The enchantment of Latin superstar Sebastián Yatra's "Dharma Tour" continues as the chart-topping singer, songwriter, Oscar-performing, multi-instrumentalist travels by bus across North America bringing a captivating 22-song set, that is passionate, musical, electric and full of dancing, supporting his chart-topping, multi-platinum album "Dharma."

The global artist opens up to fans and shares a deeper look into his creative vision for the buzzed-about 90-minute show. He also shares the honest and sometimes grueling tour demands in a new Amazon Music episode of "The Tour Diaries" filmed at a recent sold-out arena stop in Buenos Aires.

The genre-versatile music orchestrator brings to life many emotions on the Dharma tour performing Oscar-nominated "Dos Oruguitas," (which arrived last week with the release of a new version by legendary pianist Lang Lang for his upcoming Disney album), the current mega-hit "Tacones Rojos," 8x platinum hit "Pareja del Año", 4x platinum smash "Chica Ideal", and a heart-pulling new piano ballad "Contigo" from the new "Dharma+" deluxe album.

How Sebastián Yatra Turned the Dharma World Tour Into His Most Powerful Concerts to Date

As part of e’s backstage pass, sebastián yatra gave fans a glimpse into how he created his biggest tour yet. “i’m just happy and excited to share it with everybody,” he said..

At Sebastián Yatra 's concerts, every detail matters.

When planning the Dharma World Tour, the 27-year-old singer wanted to be involved with the entire process. Between collaborating with the band, choreographers, dancers and stylists, Sebastián spent hours behind the scenes making sure everything was perfect. Now, fans around the world are going to see the hard work pay off. 

"I'm a person that gives my 1,000 percent at every show," Sebastián exclusively shared with E! News. "But the cool thing about these new shows is it's with a new level of consciousness and that's what Dharma means."

After kicking off the tour in February, the Grammy nominee is proud to have created a show "that I'm a fan of." And after taking his time planning the show from beginning to end, Sebastián is confident that his headlining tour will be worth the wait.

"I feel like maybe in my past shows, what was going on inside of my heart was more the result of things than the enjoyment of it," he shared. "Now that I'm present, I'm really paying attention a lot more to the details….Now I'm really taking that time to tell the story of the show and actually build a very beautiful show that goes through all these different emotions that we feel as people."

In just a couple of weeks, Sebastián's mission is already coming to fruition. He's already seen a variety of emotions from concert attendees including excitement and even some tears. 

"An all-around experience for me is super important with my show," he said. "I feel like it is all-around experience."

And with several tour stops  throughout the United States starting in August, it's not too late to experience the moments for yourself. "When you come to the Dharma tour, you're not going to come to see me," he said. "You're going to come to watch yourself reflected in all these different states, which we go through every day."

In February,  Sebastián Yatra kicked off his  Dharma World Tour  produced by Live Nation. Several stops are planned through December.

On Oct 8, Sebastián took his tour to the United Palace in New York. According to an audience member, fans from around the world watched the singer perform his biggest hits including "Robarte Un Beso." And yes, he managed to pull off four outfit changes during the show. 

Throughout the tour, Sebastián will work with stylist  Daniela Gutiérrez on an assortment of fashionable looks. "I get involved in the sense that I'm like, ‘I like this, I don't like this. I like this. Let's go in this direction,'" he told E! News. "I want to trust and have people that are great at what they do. I let them guide me as well. Obviously I have my taste in it, but it's a huge team effort and we're all motivated and happy with what we come up with." 

Sebastián admits his outfit choices can help tell a story while on stage. As he explained, "I really like how all the moments are being portrayed with the clothes because in the end, the clothes are just a form of expression." 

No matter where you see Sebastián live, the singer has one goal for concertgoers. "I hope that you live more than a show," he shared, "but an interactive experience in something where you feel and reflect and leave loving life just a little bit more than before you came inside."

