Karaoke is at its best when everyone’s having fun and dancing to the music. Journey ’s classic rock tracks have the ability to bring out that kind of energy in audiences of all kinds. If you want to choose some of the best Journey karaoke songs for your next performance, you’ve come to the right place!

I’ve been listening to Journey music since I was very young. I’ve also been performing karaoke songs for over ten years in various locations. As a result, I know which Journey songs are the best choices for different karaoke situations.

Keep reading to find out how to prepare for your next performance and to learn which Journey songs are best for your specific karaoke needs, whether you’re a singing pro or prepping for your first karaoke party.

Karaoke Tips

It’s always a good idea to be prepared for your karaoke gig, no matter how much experience you have. The following tips are some that I follow before and during every performance to make sure I have the best time possible:

  • Know your venue. If you are singing at a public bar, your song options may be very different than if you choose your songs from a YouTube app at home. You also want to make sure that you choose songs that are a good fit for you and your audience and won’t be too offensive or embarrassing to anyone.
  • Drink water. Staying hydrated is healthy and helps you to sing at your best! Keep a water bottle nearby while singing so you can easily take sips as you go.
  • Practice! Running through your songs once or twice before karaoke day comes can help you figure out any trouble spots in your chosen tracks. You may even realize that you made some bad choices and decide to change the songs altogether. It’s better to know now than when you’re on stage!
  • Sing songs you’re comfortable with. This goes along with the tip above. If a song just doesn’t work for you, don’t sing it! You may have to try something new to fit your skill level and vocal range. That’s okay, though—that just makes karaoke more fun and interesting!
  • Interact with the audience. You can’t do this until your performing, but if you have the confidence, interact with your audience as much as you can! Even a single act of eye contact can make you appear more confident and connected. You can sing in a mirror during your practice runs if you feel like you need to prepare to interact with the public.
  • Breathe! Proper breathing while singing is so important—for your performance, but also your well-being. While you’re practicing your songs, see if you can learn to breathe from your stomach to avoid gasping for air between lyrics. There are tons of free resources online that can help you learn breathing and singing techniques; utilize them if you want to get serious about your karaoke performance!

Now that you know how to give your best performance, let’s look at some Journey songs for your next karaoke gig! The choices below are sure to make you stand out from the crowd while entertaining yourself and your audience.

Sue Phillips was celebrated over the weekend as one of the legends of women’s basketball.

The Archbishop Mitty girls coach was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame alongside luminaries that included former players Maya Moore and Seimone Augustus during a ceremony in Knoxville, Tennessee, where the great Pat Summitt led the University of Tennessee to eight national titles.

“Thank you to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for this prestigious honor, and congratulations to my fellow inductees,” Phillips, who has coached the San Jose private school for 31 years, said during her introductory speech on Saturday night. “You are amazing women, and I am humbled and blessed to share the stage with you tonight.”

She continued by saying, “I stand before you today with a heart full of gratitude, humility and immense pride as I accept this incredible acknowledgement. This moment is not just a personal achievement, but a culmination of the dedication and support of countless individuals who have been instrumental in my journey.”

During her trip to Tennessee, Phillips posed for a photo in front of a statue of Summitt, with the caption a quote from the late coach that read, “Winning is fun… Sure. But winning is not the point. Wanting to win is the point. Not giving up is the point. Never letting up is the point. Never being satisfied with what you’ve done is the point.”

Winning might not be the point, but few coaches have piled up victories at the rate that Phillips has during her time at Mitty.

Phillips’ resume made her inclusion, which was attended by legendary UConn coach Geno Auriemma and four-time WNBA champion Cheryl Reeve, an easy decision.

She has 819 victories at Mitty, often developing future college players and even WNBA stars.

Phillips has led her alma mater to six state titles, 16 regional championships and 25 Central Coast Section crowns.

Her 2023-24 team was among her greatest, going 31-0 before falling to Etiwanda in the state Open title game.

“Thank you to Archbishop Mitty for taking a chance on me, an inexperienced math teacher, as a coach,” Phillips said. “Over three decades later, I’m just as eager and excited to teach young people and tip off another season for the Monarchs.”

