The waterfall basin is very shallow, so you don’t have to worry if you don’t know how to swim. (But it is very rocky, so you should wear shoes that can handle that.) You would see the next cascade, which is smaller than the first one, a little farther down the falls. And its water falls into a small green pool that is clean. 7 MUST-SEE WATERFALLS IN BOHOL

Can-umantad falls.

Can-umantad Falls in Candijay is the biggest and arguably the best waterfall in Bohol.

Located high in the hills away from the main tourist towns, Can-umantad Falls is an adventure not to be missed.

Can Umantad Falls is located in the Candijay region in Bohol.  From Anda, i t takes approximately 50 minutes to get to Can-umantad Falls.

If you are staying in the main tourist area of Panglao, Can Umantad Falls is a 105km drive that takes approximately 2.5 hours.

At the jump-off point, you’ll have to pay a 20 pesos entrance fee and from here it’s a short 5-minute walk along a clearly marked trail to reach Can-umantad Falls Bohol.

The way is made up of dirt trails, stone steps, and wooden bridges that cross the running freshwater stream.

There are several rockpools leading up to the main set of falls which are very inviting with their milky blue waters.

The height of Can-umantad Falls is said to be 60ft making it the tallest waterfall in Bohol.

Its water source originates from Pundol Spring in Cadapdapan, making its way downstream to the 60ft drop at Can Umantad Falls and into a large basin below.

Swimming under the flow of water to receive a natural head and neck massage is an awesome experience to have at Can-umantad Falls Candijay.

The water is quite shallow on the edges of the catch basin but it becomes deeper the closer you get to the falls.

There are plenty of seating areas around the base of the falls which is a perfect spot to chill out and marvel at this natural attraction.

KINAHUGAN FALLS

Next on this list of waterfalls in Bohol is Kinahugan Falls which is one of the most off-the-beaten-path waterfalls on the island.

Kinahugan Falls is located in Jagna in East Bohol. F rom Anda, it’s a 37km drive that takes approximately 50 minutes.

If you are staying in the main tourist area of Panglao, Kinahugan Falls is an 80km drive that takes approximately 2 hours.

The trek to Kinahugan Falls from the parking lot takes no more than five minutes down a narrow dirt trail that can be quite slippery so take your time through this section.

Surprisingly, there is no entrance fee at Kinahugan Falls.

When you reach the bottom of the trail it opens up to a flat plateau surrounded by coconut palms and a river runs down one side of the valley.

There are actually two sets of falls at Kinahugan Waterfall boasting mass volumes of water gushing down a rock face into the river below.

Kinahugan Falls isn’t an ideal spot for a swim as there is quite a lot of water moving around and it did look quite dangerous to be fair.

This location is purely for marveling at and enjoying the scenic jungle surroundings.

INGKUMHAN FALLS

Ingkumhan Falls is another one of the top-rated Bohol waterfalls and a must-see while you are exploring the island.

Cliff jumps and rope swings are just some of the reasons that make this tourist attraction a great place to visit!

Ingkumhan Waterfall is located in Dimiao. From Panglao, it is a 65km drive that takes around 1 hour to reach Ingkumhan Falls and the entrance fee is 20 pesos.

The main set of falls features a flow of water that stretches across a limestone rockface around 10 meters wide and approximately 8 meters tall.

The water fills a huge natural pool at the base of the falls that reminded me of blue Gatorade which I was almost tempted to drink.

There is a rope swing that can be used about halfway up the falls, so you will have to climb up the rock face to reach it.

Surprisingly the surface of the rock isn’t that slippery, and the depth of the pool is around 3 to 4 meters deep so you won’t need to worry about hitting the bottom when you swing.

There is also a 5-meter cliff jump that can be found on the left-hand side of the falls which is a lot of fun!

Plenty of seating areas and sheltered huts can be found around the edges of the falls where you can hang out and enjoy the serenity.

I visited Ingkumhan Falls Bohol on a Sunday, and it was very busy with locals and other tourists. Try and time your visit for a weekday if you want to enjoy this waterfall without the crowds.

DIMIAO TWIN FALLS

Dimiao Twin Falls, also known as Pahangog Falls, is my favorite waterfall in Bohol!

Its Gatorade rock pools and jungle surrounds are irresistibly inviting and I highly recommend adding this epic spot to your list of things to do.

Dimiao Twin Falls is located in Dimiao. From Panglao, it is a 60km drive that takes around 1.5 hours to reach Twin Falls and the entrance fee is 20 pesos.

Once you arrive at the jump-off point, follow the rocky trail which then leads to a steep set of concrete stairs with handrails to get down to the falls.

It is an easy to moderate hike that takes no more than 10 minutes to reach the bottom.

When my friends and I reached the bottom of the stairs, Dimiao Falls revealed itself and we were in complete awe of how stunning this place is.

Before passing over the bamboo bridge to get to the falls, we had to pay the small entrance fee of 20 pesos to the Filipino woman working ticket office.

She didn’t speak much but she was happy to receive our money to come and enjoy the falls.

Dimiao Falls is a twin set of falls that are around 25 meters tall, flowing down a limestone rock face and filling a large catch basin below.

The turquoise natural-made swimming pool is deep enough in some areas to do some rock jumping but be sure to do a depth check first.

One of the best things to do at Dimiao Twin Falls is to grab a rubber ring for 20 pesos and float around the rock pools.

You can even swim up underneath the falls for a free head massage. In between the two sets of falls are a small sandy islet and a cave that you can also explore.

Mag Aso Falls is one of the best waterfalls in Bohol – a natural treasure and an adventure not to be missed.

Gatorade pools and epic cliff jumps are just some of the reasons why you should add Mag Aso Falls to your list of waterfalls to visit.

Mag Aso Falls is located in the town of Antequera. To reach Mag Aso Falls it’s approximately 30 minutes drive from Tagbilaran City or a 1-hour drive from Panglao.

The Mag Aso Falls entrance fee is 20 pesos and an additional 15 pesos for parking.

There are 197 concrete steps with metal handrails leading down to the falls and it is an easy 5 to 10-minute hike to reach the bottom.

Halfway down to the falls, there is a viewpoint that overlooks the waterfall which makes for a great photo opportunity.

Mag Aso Falls is an 8-meter waterfall that is surrounded by a tropical backdrop of tall trees and wild plants.

Carved out under the waterfall is a natural pool that is particularly inviting to go for a swim due to its milky blue-colored water derived from the limestone rocks in the area.

You can swim over to the falls from the outer edges and climb up into the natural jacuzzi pool to experience a head massage under the falls.

CAMUGAO FALLS

Camugao Falls is another one of the best waterfalls in Bohol.

