So I purchased this last night based on smell and thinking it was different enough from the EDP to warrant it in my collection. I wore it for the first time today and here are my thoughts and wondered what anyone else's experience with this is. So they dialed back on the sweetness a tad and the vetiver in the dry down is just a touch more prominent to my nose. I love the smell of this, but am now under the influence that this is not that difference to warrant owning. In fact, the EDP perform, projects, and lasts way longer IMO. I put 8 sprays of the intense on this morning and literally could not smell it on myself. It disappeared from my skin very quickly, and remained a skin scent on my shirt that you have to bury your nose in to detect a remnant. I love the EDP, Parfum, and Elixir, but this new Intense seems to be a muted skin scent at best and at nearly $170 I expected better performance. I'm probably taking this back for another back up of Dior Homme 2020 or something. What are your thoughts on Intense?

Update: Tested by spraying the EDP on my left hand the EDP Intense on my right hand. Without a doubt the original EDP is the winner.

More Cool Than Tough

I always like your thoughts and taste in colognes so this makes me want to revisit the EDP. I’ll be honest there is something in the Y line that has never jived with me…and I went through a bottle of EDT…so I kind of gave up sampling it anymore. But that’s lazy as many ones I like now were not hits to start. So thanks for bringing it to the forefront. But if you aren’t liking the Intensr go get the DH 2020

Happen to own and enjoy both of them.

Effortless

Sounds about in tune with what others were saying about it. Really hoped it would have toned down the EDP's youthfulness even more, but it seems the difference is somewhat small. First few hours of wear make the EDP such a difficult one for me, candy-like and not serious enough. Always thought the deeper drydown is increasingly pleasant, ever so slightly sweet-soapy. Great to have around as an aura, even if I do tend to go very noseblind to it.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago. I am a huge fan of the parfum, and was looking for something similar but lighter for spring and summer. This fit the bill perfectly. I reach for it constantly. I never liked the EDP (too sweet), so I never bought it. I can't really compare the two. But it is different enough from the parfum for me to have both.

I don't know how it works in the US, but here in blighty there's no way they'd let you return a fragrance that had been opened and used unless you could prove there was something wrong with it, not just because you didn't like it after all (having had chance to smell it first or not). Good for you if they do that where you are but you'd get no joy here.

In the case, returns back to the company would be a good message that it's inception was asinine. In any case, I glad it worked in my favor. If not, I would have binned it and moved on. Either way, inconsequential to my thoughts.

Nautica Blue vs. Voyage Comparison

Gideon Joel

Nautica fragrances has a way of bringing alive the ocean’s spirit. It evokes memories of salty sea air, sun-kissed beaches, and vibrant blue waters. Those looking for a fresh, classic, contemporary fragrance may wonder what sets apart Nautica Voyage and Blue.

Nautica Blue is known for its woody aquatic scent with a fresh, green, watery vibe. Voyage is an aromatic aquatic with an appealing aqua aroma. The two fragrances both have citrus-fruity notes. However, the dominant note in Blue is cedar wood, while Voyage has a more prominent fruity accord.

In this review, we go head to head with Nautica Voyage vs Blue. Which is the better buy? Stay tuned as we explore what makes up each cologne and establish the best performer.

Nautica Blue vs Voyage

Nautica scents draw inspiration from the ocean and the great outdoors. Consequently, its colognes are typically fresh, aromatic, and sporty, often blending sea elements and green-citrusy accords. The classic brand boasts an impressive array of popular scents, all at affordable prices.

Nautica Blue and Voyage share the same perfume nose, Maurice Roucel. They are also popular masculine scents best worn on casual occasions.

So what differentiates them?

The table below summarizes the primary differences between Blue Nautica Cologne and Nautica Voyage.

Nautica Blue Eau De Toilette

Nautica Blue Eau De Toilette is a woody scent reminiscent of a stroll through the woods during summer. While it’s not a heavy or overpowering scent, it’s got enough kick to awaken your senses.

