I cannot say enough good things about Sacred Journey Hospice. From the moment they became involved with the admittance of my mother to home hospice to the actual care that they provided to her was nothing short of extraordinary. From the beginning they told us “We’re here for all of you, the entire family” and it didn’t take us long to realize not only was that true but also how much the family would come to appreciate that during this painful journey. Each member of their team was professional, kind and sympathetic toward our family and what we were all going through. My mother was only in their care for approximately 2 weeks however in that short period of time our nurse Anna became what felt like an extended part of our family. She showed my mother the grace and dignity she deserved as well guided the rest of the family through the process by answering our questions, explaining expectations, etc. I cannot imagine going through the process without Anna (Thank You Anna!)

Provider Response

My aunt is getting hospice care through Sacred Journey Hospice, and it is great. They are helping her with her medications and keeping her comfortable. They help with her bath and pretty much most of her needs. We are about a week into it. So far, I've been very pleased. They seem very caring. Medicare pays for everything. They came right away within 24 hours of my call. They responded right away. They are very accurate, very prompt, and very professional. I had several people who have used them and referred them, but also they have used the assisted living she is in. I could have chosen someone else, but I was pleased with them, so I stayed with them.

CNA was great, nursing staff ok. However the Social worker told me that my Mom would go home on Friday or Monday. Then nurse told me it had been decided to send my Mom home with home hospice care. I came in on Thursday to discuss her coming and no knew anything. I was told they would talk to the person that discharges and she would get back to me the same day. She did not. I called back that evening and nurse told me they were debating on how to arrange getting her to her bedroom as she is bedridden. I told the nurse that there was no bed, no oxygen, etc at my home as the equipment from another home hospice company had picked up their equipment once Scared Journey had taken over care. There has been no communication at all with them. Very disappointed as Piedmont Henry Hospital recommended them.

I was very impressed with the folks at Sacred Journey Hospice, we tried another provider that was associated with my mom's insurance and they were terrible...there is a world of difference from this group. We had no idea how quick we really needed them...but they made our last days with our mom less stressful and we knew they were providing great and spiritual comfort to us.

They came into our home to support and advise during my husband’s last three weeks of life. Everyone with whom we worked was wonderfully supportive, kind , and knowledgeable about the needs not only of my husband but of my needs as well. They guided , instructed, and gave great comfort to my husband and me. The nurses were all exceptionally smart and so accessible. Sacred Journey carried us through the experience with love and expertise. I am so grateful to all their staff with whom we worked. I cannot imagine a better hospice . It would have been much harder without Sacred Journey.

Sacred Journey family came in with compassion, efficiency and knowledge from the start. Team members were introduced quickly and became like instant family. I had access to cell phones and email addresses right away, so I never felt alone. If I had a question about my sister's care, the answer came quickly. In our short time of taking care of my little sister, I genuinely felt like I was surrounded by a team of angels. Carrie, Ticia, Gretta, Candice, Billy, Shonta, Angela-so glad that God connected our paths. Sacred Journey walked WITH us on this painful path, which was paved with love!

Sacred Journey Hospice program was wonderful and supportive to my mother and her family prior to her transition. They provided wonderful care and provided needed information in a most sensitive way to the family of what to expect along the journey.

The team that provided my mother-in-law's hospice care was phenomenal! Tameka (RN), Tika (CNA), Keith (Social Worker), and Anette (Chaplain) provided their services in a professional yet personal manner. My mother was cared for as if she was a VIP and for that my husband and I were very grateful. Everyone on the team was patient with our questions and addressed all of our concerns. Their professionalism included setting appointments, arriving on time, having all of the necessary equipment, knowledgeable about their specific areas of expertise, and treating my home and mother-in-law with the utmost respect! They were truly a blessing to my family.

