One of the oldest civilisations in the world, India is a mosaic of multicultural experiences. With a rich heritage and myriad attractions, the country is among the most popular tourist destinations in the world. It covers an area of 32, 87,263 sq. km, extending from the snow-covered Himalayan heights to the tropical rain forests of the south. As the 7th largest country in the world, India stands apart from the rest of Asia, marked off as it is by mountains and the sea, which give the country a distinct geographical entity.

Fringed by the Great Himalayas in the north, it stretches southwards and at the Tropic of Cancer, tapers off into the Indian Ocean between the Bay of Bengal on the east and the Arabian Sea on the west. As you travel the expanse of the country, you are greeted by diverse nuances of cuisines, faiths, arts, crafts, music, nature, lands, tribes, history and adventure sports. India has a mesmeric conflation of the old and the new. As the bustling old bazaars rub shoulders with swanky shopping malls, and majestic monuments accompany luxurious heritage hotels, the quintessential traveller can get the best of both worlds. Head to the mountains, enjoy a beach retreat or cruise through the golden Thar, India has options galore for all.

Pan India Road Trip

Dream – Drive – Discover

One Car – Two Guys – One Country

20,661 kilometers and 70 days is what it took us to cover each and every state in India.

We dreamt of travelling all around India in 2010 and in 2015 this dream was set alive when we ‘flagged off’ from Surat (Gujarat) on 30th of August’ 2015 for this trip. Calling it the PAN INDIA ROAD TRIP (PIRT), this trip covered each and every state (all 29) in India.

A trip like this had never ever been done before. Either someone was attempting a record or just travelling the known places or leaving out the North East completely. We made it a point to visit anything and everything that comes in our ways.

From Lonar Crater Lake in Maharashtra, Laxmi Vilas Palace in Gujarat, Ranakpur Jain Temple and Kuldhara in Rajasthan, Rakhi Garhi in Haryana, Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Punjab, Pangong Lake in Jammu and Kashmir which is a part of Leh – Ladakh region, Gue in Himachal Pradesh, Rishikesh in Uttarakhand, Delhi, Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh, The Scindia School in Madhya Pradesh, Bodh Gaya in Bihar, Gurudongmar Lake and Nathu La Pass in Sikkim, Tawang in Arunachal, Khonoma in Nagaland, Loktak in Manipur, Mizoram, Unakoti in Tripura, Living Roots Bridges in Meghalaya, Hajo in Assam, Maluti in Jharkhand, Kolkata in West Bengal, Chilika in Orissa, Borra Caves and Araku Valley in Andhra Pradesh, Chitrakoot Falls in Chattisgarh, Golkonda Fort in Telangana, Mysore in Karnataka, Meenaxi Temple in Tamil Nadu up till Kanya Kumari, Alleppey in Kerela and Goa.

This list is just 25% of all the places we went to. We visited more than 120 sites and drove across more than 90 cities during the trip. Along with all the travelling and driving we made it a point to involve ourselves in adventure activities like Bungee Jumping, Rafting, Sand Dunes Bashing and Sky Diving.

Even with different languages spoken and different cultures followed in every part of country, people were similar when it came to their nature. Whenever and wherever we got stuck or had problems we got helped out of the situation. The Army, Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and also the Police came to our rescue whenever needed. We were invited for a cup tea at sun-down in Kashmir by some army men, Army in Arunachal made it a point that we were safe when our car broke down at the Sela Pass while it was snowing; BRO pulled our car out when it got stuck in 3 feet mud in Manipur; the Police helped us out of a curfew in Manipur again. In Himachal Pradesh, on our way to Spiti Valley, we had a tyre puncture while it was freezing outside; one of the local guys from the BSNL department, without any alternate motive helped us fix that and so on. There are many more stories too.

We just did what we wanted to do, without any other clauses added to their trip. With no restrictions what so ever, we followed our hearts and made a successful trip out of this.

Apart from taking photographs, we have audio and video recorded some of our experiences too. We preferred staying at home-stays to get a firsthand experience of the life there. People were always courteous in sharing their life stories and giving them more motives to travel.