The fragrance comprises a lovely fusion of soft and masculine accords. The top notes feature fruity pineapple, bergamot, plus peach, and a heart containing jasmine and water lily. They all find a firm footing in the earthy, woodsy base provided by musk, cedar, and sandalwood. (If you enjoy scents containing sandalwood, check out this article ).

Nautica Blue is a subtle scent that’s also sensual and manly. It’s not that noticeable from afar, but it makes a great impression up close. Longevity is between 2 to 5 hours and depends on the prevailing circumstances. Despite the average performance, the cologne comes at a great price — an excellent choice for people on a budget who don’t like bold scents.

To get more extended wear out of Nautica Blue, try the following tricks:

  • Spray it on your clothes.
  • Spritz it on your pressure points, such as inner wrists, behind the ear lobes, and at the base of your throat.

Nautica Blue makes the cut if you’re searching for a pleasing fragrance that’s not too strong nor too expensive. It smells terrific and won’t upset the noses of people around you. And though it doesn’t last that long, it lingers on as a skin scent. And thanks to its soft essence, it can also work as a unisex fragrance.

This simple, fresh, and clean cologne is suitable for:

  • The office
  • A dinner date
  • Casual occasions

While Nautica Blue generally works for most climates and occasions, it might not hold up well in the heat. For best performance and to ensure you keep smelling good, wear it in the evening or during cold months.

Nautica Voyage Eau De Toilette

Nautica Voyage Eau De Toilette is a delicious blend that brings new adventures and discoveries to mind. It’s all about freedom, peace, and tranquility with a sprinkling of seawater. The fresh scent takes you on a sailing voyage, with soft waves crashing nearby and a gentle breeze stirring the endless ocean stretching as far as the eye can see.

This famous fragrance sports a clean, green, fruity, and watery scent with an aquatic vibe and woody undercurrents. Its cold watery aroma might remind you of dew or fresh cucumber. Voyage is not salty or oceanic but more of a light aquatic fragrance.

The crisp aroma combines green and fruity notes from refreshing green apples, mimosa, and watery notes atop a woodsy base of cedarwood , amber, and musk. Voyage Nautica also contains green and floral accords from wet moss and the lotus-mimosa duo. Once it dries down, this green/floral perfume settles into a very appealing summer fragrance.

Nautica Voyage’s sillage and projection are impressive. The scent lasts 6 to 10 hours or the entire day, depending on your body chemistry and the weather. It performs best during the daytime and is more of a casual fragrance, typically ideal for work, school, and informal events.

This appealing aqua scent caters to the carefree, adventurous man who enjoys the outdoors and is passionate about nature and life – a man with a romantic streak but one that likes to set his own rules.

So, what’s great about Nautica Voyage?

  • Offers great value for money
  • Smells amazing
  • Has a unique scent profile
  • Decent longevity (average 7 hours)

Nautica Blue or Voyage: Which Is Best?

Most users highly recommend Nautica Voyage, and we couldn’t agree more with our Nautica Voyage vs. Blue comparison.

It’s an aromatic aquatic scent with a unique edge. It combines fruity notes with woodsy accents to create an inviting fragrance that evokes the spirit of summertime. But there’s much more to it, as we have seen from this detailed review.

The subtle fragrance performs remarkably well, especially in warm summer weather, where it shines most. Can you picture yourself sailing away into the horizon on a sunny, lazy Saturday afternoon after donning a few spritzes of Nautica Voyage? What bliss!

The Voyage lasts beyond 8 hours and projects to a distance of about 7 feet ( 2.13 meters). This cologne works for any age, smells wonderful, attracts lots of compliments, and the price is just right.

What more could you wish for in a cologne?

Compared to Blue, Voyage suits a more mature demographic, although both scents work for most casual situations.

Nautica Voyage Cologne Fragrance Notes

Wrapping Up

Nautica, a sea-inspired American lifestyle brand, celebrates life by the ocean through its innovative nautical style and popular fragrances with a casual outlook and an aqua leaning. Nautica Voyage and Nautica Blue are two of the brand’s top-selling colognes, with hundreds of raving fans.

We have settled on Nautica Voyage as the best of the two, though both are equally great. And given their affordable prices, you can purchase both and wear each to suit different occasions.

