This once-in-a-lifetime experience starts at the operator's private heliport in the Denali Park area. Passengers are given a safety brief before climbing aboard their aircraft for the tour. Upon takeoff, the pilot flies up and over the nearest ridgeline, plotting a course east. At first, the landscape below is tinted green with summer foliage. Amidst the lower river valleys and lush hillsides, passengers often spot moose, caribou, and grizzly bears. From these more hospitable locales, the terrain steadily rises toward the rugged peaks of the eastern Alaska Range.
Deftly maneuvering among an immense, dramatic landscape.
Although they have lower absolute elevations than Denali and its neighboring mountains, the massifs in this section of the range rise as much as 7,000 feet above the surrounding terrain. The pilot deftly maneuvers among this immense and dramatic landscape. Miles-long ice falls plunge from the peaks, huge cornices cap ridgelines, and craggy granite faces rise high.
Soon its time to land, with the pilot scouting safe sites among several glaciers cascading from the range's icefields. The touchdown is smooth, and the first steps on the glacier are memorable. For the next 20 minutes, passengers and pilot explore the ancient ice that once carved the valleys the group first flew through. The trip concludes with a spectacular return flight to the Denali Park heliport.
The Denali Glacier Landing tour averages 50 minutes of flight time, and 15 to 20 minutes of glacier time. Weather in the Alaska Range can change quickly, so guests should prepare to be flexible as the tour adjusts to suit to the conditions.

Denali Glacier Landing by Helicopter
On Denali's first glacier landing, enjoy the thrill of standing atop the historic Yanert Glacier. We cordially welcome you to experience the vast Alaskan Wilderness firsthand, fed by the steep cliff of Mt. Deborah, which looms over the glacier valley you will land in mostly explored by TEMSCO Denali.
At our private heliport, your journey begin. With your professional pilot acting as your guide, you will soar above the harsh, uneven peaks and rolling hills of the Alaskan Backcountry as you ascend the currents of the glacially fed Yanert River from takeoff. Along the trip, don't forget keep an eye out for Dall sheep, moose, bears, and caribou.
Once you touch down on the glacier you will have unrestricted access to explore the frozen terrain. Taste some of the purest water this planet has to offer. Bring home a prehistoric rock that appeared from the enormous glacier moraines' crevices. Absorb the beautiful scenery and allow your imagination to produce images that a camera could never capture. Experience the ideal blue tones, be in awe of the surrounding mountain's soaring walls, and fall in love with Alaska the way it was meant to be experienced.
Please Note: Flights are subject to cancellation based upon weather and flight conditions determined by the pilots on base. If you are staying in the Talkeetna area (McKinley Princess Lodge, Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge, etc.), you are approximately 100 miles from the Denali Park main gate area, from which this tour departs. You would be responsible for your own transportation to the Denali area.