When asked what we came back with, we just have one answer, ‘Memories, some new friends and an experience to talk about. We fulfilled one of our dreams, what else could we ask for.’

Follow this on Tripoto and we will be updating our day by day travel experience of all the 70 days along with photographs soon.

TripSavvy / Faye Strassle

Ah, it's so hard to choose! What are the best tourist places in India? A lot of the time, it comes down to personal preference. However, some places to visit in India remain perennially more popular than others. These are among the best destinations in India.

Want to know more about India's top destinations? Take a look at this India travel planner and this guide to the top India tourist places by region. If you'd like to explore beyond India's popular tourist attractions, here are 12 of the best places to visit in India off the beaten track to inspire you!

Also read: Safety issues at top tourist places in India to be prepared for problems you may encounter.

Best for Monuments: Delhi

Most first time travelers to India usually land in Delhi, India's capital city. It can be quite a culture shock . The city is primed to take advantage of unsuspecting tourists. However, bear with it! Delhi's top attractions feature spellbinding mosques, forts, and monuments left over from the Mughal rulers that once occupied the city. Many of these are set in beautiful landscaped gardens that are perfect for relaxing. And the crumbling old city of Old Delhi is a fascinating, albeit chaotic, place to explore. Plan your trip there with this Delhi city guide.

Best Iconic: Taj Mahal

Nora Carol Photography/Getty Images

A part of India's popular Golden Triangle tourist circuit , Agra is best known for the Taj Mahal. Enough said really. It's India's most iconic monument and one of the top historical attractions.   For that reason, it's impossible to leave it off the list. (While you're there, why not get off the beaten track and visit some attractions around Agra as well?). Make sure you read this comprehensive guide to Agra and the Taj Mahal before you go.

Best Temple: Golden Temple

Amritsar is home to one of India's most notable landmarks -- the Golden Temple. It was founded in 1577 by Guru Ram Das, the fourth Sikh guru. It’s the spiritual capital of the Sikhs and gained its name, meaning "Holy Pool of Nectar", from the body of water around the Golden Temple. The exquisite Golden Temple attracts pilgrims from all over the world and the number of visitors it gets rivals that of the Taj Mahal! It looks particularly arresting at night when it’s beautifully lit up, with its imposing gold dome illuminated. This guide to Amritsar and Golden Temple has more details.

Best Regal Splendor: Udaipur

Ah, Udaipur! Famed city of lakes and palaces, and the most romantic city in India. A must-visit for the ability to immerse yourself in regal splendor. The royal family has converted much of the sprawling City Palace into a museum , housing priceless memorabilia. It provides an extraordinary opportunity to take a look into their lives. Another attractive thing about Udaipur is that it offers great value! There are so many inexpensive yet atmospheric hotels overlooking the lake to stay in. Or, stay in the City Palace Complex itself, at the Shiv Niwas Palace Hotel or Fateh Prakash Palace Hotel.

Best Ruins: Hampi

Hampi is, not surprisingly, one of the most popular places to visit in Karnataka. There you'll find the captivating ruins of Vijayanagar, the last capital of one of the greatest Hindu kingdoms in not only the state but in India’s history. The ruins are intriguingly intermingled with large boulders that rear up all over the landscape. An incredible energy can be found at Hampi. Its laid-back vibe attracts plenty of travelers who like to stay a while and chill out. The New York Times included Hampi on its list of 52 Places to Go in 2019 , so get there fast before everyone else! Have a read of this handy Hampi travel guide for more information.

Best for History and Architecture: Ajanta and Ellora Caves

TripSavvy / Anna Haines

Among the top caves in India , the ancient and awe-inspiring Ajanta and Ellora caves have been hand-carved into hillside rock quite in the middle of nowhere near Aurangabad in northern Maharashtra. These caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There are 34 of them at Ellora, dating from between the 6th and 11th centuries AD. They're a mixture of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain caves. The caves at Ajanta are all Buddhist caves. There are 29 of them, dating from the 2nd century BC to 6th century AD. Words can't describe how magnificent they all are.