My husband received home hospice services from Sacred Journey for the last year of his life and I could not recommend them more highly. Everyone involved - from our CNA Tonya, our nurse Cherylyn, our chaplain Alex and our social worker Bobby - to others on call, in the respite facility and offices - treated him as if he were part of their own family. Our team took the time to build a relationship with him and put him at ease with the care he was receiving. When I had to go back to work, I knew that he would be cared for until I came home. The team alerted me to any changes in his condition so I always knew what was going on. As his condition progressed, our chaplain counseled us both together and separately, allowing us to talk through what we were going through as both individuals and as a couple. Sacred Journey was not only there for him as he was preparing to move on, but also there to prepare me for losing him. In the end, I know that nothing was left unsaid between us and I have Sacred Journey to thank for that. Not only did he receive top rate physical/medical care, he was treated with kindness, respect and dignity until the very end.

They did everything they said they would do, and made our family feel like they really cared about us and my mom. Our nurse came for regular visits, but also came out whenever we called and needed help (even the weekend). We didn't use the chaplain because we have our own, but the social worker, CNA, and everyone else who came out were kind, professional, and helpful.

I was so pleased with everyone I dealt with while In my home. They were efficient, informative and incredibly kind. They made my husband's last days easy on both him and me. I highly recommend this wonderful company. I especially was grateful to Cynthia, the main nurse I dealt with.

My mother came to the McDonough location after being given a terminal diagnosis. She was there about 3 weeks before leaving this earth, so we had a real chance to see the entire staff. We sat a 24 hour per day death watch for the last 2 weeks of her life, so we saw everyone. I can assure anyone that asks, this place is actually better than its ads and web presence indicates! The charge nurse (Deb) had an abundance of compassion and ran a smooth ship. The shift nurses were astoundingly attentive (Lori & Tanya especially), and really cared about making their patient's days as easy as possible. All of the other staff worked HARD to be respectful of the family's needs, while attending to the patients care as well. Their attention to the palliative requirements were perfectly administered and quickly provided when things got really rough. In addition, the Chaplin staff provided great comfort, and when Catholic Sacraments were needed, they knew how to get the local parish to provide...No easy thing in the environment of COVID-19! I can only offer my family's thanks for a job well done and compassionately rendered!

Sacred Journey is a hospice facility in McDonough, GA. However, they do in-home care, as well. My brother received services from them in-home. I must say they were the kindest, most caring and proficient organization I have ever had the privilege to work with. The nurse, the social worker, and office staff were so helpful to him and provided him with support, in both emotional and medical issues. Anything he needed to make his life more comfortable, they provided and they did this within a very reasonable time frame. I just can’t praise them enough. Even after his death, they have provided his family with grief counseling. Amazing!!

Sacred Journey has been such a blessing to me and my family. They cared for my father for a long time before he passed in September 2019 and are currently taking great care of my mother. We have had the same nurse and social worker since the beginning and they have been so supportive and always available - day or night. They have been professional, compassionate and so helpful. No matter what I need, I ask them first. If it is something they can provide or help me with, they always do so in a timely manner, or they help me find out where I can get the help or support I need. My dads desire was to stay in his home until his last breath and because of the wonderful care that Sacred Journey, especially his nurse, gave him and the support she gave me in taking care of him, he was able to do just that.

December 30, 2019

Sacred Journey was truly a blessing for my family. Mother was with them for six months. She passed on December 19, 2019. The compassion from everyone at Sacred Journey was truly amazing. I can't praise the Newnan office enough. Mother's care team became family to me over the six months. The care team was always calling or giving me text message updates about Mother well past a normal 8 to 5 job. After suffering a broken hip Mother was released from hospice care in order to have surgery. Her health dereriorated quickly. Our account liaison worked miracles to bring Mother back under hospice care, ensuring her comfort kit was at the facility, and lining up continuous care during Mother's last days. With Sacared Journey she was able to die peacefully in familiar surroundings. From my experience with Sacred Journey it is a calling/ministry, much more than a job, for everyone that works for this great organization.

Terrible last memory of loved one

August 27, 2019

Unfortunately the hospital did not send the correct pharmacy script when the patient was transported. We were told at Sacred Journey a doctor would be in shortly to update her medication but it took 22 hours for him to see her. The patient had COPD and after the oxygen was removed, it took an hour to replace the oxygen. Since she had great trouble breathing, she was in great distress during that time. We felt that at times, the care needed took much longer to come than expected. We were disappointed in the care given to our loved one.