The differences between the openings of these two fragrances is that, Voyage gives off a juicy/citrus scent while being an aquatic cologne, and Blue is leaning more towards the woodsy/aquatic.

Yes, blue has citrus/fruity notes as well but it’s cedar note is more noticeable while Voyage’s fruit notes take center stage.

Voyage starts thinks off with apple, musk, some watery notes, and floral notes. This is a greenish floral fragrance, at times, particularly after the opening. You will get plenty of lotus and mimosa in Nautica Voyage. For such an inexpensive scent, it really is quite unique.

Nautica Blue is a blend of bergamot and pineapple, up top. The newer bottles really seem really quite sharp in the opening act. Like a sharp fruity detergent. It’s strange, as older bottles didn’t have this same level of intensity. It will get woodier, later on, and settle itself down.

It’s really a matter of taste…but I give Voyage a slight edge. Actually, with the newer batches, Voyage wins this category hands down.

Edge: Voyage

Both of these scents are moderate, however, Blue tends to be on the lighter side in my opinion. Neither is really a projection beast, but they get the job done, for the most part. Blue gets softer, much earlier than does Voyage.

I get about 7 hours of wear out of Voyage most of the time. Blue, on the other hand, is really hit and miss with somewhere between 2-5 hours depending on the circumstances.

Voyage definitely starts to open a lead over Blue with this category. The last batch of Blue that I tried, really hit the lower end of its spectrum, too. Voyage owns this category.

Versatility

Nautica colognes are well known for being casual aquatic scents and that holds true in the case of these two. Blue is a fresh and clean fragrance that is quite simple and linear in its aroma. Both are good for work, school, casual situations.

Both would be best for younger guys, maybe Voyage has an edge for the older set head to head, but not enough to make a difference.

Overall Scent

Voyage to me, smells better overall and add that to its better performance and it has to be the winner out of these two. I remember Blue being much better in the past, not as much of a detergent like smell. The opening of this latest batch, really turned me off this cologne.

Voyage is an easy to wear go to. It’s really the pinnacle of the Nautica brand, that they don’t ever seem to be able to top. For the price, it’s a great option. Crisp fruit notes, green/floral blend, and a musky finish. There’s a reason that this fragrance, has become a best seller, at this price point.

I’d rather wear Voyage over Blue, every time, nowadays. In the past, Blue might have gotten a few wears, but it’s lost a lot of luster in my book.

The good news is that, since these colognes are so inexpensive, one could simply buy both of them and not break the bank in the process. See if you actually like Blue, and if not, it’ll only set you back $10-15.

Winner: Voyage

Nautica Blue vs Voyage, which is the winner?

Nautica Blue vs Voyage, which is the winner?

Aquatic fragrances, with their cold opening and breezy aroma, can awaken the powerful instincts of men. If you are looking for a strong and lasting aquatic fragrance , you might be torn between the two best-selling perfumes by the house of Nautica : Nautica Blue and Voyage.

Nautical Blue and Voyage are two best-selling aquatic fragrances designed by the famous perfume brand Nautica. They belong to the same fragrance line and are even composed by the same perfumer Maurice Roucel. Interestingly, they were even released in the same year, i.e., 2006.

But despite these vague similarities, the two perfumes differ from one another in our Nautica Blue Vs. Voyage comparison, we will stress all the points of differences between the two perfumes.

Nautica Blue Vs. Voyage: In A Nutshell

Nautica Blue and Nautica Voyage are two unique fragrances with aquatic and fruity notes (check the best smelling fruity perfumes ). However, Voyage slightly dominates our Nautica Blue Vs. voyage comparison. Voyage has a juicy, citrusy opening , making it fresh and more pleasing than the Nautica Blue.

Nautica Voyage

Voyage is also our personal favorite because of its great lasting power . Compared to its fellow fragrance in this comparison, Voyage EDT remains on the skin, helping you stay fresh and mesmerizing throughout the day.