Several of her assistant coaches, as well as former players, were in attendance on Saturday night.

Phillips has coached four McDonald’s All-Americans, the most-recent being UConn-bound Morgan Cheli. Two of her players, Danielle Robinson and Haley Jones have reached the WNBA.

“It has been a privilege to watch your growth, not just as athletes but as people,” Phillips said. “I am forever grateful to be a part of your lives. To my coaching staff, some of whom are here tonight, your guidance, wisdom, friendship and unwavering support have been instrumental in my success and growth as an educator.”

Phillips also thanked her parents John and Victoria, both watching on TV back in California, for their support.

“I also want to express a heartfelt thank you to my family for all of the love and support and patience,” said Phillips, whose siblings were in the crowd as she gave her speech. “You are my rock and will always be the wind beneath my wings.”

Mitty’s coach was also inducted into the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame in 2022.

Over the past few summers, Phillips has led the national team in U-17 and U-16 competitions. The definition of a winner, the San Jose native coached the team to gold both years.

Carol Callan, the director of the USA women’s national basketball team, was Phillips’ presenter at the hall of fame ceremony.

“I am a proud member of the USA basketball family,” Phillips said. “Thank you to USAB for the opportunity to be part of the gold standard.”

Thanks to HOFer Carol Callan for being my Presenter at the @WBHOF . ❤️ Incredibly grateful for Carol’s “ships”…friendship, mentorship & stewardship of our game. @fiba @usabasketball pic.twitter.com/Llom5znj1s — Sue Phillips (@coachsphillips) April 28, 2024

Phillips’ Mitty program has been the gold standard in the Bay Area for the past three years, winning CCS and NorCal Open titles.

Phillips and the Monarchs are still searching for the program’s elusive first state Open Division title, a game the Monarchs have lost in three consecutive seasons.

Phillips said that while championships and accolades are nice, that’s not how she measures her success as a coach.

“Together, we don’t just build better jump shots,” Phillips said. “We build better leaders. Our work together has been a testament to the power of teamwork, teaching life lessons through athletics, and a relentless pursuit of excellence.”

Anne Hathaway Just Opened Up About Being 5 Years Sober: Everything She's Said About Her Journey With Alcohol

The actress gave up drinking for her kids.

preview for 4 Times Women Had the Perfect Response to Being Underestimated

The actress, who is starring in Prime Video's new romantic comedy The Idea of You , shared that she's proud of the accomplishment in a New York Times profile published April 29.

When asked what she thinks about being middle-aged, Anne replied, "There are so many other things I identify as milestones. I don't normally talk about it, but I am over five years sober. That feels like a milestone to me."

"Forty feels like a gift," she added. "The fact of the matter is I hesitate at calling things 'middle age,' simply because I can be a semantic stickler and I could get hit by a car later today. We don’t know if this is middle age. We don’t know anything."

This isn’t the first time Anne has spoken out about her sobriety. Here’s what she’s shared about her journey with alcohol.

Anne first revealed her sobriety in 2019.

Five years ago, Anne shared that she stopped drinking after a night of partying with Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila Alves, while shooting their 2019 thriller film Serenity .

"We drank the night away, and then I had to go to a meeting with Steven Knight, our director, the next day, and I was just kinda stumbling in with one eye open, and I was trying to convince him about certain things about my character," she shared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show . "And at the end of it, I said, 'Listen, I have a confession. I was hungover the entire time.' And he just goes, 'Oh, really? I couldn't tell.'"

"Then two days later, we had another meeting, and I showed up and he said, 'Oh, now I can tell,'" she added.

She’s sober for her kids.

During the talk show appearance, the actress explained that she decided to give up alcohol because of her kids. The actress shares two sons—Jonathan, 7, and Jack, 4—with husband Adam Shulman.

"I’m going to stop drinking while my son's living in my house, just because I don't totally love the way I do it, and he's getting to an age where he really does need me all the time," she explained.

Plus, doing morning runs to school while hungover wasn't exactly fun for her, she added.

Anne reiterated her stance a few months later, adding that she didn't quit because she had a drinking "problem."

