SEE MORE THAN YOU THINK POSSIBLE ONBOARD 3 NIGHT NILE CRUISES

4 day 3 night cruise

You might think that 3 night Nile cruises do not allow enough time to see the sights and attractions you had hoped to experience during a visit to Egypt. However, the luxuriousness and comprehensiveness of 3 night Nile cruises is likely to surprise you.

With itineraries that include land excursions and days of sailing through truly magical scenery, they are a wonderful choice for a holiday of almost any length.

WHAT TO EXPECT WITH 3 NIGHT NILE CRUISES

Typically, the very best 3 night Nile cruises are designed as premium, all-inclusive experiences. That means your booking is going to include a wonderful accommodation, delicious meals and drinks, and land excursions done with comfortable and high-quality ground transportation, expert guides and more.

In fact, the land excursions during 3 night Nile cruises may be your reason for booking in the first place. Typically done by Egyptologists, expert archaeologists or historians, they ensure you get a detailed tour and lots of interesting and relevant details about the sites.

It is not just the basics, and you might learn about art and architecture, different dynasties and how to determine if a monument or sculpture is from a specific period, and so much more.

3 night nile cruise

The options for 3 night Nile cruises also vary in terms of the types of ships you might choose for your journey. There are the modern and elegant cruisers with four or five decks, including an open deck at the top, but you can also opt for a small and classic dahabiya. This iconic wooden vessel is powered by wind and features enormous, elegant sails along with upper decks commonly used for lounging and dining.

COMMON ITINERARIES ABOARD 3 NIGHT NILE CRUISES

4 day 3 night cruise

Luxor temple, constructed over hundreds of years by Amenhotep III, Ramses II, Tutankhamun, and other pharaohs

The Nile is a unique river for many reasons. One of the largest in the world, stretching more than four thousand miles, it also runs from south to north. It enters Egypt at its southern border, via Lake Nasser and the High Aswan Dam. It then continues winding its way through the central area of the country, exiting at its delta and into the Mediterranean, east of modern Alexandria. Used for centuries by Egyptians in order to farm and travel, its banks are dotted with sites that create unbreakable links to the land’s ancient inhabitants.

Floating with the current, many 3 night Nile cruises depart from the southern city of Aswan, they head towards their final destination at Luxor. The sites visited will vary from ship to ship, but the must-see destinations include:

  • Aswan – Travelers might arrive in the city after completing a Lake Nasser cruise or a land excursion elsewhere. Boarding the ship, they begin their adventures, often with time spent in Aswan exploring such sites as the Aswan High Dam, the amazing Unfinished Obelisk (dating to Queen Hatshepsut and left in the quarry since it cracked during removal), and the stunning Temple of Philae (spared from the waters of the Nile, and easily one of the most impressive structures of its kind).
  • Kom Ombo – Almost all 3 night Nile cruises ensure their travelers time at this impressive and entirely unique site. A double temple, it features two of everything, including courts, temples and halls. One side was dedicated to Sobek the crocodile god and the other to Horus the Elder. An ancient site that was famous for its native crocodiles, it is also where some unique reliefs depicting medical tools and techniques can be viewed.
  • Edfu – Ranking as one of the most well-preserved temples of the ancient world, it sat hidden in the sands for more than two thousand years. It is large and impressive, with a massive pylon covered with beautiful reliefs dedicated to the god Horus. It has an intact roof, too, which is considered remarkable for such an ancient structure.
  • Luxor – Arriving at this ancient city does not signify the end of 3 night Nile cruises. Instead, travelers enjoy a night floating along the banks of the city as well as tours of both the East and West Banks. The eastern bank is the home of the unforgettable temple complexes of Luxor and Karnak. The city was once a great capital for the rulers of the 11th through 20th dynasties. Known also as Waset and Thebes, it sits at the top of most travelers’ lists of must-see locations.

Those on 3 night Nile cruises will enjoy a tour of the two large temples, and then a day in the West Bank. It is here that you find such world-famous sites as the rock-cut temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon, and the Valley of the Kings. The latter is home to more than 60 tombs, many of which are the final resting places for pharaohs of different periods. The most famous of them all being that of King Tutankhamun, and it is an essential sight on most 3 night Nile cruises.

After departure at Luxor, travelers on 3 night Nile cruises can enjoy any number of possible adventures. Perhaps you wish to head west and see the desert and its amazing oases? Maybe a land tour northward to sites like Abydos or Tel El Amarna is on your agenda? Perhaps you hope to find ways to cruise farther northward to Cairo? You can and should think of the different 3 night Nile cruises as an ideal way to experience some of the most relevant and fascinating remnants of the Ancient Egyptian. As part of a longer or broader exploration into the history and sites relating to pharaonic Egypt, 3 night Nile cruises are a great resource.

Don’t forget to consider some time on the waters  before  your Nile cruise. After all, beginning at Aswan means you might do a Lake Nasser cruise before setting sail down the Nile. This would let you see the famed Abu Simbel and many of the stunning, preserved sites from Nubian Egypt, too. The options are endless and all of Egypt awaits your visit and your amazing journey through the past.