May 16, 2019

The nurses and aides from Sacred Journey were wonderful. They were so very kind and helpful during my husband's illness and his death. They told me exactly what to expect and they were right. Our RN was just a phone call away. I would recommend this facility to anyone.

March 18, 2019

My father was placed at Sacred Journey after an extensive hospital stay and they've been nothing but caring and compassionate. This has been a very difficult time for my family and they've helped carry the burden..from the social workers to the nurses, respiratory therapists, CNA's , Chaplain and receptionist. The staff here truly have the heart for their patients and families. God bless, Heather

January 16, 2019

The staff took excellent care of my mother during her stay there. They offered wonderful family support during her stay and after as well. It meant so much to have the personal care and encouragement given by the staff. I highly recommend this caring provider..

November 16, 2018

I visited this facility along with one other when my love one needed this type of care. I discussed with him before about the two places and I was happy when he said he was leaning towards going to Sacred Journey. I liked the idea of them preparing the meals on site and that they had cameras in the rooms so they could see the patient at all times. The whole staff were very caring, sufficient, friendly, and helpful answering all our questions. They gave very good care for my love one and I would recommend them to anyone. They also have an excellent grief support group that helps you through the aftermath.

May 2, 2018

Sacred Journey is exactly what the name says: a Sacred Journey that your loved one, family and the staff all take together. It's a journey that even though there are other clients there, the staff make you feel like it is just you and your loved one. This journey for us began with fear, uncertainty and lots of questions, but ended with the most peaceful amazing experience we could ask for. Every single person during our entire stay was patient, gentle and kind. The staff was there to help dry my tears during the emotional times, and most importantly listen to my fathers old war stories, and laugh at his jokes and defend his Dallas Cowboys. If you are ever faced with the decision of hospice for yourself or a loved one, please consider Sacred Journey. Life is a journey filled with all kinds of ups and downs, but we were blessed that my fathers final journey on earth was with the wonderful people at Sacred Journey.

I cannot find the words to describe how wonderful all the employees at scared journey staff were to my mother Evelyn, she passed away at dreamcatchers, in Jackson, we were able to get her home to dreamcatchers, with the help of sacred journey, the admit nurse was wonderful, the aide was so gentle with her, the social worker and Chaplin were angels to her and to her family.the only negative thing i need to say is her comfort kit did not arrive for 6 hours, she was agitated and in pain, and me, being her daughter was heartbroken, that i had nothing to help relieve her symptoms, the medication delivery certainally needs a overhaul, i hope they take a look at the system and fix it, i would not want to see another family endure that, the whole experience was awesome other that the medication delay, mayby there needs to be comfort kits in different locations, or a skeleton kit with the admitting nurse to allow the client to receive comfort , until the entire kit can arrive? I think if this issue can be resolved, you have a stellar operation and top notch employees.

All of the people my husband and I was I in contact with were Angels on earth. They are the kindest, most caring people in the world!! I thank God for the staff that helped us. I would highly recommend Sacred Journey Hospice to anyone who needs help during the hardest time of your life. My husband has since went home to be with Jesus but Sacred Journey is still in my life helping me learn to cope. They don't leave you alone to deal with things on your own. They are awesome people. They treated us like family.

March 31, 2017

I visited a friend at Sacred Journey years ago and was impressed with the way that he was treated. I was my mother's caretaker for nearly five years after she was diagnosed with renal disease. She suffered a fall early in September of 2016 and this accelerated her dementia. She was in the hospital and a rehab facility for weeks and became bedridden. Once her physicians determined nothing else could be offered, they recommended hospice. The very word itself was heartbreaking. This was the most difficult decision that I had ever made in my life. I am grateful that she was nearby enabling me to visit as often as I liked to. The staff was incredible and saw to her every need. They thoroughly explained each step of the process and answered all my questions and concerns. Once she transitioned, Chaplain Don and the staff were there to render help and support. Thanks to them all for caring for my mother during her last days with us..

