Adventure Of The Seas Itineraries

Adventure of the seas review, review of adventure of the seas.

The 2001-built Adventure of the Seas cruise ship is the 3rd Voyager-class Royal Caribbean liner, with sisterships Explorer OTS , Navigator OTS , Mariner OTS , Voyager OTS .

The vessel (IMO number 9167227) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311263000) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is a US passenger shipping company, trademarked travel brand and subsidiary owned by Royal Caribbean Group (RCG/shipowner). RCI was established in 1968 and currently has over 1/5 of the worldwide cruise market. RCI also has RCG's largest fleet by both vessel number and GT tonnage (ship sizes and capacities).

All RCI liners have names ending with "of the Seas".

Adventure Of The Seas cruise ship (Royal Caribbean)

The 3700-passenger ship Adventure OTS has been bypassed in size and conveniences by the Freedom-class trio and the massive Oasis-class twins. However, it's still between the largest ships in the world, with a range of the most uncruise-like places at sea, like a rollerblading track, ice-skating rink and rock-climbing wall - not to mention the bustling hub Royal Promenade, which is a shopping mall-esque boulevard of retail shops, bars, clubs and cafes.

Decks and Cabins

Adventure Of The Seas staterooms (1691 total, in 33 grades) include 125 Suites, 650 Balcony, 242 OceanView, 138 Promenade View, 536 Inside. Most cabins are sized 150-160 ft2 (14-15 m2). Most cabin balconies are sized 50 ft2 (5 m2). The largest is Royal Suite (1090 ft2 / 101 m2 plus 215 ft2 / 20 m2 terrace with Jacuzzi). Wheelchair-accessible cabins are 27.

The boat has 15 decks , of which 14 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins.

Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks

From the meals in the three main dining rooms to the buffet choices in Windjammer Cafe and options available at 24-hour Cafe Promenade, food aboard Adventure OTS is well prepared with plentiful choices, especially considering the ship's capacity. The main dining rooms offer flexible "My Time Dining" during dinner. Guests can choose between assigned early or late dining, or opt for flexible dining.

Windjammer is the ship's buffet restaurant with an egg station at breakfast and a carving station at lunch. Vegetarians will do better in the MDR at lunch. The Windjammer, however, is an option for the nights when flexibility is expected. The buffet features the items offered on the main dining room menu. The Italian-themed Giovanni’s Table charges a US$20 per-person cover charge (specialty beverages, wine, beer and soda are paid separately), and offers a multi-course meal. Johnny Rockets is another speciality eatery, 1950's-style burger joint, where passengers can indulge in hot dogs, burgers, chilli fries and onion rings.

Follows the complete list of Adventure of the Seas restaurants and food bars.

  • Vivaldi Restaurant (544-seat aft Dining Room with fixed seating for Dinner)
  • Strauss Restaurant (502-seat aft, dinner only Dining Room, with two fixed seatings)
  • Mozart Restaurant (544-seat aft, dinner-only Dining Room, with Club Dining at 6 pm or 8:30 pm. and "Your Time Dining" 6-9:30 pm)
  • Windjammer Cafe Lido buffet restaurant (310-seat, offers Early Breakfast at 6:30 am, Breakfast between 7-11:30 am, Lunch 11.30-3:30 pm and Dinner 6.30-9 pm)
  • Johnny Rockets Restaurant (80-seat burger bar, an extra fee applied)
  • Giovanni’s Table (Italian specialty restaurant, reservations recommended)
  • Island Grill (454-seat).

Shipboard entertainment options - Fun and Sport

Atmosphere diversity is the key aboard Adventure of the Seas. The Lyric Theater has a great Art Nouveau interior; the solarium pool evokes the glories of Venice and the large Casino Royal centers on a Hollywood theme. The Duck and Dog Pub is ideal for Anglophiles, Champagne Bar is very stylish and Jester's Nightclub resonates with a Gothic vibe.

At night, Adventure of the Seas offers two kinds of entertainment - traditional-style productions (singing and dancing shows) presented in The Lyric, and goofy episodes like "Love and Marriage". Bar venues offer various musical performances aimed to please everybody at any time with classical guitar, jazz and country. Studio B Ice Rink hosts "Cool Art - Hot Ice" show. It is worth the effort to get a ticket (free of charge) but the venue is tiny, so tickets are limited.

Additional amenities include complimentary 24-hour Room-Service, supervised Youth program, Internet/WiFi Access, kids aqua park, FlowRider (surfing simulator).

Follows the complete list of Adventure of the Seas lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens and adults.

  • The Lyric Theatre (1362-seat, features two grand productions per night with dance, acrobatics, comedy and game shows)

During drydock 2016 refurbishment , on Adventure OTS (aft on Deck 13 ) was installed The Perfect Storm slides complex (“Cyclone” and “Typhoon”), first introduced on Liberty OTS  and  Harmony OTS . Adventure OTS became the first Voyager-class RCI ship with waterslides. On Deck 13 were also added the FlowRider (surfing simulator) and a 2-deck Mini-Golf Course (replacing the old 1-floor Adventure Dunes and the Inline Roller Skating Track).

The Perfect Storm is complimentary and includes 2 racer slides (“Cyclone” and “Typhoon”). Both spiraling slides are positioned portside and accessed via a 3-floor-high, glass-enclosed swirling staircase. There are no age restrictions, but there are passenger height and weight requirements - min 48 inches (122 cm) and max 300 lbs (136 kg).

Currently, Adventure OTS is RCI's only ship to have a Royal Promenade-located Izumi Restaurant (on deck 5). On the other Voyager-Class liners, Izumi is either on top-deck or on deck 4.

