If you've dreamed of riding the waves in Waikiki or staying in an overwater bungalow in Bora Bora , Delta Vacations might be able to make your dreams come true.

The airline's "Firsts That Last" contest is about one thing—trying new things or experiences for the first time to create memories that will last a lifetime.

"We want customers to experience Delta Vacations in an unforgettable way—especially if it's their first time traveling with us," said Brian Canning, chief marketing, product, and customer experience officer for Delta Vacations, in a statement. "Going on vacation is more than just getting away; it's personal. Delta Vacations curates vacations to fit every traveler's needs, vacation style, and preference. We want travelers to experience the ease of planning a memorable vacation."

There are 12 vacation options worldwide, including the Waikiki and Bora Bora trips mentioned above. If those destinations don't suit your fancy, you can try for one of the other ten destinations— London , Cape Town , Guanacaste, Orlando , Rome , Greece , Las Vegas , Aruba , the Riviera Maya , and Montego Bay —each with its own signature experience.

In London, travelers can experience "The Making of Harry Potter," the official tour at Warner Bros. Studio. In Rome, the itinerary will include a private Vatican tour and an Italian cooking class. Travelers headed to Guanacaste will hike the Arenal Volcano, and those headed to Greece will delight in a cruise around the Saronic islands. Cape Town will host wine tours, Vegas will host helicopter and food tours, and the Riviera Maya will host a private Chichen Itza tour. Those interested in Montego Bay, Orlando, or Aruba can ride a boat in a bioluminescent bay, spend three days at Universal Studios, and take a natural pool jeep adventure, respectively.

Each trip is worth anywhere between $4,000 to $22,000, and airfare, accommodations (for 2 to 4 people depending on the trip), and activities are all included. There will be 12 winners selected, one for each trip. Winners will be notified via email around Dec. 1, according to the contest's official rules.

To enter, head to DeltaVacationsFirstsThatLastContest.com , answer the questions, and cross your fingers. You have until 11:59 Eastern on Nov. 19, 2022, to enter.

For details, visit our Baggage & Travel Fees page .

Mileage difference, taxes and fees apply for any changes. Changes to Pay with Miles tickets are determined by the fare rules of the ticket purchased.

Mileage Upgrade Awards may be surrendered or cancelled any time prior to the scheduled flight departure time. Members may reissue or change a Mileage Upgrade Award prior to departure time. Taxes, fees and any additional collection is based on the rules of the purchased fare.

Not applicable where prohibited by local law.

1 Charges may vary by country. Charges will only apply to tickets issued in select European countries and Members may be eligible for a waiver of the direct ticketing international charge upon request. Charges are waived for all other points of origin.

2 Basic Economy fares are not eligible to make same-day confirmed or same-day standby travel changes, regardless of Medallion or other elite Status. Same-day Standby and Same-Day Confirmed are limited to availability, and only available on domestic flights.

See what other taxes and fees apply to your Award Ticket .

Terms & Conditions:

Your SkyMiles account must have enough miles for the Award Ticket you are purchasing.

All Awards are subject to availability, and additional taxes and fees may apply. See Membership Guide & Program Rules for details.

Awards are subject to capacity controls. Awards may require higher prices depending on routing rules and restrictions. Exceptions to these rules may require additional mileage or taxes and fees. Travel to all destinations within region may not be available at lowest price. Not all countries within region are serviced by Delta and/or partner airlines. Taxes and fees for Award Travel are the responsibility of the passenger and must be paid at the time the ticket is issued. The payment of any taxes, fees, and other government-, airport- or carrier-imposed charges is the responsibility of the passenger. Award redemption requires payment of at least $11.20 in U.S. government taxes and fees for domestic itineraries and may include up to $600 for foreign government taxes and fees and/or carrier-imposed fees for international itineraries.

Award seats may be limited and not available on all Delta Connection flights. Offers and benefits subject to change without notice. Other restrictions may apply.

Award Tickets issued by Delta Reservation Sales over the phone, in person at a ticket office or airport ticket counter, may be subject to a direct ticketing charge . Charges only apply to tickets issued in select European countries and may be waived upon request. Charges are waived for all other points of sale.