Our father was a 74 yr old Vietnam Vet. The staff was so wonderful and respectful of our family, they treated him so well and helped make his transition from our world to his eternal resting place. I can't say thank you enough for what you guys do. Thank you

In January of 2016 my grandmother was admitted on to Scared Journey Hospice care for terminal cancer. My awesome step mother was able to care for her mother at home with the help of dear family and friends and the great , wonderful, and faithful care Scared Journey Hospice provided and equipment we so needed. On 02-11-2016 my grandmother told her daughter in the wee hours of the morning in her home that today was the day and she was ready to meet her maker and how wonderful her one and only child had been and the blessing she was to her. That day she became increasingly weaker by the moment and just six hours before her death Scared Journey brought our sweet lady to the in-patient unit to make sure her earthly passing and internal birth went well and boy did it! We as family were all there my sister , father, and my grandmothers best friend for over 45 years it was a bittersweet precious moment. Her passing was comfortable and peaceful everything her family and her daughter could ask for truly. On a more personal note I have a close professional relationship with Scared journey because I am the Executive Director for a local Assisted Living and we work hand in hand caring for my residents as a team. It would have been very easy to expect me or ask me to help in her care but they did not they allowed me to be a family member to my loved one but also caring for me and my family's emotions they were wonderful and myself and I know my whole family is so thankful. We will never forget the care ,the love, and understanding. THE HESTER AND CHEATWOOD FAMILY!

My mom went into Sacred Journey Hospice back in July 2014. Our experience from the time we entered until the time we departed in March 2016 has been an amazing time. Everyone and I do mean everyone that came into contact with our family has been very compassionate, caring, professional, loving, and amazing. If I had to rate Sacred Journey I would give them 110% because they went beyond the call of duties. They made sure that any and everything that we needed was provided. My mom was in-home hospice but on occasions she would go into the facility. The facility was always very clean!! I LOVE Sacred Journey Hospice and i would definitely refer my friends and family to them! I can go on and on about how wonderful this place is!!!!!!!

My 94 year old, father who was a WWII Veteran, received care from Sacred Journey Hospice prior to his death in 2014. The care and Chaplin Services provided by Sacred Journey Hospice, assisted our family in keeping my father at home. The aftercare provided guidance through the grief process for a year following my father's death. Our family benefited from verbal as well as written correspondences, A Memorial Service and a day long grief Camp for our 7 year old grandson, provided an opportunity for our family to bring closure. Thank you Sacred Journey Hospice and may God continue to Bless each of you who bring comfort through a difficult experience.

Times of grief and sadness pull our hearts toward God as we look for comfort and relief. I would like to thank the staff at Sacred Journey Hospice, from the nurses to the social worker for the care that was provided to my husband during his time of illness .They were very professional and knowledgeable in caring for him .As he was going through his transitional stages I knew what to expect because they taught me the different stages of transition. Because of their teaching I was able to cope with my husband death. I would highly recommend Sacred Journey Hospice, to provide care for your love ones. Deloris J. Hicks

When you hear the word Hospice - you panic - because you don't know what it really is. My husband was referred to Sacred Journey Hospice by VA because of his terminal condition. They were angels sent to us by God to assist us in our every day lives to cope with his illness. They have given us any help we needed and always available to assist at any time. The nurses and nurses aides that come to us are all very caring and compassionate and concerned about his health and what can they do to make it better. Sacred Journey has been able to provide more than we could have ever imagined to make this transition easier. I would highly recommend Sacred Journey.

