Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades) Cruise Parking (Where to Park): Prices, Profiles, & Map

Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale has plenty of parking options, all located convenient to the cruise port itself. But that doesn’t mean you’ll pay the same price everywhere. In fact, you could save considerably just by picking the right cruise parking option. (Planning to stay the night in Fort Lauderdale fore your cruise? You can save money by booking one of these hotels with cruise parking .)

Port Everglades cruise parking

That said, the price charged by the port (now $20 per day) is reasonable when compared to other departure ports and it’s right at the ships. If you’re wanting a nice mix of value and convenience, then parking at the port is hard to beat.

Even so, there are less expensive spots to park during your cruise. We’ve rounded up your best options — including information about each — below. And for your convenience we’ve also created this easy table to help you compare all of your options.

Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking Options

Port Everglades Official Parking The official parking provided by the port is by far the most convenient. There are two main garages. The Northport parking garage (now called the Heron garage) has 1,800 spaces and serves cruise terminals 2 and 4. The Midport garage (now called the Palm garage) serves terminals 19, 21, 25, 26, and 29 with 2,000 spots. In addition there are surface lots available at the port with another 1,000 parking spots for other terminals and overflow parking. This includes a lot for Royal Caribbean’s Terminal 18.

Parking fares are $20 per day for a regular car; $25 for oversized vehicles. Keep in mind those rates are likely to give you garage parking, which makes the cost an even better value. As well, you can’t beat the location right next to the cruise terminals.

One note — if you have a Florida toll exemption permit, a specially modified vehicle (ramps or special controls) for the disabled, or a disabled veteran license plate (any state), then you can have your parking fees waved.

  • Cost: $20.00 per day
  • Distance: At terminal

  • Phone: 954-523-3404

Park by the Ports The cheapest option we found for parking in Fort Lauderdale for a cruise, this lot is located south of the airport and cruise port. While it is a little farther from the port than other lots, it is also among the cheapest. We found rates starting at just $9.99 per day plus taxes/fees.

The free shuttle (for the first four passengers in a car, $8 after that) to the port takes only about 10 minutes to ride to the ship. Note that there is no RV parking available at this location.

  • Cost: $9.99 per day (plus taxes)
  • Distance: 4 miles (free shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.parkbytheports.com/
  • Phone: 954-727-5566

Park ‘N Go Park ‘N Go offers parking just a few blocks from the port, but for much cheaper than you’ll pay at official port parking. If booked online ahead of time, Park ‘N Go offers a discounted rate. In our search, we found rates of $12.00 per day, plus taxes and fees. That’s just over half the cost of parking at the cruise port.

If you decide to use this service, we highly recommend booking online before hand. While the Internet rate we found was around $12.00 plus tax, the drive-up rate was more expensive. Park ‘N Go also offers a free shuttle ride to the port.

  • Cost: $12.00 per day (plus taxes) when booked online ($15 drive up)
  • Distance: 0.75 miles (free shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.bookparkngo.com/
  • Phone: 888-764-7275

Tropical Airport Parking Instead of a traditional parking lot, Tropical Airport Parking works with local hotels to use some of their parking lot space for passengers. So hotels get to fill up some of their empty parking and cruise passengers get discounted rates.

Our search found parking at several different area hotels — Hilton Garden Inn, Fairfield Inn, Homewood Suites, and SpringHill Suites. All are relatively close to the port (10-15 minutes). Rates vary, but we found them starting around $7.45 per day. With taxes/fees, you can expect the price for a 7-day cruise to run about $60.

A shuttle runs to the port at specified times for $20 per person each way.

  • Cost: $7.45-$11.99 per day (plus taxes)
  • Distance: Varies ($20 pp shuttle provided)
  • Website: https://www.tropicalairportparking.com/
  • Phone: 954-278-1990

Self Park FLL Located on the south side of the Fort Lauderdale airport, this parking lot is a bit farther than the rest of the lots we’ve covered. However, it is still plenty close and offers both covered and uncovered parking for both airport and cruise passengers.

During our search, we found rates of $8.95 per day for self-parking, which is uncovered. Including taxes and fees, that came to about $81 for a week-long cruise. Want to park in a covered spot? In that case it is $16.95 per day. That adds up to $144 for a week cruise after taxes and fees.

Note: This lot does have shuttle service to the cruise port. So once you park, you will need to arrange an Uber/Lyft to the port and back.

  • Cost: $8.95 per day (plus taxes) outdoor, $16.95 for indoor
  • Distance: 3 miles
  • Website: https://www.selfparkfll.com/
  • Phone: 844-727-5355

Individual Hotels If you are staying in the Fort Lauderdale area, contact your hotel to see if they will allow you to park your car for the length of your cruise.

Many hotels cater to cruisers and have special daily parking rates. In some cases, parking can be as little as $5 per day . Here is a list of hotels in the area with cruise parking .

Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking Cost

The price for Fort Lauderdale cruise parking will vary widely depending on where you want to park. Port Everglades itself has the most expensive option at $20 per day, but it is right at the cruise terminal, offering convenience. Park by the Ports charges just $9.99 per day during our search (plus taxes/fees), but requires a shuttle to get to the ship.

Keep in mind that lots will also have taxes and fees (prices are already included in the port’s official lots) that brings prices closer together. In total, expect to spend from around $65-$120 for a one-week cruise.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Am I Being Charged for 8 Days of Parking for a 7-Day Cruise? You’ll notice that lots charge by the day. For some, they count each day that you park there as a full day. So if you arrive a noon on Sunday for a 7-day cruise, that first Sunday is a full day. When to get back to port the next Sunday, you’ll also be charged for that day too, even though you will usually leave by 8-10 a.m. It can be frustrating, but that’s the way it is.

Is Free Parking Available Anywhere? South Florida is densely populated, which means parking space is at a premium. The only place that will have free parking are some hotels that offer park and cruise deals to entice guests. Everywhere else will charge you to park.

If you are disabled, then you might qualify for free parking at Port Everglades. Those with toll exemptions permits, specially modified vehicles or disabled veteran plates can get free parking .