Helicopter Tour with Glacier Landing
Tour Provided By: Temsco Helicopters
Tour Dates: 5/15/24–9/13/24
- Ages 2 & up: $595
- Under age 2: Free (lap child)
Tour Description
Walk upon an ancient glacier tucked away deep in the Alaska Range. Your adventure begins at our private heliport. Immediately upon lift off, you will be immersed in the vastness of the Denali National Preserve. On your way to the massive Yanert Glacier, your pilot will serve as your guide through this unique glacially-carved environment. Soar over the rolling tundra, keeping an eye out for local residents — caribou, moose, bear, and Dall sheep. Snow capped peaks and glaciers abound on this journey before you set down on a river of ice. Enjoy 15–20 minutes of glacial exploration with endless photo opportunities.
What you need to know
- Tour includes approximately 50 minutes of helicopter time and approximately 15–20 minutes will be spent on the Yanert Glacier, for a total time of 70 minutes.
- Duration is approximately 2.25 hours Glacier overboots are provided.
- Tour provided by Temsco Helicopters
Additional Information from Temsco
Surcharge policy.
Due to weight and balance limitations, as well as guest safety and comfort, passengers weighing 250 pounds (113kg) or more will be charged an additional $100.00 to reserve adequate space onboard the helicopter. Total weight includes shoes and clothing. Surcharge must be paid at time of booking.
Baggage Policy
Temsco’s policies prohibit you from taking the following items on our aircraft/tour:
- bags or cases of any kind
- iPads or tablets
- tripods, selfie sticks or other extendible items
- water bottles or liquids.
Temsco will provide you with a secure area at our base where you may leave such items.
No smoking of any kind is allowed for the duration of the tour.
Passenger Ability/Mobility
All TEMSCO excursions are listed as “MODERATE” activity level for the following reasons:
- The distance walking from our heli base to the aircraft and the distance from the helicopters to our camp on the glacier. This is approximately 100 feet (30 meters).
- The sizeable steps that guests must navigate while getting in and out of the aircraft. These steps are approximately 18” in height.
- The natural surface of the glacier can be uneven and cracked.
- Due to liability reasons, Temsco employees cannot lift guests in or out of the helicopter. Temsco staff will be there to lend a helping hand, though ultimately guests are responsible for navigating these steps on their own.
Aircraft Seating
Temsco arranges seating based on the weight, balance, and safety of the whole departure, and cannot guarantee that groups sit together on the aircraft. Please note that Temsco will do everything possible to keep groups together for the flight portion of the tour, but we are sometimes required to split a group between multiple helicopters. All groups will be together for the glacier portion of the tour.
It is very hard to predict the weather on a glacier. Expect at least 10 degrees cooler on the glacier than in town, with heavy winds. Dress in warm layers – hats, gloves and sunglasses are highly recommended. And don’t forget a raincoat! We will provide the guests with over-boots for walking on the glacier, other clothing is not provided by Temsco.
Weather Policy
The best time to book your tour is whatever time works best for you. There is no time of day that is consistently better than the other in terms of weather. Weather in Alaska is ever changing and predicting the weather from month to month is nearly impossible.
Cancellation Policy
If you choose to cancel prior to the departure, there is a 10% cancellation fee up until 48 hours prior to the excursion. If you cancel within 48 hours, the tour becomes non-refundable. If Temsco needs to cancel due to weather or any unforeseen circumstance, you’ll receive a 100% refund.
Child Policy
A child does not need their own seat if they are under 24 months old on the day that they take the tour. These children are considered a lap child and are free of charge. A parent or guardian is responsible for holding the child securely for the entire tour. Any child 24 months of age or older is required to have their own seat per FAA regulations and therefore will require a full fare ticket for our tour.
Shuttle Availability
Complementary transportation provided from all area hotels.

Denali Park Glacier Landing
Quick Details
Availability:  May – September
Duration:Â Allow 3 hours and 45 minutes (including transfers)
Guarantee: Landings are not guaranteed and are dependent on conditions.
The only glacier landing experience offered from the Denali National Park entrance area!
We offer a variety of special flights, but this is the only one that combines both a glacier landing and a Denali encounter! Fly over and across the spine of the Alaska Range to explore the south side glacier system of Denali National Park. Land on a pristine glacier next to Denali, most often, but not always, the Ruth Glacier. Eight-passenger seating on de Havilland Turbo Beaver aircraft with all window seats and two-way headsets. Experience a total flight time of about 100 minutes, with an additional 15-20 minutes on the glacier.
Join us and stand on one of Denali’s (formerly Mt. McKinley) pristine glaciers! Our tour departs from the Healy River Airport and takes you soaring over 80 miles of the beautiful, untouched scenery of the Denali National Park. With 100 minutes of flight time, our passengers can anticipate incredible sights like: braided rivers; the Polychrome Mountains; over 600 different glaciers, including the infamous Muldrow and Ruth Glaciers; and, of course, the “High One,” Denali itself. Did you know that Denali National Park is home to around 1 million acres of ice!!
Next, you’ll begin your descent towards one of seven landing strips we use. Our primary strip (Mountain House) sits near the Great Gorge of the Ruth Glacier, the world’s deepest gorge, where you will truly feel the size and scale of the massive mountain peaks looming above! Fly between the rocky cliffs of the Moose’s Tooth and Mt. Dickey before making your final approach over deep crevasses into the Ruth Amphitheater.
After an exciting departure off of the glacier and out of the Ruth Amphitheater, we will make our way back to our airport over the park for one last glimpse of the grandeur you can only witness by airplane. Fly Denali is proud to say that we overfly more of Denali National Park than any other operator in the area. We mean it when we say “Once in a lifetime…four times a day”!

