Seniors nationwide are deciding where to spend the next four years as college application deadlines quickly approach. "The College Tour" is a new series that helps students navigate college choices and get an inside look at campuses around the country from the comfort of their homes. Six Texas colleges have episodes in production so far, and TCU leads the way as the first North Texas school to be featured in Season Two, Episode 3, now streaming on Amazon Prime . The show is hosted and produced by Alex Boylan, past winner of "The Amazing Race," who also visited TCU to host in-person and virtual watch parties for the show's launch.  “The idea for 'The College Tour' TV series came to me from my niece. Because of the pandemic and finances, she wasn’t able to travel to tour colleges,” Boylan said. “So we created a series inspired by her and millions of other young people who are interested in attending college."  Episodes for 48 universities across the nation are live or scheduled. The six Texas schools include: TCU, University of North Texas, Baylor University, The University of Texas, Sam Houston State University and St. Edward's University.

TCU’s episode focuses on the university’s spirited and supportive campus culture through the eyes of 10 students:

  • Erin Banks, a ballet and modern dance major from McDonough, Georgia
  • Emily Citarella ’21 from Atlanta, who earned her bachelor of science in strategic communication with a general psychology minor
  • Erika Rebollo Diaz, a computer science major and mathematics minor from Frisco, Texas
  • Cort Ewing, a biology major and general business minor from Colleyville, Texas
  • Anya Ivory, a journalism major and general business minor from Fort Worth
  • Nand Javia, a business information systems and finance major and physics minor from Vadodara, India
  • Ryan Marks, a sports broadcasting major and business minor from Laguna Niguel, California
  • Collin Pittmann, a journalism and theatre major from Spokane, Washington
  • Allyson San Roman, a child development major from Orange, California
  • Paige Shiring ’21 from Houston, who earned a bachelor of business administration in finance

Diaz filmed a segment for the episode about experiential education at TCU. The STEM Scholar and honors student is the founding president of the new TCU chapter of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Inc.

“I fully believe that you can get anything that you want through TCU’s resources,” Diaz said. “I have already been able to do so much and there is always an open door for those looking for new opportunities at TCU.”

TCU's episode is now available on Amazon Prime ,  YouTube , The College Tour website , IMDb TV and on streaming apps.

ASU's biggest virtual campus tour ever now streaming on Amazon Prime Video

New tv series features students sharing personal stories about their asu experience.

ASU metro-Phoenix campus

Editor’s note:  This story is featured in the  2021 year in review .

As COVID-19 continues to make visiting college campuses a challenge for prospective students and families, ASU is stepping up and taking an innovative approach to allow students to tour ASU, all from the comfort of their living room sofas. Introducing the ASU College Tour , a 60-minute episode about ASU in the new Hollywood-produced series, " The College Tour , " now streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Roku.

The new series was the brainchild of host Alex Boylan, an Emmy-nominated television personality and producer, most recognizable as a past winner of " The Amazing Race."

“My niece is now looking at colleges and with her family on a budget, she couldn’t tour as many colleges as she hoped,” Boylan. “I thought, what an amazing opportunity to showcase different universities to place-bound students around the country through a professionally produced television show.”

"The College Tour" was born and ASU is one of the first universities to be featured.

ASU’s full episode of the College Tour can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video, Roku and on ASU’s YouTube channel.

“In a challenging year for many families, we knew that we needed to put in action bold ideas to help prospective students learn about the amazing university experience waiting for them at ASU,” said Matt Lopez , associate vice president of enrollment services and executive director of admission services. “Giving our current students the chance to tell their stories on platforms as far-reaching as Amazon Prime Video and Roku was an exciting way to meet families where most of us are right now – at home.”

Throughout the episode, which provides a sweeping visual tour of ASU, 18 Sun Devils share their personal academic journeys at the most innovative university in the country. One of those students is Lily Baye-Wallace, a mechanical engineering major and dance minor, whose segment on the show provides viewers an overview of ASU’s world-class academics.

“I was thrilled to participate in ASU’s episode of The College Tour,” Baye-Wallace said. “I want to help prospective students understand that while ASU is by no means exclusive, it is home to incredible research and academic options that enabled me to graduate early with experience in a variety of fields by simply asking me to participate. My story is not unique either. I'm surrounded by peers that have multiple majors, minors and graduate a semester or even a year ahead when that's often impossible — not to mention expensive — at private universities."

Nikhil Dave, a double major in neuroscience and innovation in society, is another student featured. He narrates his story called, “What kind of university the world needs.”