Side By Side Comparison Of Nautica Blue Vs. Voyage

The two transparent glass bottles filled with icy blue liquid may look the same at a glance, but both Nautica Blue and Nautica Voyage perfumes have unique characters within their composition .

So, let’s get started.

Main Accords - The winner is Nautica Voyage

The opening notes of the two perfumes are a world apart. Both fragrances have deep aromatic layers and have an aquatic nature, but they give a different feel in the welcoming notes. We will start our Nautica Blue vs. Voyage review by analyzing the keynotes within the two perfumes .

Nautica Blue is a woodsy aquatic fragrance (check the best perfumes that smells like the ocean ). It does have some fruity citrus notes, but woodsy notes are more pronounced within the overall composition. The perfume opens up with fresh bergamot, peach, and pineapple notes. Then, it began to transit into a more subtle and floral flavor with the appearance of Jasmine and water lily. The base notes make the fragrance more sensual and calming . You can smell musk, cedar, and sandalwood as it dries down.

It opens up, giving you a greenish fruity start. The heart notes are more dewy and tender due to the presence of lotus and mimosa. Towards the end, it becomes slightly woodsy as it has cedar, oakmoss , amber, and musk.

Get a Refreshing Fragrance with Nautica Voyage

The unique and refreshing opening notes give Nautica Voyage a slight edge over Nautica Blue. Voyage has a fruity , juicy, and more pleasant start. The moist, tender flavors of Apple and the grassy effect at the opening make it slightly stronger yet extremely energizing.

Nautica Blue

Nautica Blue is more on the woody side. It is subtle, unraveling, and lighter in tone as compared to its counterpart. The fruity notes mixed with the strong woodsy base give the cologne an alluring feel.

Tones And Mood - Here is a Tie

Nautica Blue is an irresistible fragrance designed for men of all ages. It entered the fragrance hall in 2006. The nose behind the amazingly sensational perfume was Maurice Roucel. The tones of the perfume are layered for every confident man who wishes to stand out in the crowd. It is a fresh, soothing, and sweet-smelling fragrance (check the top rated sweet fragrances ) that can highlight the deep traits of a powerful man. The perfume is quite versatile. You can have a fabulous workday and even an amazing late-night event with a few spritzes.

Nautica Voyage carries an airy and unforgettable aroma with a touch of romance. The powerful romantic perfume was introduced in 2006, and the composition was arranged by the famous perfumer Maurice Roucel. The tones of the cologne feel fresh and breezy; the ad has a certain wilderness to them. It awakens the deep instinct that is strong, confident, and full of love. The fragrance is more suitable for mature men having a graceful accent . It can be enjoyed in all seasons and is suitable for work and festive occasions.

Both Are Versatile

The composition and scent that springs out from the Nautical Voyage are mesmerizing and revitalizing. It is perfect for young and mature men alike. Nautica Voyage gives you a dose of confidence with its stronger, firm scent.

Nautica Blue is a bit lighter than Voyage but has the same exceptional scent is ideal for a man having a professional attitude. It is equally versatile and can be worn throughout the year without regrets.

Longevity & Sillage - Winner is Nautica Voyage

Nautica voyage ad campaign

Now, this is where our Nautica Blue vs. Voyage comparison will trip its balance. Although both fragrances are aquatic, strong, and versatile, they do not possess the same lasting power. Nautica Voyage has great longevity. It can last for about 7 hours or more, depending on your skin type . A few spritzes on your pulse point in the morning will stay with you till the end of the day.

Nautica Blue lacks great longevity ability. It can stay on your skin for roughly about 5 hours, and you might have to re-spray the perfume to keep the aroma alive. Both perfumes have pretty moderate sillage. They do not leave a beastly or overpowering trail, but the projection is strong enough to allow you to get noticed.

Get a Long-Lasting Sillage with Nautica Voyage

The winner of this round is surely Voyage. Due to its amazing longevity and moderate sillage, the fragrance is often preferred by men searching for an aquatic fragrance.

Nautica Blue, on the other hand, has decent longevity and sillage. With Nautica Blue, you might have to re-spray the fragrance repeatedly to stay fresh .

