A Storyteller’s Dream Come True: Touring PIXAR Studios

Cars 3 ~ Disney Pixar ABC disclosure

If you ask me to describe myself in one word, it would be challenging, and even though I’d be a little heartbroken for the other words I’d leave behind, I know I’d have to choose “storyteller.”

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

And as a storyteller, THE dream is to be at the place where everything starts with a story, where everything begins and ends with a story: touring Pixar Studios in Emeryville, California.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

My #Cars3Event adventure started by going through the Pixar Animation gates and into the campus. We screened most of the upcoming movie Cars 3 at the Pixar Campus theater.

The theater was spectacular and later on we learned the rules about the starscape:

“There are two strings with stars that you noticed and the first one goes ‘ooohhh’ and the second one goes ‘ahhhh.’ Next time you go, make sure you do the ‘ooooh’ and the ‘aaaaah’ with the shooting stars,” our personal tour guide suggested. That’s a Toy Story reference!

As a Cars fan, I was delighted with the story and I know you will enjoy it when it comes out in theaters on June 16.

Blindsided by a new generation of blazing-fast racers, the legendary Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson) is suddenly pushed out of the sport he loves. To get back in the game, he will need the help of an eager young race technician, Cruz Ramirez (Cristela Alonzo), with her own plan to win, plus inspiration from the late Fabulous Hudson Hornet and a few unexpected turns. Proving that #95 isn’t through yet will test the heart of a champion on Piston Cup Racing’s biggest stage!

Of course, these tours are not open to the public, so it was an honor for me to be in this space, sharing these magical experiences with 24 other top Disney influencers that were selected to attend the event.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

Pixar Animation launched in 1995 with Toy Story and has produced beloved films like Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, Finding Dory, Brave, A Bug’s Life, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, and two of my most favorite: UP and Inside Out.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

The Pixar campus is a place of wonder. You can find magic everywhere and start to realize that everything has a story and there are Pixar characters everywhere!

The Pixar campus is laid out like a human brain: the creative side and technical side here are united by a main area that was designed for people to intentionally mingle and collaborate.

ALL restrooms, the Pixar cafe and kitchen, the mailroom, and the Pixar store are all located in the main area, to facilitate conversations that “lead to success.”

This main area was renamed “the Steve Jobs building” about a year after his passing, so as a huge Steve Jobs fan myself, stepping into this area was one of the highlights of the tour (and the entire trip, if I’m honest).

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

In the Steve Jobs building we can also find the Awards Cabinet – a reminder of the greatness that everyone helps create. Emmy Awards, People’s Choice Awards, Academy Awards… and a Woody doll.

“When you get really close to it, you can see he’s really beat up layers are molting off of him, he’s missing a boot, his paint is coming off… He belonged to a little boy named Caleb. This was his security, so when they went to Walt Disney World, it was falling apart and she decided to him a new one, but then thought: ‘What do you do with the old one?’ You don’t want to just chuck it in the garbage. That was his friend! They took him to the help desk at Walt Disney World and they asked if it could be returned to Pixar so that it could live with Buzz Lightyear for eternity and beyond!”

A huge “awwwww” and some tears (mostly mine) followed this story. They keep this doll as a symbol for what is created at Pixar.

“We’re not just creating a couple of hours of entertainment, and then it’s over with.”

Woody comes with a letter that reads:

“On June 18, 2010 we had a young child about 6-year-old by the name of Caleb come into City Hall at Magic Kingdom Park. He brought us his well played with Woody doll. You see, his parents bought him a new one and he wanted his first one to have a great new home and to spend infinity and beyond with Buzz Lightyear. We felt it was appropriate to share him with you.”

The characters and storylines created at Pixar Animation Studios live on.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

“They become your children’s best friend or your own best friend, as well.”

When Woody is not on display at the Steve Jobs building, he’s on tour with John Lasseter, and we heard that “when he talks about this story he will cry – every time!”

This is WHY I love Pixar. As a storyteller, I know that stories create connection and transformation. A story can heal, uplift, teach, and inspire emotions. The stories you hear become a part of you, a part of your legacy, and what makes you immortal.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

Besides the Steve Jobs building, I had the opportunity to go into the Brooklyn Building. The office buildings are named after New York neighborhoods and have lots of glass windows to let the outside in.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

The beautiful campus has rosebushes all around because Steve Jobs wanted people to be able to pick fresh roses (or is it “cut”) to adorn their desks.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

I was surprised to learn that the Pixar campus spans 16 acres and was mostly built from the ground up. It previously housed the Oaks Baseball field, and later the Del Monte Fruit Company.