DAY 1: EMBARK IN ASWAN | MAJESTIC PHILAE

Arrive Aswan Airport , Where you are met by your Journey to Egypt Tour Guide ( At EXIT DOOR , holding a sign with your name) and begin your day of exploring by visiting the majestic Temple of Philae . Ride a motorized boat to the island of Agilika . This sacred complex was dedicated to the goddess Isis and reflects a fusion of three great civilizations — Egyptian, Greek and Roman. The temple was dismantled and then painstakingly reassembled when the Aswan High Dam was constructed. Proceed to the granite quarries and site of the Unfinished Obelisk . Illustrating the skills of Egypt’s stonemasons, this monolith is one-third taller than any other ancient Egyptian obelisk. Then, Board your Nile cruise boat.   Enjoy lunch. Later, Ride Like a Local around the Aswan Islands in a felucca , while enjoying a refreshing Scenic Sundowner.

Meals: Lunch, Dinner

DAY 2: OPTIONAL ABU SIMBEL | CRUISING THE NILE

Discover Abu Simbel , the commanding twin temples of Ramses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari. The former’s façade is dominated by four 70-foot-tall statues of the pharaoh. Perhaps even more impressive, this entire site was disassembled and moved here to save it from the floodwaters caused by the Aswan High Dam.

Cruise to Kom Ombo . Disembark at Kom Ombo (hill of gold) to visit the Greco- Roman temple dedicated to Haroeris (the sun god) and Sobek (the crocodile god), whom some ancient Egyptians considered the creator of the world. View the mummified remains of several crocodiles that once basked along the ancient Nile shore, just as their descendants do today. Back on board,  Cruise to Edfu .

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 3: TEMPLE OF HORUS | CRUISING THE NILE

Today, view the Temple of Horus , falcon-headed god of the sky. Built in 230 BC by Ptolemy III, this amazingly well-preserved and colorful structure reveals what temple worship in ancient Egypt was like. Back on board,  Cruise to Luxor .

Arrive in Luxor , journey to the east bank of the Nile , the Temple of Karnak , where generations of pharaohs wished to record their names. Walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall, strolling among its expertly aligned columns, which soar to 80 feet high. Continue to the striking Temple of Luxor . View the three large statues of Ramses II along the front of the temple pylons; the Courtyard of Ramses II; and the Colonnade of Amenhotep III, with its 50-foot-high columns. Walk in their shadows as visitors have done since antiquity and ponder the astonishing feats of engineering it took to create them.

DAY 4: DISEMBARK IN LUXOR | VALLEY OF THE KINGS

This morning, explore the west bank of the Nile River and the Necropolis of Thebes, and view the Colossi of Memnon . Next, arrive at the architecturally stunning Temple of Hatshepsut , ancient Egypt’s first female pharaoh and regarded today as one of its most successful. Continue to the Valley of the Kings , burial ground of the pharaohs and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For a period of 500 years beginning in the 16th century BC, tombs were built along this valley for pharaohs and nobles, including that of “the boy king,” Tutankhamun. Enter the tomb of Tutankhamun ( Extra ticket On Spot ) - found in 1922 by British archaeologist and Egyptologist Howard Carter- to discover the secrets of this storied chamber.

Transfer to the Luxor airport.

Victor was extremely knowledgeable about not just Egyptian history but he drew parallels with other great civilisations of the Bronze Age. He explained patiently every aspect of history and construction of the monuments. He addressed all our questions with enthusiasm. Victor has single handedly ensured that we will continue to visit Egypt in the future to assimilate the great past of the ancient civilisation. Lunch was included and we had an awesome meal at Moon Vally (yes that’s how it’s spelled). Victor kept us from being hassled by the vendors and advised us on how much things should cost. We also did the optional stop at a family owned alabaster factory and it was well worth it. We didn’t feel pressured to buy anything, and it seemed to be a legitimate operation. Every place we visited was awesome and Victor was extremely knowledgeable about all of it and also taught us plenty about modern day Egypt. Victor will be our go-to guide for future visits to Egypt! nile cruise 3 nights

We managed to pack in a lot of sites on our trip, and it was exhausting but worth it to see all the sites we did. The ship was amazing. All the communal areas were beautiful, and each room I believe once in motion has a great view of the nile. The pool and bar area were good, and there was always space to sit down. Sayed was very attentive of our needs during the trip, he kept in contact everyday to see how we were getting along and made necessary changes during the trip, for example when we had a guide we could not really understand. On his own, I would give Sayed 5 stars. He tired his best with our trip!

nile cruise 3 nights

Many thanks for great information!

nile cruise 3 nights

Based on the review here, we booked on the Sonesta Moon Goddess March, 2023. We were disappointed. The rooms were indeed classic and comfortable. The carpets in the hall were old and stained. The HVAC systems in the room did not work properly despite engineering’s best efforts. Hot water was often hard to come by. The most disappointing element was the food. This was served buffet style, and almost never maintained hot. It was as if I had returned to my high school cafeteria. The staff were attentive and tried to please.