Itineraries

Adventure of the Seas itinerary program is based on roundtrips from homeports Galveston, Texas USA (to Western Caribbean/Mexico) and out of Cape Liberty NJ (NYC) to the Eastern Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada.

Following the Coronavirus crisis, for the period June 12th through September 11th (2021) RCI homeported Adventure OTS in Nassau Bahamas . The boat became RCI's first to restart operations. For the ex-Bahamas mini-season were scheduled 7-night roundtrips (not visiting ports in the USA) to Cozumel Mexico , Freeport (Grand Bahama) and CocoCay .

  • The unique for Royal Caribbean out-of-Bahamas voyages were offered as "fly-cruise" deals (flight+cruise packages), open for booking to customers of all nationalities, but with a limited number of shore excursions.
  • The previously planned Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona were canceled.
  • Traditionally for homeports, guests check-in at the cruise terminal then board the ship. However, for the Adventure OTS's ex-Bahamas season, RCI arranged the check-in to be conducted at British Colonial Hilton Nassau Hotel (downtown) from where passengers are transported to the ship.
  • For the airport transfers (from Lynden Pindling Airport to the Hilton Hotel) was contracted Nassau Airport Development Co (airport's operator). Bahamian companies were also hired for the hotel-to-ship luggage delivery.
  • All passengers had to bring passports, Bahamas Health travel visas, the original vaccination proof (copy), RT-PCR negative test results (for unvaccinated children). Kids under 10 yo were required to receive a SARS-Cov-2 test (prior to boarding the ship) and a rapid SAR-CoV-2 test onboard (complimentary, done on Day 6th of the voyage).

Adventure Of The Seas Wiki

Adventure OTS is one of Royal Caribbean's Voyager-class liners, with sisterships Explorer , Mariner , Navigator , Voyager . The vessel was constructed in 2001 in Finland by Aker Yards Oy, now part of STX Europe (a division of STX Holding / South Korea).

As one of the first passenger ships returning to NYC after the 9-11 attacks, Adventure OTS is in deep connection with New York City. As a tribute to the emergency services risking their lives to save other people, representatives of NYPD and FDNY gave the name of the ship - from FDNY (Kevin Hannafin and Tara Stackpole) and from NYPD (Richard Lucas and Margaret McDonnell). Ship's inaugural cruise (maiden voyage) started on November 18, 2001, out of San Juan Puerto Rico .

Adventure OTS ex-Nassau Bahamas cruises 2021 summer

Following the Coronavirus crisis, for the period June-August 2021, RCI homeported Adventure OTS in Nassau Bahamas. For the ex-Bahamas mini-season were scheduled 7-night roundtrips not visiting any ports in the USA.

7-day "Bahamas and Cozumel Cruise with 2 Days at Perfect Day" itinerary

Prices started from USD 1060 per person with double occupancy.

The unique for Royal Caribbean out-of-Bahamas voyages were offered as "fly-cruise" deals (flight+cruise packages), open for booking to customers of all nationalities, but with a limited number of shore excursions. The previously planned Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona were canceled.

Cruise 2018 itinerary changes due to drydocking

During the ship's 2016-2018 drydock refurbishment (USD 61 million renovation project) were added two waterslides (Cyclone, Typhoon), Splashaway Bay (waterpark), FlowRider, Izumi (Japanese restaurant), Chops Grille (steakhouse), Boleros Lounge, Suite Lounge, 100 new staterooms.

However, due to Hurricane Matthew, ship's drydock in Freeport Bahamas was only partially completed and finished in March 2018. To accommodate the 30-day dry-dock refurbishment in 2018 (January 31-March 1), RCI had to cancel all Adventure OTS 2018 cruises scheduled for the period January 13 - February 10.

Passengers booked on the affected itineraries were re-accommodated and offered as compensation the following package. USD 200 per cabin onboard credit, USD 400 per suite onboard credit (Junior Suite and above grades), flight change fee (due to airline reservation changes) up to USD 200 per person reimbursement for domestic / USA flights and USD 300 per person reimbursement for international flights.

The list of 2018 itinerary dates offered for rebooking was February 12, March 10, 17, April 7, 14. Substitute/alternative dates of departure were also offered on Jewel of the Seas - itineraries starting on January 14, 21, 28, February 4, 18, 25, March 4, 11.

Adventure Of The Seas refurbishments 2016-2018 review

Ship’s drydock 2016 refurbishment (October 17 – November 13) resulted in the following deckplan changes:

Adventure Of The Seas waterslides

  • On Sports Deck 13, the RCI’s signature waterslides “Cyclone” and “Typhoon” were installed. This made Adventure the first Voyager-class Royal Caribbean ship with water slides. Also on deck 13, a FlowRider (surfing simulator) was installed. Also here, a new 2-story mini-golf course was added (replacing the old 1-level Adventure Dunes).
  • On Spa Deck 12 (aft), the new “Splashaway Bay” kids aqua park was added. This is a new-design interactive water play area with cannons and geysers. It replaced the old Adventure Beach (outdoor kids playground).
  • The new water park and the duo of waterslides were first introduced on the RCI ships Liberty of the Seas and Harmony of the Seas (Oasis-class).
  • Izumi (Japanese cuisine / sushi restaurant /a la carte priced) was added on deck 5 (starboard).
  • Chops Grille (steakhouse restaurant offering dry-aged beef steaks) was added on deck 4 (portside).
  • Boleros Lounge & Bar (Latin-themed entertainment) was added also on deck 4 (portside).
  • Over 100 new cabins were added, including spa staterooms (all oceanview) forward on deck 12. All the staterooms were renovated.
  • New exclusive Suite Lounge was added on deck 14 (portside).
  • RCI's budget for the Adventure OTS drydock refit and refurbishment was the impressive USD 61 million.