It proves to be an inspiring workplace, where employees enjoy a heated outdoor pool, volleyball and basketball courts, gyms, beautiful gardens, relaxation areas (even hammocks!), and other amenities to create an atmosphere where genius sparks.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

And you can imagine how excited I was to actually see the famous Pixar lamp which is also the Pixar Logo, as well as the Pixar ball! I wasn’t surprised to hear that these are the most photographed items when people come to Pixar, but what really shocked me is that the Pixar Lamp and Ball are actually not original to the Pixar Animation Campus and they didn’t even commission it.

Pixar Studios has an exhibition that goes around the world that is opening up in Seoul right now and when it was in Australia, that museum had the Pixar Lamp and Ball built in front of it, and when the exhibition moved on, they gifted it to Pixar. The Pixar Lamp and Ball were sent to the Pixar campus on a barge.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

The iconic lamp does light up when it gets dark! I thought that was fascinating! The ball gets so much picture action that it has to get repainted often, so it will be out of the Pixar Campus for about 8 weeks when it happens.

Whether you are a story lover, a storyteller, or both, you can appreciate what a privilege it is to be where stories are made. That’s why I wanted to take you along our journey and share these amazing experience with you.

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

What we can learn as moms from the Pixar Headquarters is how to teach our children through story and allow their creativity to be nurtured: teaching the way they learn (left brain / right brain), going outdoors, facilitating conversation, creating an environment of collaboration, and allowing lots of play!

Do you have questions about the Pixar Animation Studios campus? I’d love to know what you’re curious about.

I’ll be sharing more about my Pixar visit soon and a sneak peek at  CARS 3,  but in the meantime, be sure to Like and Follow  CARS on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can also visit the official CARS 3 website and follow the hashtag #Cars3Event!  CARS 3 opens in theaters everywhere on June 16th – and you don’t want to miss it!

Take a Photo Pixar Studios Tour!

By: Author tanialamb

Posted on Published: May 1, 2019

Come on a Pixar Studios Tour and take a look inside with me! I visited Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA in April 2019 for a Toy Story 4 Press Event, and it was everything I hoped it would be. Between the people, the art, and the photo ops, the air inside Pixar Animation Studios oozed creativity. So who can take a Pixar Studios tour? I’ll tell you and camera dump all my Pixar Animation Studios photos.

Thank you, Disney, for inviting me to Pixar Studios for the Toy Story 4 Press Day. All opinions about my intense fandom of Rainbow Unicorn are my own.

Take a Tour of Pixar Studios

Can You Take a Pixar Studios Tour?

Welcome to Pixar Animation Studios. Can the general public take a tour of Pixar Studios? Not really. There are no paid tickets, but if you know a Pixar employee, you’re golden. They also do media tours for press, and I have heard of them auctioning visits for charity.

If you don’t fit any of those categories right now, then come on a tour inside the Pixar campus with me, and I’ll show you around. And keep dreaming, because if you would have told me this would be me 10 years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you.

Pixar Animation Studios Photos

At the gates, you’ll need to hand over your ID, because Pixar security don’t play. Then as you walk on the sidewalk towards the Steve Jobs Building, you’ll find the money shots – Luxo Jr.(Pixar Lamp), and the Luxo Ball (Pixar Ball).

Pixar Studios Tour Luxo Ball and Luxo Jr. Lamp

Yes, I was that excited. Then in front of that some yards away is the Brooklyn Building and to the right is the Steve Job Building. Let the photos begin.

Steve Jobs Building at Pixar Studios

When I entered the Steve Jobs Building, I felt like a kid at Disney World. Everywhere I looked it felt like memories or family connections. Right away I noticed the LEGO Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story. It’s as if Pixar was saying,”You’ve got a friend in me.”

LEGO Buzz Lightyear and Woody at Pixar Animation Studios

Then the corner of my eye caught my FAVORITE – Rainbow Unicorn from Inside Out! I fangirled her with the movie quote, “I loved you in Fairy Dream Adventure Part 7! Ok, bye! I love you!” She didn’t even blink an eye, but I don’t care.

Rainbow Unicorn from Inside Out Pixar Studios

The art on the walls change with (I assume) each movie coming up that Pixar is promoting. When my friends visited the year before for Incredibles 2, they had Incredibles pictures up.

Tour of Pixar Animation Studios

Speaking of The Incredibles…I mean I couldn’t help myself.

The Incredibles at Pixar Animation Studios

If Elastigirl can fight crime in heels, so can I.

To the right of the entrance, there was more Toy Story 4 art, awards, seating, and a ping pong table. You know, the usual office building decor.

Pixar Studios Ping Pong Table

In front you get an open view which is full of light. To the left is the employee dining area and to the right is more tables and the Pixar gift shop where I spent way too much money.