In some cases, seat assignments are made automatically based upon your preference for a window or aisle seat, noted in My Profile . We will request seat assignments when traveling on an airline partner at the time of ticketing. Seat assignments may not always be confirmed at the time of the request. Contact the airline partner directly for seat requests. If your seating preference is not available, "NA" will appear in the "Seat Assignment" column of your itinerary. In this case, you will receive your seat during check-in on the date of departure or you can go to Itineraries to select a seat. We accommodate the seating requirements of customers with certain types of disabilities. This could result in the occasional need to change another individual's pre-assigned seat, with bulkhead seats being particularly subject to reassignment.

Pay with Miles

Take a shortcut to your next adventure by using Pay with Miles*. Exclusively for Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members, Pay with Miles is a Card benefit that gives you more flexibility by taking dollars off of Delta tickets or allowing you to use miles when you don’t have quite enough to cover the full ticket. Not yet a Card Member and based in the U.S. or its territories? Learn more about The Delta SkyMiles American Express Cards  here .

HOW TO PAY WITH MILES

  • Log in at delta.com
  • Go to Book a Trip
  • Select flights marked as “Pay with Miles eligible”
  • On the ‘Trip Summary’ page, choose “Pay with Miles” and pay with miles, money or a combination of both
  • After you make your selection, continue booking your ticket
  • If you choose to pay for a fare with both miles and a credit card, use your Delta SkyMiles American Express Card to pay for the remaining ticket price

Not U.S.-based? You may be eligible to use Pay with Miles internationally if you’re a SkyMiles Credit Card Member in certain countries. Learn more .

HOW DOES IT WORK*?

Pay with Miles is an exclusive benefit for Delta SkyMiles American Express Card Members.  This benefit allows Card Members to use their miles, starting at just 5,000 miles, to discount the price of Delta tickets.  Regardless of ticket price, a Card Member can reduce the cost of their ticket by up to $50 for every 5,000 miles. For example, redeeming 10,000 of your miles takes $100 off your fare, 15,000 miles takes $150 off, 20,000 miles takes $200 off, etc.

For example: a Card Member who currently has 22,000 miles in their SkyMiles account selects a round-trip flight from Atlanta, GA to Washington, D.C. for $250 total fare. By using Pay with Miles, the Card Member can redeem 20,000 miles to reduce the ticket cost by $200. The Card Member would then pay $50 and 20,000 miles for the ticket.

Fact check: No, Delta Air Lines is not giving away $1,000 credit to women age 40 and older

delta travel contest

The claim: Delta Air Lines is giving $1,000 credit to women 40 and older

An April 10 Facebook post ( direct link , archive link ) claims women over a certain age can take advantage of a major promotion from one of the nation's biggest airlines.

"Delta's First-Class Seats are often Empty," reads the post. "Delta offers $1000 Delta Credit to women over 40 to occupy those seats! Answer 4 questions to get the 1000."

The post was shared more than 50 times in less than two weeks. Other versions of the claim racked up hundreds of additional shares .

Our rating: False

Delta Air Lines is not offering any such promotion. The posts are scams, and the websites direct Facebook users to answer a series of questions and submit personal information. None of the pages touting the supposed promotion are affiliated with Delta.

Delta may offer money for overbooked flights, but not just for women over 40

No such offer is mentioned in  Delta's official   social media accounts , website or news releases .

The pages touting the promotion do not have a blue verified check mark , which Facebook uses to identify authentic brand accounts and can be seen on Delta's official Facebook page . They were also created the same day the scam posts appeared, another sign of illegitimacy.

The links in the posts direct Facebook users to a website, unaffiliated with Delta, that asks them a series of questions, then prompts them to select one of 12 gift boxes. After selecting one with a gift card inside of it, they are asked for personal information, including their phone number and mailing address.

Fact check: Delta debunks rumor that vaccinated pilot died mid-flight

Though the particular promotion mentioned in the posts is false, the airline does at times offer money to travelers.

Its customer commitment policy says in the event of an oversold flight, the airline will offer compensation for those who voluntarily give up their seat. The offer allows customers to select from a choice of gift cards, which includes Delta gift cards that can be used to book future flights.

In 2022, passengers reported the airline offered $10,000 to each person who did so on an oversold flight from Michigan to Minnesota, as reported by USA TODAY .

USA TODAY previously debunked a similar claim that Amtrak was giving free one-year passes to women 40 and older.