Value For Money - Here is a Tie

Let’s discuss the deciding factor between these two amazing perfumes: i.e., price. With its fruity, juicy notes, Nautica Voyage can quickly turn eyes towards you! It has amazing longevity and smooth projection. Spray the perfume on your clothes and stay aromatic throughout the day. The perfume comes without any hefty price tag, making it ideal for this season .

Nautica Blue, with its woodsy lighter notes, is equally worth considering. It has a good lasting and good sillage. This favorite cologne by men comes at an affordable price tag. It’s worth enough for everyday use without spending a fortune to smell sensational.

Both Are Easy on Pockets

Both Nautica perfumes come with a decent price tag. They have notes that are amazingly textured. Longevity hours are acceptable, and sillage is moderate for our Nautica Blue Vs. Voyage review, we were satisfied with the pricing, considering the characteristics of each perfume.

Whatever perfume you bought, you certainly are in a win-win situation.

Our Recommendations: Nautica Voyage

Nautica Voyage has been the most popular fragrance among men. The perfume, with its welcoming notes, is hard to resist. It is fruity, juicy, crispy, and refreshing till the end. The longevity and projection score are like cherries on the top. Being an all-season favorite, it can be perfect for long office meetings, evening lunches, and late-night events .

Wrapping It Up

Choosing a fragrance is a personal choice. Perfume is perfect when it smells amazing on your skin and keeps you vitalized from dawn to dusk. Nautica Voyage is often an all-time favorite because it folds up from top to bottom. But Nautica Blue is equally rejuvenating. You will feel energized and confident with Nautica Blue on your skin.

Nautica Blue vs Nautica Voyage My Comparison

Share now or save for later!

When I first heard about Nautica fragrances I thought, Hmm, just another American sportswear brand releasing sporty fragrances that smell exactly the same. But after trying on a few, I was proven wrong. I quickly became hooked to some as they were exactly my type of scent.

Contrary to popular belief, Nautica colognes don’t smell the same. They all have their own unique qualities, just like the Nautica Blue and the Nautica Voyage. I put together this roundup to help clarify the difference between these two bestsellers, but also to let you know which one I think is better.

Nautica Blue

Nautica Blue

Nautica Blue belongs to the Aromatic Aquatic family. Launched in 2005, this Eau de Toilette for men concocted by Maurice Roucel is still one of Nautica’s best sellers.

The ocean-inspired Nautica Blue opens with citrusy top notes of bergamot, mellowed down with pineapple and peach tones. As it develops, subtle middle notes of Water Lily and jasmine reveal, and eventually the composition dries down to sweet base notes of sandalwood, musk, and cedar.

I first tried Nautica Bleu three years after it came out. I was instantly drawn by the shape of the bottle resembling a spinnaker sail. At first spray, I smelt familiar notes: a fresh, clean, masculine, and musky scent that I get from almost all blue bottles in any brand. After a few hours, I started to like it better, and then that was it. Gone. There was a slight trail of the Blue somewhere on my clothes and my, skin but nothing striking or turning heads.

Being light and not overpowering means I can wear it in the hot and humid weather, and being so cheap (I find it for $12) means I can reapply as much as I want to. I have no trouble wearing it during the day, to work, at the gym, right after showering, or as casual wear. I, however, prefer stronger and long-lasting scents for the evenings.

There are a few men’s colognes that I found that are pretty similar smelling to Nautica Blue. Dolce&Gabanna Light Blue Intense, for example, a woody aquatic scent, opens similarly to Nautica Blue, with citrusy notes such as grapefruit and mandarin orange. Bvlgari Aqua Pour Homme is the classic fresh aquatic cologne that most blue bottles smell like and so is the case with Nautica Blue. Davidoff Cool Water is this fresh and woody cologne that reminds me of racing, sea, waves, and the ocean, that’s exactly what Nautica Blue represents.

Azzaro Chrome has also similar notes and opens with bergamot and pineapple, just like the Nautica Blue. Lastly, if you like Nautica Blue but find it a little too gentle on your skin, try Ralph Lauren Polo Sport. Its fresh, energizing, and woodsy notes will never disappoint. If you’ve tried any of these and you like the fresh and aquatic scent, you have an idea how the Nautica Blue smells. Except, Nautica Blue does not perform as well as the alternatives mentioned.

