Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin Announce the Kingdom Tour

Kansas City, Mo. (March 11, 2022) – Today, GRAMMY nominated, Billboard Music Award winning, platinum-selling, multi-racial, multi-cultural, and genre-bending collective Maverick City Music and 16-time GRAMMY Award winning artist, songwriter, producer and cultural icon Kirk Franklin have announced the Kingdom Tour featuring special guests Jonathan McReynolds and Housefires. The Kingdom Tour will visit T-Mobile Center on June 28.

The 37-city tour kicks off on June 1 at FTX Arena in Miami, FL making stops across North America in Atlanta, Toronto, Nashville, Los Angeles and more. At the conclusion of the Kingdom Tour, a collaboration album, Kingdom, will follow featuring Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin.

Produced by Live Nation and Undivided , the 37-city tour kicks off on June 1st at FTX Arena in Miami, FL making stops across North America, wrapping up in Denver, CO at Ball Arena on July 31st. The tour comes to Charlotte, NC at the PNC Music Pavilion on Thursday, June 9th, and to Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek in Raleigh, NC on Friday, June 10th. At the conclusion of the Kingdom Tour, a collaboration album, Kingdom , will follow featuring Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin.

Kirk Franklin is a 16-time GRAMMY Award-winning songwriter, arranger, and producer. Kingdom Tour 2024

Kingdom tour 2024 announced : Kirk Franklin, artist, songwriter, producer and cultural icon nominated for the GRAMMYs, winner of the Billboard Music Award, winner of the Maverick City Music and nominated for the GRAMMMYs, announced the "Kingdom Tour" with special guests Jonathan McReynolds and Housefires.

Produced by Live Nation and Undivided, the 37-city tour will begin June 1 at the FTX Arena in Miami, FL, and will stop in North America in Atlanta, Toronto, Nashville, Los Angeles, and more, before ending in Denver, CO, at the Ball Arena on July 31. Named to the Grammy Awards five times, Maverick City Music is composed of a group of members who take turns, including Chandler Moore, Naomi Raine, Dante Bowe, Lizzie Morgan, MJ George, Aaron Moses, Joe L Barnes and Brandon Lake. The band is inspired by soul, gospel, R&B and indie rock.

At the end of the Kingdom Tour, a collaborative album, "Kingdom", will follow with Maverick City Music and Kirk Franklin. Kingdom 2024 tickets (for which prices have not yet been announced) will go on sale at 10 a.m.

Maverick City Music was founded in 2018 as a music collective and a record label. Founders Tony Brown and Jonathan Jay desired to create a space for people “that would otherwise live in their own separate worlds.” Together, the collective aims to spread the gospel. Moreover, Brown and Jay wanted to push boundaries and explore creativity for gospel music, which was otherwise trapped within the margins of traditional church music.

Since 2020, the group has released six live albums and seven EPs. Their 2021 album, Old Church Basement (with Elevation Worship), peaked at number 1 on the Billboard Top Christian Albums chart and Top Gospel Albums chart. Meanwhile, their 2021 EP, Move Your Heart, also peaked at number 1 on the Top Gospel Albums chart. In 2022, Maverick City Music won a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album for Old Church Basement.

Maverick City Music’s co-headliner, Kirk Franklin, has had many accomplishments in the gospel music scene. The “Reigning King of Urban Gospel” has won 23 Dove Awards, 16 Grammy Awards, and one American Music Award. Some of his most notable awards include Traditional Gospel Album of the Year, Urban Album of the Year, Gospel Artist of the Year, and Best Gospel Song/Performance.

Shafter Kingdom Hall under renovation, done completely by volunteer efforts

SHAFTER, Calif. (KERO) — On Thursday, 23ABC was invited for a tour of volunteer efforts to remodel the Shafter Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. The project is slated to be finished around late Summer.

