As an avid traveler, I've honed the art of blending my adventurous spirit with effortless beauty hacks. Before setting off on any escapade, there are certain essential considerations I take to heart. With these invaluable insights, I've discovered the perfect balance between my wanderlust-driven soul and the desire to feel effortlessly beautiful on the road.

When traveling one big issue for keeping makeup looking great is to think about weather. Do your research to check if you may be heading somewhere that might be humid, rainy, very hot or very cold. Here makeup comes like a blessing in disguise. Therefore, I always update my makeup kit on the things I take for makeup and touchups.

10 Tips to Pack Your Makeup Kit for Travel

For me traveling is all about taking pictures of diverse locations in the world and looking perfect in them. If you enjoy posting photos of yourself during your travels on social media, these tips will also help get likes. We want to multiply fans, not trolls, right?

We all don’t have perfect face shapes or perfect skin types. Thankfully there are some great products out there that can help us look flawless, even when traveling!

These are 10 things to do and pack for flawless makeup when you travel! Are you ready to make a perfect makeup kit for travel?

1.    Understanding your skin:

It is a pre-traveling thing and the most essential one when you are up to a journey. Your skin type matters the most in not only keeping you look beautiful on the way, but also helps you maintain the health and freshness of your skin. Of course, you don’t want to enter in your home town with dull-looking skin. For example, I have dry skin, so I do more than required things to keep it conditioned and nourished.

There are three basic skin types and here is what you can pack in your makeup kit for each:

• Combination Skin: havers are the most blessed according to me on earth. You don’t need to put a lot of effort to get things done. All you have to do is keeping your normal moisturizer and night cream with you.
• Dry skin: for this, you need to first drink plenty of water because it is your inner body craving for water and showing signs of dryness on your skin. Secondly, you must keep a good cleanser and moisturizer with you. Moisturizer should be in your handbag, so you can apply it over after each lavatory session.
• Oily skin: oily skin requires you to keep yourself as much as you can from hotness and humidity. Keep yourself from taking so much sweating onto the face because it is the sweat that’s causing the oil. Face cakes and face powders from good brands can work wonders for you. Try to wash your face at each station and do touch-ups with powder.
• Aging skin: it doesn’t mean you have reached an old age but due to some harsh skin routines, oversensitive skin types, and due to overtravel the sun exposure can get the skin dull and looking aging. You need to put a lot of effort in this regard and keep with moisturizes, water intake, sunscreens, and anti-aging creams.

2.    Understanding the climate of the place you are going:

Regardless of your skin type, the climate of the place you are traveling to matters the most and ask you to do some alterations in the kit. For example, if you are traveling to Mexico, its temperament is a bit tropical. Hence, people with dry skin can feel relieved there however people with oily skin will have to put a lot of effort.

Here is what you need to carry as per different climates:

• Dry climate Makeup you keep for climate should have moisturizing crumbs in it.
• Temperate climates : such climates don’t need you to put a lot of effort here besides if you are coming from a country having punitive temperate, the skin would feel fresh.
• Cold: People with dry and aging skin types will put huge efforts in the cold places yet oily and combination skin holders can get relief.
• Polar: You need to keep exfoliators for your skin as well as moisturizers.

3.    Understanding the current season of the place you are going:

Along with temperament, seasons also matter a lot in selecting things for your makeup kit. If you are traveling in the hot season, you must keep mattifying powders and setting sprays with you to keep the oily sweating free of your face.

• Spring / Autumn: Three lipstick colors in basic shades would be enough as you can intermingle them and create a new color. Autumn is also a moderate season with not much clumsy weather so you can use the same routine for autumns. Remember, brighter is better.
• Winter / Summer: As winter and summer, both are extreme seasons in terms of weather hence one should remain stick to a strict routine of skincare even when you are traveling.

4.    Separating your kit into three parts:

Now, you know your skin type, weather conditions, seasons, and the tempers; it is time to start packing things. For this, you will have to make three separate parts for the makeup you are taking with you.