Pixar Studios Tour Steve Jobs Building

The food is amazing, and the employees are delightful and super nice. I wandered around confused for a second, and three people came to help me. Even the kind barista made me hot chocolate and delivered it to me upstairs when I had to leave. And that hot chocolate was delicious.

Giant Bo Peep from Toy Story 4 at Pixar Studios

I was loving this giant picture of Bo Peep, because she is one tough cookie in Toy Story 4. I can’t wait to go into more detail about her character in a future post. She deserves one.

The Brooklyn Building at Pixar

Another fun place to get your Pixar fill is the Brooklyn building. I say fun, because fun for me and visitors. I’m sure it’s fun for the employees, too, but I also understand this is where they work every day.  And after having learned everything that goes into making a Pixar movie, the 1,000+ employees work hard!

I got giddy when I saw Heimlich’s Chew Chew Train ride vehicle in front of the Brooklyn building. It’s no longer in Disney California Adventure Theme Park. He’s eating candy corn for crying out loud. We’re soul mates.

Heimlich Chew Chew Train Ride Vehicle Pixar Studios

Another sight that made me happy was Miguel and Dante from my favorite Pixar movie – Coco ! Can you see Hector peeking out from around the corner?

Miguel and Dante from Pixar's Coco at Pixar Animation Studios

Pixar is all about making me cry, because then they have Bing Bong at the door! I sure miss him.

Bing Bong from Inside Out at Pixar Studios

Those were all the pictures we were allowed to take, but they certainly filled up my Pixar-loving heart. I don’t see how you could walk by them every day without smiling.

Toy Story 4 Art

After screening several scenes of Toy Story 4 (I know!!!!), we had a small reception afterwards upstairs in the Steve Jobs building. We weren’t allowed to take pictures, but I want to show you some of the amazing Toy Story 4 art that was hung in the hallways. Some are sketches and drawings of the characters in Toy Story 4. These photos were taken by Deborah Coleman/Pixar.

Toy Story 4 art Pixar Studios Steve Jobs Building

Meet Forky from Toy Story 4

Forky is one of the newest characters added to the Toy Story family in Toy Story 4. He’s voiced by Tony Hale (who I love in Arrested Development), and yes, he’s a spork.

Why a spork? Well they needed something for Bonnie that wasn’t quite a new toy, but something she could play with. You know how kids are when they get their hands on crafts and want to create – well that’s how Forky was born! Bonnie created him when she needed a friend as she’s starting Kindergarten.

We all got a chance to create our own Forky and the sky was the limit. I challenged Kurt from Inside the Magic , to a Forky competition and we had a lot of fun! I went more classic, and Kurt went more Pirate.

Forky Crafts Toy Story 4

Forky is unsure of himself and considers himself trash, but Bonnie adores him and wants to take him everywhere. I have a feeling he’ll quickly become one of the most endeared characters in Toy Story 4!

Make your own Forky from Toy Story 4.

I had an incredible time during my Pixar Studios tour and I hope you enjoyed coming along with me!

Now it’s time to say goodnight with the Luxo, Jr. as he turns on his light.

Toy Story 4 is in theaters June 21, 2019!

pixar animation studios emeryville tour

Introduction:

Pixar Animation Studios, located in Emeryville, California, is the creative force behind unforgettable animated films such as Toy Story, The Incredibles, and Up. For movie enthusiasts and animation fans, getting a tour of this imaginative place would be a dream come true. While visits to Pixar Studios are not open to the general public, there are a few ways you might be able to get a glimpse inside. In this article, we’ll explore three avenues to secure a coveted tour of Pixar Studios.

1. Leverage Professional Connections:

One way to secure an exclusive tour is through industry connections or colleagues. This requires you to either work in the animation industry yourself or know someone who does. If you have any contacts within Pixar or its parent company, Disney, they might be able to grant you access by arranging a personal invitation or scheduling an official visit. Don’t be shy about reaching out to those contacts – they might just be your ticket into Pixar’s magical world.

2. Participate in Charity Auctions and Events:

Pixar occasionally participates in charity events and auctions where they offer private tours as coveted prizes. By attending one of these events and making a donation at the auction, you get the chance to win exclusive access while contributing to a worthy cause. Information about upcoming auctions and charity events can typically be found on Pixar’s website or social media channels, so make sure to keep an eye out for upcoming opportunities.

3. Attend Special Public Events or Open Houses:

While rare, Pixar has been known to host periodic open houses or special public events that offer guided tours of their campus. These occasions usually coincide with the celebration of important milestones or anniversaries for the studio or its films. To stay informed about these exclusive events, follow Pixar’s official website and social media channels closely for announcements and details on how to register for a chance to get a glimpse inside the walls of this animation powerhouse.