Best for Spirituality: Varanasi

Varanasi, one of the top spiritual places in India, is a city quite unlike any other. This mystical holy city openly reveals its rituals along the many riverside ghats, which are used for everything from bathing to burning the bodies of the dead. Indeed, Varanasi is a confronting and rather dirty city (although it has been cleaned up a lot in recent years). However, it provides invaluable insight into ancient traditions in India. Two highlights are wandering along the riverside ghats and attending the evening Ganga Aarti ceremony. Here's a Varanasi travel guide to help you plan your trip.

Best for Culture: Kolkata

WIN-Initiative/Getty Images

Kolkata , the capital of West Bengal, is a fascinating but underrated city that unfortunately all too often gets overlooked by tourists. Those who are most keen on history, experiential travel, and day-to-day life will appreciate what it has to offer though. Look past its crumbling buildings and you'll discover delicious distinctive Bengali cuisine , interesting places to shop , diverse neighborhoods , and engaging heritage . The city's biggest festival, Durga Puja , is worth experiencing as well! Take a look at these evocative photos of Kolkata for inspiration.

Best for South Indian Culture: Madurai

Olaf Kruger/Getty Images

Madurai, in Tamil Nadu , has the most impressive temple in South India -- the Meenakshi Temple . If you only see one of South India's temples , the Meenakshi Temple should be it. The city of Madurai is more than 4,000 years old, and has remained a major center for Tamil culture and learning. The 12 day Chithirai Festival , featuring a re-enacted celestial wedding of God and Goddess, is held in Madurai during April each year. Here's what else to see and do in Madurai.

Best for Tribal Culture: Northeast India

Tourists are often surprised to discover that there are many different tribes in India . In fact, along with Africa, India has the largest tribal population in the world. Many of them inhabit India's remote Northeast region and they generally welcome visitors. One of the best ways to experience their culture is to attend one of their tribal festivals , such as the renowned Hornbill Festival. Otherwise, reputable local companies such as Greener Pastures and Holiday Scout conduct responsible tribal tours.

Best for Relaxation: Kerala Backwaters

One of the must-do things in Kerala , a trip in a houseboat along the palm-fringed Kerala backwaters is so tranquil and relaxing. The lush green landscape, and houses and villages that line the backwaters make a journey along these waterways seem like a journey through another world. Freshly cooked Indian food and chilled beer on board the boat make the experience even more enjoyable. Don't miss it! Here's how to best visit the Kerala Backwaters.

Best for Beaches: Goa

Westend61/Getty Images

India's top beach destination, Goa lures visitors with the promise of parties and lazy days by the sea. However, there's more to Goa than just hedonism. The state also offers an eclectic blend of history, nature, culture , and adventure activities . It's divided into north and south Goa, with the north being more developed and action-packed. If you're looking for quiet beaches, head south! However, each beach has its own character. This  Goa beach guide will help you choose the beach that's right for you. Check out these gorgeous Goa beach huts as well.

Best for Wildlife: Kanha National Park

India has so many national parks, it's hard to choose the best wildlife destination. However, the jungles of Madhya Pradesh do stand out, Kanha National Park in particular. It's one of the largest national parks in India and it provided the setting for Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel, The Jungle Book . The park is highly regarded for its research and conservation programs. Numerous activities, such as nature walks, are possible in the buffer zone as well as safaris into the core area twice a day. Tiger sightings are regular there too! Want to visit more than one national park in Madhya Pradesh ? Bandhavgarh is also popular.

Best for Adventure: Spiti

Himanshu Khagta/Getty Images

The high-altitude alpine desert landscape of remote Spiti, in Himachal Pradesh, provides ample options for adventure enthusiasts. These include mountain biking, hiking and trekking, tracking wildlife, and yak safaris. Spiti's remarkable landscape is scattered with small villages and monasteries, and enclosed by soaring peaks crowned with snow. Take a look at these spectacular photos of the Spiti Valley . Spiti can be reached by road from Manali or Shimla. This ultimate Spiti travel planner will help you organize your trip.

