Will Larter left this review about Travellers Rest
This old roadside pub has been opened out so that now it mostly faces away from the road. There are bare stone walls in the old house, with conservatory-type extensions tacked onto the back, leading out into a multi-layered garden with numerous benches and tables. Gets very busy with holiday trade in summer (two campsites within a few hundred yards). Two local ales on handpump when I visited recently.

Bungalow-style pub in a farming village, originally a house built using stone from a watermill that stood on the site until the 1960s. The pub was crowned local CAMRA Rural Pub of the Year 2008. In a handy location for walkers, with access to Roche Abbey and Laughton, it has extensive gardens by the brook providing seating. Good value food is served. Sunday lunches are served form noon until 4pm. Originally opened as a pub by Stones Brewery as a replacement for the original Travellers Rest, now the Cartwheel Restaurant, it was sold to Hardy & Hansons, then acquired by Greene king. The guest beer policy has improved of late and is not always from the Greene King Brewery. Full meals and bar snacks are served. There is a pool table in the tap room side. The pub suffered damage during the November 2019 floods but had reopened by early December, under new management.