Although it’s not quite as popular as Can-umantad Falls, it’s equally as impressive with its sheer size and irresistible rock pools!

Camugao Falls can be found in Balilihan. From Panglao, it’s a 42km drive that takes around 1 hour to reach Camugao Falls.

The entrance fee is  25 pesos and an  additional  20 pesos  must be paid for parking also.

It’s no more than a 10 to 15-minute hike to reach the bottom of the cliffs and to where the jungle trail emerges at the base of the falls.

The water inside the catch basin is that classic vibrant blue color that the Philippines is famous for and it’s the perfect place to go for a refreshing dip to cool off.

Camugao Falls is surrounded by a t owering curved cliff face that makes you feel as though you’ve just stepped inside an enormous amphitheater.

To add to the ambiance, lush green plants and vines surround the canyon.

A number of huts and rest areas can be found around the edge of the swimming hole beneath the falls where you can perch up and marvel at the beautiful surroundings.

There are no food and drink options at Camugao Falls so it’s best to pack your own snacks and drinking water if you plan to spend some time at this location.

KAWASAN FALLS BOHOL

Kawasan Falls Bohol is still yet to make a name for itself as one of the must-visit waterfalls.

I stumbled across Kawasan Falls as I was heading from Camugao Falls to Mag Aso Falls as they are all relatively in the same area.

Kawasan Falls is located in the town of Antequera. To reach Kawasan Falls Bohol it’s approximately 30 minutes drive from Tagbilaran City or a 1-hour drive from Panglao and there is a small entrance fee of 20 pesos.

It’s not an outrageous waterfall with a heavy flow of water but it’s the jungle surrounding it and the nearby Abatan River that makes this place so tranquil.

You can enjoy a nice walk through the forest along a jungle trail down to the Abatan River where you can find a few sheltered huts on stilts. A perfect spot to have a picnic with your friends!

Once you have checked out the river, continue on the trail for a few minutes to reach Kawasan Falls.

A trickle of water flows down a tall rock face from the rice terraces on top of the hill and into a small lagoon at the base of the falls.

The catch basin is quite shallow and a great spot for a swim to cool off.

Dimiao's San Nicholas Church is one of the oldest stone churches of Bohol identified by its two twin bell towers at both sides of the church’s front façade. Way in front of the church building is a tower with the image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus where the “hugos” is done during dawn rites of Easter Sunday.

St. Nicholas is also the town’s patron saint whose feast day is celebrated on every 10th of September. Across the church and across the circumferential road lies the town’s municipal hall which looks elegant with its white painted walls and red roof; a typical Spanish-designed building with prominent arched windows.

Fronting the Sacred Heart tower is a monument dedicated to the Philippines’ national hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal whose statue stands on top of a stone pillar. The monument leads to the municipal hall although facing its side rather than the front view of the building.

Dimiao is considered a 5th class municipality in the province of Bohol occupying a land area of 7,713 hectares. Established in 1780, the towns of Lila and Valencia were once part of the municipality and were separated from it due to increase in population. Lila was made an independent municipality on January 1, 1915.

Population is of 14,187 people according to the 2007 census; a far cry from its recorded population of 8,820 in 1897. It is politically subdivided into 35 barangays, to wit: Abihid, Alemania, Baguhan, Bakilid, Balbalan, Banban, Bauhugan, Bilisan, Cabagakian, Cabanbanan, Cadap-agan, Cambacol, Cambayaon, Canhayupon, Canlambong, Casingan, Catugasan, Datag, Guindaguitan, Guingoyuran, Ile, Lapsaon, Limokon Ilaod, Limokon Ilaya, Luyo, Malijao, Oac, Pagsa, Pangihawan, Sawang, Puangyuta, Tangohay, Taongon Cabatuan, Tawid Bitaog and Taongon Can-andam.

The people of Dimiao lives on farming, tuba gathering, rope making and fishing since it is located along the coast. Rice, corn, maguey, copra, rope and tuba are their most important products.

Situated along the coast, the town of Dimiao boasts of beaches with fine white sand. At Barangay Luyo is the well-loved Imelda Beach. On clear and sunny days, the Camiguin Island with the silhouette of Mt. Hibok-Hibok rising towards the clouds can be seen.

To know more about Dimiao Attractions and their own stories... Aside from the Imelda Beach Resort, the townsfolk boast of their century old church and convent and other attractions: the Soldier’s Cap and the Imelda Ruins at Barangay Sawang. The barangay of Tangohay are proud of their sanctuary and beautiful St. Joseph Chapel.

BOHOL TOURIST SPOTS & THINGS TO DO

Bohol is known for a handful of unique tourist spots only found on this island in the Philippines.

The famous Chocolate Hills and Tarsier Sanctuary are 2 of the best places to visit in Bohol. Many tourists will include these tourist attractions in a 2 or 3 day Bohol itinerary.

Although that is perfectly fine, Bohol offers a bit of everything and loads of interesting tourist spots worth adding to your Bohol itinerary.

We spent 10 days in Bohol and after visiting the famous tourist attractions, we explored lesser-known activities in Bohol.

Some of Bohol’s best attractions are the stunning waterfalls plunging into vibrant blue pools in the jungle. Or the rice terraces in the Candijay region, and the sun rising over rice fields and a sea of clouds in Danao.

HOW TO GET TO BOHOL

Searching for ways to reach Bohol? The process is straightforward and you can get to Bohol with ferries or fast crafts from some of the most interesting islands in South Philippines. Click here for a detailed guide.

WHERE TO STAY IN BOHOL

Bohol’s main tourist area is in Panglao in the South-West part of the island. Panglao is where most tourist will stay however there are a few alternatives like Tagbilaran City and a seaside village named Anda in East Bohol.

TOURIST SPOTS AND THINGS TO DO IN BOHOL

Mag-aso falls.

I thought I should start the list of best things to do in Bohol from a waterfall that should be somewhere at the top of a Bohol itinerary.

In Bohol’s Antequera region and about 1-hour drive from Panglao, there is Mag-Aso Falls. Mag-Aso is a cascade and huge waterhole with vibrant blue water enclosed in the jungle of Bohol.

There is a parking area at the jumping-off point to Mag-Aso Falls. And a 10-minute hike down a paved path and stairs through tropical trees and fauna leads to the pool and cascade.

We came early to Mag-Aso Falls and as we were walking along the concrete path, we didn’t really know what to expect. At some point the path opens up onto a terrace over a huge vibrant blue pool enclosed in jungle and a cascade at the end.

CAMUGAO FALLS

Camugao Falls is a cascade in the same area as Mag-Aso Falls. You can easily combine these 2 waterfalls together and it will only take 25 minutes to cruise from one cascade to the other.