Here are three parts you will divide your kit in:

Makeup brushes, eye shadow palette, and some skincare serums, ready to get packed for traveling.  

a.    Essentials:

Essentials are those that must have things without which your skin can look dead and dull. You don’t want that so keep the following things in your bag:

• Moisturizers
• Travel size perfume (my favorite is the Tekson 8ml Spray Bottle . You can add your favorite perfume to their atomizer spray bottle and they are refillable).
• Facial Mist/Spray
• Shampoo & conditioner

b.    Enhancers

Enhancers will be things that you need to enhance your beauty. You can make perfect poses in the pictures without worrying about your face shape and eye size. Here are some enhancers to keep with you:

• Eye shadow pallet
• Blushes for cheeks
• Lip tints and sticks
• Highlighter
• Glowing serums (My favorite is the Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C & Turmeric Face Oil. It brightens and gives your skin a glow!)

c.    Stand-ins 

Stand-ins will be in your pouch or hand carry for makeup touchups from time to time. you will retouch your face before photographs and when you feel it. Here are some makeup stand-ins:

• Matt powder
• Exfoliate sprays

5.    Travel Makeup:

You must understand that it is the same makeup that you use at home however when you go onto traveling, you should keep your kit concise yet complete. Hence, you must buy some traveling makeup here. If you don’t have it, you must not be afraid to buy travel makeup . Travel makeup includes multi-purpose kits. Such as:

My makeup kit essentials for traveling:  

• Tints that can be used as lipstick, eye shadows, and blush.
• Multifunctional Travel Makeup Pens can be used on eyes, lips, and even on cheeks for contouring.
• Body mists plus deodorants to make you feel fresh.
• Concealers and bronzers to help you with two make-up things at one time.

6.    Knowing the Quantities:

As you are traveling, you cannot carry bulks with you as these are hard to carry and harder to care, during journeys. Also, you will have limited space so you cannot have big bottles of perfumes and moisturizers with you. Here is what you need to do

• Understand how much quantity you require for each thing on per day basis.
• Divide it into fifty-two days.
• Take some bottles with you made of good plastic with rightly tightened caps.

According to my estimates, you can use the following parameters to measure your traveling kit essential quantities and bottles, enough for an entire vacation. 

• For Foundation 30 ml
• Face cream 50 ml
• Mascara 19 ml
• Perfume 12 ml
• Spray and mists 30 ml
• Hand Sanitizer 15 ml 
• Shampoo & conditioner 20 ml each

Try to reusable bottles.

7.    Mirror Cheats:

To keep the quantity and luggage low in size and weight, you must do some cheating. As a traveler, think of the things you can find easily anywhere. Avoid filling your luggage with things of this kind. For example, mirrors. You can find mirrors almost everywhere you go. So, you can:

• Try to use mirrors in hotel rooms and lavatories
• Borrow mirrors from your partners.
• Try to find a cellphone cover enriched with mirror
• Use the front camera of your mobile as a mirror if you find nothing

8.    Get a Travel Packing organizer Set:

Instead of putting everything in your hand carry and then struggling to find everything is simply not a good idea. The struggle sometimes gets real and end you up with a lot of frustration. Also, it can damage your stuff too. Therefore, instead of using the same bag for your makeup kit, try to find:

9.    Keep Some Room for Booty:

Booty is the shopping and purchasing you do on the way of traveling. Being a female, I love shopping for makeup and new kits to add into to my collection. I would recommend that instead of keeping a space into your whole luggage, try to keep it exclusively in the makeup bag. Makeup is fragile and can break easily. Of course, you don’t want your expensive makeup from Dubai to reach home damaged.

10. Not Missing Your everyday skincare routine:

All with this I would recommend that you do not miss onto taking those products in your hand carry, that you use on an everyday basis, at home. For example, if you are using some special night cream, or prone to put a mask on face during the day, keep with it.

• Day routine – try to use good sunscreen lotion
• Night routine – cleanse your skin and put a good moisturizer and night cream
• Touch-ups - Keep sprinkling rose water to keep your skin hydrated on the way.