USA TODAY reached out to Delta and users who shared the claim for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

Why can’t I put Australia in the Bali contest that is open to all?

I know the answer to Bali contest but at the end it’s not for an Indian

thank you for catching that. I corrected the mistakes.

Who told you that at the end its not for indian? i participated that contest and submitted my entry with right answer.

Some links took me to the hotel homepage rather than the contests. Otherwise, great work!

Thank you once again for these. I am unable to enter the “AMAZING CONTEST Soneva” contest. The page says that, “page could not be found.” Please may you help with that. I’d really love to enter that one. Thanks

I have updated the link (with Soneva’s Instagram page, which gives more info on the contest).

You informed: “Win a luxury summer escape to Ibiza, Spain (…) Eligibility: open to all …” But its terms and conditions indicates: “ELIGIBILITY: (…) 2.This Competition is only open to residents of the UK who are aged 18 years or (…)” Regards, P. Espinosa .

I would like to participate in the Soneva contest… I have been looking for on Soneva website, I found some videos for each month, but I dont see how “like” the video of the month. Could you please tell me where is the video of the month that I should like, tags, etc to enter the contest. Maybe if you could add a direct link would be great. Thanks! Amazing page! Amazing YT videos! Simply the best!

This is Soneva’s current video of the month: https://www.instagram.com/p/BnMjezNj3lo/?hl=nl&taken-by=discoversoneva

Hello from Greece! Why the best of your giveaways are open only to US and UK citizens?? Here in Greece we do not get paid as much as they do and we want to join your beautiful contests! Please give more opportunities for European Residents! Thanks 🙂

I am from Zimbabwe, Africa, and would love to see more opportunities for us too 🙂

How to enter this brussels airline european destination thing. It only opens terms and conditions

Do you have to answer the question correctly to win?

the Oman contest is definitely not open for all. Typically CN traveller contest are not. You have to enter county (not country!), as its just for UK residents mostly.

It appears that the link to the contest for Jacuzzi Beach Villa at Reethi Faru Resort is linked to a contest for a trip to Abu Dhabi. Will you kindly check on this? Thanks!

Sorry about that. I now inserted the correct link.

i’m from Indonesia and thank’s for your info contest, i hope someday i can visit many destinations of all around the world like you.

I’m very frustrated that almost all of these sweepstakes are not open to people in the United States. We would be willing to fly over there. And leave from the destination. I have a daughter who lives in the UK will that qualify me?

Hi! In the “Trip Around the World” contest, you stated that it is open to US & Canada residents. However, when I went to the contest page, it states that it is open for US residents only. I am from Canada and I hope my entries in this contest are not in vain. Thank you! 🙂

Thank you so much for this

A site should move towards a principled marketing strategy with content that attracts new users every day and causes them to introduce the site to others.

Designers must be very creative and have good cooperation and interaction with authors.

The content should be attractive enough. So your need to draw the user to your site again and again is to produce content with the right marketing.

These travel contests sound too good to be true! Winning a luxury getaway to places like Portugal, Italy, or even an adventurous cruise in Patagonia would be a dream come true. The variety of destinations and experiences offered, from stargazing in Italy to a luxury stay in Mykonos, truly caters to every taste. It’s amazing that most of these are open to everyone. Fingers crossed, and hoping to win one of these fantastic prizes!

The array of travel contests on offer is absolutely stunning! From serene beachfront stays in Greece to exhilarating Arctic expeditions, each opportunity seems like a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. I appreciate the inclusivity with contests open to various regions, making it exciting for a broader audience. The thought of winning makes the wanderlust in me all the more eager to enter. It’s a brilliant chance to explore the world’s beauty without the financial strain. Truly, a wanderer’s dream come true!

I think some of these trips are stupid. Why, most are a 2 day trip. Which depending where you live, it can take a Day just to travel there and a Day to get back, A 2 day trip is really an 1 overnight ??? Tell me what can you see or enjoy?

Delta is changing how it boards passengers starting May 1

By Megan Cerullo

Edited By Aimee Picchi

Updated on: April 12, 2024 / 12:35 PM EDT / CBS News

Delta Air Lines is changing its boarding process beginning May 1 in an effort to speed up loading passengers onto planes.

If you're flying on the airline, you'll have to know what zone number you're in to board in the correct sequence. The move is hardly innovative, experts say, and instead reflects a return to the traditional way of boarding passengers followed by most airlines.

