaning Products for backstage, offices, catering, and tour buses

Addressing Carbon Emissions

In addition to the above efforts to reduce the tour’s environmental footprint, remaining greenhouse gas emissions are measured and neutralized through vetted climate projects

  • Calculate tour carbon emissions from travel and transportation, hotel stays, venue energy usage, fan travel, and more
  • REVERB Climate Portfolio: Dave Matthews Band is committed to addressing tour emissions through support of REVERB’s Climate Portfolio. The portfolio funds verified greenhouse gas pollution reduction projects and climate justice efforts to neutralize carbon emissions and strengthen historically marginalized communities facing the worst impacts of the climate crisis.

MUSIC CLIMATE REVOLUTION

DMB is taking climate action on tour as a partner of Music Climate Revolution . In addition to taking steps with REVERB to reduce the environmental footprint of touring, the band has committed to calculating and addressing tour emissions not mitigated through other means.

Major sources of tour emissions including band and crew travel, hotel stays, gear transport, venue energy use, fan travel, and more, are calculated at the conclusion of the tour. In acknowledgement of those emissions, the band supports innovative third-party verified climate projects that measurably prevent, sequester, or reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Day tour to Gorki Leninskie

► Tours ► Day Tours   ► From Moscow   ► Day tour to Gorki Leninskie

Even if you are not a massive fan of the USSR, Lenin or socialism, Gorki Leninskie on the outskirts of Moscow is still a great place to visit, as it is one of the few estate houses in Russia belonging to a middling-class of landowners which has survived today with its interior intact. Of course the reason it has survived intact is thanks to the fact that Lenin spent the last years of his life here and after his death it was turned into a museum. Before Lenin, the estate belonged to the Zinaida Morozova – the widow of the famous Russian patron of the arts Savva Morozov. After the death of her husband, Zinaida wanted to turn the estate at Gorki into a family home with her new husband Anatoly Reinbolt, and the famous Russian architect Fyodor Shekhtel was hired to carry out the reconstruction

  • The Large House – this is the house where Lenin spent the last years of his life and where he died on 21 January 1924. You will see not only the rooms where he worked and relaxed, but also the rooms of his sister, the beautiful summer gardens and lots of items connected with Lenin and the former owners of the estate.
  • Lenin’s Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost – this car was bought in England for governmental use. At first it was a standard car with four wheels, but it was transferred to a factory in St Petersburg for modification: its body was placed on caterpillar tracks and skis were attached to the front. Lenin travelled from Moscow to Gorki in this car, and made trips around the Moscow Region in it. On the night of 21 January 1924, after the autopsy on Lenin's body, Lenin’s brain was taken in this car to Moscow to be studied, and on the return journey the car brought back a zinc coffin.
  • Lenin's Kremlin office and apartment – on 12 December 1922 Lenin worked for the last time at his office in the Kremlin and departed for Gorki. His Kremlin office and apartment was then sealed shut. During the presidency of Yeltsin the rooms were opened up and it was decided to transfer the furniture to Gorki Leninskie where the rooms were recreated. You will see here the actual furniture that Lenin used as well as other interesting artefacts, some of which date from an even earlier period: a map of the time of the Russian Civil War, materials for congresses and conferences, collections of statistics, and presents from workers and peasants sent from all over the country. The clocks in the office display the time of 8.15 when Lenin last left his office.
  • Lenin Museum – this is the newest building on the estate. The museum was built in 1987 and represents a true monument of the late Soviet period. The museum was cutting edge for its time and features audio components. The centre of each hall has a cube of black glass which displays a six-minute long film. The museum may be dedicated to Lenin, but today it also serves as a museum of the technology and spirit of the Soviet Union in the 1980s.
  • Burial of the Leader Monument - this is one of the most unusual monuments of Vladimir Lenin. Nowhere else is the founder of the Soviet Union depicted as a corpse being carried, after all “Lenin lived, Lenin lives and Lenin will always live". The designer is Sergey Merkurov who also was responsible for creating Lenin’s death mask. He was at the time the country’s leading specialists in death masks and also worked on death masks for Lev Tolstoy, Vladimir Mayakovsky, Mikhail Bulgakov and Maksim Gorky.

Moscow Metro

The Moscow Metro Tour is included in most guided tours’ itineraries. Opened in 1935, under Stalin’s regime, the metro was not only meant to solve transport problems, but also was hailed as “a people’s palace”. Every station you will see during your Moscow metro tour looks like a palace room. There are bright paintings, mosaics, stained glass, bronze statues… Our Moscow metro tour includes the most impressive stations best architects and designers worked at - Ploshchad Revolutsii, Mayakovskaya, Komsomolskaya, Kievskaya, Novoslobodskaya and some others.

What is the kremlin in russia?

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.

Most of the album’s 12 original songs were recorded with producer Rob Evans, including the first single, “Madman’s Eyes,” which was released today. Longtime collaborator, John Alagia, served as executive producer of the album.