All with this, don’t forget to drink plenty of water.

After finishing a makeup look , the last thing you want to do is smear your eyeliner or sweat off your foundation . That's where a spritz of one of the best setting sprays can work some magic. A setting spray sets your makeup helping the makeup stay put throughout the day.

It sounds like a trick, but it's really just science. Setting sprays work by forming a protective layer over your makeup, locking it in place with a flexible, breathable barrier made of film-forming polymers. Besides extending longevity, the best setting sprays can help with oil control, keep your skin hydrated (therefore stopping your makeup from getting dry and cakey), and refresh your overall look.

"If you need your makeup to stay in place over six hours then using a setting spray is a must," notes makeup artist Jonet Williamson . Ahead, experts clue us in on their favorite setting sprays. Plus, how to use them.

What to Look For in a Setting Spray

Aimee Carr , a medical aesthetician and founder of Voodoo Makeup, notes that a setting spray can have a few benefits—depending, of course, on your chosen formula. "Formulations can vary and also give you purposes like smudge-proof, waterproof, and sweat-proof, or desired finishing looks like matte or dewy."

Nearly every setting spray helps your makeup last all day. "It's important to match a setting spray with your intended goal," adds Carr. "This can be based on what activities you are doing that day, how long you anticipate wearing makeup, what final look you are hoping to achieve, etc."

• Ingredients

The primary ingredients in setting sprays are film-forming polymers, which settle into a protective film over your makeup. You can also find setting sprays with hydrating ingredients like glycerin and hyaluronic acid, which attract moisture and keep your makeup from getting cakey.

These days, it comes in several variations (ultra matte! extra glowy! infused with vitamin C for hydration!), but the original is still the brightest star. Waterproof, smudge-proof, and transfer-resistant, the smooth spray has been proven to keep makeup in place for 16 hours.

Williamson recommends Charlotte Tilbury's Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, an alcohol—and oil-free spray that provides up to 16 hours of protection. It's ideal for those with dry to normal skin looking for a hydrating finish; it includes moisture barrier-supporting Japanese green tea for that very purpose. It's also celebrity makeup artist Renée Loiz 's choice to protect clients' face makeup before she applies eye makeup and blush. "It sets everything in place while keeping the face hydrated," she shares.

Williamson and Loiz love this pick for those with combination or oily skin who want a matte finish. "Thanks to its waterproof formula, this ensures makeup stays put all day, even under hot lights and cameras," Loiz shares. Light as air thanks to its aerosol formula and oil-absorbing thanks to carefully thought-out ingredients like witch hazel, this holds makeup in place for up to 16 hours and leaves you with a blurred, matte finish.

With a radiant finish, the lightweight spray features skin-loving ingredients like blue agave extract to set makeup (preventing melting, fading, and creasing in the process) and hemp seed extract and aloe to calm, soothe, and impart moisture alongside their also-hydrating friends hyaluronic acid and niacinamide.

Totally weightless and wildly dewy, I took to regularly spritzing Tatcha's Luminous Dewy Skin Mist even when I didn't have any makeup on years ago—and I just can't quit. While not technically a setting spray, this fine mist moisturizer does the trick and was created to be worn under or over your makeup to prevent caking, also helping to fight dryness and dullness with a proprietary complex of Okinawa red algae and hyaluronic acid.

The go-to spray in many beauty vlogs, Morphe's beloved Continuous Setting Mist is an aerosol spray engineered to deliver an even application that won't quit until you take your finger off the trigger. Microfine in texture, it was created to work with both liquid and powder makeup. Pros also love using it directly on a makeup sponge to help smooth makeup.

Williamson notes that some setting sprays may work better than others, depending on your skin type. "I'd suggest a hydrating setting spray like Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray or Milk Hydro Grip Setting Spray for dry to normal skin and a matte finish setting spray like One Size On Til Dawn for combo oily skin," she shares. If your skin is on the dryer side, look for ingredients like glycerin or hyaluronic acid, whereas if your skin is oily, look for oil-absorbing ingredients like witch hazel.