That's because Delta is introducing numbered boarding zones for all flights, meaning that customers will have a zone number assigned to them instead of boarding groups labelled by airline status or fare class, such as "Sky Priority." The airline stressed that boarding orders will not change, but the group names will.

When Delta introduced its branded fare boarding process in 2018, it called zone boarding "a thing of the past." But the airline is now reverting to the traditional way of boarding people, in what some experts call an unusual move for an innovative airline.

Customers who need more assistance will still pre-board as usual before passengers in Zone 1, which will comprise Delta One and First Class customers. Zone 2 will include Diamond Medallion Members and Delta Premium Select ticket holders.

Delta Comfort+ customers will board in Zone 3, followed by Sky Priority in Zone 4, according to a  chart  on the airline's website. Zone numbers will go up to 8, when basic economy passengers will board.

Delta said the change is small, but could make the process easier for infrequent fliers and non-English speakers who only have to listen for a number to know when it's their turn to board. The change will also make the process less stressful for gate agents, Delta added.

Still, some travel experts questioned whether the change would meaningfully speed up the boarding process.

"They're not changing who boards when or the sequence," Clarkson University professor John Milne, an expert on airline boarding, told CBS MoneyWatch. "All they are changing is the names of what passenger group boards next."

In a statement to CBS MoneyWatch, Delta said the "simple change" will "provide customers more clarity into the boarding sequence and make the boarding process more intuitive—especially for infrequent travelers and/or customers who might face a language barrier at the gate."

Delta added, "Numbered zones will also align more closely with our joint venture and international partners, providing international customers a more simplified, consistent experience when traveling on mixed-metal itineraries. "

CEO Ed Bastian addressed the change on the company's first quarter earnings call Wednesday. "When you have a number and you're standing in line, we are all trained to know when it's our turn," Bastian said.

Superficial changes?

The change is fairly superficial, Milne said, noting there are other changes Delta and its competitors could make to boarding processes that would make them more efficient.

The airline still prioritizes passengers with airline status or who paid for a higher class fare on a particular flight. Instead, it would be more efficient to board passengers based on where on the aircraft they are seated, Milne said.

For example, boarding window seat customers in the back half of the plane first would speed up the process. "That way you would minimize some of the congestion," he said.

Delta instead assigns passengers to boarding groups based on their loyalty to the airline and ticket prices.

Travel expert Scott Keyes also emphasized that the change does little to meaningfully improve or expedite the boarding process. All Delta is doing is reverting to the traditional way of boarding passengers and scrapping its branded boarding process that began in 2018, he noted.

"The fact that they've reverted to numbered zones, like those employed by virtually all other airlines, speaks volumes," Keyes said. "Traditionally, Delta has been seen as the innovative airline and others have followed suit. In this case, Delta's innovation didn't pan out, and they've been forced to once again mimic American and United's boarding processes."

To be sure, any move that would actually speed up passenger boarding could give an airline a leg up on competitors.

"Speeding up the boarding process by even 10 minutes can prevent delays, and if sustained, allow airlines to add an additional daily flight to the schedule," Keyes said.

The airline posted a $37 million first-quarter profit on Wednesday and said demand for air travel is strong heading into the busy summer travel season. Travelers are flocking to book trips despite a string of recent air safety incidents, including a panel blowing off a Boeing 737 Max aircraft during an Alaska Airlines flight.

Delta Airlines to change boarding process for airline travelers in May

The airline is updating the boarding process for flyers, getting rid of the boarding categories like "Diamond Medallions," "Delta Premium Select" and "Sky Priority." Instead, the categories will go by zones, but the order of priority will remain the same, with the cheapest tickets boarding last.

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

In  May 2024,  Delta will introduce eight zones, starting with "pre-boarding" and "first-class" as zone one. The "main cabin" groups are zones five to seven, with "basic economy" as zone eight.

According to a  Delta article , updated on April 9, the change intends to limit confusion. "Starting May 1, Delta will introduce numbered boarding zones for all flights to provide customers with more clarity about boarding sequence. Delta will still offer pre-board opportunities for customers who need extra time or assistance, followed by active-duty military, then Delta 360 Members."

Plane Passenger's Photo of Someone's Coat Covering Seatback TV Screen Sparks Debate: 'Ready to Get Triggered?'