RCI scaled back some planned renovations due to damages at Grand Bahamas Shipyard (Freeport) caused by Hurricane Matthew. The ship exited drydock on Nov 14 (2016) as scheduled. Some of the planned changes were implemented - updated design and decor, renovated areas (Boleros, 2-story mini-golf course). However, there were ongoing works during the next 2016 cruises and into 2017-2018. Among those are:

  • Waterslides, FlowRider, Splashaway Bay - open on Dec 10, 2016.
  • Chops Grille (Deck 4 port side, across Schooner Bar).) and the Suite Lounge both open in March 2018. Also during the ship's 2018 drydock (February) will be added new inside and oceanview cabins.
  • Izumi and new staterooms will not be added.
  • Giovanni's Table offered select items from the Chops Grille menu until the steakhouse's opening in 2017.
  • On Deck 2 were added 5 Studio Interior cabins (category J). These staterooms are for solo travellers and are bookable without single supplement fees.

Passengers booked in the not yet built new staterooms were contacted by RCI Customer Service team representatives for re-accommodating. Passengers booked in Panoramic Oceanview cabins were offered free upgrades to balcony rooms plus USD 100 per cabin in onboard credit. All passengers booked on 2016 cruises (leaving between Nov 14 - Dec 3) were offered 25% Future RCI Cruise Credit based on the paid fares.

Adventure OTS refurbishment 2014 review

The list of deckplan changes after April 2014 drydock refurbishment included:

  • Cabin amenities were upgraded – new flat TVs in all cruise staterooms were added.
  • Digital signage (wayfinders) on several decks were installed. These touch-screen boards allow you to know your way around the ship.
  • Wi-Fi coverage was upgraded (now shipwide).
  • On Lido Deck 11 (in the main pool area) a huge movie screen (outdoor theatre) was installed.
  • On Spa Deck 12 the Royal Caribbean’s signature Nursery was added.
  • On deck 14 the “Diamond Club” lounge was added. This is a signature venue for “Crown & Anchor” (RCI loyalty program) members only.

New dining options (at additional charge) were introduced. These are “Giovanni’s Table” (Italian trattoria restaurant on deck 11) and “The Cupcake Cupboard” (ship bakery shop on Promenade deck 5).

If you have plans to cruise on Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas , we have just put together this complete guide to everything you need to know before cruising on Adventure of the Seas from the Bahamas this summer. As more information becomes available, we will continue to update this post.

Everything You Need to Know Before Cruising on Adventure of the Seas in Summer 2021

Adventure of the seas will cruise from the bahamas this summer.

Given the current restrictions on cruising from the United States, cruise lines have decided to resume sailings from other North American homeports. These include the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Caribbean. All nationalities are able to book these cruises.

Royal Caribbean to cruise from the Bahamas this summer on Adventure of the Seas - Cruising on Adventure of the Seas

Royal Caribbean’s Adventure of the Seas will sail from its new homeport of Nassau, Bahamas this summer, beginning June 12th.

Adventure of the Seas’ 7-day itinerary will include two back-to-back days on Perfect Day at CocoCay as well as visits to Grand Bahama Island and Cozumel, Mexico .

There’s So Much to Do on Perfect Day at CocoCay

Perfect Day at CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s recently updated private island in the Bahamas. While some of the attractions do cost extra money, there are still plenty of things to do on the island that are complimentary. The best news is that the Royal Caribbean Deluxe drink package also works on CocoCay.

Top Things to Do on Perfect Day at CocoCay

During the two days at Royal Caribbean’s private island, you can enjoy the  Thrill Waterpark  featuring the tallest slide in North America. You can also partake in a  zipline adventure  or soar above the island in the Up, Up, & Away helium balloon.

You can also enjoying the sprawling beaches or perhaps upgrade your experience by booking the exclusive Coco Beach Club.

There Is a Vaccine Requirement

Summer 2021 cruises on Adventure of the Seas will sail with a fully vaccinated crew. They will also only be available to vaccinated adult guests and children under the age of 18 with a negative test result within 72 hours of embarkation. This means that guests must have completed the full cycle of required doses and have received the final dose at least 14 days before sailing.

At this time, these vaccine requirements are ship/destination specific and are not mandated fleetwide on Royal Caribbean.

You Must Have a Passport

U.S. citizens can typically cruise to destinations like the Bahamas, Bermuda, and the Caribbean  without a passport  provided it is a closed loop cruise (a cruise that begins and ends in the same U.S. port).

things you should never do on a cruise

However, given that these Summer 2021 cruises on Adventure of the Seas are embarking outside the United States, a passport will be required. You will need to present a passport to enter the Bahamas, as well as to return home to the United States.

Further, your passport should have an expiration date that is at least 6 months after you sailing’s return date.

You Will Need a COVID Test

UPDATE: As of May 1st, vaccinated individuals will no longer need a COVID test to travel to the Bahamas .

The Bahamas is currently requiring negative pre-travel tests to enter the country. The United States also currently requires a test to re-enter from an international flight.

Get Exclusive Deals on Adventure of the Seas Cruises!

Of course, these requirements could change for vaccinated individuals in the coming months. So, if you are planning one of these summer 2021 cruises, you will need to stay up to date on the latest travel requirements.

You should also expect to have a rapid antigen COVID test taken at embarkation by the cruise line. Further, Royal Caribbean has indicated that it will offer free COVID testing for Americans to fly home prior to disembarking its ships (if still required).

You Will Need to Comply with Bahamas Travel Requirements

Each international embarkation port has its own travel requirements that cruisers will need to meet in order to enter the country. These requirements will be in addition to the requirements of the cruise line.