• All volunteers working on the remodel are part of the Jehovah's Witness faith, with some coming from as near as Bakersfield or Wasco, or as far as Florida to help with the project.
• The project's manager Kevin Rosales said the project is broken up into chunks and right now, demolition work is taking place as they work to modernize the hall for visitors in the future.
• Bruce Spencer is overseeing the project's audio and video portion that will take place later on in construction, he noted the ability to work for his faith and for the community that uses the hall is what drives him and other volunteers to work on projects like this.
• Rosales noted they are approximately two weeks into the 18-week project and they hope to be done by late summer

I'm Sam Hoyle, your Shafter Neighborhood reporter, as you can see behind me there's quite a bit of work happening at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses here in Shafter and it's all for a good cause. Approximately 500 volunteers will filter in and out of this job site over the next several months as they work to complete a remodel of this building for the several congregations that worship here.

All of the volunteers working on the remodeling project are part of the [Jehovah's Witness] faith and traveled from as close as Bakersfield and Wasco, or as far as Florida, to help out.

Kevin Rosales, the project manager, volunteering from the Riverside area, said he's been volunteering his time for several years and said he loves to be able to travel to new areas and meet new friends.

"Something I enjoy is going to new areas and making new friends, seeing the project as it develops. It's always an awesome thing to see as it moves forward using just volunteers," said Rosales

The project is broken up into chunks and right now the volunteers are in the demolition phase of the remodel as they look to update the hall.

"Making it more suitable for when people visit. It's an easier atmosphere to be in. It's going to be more modern, so it's going to be more comfortable when people visit and they can enjoy a nice program," said Rosales.

The remodel will benefit approximately 300 Kern County residents who use the Shafter Kingdom's Hall and for these volunteers, the ability to make their space better is what continues to drive them.

"When they ask it's always a little bit of joy because now we get to further improve a building to bring it up to modern standards. So when they – I was approached, obviously I'm happy about it and so I just start setting my schedule up to allow me time to come help on this project," said Bruce Spencer, the project's audio and video overseer.

Talking with the project manager they said they hope to have this remodel done and ready for people to enjoy by the end of this summer.

Golf-Clutch Pro Tour to be included in World Rankings

(Reuters) – The Clutch Pro Tour will be included in the world ranking system, Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) said on Thursday.

The Tour was created in 2019 for lower level professionals, especially in the United Kingdom, and now acts as a feeder to the Challenge and DP World Tours. Its tournaments are played over 54 holes with a 36-hole cut.

The announcement followed a 17-month long application process, and the Clutch Pro Tour Tier One tournaments will become an OWGR Eligible Golf Tour from this week.

“This is a significant milestone for golf, and OWGR is deeply encouraged by the achievement and the continued efforts in developing the sport of golf in the United Kingdom,” OWGR Chairman Peter Dawson said in a statement.

The opening event in the Clutch Pro Tour season begins on April 30 at Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire.

LIV Golf, the Saudi-backed circuit that launched in 2022 and has divided the sport, had its application to be included in the world ranking system unanimously rejected by the OWGR in October.

LIV sent a letter to its members in March informing them that the organisation had formally withdrawn its application to be included in the rankings system.

Sammy Hagar Recalls ‘Brutal’ Van Halen Tour with Broken Tailbone

Sammy Hagar recalled the “brutal” injury he sustained on the opening night of a Van Halen tour, leading to weeks of agony because the shows had to go on.

At the first of 28 performances under the Monsters of Rock banner in 1988 – with Metallica , Scorpions , Dokken and Kingdom Come along for the ride – Hagar suffered an accident on stage because he wasn’t familiar with the brand-new set the band were using.

“We had to have three sets to set up in different cities, because it took three days to set up,” Hagar explained in the video below. “It had these metal stairs… and I hadn’t performed on them.”

He remembered the incident took place during “the first song, ‘Summer Nights’” – although that was actually the second song on the set list, with “There’s Only One Way to Rock” preceding it.

“I’m singing the first chorus, I’m stepping backwards; I stumble onto the stairs, and hit my tailbone right on the corner of one of the metal [edges],” he said.

“And it actually cut through my leather pants. And I was numb; I fell down on the stairs and I got back up and I kept singing, but I felt really weird. I reached back… bloody hand. I go, ‘Oh, my God!’ I felt the bump back there as big as an orange.

“ Eddie was playing a long intro, and I ran over to my side of the stage, and I said to my guy, ‘What’s going on?’ He’s like, ‘Dude, you don’t wanna know!’ … I can’t see it [but] I’m gonna faint.