" I didn’t put [a drink] down because my drinking was a problem; I put it down because the way I drink leads me to have hangovers and those were the problem,” she told Modern Luxury in 2019 , per ET. “My last hangover lasted for five days. When I’m at a stage in my life where there is enough space for me to have a hangover, I’ll start drinking again, but that won’t be until my kid is out of the house."

Anne has said it’s not a “moralistic stance.”

In the same interview, Anne explained that she doesn’t judge people who drink. “I don't think drinking is bad. It's just the way I do it—which I personally think is really fun and awesome—is just not the kind of fun and awesome that goes with having a child for me,” she told Modern Luxury . “But this isn't a moralistic stance."

Anne has become "gentler" thanks to her sobriety, telling Vanity Fair in March that alcohol was “wallowing fuel” for her. “I knew, deep down, it wasn't for me,” she said. “And it just felt so extreme to have to say, 'But none ?' But none. If you're allergic to something or have an anaphylactic reaction to something, you don't argue with it. So I stopped arguing with it.”

Now, she just enjoys the camaraderie from people around her. “The thing that I have faith in is that everybody else is going to have one or two drinks, and by the time everybody gets to two drinks, you'll feel like you've had two drinks—but without the hangover,” she added.

Congrats, Anne!

'The Voice' singer Alyssa Crosby wants to share the spotlight in Binghamton this summer

Alyssa Crosby is back home in Binghamton and plans to bring some excitement to the city this summer.

After being eliminated off season 25 of NBC's "The Voice" on April 15, additional opportunities have been pouring in.

Crosby's answer to every one of them is "yes."

More: Binghamton's Alyssa Crosby looks ahead after 'The Voice' elimination: 'I'm not done'

Being on stage in real time and then coming home to watch her journey on the show all over again was not easy.

“It was hard at first because I felt I had so much more to offer,” Crosby said, reflecting back on the day her final episode aired, “and so much more growing to do and I felt capable of doing that.”

Crosby has received her fair share of negative comments from people on social media, but she channels that pain and negativity into creating new music, something she's been doing a lot.

“I don’t know these people, they don’t know my story and I don’t know theirs," she said. The negative comments are few compared to the rush of positive, kind messages she's received since the show aired, and the love and support from her newfound fans has given her an extra boost of confidence.

Being on "The Voice" opened up a whole new audience for Crosby, leading to unexpected partnerships and networking opportunities.

“I’m just basking in everything.” she said.

One of Crosby’s dreams has been to host a large music event in downtown Binghamton. She believes she now has the platform to pull it off.

With the help of Mikaila Fargnoli and Kris Kazmarcik, a music festival tentatively named " Live From Binghamton: A Block Party !"  will be the first of its kind for the city and it comes with stage, lights, booming speakers and four special guests from "The Voice."

The event is still in its early stages — gathering sponsors and permits — but a date has been set for Aug. 10.

The music festival will feature vendors, local businesses from the downtown area and a portion of the proceeds will go to a charity which has yet to be announced.

For Crosby, the festival is an opportunity for her to offer a platform for other up-and-coming artists and she hopes to make it an annual event.

Great app but one small but essential thing

I just got this app and I already enjoy it! Though when it says I get free 20 generations, I was hoping I would get a few free generations a day (like 3-5 or something). I was a little bummed out when i see that it’s not the case. So as a suggestion, i would like there be a few free generations a day kind of feature. I’m sure folks would love that. Other than that, I really enjoy this app.

Does Not Work with High Load of Generations

The Niji journey app make my phone hotter than when I’m playing a graphic intensive game like genshin or tower of fantasy. When I begin to do more than 4 generations I only do 3 at a time, my phone gets hot the app basically stops responding. It makes it impossible to look up a previous photo to make generation of it. When you got to your profile it takes 3+ mins to load your list and then once you are there it won’t let you select any of them. The app has more functionality than discord and more options but it’s almost unusable after 10 mins or one visit to your profile page. Please fix this for those who generate high numbers of photos.

Developer Response ,

Hi, Thank you for your feedback. We have been made aware of this issue, and have released some updates to address this. We are also constantly working towards making the app better, and if you are able to help give us more specific information. We can take a closer, and better look.