Best Offbeat: Kutch Region of Gujarat

Referred to as India's "Wild West", the Kutch region of Gujarat is an immense stretch of largely barren and harsh desert landscape bordering Pakistan. Much of Kutch consists of seasonal wetlands known as the Great Rann of Kutch (famous for its salt desert) and smaller Little Rann of Kutch (famous for its Wild Ass Sanctuary ). The region is also celebrated for the vibrant handicrafts made by its talented artisan villagers, and the seaside port town of Mandvi where there's a remarkable 400 year-old ship building yard.

Best Up and Coming: Odisha

Odisha has tremendous potential as a tourist destination and will undoubtedly attract more visitors when adequate infrastructure is developed. Until then, you can enjoy the serenity in this lesser-known state on the east coast of India. Attractions include the unusual Konark Sun Temple , massive annual Ratha Jatra festival in Puri , the Diamond Triangle of sacred Buddhist sites , the wetlands at Mangalajodi where migratory birds can be seen close-up, handicraft villages , classical music and dance festivals , and a multitude of ancient temples . Still not sure if you want to go there? Here are even more places to visit in Odisha and the capital city Bhubaneswar .

“Presence Across Nation” is the full form of PAN India. "pan India" means a body or organization that operates or has branches all over India.

India has 28 states and 8 Union Territories, and each state has a government overseeing the region and establishing laws and regulations for the local population. Each state operates autonomously under the 839 constitutional laws, although each state has its laws, some of which may differ from those in surrounding states.

The Central Government ensures coordination and collaboration among other states as the supreme authority over all state governments. Any decision made by the state government only applies to that state; in contrast, any decision made by the central government applies across the entire nation.

What is the meaning of PAN India?

PAN is for "Permanent Account Number" (PAN Card), which is identity verification. At the same time, Pan full form of Pan India is "Presence Across Nation," which signifies that one body or organization functions across India. For instance, a company with its headquarters in Delhi and offices all over India means the company is operating at a pan India location. The word “pan” means “including the whole of something,” which makes pan-India, include the whole of India.

The term "location pan" also refers to all of the states and cities inside a country's borders and their connection to the federal and state laws that govern the country. Every territory currently a part of Pan India is subject to the federal government's rules.

The meaning of pan India in tamil is, "நாடு முழுவதும் இருப்பு," இது ஒரு அமைப்பு அல்லது அமைப்பு இந்தியா முழுவதும் செயல்படுவதைக் குறிக்கிறது. "பான்" என்ற வார்த்தையின் அர்த்தம் "ஏதாவது முழுவதையும் உள்ளடக்கியது", இது பான்-இந்தியா முழுவதையும் உள்ளடக்கியது.

The meaning of pan India in Marathi is, "प्रेझेन्स अॅक्रॉस नेशन," जे संपूर्ण भारतामध्ये एक संस्था किंवा संस्था कार्यरत असल्याचे सूचित करते. "पॅन" या शब्दाचा अर्थ "संपूर्ण गोष्टीचा समावेश" असा होतो, ज्यामुळे संपूर्ण भारताचा समावेश होतो.

The meaning of pan India in Hindi is, "संपूर्ण भारत में," जो दर्शाता है कि एक निकाय या संगठन पूरे भारत में कार्य करता है। "पैन" शब्द का अर्थ है "सब कुछ सहित", जो अखिल भारतीय बनाता है, पूरे भारत को शामिल करता है।

When was the Pan Indian Movement?

This is an academic phrase that is employed to define the onset of a massive push, particularly between many urban American Indian societies but also within many reservation societies, that American Indian people exchange essential key principles in addition to the common heritage and continuing encounter of colonial rule and the complexities of it. ( 1 )

The National Congress of American Indians came into existence in the early 20th century, marking the beginning of the rise of pan-Indian organizations; however, it wasn't until the 1960s that a common sense of "Indianness" began to gain significant traction.