“I make it through the show, get to the hospital – I had a fractured tailbone, vertebrae completely knocked out of whack. I had to have stitches across it, actually. It was brutal.”

Sammy Hagar’s Injury Meant He Got to Meet Sting

The torment was far from over. Describing it as “the worst injury I’ve ever had,” Hagar felt the pressure of the tour dates still to come. That pressure was made worse by his need to fly home to visit his doctor regularly – although it did offer one bright moment: “That’s how I met Sting – he was at my doctor’s office too!”

He continued: “It was horrendous until the last show… In Denver, Colorado, I couldn’t hit the high note in ‘Eagles Fly’ because I got a sinus infection [and] an ear infection from flying; I got run down; I was on antibiotics. Every day I had to have a doctor show up in my room and give me a steroid shot in the spot so I could stand up straight.”

He concluded: “It was brutal. Horrible. You don’t want that to ever happen to you!”

From the very first days of its existence, the Moscow Metro was the object of civil defense, used as a bomb shelter, and designed as a defense for a possible attack on the Soviet Union.

At a depth of 50 to 120 meters lies the second, the coded system of Metro-2 of Moscow subway, which is equipped with everything you need, from food storage to the nuclear button.

The tools: Bridgestone Tour B X Mindset golf ball

The test:  To determine if Bridgestone’s Mindset visual technology can improve your pre-shot routine.

The results:  About two years ago, I stopped relying on a visual aid that had been a part of my golf game for more than a decade. The putter had gone cold, and I was spending an inordinate amount of time lining up the side stamp to the target, which led me to do something Scottie Scheffler did recently: remove the line and shake up the pre-shot routine.

“I like not having to line the ball up,” Scheffler said of his Titleist Pro V1 after his win at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. “I line this putter up well in the middle of the face. It’s very good visually. And yeah, I try not to focus too much on the results, but my process was really good this week and the results so far are pretty tough to argue with, I would say.”

Scheffler started focusing on the single black alignment line on the putter crown and allowed himself to rely more on his eyes and feel to visualize the path to the hole. As the great Ty Webb once said, “Be the ball.”

Simplifying the process not only worked for Scheffler, but this gear scribe as well. Relying on a single sight dot and removing the sight line — I have the blank space on the ball facing me at address — brought the feel and confidence back within a few practice sessions. This was a massive win in my book.

There was no reason to mess with a good thing, but my interest was piqued when Bridgestone sent me a dozen Tour B X’s with their new Mindset visual technology, the multi-colored design developed by Bridgestone, major winner Jason Day and Day’s long-time mental performance coach, Jason Goldsmith.

Since he was 12 years old, Day has employed a multi-step visualization process that came about through work with Goldsmith. It was through their work that Mindset was conceived.

The visual technology on the side of the ball is designed around three different circles that act like a stop light: Red helps the golfer stop and identify what needs to be calculated — things like distance and wind. From there, the yellow circle is designed to help the golfer prepare for the shot by visualizing what needs to be accomplished. Once the golfer is fully engaged, the green circle gives them the permission to fully commit to the pre-shot work and execute.

Even though I have simplified my process on the greens, I tried my best to be mindful (no pun intended) of the pre-shot process and focus on the colors before tee shots and putts. It wasn’t all that easy at first. As someone who plays fast and tries to keep the brain free of additional thoughts on the course, making sure the visual technology was visible on the tee and putting green took some getting used to.

Taking an extra beat to consider the variables and visualize the shot is something more golfers should do before they pull the trigger, but we’re so focused on avoiding a pesky fairway bunker or the lake running down the left side of the hole that we tend to forget how even a simple pre-shot routine can help us block out the noise.

As I started logging more rounds with Mindset, I began to notice how much I enjoyed leaning into visual tech. I tend to get frustrated after a poor shot and let the bad vibes linger, but I found myself becoming more resilient after a poor shot and focusing on the one at hand.

In my estimation, I removed roughly 1.5 “poor shots” — one that required a punchout or drop from the hazard line — during each round, which ended up improving my score anywhere from 1 to 3 shots depending on how I was hitting it that day.

While it’s still early days, I believe Bridgestone’s visual technology can make you a more resilient golfer, provided you stick to the pre-shot process and don’t consider it a quick fix.