Conclusion:

While it can be challenging to find your way into the creative hub of Pixar Studios, the three options outlined above offer potential routes for fans and enthusiasts alike. Utilize your professional connections, participate in charity auctions, or stay vigilant about announcements for exclusive public events. With persistence and some luck, you just might find yourself on a guided tour through the halls of Pixar, experiencing the magic up close and personal.

Information

In 1919, Chinese investors built Western Canning Co. at 1250 Park Avenue. It was a network of brick buildings that stretched several blocks from Emery Street all the way to Hollis.

Considered a modern plant by the standards of the era, the 5-acre facility had an employee cafeteria, locker room, a medical station and a nursery.

This plant was the largest cannery in California. As many as 1,500 employees worked 12 hour shifts, operating 24 hours a day during the canning season.

In 1921, Western Canning was purchased for $1 million by Virden Packing Co. In 1927 the plant was sold once again to the California Packing Co. (CPC). It was thereafter known as Plant No. 35, one of the many Del Monte plants in the Bay Area.

CPC, which marketed under the Del Monte label, canned millions of cases of cherries, pears, apricots, tomatoes, and peaches in these vast buildings.

Work at the plant was segregated by gender. Female employees were involved in the canning process, while the male employees maintained the machinery. Female employees wore white uniforms resembling a nurse with a hat to cover their hair.

Working conditions were less than ideal. Female employees, after handling fruit and submerging their hands in water all day, often had the experience of skin sloughing off on their fingers. The grueling work often required being on one’s feet for 12 hours a day.

Plant No. 35 provided a vital service during World War II by producing an immense quantity of canned goods for both the home front and the armed forces. CPC was officially renamed Del Monte in1967.

The rising popularity of frozen foods in the 1960s caused a decline in canned food sales. Many of California’s urban canneries became obsolete and were forced to close. When the gates of Plant No. 35 closed in 1989, it was the last cannery operating in the Bay Area.

The plant was razed in 1992 and briefly considered by Kaiser to relocate their Oakland Hospital before being acquired by Pixar who had outgrown their Richmond studio.

Pixar is now the cities largest employer with over 1,000 employees.

The following Conditions of Sale and Terms of Guarantee, as amended by any posted notices or announcements during the auction and in addition to the Term of Use for Charitybuzz.com, are Charitybuzz, LLC and the Seller’s entire agreement with the purchaser and any bidders relative to the property listed in this lot.

The Conditions of Sale, Terms of Guarantee, the glossary, if any, and all other contents of this lot are subject to amendment by us by the posting of such amendments on the Charitybuzz website (www.charitybuzz.com). The property will be offered by us as agent for the Seller, unless the lot indicates otherwise.

All auction bidders and buy now purchasers understand that these Conditions of Sale set the terms and conditions upon which this lot is offered. Your participation through bidding, purchase and/or registration constitutes acknowledgement and agreement to be contractually bound by these terms and conditions, including agreement to pay the buyer’s premium, and all other fees and charges listed herein.

A buyer’s premium is the additional charge on the auction hammer price or winning bid, which is paid by the winner. Buyer’s premiums on Charitybuzz currently range from 15%–20%, based on the final hammer price of the auction lot as follows:

20% up to $50,000 15% above $50,000

Charitybuzz reserves the right to change these calculations at any time.

Prospective bidders should inspect the lot page for an item before bidding to determine its condition, size, and whether or not it has been repaired or restored. If that information is not available on the site, prospective bidders assume the responsibility of contacting Charitybuzz to inquire for additional details.

Each Bidder’s decision to bid and determination of their bid amount should be based upon their own examination of the item(s) in question. In any purchase or sale, the estimated value of the item(s) is reflected by the price. The bidder hereby assumes all risks of valuation concerning any and all purchases.

We reserve the right to withdraw any lot before, during and after the sale and shall have no liability whatsoever for such a withdrawal.

All items are sold AS IS, WHERE IS with all faults without any representations or warranties by us or the Seller as to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, the correctness of the e-catalogue or other description of the physical condition, size, quality, rarity, important, medium, frame, provenance, exhibitions, literature, or historical relevance. No statement anywhere, whether oral or written, whether made in on Charitybuzz.com, an advertisement, a lot receipt, or elsewhere, shall be deemed such a warranty, representation or assumption of liability. We and the Seller make no representations and warranties, express or implied, as to whether the purchaser acquires any copyrights, including but not limited to, any reproduction rights in any property.

We and the Seller are not responsible for errors and omissions on Charitybuzz.com, glossary, or any supplemental material. Charitybuzz will not be responsible or liable for damage to frames and glass coverings, regardless of the cause. ALL SALES ARE FINAL.