February 28, 2016

I took it upon myself to read the book, Being Mortal by Gawande, before my mother was at the end of her life. She told me what was important to her through an advance directive as she could not speak about this without being very emotional. I am thankful for that document, as it allows me to understand that she wants comfort at the end of her life, not trying to cure her from inevitable death. Sacred Journey is our partner on this journey. When the nurse came to her assisted living home to meet with all of us, mother was concerned that she was not actively dying- the nurse explained that if you meet the criteria because of your terminal disease, it's better to get to know your providers before you are on that final few weeks, so there is trust and understanding. We agreed, and mother was admitted. She needed extra care from a fall the next day, and her injury was handled swiftly and professionally, with a minimum of pain and fear. Sacred Journey staff has continued to walk with us every step of the way on this journey to the other side, and are compassionate. Going on service before the last month is such an advantage as the family understands more of the dying process and are is left with unresolved anger. Sacred Journey has made this a time of peace instead of struggle. Thank you all!

Such a loving and amazing group of Angels! Thank you so much! Sacred Journey has been just that to my father and myself as his caregiver for 8 months. Like a weight lifted from my shoulders and a gift from God! Thank you For your support and loving hugs!

I am a past client of this provider. I cared for my father at home. He was admitted to Sacred Journey's care under the VA. because of his medical condition. As his primary care taker it was a challenge but with the help of Sacred Journey staff and nurses it made it easy for me to cope and maintain. It was like they were part of the family very professional. I would recommend their service to anyone that was in search of Hospice care.

February 27, 2016

My late husband was a patient of Sacred Journey for about 6 months, the majority of his care was given at home but on a few occasions he went into the unit for care. The entire staff was wonderful to us and both of our families that would visit him there. In November of 2014 we (I say we because I was allowed to stay with him) went into the unit and stayed until he passed away in December. We were treated with love, care and respect his entire stay. I still receive phone calls and letters from the staff there checking to see how I am doing. I am proud to call them my friends.

Ruby's Friend

I came to visit a friend who was in her final days. I only came 2 times as she was only there 3 days. Each time I was there I was greeted warmly, and asked how I was doing. My friend was shown respect and treated with tender care. I have nothing but good things to say!

My family member has been fortunate enough to be in the care of Sacred Journey for almost 2 years and still counting. I have had pleasurable encounters with several of their RN's, LPN's, CNA's, case managers, their Chaplan and several other staff members. Everyone has always been very caring, polite, courteous, and respectful. My family has never had an issue with Sacred Journey's Hospice care in general. I would 1,000% recommend Sacred Journey to anyone seeking great, hospice care for their loved one.

July 12, 2015

I cared for my Mother at home. She was admitted to Sacred Journey's care on the advice of her primary care doctor. While Mother remained in my home, Sacred Journey sent nurses weekly to check on her. Mother was never examined by a Sacred Journey doctor. As her daughter and responsible for her care, I found the Sacred Journey staff to be arrogant and condescending. They talked to me as if I were mentally deficient, which I am not. The nurses often contradicted each other when making recommendations for Mother's medications, etc. I believe this place is all about money and the patients are merely the means to get said money. I will avoid them like the plague should I ever need hospice services again and I advise you to do so also. Would rate them minus 5 stars if it were possible.

Waisted Journey !!!

June 23, 2014

Like Used Car Salesmen!!! The called me at 8 pm, talked for 22 min. --Oh yah, you can bring pets, family can spend the night, everything wonderful!! The "reserved" a bed for the next morning. I called at 8 am, ready to go- no one knew what the heck I was talking about. They SCREWED US UP. I have a fragile senior and they sold me on their place. Turned out they only take people in their last 4-5 days of life. They wasted my time, the owner called and was hardly concerned about her employee mis-representing. I think this company used telemarketers?? STEER CLEAR OF THEM. Minus five stars.

To take the time to write a review after losing my precious mother tells you how amazing Sacred Journey has been. I have never experienced such pain by losing her but I cannot say enough about Sacred Journey and how amazing they have been through this entire process. They are caring and professional. They have continued to check on us and offer any assistance we need while we navigate this new journey. Do not call another company. This is who you want at this time.

