Center Parcs has made a U-turn after initially announcing guests staying at its UK sites would have to leave them on Monday (September 19), the day of the Queen’s funeral. The date has been declared a bank holiday by the new monarch, King Charles III.
The announcement prompted angry criticism from holidaymakers, who took to social media to vent their frustration. The company, however, stated that it had since “reviewed our position” and that guests would be allowed to remain on site on Monday, though facilities would be closed for the day.
Despite the controversy, Center Parcs remains a longtime favourite among UK holidaymakers. If you’re planning your own trip to one of its sites, here’s how much you can expect to pay for some of its most popular activities .

We all really enjoyed our stay. We love the fact you can choose to take part in as many activities as you like depending on your parties interests. Activities suit everyone from 77 year old grandma to 3 year old granddaughter.
- Cleanliness
I was worried about my first visit after reading many reviews saying it was a rip off here and the accommodation was outdated and tired . However I found the lodges to be modern and well equipped and the activities were great fun and relaxing which made them good value to me. We stayed in a 4 bed lodge with 7 adults for a reunion get together. The beds were v comfy with good pillows , hot showers and a modern well equipped kitchen. Arrival was relatively smooth - only a short queue to get on site - if you park near the parc interiors entrance barrier on arrival ( areas j and K ) then you have a shorter wait time . Cycle hire is highly recommended as it’s a pleasure to explore the parc on 2 wheels . The Bollywood dance class was a lot of fun with a lovely teacher who was welcoming and amusing . The spa was wonderful with many unique steam rooms and relaxation areas . We bought our own food except one night When we ate in Las iguanas which was no more expensive than outside the parc I think the swim area needs updating - the rapids we’re disappointing as they were too slow with awkward bumps to clamber over plus the water was too shallow resulting in bruised hips and elbows . Their policy of one key bracelet per bedroom for the lodge made logistics tricky for a group of 7 adults too as we really needed a key each to be independent for the stay - we did request an extra one on the Sunday but we refused by some jobs worth ! It would also be helpful to have some Electric bikes to hire here as the site is quite undulating Overall a good place for a fun get together in a lovely location with lots of do on your doorstep
We booked to take our dog & paid for the privelage but looking into it, center parcs is quite dog unfriendly, tried to cancel taking our dog but could not be done so lost money. My husband injured himself and we found the young staff in the sports plaza rather unhelpful and not interested. Very expensive and pay over the odds on everything.
We love center parcs and have been seven times over the years. We stayed in an executive lodge this time ,it was in need of renovation but that didn't spoil are stay,it was the animal living in the internal bedroom wall that must have been nocturnal because come bedtime there we're constant scratching noises. My partner wouldn't sleep in the bedroom so we had to sleep in the lounge ,we notified reception but was told nothing could be done unless they knock holes in the wall. Lodge 484 at longleat Everything else was brilliant
It saddens me to write this, as we visit Centre parcs every year. This year was my Son's 18th and it was his choice. The park itself was lovely and clean, Apartment like wise and we paid a little extra to be close to the main centre/swimming. We booked into around 7 or so activities. Expensive but we had pre booked so have no issue with this. Even done additional there like the Snooker and Electric Boat on the lake. All the events were covered by experienced staff and friendly staff. The one that shone out to me was the guy doing the Quad bikes. He was a true gent and passionate about his job. I can not remember his name. So why have I rated it so low. Service. The service in the Bars, Restaurants was shocking. You have to use card, no cash and a service charge is present on every action. We ate out 4 times and on all 4 times the food (after 40 min wait) still beat the drinks to our table. This is not the Staff fault its just there is not enough of them. To add to this the food was awful. Really sloppy and tasteless. There is not one meal we could honestly say we enjoyed, and this spread to a Chinese delivery we had sent to the lodge. Over 1hr 30 mins to arrive and the Crispy beef was like shoe laces. Went on the Tram a few times and always totally full, Im sure there used to be two going around, but sadly just one now. We are already looking to book for next year but not at Longleat. They have priced themselves out the market for what they supply. Standards have dropped and attention to detail has somewhat disappeared. Shame