On our way back from Mag-Aso Falls we decided to check out Camugao Falls. There isn’t really much online information for this tourist spot and at the time it wasn’t even listed on Google.Maps.

When you arrive at Camugao Falls you can park in the parking area and there is trail down to the foot of the cascade. On your way down there is a ticket booth where you will need to pay a small fee. From this point it takes about 15 to hike down to the cascade. It is a relatively easy hike and in some rough parts there are railing you can hold on to.

Camugao is a huge cascade but it wasn’t until we started hiking that we could see the cascade through some openings in the trees. It is a pleasant hike through a field and along trees leading into a valley.

When you have hikes down, at some point the valley opens up onto towering cliffs and a blue pool with a tall cascade pouring in from above.

There are a few tables placed around pool which you can rent if you intend to spend some time. But the best thing to do is to take a plunge into the pool and maybe cliff jump off the boulders around the water.

CADAPDAPAN RICE TERRACES

In East Bohol and about 2 hours ride from the popular tourist area in Panglao, there are the Cadapdapan Rice Terraces and boast one of the best yet underrated tourist spots on the island.

The verdant rice terraces are carved out of a mountain in the Candijay region that is still gaining popularity.

We rode our scooter from Panglao to the Candijay region. Instead of riding the 2 hour ride back to Panglao, we spent the night in Anda. Anda is the main tourist area in East Bohol.

CAN-UMANTAD FALLS

On the other end of the Cadpadapan Rice Terraces, there is Can-Umantad falls. There are many waterfalls in Bohol however, nothing comes close to this towering cascade

Can-Umantad is the highest waterfall on the entire island of Bohol. It is in the same region as the Cadapdapan Rice Terraces and will make for a great addition to your tourist spots in East Bohol.

These two tourist attractions are very close and in fact Can-Umantad is fed by streams making their way along the mountains and rice fields. It took us 10 minute to ride from 1 attraction to the other.

Or an alternative is to start off from the Rice Terraces and you can hike down the cliff to Can-Umantad. We only found out about this trail later on so can’t really say what to expect.

CHOCOLATE HILLS

Bohol’s Chocolate Hills are one of the most popular tourist spots in all the Philippines. It is an epic view of a landscape entirely covered with a cluster of dome shaped hills. For some reason only grass grows above the hills which is what gives these hills an interesting appeal.

From Panglao island to the Chocolate Hills a 1.5 hour ride will take you through the busy streets of Tagbilaran City and along Bohol’s countryside. We rode our scooter before the sun came up and reached the viewpoint for sunrise. The ride is mostly through the countryside and along rivers and rice fields. On the way the route heads through Bilar’s Mahogany Forest. It is no doubt an interesting ride.

At a certain point, there is a street covered with rice fields on either side. This is when the Chocolate Hills seem to pop out one after the other.

The main viewpoint is above a hill somewhere in the middle of this stunning landscape. The view is rather impressive as you can see hundreds of the dome hills pointing out.

PHILIPPINES TARSIER SANCTUARY

There are different species of Tarsiers and mainly they are found in Asia. And as it turns out, the Philippines tarsier is the smallest of all. And one of Bohol’s main tourist attractions is “The Philippines Tarsier Sanctuary” in the Corella. There are other sanctuaries on Bohol but not all are ethical unfortunately.

The Philippines Tarsier Sanctuary In Corella is a safe have for these Primates. It is located in the middle of Bohol’s countryside and jungle landscapes. There the tarsiers can roam freely in a their natural habitat.

Visiting the sanctuary is with a guide which will be provided on entrance.

We went to the sanctuary on a rainy day while riding back to Panglao from Anda. A guide was assigned to us and we were placed in a group of 6.

There is a small part of the Sanctuary open for visitors. This is where they mate the tarsiers or keep tarsiers needing treatment.

We followed our guide along the paths in the jungle environment. The tarsiers are so tiny that even when our guide spotted one out for us, it took us some time to actually see it. But that one was high above the trees. But we were lucky enough to spot 2 that were close enough to photograph.

It takes about 15 minutes to walk around the sanctuary. And keep in mind to keep quite and turn off your camera flash. Tarsiers are delicate creatures that are easily frightened with load noises which can cause a heart attack.

PAHANGOG FALLS

Pahangog Falls is in the Dimiao region in the South of Bohol. It is a twin waterfall and a pool with that vibrant blue colour synonymous to the Philippines.

The route to Pahangog is amazing. You will travel along Bohol’s South Coast and when you arrive in Dimiao town the journey heads up into the highlands. From Panglao it should take about 1 hour 20 minutes to get there.

Eventually, the paved road will get narrow until it turns into a dirt path through the jungle. Don’t worry, the dirt road is smooth to drive on and is the official route. At the end of the road is the parking area.

We parked our scooter and headed down a trail in the direction of a sign. The path isn’t paved but there is some bamboo railing just in case you need. It took us about 10 minutes to hike down and there was even a mountain goat nibbling on the grass.

Pahangog waterfall isn’t visible at any point on the way down. Everything suddenly comes at the very end of the trail. And it is no doubt a stunning sight!

There is bridge crossing over and blue pool with cascades at the end and tropical vegetation along cliffs above. We ended up spending over an hour swimming in the pool and up to the cascade.

INGKUMHAN FALLS

On our trip to Pahangog Falls we included another waterfall. But this time it was one of Bohol’s new tourist attractions that isn’t listed on many of the day tours.

Imagine Ingkumhan Falls like a natural water park hidden in the jungle of Bohol. There is a Tarzan swing hanging over a cascade and different levels of cliff jumps. At Ingkumhan Falls you can also jump out of a tree over the cliffs. I don’t know if this is safe, but the locals seemed quite confident.

If you made the journey to Pahangog Falls, then you should definitely add Ingkumhan Falls in your daily itinerary. It is an easy 10 minute ride from one fall to the other.

Keep in mind that Ingkumhan Falls is a relatively new tourist spot in Bohol. And although the waterfall is listed on Google.Maps the location isn’t completely correct. You will need to look for the signs indicating the way once you get close.

BOHOL SEA OF CLOUDS

On the entire island of Bohol there probably isn’t any other view better than the Sea of Clouds – aka Mt. Puntaas.

Bohol Sea of Clouds is a lookout and viewpoint in the Danao region. The exact point is on a peak known as Mt.Puntaas in central Bohol.

It is a 2 hour trip from Panglao to the Sea of Clouds views and we did the whole journey on our scooter and in the dark before the sun came up. Although we did most of the journey along pitch black streets only guided by the light on our bike, I would say in the end it was worth the effort and maybe the risk.

As the name suggests, the view is literally over the clouds. In fact, as we cruised into the highlands we passed through thick fog which was probably the clouds. The visibility was so low we had to slow down until we reached higher grounds.

