Destruction Announce 2022 North American Tour

The post Destruction Announce 2022 North American Tour appeared first on Consequence .

German thrash veterans Destruction have announced a spring 2022 North American tour with Nervosa , Sunlord, and VX3.

The dates will support the release of Destruction’s forthcoming album, Diabolical , arriving April 8th.

The outing kicks off April 28th in Brooklyn, New York, and wraps up on May 28th in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Destruction will then appear at Maryland Deathfest the following day (May 29th) in Baltimore. You can buy tickets to the main tour dates via Ticketmaster .

“Yes — we are super thrilled: the first tour of the new record, Diabolical , will kick off in North America!” remarked Destruction’s Schmier in a press release. “We could not tour there on the last album because of the pandemic, so we made it a top priority to return as soon as the circumstances would allow us, to play for our American fans again!”

He added: “We are bringing our friends Nervosa along — they are a perfect match! We toured together before and the pits were smoking! They also haven’t toured in the USA or Canada in a long while. This is a killer package and we are super excited! See you all for a serious beating!!!”

Destruction are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. Best known for their genre-defining string of ’80s albums — Infernal Overkill , Eternal Devastation , and Release from Agony — the German thrashers have maintained a remarkable prolificacy over the years. Diabolical will be the band’s 17th studio album.

DESTRUCTION Live Concert Review (2022)!

DESTRUCTION Live Concert Review (2022)

  • Venue: Reggies  – Chicago, Illinois
  • Date : May 6, 2022
  • Special guests: NERVOSA, SUNLORD, VX36, VICIOUS ATTACK

There’s something about the Teutonic (German) thrash metal subgenre I have loved since I was a teen metalhead. Destruction has always been one of my favorite bands ever since they released their first EP in 1984, but they formed in 1982. Destruction is part of the Big 4 of Teutonic thrash metal along with Kreator, Sodom, and Tankard .

Being from Germany, the band doesn’t get to tour the U.S. that often, so it’s always a big deal when they’re able to come tour the states. I was in Chicago at Reggies Rock Club to check out the band. The band is touring in support of their recently released album, Diabolical .

DESTRUCTION

destruction band tour 2022

The band stormed the stage with their usual intensity. They opened the show with the title track to their newest album, “Diabolical”.

Before continuing with the review I wanted to take a sec to say their stage lighting was seriously flawed. The band was in shadow for the entire set. There seemed to be little to no front lighting and they were mostly lit from behind. I’m not sure if this was by choice of the band or just bad lighting from the venue. The other bands on the bill were not lit like this, so I have to assume is was the band’s choice. With such terrible lighting, it was extremely hard to shoot photos of the band and get video.

The band continued thrashing and tearing up the stage with a nice array of songs from their storied career. A few of the song highlights for me were “Mad Butcher”, “Born To Perish”, “Curse the Gods”, “Bestial Invasion” and more.

The band fairly recently had some lineup changes. When longtime founding member Mike left the band a couple of years ago, two new guitarists were added, and went from a trio to a quartet. The extra guitar adds much-needed depth to their sound. All members of the band are extremely talented musicians and excel in a live environment.

The crowd was totally into the band and were so revved up they were hard to contain. The pit was in full effect for most of the set. Destruction is one of those bands that continue to impress me every time I get the chance to see them perform. They put on a show that’s not to be missed.

For those not in the know, Nervosa is an international (mostly Brazilian and Spanish) all-female death-thrash metal band. They’ve been in existence since 2010 with four albums under their belts. The only consistent member of the band is founder and lead guitarist Prika Amaral. The band has had its fair share of members over the years, but the current lineup consists of Amaral (Lead guitar), Diva SatĂĄnica (Vocals), Mia Wallace (Bass), and Eleni Nota (Drums).

I’ve been wanting to see these gals live since their inception and only now was I able to make that come true. One thing to know about this band is they kick all forms of metal ass! They are true musicians and are heavy as hell.