Pretty good

Mainly, there are no issues that have really messed with the app or the experience. The app runs smoothly, you can see the image progress, you can choose prompts, and add reference photos which is all amazing. HOWEVER, a big issue I run into is when a ‘Job failed to run’ while using a free trial. It takes one of your free generations without even showing a result. Or if you cancel a generation, you don't get your little trial generation back. The app is good, I’m just not sure if these are bugs or something :)

Senate Approves Aid for Ukraine and Israel, Sending It to Biden’s Desk

The overwhelming bipartisan vote for the long-stalled $95.3 billion aid package capped a tortured journey for the legislation on Capitol Hill. President Biden is expected to quickly sign it.

  • Share full article

Senate Passes $95.3 Billion Aid Package

The bipartisan bill includes $60.8 billion for ukraine; $26.4 billion for israel and humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones, including gaza; and $8.1 billion for the indo-pacific region..

“On this vote, the yeas are 79. The nays are 18. The motion to concur in the House amendment to the Senate amendment to H.R. 815 is agreed to.” “Today, the Senate sends a unified message to the entire world. America will always defend democracy in its hour of need. We tell our allies, we will stand with you. We tell our adversaries, don’t mess with us. We tell the world, we will do everything to defend democracy and our way of life.” “For months, our friends have watched to see whether America still had the strength that won the Cold War or the resolve that has underpinned peace and prosperity literally for decades. Our enemies have tested whether the arsenal of democracy is, in fact, built to endure. Well, tonight, the Senate will send a clear message.”

By Catie Edmondson

Reporting from the Capitol

The Senate voted overwhelmingly on Tuesday night to give final approval to a $95.3 billion package of aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, sending it to President Biden and ending months of uncertainty about whether the United States would continue to back Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression.

The vote reflected resounding bipartisan support for the measure, which passed the House on Saturday by lopsided margins after a tortured journey on Capitol Hill, where it was nearly derailed by right-wing resistance. The Senate’s action, on a vote of 79 to 18, provided a victory for the president, who had urged lawmakers to move quickly so he could sign it into law.

And it capped an extraordinary political saga that raised questions about whether the United States would continue to play a leading role in upholding the international order and projecting its values globally.

“Our allies around the world have been watching Congress for the last six months and wondering the same thing: When it matters most, will America summon the strength to come together, overcome the centrifugal pull of partisanship and meet the magnitude of the moment?” Senator Chuck Schumer, Democrat of New York and the majority leader, said on Tuesday. “Tonight, under the watchful eye of history, the Senate answers this question with a thunderous and resounding ‘yes.’”

In a statement minutes after the vote, Mr. Biden said he would sign the bill into law “and address the American people as soon as it reaches my desk tomorrow so we can begin sending weapons and equipment to Ukraine this week.”

“Congress has passed my legislation to strengthen our national security and send a message to the world about the power of American leadership: We stand resolutely for democracy and freedom, and against tyranny and oppression,” he said.

The House passed the package on Saturday in four pieces: a measure for each of the three U.S. allies and another meant to sweeten the deal for conservatives that includes a provision that could result in a nationwide ban on TikTok. It sent the legislation to the Senate as a single package that required only one up-or-down vote to pass.

Facing vehement opposition from his right flank to aiding Ukraine, Speaker Mike Johnson structured the legislation that way in the House to capture different coalitions of support without allowing opposition to any one element to defeat the whole thing. The majority of House Republicans opposed the aid for Kyiv.

The components of the bill are nearly identical to one that passed the Senate with bipartisan support in February. It includes $60.8 billion for Ukraine; $26.4 billion for Israel and humanitarian aid for civilians in conflict zones, including Gaza; and $8.1 billion for the Indo-Pacific region.

In addition to the package of sweeteners, which also includes new rounds of sanctions on Iranian and Russian officials, the House added provisions to direct the president to seek repayment from the Ukrainian government of $10 billion in economic assistance. That was a nod to a call by former President Donald J. Trump to make any further aid to Kyiv a loan. But the bill allows the president to forgive those loans starting in 2026.

Nine Republicans who opposed the Senate-passed aid legislation in February supported the bill this time. When Senator Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma changed his vote on Tuesday, this time agreeing to advance the legislation, Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the minority leader, gave him a thumbs-up on the Senate floor.