On the highest point there is a shape bend onto a bumpy dirt road. It is only for about 100 meters and then there is a small parking area and a further 100 meters to the peak.

Bohol Sea of Clouds is truly one of the best viewpoints on the island. The view look down into rice terraces carved into a valley and over the mountain ridges with a backdrop a clouds and peaks poking out.

We came here early morning for sunrise. If you come during the day, I’m not sure what the view will be like or if the clouds eventually clear up. I guess this isn’t something anyone can really predict.

This post is about my favorite Bohol tourist spots! I am blessed enough to visit the Philippines every Christmas and New Year’s. I go back to spend time with my family who lives there. Each time I visit, we try to top the previous year’s holiday vacation excursions as a family. 

This year was the trip of a lifetime and we were able to explore Bohol. Bohol is known more than just for the Chocolate Hills and here I mention the highlights of my favorite Bohol tourist spots. The Tarsier Sanctuary was a very interesting exhibit to explore. The Tarsiers are part of the primate family and are the smallest primates in the world. Unfortunately, the Tarsier is on the endangered species list and is protected in these sanctuaries. This land has been set aside as a protected area for Philippine Tarsier. These primates are very small in size at about 3-6 inches in length and only weigh up to 2.8 – 5.6 oz.

Tarsiers are nocturnal animals and are known to commit suicide when scared by loud sounds and noises. Please be sure to respect these little guys and understand this in order to keep them protected.

This is for the romantics out there – one of the best Bohol tourist spots. I mean it is perfect for the single ladies and gentlemen, however, it definitely provides a romantic charm with music performed by a live guitarist, performances from dancers, and dinner on the Loboc River. The wait, however, can be a bit overwhelming with hot and humid temperatures in the Philippines, but it is a cute small cruise ending with a small waterfall.

Chocolate Hills – The most popular tourist spot in Bohol

Chocolate Hills, what can I saw about Mother Nature’s creativity. The Chocolate Hills was an interesting view with about 200+ steps to the top (it used to be 214 to represent Valentine’s Day and the romantic couples, but due to an Earthquake, the steps were rebuilt), it was a breath of fresh air.

This was a unique experience and you won’t be able to find this anywhere else in the world. The chocolate hills formed a long time ago from coral deposits. The rain way and erosion then created the hills. The Chocolate Hills were green when I visited, however during their dry season, the Hills are typically brown in color hence the title Chocolate Hills.

The Chocolate Hills are a UNESCO site and clearly, there is a reason why. This will be the highlight of your places to visit in Bohol with its unique and breathtaking views.

Hanging Bridge – Bohol’s well known Tourist Spots

The hanging bridge is exactly what it sounds like. The original hanging bridge is made of complete bamboo, which this bridge is still mostly made of making it difficult for those afraid of heights. They have reinforced this bridge with heavy-duty metal cables. This is probably one of the popular things to do in Bohol.

This is a beautiful place to visit and a great place to cool down. In this cave is a pool where you can dive down and swim deep into the waters. You can enjoy the beautiful natural aspects of this cave and the cool refreshing freshwater. This cave was accidentally found by a farmer in the Philippines.

Mahogany Bohol Man-Made Forest – Bohol’s Favorite Tourist Spots

Now, to some of us, this Mahogany Man-Made Forest may be quite a common sight.  However, to see this growing in the Philippines is a rare sight. It was beautiful to take pictures next to and stare up at along our drive. The road can be quite empty since we were able to get some amazing photos.

We loved how beautiful the road was and it didn’t even feel like you were in the Philippines. It is the perfect Instagram spot making it a popular tourist spot in Bohol. If you don’t know much about Asian culture, many of the to-do things in these countries involve places where you can take photos.

Butterfly Gardens are pretty amazing to visit in the Philippines. They often show the cycle of the butterfly along with being able to hold and experience the butterflies around you.

If you love shells, this is a pretty cool exhibit to look at all the types of shells they have in the Philippines. This museum has all types of shells from large to small and some with much detail.

This was a monumental site for the History of the Philippines, a blood compact between Europe and Asia as a form of friendship and alliance.

There are so many beaches that are absolutely beautiful and stunning in the Philippines. Bohol has some of the best beaches that the Philippines has to offer. Many of the beaches in the Philippines are not as packed as the ones I have seen in Europe and the US. If you came to the Philippines, I’m sure one of the reasons you did so was to have a relaxing vacation.

Visiting some of the most popular beaches in Bohol will definitely give you that relaxing feeling and they are perfect to go snorkeling in. The Bohol Bee Farm

The Bohol Bee Farm is one of the famous Bohol tourist spots. This little bee farm provides tours from the production line to the final product. They sell products like honey spread, flavored honey (must try the spicy honey if you like spicy things), homemade ice cream from the BUZZZ with unique flavors, mats, chapstick and so much more made from the products they make in house from the Bee Farm. This is also a great place to grab lunch if you happen to be hungry.

The Philippines is known for its Spanish influence often include many churches as historical sites to explore. This church was founded in 1596 which is a miracle to be seeing it still standing up today.

It was nominated to become a UNESCO site, however, due to damages from a storm several years ago, it was removed from its nomination. It, however, is still a pretty location to visit especially if you are interested in historical monuments.

One of the most famous Bohol tourist spots would be the chocolate hills. It’s a natural Bohol tourist attraction that looks different than anything else in the world. It’s a beautiful place to visit and although there are a lot of steps to get to the top, the view is worth it. It’s what Bohol is most known for, but there are a ton more attractions there worth checking out as well.

Well, I’ve listed the top 22 Bohol tourist spots, but there are many more depending on the types of things you like to do. These are the best and most visited and should be on your list of places to visit in Bohol.

Bohol is most famous for the Chocolate hills, The dinner cruise on the Loboc river, tarsiers – the world’s smallest primate, the bee farm, the man made forest , and the hanging bridge.

What would be the best for a day trip in Bohol?

The best would best to do most of what I listed above, however, if you are short on time I would suggest the Chocolate hills, the dinner cruise on the Loboc river, and the Tarsier Sanctuary. These are the top three Bohol tourist spots you should include for a day trip in Bohol and everything else can be added.

As much as I would love to say it’s Bohol, unfortunately, it is not. It is Boracay, mostly because of its party destination and its beautiful beaches. The second would probably be Palawan and then many Bohol.

Many Filipinos who live abroad travel back to the Philippines for the holidays and celebrate the holy week and spend time with family. The worst would be during April when it’s the hottest.

