It's a drill every UAE resident goes through every two years, or maybe three, depending on the type of visa. While most of us remember the month when our residence visa is scheduled to expire, we don't usually remember the date. Then, as the month approaches, it's common to flip through the pages of the passport to check the visa validity.
But we don't always carry our passport with us, do we? So what should we do then? All you need to check your residence visa validity is your passport number and the passport expiry date. So you're good even if you have a photocopy of your passport, or a scanned version saved on your phone.
The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship provides this service through its website. A resident can enter passport information to verify if visa is still valid and can check whether the issued visa is authentic or not. Residents can also cross-check the validity of visa through this official government website.
Here's a step by step guide to track the visa validity using your passport:
- Step 1: Visit this link - https://smartservices.ica.gov.ae/echannels/web/client/default.html#/fileValidity
- Step 2: Select the 'Passport Information' radio button.
- Step 3: Select either 'residency' or 'visa'.
- Step 4: Enter passport number and passport expiry date.
- Step 5: Enter nationality from the dropdown on the right. A corresponding number will appear on the box on the left.
- Step 6: Select the captcha check box and click on search. The page will now display your visa details along with date of expiry.

Step by Step Guide: Checking the Validity of Your Dubai Visa Status Online (with Photos) – UAE Visa Status Check
We are sharing with you a clear outline so you can determine the validity of your UAE visa. Please follow the instructions (with screenshots) below.
Note: First off, kindly make sure that you keep at least a photocopy or a digital copy of your UAE visa and your passport. So you can keep the details with you when you may need to enter them in the application. There are employers who might keep your passport (for safekeeping) but even for your protection, try to keep a copy in your email and your phone. But make sure you also keep your email and phone secure to avoid getting your privacy hacked.
Step 1. Go to this website – http://www.gdrfa.ae/portal/pls/portal/INIMM_DB.DBPK_VISAVALIDITY.Query_VisaValidity . This is an official portal is where you need to enter your details in order to check if your visa is valid and when it will expire.
Step 2. Select the Service you wish to inquire. You can choose between Entry Permit Validity, Residence Validity, eDNRD Application, eForm Application, and Residence Application Status. In my case, I chose the residence validity status. Check the service that applies to you. If you are still applying for a visa, then you need to choose the appropriate service.
Step 3. Enter your Residence File Number. The residence file number can be found in your UAE visa sticker/stamp. Please see a sample photo of how the visa looks like. (Again, always keep a copy of your IDs and documents for your reference).
Below is a copy of a residence visa sticker attached to your passport when you are approved.
Step 4. Enter the your details including your First Name, Gender, Date of Birth, Nationality. Also, verify the security code (to prove you are not a robot).
Step 5. Click Submit. The next page will show the status of your visa and will include other important details such as date of expiry.
We hope you follow the steps above to see if your Dubai visa and residency is still valid or not. The steps make it easier for you to do it yourself as it is done conveniently online rather than having to go to GDRFA office to ask for the information.

How to check your flight status if you are flying in and out of the UAE
Living in uae.
Don't reach airport more than three hours before departure: Dubai Airport advisory
Planning to travel, but don’t know if your flight is on schedule? The easiest way to check is by visiting the website of the airport from where you are travelling. Here is a breakdown of all the flight status updates that you can get for airports in the UAE, whether you are flying in or out of the country.
Dubai Airports
On its official social media accounts, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has been providing updates to passengers on the latest status of operations.
In a message posted on X, formerly Twitter, on April 19, the airport authority said: "We're endeavouring to do our best to support guests impacted by delays due to recent unprecedented weather conditions. However, due to the ongoing disruption, and to speed up recovery, we are temporarily limiting the number of arriving flights from 12PM on April 19 for 48 hours."
In another post, the airport authority posted that passengers should get to the terminal no earlier than three hours before departure time, to not add to the congestion.
How to check flight status for Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC):
• Go to dubaiairports.ae. You will first see a screen with a travel advisory, that has been set up specifically for the current weather conditions, with the latest advice that Dubai Airports has for passengers, regarding their baggage, connecting flights and airport transfers. Check the advisory for the latest updates that you need to plan your travel. Below the advisory, click on the button that reads ‘To visit full website, please click here’. • Once you are on the website, simply locate the tab for ‘Find your flight’ on the menu on top. Here you can either enter your flight number or see the full schedule of flights that are flying in and out of Dubai International Airport as well as Dubai World Central, with the flight status. • For more details, click on the ‘find your flight’ tab and you will be able to select the airport – DXB or DWC, as well as your flights for today or tomorrow, from the ‘departure’ or ‘arrival’ sub-section. This is helpful in case you are travelling in the coming days and want to plan.