Their set was killer with hits from top to bottom beginning with “Kings Of Domination”. Most of the songs in their set are from their latest album, Perpetual Chaos because this is the album that all current members played on. There are a few other songs from previous albums as well.

If anyone were to think that because these are women, they can’t play extreme metal as well as the guys
you would be dead wrong. Nerovsa is just as brutal as any other band out there. These girls are a must-see!

Sunlord is an NYC-based heavy metal band. This trio was great musicians but unfortunately put on a very boring show. There was hardly any movement by the band and were pretty much stagnant on stage.

Alfonso Ferrazza is the vocalist/guitarist and original member. Ashley Wells is their touring bassist. She looks like an adult Wednesday Adams (Not a bad thing) but looked bored as if she didn’t want to be there and everyone could tell.

The only good thing about their set was the amazing guitar solos by Ferrazza. Otherwise, it was a bust.

VX36 (No clue what their name refers to) is a speed-thrash metal band based out of Santa Rosa, California. They have been a band since 2004 and have two albums they have released and are working on their third album right now.

To be honest, I’d never heard of this band before but they impressed me. They are a very good band with a heavy sound. They were energetic on stage, especially the lead singer/guitarist Nate Klug.

I would definitely like to see these guys perform again and I will be checking them out further online.

Chicago-based death-thrash metal band formed in 2007. So far they have released two EPs and two split-releases. Their first full-length album, Declaration Of War was released in 2021.

Yes, they are a local Chicago band but have put in the required work to make themselves visible to the world. They were a great live band with a highly energetic group of guys. Pretty heavy stuff here. Check them out if you can.

As I Lay Dying Announce ‘Two Decades of Destruction’ Tour With Whitechapel + More

As I Lay Dying have an anniversary to mark, and they'll do so on their "Two Decades of Destruction" tour coming this summer. The band just announced a 30-date run that will feature support from Whitechapel , Shadow of Intent , Brand of Sacrifice and Ov Sulfur.

The tour gets underway June 10 in Las Vegas, staying strictly in the U.S. through the July 17 finale in Oklahoma City. Brand of Sacrifice and Ov Sulfur will split the trek in the opening spot with Ov Sulfur handling the opening slot from June 10-23 and Brand of Sacrifice on from June 24-July 17.

Phil Sgrosso comments, "After two years of anxiously awaiting the safe return of live events it's finally our time to get back out on the road to celebrate 'Two Decades of Destruction' with Whitechapel, Shadow of Intent, Brand of Sacrifice and Ov Sulfur. We've had enough time to fully recharge and can't wait to feel that energy of performing onstage again. We've certainly missed our fans so we look forward to reconnecting with everyone as we celebrate our 20-year milestone and get back on the road. See you soon!"

The trek comes as the band continues to support their Shaped By Fire album, with the group now making a deluxe edition of the record available complete with live and instrumental versions of the songs from the set, as well as re-interpretations of the original tracks. The group has also released a live video for "My Own Grave" that can be seen below.

The general public on-sale for the tour starts this Friday (April 1) at 10AM ET, while VIP packages will also be available. Check out all the dates, cities and venues listed below.

Animated metal band Dethklok brings tour with Babymetal to the Masonic for two nights

By Dave Pehling

Updated on: April 24, 2024 / 5:39 PM PDT / CBS San Francisco

The popular death metal band led by Brendan Small, the creative force behind popular Adult Swim animated show "Metalocalypse," Dethklok comes to the Masonic in San Francisco for two shows with co-headliners Babymetal.

Arguably the second most popular virtual band behind Gorillaz (the animated group helmed by Blur singer Damon Albarn), Dethklok made their as the stars of "Metalocalypse" when the show created by Small and partner/voice actor Tommy Blancha debuted in 2006. The world biggest death metal band in the program's absurd and surreal alternate universe, Dethklok stands as the planet's seventh largest economy despite the fact that the group's members are idiotic incompetents incapable of doing anything besides writing and performing brutal metal songs.