Conclusion: I’m not going to sit here and proclaim Mindset will make you a worldbeater overnight. What it can do is give you a valuable pre-shot process that can help you cut down on silly mistakes. It adds purpose to each shot and forces you to live in the moment instead of continually focusing on the last three-putt or the long par-3 ahead that always eats your lunch.

If you’re a golfer who doesn’t have a pre-shot routine or gets easily frustrated, consider giving Mindset a shot. And if you’re like me and have a simplied approach on the greens, don’t sweat staring at the visual tech. Never once did I feel like I had to rely on design to help me line up the ball, so rest easy knowing you won’t become robotic with your approach.

Touring the Top 10 Moscow Metro Stations

Komsomolskaya metro station looks like a museum. It has vaulted ceilings and baroque decor.

Hidden underground, in the heart of Moscow, are historical and architectural treasures of Russia. These are Soviet-era creations – the metro stations of Moscow.

Our guide Maria introduced these elaborate metro stations as “the palaces for the people.” Built between 1937 and 1955, each station holds its own history and stories. Stalin had the idea of building beautiful underground spaces that the masses could enjoy. They would look like museums, art centers, concert halls, palaces and churches. Each would have a different theme. None would be alike.

The two-hour private tour was with a former Intourist tour guide named Maria. Maria lived in Moscow all her life and through the communist era of 60s to 90s. She has been a tour guide for more than 30 years. Being in her 60s, she moved rather quickly for her age. We traveled and crammed with Maria and other Muscovites on the metro to visit 10 different metro stations.

Moscow subways are very clean

To Maria, every street, metro and building told a story. I couldn’t keep up with her stories. I don’t remember most of what she said because I was just thrilled being in Moscow.   Added to that, she spilled out so many Russian words and names, which to one who can’t read Cyrillic, sounded so foreign and could be easily forgotten.

The metro tour was the first part of our all day tour of Moscow with Maria. Here are the stations we visited:

1. Komsomolskaya Metro Station  is the most beautiful of them all. Painted yellow and decorated with chandeliers, gold leaves and semi precious stones, the station looks like a stately museum. And possibly decorated like a palace. I saw Komsomolskaya first, before the rest of the stations upon arrival in Moscow by train from St. Petersburg.

2. Revolution Square Metro Station (Ploshchad Revolyutsii) has marble arches and 72 bronze sculptures designed by Alexey Dushkin. The marble arches are flanked by the bronze sculptures. If you look closely you will see passersby touching the bronze dog's nose. Legend has it that good luck comes to those who touch the dog's nose.

3. Arbatskaya Metro Station served as a shelter during the Soviet-era. It is one of the largest and the deepest metro stations in Moscow.

4. Biblioteka Imeni Lenina Metro Station was built in 1935 and named after the Russian State Library. It is located near the library and has a big mosaic portrait of Lenin and yellow ceramic tiles on the track walls.

5. Kievskaya Metro Station was one of the first to be completed in Moscow. Named after the capital city of Ukraine by Kiev-born, Nikita Khruschev, Stalin's successor.

6. Novoslobodskaya Metro Station  was built in 1952. It has 32 stained glass murals with brass borders.

7. Kurskaya Metro Station was one of the first few to be built in Moscow in 1938. It has ceiling panels and artwork showing Soviet leadership, Soviet lifestyle and political power. It has a dome with patriotic slogans decorated with red stars representing the Soviet's World War II Hall of Fame. Kurskaya Metro Station is a must-visit station in Moscow.

8. Mayakovskaya Metro Station built in 1938. It was named after Russian poet Vladmir Mayakovsky. This is one of the most beautiful metro stations in the world with 34 mosaics painted by Alexander Deyneka.

9. Belorusskaya Metro Station is named after the people of Belarus. In the picture below, there are statues of 3 members of the Partisan Resistance in Belarus during World War II. The statues were sculpted by Sergei Orlov, S. Rabinovich and I. Slonim.

10. Teatralnaya Metro Station (Theatre Metro Station) is located near the Bolshoi Theatre.

An excellent read! Thanks for much for sharing the Russian metro system with us. We're heading to Moscow in April and exploring the metro stations were on our list and after reading your post, I'm even more excited to go visit them. Thanks again 🙂