How to get to Bohol

There are a couple of ways to get to Bohol. You can fly domestically into Bohol from Cebu or Manila. That would be the easiest way. However, if you are already in Cebu, you can take a ferry boat to Bohol which would probably be a cheaper cost. Once you get on the island you can hire a taxi driver to take you anywhere around the island or you can rent a motorbike or car and drive around the island yourself.

How to get around the Island of Bohol

So there are a few ways to travel around the island. To get around the island, you can take the following forms of transportation.

My favorite way and the best way to travel around the island for me personally is by hiring a taxi driver. The taxi driver will usually know all the shortcuts, ways to avoid traffic, and know all the best spots to eat, visit and explore. They have done these tours a million times and you can control how much time you want to spend at each location. Additionally, all your stuff is safe in the ar and you don’t have to keep lugging your personal belongings all day, for example, a wet swimsuit you might not be wearing the rest of the day. Taxis are also very affordable to hire and if you are traveling with a lot of people it’s a great option. Book a private driver here. 

If you feel comfortable enough, you can easily rent a motorbike. However, I do say this with precaution and make sure you have insurance . Traveling by motorbike can be dangerous in the Philippines with many drivers without a license or insurance . Additionally, you will be exposed to all the elements of the weather from rain to hot and humid.

Trikes are the other popular form of transportation on the island. A Trike or Tricycle is a motorbike that had a sidecar attached to it. You can fit about 2-3 people comfortably but many trike drivers are known to fit up to 5-7 people at a time. You can hire a trike driver for the day or just pay as you go and find them to take you from place to place as you travel around. They are easy to find and will take you to your destination easily.

1. Chocolate Hills

Every province in the Philippines has its own distinct natural tourist spots linked to its names. Here in Bohol, the Chocolate Hills claims the top among the famous Bohol tourist spots.

A trip to Bohol province isn’t complete without visiting the Chocolate Hills, they say. True to that, the Php.200 bill features the Chocolate Hills, including the Bohol province flag and seal.

The 1000 plus unique geological formations spread across Carmen town on a vast 50-square kilometer land.

The hills turn lushed green during the wet season when foliage dominates the surface. On the contrary, the dry season turns the mini-mountains into a browny shade, hence its name. The famous Hershey’s Kisses chocolate is often associated with the magnificent Bohol attraction as well.

There are many parks and recreational areas best to enjoy the view of the Chocolate Hills. The most popular one is the viewing deck, wherein you need to climb a stair first. Afterward, the rewarding magnificent view of the Chocolate hills awaits every tourist.

Tourists may visit the Chocolate hills in both seasons. Ideally, it is best to see during the early morning to avoid the crowd during the peak seasons.

While there are urban legends about its origin, the Chocolate Hills were formed many years ago from the uplift of coral deposits and the weathering of the surface, creating today’s Chocolate Hills.

2. Learn about the Tarsiers

Aside from the Chocolate Hills, Bohol is also known for the tiny and cute primates with large round eyes called the Tarsiers.

Tarsiers grow up to 15 centimeters when reaching adulthood. They may be one of the cutest but are extremely sensitive to sound. Tarsiers are also nocturnal and among the favorite prey of snakes and eagles in the wild.

Endemic to the Philippines, Bohol is known for its conservation efforts for the tiny primates from their decrease in population.

The Tarsier Conservation Area in Loboc is one reserve area to observe Tarsiers up close to their habitat. With a minimal entrance fee, guests can experience watching the little monkey clinging on the stems thru a short walk.

With their petite size, first-timers may overlook them, but worry not because the helpful guides can easily spot them for you. Remember to follow and adhere to the conservation area’s rules and guidelines, as these are very delicate.

You can still take some photos, though, without the flash. It’s like visiting them during their sleep, so give it a shot to photograph when you spot one with eyes open.

Corella town also has its Tarsier Sanctuary with the same efforts to conserve Tarsiers to their natural habitat. Make sure also to include this in your Bohol tourist spots itinerary for a complete experience in Bohol.

3. Panglao Island Beaches

One of the more exciting things to do in Bohol is lounging on the beach, if not the best. In Panglao, the island itself is a paradise enriched with beautiful beaches in almost every corner.

Panglao drives a significant cut to the tourism industry of Bohol province. The newly opened Bohol-Panglao International Airport here, which opened last 2018, plays a vital role.

Many of the best hotels and resorts are lining close to the coast of Panglao Island. At the same time, tourists enjoy the perks of staying near the beaches, other recreational and interesting Bohol tourist spots lined up down to the line.

We’ve narrowed down the best three beaches to check out on your Bohol trip.

Alona beach

Alona Beach is one of the crowd magnets in Panglao. Since most of the upscale hotels, resorts, bars, and restaurants populate Alona beach, it is no wonder it attracts most tourists.

Like Boracay, Alona beach features a long stretch of fine white sand coastline and crystal-clear water. The area is one of the ideal places to enjoy the comfort of hospitality, top-rated amenities, and the mix of the crowd.

Aside from lounging on the sands during happy hour, there are many fun and thrilling activities to try. You can go snorkel, ride a parasail, or scream over a banana boat ride.

Dumaluan Beach

Dumaluan Beach is your best alternative to Alona beach if you prefer a less crowded space. Apart from that, you can score a cheaper hotel accommodation as well.

Like Alona, Dumaluan beach also has its fair share of white sand beaches and refreshing clear waters.

Tourists who want to enjoy the solitude with a fantastic sea view can opt for Dumaluan beach. You can beach-bum on the side and work on your tan lines without many distractions.

4. Hinagdanan Cave

Besides the many beaches to soak up in Bohol, a unique experience awaits every adventurous soul in the Hinagdanan Cave.

The Hinagdanan Cave is a small cavern featuring a deep basin of clear waters with a fantastic view of rock formations. The inviting and refreshing waters of the cave may reach from 3 to 4 meters, depending on the tide.

The challenging part of visiting Hinagdanan Cave is the access itself. Only one person can descend on the steep stairs and trails, while railings act as a guide. Make sure to wear proper footwear, especially when those times that it gets slippery.

The cave is spacious enough but not as significant to accommodate many tourists at the same time. Light passes through the tiny entrance when the sun is up, illuminating the whole cave, giving off a magical experience underneath.

According to locals, a farmer accidentally discovered the cave and built a ladder to access the cave. Hinagdanan means laddered, hence its name.

They even utilize the place as a shelter also during the second world war. Hinagdanan Cave is one of the recommended Bohol tourist spots for thrill-seekers and adventurous ones.

5. Bohol Island Hopping Tours

One of the productive ways to explore the marine biodiversity of Bohol is by joining island hopping tours in Panglao Island.

With many establishments on-site and online, you’ll never run out of choices. It is not a question of where to book but to whom you’ll be booking with your island hopping tour.