What’s the Cheapest Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking? The cheapest lot we’ve found is hotel parking with Tropical Airport Parking. They offer rates around $7.50 per day for a cruise. That’s hard to beat and is significantly less than the cost of parking at the Port Everglades cruise terminals. Just note that the shuttle is $20 per person, each way.

Are Reservations Required? Reservations for parking depend on the lot. If parking at the port itself, then reservations are not required (nor are they accepted). You simply show up and park. For independent parking lots, it’s a good idea to book ahead of time. Not only does this give you a guaranteed spot, but it often provides a discount off the drive-up rate as well.

Hi there We are arriving on the Marella Discovery cruise ship at the beginning of June and wondered how easy it is the walk from the terminal into downtown Fort Lauderdale especially around the canals and waterways

It’s not easy. You’ll want to get an Uber/Lyft or taxi into town.

Has anyone taken a 12 passenger van to the port and used the parking garage? or has anyone used the surface parking near the garage?

I have done Park ‘N Go a few times, but have not done the Port Everglades Official Parking. So I wonder if your statement that “The official parking provided by the port is by far the most convenient” is true. Park ‘N Go (and maybe other off-site facilities) offer a valet service where you pull-in, unload your luggage (or sometimes they unload it for you), and you get transported to the front steps of the port terminal. I suspect there may be a lot more walking involved at the official parking, and if you didn’t drop off your luggage beforehand, you’ll be hauling it from your car to the terminal. That doesn’t seem as “convenient” as the off-site parking options. The only thing inconvenient is the shuttle ride, which pales in comparison to dragging your luggage through the parking lot.

We think parking literally across the street from the ship is most convenient. Plus, you don’t have to wait on shuttles coming or going. Get off the ship, walk to your car, and you’re off.

That said, we typically opt for independent lots when we cruise due to the cost savings. But in our mind parking at the port is much more convenient.

You list the price of Park by the Ports as $6 per day, but when I went to make the reservation, the price was $8.99 per day for a regular size car. That’s a 50% discrepancy. A huge difference! Please update your information.

Thanks for letting us know. Keep in mind that rates can and do change based on season, economic conditions, etc.

We parked in the cruise ship lot on Monday 7/22 and due to medical problems we had to leave cruise on Wed 7/24. How do we retrieve our vehicle from parking lot before return of cruise ship on Sat 7/27??? Val

Sorry to hear that. You should call the port directly and explain the situation. You can reach the port at 954-523-3404

What is the closest to the port everglade to park and go .

I am looking for some info please. I am a crew member who will be sailing on the Zuiderdam from Dec 6 and am wanting long term parking at the port Everglades port (Month to month) as I will be docking there every 10/11days and will need access to my car. How do I get monthly rates ? Thanks in advance

Brent, we’d suggest calling the parking lots directly. They will likely let you park at a discount for the long stay.

Park By the Ports is charging 9.99 per day for a regular sized car.

Read your recomendation for cruise parking at ft lauderdale for park n go, your article states that park n go charge $8 per day, Just been on their website and they are charging $15 per day, or $13.5 per day if booked online.

Thanks for letting us know. We looked into it. You’ll find cheaper rates for booking farther in advance. Rates are higher if booking closer to the cruise date.

Cruise Planning Tips

Ultimate guide to fort lauderdale cruise parking options.

' src=

As an experienced cruise enthusiast, I understand how crucial it is to secure the ideal parking space for my voyage departing from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.

That’s why I’ve created the Ultimate Guide to Fort Lauderdale Cruise Parking Options. This comprehensive guide is packed with all the information you need to make an informed decision about where to park.

From the official port garages to off-site options, I’ve got you covered.

So sit back, relax, and let me guide you to stress-free parking for your next cruise adventure.

Table of Contents

Key Takeaways

  • Port Everglades offers two main garages (Northport and Midport) as well as surface lots for parking.
  • Parking fares at Port Everglades are $15 per day for regular cars and $19 for oversized vehicles.
  • Off-site parking options include Park by the Ports, Park N Go, Tropical Airport Parking, and Self Park FLL.
  • Prices for Fort Lauderdale cruise parking can vary, but expect to spend $65-$120 for a one-week cruise.

Port Everglades Official Parking

The Port Everglades official parking offers two main garages, the Northport parking garage (Heron garage) and the Midport garage (Palm garage).

When it comes to parking fees, regular cars are charged $15 per day, while oversized vehicles are charged slightly higher at $19 per day.

The benefits of garage parking at Port Everglades Official Parking are numerous. Firstly, it offers better value for money compared to surface lots and off-site parking options.

Secondly, the garages provide protection from the elements, ensuring that your vehicle remains safe and secure during your trip.

Additionally, the garages are conveniently located near the terminals, making it easy to access your vehicle upon your return.

Overall, opting for garage parking at Port Everglades Official Parking is a wise choice for both regular cars and oversized vehicles.

Off-Site Parking Options

I found some affordable off-site parking options near the port. When comparing the prices between off-site parking options and the official port parking, there are some pros and cons to consider.

Firstly, off-site parking options such as Park by the Ports offer cheaper rates starting at $6.99 per day plus taxes and fees. This can be a significant cost savings compared to the $15 per day fee for the official port parking. However, it’s important to note that the official port parking includes taxes and fees, whereas off-site parking may have additional charges.

Another advantage of off-site parking is the availability of free shuttle services to the port. Park by the Ports, Park N Go, and Tropical Airport Parking all offer free shuttle rides, making it convenient for passengers to reach their cruise terminal. On the other hand, the official port parking does not provide shuttle services, so passengers would need to arrange their own transportation.

One disadvantage of off-site parking is the distance from the port. While these parking lots are located relatively close to the port, it may still take 10-15 minutes to reach the terminal. In contrast, the official port parking is right at the port, ensuring a shorter distance to walk or drive to the cruise terminal.

Park by the Ports

Located south of the airport and cruise port, Park by the Ports offers affordable parking rates starting at $6.99 per day plus taxes and fees.