I learned of Sacred Journey when my loved one was in the hospital. We were stunned to learn that she had a terminal diagnosis and wouldn't need her personal physician anymore. This was about managing pain and making her comfortable throughout her last days. I was told Sacred Journey had residential as well as at-home hospice care. I was reassured that they could continue her physical therapy and speech therapy and that her supplies, medication & transportation from the hospital would be covered with no out of pocket cost. She has Medicare. I was completely won over when I learned about their residential facility that they stressed was 'not a nursing home.' It only had 12 beds and offered 24-hour 'respite' care for up to 5 days when weary caregivers needed a break. I could even stay there with her. It was an easy decision. Positives: 1. Signup was a cinch. A helpful liaison met me at the hospital and walked me through the paperwork and patiently answered all of my questions, even the hard ones like what DNR (do not resuscitate means.) 2. The CNA was very caring, positive and kind. 3. They provided all of the hospital equipment such as a hospital bed and tray, wheel chair, depends, "chucks" (for leakage on the bed during the night) and a bedside commode. They even took care of delivery and setup. 4. They cover medications and deliver them to the house. 5. They are available 24 hours if you have a question and the nurse met with us the day we brought her home. Negatives: A. Staff: 1. We met the chaplain and social worker at signup and didn't see them or hear from them again. After calling, I learned they'd switched social workers. They recommend you use their doctor for efficiency but when I needed paperwork signed, it was easier to get in touch with the ER physician. 2. The on-call nurse who had to come over the weekend was hardly helpful. When I told her my loved one coughed and choked all night she said, 'get her some Bendaryl.' When I said she had no appetite, she said, 'sometimes I don't feel like eating either.' When I said that I needed a gait belt like the one she used for at home physical therapy through another agency because I could no longer lift her, she said 'any belt I own' would do. B. Communication: 1. Information - Transportation wasn't covered from the hospital. I had to drive her myself or go through insurance which was exorbitant in our case for an ambulance. I was never informed they have volunteers who can come over and read. Also, I received contradictory information regarding her care. I initially asked for physical therapy because when she sat in a wheelchair in an unrelated 'rehab' for three weeks, she had to learn how to walk again by the time I took her home. I was now told that even walking to the bedroom would make her 'winded' and raise her blood pressure. So we didn't do physical therapy and allowed her to rest as recommended. But staying in bed made her develop a sore. They provided a special mattress pad that didn't help unfortunately. 2. Medications - Only meds that are hospice-related are covered. Ex. medications for dementia, Parkinson's or urinary problems are not covered. (FYI. A Medicare Advantage plan can help with out of pocket costs.) 3. Supplies - I was told that supplies would be covered. But when we ran out, we kept being told that this person thought someone else ordered them etc. And finally several days later I was told that we should have our own supplies at home as a backup. Would've been good to know before she was completely out. 4. Respite - their five day respite facility really sold me. When we needed it, I was told that they are booked up until November. Later I was told there is no respite facility, only a hospital for acute care if pain meds aren't working. They use nursing homes for respite. 5. Nursing Homes - there's no list provided initially. After inquiring, I was provided a list of 19 facilities they're "connected" with. Only two don't have a poor rating on US News and World Report. Their basic inspections cover Health Inspections, Staffing (hours of care received from staff), Medical Care Quality Measures (pain, bedsores, UTI's) and Fire Safety. One passing facility was in Riverdale, the other in Marietta. Neither had availability for respite and if we needed a longer term placement, we'd still have to deal directly with the facility regarding the financial part so there was no benefit. 6. My loved ones condition worsened. I didn't get adequate assistance regarding residential placements and they wouldn't cover transportation to one even though she was still under their care. 7. There is no discussion regarding funerals or aftercare. After my loved one passed away, the only communication we received from Sacred Journey was regarding getting their equipment back. In short, I would not recommend Sacred Journey. Research hospices early, before it's an emergency and don't forget self-care.