“Our focus on accessibility is something that’s unique to Arizona State University, not only as a university, but for its students,” said Dave, a recent XPRIZE winner who assisted with ASU’s COVID-19 response efforts through the university’s Luminosity Lab . “In emphasizing inclusivity, our students have the opportunity to encounter diverse perspectives and different backgrounds, challenging their thinking and pushing them to grow.”

ASU’s episode focuses on student choices and personalized learning experiences available on ASU’s distinct campuses as well as through ASU Online. The desire to learn on a smaller, tight-knit campus with a focus on technology is one of the reasons why Rachael Shantz chose the Polytechnic campus. She’s a junior majoring in aeronautical management technology (air traffic management). In "The College Tour," she explains that she wanted a small college environment with the benefits of a large institution.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that the Polytechnic campus is truly where I belong,” Shantz said. “And I firmly believe that with all of the options and opportunities available to you at Arizona State, you can find where you belong too.”

“We are deeply impressed and grateful for the amazing students that volunteered their time and talents to tell the ASU story so well,” said Kent Hopkins , vice president for enrollment services. “When designing new ways for prospective students to experience ASU, we always want to highlight the stories of the amazing students that make up our university community. Our students are our best storytellers, and these 18 students have created something special for high school students around the world to learn about ASU.”

Boylan, the show's host, tells ASU News that the crew was impressed by the inclusivity of ASU during filming, as well as ASU’s diversity of locations and experiences available to students.

“Almost every student touched upon inclusivity in the episode and it was so awesome to see it up close and personal while filming on campus," Boylan said. “The second big takeaway is how impressive ASU students are. I’ve been on many college campuses and after meeting these students, one thing is clear – these young people are going to change the world for good.”

ASU invites prospective students and their families to a virtual ASU College Tour Watch Party at 6 p.m. (MST) on March 4. During the hourlong party, viewers will get the chance to meet Boylan and a panel of students featured in the ASU College Tour and watch select segments from the episode. President Michael Crow and Provost Pro Tempore Nancy Gonzales will also join the event to greet prospective students and families and answer questions about ASU. Attendees can submit questions to the panelists live by tweeting them using #TheCollegeTourASU on Twitter.

YPSILANTI, MI – An Amazon Prime show about the journeys of college students is coming to the Eastern Michigan University campus.

“The College Tour,” hosted by Alex Boylan, who won “The Amazing Race” on CBS in 2002, will cover the lives of 10 students on the Ypsilanti campus, university officials said.

The show is meant to promote college campuses by detailing life through academics, sports, career preparation and other collegiate aspects.

“We want viewers to see the impact of the investments in providing students with the tools and spaces needed to pursue their passions and find a fulfilling career,” Katie Condon-Martin, the university’s vice president of enrollment management, said in a statement. “Additionally, the students selected for EMU’s episode exemplify the strong connections forged with faculty and staff, demonstrating the supportive environment that defines the EMU experience.”

The Ypsilanti university is the first public institution in Michigan to participate in the show, officials said. Siena Heights University, a private college in Adrian, was featured in season six of the show, entering its 12th season.

Ten students were chosen for the program out of 80 applicants, officials said. One of the students starring in the episode will be freshman Aniseh Jaber, who studies exercise science, prosthetics and orthotics.

She will discuss how her time at EMU and its professors and resources are helping her reach her career goals.

“I came to EMU because I have always had a passion for the medical field and for building a pathway for people to access health care,” Jaber said in a statement. “I want to create a business that gives these (prosthetic) devices to people who need them for free.”

The other students to be featured are:

  • Elena Davis, junior, majoring in public relations
  • Hamzah Dajani, junior, majoring in finance and accounting
  • Wynton Love, junior, majoring in cybersecurity
  • Kyle Martin, senior, majoring in environment science
  • Lamarr Mitchell, graduate student majoring in business administration

  • Fah Pitaktouyhan, graduate student, majoring in human resources and organizational development

ODU Students Featured in Amazon Prime’s ‘The College Tour’ TV Series

students standing while each holding a framed movie poster

By Kenya Godette

Old Dominion University has made history as the first and only institution in Virginia to participate in the award-winning Amazon Prime TV Series “ The College Tour .” On April 6 at 9 a.m. in the Big Blue Room at Chartway Arena, nearly 500 incoming ODU students along with faculty and staff gathered for a "blue" carpet event to view a private screening of ODU’s episode.

Amazon Prime will release ODU’s episode for public view on May 28 but the segment is currently available on ODU’s website .