For the Bahamas, everyone traveling to the country must receive a negative PCR test result before arrival (this requirement ends as of May 1st). Travelers will also need to apply for a Travel Health Visa which includes mandatory COVID-19 health insurance.

The cost of the visa is dependent on your length of stay.

royal caribbean cruise compass adventure of the seas

The most current policies for Bahamas cruises are available at the Bahamas  website .

Royal Caribbean has indicated that they will communicate with guests in the 30 days before their sail date to ensure they know the latest travel requirements.

You Will Need to Abide By All Health and Safety Measures

In alignment with its Healthy Sail Panel’s recommendations , Royal Caribbean will institute a number of health and safety protocols on its ships. Of course, all guests are expected to abide by these new protocols.

While not explicitly stated for Adventure of the Seas summer 2021 cruises yet, guests can assume these measures will include social distancing and face mask requirements.

If we look to ships currently sailing, face coverings will be required at most times while on the cruise. The exceptions will be when seated at socially distanced venues and actively eating or drinking. Masks will not be required in situations where they could get wet, like swimming pools and waterslides. Of course, you won’t have to wear a mask in your stateroom either.

Related Post: Guide to Royal Caribbean Ship Classes

The one instance that is still somewhat in question is whether you will need to wear a mask when seated at a socially distanced lounger on the pool deck. If we look to Norwegian Cruise Line’s Sail SAFE measures, this line will require masks outdoors only when social distancing is not possible.

The Cruise Line App Will Be Even More Important

Before sailing on Adventure of the Seas, you should definitely download the cruise line app to your smartphone. This app will allow for a safer and smoother cruise experience.

Added features include notifications, online check-in, the new online Guest Safety Briefing required of all guests, and the Guest Health, Safety, and Conduct Policy. The app also provides ship maps, guest to guest chat, the ability to make reservations, a digital copy of the Cruise Compass, and more.

Summer 2021 Cruises

Further, guests will need to complete the Royal Caribbean Health Questionnaire, available ONLY in the app 24 hours before sailing.

Review Your Cabin Options

When researching staterooms on Adventure of the Seas, you should know that cabins are grouped into different categories based on square footage and amenities.

It is also important to note that even within each cruise cabin category, there are often subcategories. These are usually based on the location of the cabin.

For instance, the most expensive rooms in a given category tend to be midship. Also, rooms on higher decks or near public venues will cost more.

Regardless of category, the cheapest option will usually be a  “guaranteed” cabin . This means that you will receive a room within that given category but don’t actually get to pick your exact room. The cruise line will assign you a cabin a few weeks before your cruise.

If you don’t care too much about location, this is a great way to save some money.

BOOK NOW: Exclusive Savings on Royal Caribbean Cruises

On Adventure of the Seas, you will find your typical Inside, Oceanview, Balcony , and Suite categories. A unique interior cabin option is the Promenade View , which has a window that overlooks the Royal Promenade. There is also a Spacious Panoramic Oceanview, which is located forward on the ship. This stateroom offers a window much larger that the typical porthole sized windows.

When it comes to Suites, your options are Junior Suites, Oceanview Panoramic Suites (no balcony), 1 and 2 bedroom Grand Suites, and the Owner’s Suite.

Know Your Dining Options

One of our favorite parts of a cruise is the dining. We are traditionalists that enjoy the set dining time (early seating for us) as we enjoy having the same table and same waitstaff for the entire cruise.

On Adventure of the Seas, the early dining time is 5:30 pm and the late is 8 pm.

The line does also offer the flexible My Time Dining. Either way, you should know which type of dining you prefer as you will need to choose at the time of booking your cabin.

My Time Dining can be booked pre-cruise or once onboard between 7-9 pm.

Cruising Adventure of the Seas

Adventure of the Seas is also home to some signature specialty restaurants including the classic Chops Grille, Izumi Sushi, and Giovanni’s Table. These restaurants book up quickly, so you should try to make any specialty restaurant reservations before you board the ship as well.

Pre-Purchase the Deluxe Beverage Package

In your pre-cruise planner, you will regularly see deals on many upgrades and packages. Usually, you can score discounts on shore excursions, internet, and dining. It is up to you whether you want to purchase any of these up-charges.

However, if you believe you will consume at least 6 alcoholic beverages a day, then you should definitely pre-book the Deluxe Beverage Package.

Once onboard the ship, the price for the package will cost you more money.

Book Shore Excursions Early

Based on recommendations from the  Healthy Sail Panel  and the success of other cruise brands sailing in other parts of the world, cruisers on Adventure of the Seas are currently only allowed off the ship at ports of call on approved shore excursions.

These cruise line sponsored excursions will ensure guests are protected when going ashore. The cruise line will ensure that transfers are properly sanitized and that there is adequate space.

Cruising Adventure of the Seas

Further, tour guides and drivers will also undergo health screenings and wear appropriate PPE.

Thus, it is important to book these shore excursions early. Once they sell out, you will have no other options for touring your ports of call! Do know that as of right now, shore excursion options are a bit limited.

Of note, you will need to stick with the shore excursion group at all times. Cruisers on other ships already sailing have been denied re-boarding for failure to comply with these rules!

Plan a Pre-Cruise Hotel Stay

We always recommend starting your vacation a day early as bad weather, flight delays, or other travel disruptions could start your trip off on the wrong foot. This is especially true when flying internationally now with all the added precautions in place.

While Adventure of the Seas will not depart from the Bahamas until 9 pm, we still recommend a pre-cruise stay in Nassau. If you are searching for the perfect pre-cruise hotel for Adventure of the Seas, here are our top picks .

The New Normal Packing Tips

Packing is both an art and a science. If you need some guidance, we have put together a complete  Packing Guide for the Caribbean . We also have a list of essentials that should be included in your cruise carry-on .