The three main destinations of a typical Bohol island hopping tour are Pamilacan Island, Balicasag Island, and Virgin Island.

Pamilacan Island

Pamilacan Island is the usual first stop of island hopping tours. This island is known as the ideal place to go on a dolphin-watching or whale-watching activity.

Remember to get up early, though, because the ideal time to watch out for these lovely marine mammals is early in the morning.

Apart from dolphin-watching, Pamilacan Island is an excellent spot to do snorkeling and diving as well.

You can also lounge on the white sands here and visit the small local stores for some refreshments.

Pamilacan is the farthest among the three islands but closer to the vast Bohol sea. With this, chances are higher to spot these cute and intelligent animals.

Balicasag Island

Balicasag Island usually comes next to the three islands. Many consider the island as one of the prime Bohol tourist spots destinations for observing the marine ecosystem. The island is true for its marine sanctuary.

While white sand beaches embrace the whole island itself, a more extraordinary adventure awaits every tourist under the water.

Snorkeling keeps you busy most of the time when in Balicasag. The shallow coast surrounding most of the island offers the perfect opportunity to observe the marine animals, even if you’re no swimmer.

Apart from the colorful reefs and schools of fish, you can also have a greater chance to spot some green sea turtles.

Besides, the experienced divers have the opportunity to explore more on the depths around Balicasag marine sanctuary.

After a few hours of underwater activities, you can also lounge along the white sands or explore the local village.

Virgin Island

Virgin Island saves the last for one of the best Bohol tourist spots. Like the  White Island in Camiguin  and  Bonbon Beach in Romblon , Virgin Island also features a sandbar.

Also called Pontod or Puntod Island, this is the closest to Panglao Island among the three.

The size of the sandbar is relatively tiny and comes unique with its crescent shape during the low tide. You can wander around the island for 10 minutes or so while playing or stroll at every edge.

Unwind with the calm and relaxing view of Virgin Island and capture amazing photos. Besides, vendors on the boats sell refreshments and fresh seafood, so you get to refuel from your busy day of island hopping in Panglao.

Make sure to check ahead of the tide forecast if you want to enjoy the best view of the sandbar.

6. Saint Augustine Church in Panglao

One of the most significant influences of Spanish colonialism in the Philippines is the introduction of Christianity.

In Panglao Island, the church before the establishment of Saint Augustine Church traces back to the mid-1760s by the Jesuits. Today, the present church still stands the test of time from its early construction in 1894, where completion took place in 1925.

The Sint Augustine Church is one of the oldest religious sites you can visit when touring the island of Panglao.

The church features a neo-classical facade and is noteworthy for its ceiling murals depicting the sacraments. The three altars are also beautifully adorned with intricate carvings. The ceiling above the main altar has a mural of the Holy Trinity, surrounded by divisions of eight angles.

Another treasure of the Saint Augustine Church is its antique twin confessionals made of wood with carved patterns of grapevines, flowers, and doves.

Roaming outside the church, you can spot an old watchtower. Not far from the church is also a small port where you can find a lovely space to view sunsets.

7. Loboc River Cruise

A river cruise at Loboc is one of the best ways to take a break from your beach escapades in Bohol.

Book a river cruise in Loboc and witness the natural beauty of the Loboc river under the comfort of a large floating restaurant.

Your tour runs down the stretch of the Loboc river while enjoying a Filipino buffet lunch, right in the middle of the forest. In addition, the cheerful performers will serenade and dance to the beat of traditional dances, which is also a highlight of the tour.

Look around and pause in awe of its emerald waters, where towering trees line along both sides. It’s genuinely one of the perfect sights to share and cherish on your Bohol tour.

When wanting to do it the DIY way, you can experience it at your own pace as well. You can look and ask for locals offering boat rentals and tour the river with less crowd.

The river’s end is a small waterfall where you can take a quick dip or play around, get wet, and have fun under the sun.

Loboc river has its magical charm thanks to the local government’s efforts to preserve the natural state of such a tourist spot in Bohol.

8. Baclayon Church

Tourists who love visiting historic churches should not miss stopping by at Baclayon Church in Bohol. The oldest Christian settlement in Bohol, the original church, finished its completion in 1737 and traces back to its founding in 1596.

Baclayon church is officially known as The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary Parish Church and a National Cultural Treasure recipient.

Baclayon church follows a crucifix form and faces the sea. In addition, there is a massive watchtower next to the church, acting as a bell tower as well.

Going inside, you’ll be amazed by its intricate high ceiling adorned with paintings. Large arcs welcome visitors and churchgoers. The three altars are also an inevitable look.

In 2013, a destructive earthquake jolted Bohol province, and the church was no exemption from damages. However, restoration initially started in the same year, and completion ended in 2017.

Visit Baclayon Church during your Bohol tourist spots adventure and spend some meditation and reflection. After that, you can also visit their museum, where you can gaze at religious relics and historical artifacts.

9. Blood Compact Shrine Monument

Learn a brief history when you stop by at Blood Compact Shrine in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

The Shrine depicts a life-sized statue of five men around a table proposing a toast sign of a treaty. The symbolic agreement dates back to 1565 and signifies the alliance of Rajah Sikatuna of Bohol and the group of Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi.

Blood compact or Sandugo is an early Filipino ritual where a sample of blood from both parties cut from their wrist mixes with a liquid base like wine. Parties will then both drink the solution, symbolizing their seal of agreement.

The bronze statue is a work of art by National Artist Napoleon Abueva, a native of Bohol.

Visiting the Blood Compact Shrine not only shares a piece of history but also graces a beautiful sea view in the background.

This tourist spot in Bohol keeps its proximity to downtown Tagbilaran from a short 5-8 minutes ride.

10. Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge

You might think twice when you’re asked to cross a hanging bridge made from bamboo. Well, the Sipatan Twin Hanging Bridge in Loboc invites you to conquer your fear of heights, even though the bridge is made of bamboo.

Weaved bamboo straps cover its deck and braces, while the stability of the hanging bridge is supported with high-strength cable wires to ensure longevity and structural integrity.

Sipatan Twin Hanging bridge is one of the highlights of almost all Bohol tourist spots tours.

Since the hanging bridges span across the Loboc River, tourists can have a different perspective on the famous inland water body in Bohol. For the locals, the bridges serve as a quick route connecting two barangays in Loboc.

After crossing the bridges, you can find small stalls selling souvenir items for keep.

11. Bilar Man-made Forest

The successful reforestation of parts of Bohol has led to the rise of one of the famous Bohol tourist spots, the Bilar Man-made Forest.

You won’t miss the Bilar man-made forest when you’re visiting the Chocolate Hills in Carmen, since you have to pass by this forest. Bilar artificial forest covers a two-kilometer stretch of the provincial road between Loboc and Bilar.