“The College Tour”—hosted and produced by “The Amazing Race” winner Alex Boylan—gives an inside look at what campus life is like at universities across the country and around the world. Chronicled through the eyes of current students, each episode captures everything from academics and housing to sports and career preparation. In fact, in ODU’s episode, students delve into topics like Greek life, ODUGlobal  and studying abroad.

The series has aired 150 episodes since its debut in 2020.

The blue carpet event kicked off with a welcome from Jaime Hunt, vice president of University Communications . Hunt shared the inspiration behind “The College Tour,” explaining that Boylan created the show after his niece was unable to visit certain campuses during her college selection process.

“Especially after the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever to make higher education accessible to everyone,” Hunt said. “’The College Tour’ provides prospective students access to college campuses they otherwise might not see, and I am excited that ODU will now be introduced to a newer, wider audience.”

Before the screening, Boylan introduced ODU’s episode via video.

“It was such a pleasure to highlight these amazing individuals and take a trip around such a beautiful, dynamic campus,” Boylan said. “I can’t wait for you to see this episode, to see Old Dominion through the eyes of those who have found a home here.”

After attendees viewed the episode, Hunt introduced TeCarla Moore, ODU assistant director of undergraduate admissions, who acted as host of a Q&A panel with ODU’s “The College Tour” student participants.

Students shared their thoughts about why they decided to participate, how the experience impacted them and how the episode captured the essence of the ODU they’ve come to love.

“ODU is so diverse,” said Majorie Cenese, electrical engineering major and computer engineering minor. “We have a strong connection with the military, some students are parents or even online students. I don’t think a lot of people truly understand that having a diverse background in classmates on campus can truly make a difference as you enter the world after college.”

Panelists also shared their thoughts about the filming process.

“The whole process of meeting with the producers and writing and giving them pictures and filming, it’s all kind of terrifying but it was a great opportunity, and I had a lot of fun with it,” said Holly Grace “HG” Bjork, cinema production major and Japanese minor.

In total, nine ODU students participated in “The College Tour.”

  • Elham Alijanpour, Ph.D. Program: Kinesiology and Rehabilitation; Minor in Biomechanics (College of Health Sciences)
  • Holly Grace “HG” Bjork, cinema production major, Japanese minor (College of Arts and Letters)
  • Irv Castillo, biomedical sciences major, pre-health concentration (College of Sciences)
  • Marjorie Cenese, electrical engineering major, computer engineering minor (Batten College of Engineering and Technology)
  • Hadley Deputy, tourism and hospitality management major, marketing minor (Darden College of Education and Professional Studies)
  • Brandon K. Hedgepeth, Graduate Program: Lifespan and Digital Communications (ODUGlobal)
  • Tessa Mati, mechanical engineering major (Batten College of Engineering and Technology)
  • Cindy Molen, public health major (College of Health Sciences)
  • Luke Scrivanich, finance major, entrepreneurship minor (Strome College of Business)

ODU faculty also contributed to the episode through writing, editing, design and video production.

  • Jaime Hunt, vice president of University Communications
  • J. Christopher Fleming, assistant vice president for Enrollment and executive director of Admissions
  • Victoria Bourne, Monarch Magazine editor
  • Jeff Cunningham, senior copywriter and content strategist for University Communications
  • Jonah Grinkewitz, assistant director of news and media relations for University Communications
  • Aaron Hodnett, senior media specialist for University Communications
  • Cetre Pegues, senior media specialist for University Communications

Fun facts from our Moscow Metro Tours:

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

According to some sources, the total length of Metro-2 reaches over 150 kilometers.

The Museum was opened on Sportivnaya metro station on November 6, 1967. It features the most interesting models of trains and stations.

Coffee Ring

The first scheme of Moscow Metro looked like a bunch of separate lines. Listen to a myth about Joseph Stalin and the main brown line of Moscow Metro.

Zodiac Metro

According to some astrologers, each of the 12 stops of the Moscow Ring Line corresponds to a particular sign of the zodiac and divides the city into astrological sector.

Astrologers believe that being in a particular zadiac sector of Moscow for a long time, you attract certain energy and events into your life.

Paleontological finds

Red marble walls of some of the Metro stations hide in themselves petrified inhabitants of ancient seas. Try and find some!

  • Every day each car in  Moscow metro passes  more than 600 km, which is the distance from Moscow to St. Petersburg.
  • Moscow subway system is the  5th in the intensity  of use (after the subways of Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Shanghai).