Remember, you won’t see your luggage for several hours. If you are bringing bottles of wine onboard the ship, they should also be packed in your carry-on luggage.

For cruising in 2021, it is more important than ever to make sure you have sufficient supplies of meds and other necessities just in case. We also recommend packing your own hand sanitizer, several face masks, and disinfectant wipes/spray.

Navigator of the Seas Cruise Tips

Even though there will be stringent cleaning measures in place, we will still sanitize high traffic touch points in our cabin and disinfect items such as our phones frequently during the trip. We followed similar routines during our visits to Disney World during the pandemic .

Complete Cruise Check-In Early

One of our strategies on embarkation day has always been to arrive to the port early. In previous times, cruisers who arrived early would be among the first to board the ship and get their vacation started.

Sadly, this will not be an option when cruising right now. Royal Caribbean will require individuals to check-in online prior to the cruise for a smooth and contactless embarkation process. Further, cruisers will receive an assigned boarding time to facilitate a staggered embarkation in order to reduce crowds in the terminals.

Once you make your final payment, make sure to do the online check-in as early as possible. This will give you the best chance at receiving an early embarkation time slot.

Currently, it is unclear when cruisers can complete this check-in process for these summer cruises. We are on the first sailing (50 days away as of this recent post update) and check-in is still not available. It is speculated that check-in will be at 30 days when Royal Caribbean has committed to updating guests on final travel requirements.

Also, don’t forget to print out your luggage tags.

Muster Drill Will Be Digital

Once cruising resumes, Royal Caribbean will introduce a brand new approach to muster drills . Muster drills are an important part of ensuring guests’ safety, but the traditional format certainly does not promote social distancing.

So, Royal Caribbean will debut its Guest Safety Briefing on Adventure of the Seas. This patented system streamlines the traditional muster process, making the key elements of the safety drill available right on your mobile device or stateroom TV. This safety briefing will include what to expect, where to go in case of an emergency, and how to properly use a life jacket.

After reviewing this safety information on your own, guests will complete the drill by visiting their assigned assembly station on the ship. Here, a crew member will verify that all steps have been completed in a non-group format.

Skip the Windjammer for Lunch

Historically speaking, the Windjammer can be chaotic on embarkation day. We suggest skipping it all together and opting for other casual (or specialty) options instead. Additional venues that are open on embarkation day include Cafe Promenade, Johnny Rocket’s, and Chops Grille.

Cruising Adventure of the Seas

Cafe Promenade is open with freshly made pizzas (since there is no Sorrento’s) and pre-made sandwiches. The up-charge casual venue, Johnny Rockets, is also open for lunch on embarkation day. Lastly, you can opt for lunch at Chops Grille. The advertised pre-cruise price for our sailing is $22.99.

Ride the Perfect Storm on Embarkation Day or a Port Day

Among some of the newer features on Adventures of the Seas are the duo of waterslides, the Perfect Storm. In our experience, the lines are the shortest for these rides on embarkation day or on a port day.

The lines also tend to be shorter earlier in the day. This is even true on sea days if that is the only time you can ride the slides.

The same logic applies to other attractions on Adventure of the Seas like the Flowrider surf simulator, the mini-golf, and ice skating in Studio B. Try to utilize these activities during off-peak times to avoid the crowds.

You Can Access the Helipad

You can grab some of the most epic photos from the ship’s Helipad, especially during sail away or while docked at a port of call. Cruisers can access this area via the outdoor walkways on Deck 5. Head all the way forward and utilize the stairs to find yourself at this secluded outdoor area.

Once there, grab some Instagram-worthy shots from this unique perspective.

royal caribbean cruise compass adventure of the seas

Registers the Kids for Adventure Ocean

If you are cruising with the family, you will want to head to Adventure Ocean to register your kids on embarkation day. Adventure Ocean is Royal Caribbean’s youth drop-off program for children aged 3-17 years old.

Adventure Ocean allows your kids to engage in educational and fun activities during the cruise that are age appropriate.

Related Post: Everything Included on Royal Caribbean

With groups consisting of ages 3-5 years, 6-8 years, and 9-11 years, your little ones will be supervised by trained staff as they participate in various edutainment offerings. There are also activities for teens 12-14 years and 15-17 years old. From sports tournaments, to scavenger hunts, and video games, they will never want to leave.

Make Use of the Cruise Compass

The Cruise Compass is a daily activity booklet that is left in your room each evening (or on your smartphone app). It is your source for all the information you need while sailing on Adventure of the Seas. It provides hours of operation for all the restaurants and bars as well as a list of all the daily activities.

From dance classes, demonstrations, and trivia during the day to game shows, live music, and signature shows in the evenings, your Cruise Compass will provide all of the times that these events are occurring.

royal caribbean cruise compass adventure of the seas

This magazine also provides other helpful info like which port you will be visiting next, the all aboard times, and the weather forecast.

Gratuities Will Be Extra

While your cruise fare does cover quite a bit, there will be an additional daily service charge for each guest. These per person, per day charges will be added to your onboard cruise account (or you can opt to pre-pay them online prior to the cruise).

The service charge on Royal Caribbean ships is $14.50 per person, per day for guests in Junior Suites and below. Or, $17.50 per person, per day is charged to guests in Grand Suites and above. This fee is applied to each guest’s SeaPass account on a daily basis.

These charges go towards the hardworking staff on the ship including your stateroom attendant, wait staff, bar servers, and various other crew.

In addition, an 18% gratuity is automatically added to all beverages, mini bar items, and spa & salon purchases. This is on top of the cruise gratuity charges.