Here are four reasons why Park by the Ports is a great choice for your cruise parking:

Cheapest rates: With rates starting at just $6.99 per day, Park by the Ports provides the most affordable parking option in Fort Lauderdale for your cruise. You can save money without compromising on convenience.

Shuttle service: Park by the Ports offers a free shuttle to the port, ensuring a hassle-free and convenient transfer from the parking lot to your cruise ship. The shuttle can accommodate up to four passengers for free, with a nominal fee of $8 for additional passengers.

Convenient location: Being located south of the airport and cruise port, Park by the Ports is in close proximity to your departure point. This means less time spent traveling and more time enjoying your cruise vacation.

No RV parking available: Park by the Ports specializes in parking for regular cars and does not offer RV parking. This ensures that the parking lot is exclusively dedicated to accommodating your vehicle for the duration of your cruise.

Choose Park by the Ports for the cheapest rates and reliable shuttle service, making your cruise parking experience stress-free and affordable.

Park N Go offers a cheaper alternative to official port parking and provides a free shuttle ride to the port. When comparing parking rates between Park N Go and Port Everglades official parking, Park N Go comes out as the more affordable option. While the official port parking charges $15 per day, Park N Go offers discounted rates when booked online, typically around $12.00 per day. However, it is important to note that the drive-up rate at Park N Go is more expensive.

As for the pros and cons of using Park N Go for cruise parking, the main advantage is the cost savings. By choosing Park N Go, travelers can save a significant amount of money compared to parking at the official port lots. The free shuttle ride to the port adds to the convenience of using Park N Go. However, it is worth considering that availability may be limited, especially during peak travel seasons.

Tropical Airport Parking

Tropical Airport Parking works with local hotels to provide affordable parking options near the port. Here are some key features of Tropical Airport Parking:

Shuttle service and partner hotels: Tropical Airport Parking offers a convenient shuttle service to the port. In addition, they have partnered with hotels such as Hilton, Fairfield Inn, Homewood Suites, and SpringHill Suites to provide parking options for cruise passengers.

Comparison of convenience with port parking: While port parking may seem like the most convenient option, Tropical Airport Parking offers a comparable level of convenience. With their shuttle service, you can easily get to the port from their parking lot, which is only 10-15 minutes away. Plus, their rates starting around $7.95 per day are often more affordable than port parking fees.

If you’re looking for affordable parking near the port, Tropical Airport Parking is a great option to consider.

Self Park FLL

I personally find the rates for Self Park FLL to be quite reasonable for both covered and uncovered parking options. The convenience of having my vehicle protected from the elements is definitely worth the slightly higher price of $15.49 per day. Additionally, the shuttle service provided by Self Park FLL ensures a hassle-free transportation experience to the cruise port. To emphasize the comparison between the covered and uncovered parking options, I have created a table below:

As you can see, the covered parking option is slightly more expensive, but it offers the added benefit of protection from the sun and rain. Overall, Self Park FLL provides a reliable shuttle service and competitive rates for both covered and uncovered parking options.

Individual Hotels

When it comes to finding parking for your cruise at Fort Lauderdale, don’t forget to consider the option of individual hotels.

Many hotels in the area offer cruise parking at special daily rates for cruisers. The availability of hotel parking can be a convenient and cost-effective choice for travelers. You may find prices as low as $5 per day, depending on the hotel and its location.

It’s important to contact your hotel in advance to inquire about availability and make a reservation if necessary. This way, you can secure your parking spot and potentially enjoy additional benefits such as shuttle services to the port.

Is the Parking Options Guide for Fort Lauderdale Cruise applicable to Tampa Cruise as well?

Yes, the Parking Options Guide for Fort Lauderdale Cruise can be applicable to Tampa Cruise as well. However, there are limitations on transfers. The credit cannot be transferred to another booking or to someone outside of your booking.

It is important to note that once the sail date has passed, the onboard credit is no longer transferable. So, make sure to plan ahead and make any necessary transfers before your cruise begins.

To use your onboard credit effectively, consider planning ahead. Research the various offerings on the ship, such as spa treatments, specialty dining, or excursions, and budget accordingly. Prioritize your spending based on your interests and preferences.

So grab your boarding pass, because it’s time to set sail on a stress-free adventure!

  • Early arrival allows for a smooth and stress-free start to the vacation
  • Factors to consider before choosing an arrival time include the port’s boarding process, transportation arrangements, traffic conditions, and parking time
  • Arriving early for a cruise provides more time to explore the ship, beat the crowds, and familiarize yourself with the ship’s layout and amenities
  • Potential consequences of arriving late include missing the ship’s departure, losing out on activities and dining options, incurring additional expenses, and disrupting the overall enjoyment of the cruise vacation.

Understanding the Importance of Early Arrival

To fully understand the importance of early arrival for your cruise, you should take into consideration the potential long lines and security procedures. Arriving early gives you the opportunity to take advantage of pre-boarding advantages and ensure a smooth and stress-free start to your vacation.

By getting to the port ahead of the majority of passengers, you can avoid the crowds and reduce waiting times. This allows you to maximize your time on board and take advantage of the ship’s amenities and activities. Time management strategies play a crucial role in making the most of your cruise experience, and arriving early is a key component of effective planning.

Now that we understand the importance of early arrival, let’s explore the factors to consider before choosing an arrival time.

Factors to Consider Before Choosing an Arrival Time

Factors to consider before choosing an arrival time for a cruise include the port’s boarding process and your transportation arrangements. It is important to have some arrival flexibility to account for any unforeseen delays or changes in your plans. When deciding on an arrival time, it’s crucial to take into account the transportation options available to you. Will you be driving to the port? If so, consider traffic conditions and the time it will take to park your vehicle. Are you taking a shuttle or taxi? Factor in the potential for traffic or limited availability. By carefully considering these factors, you can ensure a smooth and stress-free arrival at the port.

Now, let’s explore the benefits of arriving early for your cruise.