Loiz has a secret trick for applying setting spray, and it includes two products. First, you'll use a hydrating setting spray, applying it after your foundation, concealer, and/or setting powder. Then, after completing the rest of your blush, bronzer, and eye makeup, apply a long-wearing spray to ensure your makeup stays in place.

"Applying both these techniques guarantees that makeup will stay put," she shares. "Setting the foundation and concealer initially secures them in place during the rest of the makeup application. Then, a final spritz with a long-wear spray locks in the entire look, ensuring it stays flawless all day without budging!"

As for the actual application, you'll want to close your eyes and hold the bottle eight to 10 inches away from your face. Then, spray in an X-marks-the-spot shape to make sure you get full coverage before allowing the product to dry down.

I’m a summer girlie through and through, meaning few things make me happier than basking in the sunshine—with the proper broad spectrum sun protection , of course. I Tested 20 Cream Blushes to Find One That Actually Lasts

With just a few taps, a cream blush breathes life into the skin — a natural-looking flush that’s integral to “no-makeup makeup.” But ironically, what I love about cream blush is also the thing that frustrates me most. Cream blush looks incredible moments after you apply it (Sunkissed! Glowy! Rosey!), but because of how emollient and moisturizing the formulas are, the pigment is easily wiped away and fades quickly. And in my experience, a cream blush will require multiple trips to the bathroom throughout the day in order to preserve the look from that morning.

But I just knew there had to be a cream blush out there that actually lasts. And so I got to testing. Like last year, when I hunted for the best clear brow gel, I decided to test out as many cream blushes as I could get my hands on, from a wide variety of brands at all different price points. Some of the blushes were recommended by friends and colleagues, others I found sleuthing TikTok or Reddit, and a few I picked up at Sephora or Target simply because I liked the look of them. This time around, my criteria were as follows: The blush has to be easy to apply with fingers (I don’t always have time for brushes and sponges — who does?), it must blend easily into the skin, and, most importantly, it has to actually last . Each morning, I applied a different cream blush as I would normally — on top of sunscreen and a bit of concealer, using my fingers to blend it out (this alone weeded a few out, as some pilled or looked patchy instantly). On top of the standard wear test, I also took photographs at the beginning and end of everyday, in order to formally document the process and compare notes when I was done testing.

Of all the 20 blushes I tested over the course of two months, there were quite a few that met most of my criteria but not all. For example, Saie’s Dew Blush in Spicy , for example, had excellent staying power and gave the nicest sunkissed flush, but I found it looked a little patchy when I blended it out with my fingers (it looked much more natural when I did so with a brush). And Pixi by Petra’s TikTok beloved On-the-Glow blush gave a really gorgeous rosy, pinch to the cheeks and was so easy to blend with just your fingers, but it rubbed off quickly (it had admittedly been a hot day when I tried it, but a good blush should be able to withstand a little sweat).

The champion, it turns out, is Danessa Myricks Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder , a relatively new launch from the brand that I’d seen making the rounds in makeup-artist kits and on editors’ favorites lists for a few months. I hadn’t actually gotten around to trying it, until now. The formula itself is unique because, as it says by the name, it starts off as a balmy, almost slippery consistency. So when you first rub your fingers into the pot and start pressing it into the skin it’s buttery and easy to work into your skin. But after a few taps, the product begins to sheer out with a lightweight powdery finish. When I first tried the blush, I applied it over a light layer of foundation on a night out. I was thrilled at how easily it melted into the skin without disrupting or pilling the makeup I’d already applied. But perhaps more impressive was just how vibrant it looked when I peeked in a mirror a few hours later — it almost looked like I’d just put it on. The next day I tested the blush over bare skin just to see if that would make a difference. To my surprise, it also stayed put throughout a whole day of meetings.