Some Loyalty Benefits May Be on Pause

Royal Caribbean’s loyalty program for repeat customers is the Crown and Anchor Society. This tiered program offers cruisers more and more perks as they work their way up the ranks.

To facilitate social distancing, some of these perks may be temporarily modified or suspended. These perks include priority boarding, the private departure lounge, top tier events, and behind the scenes tours.

Additionally, Diamond members and above normally have access to the Diamond Lounge where they receive nightly free drinks. On these Adventure of the Seas summer sailings, the Diamond Lounge will be open but only at reduced capacity. Thus, drink vouchers will be on your SeaPass card instead.

Cruisers can use these vouchers any time during the day on any drinks that are within the typical drink package allotment.

We are booked! We have stood strong with RCCL throughout this difficult time and waited , sometimes impatiently, for this day. Cruises to Greece, the deep southern and both eastern and western have all been cancelled. As Diamond Plus, we cruise frequently and through no fault of the cruise lines, it’s been a disappointing year! But it’s over now and the sun is about to shine! Can’t wait to fly in, board the ship and enjoy a sense of normalcy! See you all there!

Good morning….just a quick question….will the RC app on board the Adventure of the Seas have guest to guest chat features?? My travel agent didn’t think it did….I would rather not buy the Voom package, which I would only be buying to keep in contact with my family on board the ship! We sail in late July 2021.

I know it says that I sailed because I didn't know how to change it when I changed my date, but I am sailing on AOS in September and I would love a copy of the compass and menu Thanks in advance.

[email protected] :) :) :)

We are sailing in October for the first time on AOS and I would love one as well! Thanks! :)

I think you may have created a monster here, but I would like a copy also.

[email protected]

Ok I am not going to ask for the menus for each day since I am sure the person that first offered it is now regretting it.:D But, for all of those who received them, can you tell me for the Aruba route which day is escargot and which day is lobster night? It's not the end of the world if I miss them, but I enjoy them so much I really hate to book Portofinos the same night they are serving them.

If anyone would be willing to forward them along, I would really appreciate it! We are sailing late September for our 10th anniversary.

Thanks in advance!

[email protected]

I would love to have a copy of the Compass also, we are going on AOS 10/19/08.

If you don't have the time I understand.

Ultrawealthy cruising: See inside Royal Caribbean's most extravagant upgrades and a $100,000-a-week cabin on its Icon of the Seas

It's a cool cruise ship — one that will overwhelm you so much, you'll end up retreating to your tiny cabin more than you expected.</p><p>Love it or hate it, the 250,800-gross-ton vessel is here and hard to ignore. At 1,198 feet-long and 20 decks tall, the Icon of the Seas and its rainbow spaghetti-like water park stands out from its comrades at <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/things-about-royal-caribbean-icon-of-the-seas-2024-1">Miami's bustling cruise terminal</a>.</p><p>Get used to the sight: The new world's largest cruise ship will be homeported there for a year of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/royal-caribbean-icon-of-the-seas-trip-price-expensive-2023-11">seven-night cruises</a>.</p><p>Looking at a ship of its size, it's hard not to wonder: Has science gone too far? • Cruise giants are putting more "pay-to-play" amenities on their new ships.
  • Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas has high-end upcharge options like a $200-per-person dinner.
  • See what a vacation on the world's largest cruise ship is like for affluent travelers.

Are you looking to ball out on your weeklong vacation aboard the world's largest cruise ship ? Get ready to pay $200 for dinner and $100,000 for a cabin.

Vacations-at-sea can be a fairly affordable vacation option. With most cruise lines, your base fare already includes accommodations, unlimited food, endless activities, and the opportunity to see several destinations in one go.

But as more " pay-to-play " amenities show up on board, the more pricey these floating vacations could become. And there's likely no better example of this than Royal Caribbean's new world's largest cruise ship.

Forget tiny interior cabins and dinners at the buffet. On the 9,950-person Icon of the Seas, affluent travelers could have a vacation that rivals even the most luxurious small-ship cruise .

<p>The mega-ship's high-end suites range from 402 to 2,523 square feet, balconies included.</p><p>Some come with sweeping views of the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/royal-caribbean-icon-of-the-seas-shows-cruise-bookings-surging-2024-3">AquaTheater</a>. No need to scramble for the best seats when you can watch the show's divers, synchronized swimmers, and aerialists from your couch.</p>

Guests interested in luxuriating in one of Icon’s 179 suites will be paying a minimum of $4,614 per person for a weeklong sailing.

The mega-ship's high-end suites range from 402 to 2,523 square feet, balconies included.

Some come with sweeping views of the AquaTheater . No need to scramble for the best seats when you can watch the show's divers, synchronized swimmers, and aerialists from your couch.

<p>Guests in the most luxurious suites also get Starlink WiFi, laundry services, the best seats for on board shows, and a "Royal Genie" to help plan their trip.</p>

Others, like the floor-to-ceiling window-lined Icon Loft, are spread across two floors.

Guests in the most luxurious suites also get Starlink WiFi, laundry services, the best seats for on board shows, and a "Royal Genie" to help plan their trip.

<p>The most expensive two-story <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/icon-of-the-seas-ultimate-family-townhouse-75000-week-photos-2023-2">Ultimate Family Townhouse</a> is being booked for between $100,000 to $200,000 a week, according to a Royal Caribbean worker stationed at the cabin.</p><p>Despite this hefty cost, the eight-guest cabin is already reserved for most of 2024.</p>

But few compare to Icon’s most expensive cabin, the 2,523-square-foot Ultimate Family Townhouse.

Guests in the three-floor floating mansion get to wake up to sweeping ocean views and coffee on one of the three balconies.

The bottom floor has an open-air patio that opens into Icon's Surfside neighborhood.

The two bedrooms — one with a bunk bed — are back inside on the top floor.