The Benefits of Arriving Early for Your Cruise

One advantage of arriving at the port ahead of schedule is that you’ll have more time to explore the ship and settle into your cabin. By arriving early, you can take advantage of the benefits and advantages that come with it.

Firstly, you’ll have the opportunity to beat the crowds and avoid long lines during the check-in and boarding process. This means less waiting time and a smoother experience overall.

Additionally, arriving early allows you to familiarize yourself with the ship’s layout and amenities before it gets too busy. You can find your way around, locate the dining venues, entertainment areas, and other facilities without feeling rushed.

This early arrival also gives you the chance to relax and unwind, ensuring that you start your cruise vacation on a stress-free note.

Now, let’s move on to some tips for a smooth check-in and boarding process.

Tips for Smooth Check-In and Boarding Process

When it comes to cruising, there are a few key points to keep in mind for a smooth check-in and boarding process.

First, knowing the optimal arrival time is crucial to avoid long lines and unnecessary stress.

Second, understanding the check-in essentials, such as necessary documents and luggage requirements, will help expedite the process.

Lastly, effective boarding time management, which includes following instructions and being prepared, will ensure a seamless start to your cruise vacation.

Optimal Arrival Time

To ensure a smooth embarkation process, you should aim to arrive at the cruise terminal at least two hours before your scheduled departure time. Optimal planning and an effective arrival strategy can make a significant difference in your overall cruise experience. Here are three key reasons why arriving early is essential:

Expedited Check-In: Arriving early allows you to beat the rush and avoid long lines at the check-in counters. This means you can swiftly complete the necessary paperwork and receive your cruise card promptly, getting you one step closer to enjoying your vacation.

Time to Explore: By arriving early, you’ll have ample time to familiarize yourself with the cruise terminal layout. You can take a leisurely stroll around, locate important facilities such as restrooms and dining areas, and even start exploring some of the onboard amenities.

Peace of Mind: Arriving early not only eliminates the stress of rushing, but it also gives you the peace of mind that you won’t miss your cruise departure. You can relax, knowing that you have enough time to settle in, unpack, and get ready for an incredible journey.

Check-In Essentials

Make sure to have all your necessary documents, such as your passport and boarding pass, easily accessible for a smooth check-in process. Before heading to the port, I always make sure I have my pre-check completed. This allows me to skip the long lines and go through a dedicated security screening, saving both time and stress.

Once at the port, I hand over my luggage to the staff for handling. It’s important to securely attach the provided tags to your bags before handing them over. This ensures that your luggage will be delivered to your cabin later on.

With all my documents in hand and my luggage taken care of, I’m ready to move smoothly through the check-in process and onto the next step: boarding time management. It’s important to plan ahead and arrive at the port with enough time to go through security, check-in, and be ready for boarding.

Boarding Time Management

Once you’ve completed the check-in process, it’s essential to manage your boarding time efficiently. Here are some arrival strategies to help you make the most of your boarding time:

Arrive early : Getting to the port early ensures that you have ample time to go through security, complete any necessary paperwork, and get settled on the ship.

Follow the instructions : Pay close attention to any instructions given by the cruise staff regarding boarding times and procedures.

Organize your documents : Have your passport, boarding pass, and any other necessary documents easily accessible to save time during the check-in process.

Be prepared : Make sure you have everything you need for boarding, such as a valid ID, credit card, and any required medical forms.

Stay informed : Keep an eye on the cruise line’s website or app for any last-minute changes to the boarding process.

Efficiently managing your boarding time is crucial to ensure a smooth start to your cruise experience. However, arriving late can have potential consequences that may impact your overall enjoyment of the trip.

The Potential Consequences of Arriving Late

Arriving late for a cruise can result in missing the ship and losing out on the entire vacation. Understanding the potential consequences of being late is of utmost importance.

Firstly, if you miss the ship’s departure, you will be stranded at the port, with no way of catching up to the ship until the next port of call. This means missing out on all the activities, entertainment, and dining options that the cruise ship offers.

Additionally, you will have to incur additional expenses for transportation, accommodation, and meals until you can reunite with the ship. Moreover, missing the cruise can also lead to disappointment and frustration, as you have been looking forward to this vacation for a long time.

Therefore, it is crucial to plan your journey and arrive early to avoid these potential consequences. By doing so, you can ensure a smooth and enjoyable cruise experience.

How Early Arrival Can Enhance Your Cruise Experience

Getting to the port ahead of time can greatly improve your overall experience on the cruise. By arriving early, you can avoid the stress and rush that often comes with last-minute arrivals. Here are some benefits of early arrival and pre-cruise preparations:

Smooth check-in process: Arriving early allows you to beat the crowds and ensures a faster check-in process.

Exploring the ship: Early arrival gives you ample time to explore the ship and familiarize yourself with the various amenities and facilities.

Securing preferred reservations: Whether it’s booking specialty restaurants, spa treatments, or shore excursions, arriving early increases your chances of securing your preferred reservations.

Settling into your cabin: Early arrival allows you to settle into your cabin, unpack, and start your cruise feeling relaxed and organized.

Arriving early at the cruise terminal sets the foundation for a stress-free and enjoyable cruise experience. Now, let’s discuss the best time to arrive at the terminal.

The Best Time to Arrive at the Cruise Terminal

To ensure a smooth check-in process, aim for a time when the crowds at the cruise terminal are typically lighter. Understanding the check-in process and doing some pre-cruise preparation can help make your arrival at the terminal a breeze.

The best time to arrive at the cruise terminal is usually in the late morning or early afternoon. This is when most passengers have already checked in and boarded the ship, resulting in shorter lines and less waiting time. Arriving early in the morning may mean longer lines and a longer wait, as passengers from the previous cruise are still disembarking and the ship needs to be prepared for the new guests.

By arriving at a time when the crowds are lighter, you can start your cruise experience on a positive note.

Now let’s explore how to navigate the pre-cruise activities and procedures.