The quintet of singer Nathan Explosion (who was inspired by Cannibal Corpse vocalist George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher), guitarists Skwisgaar Skwigelf and Toki Wartooth, bassist William Murderface and drummer Pickles live and work in their massive fortress-like home and studio Mordhaus, venturing into the world to secure lucrative sponsorship deals and play huge concerts for their legions of fanatical followers with outlandish stage theatrics like over-the-top pyrotechnics, lasers and a giant swinging pendulum blade, inevitably resulting in widespread death and destruction.

Over the course of four seasons and a special broadcast on Adult Swim, "Metalocalypse" became one of the network's more popular shows and a favorite among musicians, with such notable figures as King Diamond, Alice Cooper, Jon Hamm, Werner Herzog, Jack Black and members of Metallica, Exodus, Emperor and Mastodon appearing on the show. Dethklok further built on its fanbase with a series of studio albums featuring the satirical songs featured the show like "Murmaider," "Bloodrocuted" and "Duncan Hills Coffee Jingle." The band also delivered entertaining live performances with widescreen clips of the animated band projected behind Small and his talented band including monster drummer Gene Hogland (Dark Angel, Death, Strapping Young Lad, Testament, Devin Townsend) and former Frank Zappa collaborator Mike Kenneally on guitar.

Dethklok would make regular festival appearances and tour with the likes of Mastodon, High On Fire, Machine Head and the Black Dahlia Murder. After the broadcast of the hour-long rock opera special, "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem" in 2013, the band continued to perform, but the project went on hiatus after the show was cancelled two years later.

The band returned to action in 2019, playing the Adult Swim Festival to ecstatic crowds. Dethklok also returned to the festival post-pandemic in 2022. The following year, Smalls was at last able to release the final chapter in the Dethklok story with the film Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar , which was accompanied by both a soundtrack and the band issuing its acclaimed fourth studio recording,  Dethalbum IV .

With the show having run its course, the band's current tour could be Dethklok's last hurrah as it takes to the road with previous touring partners and co-headliners Babymetal which stops at the Masonic for two nights starting Wednesday . A sensation in their native Japan since first forming in 2010, the group mixes elements of heavy metal with elements of J-Pop and "kawaii" -- the Japanese "culture of cuteness" as exemplified by Hello Kitty and Pokemon. Singer Suzuka Nakamoto had impressed producer Kobametal (aka Key Kobayashi) in her earlier girl groups Karen Girl's and Sakura Gakuin when he wanted to start a new band performing a heavier style of music.

Initially a successful offshoot of Sakura Gakuin, Babymetal became independent in 2013 and enjoyed growing popularity with the release of their self-titled debut the following year. Featuring Nakamoto along with fellow singers Moa Kikuchi (also a member of Sakura Gakuin) and Yui Mizuno executing synchronized dance moves and melodic vocals backed by a group of shredding metal session players known as the Kami Band, the album delivered a dizzying juxtaposition of sunshine pop and metallic crunch. The band rocketed to success in Japan and were playing sold-out shows to thousands when the girls were still in their teens.

The notoriety in their native land soon led to international touring in Europe and North America, with Babymetal appearing at major metal festivals and opening for Lady Gaga. By the time the band was set to release their sophomore album Metal Resistance in 2016, they were headlining Wembley Arena in London and the huge Tokyo Dome to 55,000 screaming fans. More high-profile support gigs with the Red Hot Chili Peppers followed.

While the band suffered some hardship with the accidental death of guitarist Mikio Fujioka late in 2017 after he fell from an observation deck and the departure of Mizuno due to health reasons the next year, Babymetal continued to tour and in 2023 announced the addition of Momoko Okazaki as Fujioka's permanent replacement. The band plays fan favorites and songs from its fourth album The Other One  at the Masonic. Opening acts on the two nights will be different, with hyper-technical British power metal band DrangonForce playing Wednesday and theatrical LA-based melodic death metallers Nekrogoblikon kicking off the show Thursday.