Looking to watch a movie or flex your karaoke skills? Slide down to the second floor, where you can do just that at one of the several lounges.

<p>But a cruise ship worker stationed at the <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/icon-of-the-seas-ultimate-family-townhouse-75000-week-photos-2023-2">Ultimate Family Townhouse</a> in January told BI that some guests have been snatching up the multilevel townhouse for a whopping $200,000 a week, noting that the playground-like cabin was mostly booked for 2024.</p>

A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean told Business Insider that travelers have been 'quickly' reserving the giant cabin for an average of $100,000 a week.

But a cruise ship worker stationed at the Ultimate Family Townhouse in January told BI that some guests have been snatching up the multilevel townhouse for a whopping $200,000 a week, noting that the playground-like cabin was mostly booked for 2024.

<p>Only guests staying in suites can access the 60,924-square-foot retreat and its two restaurants, sundeck, hot tub, pool, and bar.</p>

The keycards to these plush suites also open up another exclusive side of the ship: the Suite Neighborhood.

Only guests staying in suites can access the 60,924-square-foot retreat and its two restaurants, sundeck, hot tub, pool, and bar.

<p>But frozen items — think prime rib, lobster, and fish — are received every two to three cruises.</p>

The list of exclusive restaurants doesn’t end there, of course.

More than half of the Icon of the Seas' 28 eateries come at an extra cost.

Some are more affordable, like Izumi at the Park's grab-and-go sushi window. For $10, hungry travelers can pick between seaweed salad and edamame, plus two choices of sashimi, nigiri, and rolls.

<p>"Ya like jazz?" Good. Empire Supper Club's multi-course meal pairs options like rabbit and oysters Rockefeller with cocktails and live jazz.</p>

Cruisers craving a formal, upscale dinner could instead reserve the rabbit-slinging $200-per-person Empire Supper Club.

The price is comparable to high-end, on-land Michelin-starred restaurants.

Empire Supper Club's American fare dinner flexes eight courses, a cocktail pairing, and live jazz. Appetizer options include butter-poached langoustine with Osetra caviar. For the main course, the aforementioned rabbit leg and loin could be a bun-tastic choice.

The latter will be paired with a New York Sour — not a hoppy beer.

<p>Expect to front New York City prices without a beverage package: The popular Rye and Bean bar serves coffee and tea-infused cocktails ranging from $12 to $14.</p>

There are 18 other places to drink on the ship. As usual, none are complimentary.

<p>Vacationing can be stressful. At the mega-ship's spa, guests can unwind with an almost $150 25-minute facial or a nearly $180 50-minute Swedish massage.</p><p>Or, book one of the exclusive casitas to relax with unobstructed ocean views.</p><p>A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean did not immediately respond to BI's request for casita pricing on Icon of the Seas. But for context, a casita on the cruise line's older Symphony of the Seas mega-ship can <a href="https://www.royalcaribbean.com/account/cruise-planner/category/onboardactivities?bookingId=anonymous&currencyCode=CAD&sailDate=20240809&shipCode=SY">cost</a> about $360 per day during a sea day.</p>

Looking for a pampering? Like alcohol, spa treatments are rarely complimentary on cruise ships.

Vacationing can be stressful. At the mega-ship's spa, guests can unwind with an almost $150 25-minute facial or a nearly $180 50-minute Swedish massage.

Or, book one of the exclusive casitas to relax with unobstructed ocean views.

A spokesperson for Royal Caribbean did not immediately respond to BI's request for casita pricing on Icon of the Seas. But for context, a casita on the cruise line's older Symphony of the Seas mega-ship can cost about $360 per day during a sea day.

<p>While there, guests can step into a harness to traverse one of the ship's most adrenaline-pumping activities: Crown's Edge. Expect to dangle 154 feet above the ocean when the floor unexpectedly drops from under your feet.</p>

Amenities like the six-slide waterpark and mini-golf course are complimentary to all guests.

But the same can't be said for Crown's Edge , one of the ship's most distinctive amenities.

Travelers must don a bulky jumpsuit and harness before they face their fear of heights at the thrilling agility course.

The half-walking, half-ziplining route, which leaves its sweaty-palmed participants dangling 154 feet above the ocean, could be completed in a minute or so.

That's $49 down the drain in one minute.

And why stop there when you can splurge during port days too?

Icon of the Seas will dock at Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay private island for all 2024 sailings.

As expected, the Caribbean getaway is full of upcharged activities.

Travelers with young children might want to drop $100 per head for an afternoon at the waterpark.

Meanwhile, those without kids can pay between $39 to $89 per person for a boozy day at the adult-only Hideaway Beach .

Nearby, the more exclusive beach club could be almost triple that cost.

<p>Ahead of its January 27 debut, Royal Caribbean invited me on a complimentary, three-night preview cruise on January 20.</p><p>Reading a list of <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/coolest-features-royal-caribbeans-new-largest-cruise-ship-2022-11">Icon of the Seas's amenities</a> is one thing — but seeing it brought to life is another beast.</p>

A weeklong trip on the new world's largest cruise ship could quickly become an ultra-luxurious vacation.

But even travelers looking to spend modestly might be shocked by the new ship's prices.

Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, told investors in 2023 that Icon's inaugural season had commanded more bookings at "materially higher rates" than any of its previous ship launches.