Booking a cruise during the winter months allows you to take advantage of lower prices and fewer crowds. Here are some benefits and attractions of booking a cruise during this time:

Spectacular Winter Scenery: Imagine cruising through icy fjords or admiring snow-capped mountains. Winter offers breathtaking views that you won’t get during other seasons.

By booking a cruise during the winter, you can experience unique attractions and enjoy a more peaceful and affordable vacation.

But why stop there? Let’s explore why spring is an ideal time to go on a cruise.

Why Spring Is an Ideal Time to Go on a Cruise

Spring is an ideal time to go on a cruise for several reasons.

Firstly, the weather during spring is often mild and pleasant, making it perfect for outdoor activities and enjoying the open sea.

Secondly, the crowds are generally lower compared to peak summer months, allowing for a more relaxed and intimate experience.

Lastly, prices tend to be more affordable during spring, making it a great opportunity to score a bargain and enjoy all the benefits of a cruise without breaking the bank.

Weather Advantages for Spring Cruises

You’ll love the warm and pleasant temperatures on spring cruises, making it the perfect time to relax and enjoy the sunny weather. Spring weather offers a multitude of advantages for cruising.

With temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to low 80s, you can bask in the sunshine without feeling too hot or too cold. The gentle breeze adds to the overall pleasant experience, creating a comfortable atmosphere for outdoor activities and exploration.

The vibrant colors of spring, from blooming flowers to lush green landscapes, create a picturesque backdrop as you sail along. The sunny days and clear skies also provide excellent visibility, allowing you to fully appreciate the beauty of the surrounding ocean.

Plus, the moderate weather reduces the chances of encountering storms or rough seas, ensuring a smoother sailing experience. As the spring season brings lower crowds and prices, you can enjoy a more serene and affordable cruise vacation.

Lower Crowds and Prices

After enjoying the pleasant weather of spring cruises, another advantage of going on a cruise during the offseason is the lower crowds and prices. Here are four reasons why this is beneficial:

More Space: With fewer people on board, you’ll have more room to relax and enjoy the ship’s amenities without feeling crowded.

Personalized Service: The crew will have more time to attend to your needs, providing a higher level of personalized service.

Quicker Access: You’ll experience shorter lines and wait times for dining, entertainment, and disembarkation, allowing you to make the most of your time on board.

Whether you’re exploring the coastlines of New England or sailing through the Mediterranean, the autumn months offer a magical experience.

Factors to Consider When Choosing the Right Cruise Season

When it comes to choosing the right cruise season, there are a few key factors that I always consider.

First and foremost, I think about the weather and destinations. I want to make sure I’m sailing during a time when the weather is pleasant and the destinations I want to visit are at their best.

Additionally, cost and availability are important factors to consider. I want to get the best value for my money and ensure that there are plenty of options available for my preferred dates and itineraries.

Weather and Destinations

If you’re planning a cruise, you’ll want to consider the weather and destinations that are ideal for your trip. The right cruise destinations and itineraries can make all the difference in your vacation experience.

Here are some options to consider:

  • Caribbean : Immerse yourself in turquoise waters and pristine beaches.
  • Alaska : Witness breathtaking glaciers and spot wildlife in their natural habitat.
  • Mediterranean : Explore historic cities, indulge in delicious cuisine, and soak up the sun.
  • Norwegian Fjords : Marvel at the stunning fjords, waterfalls, and picturesque villages.
  • South Pacific : Dive into vibrant coral reefs and embrace the Polynesian culture.

Each destination offers unique experiences, captivating landscapes, and a chance to create unforgettable memories.

Now, let’s move on to the next section and explore the cost and availability of your dream cruise.

Cost and Availability

The cost and availability of cruises can greatly impact your vacation planning. When it comes to cruise pricing, it’s important to consider the demand and availability during different times of the year. To help you understand this better, let’s take a look at the table below:

As you can see, during high season months like July, cruise prices tend to be higher due to increased demand. On the other hand, during low season months like November, prices are more affordable. This information is crucial for your vacation planning, as it allows you to find the best cruise deals in the low season. By taking advantage of these lower prices, you can save money and still enjoy a fantastic cruise experience. Now, let’s explore how to find these amazing deals without breaking the bank.

Finding the Best Cruise Deals in the Low Season

One way to find the best cruise deals during the low season is by researching online. Online travel websites often offer exclusive deals and discounts for cruises during the off-peak months. These deals can save you a significant amount of money while still allowing you to experience the beauty and excitement of popular cruise destinations. By taking the time to search for deals online, you can find affordable options that fit within your budget.

However, finding the best cruise deals is just the first step. It’s also important to choose the right time to go based on the destination you have in mind. When it comes to cruise destinations, there are plenty of budget-friendly options available if you know where to look.

Choosing the Right Time to Go Based on Destination

When considering a destination for your cruise, it’s crucial to research the optimal time to visit. Choosing the right destination is not just about the attractions and activities available, but also about considering the weather.

Different regions have distinct climates, and the time of year can greatly affect your experience. For example, if you’re dreaming of a Caribbean cruise, it’s best to avoid hurricane season, which runs from June to November. On the other hand, if you’re planning a trip to Alaska, the summer months of June, July, and August offer the best weather for exploring the stunning glaciers and wildlife.

By taking into account the weather conditions, you can ensure that you choose the right time to visit your desired cruise destination.

Now, let’s dive into the weather considerations for different cruise months.

Weather Considerations for Different Cruise Months

When it comes to choosing the best time for a cruise, weather considerations play a crucial role. Cruising in the summer offers a multitude of benefits, including pleasant temperatures, longer daylight hours, and the opportunity to explore popular destinations during their peak season.

One popular time for spring cruises is during the months of April and May, when many destinations are starting to warm up after the winter months. From the vibrant cherry blossoms in Japan to the stunning beaches of the Caribbean, there are plenty of options to choose from.

To help you visualize the different weather conditions throughout the year, here is a table showcasing the average temperatures and rainfall for some popular cruise destinations:

Understanding the crowd levels during peak cruise season is essential for planning the perfect vacation. So let’s dive into the next section and explore how to navigate the bustling cruise ships during popular travel times.