We first want to stress what an attentive and dedicated caregiver Ms. Nkenge was to her loved one. She went the extra mile and always strived for the best possible care. We wish every one of our patients had a caregiver like Ms. Nkenge to look out for them. Many of the issues listed under the negatives section are largely related to communication. We believe if Ms. Nkenge spoke with the primary caregiver in this situation she would find that many of her concerns were addressed, but with the primary caregiver listed in her loved one's medical file. The social worker, chaplain, and volunteer coordinator attempted to contact Ms. Nkenge multiple times, but often could not reach her and calls were not returned so these services could not be scheduled as frequently as we would have liked. In relation to this, the social workers are primarily responsible for assisting with facility placement, funerals and aftercare. This lack of communication would have affected getting Ms. Nkenge necessary information regarding this aspect of care as well as getting the doctor to sign paperwork. In other cases staff (like the volunteer coordinator) reached the primary caregiver for Ms. Nkenge's loved one, who stated they were not interested in services. The coordinator has documented trying to reach Ms. Nkenge as well, but could not reach her. Unfortunately, Medicare guidelines determine who pays for transportation from the hospital and in this case transportation could not be covered by hospice. Medicare also governs payment surrounding physical therapy. If a patient is evaluated and deemed inappropriate for physical therapy (meaning they cannot physically participate in therapy without it further damaging their bodies or health) then we cannot provide it. Families are welcome to get a second opinion, but it would be at their expense. This also means that physical therapy related items (like a gait belt) would not be covered financially by Medicare. Everything we do is in best interest of the patient and our goals are comfort, pain control, symptom management and quality of life. If a patient could be harmed with or refuses an activity, then we will not preform it. This relates to both physical therapy and eating. When a loved one stops eating it is often devastating for the family (in part to our culture surrounding food and the way we associate eating with health). Ultimately, no longer eating is inherent to the dying process. Patients often begin to sleep more- sometimes the whole day- and are expending very little energy. Then their digestive system slows down and processing the food can become painful leading to cramps and constipation. Sometimes patients become unable to physically swallow and may choke or aspirate which can be even more devastating than not eating. We would never force feed a patient or encourage a family member to do so. We are glad that Ms. Nkenge was made aware of the Medicare Advantage plan and hope that eased some of the financial burden. All families who come on to service are walked through what hospice can and cannot legally provide. This topic, as well as supplies, was covered at admission. As for respite: The IPU does fill up quickly, but we keep beds on hold for this purpose because we know how important it is for caregivers to be well rested and have a break. When we don't have the days a caregiver requests available then we offer them a different date, or they can consider one of the nursing homes we partner with. We must limit the number of respite beds so that when we have patients who are actively in crisis we can serve them. We describe the IPU as the emergency room of hospice. There is no "long term" inpatient hospice unit due to the nature of hospice. We do partner with many nursing homes and assisted living facilities to provide care concurrently. We have many great options and are open to expanding the list. Unfortunately, 1 in 4 nursing homes in Georgia are rated one star and only 56 earned 4 stars ( http://www.georgiahealthnews.com/2016/08/star-luster-ga-nursing-homes-rating/). The location of these nursing homes is not always a reasonable distance from our families or within our service area. We certainly hope to have even more nursing home options in the future for respite stays. Payment of a nursing home is governed by Medicare, but we guide families through the process as much as possible. We are unsure of how to respond to Ms. Nkenge's last point as her loved one passed away after her review, which means we couldn't have made an attempt to check on her or call about equipment as her loved one was still with us at the time of the review. We do have record of speaking with the primary caregiver who stated he would relay our grief counseling services to her. We hope you will consider updating or removing this review in consideration of this information. Please reach out to us on 678-583-0717 for further information.

The family of Agnes Floyd cannot express how grateful we are to our hospice team, they were kind, compassionate and took great care of our mom and family in our time of need. You have exceptional people working for you at Sacred Journey and we know that our being connected to your organization was all ordained by God. From our initial meeting at the hospital with Cornelius to Tammy who pronounced her, everything was executed with grace and excellence. Everyone who entered our home from Sacred Journey had a special anointing, were extraordinarily compassionate and our family was grateful for their presence. We will never forget the care and time that you provided to our family. Cornelius Thank you for showing sympathy and empathy during a difficult decision for our family when choosing hospice. Thank you for thoroughly explaining hospice and answering any questions we had. Marianne Thank you for tending to our mother and taking the time to answer questions of each family member. Thank you for being vigilant and observant in noticing our stepfather was in deep grief and giving him a task of thinking and speaking positive regarding memories they shared together. Thank you for helping us understand the process and knowing what to expect in our journey of mom's transition. Gary Wow, what an anointing you have. You have a place in our hearts, and we will never forget you. Thank you for the time and loving care that you took with our family. The talks and prayers made our hearts glad and helped us to further accept God's plan during one of the saddest moments in our lives. Thank you for your joy, kindness, authenticity and love for Christ. Margaret Thank you for your willingness to assist in any way possible, from writing letters, having a listening ear and answering questions. Tammy Bridge Ringer Thank you for the care you took preparing my mom for the funeral home arrival. Thank you for the compassion, empathy and care you showed our family during a hard time.