The review above does not reflect on the current state of affairs.

3 Nights Nile Cruise Itinerary:

Day 1 – sightseeing in aswan.

3 Night Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor

On the first day of your 3 Night Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor trip, Upon arrival at Aswan Airport, you will be transferred to your luxury cruise ship for a 3-day Nile river cruise . After checking in, you will start a day tour, starting with a boat trip to Philae Temple , which was built in honor of the goddess Isis . Goddess of motherhood and healing. Across the gigantic walls of the Temple of Philae is the epic story of the wife of the underworld ruler, Osiris, and her son, Horus.

Unfinished Obelisk : The unfinished golden obelisk of Hatshepsut, which would have been 42 meters high, is the coolest thing that has ever happened. After this visit, you will go to the High Dam , an engineering marvel that serves as a Nile River dam built in the 1960s to protect Egypt from the annual floods and produce electricity. You will be taken back to the cruise ship for lunch, where you can also enjoy cruise activities and dinner in the evening.

Day 2: Abu Simbel Kom Ombo and Edfu

Aswan Luxor cruise 3 nights

On the second day of the 3 Night Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor , You will enjoy a guided tour of Abu Simbel Temple early in the morning. Discover Abu Simbel, the commanding twin temples of Ramses II and his wife, Queen Nefertari. Four 70-foot-tall statues of the pharaoh dominate the former’s façade. Perhaps even more impressive, this entire site was disassembled and moved here to save it from the floodwaters caused by the Aswan High Dam.

After returning from Abu Simbel, the ship will sail to Kom Ombo and Edfu . In Kom Ombo, you will visit the Temple of Kom Ombo, which is dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. The Greco- Roman temple was dedicated to Haroeris (the sun god) and Sobek (the crocodile god), whom some ancient Egyptians considered the world’s creator. View the mummified remains of several crocodiles that once basked along the old Nile shore

After this visit, you will sail toward Edfu. You will be taken to see the Temple of Horus, dedicated to Horus, the falcon-headed god. This relatively young pharaonic temple is well-preserved and, therefore, imposing. In the evening Egyptian Folkloric Show party will be operated by staff on board.

Day 3: Luxor (West and East Bank)

Luxor to Aswan cruise 3 nights

On the Third day of the 3 Night Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor , Start your day tour on the West Bank of Luxor. First, you will be taken to Thebes Necropolis, Valley of the Kings on the West Bank of Luxor. A must-see for travelers in Luxor, this ancient cemetery consists of tombs found in Mount Thebes. Here you visit 3 tombs of different dynasties.

Continue to the Valley of the Kings, the burial ground of the pharaohs, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. For 500 years, starting in the 16th century BC, tombs were built along this valley for pharaohs and nobles, including the “boy king” Tutankhamun.

After visiting the tombs, you will be taken to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut . This temple is considered one of the most beautiful examples of architecture in ancient Egypt because it was carved into the mountain. After that, you will see the Colossi of Memnon , Egypt’s two most giant ancient statues.

To conclude your Nile cruise, visit the Karnak temple  on the east bank of Luxor. Karnak outshines all other pharaonic monuments: it is simply one of the most beautiful monuments in Egypt . the most beautiful Karnak temple complex is considered the most prominent building complex in the world, covering an area of one hundred.

It was built by one of the kings of the Twelfth Dynasty and completed by the well-known King Ramses II.

When to take a Nile cruise trip?

The peak season is from November to February when temperatures are often lower than in the prior shoulder season (June to August), typically higher. It’s best to go in the morning when it’s cooler and spend the rest of the day doing things ashore, like shopping and seeing the felucca. There will be more time for fun activities.

10 valuable tips for Nile Cruise:

  • Firstly, after checking in for a cruise, it is advised to leave valuables in the safety deposit box of your rooms, as all cabins have a private safe!
  • If you want to buy any items from the shops on board, the opportunity to shop in general is limited due to the small size of these shops. But on the other hand, you will have plenty of time to check what you are buying and bargain the price!
  • Most cruise boats provide telephone facilities on board, but the sound quality is not as good as on land.
  • We recommend visiting a bank to change your money before sailing, as most boats do not offer to exchange money, and you won’t have access to land banks while sailing.
  • To make the right decisions about your Nile cruise, you should figure out your exact budget, how much money you want to spend, and how many days you want to take off.
  • Pick the right Nile River Cruise that will better suit you, like a deluxe Nile cruise or standard Nile cruise , a luxury Nile cruise , and an Ultra Luxury Nile cruise .
  • The tour guide is one of the essential parts of a Nile River Cruise. Between Luxor and Aswan , the tour guide will tell you about ancient Egypt’s amazing things.
  • Make sure the Nile River Cruise you choose has all the amenities you want and need.
  • The best time to go on a Nile cruise is in winter, fall, or spring when the temperature is around 21 C, and the weather is delightful.
  • The best time for a Nile River cruise is between 3 and 7 days so that each traveler can see most of Luxor and Aswan’s Attractions .