Now I do understand the potential hesitation from anyone with dry skin who’s typically powder averse, but this is truly nothing like any other powder finish I’ve tried before — it’s soft, airy, and almost silky. No cakiness or dehydration. The Yummy Skin Blurring Balm Powder definitely has a soft matte finish once it’s fully blended into the skin, (as opposed to the dewy finish of an ultra emollient blush). That finish not only gives the blush staying power (more on that in a second), it’s also a really stunning blurring effect. So, it’s a great choice for people with more textured or acne-prone skin types, like me.

This blush is incredibly pigmented and a tiny bit goes a really long way. In the past, I’d find myself really digging my fingers into my cream blush pots in order to get enough product for both my cheeks, but with the Blurring Balm Powder Blush, a quick tap or two will get you enough blush for at least one cheek. The high pigment in conjunction with the soft, powdery finish, I suspect, is what makes this blush really stick to the skin — I applied this at 8 a.m. and couldn’t believe when, nearly seven hours later, I came home with pretty much the same amount of blush I’d applied that morning. I recommend pressing or tapping the product into the cheeks to apply it, rather than rubbing it in circles, in order to get the most flawless, even layer.

Danessa Myrick’s Skin Blurring Balm Powder comes in six vibrant, richly pigmented colors — among them a rosy pink, bright coral, to a mauve-y berry — and while they show up incredibly well on my fairly pale, olive-undertone skin (I’m even paler than usual now that I live in London), I was thrilled to see Reddit users with deeper skin tones were also impressed with bright pigment. I tested “It Girl”, a true hot pink, and “Dancing Queen” a plum shade and, despite the shades looking quite bold on their own, when applied to my cheeks both gave my skin a soft, natural-looking flush, like I’d come back from a walk on a cold winter morning. Another bonus: The texture and finish of the blush mean it also works on lips. American Airlines is preparing for summer travel with new premium onboard amenities — take a look

• American Airlines is launching its first rotating collection of premium amenities Memorial Day Weekend.
• It includes a new front-row flagship suite, new bedding, and enhanced dining options. 
• The new amenity kit program will cycle skincare products and offer limited-edition specialty kits. 

American Airlines is gearing up for summer travel with new luxury in-flight offerings for its customers.

American is launching its first rotating collection of premium onboard amenities over Memorial Day Weekend. It will be available on 300 international and transcontinental flights.

The offerings include new bedding, dining options, and an amenity kit program that lets premium passengers sample different skincare brands and products.

"We thoughtfully curate each element of the onboard experience so every customer can look forward to the time they spend in flight," American's vice president of customer experience, Kim Cisek, said in a statement. "Part of the magic of travel is connecting our customers to the people and experiences that matter most to them."

While most of the new amenities are being offered to premium cabins, main cabin passengers will also have access to new bedding and other seat enhancements.

Passengers in the main cabin will have access to 4K seatback screens, Bluetooth connectivity, and new charging ports. All customers will have access to 1,500 free entertainment content options and can use high-speed WiFi.

Passengers can kick back in the flagship suites with new privacy doors and chaise lounge positions.

Customers traveling in American's flagship suite seat will have access to wireless charging, Bluetooth capability, and multiple storage spaces.

Passengers traveling in premium economy can also enjoy new amenities like wireless charging, additional storage space, and privacy headrest wings.

Customers looking for more luxury can sit front row on the new Boeing 787-9 and 777-300 aircraft's flagship suite preferred seat.

The new seat offers customers additional space and storage. It will offer additional amenities for passengers' comfort, like a Nest Bedding mattress pad, a throw blanket, and a memory foam lumbar pillow.

The seat will also have Nest Bedding pajamas and an exclusive amenity kit featuring additional skincare products.

American used customer research to enhance its bedding in all cabins.

American decided to offer dual-sided pillows to flagship first and business class after research indicated 75% of its customers preferred different materials on each side of their pillows. The new pillow will have cool touch fabric on one side and traditional fabric on the other.

Travelers in flagship business class can now enjoy slippers onboard.