Dethklok and Babymetal Wednesday-Thursday, April 24-25, 6 p.m. $75.75 The Masonic

The 33-show tour, produced by Live Nation, will feature support from Mudvayne and All That Remains.

The two-month tour will kick off on Aug. 2 in Rogers, AR before hitting cities in Texas, California, Nevada, Florida, North Carolina and more.

They most recently released their 2022 album "The Sick, The Dying...And The Dead!"

“Our ‘Crush The World’ tour has been a tremendous experience for the four of us,” said singer/guitarist Dave Mustaine in a statement.

“We are all playing tight, and that has made it possible for me to really focus on solos and singing, we are playing more songs than ever before, and we are closer to each other, onstage AND off. I’m excited to see Mudvayne, and All That Remains. Join us as we DESTROY ALL ENEMIES.”

MEGADETH recently announced a North American tour "Destroy All Enemies" , produced by Live Nation . Support on the 33-city trek, which includes stops in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston and St. Louis, will come from MUDVAYNE and ALL THAT REMAINS . The tour begins in Rogers, Arkansas on August 2 and runs throughout the month before wrapping in Nashville, Tennessee on September 28.

Finnish guitarist Teemu MĂ€ntysaari joined MEGADETH last September after the band's longtime axeman Kiko Loureiro , announced earlier that month that he would sit out the next leg of MEGADETH 's "Crush The World" tour in order to stay home with his children back in Finland. It was later revealed that MĂ€ntysaari would continue to play guitar for MEGADETH for the foreseeable future, with Loureiro seemingly having no plans to return.

The 37-year-old MĂ€ntysaari was born in Tampere, Finland and began playing guitar at the age of 12. In 2004, he joined the band WINTERSUN . He has also been a member of SMACKBOUND since 2015.

MEGADETH played its first concert with MĂ€ntysaari on September 6, 2023 at Revel in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Loureiro officially joined MEGADETH in April 2015, about five months after Chris Broderick 's exit from the group.

Since its inception in 1983, MEGADETH has ascended from its raw thrash metal roots to become an unstoppable force in the heavy metal world. With founder Dave Mustaine at the helm, MEGADETH 's journey has been marked by a penchant for pushing the boundaries of speed, technicality, and complexity in their music. Their groundbreaking album "Rust In Peace" , released in 1990, is frequently cited as a seminal work in the thrash metal genre. Along with the critically acclaimed "Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?" , it cemented MEGADETH 's place in the annals of metal history.

Over four decades, the band's discography has earned numerous certifications, including platinum and multi-platinum awards, with albums like "Countdown To Extinction" and "Youthanasia" achieving widespread critical acclaim. 2016's "Dystopia" not only marked a high point with their first Grammy Award for "Best Metal Performance" after twelve nominations but also set the stage for their latest triumph, "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" in 2022. MEGADETH 's status as part of the "Big Four" of thrash metal underscores their trailblazing role in the genre, laying the groundwork for countless bands and musicians who have followed in their wake.

The guide will not only help you navigate the metro, but will also provide you with fascinating background tales for the images you see and a history of each station.

And there some stories to be told during the Moscow metro tour! The deepest station - Park Pobedy - is 84 metres under the ground with the world longest escalator of 140 meters. Parts of the so-called Metro-2, a secret strategic system of underground tunnels, was used for its construction.

During the Second World War the metro itself became a strategic asset: it was turned into the city's biggest bomb-shelter and one of the stations even became a library. 217 children were born here in 1941-1942! The metro is the most effective means of transport in the capital.

There are almost 200 stations 196 at the moment and trains run every 90 seconds! The guide of your Moscow metro tour can explain to you how to buy tickets and find your way if you plan to get around by yourself.