The takeaway from Nautica Blue

To sum it up, Nautica Blue is an inexpensive cologne for men that I don’t mind having in my collection. It is a safe buy, smells fresh, clean, and sporty, and it makes me smell good for a few hours without being offensive to the people in my surrounding. But unless you don’t mind reapplying, Nautica Blue’s performance leaves a lot to be desired.

Nautica Voyage

Nautica Voyage

Nautica Voyage was launched in 2006, a year later after the Nautica Bleu. The nose behind this cologne is again Maurice Roucel. Unlike the Aromatic Nautica Blue, the Voyage is a Woody Aquatic fragrance that opens with fruity and green top notes like apple and green leaves. There is a warm heart note of mimosa and lotus which blends well with the base notes of musk, cedar, amber, and oakmoss, leaving a heavy musky trail behind.

To me, Nautica Voyage smells romantic, fresh, sweet, and masculine, a scent I like to wear on summer nights. Surprisingly enough, it lasts me the entire evening and goes well into the morning but is much softer, almost powdery.

It is an inexpensive cologne, one I can grab when I am in a rush. It never fails to keep me fresh.

However, over the years the scent has been reformulated and while the previous bottles had a metal cap the new ones come with a plastic cap. Although they smell very similar, the performance in the reformulated is not as long-lasting as the previous batches. But I still get about 5-7 hours of freshness.

The cologne reminds me of a Tommy Bahama for Men because I can smell the exotic, sweet, and summery notes. With Nautica Voyage being less sweet and overpowering. Though it’s a perfume for women, there is something in Escada Into The Blue that is so similar to Nautica Voyage. It could be the green notes in the opening or the woodsy tones in the dry down. In any case, I find that this scent smells somehow very similar to Nautica Voyage.

The takeaway from Nautica Voyage

All in all, Nautica Voyage is a classic fresh scent from Nautica, and at $20 it is worth a blind buy. Longevity and sillage are moderate, lasting you long enough to run errands, or go to after-work cocktails. It is not even nearly offensive, which means you can even wear it to the gym, or at your doctor’s appointment.

The verdict: Nautica Blue Vs Nautica Voyage

With all being said, now it’s time to decide which of the two best sellers is the right one to buy. Both Nautica Blue and Nautica Voyage have a strong opening, one that resembles a clean and fresh shower gel. In a few hours the Nautica Blue slowly disappears, while the Nautica Voyage lasts throughout the day and well into the night and the following morning, with no need to reapply.

When I wear Nautica Blue I feel energetic, outgoing, and sporty, I feel like going on an adventure hiking the mountains or sailing, whereas Nautica Voyage gives me a more sophisticated feel. Hence, I prefer to wear it on a romantic date, night out with friends, and at work meetings.

Both of these colognes are popular, and a good reason for that is the low price. While Nautica Blue comes in 0.5oz, 1.7oz, and 3.4oz, and goes for $20 for the large size, the Nautica Voyage is available in 1.6oz, 3.38oz, and 6.7 oz for $35, making it a better value for money.

While both scents suit me well, I still prefer Nautica Voyage better. I fancy warm woody notes and this cologne hits those spots. It is impossible to hate, and I get a lot more compliments on the Nautica Voyage compared to Nautica Blue. What’s more, Nautica Voyage lasts me throughout the day, and goes into the next morning, without having to reapply. I wake up to a soft, musky, floral scent that I’d like to keep just a little longer before I jump in the shower.

If you are after a fresh cologne, that is safe to wear any time of the day or evening, with a good performance, and one that won’t hurt your budget, then Voyage is one of the best choices out there. It is versatile and appealing and will win you tons of compliments.

  4. What does YSL Y EDP compare to? : r/fragrance

I honestly haven't smelled anything quite like the top of Y EDP. It's syrupy sweet and has a very clear apple scent to it. Hugo Just Different also has apple in the top, but it's nowhere as syrupy.