A. Entering Bids

To bid, find a lot page, enter a value in the bid box, and click “Bid.” If you click “Bid” on a lot, you will be prompted to either log in to your Charitybuzz account, or create a new one if you do not have one already.

Once you’ve created an account you will be presented with the lot details, conditions of sale, and standard shipping and redemption details. Once you have accepted the Conditions of Sale, you may proceed with placing a bid on that lot. All bids placed for any lot are governed by the Conditions of Sale for that lot.

You may bid at or above the starting bid displayed as the “Current Price” in a lot page’s bid box. The current leading bid, along with a list of a lot’s full bidding history, will be visible to other users. If the status of your bid changes, you will receive notifications via email and push (if you have the Charitybuzz App installed).

B. Cancellation Rights

As soon you place and confirm your bid amount, your bid is submitted. You accept and agree that bids submitted by you are final. Charitybuzz is not responsible or liable for any problems, delays, or other issues resulting from the use of the Internet, including but not limited to transmission, execution, or processing of Bids.

Charitybuzz nor the Seller is responsible for any errors in bidding. A bidder should make certain to bid on the correct lot. The Bidder should make sure the bid price they enter (including any taxes or fees) is the price they are willing and able to pay. Once the hammer has fallen and Charitybuzz has announced the winning Bidder, that Bidder is unconditionally bound to pay for that lot, even if the Bidder has made an error.

A bid(s) entered by mistake on the part of a bidder is NOT grounds for cancellation of that bid. Each bidder is responsible for his or her own account and bids. In addition, allowing access to another who enters a bid without your knowledge is NOT grounds for cancellation of a bid.

C. Fraudulent Bidding

All Bidders must meet Charitybuzz’s qualifications to bid. Any Bidder who is not a client in good standing of Charitybuzz may be disqualified at Charitybuzz’s sole discretion and will not be awarded lots. Such determination may be made by Charitybuzz in its sole discretion, at any time prior to, during, or even after the close of the Auction. Charitybuzz reserves the right to exclude any person from the auction.

Bids will not be accepted from minor persons under eighteen (18) years of age without a parent’s written consent containing an acknowledgement of the conditions herein and indicating their agreement to be bound thereby on behalf of the bidder.

If an entity places a bid, then the person executing the bid on behalf of the entity agrees to personally guarantee payment for any successful bid.

Any bidder that represents a purchaser is personally and individually responsible for any obligations of the purchaser set forth in these terms and conditions. All purchasers purchasing pursuant to a valid resale license will need to provide appropriate documentation for removal of state sales tax.

D. Winning & Disputes

The successful bidder is the highest bidder acknowledged by Charitybuzz. In the event of any dispute between bidders, or in the event of doubt on Charitybuzz’s part as to the validity of any bid, Charitybuzz will have final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the lot in question. If any dispute arises after the sale, Charitybuzz’s sale record is conclusive. While Charitybuzz makes every effort to guarantee accuracy, in the event of an error, and a lot is accidentally declared sold by mistake, Charitybuzz reserves the right to cancel the sale and relist the lot in its sole discretion.

By accepting the Conditions of Sale, Bidder personally and unconditionally guarantees payment.

Title to any lot remains with the Seller, any secured party of the Seller, or assignee of Seller, as the case may be, until the lot is paid for in full by the Bidder. Charitybuzz reserves the right to require payment in full before delivering any lot to the successful bidder.

A maximum bid is a secret amount you enter, that represents the maximum amount you are willing to bid. It is higher than the current price and also higher than the next allowable minimum bid amount. If you enter a maximum bid, we’ll bid on your behalf up to that maximum bid amount in response to other bids, according to Charitybuzz’s bidding tiers.

The value and status of your maximum bid will be visible only to you, unless it is the leading bid.

Charitybuzz strongly encourages the use of Max Bids to increase your chances of winning.

When an auction reaches the final 10 minutes before it closes, any bids received in that final 10 minutes push out the previous close time by an additional 10 minutes. This recurring 10 minute extension is known as “Extended Bidding,” and is signified by a banner above the auction timer on the lot page.

This dynamically extending period is designed to protect against a practice commonly known as “sniping” or “last second bidding” where bidders attempt to enter a quick bid in the final seconds of an auction to secure a win before competing bidders have a chance to counter.

Live bids lots are a special type of auction lot on Charitybuzz. Live bid lots on Charitybuzz are paired with a real world, physical auction, where that real world auction is often scheduled to occur at a later date. You can distinguish Live Bid lots by the “Live Bid” label in the title of the lot, and additional description text at the start of the lots “Overview” tab.