What is the meaning of a Pan India star?

A celebrity or person of distinction with work in pan Indian films and a following and collecting spread over India is referred to as a pan India star. The most successful pan-Indian actors are Jr. NTR and Prabhas. However, many consider Kamal Hassan the first pan-Indian star with a legacy that has left a lasting impression on Indians.

What is the meaning of a pan-India movie?

A pan-India movie is simultaneously released in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi, and Malayalam to reach the widest possible audience and generate the most revenue. These films aim to appeal to audiences across the nation by bridging linguistic and cultural divides.

The official definition of pan Indian is when an organization or entity operates across all of India or has connections with an audience across India, much like Indian stars do.

Which is the Biggest Pan-India Movie?

A Pan-India movie has gained popularity across the whole of India. When we talk of the major cinema Industry in India, we tend to think of Bollywood, i.e., the Hindi film industry. However, a pan-India movie often comes from south Indian Cinema, especially TollywAllu Rajun and Prabhasood!

Why is this? Because, majority of the time, Bollywood movies are not made keeping in view the southern audiences. The plots of movies invariably lean toward people who go to urban multiplexes. Whereas the South Cinema is mostly based in rural India with elements that appeal to every stratum of audiences! So, when a south movie is dubbed into Hindi, most people in the North also associate with them.

If we talk about the biggest Pan-India movie, we are automatically redirected toward the southern Indian cinema Industry. Below are some of the biggest pan-India movies:

  • Bahubali: The Beginning
  • Bahubali: The Conclusion
  • K.G.F. Chapter 1
  • Pushpa: The Rise

Is Allu Arjun a Pan-India Star?

YES! We Can Say that Allu Arjun is indeed a pan-India star! He became famous pan-India, thanks to his movie Pushpa: The Rise. With this movie, he got catapulted into the manners of every Indian! We can see memes of people mimicking his beard-hand slash move!

Before this, Allu Arjun was known pan-India but not really famous. Now people are waiting for his next movie in the Pushpa venture. Pushpa Part 2: The Rule. It is expected to release sometime in early 2023; there is no confirmed date, though. I, too, am amongst the people on the waitlist!

Reflecting on PAN India's Meaning in the Corporate World

Many businesses register as PAN India institutions, which means they conduct business all across India, providing pan India services and disseminating pan India products to all regions in the South, West, North, and East. About the corporate world,

PAN India can serve two of the following Pan India meaning:

  • A company with its headquarters in one region but branches and employees spread out across the country's east, west, north, and south yet working for the same head office or payroll.
  • A company or an e-commerce platform , headquartered in one place but running its operations across the nation via its e-commerce delivery.

Not only would this include corporate, but Pan India means it can also be reflected in any business or body across the nation. As mentioned before, PAN India means 'Presence Across Nation', which justifies a company’s presence across India.

Pan India Companies

Additionally, several companies have PAN India as a part of their name. They can, however, be misinterpreted as the same corporate body because of the initials in the company name.

Some of the companies that function as PAN India bodies are:

  • Pan India Corporation Limited
  • Pan India Corporate Services
  • Pan India Internet Private Limited
  • Pan India Consultants Private Limited
  • Pan India Group of Company

A pan-India company provides a pan-India service that is accessible from anywhere in the country and has dedicated offices and staff members from all over the country who work or operate in various regions but are still employed by the same business or service doing the same service.

A pan-India service can be anything provided by a business that advertises its pan-India products or services, like online marketing or police services that are provided throughout the entire country under the control of a single entity, like the government of India, which offers its services under a single name but in several different locations.

Pan India Jobs

Any job or profile that uses the phrase "Pan India" denotes that opportunities are available in all of the company's offices throughout India. The applicant may be placed in any of the offices. Due to the development of commodity solutions that have made it simple for employees to relocate and obtain jobs nearby, Pan India Jobs are now easily accessible.

Pan India Corporation