<ul class="summary-list"><li><a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/icon-of-the-seas-wonder-of-the-seas-royal-caribbean-2024-1">Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas</a> will begin its first seven-night sailings in January </li><li>The new world's largest cruise ship has unprecedented features like a six-slide water park.</li><li>These are the nine things travelers should know about what it's like on the new mega-ship.</li></ul><p>I was one of the first guests to sail on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/things-about-royal-caribbean-icon-of-the-seas-2024-1">Royal Caribbean's newest <strong>vessel</strong>: The $2 billion Icon of the Seas</a>, the world's largest cruise ship.</p><p>Yes, it was giant. Unfortunately, I spent most of my time lost and overwhelmed.</p><p>To prevent this for yourself, these are the nine things you should know before your <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/royal-caribbean-icon-of-the-seas-trip-price-expensive-2023-11">2024 Icon of the Seas vacation</a>.</p><div class="read-original">Read the original article on <a href="https://www.businessinsider.com/royal-caribbean-icon-of-the-seas-cruise-ship-top-tips-2024-1">Business Insider</a></div>

Patrick Scholes, a lodging and leisure research analyst at Truist Securities, told BI in late 2023 that new cruise liners generally command a 20% to 50% pricing premium.

Three months before Icon of the Seas' launch , he estimated the new vessel was priced at a premium of "at least 50% if not more."

At the time, the least expensive 2024 itinerary had started at $1,820 per person for an interior cabin.

Pricing has since increased by $17. That's $262 per person, per day, for a windowless stateroom.

And no, it doesn't come with access to the Suite Neighborhood.

Press Releases

A new summer anthem makes its way to australia in 2025-26.

SYDNEY, 10 April 2024 – A summer of memory making is on the horizon with Royal Caribbean International’s newly revealed 2025-2026 line-up from Australia. Holidaymakers have action-packed adventures in store, from shorter and bolder getaways to the Down Under debut of Anthem of the Seas in Sydney and Voyager of the Seas ’ long-awaited return when it arrives to its new home in Brisbane, Australia. The new line-up of 45 long and short getaways to the South Pacific, New Zealand and Australia, sailing between November 2025 and April 2026, are now open for bookings on Royal Caribbean’s website .

Royal Caribbean’s vice president and managing director of Australia and New Zealand, Gavin Smith, said: “Between the excitement of Anthem of the Seas making its Australian debut, Voyager’s return Down Under and more weekend getaways than ever before, the 2025-2026 summer season is one for the books. Every kind of holidaymaker can make memories in more ways than one with a varied line-up, from short getaways to a longer sailing from Asia, and new experiences like the show-stopping ‘We Will Rock You’ musical production, ice-skating shows and six exclusive family adventures created by Royal Caribbean and the Wiggly Friends.”

Anthem of the Seas – From Sydney

New to Australia, Anthem is the latest ship from Royal Caribbean to make its Down Under debut when it arrives to Sydney in November 2025. Adventurers can choose from 24 holidays, ranging from 3-to 18-nights , to explore top destinations across rugged New Zealand , the sunny Australian coast and the idyllic islands of the South Pacific .

On deck are more short getaways than ever before. With five 2- to 4-night coastal cruises, travellers can pack in more thrills – and memories – as they make the most of every day while at sea with family and friends, or they can enjoy a 5-night getaway that visits Hobart, Australia. Travellers can also relax on longer 9- to 12-night cruises to New Zealand , including a pair of festive 9- and 11-night sailings for Christmas and New Year celebrations .

Holidaymakers can look forward to adventures for all ages on Anthem , which include returning experiences from Quantum and Ovation of the Seas – like skydiving on RipCord by iFly , SeaPlex , the largest indoor activity space at sea; Latin-themed club Boleros , the English pub with pints from across the globe; and a variety of restaurants serving up a world of flavours, such as family-style Tuscan favourites at Jamie’s Italian . Sydney’s new hometown ship also brings world-class entertainment centre stage, with Royal Caribbean’s rendition of the Olivier Award-winning musical phenomenon “ We Will Rock You” , featuring Queen’s iconic hits; and American treats – such as shakes, burgers and more – from the retro-themed Johnny Rockets .

Voyager of the Seas – From Brisbane, Australia

Voyager will sail from Brisbane for the first time from December 2025, with 20 holidays to choose from and a new destination in the line-up – Luganville , Vanuatu. Travellers can also take their pick of more ways to play in the South Pacific by choosing from a series of 7- to 9-night sunny escapes to Noumea, New Caledonia, and Port Vila, Luganville and Mystery Island, Vanuatu, which includes two 8- and 9-night cruises over Christmas and the New Year.

For holidaymakers seeking a longer escape, they can choose a unique 12-night adventure from Singapore to Australia in December. The destinations in store include Benoa, Bali , and Darwin and Airlie Beach, Australia. Plus, there are as many as 10 shorter 4-, 6- and 7-night holidays that visit Airlie Beach and Cairns, Australia , on the sun-drenched coast of Queensland.

There is a variety of ways for everyone to play on Voyager, including racing family and friends on The Perfect Storm , three storeys of two high-speed waterslides with twisting turns and thrills; ice skating at Studio B , putting at mini golf ; and competing in glow-in-the-dark laser tag at Battle for Planet Z . Lighting up the stage and night is jaw-dropping entertainment like “ Ice Odyssey ”, where professional ice skaters bring the magic and mystery of tarot cards to life, and famous Broadway show tunes in “ Broadway Rhythm & Rhyme ”.

The Ultimate Wiggly Adventure

The summer also brings the debut of six Wiggly Sailings , exclusive to Royal Caribbean and featuring the Wiggly Friends , across Anthem and Voyager. Bringing the ultimate family holiday to life is the combination of signature Royal Caribbean family experiences and the excitement and adventures of The Wiggles that inspire wonder and discovery. Young kids and their loved ones can look forward to character events , live concerts , exclusive Royal Caribbean x The Wiggles merchandise and more.     More details on the newly opened 2025-2026 season in Australia and New Zealand are available on Royal Caribbean’s website .