Feel like you’re on a different dimension when you enter the tunnel of trees. The smooth pavement along the winding road makes an excellent trail to ride a motorcycle or bicycle.

The Bilar man-made forest offers an in-depth experience to enjoy nature’s gift of fresh and calm space, even for just a couple of minutes. Thanks to the towering trees, sunlight penetration is almost to none.

You can also stop by in the middle of the forest if you want to walk a little, take some souvenir photographs, or enjoy the chill vibe of being in the middle of a densely forested area.

The forest is also close to other frequented Bohol tourist spots like the Tarsier Conservation Area, Loboc River, and bamboo hanging bridges.

12. Pahangog Falls

Bohol is such a paradise when it comes to the abundance of tourist destinations. Aside from the pristine beaches, there are also mesmerizing waterfalls you can explore while touring the beautiful island of Bohol.

The Pahangog waterfall is one of the water cascades in Bohol that is both a local and tourist favorite.

Reaching the drop-off point takes one hour from Tagbilaran City, 45 minutes from downtown Loboc, and 25 minutes if you’re coming from Bilar town.

From the drop-off point, you’ll need to take a moderate hike down a hill for less than 15 minutes until reaching the bottom.

Pahangog falls have two cascades; that is why it is also called twin falls. Its drop reaches up to 25 meters, and the water directly flows into a sizeable hole basin.

Tourists can plunge into the turquoise waters, take a water massage directly under the waterfalls, or perform rock jumping.

The rich foliage surrounding the area keeps it cool as well, so it’s one of the ideal Bohol tourist spots to chill and enjoy nature at its best.

Small cottages are also available near the swimming area just when you need to take a break.

13. Anda Beach

Aside from the busy coastlines of Panglao Island, another beach destination one must not miss when visiting Bohol is the Anda beach.

Anda town lies on the Eastern side of Bohol and is more than a two-hour drive from Tagbilaran City along the circumferential road.

While Alona beach gathers all things fancy in Panglao, Anda beach is the right opposite.

Anda beach is more of a laidback, peaceful, and tranquil beach you could find in Bohol. While there are also private resorts and businesses along the Anda beach, the overall experience is simple.

The real deal in Anda beach is its 1.5 kilometers of powdery white sand coastline comparable to Boracay. The inviting crystal-clear water from the shallow coasts allows tourists and locals to play and swim to heart’s desire.

After swimming, you can find a good spot under the lined towering coconut trees to rest and observe the view in awe.

If you want to take a break from the busy crowd in Panglao, try visiting the Anda beach after your Chocolate Hills or Tarsier sanctuary tours.

14. Danao Adventure Park

Tourists who dare to seek thrills in Bohol can try riding some heart-pumping rides like bungee-jumping, zipline, wall-climbing, and rappelling.

Meanwhile, ATV rides will keep you on the move along the trails and hills in Danao Adventure Park. You can likewise see Danao from up high by riding the skybike.

The most exhilarating one to try in Danao is The Plunge. Prepare to scream out the fear and excitement as you drastically drop from the platform.

Danao town has one of the highest altitudes in Bohol province, and occasionally, a sea of clouds is visible before the sun rises.

15. Bohol Museum

Tagbilaran City is the center of commerce and government in Bohol province. When exploring the busy streets of the city, you may come across the Bohol Museum.

Formerly the Provincial Capitol Building, refurbishment of the building after the destructive 2013 earthquake in Bohol has given birth to the Bohol Museum.

Now, the Bohol Museum has fully transformed into massive spaces for different exhibitions.

One of the exciting subjects to see is the dedicated section about the province’s rehabilitation efforts of the damaged historic churches.

Another exhibit is the Pagpauli, a dedicated space for the works of the National Artist Napoleon Abueva.

On the other hand, a separate space commemorates the late President Carlos Garcia, where you can see his living room during his time. Portraits and relics are also on display, including some dresses worn by his wife.

Of all the improvements of the old building, the central courtyard offers an impressive ambiance with its high ceiling and skylight.

25 Best Things to Do in Bohol (the Philippines)

As the 10th largest island in the Philippines, you can imagine that there is a lot of ground to cover! In the center of the island, you’ll find the epicenter of nature fun with ziplining, waterfall climbing, cave exploring, and river cruising. South of the island you’ll get your fix of white sand beaches and cocktails with tiki straws. Also in the South, you’ll find the capitol city, Tagbilaran, which is filled with shopping malls, restaurants, bars, and guesthouses. You can also venture up north to mingle with locals who aren’t used to seeing tourists in their parts.

When you need a break from all of the thrill-seeking adventures, there is a lot of history to be learned on this island. Over the centuries there has been Spanish colonization, Japanese occupation and U.S. intervention- all of which you can see traces of every where you look.

1. Visit the Chocolate Hills

The Chocolate Hills are by far the most popular tourist attraction on Bohol Island and once you see it, it’s easy to understand why. Here lay hundreds of symmetrical green mountainous hills as far as the eye can see.

During the dry season, these hills take on a milk-chocolate color- hence “Chocolate Hills”. During the rainy season, they are lush and green.

Hire a motorbike taxi to take you and enjoy the winding roads with natural and cultural sights along the way.

2. Bohol Habitat Conservation Conservatory

Butterflies, spiders, centipedes, caterpillars, birds, and flowers- come witness a dense collection of natural beauty at the Bohol Habitat Conservation Conservatory.

Walk with a guide who will point out fauna indigenous to the island, persuade you to let bugs crawl on your arm, and take a few funny photos while you’re at it. Afterwards, stop by the restaurant and ice cream shop near the entrance to try some all-natural ice cream!

3. Bamboo Hanging Bridge

5. Tarsier Conservatory

Tarsiers- locally known as ‘mamag’- are an endangered species and would be close to extinction if it weren’t for the efforts of the Tarsier Conservatory in Bohol. Tarsiers are considered a “dependent” species meaning that they cannot thrive in the wild on their own. Every visit to the Tarsier Conservatory helps fund efforts and habitat to keep these cute little creatures alive.

When you visit the conservatory, you’ll see several of these little frog-fingers primates hanging out in the trees, sleeping under leaves and staring at you with their great big eyes. The tour only lasts 20 minutes because they don’t want to stress these Tarsiers out, but it’s totally worth it.

6. Take an unofficial cruise down Loboc River

On the way to the Chocolate Hills, you’ll drive along side a small river surrounded by pure jungle. Locals have built fishing huts and small vendor stations selling snacks. Some of these locals own small wooden boats and are happy to take you for a ride. You can ask your driver to help you arrange a deal.