The passenger had users divided on Reddit, as some argued they should have spoken up while others claimed it’s the flight attendant’s job to notice

  • A plane passenger sparked a heated conversation on Reddit after sharing a photo of someone’s jacket covering their seatmate’s TV screen
  • Commenters were outraged that the flight attendant didn’t notice or that the passenger didn’t ask for the jacket to be removed

An airline passenger is sparking quite the debate after sharing a photo of their seatmate’s seatback TV screen covered by the jacket of the person sitting in front of them.

In the snap shared by user @WheatlyWoodson on the r/Delta subreddit , a brown jacket belonging to the passenger sitting in the row in front of them can be seen wrapped around the top of their seat. The jacket completely blocks the TV screen of the middle seat passenger sitting behind them, which appears to be the original poster’s (OP) seatmate.

“Ready to get triggered?” they captioned the post, prompting a frenzy of comments below.

The OP noted that the passenger whose screen was being blocked “said she wasn't going to say anything, so neither did I. But she had to sadly just scroll Instagram and text for an entire 4 hour flight.”

The OP offered some additional context in the comments, revealing that the jacket belonged to a “veeery old woman” sitting in front of them.

The user continued, “I do wish the [flight attendant] had said something, because this is a situation where no one is going to say anything to a very old lady. But I also feel bad for the middle [passenger] for being in an awkward situation.”

PEOPLE reached out to Delta for comment but has not received a response.

Users in the comments immediately told the OP what they thought should have been done.

One wrote, “I don't know how a FA (flight attendant) wouldn't notice this,” followed by another adding, “Yep, I would have called the FA, pointed at the jacket, and left it at that — let the FA handle it since it’s a sensitive situation.”

After one person wrote, “There's literally a screen in front of them...no excuse,” a different user offered a more compassionate perspective in response.

“I mean, we all make these mistakes sometimes. Speak up and move on,” they wrote.

Never miss a story — sign up for PEOPLE's free daily newsletter to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from juicy celebrity news to compelling human interest stories.

Multiple users who claim to be flight attendants then jumped into the conversation.

“As a FA, please tell me. A lot of the time they don't realize it's covering the monitor,” one wrote. “People go through life in their own bubble. Let me help them realize they're not the only ones on the planet.”

Another added, “As a FA, I will say something and ask the passenger to move their jacket, even offer to put it in the overhead bin for them. A lot of people don’t like confrontation especially if she was elderly but I have no problem doing it for them.”

Southwest to Launch a New Route to Nashville in June

On June 4, the airline will introduce nonstop flights to Nashville from Cincinnati and boost its service from Cincinnati to Orlando.

delta travel contest

Taylor McIntyre/Travel + Leisure

Southwest Airlines is expanding out of Cincinnati with more flights to Music City. On June 4, the airline will introduce nonstop flights to Nashville, which will be offered 5x/weekly on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) shared on X. When the new route begins, Southwest will be the only carrier to offer nonstop service, making it easier than ever for travelers to reach the beloved destination. Along with the announcement, Southwest will bring more flights from Cincinnati to Orlando, competing with Frontier and Delta. In early June, the airline will introduce two additional flights to its existing route, bringing a total of 5x/weekly service on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Southwest will fly its Boeing 737-800 aircraft with 175 seats on both routes this summer. Travelers can book these flights from Cincinnati on Southwest’s website , its mobile app, or even through the airline’s major credit card partner, Chase , by redeeming Ultimate Rewards points. By the summer, Southwest will fly to six destinations out of Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. In addition to Nashville and Orlando, the airline offers nonstop service between Cincinnati and Baltimore, Chicago-Midway, Denver, and Phoenix.

This domestic airport was once a focus city for Delta Air Lines, so the addition of more nonstop flights from Southwest is great news for travelers. Budget carrier Frontier Airlines recently announced a major expansion from the airport, offering nonstop service to cities like Boston, Charlotte, Houston, and more, to begin in May.  Loyal Southwest fliers who have plenty of Rapid Rewards points to burn can take advantage of the airline’s current sale, which will end tonight, April 15, at 11:59 p.m. PT. With promo code SAVE25NOW, travelers can save 25% off base fares on award flights through Sept. 30 to plenty of routes, including these Cincinnati flights.