Most Beautiful Metro Stations in Moscow
Visiting Moscow? Get yourself a metro card and explore Moscow’s beautiful metro stations. Moscow’s world-famous metro system is efficient and a great way to get from A to B. But there is more to it; Soviet mosaic decorations, exuberant halls with chandeliers, colourful paintings and immense statues. Moscow’s metro is an attraction itself, so take half a day and dive into Moscow’s underground!
The best thing to do is to get on the brown circle (number 5) line since the most beautiful metro stations are situated on this line. The only exception is the metro stop Mayakovskaya one the green line (number 2). My suggestion is to get a map, mark these metro stops on there and hop on the metro. It helps to get an English > Russian map to better understand the names of the stops. At some of the metro stops, the microphone voice speaks Russian and English so it’s not difficult at all.
Another thing we found out, is that it’s worth taking the escalator and explore the other corridors to discover how beautiful the full station is.
Quick hotel suggestion for Moscow is the amazing Brick Design Hotel .
These are my favourite metro stations in Moscow, in order of my personal preference:
1. Mayakovskaya Station
The metro station of Mayakovskaya looks like a ballroom! Wide arches, huge domes with lamps and mosaic works make your exit of the metro overwhelming. Look up and you will see the many colourful mosaics with typical Soviet pictures. Mayakovskaya is my personal favourite and is the only stop not on the brown line but on the green line.
2. Komsomolskaya Station
Komsomolskaya metro station is famous for its yellow ceiling. An average museum is nothing compared to this stop. Splendour all over the place, black and gold, mosaic – again – and enormous chandeliers that made my lamp at home look like a toy.
3. Novoslobodskaya Station
The pillars in the main hall of Novoslobodskaya metro station have the most colourful stained glass decorations. The golden arches and the golden mosaic with a naked lady holding a baby in front of the Soviet hammer and sickle, make the drama complete.
4. Prospect Mira Station
The beautiful chandeliers and the lines in the ceiling, make Prospekt Mira an architectural masterpiece.
5. Belorusskaya Station
Prestigious arches, octagonal shapes of Socialistic Soviet Republic mosaics. The eyecatcher of Belorusskaya metro station, however, is the enormous statue of three men with long coats, holding guns and a flag.
6. Kiyevskaya Station
The metro station of Kiyevskaya is a bit more romantic than Belorusskaya and Prospect Mira. Beautiful paintings with classical decorations.
7. Taganskaya Station
At the main hall Taganskaya metro station you will find triangle light blue and white decorations that are an ode to various Russians that – I assume – are important for Russian history and victory. There is no need to explore others halls of Taganskaya, this is it.
8. Paveletskaya Station
Another and most definitely the less beautiful outrageous huge golden mosaic covers one of the walls of Paveletskaya. I would recommend taking the escalator to the exit upstairs to admire the turquoise dome and a painting of the St Basil’s Cathedral in a wooden frame.
Travelling with Moscow’s metro is inexpensive. You can have a lot of joy for just a few Rubbles.
- 1 single journey: RMB 50 – € 0,70
- 1 day ticket: RMB 210 – € 2,95

Wow! It is beautiful. I am still dreaming of Moscow one day.
It’s absolutely beautiful! Moscow is a great city trip destination and really surprised me in many ways.
My partner and I did a self guided Moscow Metro tour when we were there 2 years ago. So many breathtaking platforms…I highly recommend it! Most of my favorites were along the Brown 5 line, as well. I also loved Mayakovskaya, Arbatskaya, Aleksandrovski Sad and Ploshchad Revolyutsii. We’re heading back in a few weeks and plan to do Metro Tour-Part 2. We hope to see the #5 stations we missed before, as well as explore some of the Dark Blue #3 (Park Pobedy and Slavyansky Bul’var, for sure), Yellow #8 and Olive #10 platforms.
That’s exciting Julia! Curious to see your Metro Tour-Part 2 experience and the stations you discovered.