Understanding the Crowd Levels During Peak Cruise Season

When it comes to planning a cruise, one of the key factors to consider is the crowd dynamics during peak season. Understanding how the crowd levels fluctuate can help you make informed decisions about the best time to embark on your cruise adventure.

In this discussion, we will delve into the intricacies of peak season crowd dynamics, shedding light on the best cruise season for those seeking a balance between enjoyable experiences and manageable crowds.

Peak Season Crowd Dynamics

While it’s peak season, the crowd dynamics on a cruise can vary depending on the time of year. Here are some key points to understand about the crowd dynamics during peak season:

Peak season drawbacks:

Increased number of passengers on board

Longer wait times for popular activities and amenities

Higher chance of fully booked excursions

Crowd management strategies:

Implementing timed-entry systems for popular attractions

Assigning specific dining times to evenly distribute guests

Offering alternative activities during peak hours

Navigating the crowds during peak season can be challenging, but cruise lines have implemented various strategies to ensure a smooth experience for their guests.

Now, let’s explore the best months to go on a cruise and discover the advantages of traveling during the off-peak seasons.

Best Cruise Season

To have the most enjoyable cruise experience, it’s important to consider the advantages of traveling during the off-peak seasons. Off-peak cruising, also known as shoulder season cruising, offers several benefits that can enhance your vacation.

Making the Most of Your Cruise Experience in the Shoulder Months

Plan your cruise during the shoulder months to maximize your experience and take advantage of fewer crowds and lower prices. Shoulder season destinations offer a unique opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds.

Picture yourself sailing through crystal clear waters, surrounded by stunning landscapes, and indulging in a wide range of activities. From exploring ancient ruins in the Mediterranean to snorkeling in the Caribbean, there is something for everyone during the shoulder months. Additionally, off-peak season often brings favorable weather conditions, making it an ideal time to enjoy outdoor activities and take in the stunning views from the ship.

Lastly, traveling during the off-peak season also means that cruise deals and discounts are more readily available, allowing you to save money while still enjoying all the amenities and experiences that a cruise has to offer.

Off-Peak Season Advantages

You’ll definitely enjoy the cost savings and less crowded ship during the off-peak season. One of the major advantages of traveling during this time is the lower prices. Cruise lines often offer discounted rates and special promotions to attract more travelers in the off-peak season. This means you can save a significant amount of money on your cruise vacation.

Moreover, there are fewer tourists during this time, which means you won’t have to deal with long lines or crowded spaces. You’ll have more space to relax and enjoy the amenities on board without feeling cramped.

Now, let’s talk about the weather and crowds during the off-peak season.

Weather and Crowds

There’s usually milder weather and fewer crowds during the off-peak season. Here are four reasons why cruising in the off-peak season can be beneficial:

Serene Atmosphere: With lower crowds, you can enjoy a more peaceful and relaxed ambiance on the ship. There is ample space to unwind and soak in the beauty of the ocean.

Personalized Service: The smaller number of passengers allows the crew to provide more personalized attention. Whether it’s the dining staff or the entertainment team, they can cater to your needs and preferences more effectively.

Better Deals: Off-peak season means lower demand, which translates into more affordable prices. You can often find great discounts and promotions on cruises during this time, making it a budget-friendly option.

Pleasant Weather: The off-peak season is often characterized by milder weather, with comfortable temperatures and calmer seas. This ensures a smoother sailing experience and enhances your overall enjoyment.

With these benefits in mind, it’s clear why cruising in the off-peak season is a fantastic option. Now, let’s explore the availability of cruise deals during this time.

Here is a map of the cruise terminals and parking garages/lots at Port Everglades. For the latest updates, please study the online Google Map above!

Port Everglades Terminals and Parking Map (Midport = Palm, Northport = Heron)

Officially the parking garages open at 10:30 am for entry. In reality, you can arrive earlier but on busy days the attendants may direct you to wait elsewhere.  And if you arrive too early then you have to deal with vehicles slowly departing the current cruise meaning you may not get a spot near the elevators (yet)!

  • You drive up to the cruise terminal, drop your family and/or luggage at the porters, then
  • Drive around to park your vehicle in a nearby undercover or open parking lot, and
  • Walk back to meet your family.

No hassles, no crowds, and no waiting on shuttle buses especially after your cruise when the family is tired and a bit grumpy!

TIP – Please know there are many signs and attendants ready to direct you when you arrive at the cruise terminal. DO NOT BE WORRIED about a thing! Just get yourself to the correct terminal and the attendants will show you where to drop your luggage, where to park, how to pay, etc .

This convenience is not cheap ($20 per day – you must include your departure and arrival days). Credit cards only. Attendants are available in case you need assistance.

3 NIGHT CRUISE – $80 4 NIGHT CRUISE – $100 5 NIGHT CRUISE – $120 6 NIGHT CRUISE – $140 7 NIGHT CRUISE – $160 8 NIGHT CRUISE – $180

Oversized vehicles such as RVs must park in open-surface lots nearby. Special rates apply.

For the latest information please visit the Official Port Everglades Parking website

Specific Terminal Notes:

Port Everglades has installed new, colorful, driver-friendly wayfinding signs in the parking garages, parking lots, and throughout the Port’s roadways.

The signs feature Florida wildlife and fauna with illustrations of a bright orange heron (bird) in the port’s Northport section, a green palm (plant)  in Midport, and a blue snook (fish) directing customers to Southport.

When you arrive at any of the three port entry checkpoints, an electronic information board displays your ship name and cruise terminal. Then you follow the signs to your terminal and parking garage or lot.

Cruise Parking at Port Everglades - Port Entrance

We suggest:

  • Use the 17th Street (Eisenhower Blvd) Entrance for Terminals 2 and 4
  • Use the Eller Drive Security Entrance for Terminals 18, 19, 21, 25, 29

Terminal 2 – Carnival

Secure, Covered Parking in the 1,818-space Heron Parking Garage. An air-conditioned, elevated passenger bridge with moving sidewalks connects Terminal 2 and the Heron Garage and can be accessed from the 5th floor of the Heron Garage or the elevators on the outside of Cruise Terminal 2.