Sacred Journey Hospice is a wonderful, compassionate, professional organization. My father , John Craven was a patient in 2019. Sadly, he passed away in October. Erica Bailey was his nurse. She was amaZing in helping him through the process of dying. We will be forever grateful. Holly, the social worker was also wonderful in helping us navigate this.

Hospice is suppose to be a place where patients receive comfort and quality of end of life. That was not our experience. When transported from the hospital the old weaker prescription was given and we had to wait 22 hours before a doctor could see her for the first time and rectify the situation. In hospice, conditions can change quickly, waiting 22 hours for a doctor to respond is unacceptable. During her 6 days at least one family member was there 24/7 and saw numerous violations. Some of our family members are in the medical profession. Techs were wrong half the time when taking vitals. She had periods of crying, being freighted and although extremely weak trying to get out of bed. Her anxiety could be felt in the room and not being able to breathe (she was not on oxygen there but was at home) was extremely freighting to her. When I spoke with the doctor about her fear and anxiety the doctor's response was to chastise me and said we don't over prescribe and that was that. No solutions were considered. She was dying. Shouldn't her comfort be the most important thing to consider and to find some way to help her? Not at Sacred Journey! I wonder if the people who wrote the good reviews were there at night when things get ugly. We saw no other patient's family members after 8 p.m. when we were there.

I was referred to Sacred Journey at a time when my mother's health started declining and I could no longer manage on my own. From day one, the social worker, nurses, aides, chaplain and volunteers have been like a family and I now have the support - from not only the team that visit my home but from the office staff - I need to support my mother as they are extremely attentive to our needs and concerns. There were occasions when I had to call at nights for a nurse to visit and each time the nurse will take time to explain what is happening and what I should expect. These visits reassured me that I have an extended family helping during her transition. After these night visit her assigned nurse will check on us the next morning to make sure that we are okay. Kudos especially to her assigned nurses and her volunteers. The staff does a great job in paring my mother with just the right volunteer, checking in to make sure any concerns our issue we may have are resolved and our addressed timely and with our satisfaction in mind. Thank you Sacred Journey for being apart of our family and knowing what I need help with at just the right time. Also, the company that you partner with to provide equipment are so professional and attentive I have them come to my home at 3 am to help with equipment that started malfunctioning late at night...That night in particular I stayed up all night with my mother and just to know that Sacred Journey and their partners were there for us was humbling and a blessing.

I can not say enough about this place and the staff. My grandmother was admitted to this hospice after we found out she had GBM (brain cancer). We went from Piedmont ICU straight her after a referral from the hospital. I can say we were a bit hesitant because we did not get to go see the facility before selecting it. When we arrived you could feel the warmth and love of the place. They quickly made sure that my grandmother was a comfortable as possible and then did the same for us. They allowed both my mom and myself to stay with her even though it is only set for one person to stay. Whenever they came into the room rather it be the day shift or the night shift they treated my grandmother like she was one of their family members not just a patient. Anything we asked for was never a problem and they really rely on the family members to help out in what your loved one needs. They say you know them better than us so if you see something please let us know and we will take care of it. Even in my grandmothers last few hours they came in and talked to her and made sure she was as comfortable as possible. They also keep the family informed of different stages your loved one is going through so nothing is a surprise. I highly recommend this facility if your in need of 24 hour care for a loved one.