Delta Air Lines posts a narrow Q1 profit and says travel demand remains strong despite flight scares

Delta Air Lines eked out a narrow first-quarter profit and said Wednesday that demand for travel is strong heading into the summer vacation season, with travelers seemingly unfazed by recent incidents in the industry that ranged from a panel blowing off a jetliner in flight to a tire falling off another plane during takeoff.

Delta reported the highest revenue for any first quarter in its history and a $37 million profit. It expects record-breaking revenue in the current quarter as well. The airline said that second-quarter earnings will likely beat Wall Street expectations.

CEO Ed Bastian said Delta’s best 11 days ever for ticket sales occurred during the early weeks of 2024.

If travelers are worried about a spate of problem flights and increased scrutiny of plane maker Boeing , “I haven’t seen it,” Bastian said in an interview. “I only look at my numbers. Demand is the healthiest I’ve ever seen.”

A slight majority of Delta’s fleet of more than 950 planes are Boeing models, but in recent years it has bought primarily from Airbus , including a January order for 20 big Airbus A350s. As a result, Delta will avoid the dilemma facing rivals United Airlines and American Airlines, which can’t get all the Boeing planes they ordered. United is even asking pilots to take unpaid time off in May because of a plane shortage.

“Airbus has been consistent throughout these last five years (at) meeting their delivery targets,” Bastian said.

Delta does not operate any Boeing 737 Max jets, the plane that was grounded worldwide after two fatal crashes in 2018 and 2019, and which suffered the panel blowout on an Alaska Airlines flight this year. However, the Atlanta-based airline has ordered a new, larger version of the Max that still hasn’t been approved by regulators. Bastian said Delta will be happy to use the Max 10 when they arrive.

While Delta has largely dodged headaches caused by Boeing, it faces other obstacles in handling this summer’s crowds.

Delta is lobbying the federal government to again allow it to operate fewer flights into the New York City area. Otherwise, Delta could lose valuable takeoff and landing slots.

The Federal Aviation Administration granted a similar request last summer and even extended it until late October . The FAA said the relief helped airlines reduce canceled flights at the region’s busy three main airports by 40%.

Peter Carter, an executive vice president who oversees government affairs, said Delta and other airlines need another waiver permitting fewer flights this summer because the FAA still doesn’t have enough air traffic controllers.

“Absent the waiver, I think we would have, as an industry, some real challenges in New York,” Carter said.

Airlines for America, a trade group of the major U.S. carriers, is also pushing for a waiver from rules on minimum flights in New York. The FAA said it would review the request.

Delta customers will see another change — a new system for boarding planes . Instead of boarding by groups with names such as Diamond Medallions, Delta Premium Select and Sky Priority, passengers will board in groups numbered one through eight. The airline says it will be less confusing.

“When you have a number and you’re standing in line, we are all trained to know when it’s our turn,” Bastian said.

The change won’t alter the pecking order of when each type of customer gets to board. Those with the cheapest tickets, Basic Economy, will still board last.

Delta’s first-quarter profit follows a $363 million loss a year ago, when the results were weighed down by spending on a new labor contract with pilots.

“We expect Delta to be one of the few airlines to report a profit in the March quarter,” TD Cowen analyst Helane Becker said even before Delta’s results were released.

Delta said that excluding special items, it earned 45 cents per share. Analysts were expecting 36 cents per share, according to a FactSet survey.

The airline forecast second-quarter earnings of $2.20 to $2.50 per share. The Wall Street consensus was $2.22 per share. The company stood by its forecast of full-year earnings between $6 and $7 per share.

First-quarter revenue rose 8%, to $13.75 billion. Putting Delta’s Pennsylvania refinery aside, operating revenue was slightly more than analysts predicted. The airline said second-quarter revenue will be 5% to 7% higher than a year ago.

The airline reported that large corporate customers — who were slower than leisure travelers to resume flying after the coronavirus pandemic — are spending more on travel, including firms in technology and financial services.

Delta has boosted profit by focusing more on premium passengers who pay the highest fares, and raking in money from a credit-card partnership with American Express.

Costs could rise too, however. Jet fuel is higher than it was a year ago, following a run-up in oil prices, and Delta is spending more on aircraft maintenance this year.

Shares of Delta Air Lines Inc. fell 2.3% by the end of regular trading Wednesday.