The slippers used to only be offered on ultra-long-haul flights.

Customers in all cabins will enjoy enhanced bedding, with cabin-specific offerings like lumbar pillows, throw blankets, premium duvets, and fleece blankets.

American says the new bedding packaging will save 25 tons of plastic waste a year.

American collaborated with inflight textile company John Horsfall to create bedding from recycled materials. Nearly all the pillows, duvets, and blankets were made with recycled fibers, and filled bedding will be 100% recycled.

Customers traveling in premium cabins will also receive their bedding in a reusable zipper bag made with recycled fibers to reduce plastic waste from distribution.

International business class passengers can try out new flavors inspired by international cuisine and American Airlines destinations worldwide.

American is offering new menu offerings to business class passengers on international US inbound and outbound flights.

Some of the meals include macadamia-crusted sea bass with citrus cream sauce, quinoa, toasted orzo, and haricot verts.

American is also offering enhanced dining options to domestic travelers in first class.

Customers can also choose from new preorder options.

Preorder options will continue to roll out this spring for business class on flights from the US to international destinations.

Business class, premium economy, and first class passengers can pre-order all of the meals offered to their cabins. The main cabin doesn't have pre-ordering available but passengers receive a complimentary in-flight snack and beverage. They can also purchase food through the buy-on-board program.

Passengers in premium cabins will also have access to the new amenity kit program.

American's amenity kit includes basic comfort amenities like a toothbrush, dental kit, eye mask, and earplugs. The kit will also cycle different skincare products and offerings in premium cabins.

American collaborated with beauty retailer Thirteen Lune to curate skincare offerings in the amenity kit.

The kit will feature high-quality beauty brands from Thirteen Lune's tailored collection. Passengers can scan a QR code in the kit to learn about each brand and partner featured.

Customers will receive the Thirteen Lune kit for the first few weeks of the kickoff to the new program.

Halfway through the getting ready process, makeup artist Raisa Flowers realized that Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Draft outfit had changed. “At first, I thought they were doing the original black look,” she tells me over the phone. “But midway through the makeup, even before I started doing the eyes and lips, I asked, ‘Wait, what are you wearing?’ And good thing I did because I would’ve gone in a different direction and we had minimal time.”

Clark, the number one pick last night at the WNBA Draft, descended upon the orange carpet wearing a two-piece Prada satin shirt and miniskirt, paired with a Prada embroidered rhinestone mesh crop top. The outfit switch up led Flowers into a different direction, color-palette wise. “If she was going to wear the original look, [the makeup] would've been darker and deeper,” explains Flowers. “So I tried to give her something that was minimal, fresh, dewy, but just with a little pop [of color].”

To make a minimal makeup look pop under the lights of the Brooklyn Academy of Music, where the draft took place, Flowers focused on prepping the skin with Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer , Full Orbit Eye Brightening Cream , and the newly formulated Invisible Shield SPF 50 Sunscreen , which launches today. Clark is the first person to wear the new launch.

Afterwards, she used The Stretch Foundation in Medium 1 to “give her face a really balanced color,” before brightening up Clark’s under eyes with Stretch Concealer. “It’s so creamy and goes on very smooth,” says Flowers. “It’s something that defines the look.” To set the base, Flowers powdered the skin without overdoing it: “The Glossier girl has some type of shine and dewiness on the skin, so I didn't want to mattify her skin too much.”

The Stretch Foundation and Concealer.

On the cheeks, Flowers used Cloud Paint in the shades Soar and Puff. “I mixed them together to create a rosy color on the cheeks, where it looks like the cheeks are pinched.” Next, she applied the Monochrome eyeshadows in Jute then tapped Lidstar in Moon on the center of the lid. “I wanted to add some glimmer, so that when the camera flashes, her lids will pop,” explains Flowers. To finish off the look, Flowers used Ultralip in the shades Pony and Cranberry before topping it off with a clear gloss. Every WNBA draft pick last night wore Glossier and those two Ultralip shades were also popular among the rest of the WNBA draft field.