“Seventy-five percent of the bill, the total funding, stays within the United States,” Mr. Mullin said on Newsmax, explaining his support for the bill. “That’s what a lot of people don’t realize. This goes to our defense industry; this goes to replenishing our munitions.”

Fifteen hard-right Republican senators who oppose aid to Ukraine voted against the legislation. Senator Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, who opposed the measure but was one of three Republicans who did not vote on final passage, argued that Congress was “rushing to further bankroll the waging of a war that has zero chance of a positive outcome.”

“Pouring more money into Ukraine’s coffers will only prolong the conflict and lead to more loss of life,” Mr. Tuberville said. “No one at the White House, Pentagon or State Department can articulate what victory looks like in this fight. They couldn’t when we sent the first tranche of aid over two years ago. We should be working with Ukraine and Russia to negotiate an end to this madness.”

Three liberals, Democratic Senators Jeff Merkley of Oregon and Peter Welch of Vermont, as well as Bernie Sanders, independent of Vermont, also opposed the measure. They said they could not endorse sending more offensive weapons to Israel when the government’s campaign in Gaza has killed tens of thousands of people and created a hunger crisis there.

“We are now in the absurd situation where Israel is using U.S. military assistance to block the delivery of U.S. humanitarian aid to Palestinians,” Mr. Sanders said. “If that is not crazy, I don’t know what is. But it is also a clear violation of U.S. law. Given that reality, we should not today even be having this debate. It is illegal to continue current military aid to Israel, let alone send another $9 billion with no strings attached.”

But the vast majority of senators in both parties supported the legislation, and Senate leaders regarded its passage as a triumph, particularly given the opposition to aid for Ukraine that had built up in the House.

For months, Mr. Johnson and right-wing Republicans in the House had refused to entertain aid to Ukraine unless Mr. Biden agreed to stringent measures to curtail immigration on the U.S. border with Mexico. When Senate Democrats agreed this year to legislation that paired the aid with stiffer border enforcement provisions , Mr. Trump denounced it and Republicans rejected it out of hand.

Then the Senate passed its own $95 billion emergency aid legislation for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan without any immigration measures, ramping up political pressure on the House to do the same. For weeks, the message to Mr. Johnson from Mr. Schumer and Mr. McConnell had been the same: Pass the Senate bill.

In extensive remarks on the Senate floor on Tuesday before the procedural vote, Mr. McConnell cast congressional approval of the aid package as “a test of American resolve, our readiness and our willingness to lead.” He rebuked the naysayers in his party, criticizing those who, he said, would “indulge the fantasy of pulling up a drawbridge.”

“Make no mistake: Delay in providing Ukraine the weapons to defend itself has strained the prospects of defeating Russian aggression,” Mr. McConnell said. “Dithering and hesitation have compounded the challenges we face. Today’s action is overdue, but our work does not end here. Trust in American resolve is not rebuilt overnight. Expanding and restocking the arsenal of democracy doesn’t just happen by magic.”

Ukrainian officials cheered the impending passage of the bill.

Ruslan Stefanchuk, the speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, posted a photograph on social media of lawmakers holding American flags inside the chamber in Kyiv, in “gratitude to the United States and to every member of the House of Representatives who supported the Ukraine Aid Bill. We look forward to a similar decision from the Senate.”

“The United States has been and remains a strategic partner that stands shoulder to shoulder with the Ukrainian people in our fight against the russian aggressor!” Mr. Stefanchuk added.

The photograph recalled the scene on the floor of the House on Saturday when Democrats waved miniature Ukrainian flags as they voted for the aid bill. They were rebuked by Mr. Johnson and other Republicans, who called it a violation of decorum and said that only American flags should be displayed in the chamber.

  16. Anyone know Journey/Neal Schon guitar instrumental?

It is just electric guitar and has this "haunting", minor chords, sound to it. It is driving me crazy because I don't know if it is a Journey song or if Neal Schon did it. I think I've heard Mark Day playing it in a video but can't remember. I know Neal has done a ton of instrumental stuff but I don't think it is a whole song.