In a Live Bid lot on Charitybuzz, a lot is created that is similar to any other auction lot on the site. These special lots last for similar amounts of time and bidding occurs normally by our users.

Things start to differ after a Charitybuzz Live Bid lot closes. After it closes and the winning bidder is chosen, that winning bidder’s bid amount or (if it exists) the max bid amount associated with that winning bid, are taken and entered into the associated real world auction. For example, if a bidder on Charitybuzz wins at $12,000 with an unrealized max bid of $15,000, then that $15,000 dollar amount is passed on into the real world auction.

Before the winning bidders bid or max bid amount is passed on, someone from Charitybuzz contacts that winner after the Charitybuzz lot closes and before the real world auction opens. This is to confirm if the bidder would like to increase their bid or max bid amount before it’s entered into the real world auction.

What happens during the real world auction? Each individual one may vary. Charitybuzz does not own or operate any real world auctions, nor does Charitybuzz require any partners to follow a specific auction model. We make no claims to the consistency of real world auction experiences and encourage bidders to contact us for more details as needed.

In our experience, real world auctions tied to Charitybuzz Live Bid lots are typically executed by our partners in a few common ways.

In one scenario, if an auction house and an auctioneer is present, winning live bids from Charitybuzz Live Bid lots are treated as “absentee” bids. This normally means that the Charitybuzz winning bid is placed in the auctioneers books as a bid. As the auctioneer conducts the auction, they will bring up and enter the Charitybuzz winning bid during the course of the auction as the current price or next minimum bid value approaches the Charitybuzz winner’s bid amount. In this scenario, other people in the real world room are expected to bid against the auctioneer, not the Charitybuzz winning bidder. If no one is bidding in the room, the auctioneer will typically keep bidding up the price until the Charitybuzz Live Bid winner wins the real world auction.

In other models, an audience member (including, but not limited to a charity partner employee) might act as a proxy for the winning Charitybuzz bidder. They will usually bid on behalf of the winning Charitybuzz Live Bid winner during the normal course of that auction, using whatever means provided for that auction house (i.e. paddles, etc.)

After the auction is completed, someone from Charitybuzz contacts our bidder to let them know the outcome. If that Charitybuzz Live Bid bidder has won, payment occurs as usual. If that Charitybuzz Live Bid bidder did not win, they will be notified accordingly.

A reserve bid is a bid placed by Charitybuzz on behalf of the seller up to the minimum reserve (if applicable). Bids placed by Charitybuzz on behalf of the seller up to the amount of the reserve, will be counted toward the total bid count displayed on the lot page’s bid box.

Refunds are rewarded on a case by case basis and at the sole discretion of Charitybuzz, LLC.

Experiences auctioned on Charitybuzz.com go through a specific redemption process to coordinate details and complete. That process normally involves messaging and scheduling between all parties (i.e. winners, charities, sellers, venues). Details discussed include but are not limited to experience dates, arrival procedures, airfare, hotel accommodations, restrictions, will-call requirements, and any other on-site notes. Scheduling requires an initial request sent by the customer, and a followup confirmation submitted by relevant redemption contacts.

By using Charitybuzz to bid and win lots, bidders agree to use the Redemption Center exclusively (where enabled) to message and schedule all experiences – doing so is a requirement of redeeming experiences through Charitybuzz. In addition, bidders agree that they are bound by all site terms of use and auction conditions of sale.

The minimum processing and handling charge for this item is $9.95.

Getting your item - Items will either be shipped directly from Charitybuzz or from the item seller (Third Party) as indicated. Items shipping from Charitybuzz will be sent within five business days of payment settlement by the winning bidder. All third party items will be shipped within the times indicated on the lot page. Winning bidders should ensure the desired shipping address is provided to Charitybuzz within 24 hours after payment settlement. Charitybuzz will default to the shipping address listed on the winning bidder’s account unless otherwise notified. Please see FAQs for more information.

Items that require signature - Items with a sale price of $1,000 and above are typically shipped with signature required.

Tickets & Certificates - For hard copies of tickets and certificates, the minimum shipping, handling, and applicable insurance charge is $14.95. Tickets, certificates, and vouchers, unless otherwise specified, will be shipped via professional carrier with standard ground service. In some cases, tickets will be left at the venue's "Will Call" window under the winner's name. Merchandise is insured for the winning amount.

Merchandise - The minimum shipping charge for merchandise is $19.95. (Shipments outside the U.S. are subject to additional shipping and customs fees.) Merchandise, unless otherwise specified, will be shipped via professional carrier with standard ground service. Oversized items may require special delivery arrangements, which Charitybuzz will coordinate between the winning bidder and the selected freight carrier. All merchandise is insured for the winning amount.