Quad Bike Safari at Center Parcs
If you fancy something a bit faster and more furious than the Segway Experience , then the Quad Bike Safari is a great option. It is an off-site activity with a third party company, but you still book and pay Center Parcs and the Village deals with everything including the inevitable disclaimer forms and required travel to and from the quad bike location.
We’ve done this activity twice at Center Parcs Elveden, and have it booked for a third time this coming summer – the opportunity to ride one of these machines on the kind of terrain presented to you is a big draw for this motor-loving couple! Actually the first time we did this in 2010 was at a different place to the second time, I’m hoping it’s hasn’t moved again because the course last year was so much fun and I’d relish the chance to have another go at it.
Me on my quad bike ready to set off into the wilderness… okay, woodland ( 2010).
The activity starts with a meet-up in the entrance of the Lakeview Hotel, where you sign the disclaimer form and pick up the mini bus. The journey to the quad bike location is around 20-30 minutes, and the bus is quite comfortable. The centre is quite basic, but there is an area indoors for the briefing, some lockers to bung your stuff in (you can’t carry anything on the bikes), and a toilet.
After the briefing (go, stop, slow, fast, turning, safety, etc) you get taken out to a line of quad bikes, all running, one behind the other. We were given full-face motorcycle helmets to wear along with a waterproof jacket (this is in 2014, I know it looks sunny in the photos!) to put on over the top of our clothes. An instructor takes the first quad and there is a sweeper quad, too, just to make sure everyone is ok. Starting on a flat dirt track you have the chance to get used to the controls – the quads have a thumb throttle which is fairly sensitive but not too bad, it’s easy to get the hang of it even though it’s not what most people are used to. You are encouraged to use your body weight to help make turning corners easier, so I took the opportunity to practice this in the relative open space of the farm tracks; for some reason I did not find this intuitive which means I was a little slower than the others – I desperately tried to keep up but I simply was not as fast. Let’s face it when LincsGeek gets given a quad bike to ride along a muddy track he is just going to go for it and enjoy himself!
All lined up and ready to make these machines do their thing!
I had little to worry about, really, as next we were going on a much more technical section of track and by then I had definitely got the hang of things. After a short while on the farm tracks (which were wet and muddy when we went thanks to the weather the previous day) we headed into the woodland and did a few circuits of a winding track in and around the trees. Undulating would be a good word to describe it – up and down banks, through massive puddles (wear waterproof footwear and jeans you don’t mind getting dirty!), over massive tree root systems, over make-shift bridges made from palettes. I was thrown all over the place as I rode, using a lot more strength than I was expecting to keep the quad bike where I wanted it, and got rather muddy in the process – awesome!
The route through the trees, each circuit of which was linked by a quick blast along a flatter track which offered the chance to open the throttle a bit, was different each time, which kept things interesting. I really had to concentrate on the bike in front to make sure I went the right way – take a wrong turn and you end up on a much more difficult section or faced with quad bikes coming towards you (I promise that didn’t happen but I can see how it might!).
At the end of our session we got back in the mini bus full of beans – it was an absolute blast. If you are going to Center Parcs with a group of adult friends this is a great activity to go and do – wind in the face, a heavy noisy machine to ride, an exciting track with all kinds of terrain, and lots of smiles.
The Quad Bike Safari at Center Parcs Elveden is 1 hour 45 minutes including travel time – you get 45 minutes actually driving the quad bikes, so it’s the same as the Segways. The cost is quite high at £65 per person, but we are happy to pay that for an experience like this (this cost is for May 2015). There is also a junior quad bike activity for children which is onsite at the Outdoor Activity Centre.
I don’t work for or with Center Parcs, I just thought you’d like to hear about my experiences as we like to go once a year or so for a family break. When we go in May I’ve got Stand Up Paddleboard Tuition booked; I’ll let you know how much I fall in later in the year!

Segway experience at center parcs - splodz blogz.
[…] Over the years I have ticked several of my bucket list items off when on holiday at Center Parcs, and I plan to do at least one more when we go later this year. I’ve been asked a number of times since my Center Parcs Elveden Hints and Tips post to tell you more about the Quad Bike and Segway experiences I tried; it seems lots of you are interested in having a go, and I would definitely recommend both. I’ll start with the Segways here and you can read about the Quad Bikes here. […]
Dragons And Fairy Dust
I always wanted to try this, it looks fun but muddy. My son has been but the bike was too small for me!
The first time we did it there was no sign of mud, but the second time there was loads – and I have to admit it was loads more fun in the mud!!

Shame

Quad bike in Safari amazing dreams come true
We had an amazing time, There was a lovely atmosphere or staff was amazing and helpful… The lodge had everything we needed in it and three squirrels in the back garden as well as the birds… The food was fabulous in all the restaurants we tried all of them and the cocktails was amazing…