Once on the small local boat, the cruise down the river is absolutely breathtaking with tall palm trees and undisturbed jungle. It feels like a scene out of the book, “Where the Wild Things Are”.

At the end of the river is a fresh-water waterfall. Hop in with your clothes if you’d like. You can splash around in the shallows or duck under the waterfall for a nice back massage.

7. Official Loboc River Cruise

If you’d like to float down the Loboc River in comfort, than join the organized cruise selling tickets at the shore. The boat resembles a large floating house with a thatched roof and large dining room.

You’ll cruise down the river looking at the sights while enjoying a buffet style lunch. There is a live band that plays a collection of songs from around the world to appeal to the assembly of international guests on board.

Towards the end of the trip, your boat will stop by a platform full of Filipina women and children dressed in traditional clothing, singing and dancing for you. You may join in on the festivities and of course, a donation is welcome.

8. Mahogany Forest

Rent a motorbike to experience the beauty that is the Mahogany Forest. The roads wind and bend making for a seriously fun ride. The roads are nicely paved and the traffic isn’t too heavy so even new riders can handle the journey.

Park your bike on the side of the road and meander up the hill to get a closer look at the massive roots that tangle together in the soil. With the sun peering through the trees and the fresh air surrounding you- you’ll get a feeling of what Bohol is all about.

9. Cathedral of San Jose

You’ll quickly notice and discover that religion is deeply rooted in the culture of Filipino people. The Cathedral of San Jose is one of the largest in Bohol’s big city and is the most frequented by locals throughout the week and on Sunday for mass. No matter your religion, it’s interesting to visit the Cathedral of San Jose and witness how locals worship. You might even stumble upon a wedding or a baptism.

Like many historic structures in the city, this cathedral still has walls made of coral stone. While there have been some renovations, including new paint on the walls and a makeover of the paintings on the cathedral’s dome ceiling, the church’s original integrity has been impressively kept in tact for centuries.

10. Baclayon Church

Baclayon Church, also known as “The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary Parish Church”, is the oldest Christian settlement in Bohol. Founded in 1596 and still standing, this Roman Catholic Church has been officially declared a ‘National Cultural Treasure’ that attracts thousands of tourists year round.

The church is a mysterious-looking building made from grey coral stone that has been weathered over the centuries. There are archways starting to crumble and pillars that have been eroded by the wind and typhoons as it sits next to the seaside. The 7.2 magnitude earthquake on Bohol in 2013 did some damage to the church but luckily left the museum unharmed. All in all, it makes for an interesting visit.

11. Blood Compact Monument

It will only take you five minutes to stop and gather the story that this bronze structure is here to tell. Set with the sea as the backdrop, the Blood Compact Monument features 5 soldiers gathered round a table making a toast. With a few drops of blood, a pact was made between Spanish General Miguez Lopez de Legazpi and the Native Filipino people who vowed to work together.

12. Cambuyo Rice Terraces

Rice terraces, with their sprawling flat plains and bright green colors, are a signature of Asia. In mucky plains of muddy water, farmers plant rice seeds that grow long green stems creating gorgeous landscapes. It isn’t that rice needs water to grow, but rather, the water ensures that the rice do not become compromised with fungus or disease.

In the Philippines, rice represents a huge source of sustenance and commerce with thousands of Filipinos working in rice fields day to day. Hop out of your vehicle on the side of the road to take it all in and you’ll surely see some farmers working away. Feel free to snap a few photos of the rice plains, just be respectful of the farmers.

13. Loboc Ecotourism Adventure Park

If you like heights, nature, and adrenaline, you’re going to love Loboc Ecotourism Adventure Park. Located near the Chocolate Hills, this adventure park offers a day full of fun. You can buy a package ticket that includes the official lunch cruise down the Loboc River but not before you fly through the jungle on your belly via a frightening, yet exhilarating zipline course.

This, however, is no standard zipline that simply plunges you through the trees at speeds too fast to enjoy the view. This zipline takes you over the jungle, the river and even gives you a view of the Chocolate Hills. This is definitely a GoPro-worthy adventure.

14. The Secret Waterfall

Do you remember the book/movie ‘The Beach’ where locals kept an incredibly gorgeous piece of paradise a secret? Well, there is the waterfall equivalent to that on Bohol.

A trek into the jungle will reveal the most beautiful natural waterfall and swimming hole that you have ever seen in your life. The water is a bright aquamarine color, the waterfall is at least 3 stories high and the water is the perfect temperature for swimming. You can jump off a tall cliff, slide down smooth rocks and hang out with a couple locals who may be surprised to see you.

There are no tours going here, so you’ll have to befriend a local and ask them to take you.

15. Dimiao Twin Waterfalls

Despite being named the “twin” waterfalls, there are actually 3 waterfalls in the vicinity. Take a van to Dimiao public market where you can wander around looking at crafts and snacks. Outside the market, you can find plenty of drivers waiting to take tourists like you to the waterfalls- it’s all standard business. The tour guides will drive you, trek with you, take your pictures, and bring you back to the market.

The waterfalls themselves are breathtakingly beautiful with turquoise water to swim in, heavy waterfalls to lie under, rocks to climb on, cliffs to jump off, and rafts to play on.

16. Hinagdanan Cave

Are you brave enough to swim in the deep dark waters of this bat cave? Don’t worry, there are no scary creatures swimming around to pull you under. This cave might look very creepy with spikey features hanging from the ceiling and bats flying all around, but it’s quite a fun experience.

There are a few holes in the ceiling of the cave that shine down on you like a Disney movie and make for the perfect photo opportunity. Make sure to go early in the morning before all the crowds of tourists show up!

17. Alona Blue Sailing Charters

Spend the day living like an Instagram model lounging on a yacht as it traverses the open seas. There will be chips & salsa, fresh mango, freshly squeezed orange juice, and of course, a full spread for lunch featuring some local Filipino specialties.

The mall is a bit old which gives it the kind of charm that you won’t find elsewhere.  Have fun perusing the 5 levels of bargain stores, getting a massage, watching a movie in the cinema, or if you’re lucky, you’ll be there on a day where a special event such as a live dance performance or live band is entertaining the crowd on the lower level.

22. Mosia Cupcakes and Cookie Shop

Got a sweet tooth? Let it loose at this gourmet cupcake and cookie shop in Tagbilaran! You’ll find every flavor cupcake you could ever want such as Salted Caramel, Snickers, Cookies and Cream and the super popular Classic Red Velvet. There are also mini-deserts to share like French Silk Pie and Banana Crème Pie, as will as whole cakes to take away or order by the slice.

I think you get the picture by now- this is a desert lover’s paradise! The dining area is quaint and comfy, perfect for getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city for an hour of chill.