In the image below, see how you drive into Terminal 2 to drop off your luggage and passengers (ground level). Then you drive out and keep left up the ramp and into the Heron parking garage. Try to park on level 5 so you can easily get to the passenger bridge!

Port Everglades Parking Off-site Near the Port – Shuttle bus services at a lower cost

There are only two viable commercial off-site Port Everglades parking options – Park by the Ports and Park N Go as shown below.  There are also a couple of booking agents – online companies that offer parking via discounted contracts with local hotels and parking partners.

Park Port Everglades Offsite Map

If you drive up on the day of your cruise looking for discounted parking, off-site parking will save you money. You will use a shuttle bus to and from the cruise terminals – it is not as convenient as ship-side parking – but cheaper!

If you stayed at a hotel you will most likely park your vehicle at the hotel for the duration of your cruise. Generally speaking, the hotel security is not as good as the fenced & gated off-site parking facilities. So you have to consider more than just cost when comparing your parking options.

Booking Agents

When you search online for cruise parking at Port Everglades, you will see ads for several booking agents. These online agents don’t own parking lots (or transport vans in most cases). Instead, they have agreements with local hotels, parking facilities, and transport companies to sell parking spaces/transfers online – often at a discount to the consumer.

They change partners and rates quite often and it is hard to keep up with their parking options! Please visit their respective websites for the latest choices.

Typical hotels contracted close to the Port – Embassy Suites, Renaissance, Rodeway Inn, etc. There are many others but those are typically further away such as in Dania Beach near I-95.

How does it work? Typically (with exceptions – check your booking confirmation) – You will receive directions and phone numbers to call before arrival at the Parking Lots and after your cruise (wait in the shuttle area). These are on-demand services so be prepared to wait for drivers and/or representatives of the ground operators (Quick & Safe for example).

How safe is it to book parking with agents instead of booking directly with a parking facility? Agents come and go and change names and partners all the time. So it is impossible to generalize but you should be OK with established agents. Just know that you are not dealing directly with a parking facility/operator. Should something go wrong, you cannot address the problem in person at a parking facility. You must deal with an online agent who may be thousands of miles away from Fort Lauderdale! Here are two agents:

  • Rightway Parking – A nationwide agency with parking partners at many airports and cruise ports. At Port Everglades, they partner with hotels and shuttle companies (e.g. Quick & Safe, All Stars Transportation) – not with the two top parking operators. Daily rates vary considerably. See the locations on the Google MAP above.
  • Tropical Airport Parking – Partner with several hotels near Port Everglades, not with the two top parking operators. Daily rates vary considerably. You will probably use hotel shuttles and some of these cost EXTRA – please check carefully before booking.

Quick & Safe Parking

Cost Comparison

2024 rates. Always check the websites for the latest pricing because they change often. Book online for the best rates :

Ship-side parking  for 8 days, 7-night cruise –  $160

  • Park N Go . Cheaper to pay online instead of the gate = $93 for 8 days.
  • Park by the Ports . Best to book online = $94 for 8 days.

Generally speaking, the following rules apply when parking off-site:

  • Lots are secured behind a fence with security lights.
  • Port shuttles are generally free for up to 4 passengers. Extra charges apply to larger families.
  • Do not arrive before 9:30 am. The staff will be busy helping returning cruisers until then.
  • The first shuttle typically departs around 10:30 am to the ships. The last shuttle typically departs at 2:45 pm.
  • Unless valet parking is required, YOU drop YOUR passengers and luggage, then park the vehicle and walk back to the check-in point.
  • Shuttles run continuously every 15-45 minutes (depending on bookings and time of day).

Location considerations for off-site parking:

  • Park ‘N Go   – Close to the Eller Dr security checkpoint. Very easy to in and out once you figure out the directions! From I-595 east – Take the Port Everglades exit (the overpass). Make a 90-degree left at the McIntosh Rd intersection and drive 0.5 miles to the driveway on the RIGHT. (Just past the four-way traffic-light intersection). Very secure and certainly the most popular of the offsite parking operators.

Park 'N Go Entrance

  • Park by the Ports – Parking is in a back section part of the Casino parking lot in Dania Beach. The cheapest offsite option but much further away than Park N Go – about 5 miles, at least 15 minutes. While the Casino parking lot has surveillance, the vehicles are not parked behind gates. This operator offers a shuttle tracker online – a nice feature! No RV parking.

Park by the Ports Entrance

Port Everglades Parking At Hotels Near The Port

– Please look for an upcoming article about cheap hotel parking options –

We think you will find excellent parking deals at the hotels! You can expect daily parking rates starting around $6 including a return Port shuttle for at least 2 persons.

Many hotels near Port Everglades offer Park & Cruise packages with free (not really!) or discounted parking for the duration of your cruise. Park & Cruise Packages cannot be used with other discounts and there are limitations such as holiday blackouts.

TIP – Do not worry about parking until much later in the booking process. First, book the perfect hotel for your family, then start to think about your parking options.

For example, if you have young kids who like pools then pick a hotel with a fun pool design. If you want to watch the cruise ships come and go then pick another. Or do you want to overlook the ocean and beach, or just hope to stay as cheap as possible anywhere within 30 minutes or so from the port?

So how do you know if you are getting a good hotel deal?

A] ask the following questions:.

– Is breakfast included? – Are airport transfers included? You may not need this service. – Is the Park & Cruise Package available for your stay and cruise dates? – Cruise terminal shuttle transfers should be included but usually only for 2 persons (adult or child). How much will it cost for others in your family? On average expect to pay between $5 and $10 extra per person EACH WAY! – If you do not book the package, how much is parking per day for the duration of your cruise? – How long is the shuttle drive to the cruise terminal and how often do the shuttles run? Many hotels offer only one free shuttle to the cruise terminal per day – around 10:30 am – and a few return shuttles from the ships at specified times.