Will Call Pickups - In some cases, tickets will be left at the venue’s “Will Call” window under the winner’s name. Winning bidders may be required to submit the names of attendees up to several weeks ahead of the event. A valid photo ID for each person listed at Will Call is often required. When available, Charitybuzz will attempt to provide an onsite point of contact, but makes no guarantee that this information will be available for any given lot. Will Call tickets are typically available at the Will Call window at least an hour before the event, unless otherwise specified. The Will Call window is usually located near the venue's main entrance.

After winning - Detailed redemption information will be emailed to the winning bidder. Redemption contact information will be emailed to the winning bidder within two business days of payment settlement by the winning bidder. The redemption contact will work with the winning bidder to fulfill the lot within the appearance times, time constraints, event dates or locations, and other particulars listed in the lot details.

Does your experience require tickets? - Tickets for experiences are shipped to the winner. Please see “How Shipping Works ” above for shipping details for tickets.

Scheduling your experience - Specifics vary per lot. Most experiences found on Charitybuzz are scheduled through our new Redemption Center, allowing you one-stop access to scheduling and communication tools to redeem your experience. Get started today: Create a Redemption Center account. Scheduling for lots outside of the Redemption Center will occur via the preferred communication method of the redemption contact (email or phone), as indicated by the redemption email sent within 48 hours of payment settlement by the winning bidder.

Getting to the experience - Specifics vary per lot. Details will be included for those lots with travel segments included. Experiences with travel often involve… (i.e. prebooked flight, .) Coordinate with your redemption contact directly. If you are a VIP member with Charitybuzz, contact your rep for more information.

During the experience - Specifics vary per lot. Work with your redemption contact to define the details before departing.

After the experience - Specifics vary per lot. All done with your experience? Let us know how it went.

Processing - The minimum processing fee for experiences is $9.95, unless otherwise excluded. For example, lots that include a buyer’s premium do not have this minimum processing fee of $9.95.

Pixar Studios Tour – Inside Look at Pixar HQ

  • California / In the City / North America
  • 11 Comments

The Friday we arrived in the Bay Area, we went to visit the Pixar Animation Studios. Nick Pitera gave us a fantastic tour and more insight on the behind the scenes process. We were already impressed by Pixar’s work, but now we have even more of a respect and appreciation for what they do. They redecorated their campus for their latest release, so when we arrived, we were greeted by Sully and Mike!

The real life version of monster's university campus. our visit at pixar. pixar animation studios tour. pixar animation studios tours. pixar studios. pixar emeryville.

They’ve done an amazing job with balancing the secrecy of their future projects, but still making it visually fun for guests by having art galleries and displays. Although they don’t allow photos in the majority of the studio, we had the chance to see the long process and intricate and clever details of the making of Monsters University . I also loved that they had a community garden on their campus. If I worked at Pixar, I would totally use it!

A special thanks to Nick for showing us around. If you don’t already know who he is, here’s his original claim to fame . He’ll be releasing an EP soon called Stairways! #hearton

What is your favorite Pixar movie of all time? Mine is still Up. I cry every single time I watch the first 10 mins. Also, I’m trying something different with the photo galleries on each post. I’m trying to limit myself to 5 photos per post, so that you don’t have to scroll through twenty something photos if you want a quick read. But there’s more photos for those who are here for the photos. What do you guys think?

I post about international travel on Travel Tuesdays.

What an amazing experience, that looks like a lot of fun…I’m from Mexico and I will have a study trip to San Francisco con June 20-26, with a few classmates of my Master Class in Stanford and we are looking to have visits to different companies. I’m a huge fan of Cartoons and animation and because of that I’m really interested in trying to get a tour in to Pixar Studios on June 24-26.

I will really appreciate if you have any contact which I could get in touch in order to make this dream come true. Regards!

incredible! I would love to tour Pixar some day. Oh, and I just took a 30 minute detour browsing through all of Nick’s youtube video… I’m amazed by his voice! If there was no video, I would swear the songs were sung by different people

You totally should! And isn’t he amazing?! That’s what he told us.. nobody believed him that he sang everything by himself until he put up a video as proof.

agh! i love all the pixar movies. i feel like it’s so hard to just pick 1 fav, but mine’s probably Monster’s Inc for it’s pure creativity. I remember so many random lines from that film like, when Mike Wazowski tells his new girlfriend, “ever since I laid ‘eye’ on you” (bwahahha.. kills me everytime). or how pixar always captures little details like when mike puts on his one contact on his eyeball, his jaw drops involuntarily (like he cannot control opening his mouth when he is opening his eye). when i saw that i immediately recognized it because i do that too when i put in contacts! lol. so funny.