B] Use hotel booking sites to find the best rates for your hotel for your travel dates.

This will give you a good idea of the discounted room rate. Then you have to add the parking costs and shuttle costs to compare packages and deals.

Complete Guide to Port Everglades Parking and Hotels

Last Updated on June 13, 2023 by Greg Bessoni

The Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale is a mainstay economic hub in Florida that directly supports over 230,000 jobs locally. It’s a major cargo port for petroleum products, including jet fuel and gasoline. It holds the title of one of the top three busiest cruise ports in the world.  If you’re sailing out of Fort Lauderdale’s port and searching for Port Everglades parking, you’ve come to the right spot!

Port Everglades Cruise Parking

Cruise lines that serve Port Everglades are Carnival Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises, Royal Caribbean International, Balearia Caribbean, Cunard, and Silversea Cruises.

Parking at Port Everglades

Getting Into The Port Everglades

There are three entrances to the port. On Eisenhower Boulevard, there’s the 17th Street Causeway. On Spangler Boulevard, there’s an entrance through State Road 84. You can also get in via I-595 East. It’s recommended that you don’t arrive at Port Everglades before noon in order to avoid high traffic in the morning.

When driving into the port, make sure you have your cruise documents and government-issued photo ID handy for the security checkpoint. If you don’t drive in yourself, you can use public or private transportation to get dropped off after flying into the nearby Fort Lauderdale International Airport (only 2 miles away) or Miami Airport .

On-Site Parking At The Port Everglades

fll cruise parking

On-site Port Everglades parking garages and lots are available within walking distance. Special accommodations are available for disabled parking and oversized vehicles. Terminals 4, 18, and 19 have outdoor service lots. Garages nearby include the Northport Parking Garage and the Midport Parking Garage, and you can see the Port Everglades parking map for exact locations of car parks.

Port Everglades parking  is close to the terminals, but it’s suggested that you drop off other passengers with your luggage directly in front of your designated cruise terminal before your park the car. If you park at the Midport Garage, you can take a free shuttle straight to Terminal 29. Heron Parking Garage is near terminals 2 and 4, while Palm Parking Garage is convenient for cruisers who start their journey at terminals 19, 21, 25, 26, 27, and 29. Terminal 18 offers its own surface parking lot.

How much is parking at Port Everglades?

The price of $15 per day is the same in all surface parking lots and each cruise parking garage. Cash and credit cards are accepted as you leave the lot and finish your parking stay. If you come back to find your car with a flat tire or dead battery, emergency service is available to help.

Off-Site Port Everglades Cruise Parking

Located at 101 Eller Drive, Ft. Lauderdale, Park ‘N Go requires that you leave your keys and use their valet parking attendants to bring your car to a parking lot with security. Ratings for this service are excellent. After you drop off your keys, a shuttle service brings you to the port at no extra charge. They also provide free assistance with luggage. For this option, it’s cheaper to book in advance—the online rate is $7.99 per day.

For longer cruises, you can also try  Park ‘N Fly , which is less than a mile from the port. They provide valet parking and shuttle service directly to your cruise terminal. The cost per day is cut significantly (by almost 50%) if you plan to park for six days or more. If you won’t be back on land for a while, this is definitely an option worth checking into. The online price is $9.99 per day.

Getting Dropped Off At The Port

If you don’t want to bother with your own car, you can use rideshare, taxi, or a paid shuttle bus  available through many transportation companies. Complimentary shuttles are not available, but calling up a local car rental company will give you the current rate for a shuttle to the cruise port.

A few trains also go by the port, including Brightline, Tri-Rail, and Amtrak. Brightline provides local connections from Miami and West Palm Beach. Its Fort Lauderdale stop is located at 101 NW 2nd Avenue. The Tri-Rail is a commuter line with its nearest stop to the port located at 500 Gulf Stream Way in Dania Beach. The Tri-Rail provides direct transportation to the Miami International Airport. Amtrak stops are all over the country, and it has two locations near the Port Everglades: Fort Lauderdale Station (200 S.W. 21st Terrace) and Hollywood Station (3001 Hollywood Boulevard). Amtrak can be pricey depending on how far you plan to go, but it offers some nice perks for travelers (like WiFi).

Several local bus lines are also available to deliver you to the port. Apart from local Florida buses, you can also use larger nationwide buses ( Greyhound  and  Megabus ). If you’re staying in a hotel, call ahead about shuttle services to the cruise port. Many area hotels offer transportation to the port for guests.

Park & Cruise Deals by Fort Lauderdale Hotels

There are many Cruise & Snooze deals available at Fort Lauderdale hotels near Port Everglades. Plus, most  park and fly hotels  offer cruise options. Some examples include:

  • Hilton Garden Inn is 5 miles from the Port Everglades has a package deal that includes an overnight stay, parking for $4/day, and a 24-hour shuttle to the port.
  • A stay at the Cambria Hotel and Suites includes Port Everglades cruise parking plus a $10 shuttle to the cruise terminal.
  • If you want to stay near the airport, you can choose the Comfort Suites for as low as $7/day parking and a $10 shuttle to the cruise port.
  • The Best Western Plus only costs $5/day for parking while you’re on the cruise and has a $12 shuttle to the airport.

If you wish to leave your car at the Port Everglades, there seems to be no reason not to. Other than having to pay the daily fee, there are no downsides to Port Everglades parking either on-site or using a nearby valet service. You have several convenient lots to choose from that have great reputations.

If you fly to Florida, the Fort Lauderdale International Airport will get you close to the Port Everglades. From there, you can choose from a variety of affordable ride services and shuttles. If you decide to fly into the Miami Airport, check into local trains or buses to avoid the cost of a private ride.

Whichever way you get there, be sure to give yourself extra time to check out the artwork featured at the cruise terminals before embarking on your cruise. You should plan to arrive two hours before your scheduled departure time to make sure you don’t miss your boat. Don’t fret about the wait time, the terminals are comfortable with air conditioning, snack machines, and WiFi.