i haven’t seen monster’s univ. yet, have you?

yes i have!!! you need to see it!! i think i like it better than the original. :) there is SO MUCH in the details. I feel like i need to go back and watch it again because I probably missed a lot. so the guy, nick, who took us on the tour is apparently in charge of the redesign / drawing or whatever magic they do to all the signage in the movie so that it’s relevant to other countries and cultures? When they release the movies in other cultures, the signs are in their language. i had no idea pixar did this! maybe I should watch the korean version…

no way!! i had no idea! that is so cool. is that guy nick a friend or is he some assigned tour guide at pixar? do you need an invite to tour?

i dont know why we’re having convos on here instead of IRL..

haha! he’s a friend of jacob’s through youtube.. cuz he’s also a youtuber. omg you should watch his video i linked. he has a crazy amazing voice!

Really frickin’ jealous that you guys got to visit the Pixar Studios!! (I think Paul is too) Up and Ratatouille (duh!) are my favorite Pixar movies. Digging the new post layout with the five photos and option to see more. Though I’m always happy to scroll through your photos :)

Thanks, girl! :) Just trying something different. I haven’t seen ratatouille in a while.. I should tell Jacob I wanna watch it!

mine is also UP! and then close second is The Incredibles.

I think I like them in that same order too! haha And then maybe the toy stories or ratatouille. i can’t decide!

Inside the Pixar Animation Studio at Emeryville

Pixar Animation Studios is one of the most successful animation studios in the film industry, known for its groundbreaking animated films that have captured audiences of all ages. The studio is located in Emeryville, California, a city in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Pixar was founded in 1979 by George Lucas as the Graphics Group, a division of Lucasfilm that was focused on computer graphics. The company was later purchased by Steve Jobs in 1986, who renamed it Pixar Animation Studios and made it an independent company.

The company’s early years were marked by a focus on computer graphics technology, which was sill in its infancy at the time. Pixar produced a number of short films and commercials using the technology, and in 1995 released its first full-length feature film, Toy Story.

Toy Story was a commercial and critical success, and marked the beginning of a string of successful films for the studio. Over the next two decades, Pixar released a number of beloved films, including A Bug’s Life (1998), Finding Nemo (2003), and The Incredibles (2004).

In 2006, Pixar was acquired by The Walt Disney Company, but has continued to operate as a separate division within the company. The studio has continued to produce successful films under the Disney banner, including Up (2009), Inside Out (2015), and Coco (2017).

Pixar’s headquarters are located in Emeryville, California, a city in the San Francisco Bay Area. The studio’s campus includes a number of buildings, including a main building that houses the company’s offices and production facilities.

While Pixar does not offer public tours of its facilities, the company has become known for its unique and collaborative work environment. The studio’s employees, known as “Pixarians,” come from a variety of backgrounds and work together to create the studio’s films.

In addition to producing films, Pixar has also been involved in a number of philanthropic efforts. The company has raised millions of dollars for charity through initiatives like the Pixar-thon, a 24-hour movie marathon held by the studio to benefit various nonprofit organizations.

Pixar Animation Studios has had a tremendous impact on the film industry, producing some of the most beloved and successful animated films of all time. With its headquarters in Emeryville, the studio continues to be a major presence in the Bay Area and beyond.

Can You Tour Pixar Studios In Emeryville?

Unfortunately, it is not possible for the public to tour the Pixar Studios in Emeryville. The studio is closed for tours due to production demands and confidentiality issues. Therefore, the general public cannot visit the facility and see the behind-the-scenes of their animation process. Despite the studio’s popularity and the curiosity of many people to visit, the policy of no tours remains in place.

Why Is Pixar In Emeryville?

Pixar is located in Emeryville because it was looking for a place with developable land that was centrally located around the Bay. Emeryville fit the bill perfectly in terms of its location and availability of land. Additionally, the company had outgrown its previous facilities and needed a lot more space to support its rapidly-expanding team. Despite building a new facility in Point Richmond, it was still not enough to accommodate the company’s growth. Therefore, Pixar decided to move to Emeryville, which was able to provide the necessary space for the company to continue expanding.

Where Is The Pixar Campus Located?

The Pixar campus is located at 1200 Park Avenue in Emeryville, California. The campus is situated in the Communications district of Emeryville, which is easily accessible via major highways and public transportation. The location is known for its vibrant and creative community, with many other entertainment and tech companies also located in the area. Their headquarters in Emeryville, California, serves as a hub for their creative endeavors, and while the public cannot tour the facility, their impact on the entertainment industry is undeniable. With a long list of award-winning films and a dedication to innovation, it’s clear that Pixar Emeryville will continue to captivate audiences for years to come.