Before taking the stage, Sebastián can be found backstage warming up his hands on the piano and guitar. "I'm also warming up my voice and my body with dancers," he added. "There are so many elements in this show that it's all about preparing everything with the team including a sound check before."

After meeting with fans before the show, Sebastián makes it a priority to enjoy a few minutes to himself. "I try to have 15 minutes to myself just to not think about anything, just prepare for all that energy that I'm going to receive," he said. "It's a beautiful experience." 

How does an artist relax in the middle of a jam-packed tour schedule? Sebastián has some ideas. "A way that I unwind is yoga. Meditation helps me out. I started zooming with a psychologist five or six months ago and that helped me out a lot," he said. "Reading, staying in touch with family and the people I love and just being honest with myself." 

Throughout the tour, Sebastián hopes to follow a certain mindset. "I used to go after my dreams and chase after my dreams, but that never helped me because my dreams aren't here with me," he explained. "They are so far away. It's like anticipating happiness or anticipating what I'm going to want in the future. I know what I love and what direction I want to go towards but I'm following my heart. My heart's with me right here and it helps me stay present and it helps me enjoy what's happening right now in this very moment."

Sebastián Yatra announced new North American tour dates, as an additional leg of his Dharma World Tour. Spanning 22 dates across the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada, the tour launches on August 25 in Houston, TX and ends on November 12 in San Juan, PR.

Yatra is currently touring in support of his chart-topping third studio album, Dharma , which was released in January. The album finds the bilingual star blending a range of influences, including reggaeton, rock, and flamenco.

“It’s fun for me because if you listen to my music and you listen to ‘Dharma,’ I don’t sing any genre. I just sing songs, and I jump around from rhythm to rhythm, genre to genre. There’s like a punk rock song that’s very, like, Blink-182 in the album with Aitana from Spain,” Yatra told NPR.

The influential Latin artist has also found immense success with his song, “Dos Oruguitas,” from the soundtrack for Disney’s popular animated film, Encanto . He has since been nominated for an Oscar, in the category for Best Original Song, alongside writer Lin-Manuel Miranda.

Last September, Yatra teamed up with another highly-respected talent, Elvis Costello , to reimagine the latter artist’s “Big Tears” in Spanish (freshly-titled “Llorar.”) The song was recorded for Costello’s Spanish Model , which found some of today’s hottest Latin stars, including Juanes, Luis Fonsi, and Nina Diaz reinterpreting Costello’s 1978 album with the Attractions, This Year’s Model.

“I listened to Elvis Costello’s music thanks to my parents,” Yatra said in an earlier statement. “My voice sounds very different than in my other songs. It’s more rock, it helped me to get more confident and not to be scared of screaming or to let out my rawer side. I felt it was very beautiful to sing this in Spanish. I want to thank Elvis for having written this song.”

That sense of confidence will certainly follow Yatra throughout his tour, while fans can expect to hear the star’s biggest hits, including new songs from Dharma .

4. Colombia in the house

Yes, there were people of all ages and different nationalities, but there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing Colombians supporting their own artists. The Yatra and MTZ concert gathered tons of proud Colombians in one room, most of them flaunting their yellow soccer jerseys, flags, and/or sombreros Vueltiao.

3. Manuel Turizo and Julian Turizo brought fam goals

Opening act Manuel Turizo took the stage with his older brother, Julian, and gave us major family goals throughout their entire show. While performing songs such as “Una Lady Como Tu,” “Vaina Loca,” and “Culpables,” concertgoers could feel their undeniable bond in the venue.

2. There’s a live band

Who doesn’t love a live band? Expect this during Sebastian Yatra’s show, who was able to bring a cool rock-and-roll twist to his urban songs, such as with the sultry “Sutra.”

A live band and group of dancers are not the only thing Yatra has to offer. The Colombian singer really brings emotion to each and every one of his songs. You can tell from the jumping up and down, ripping his shirt open and joining his fans on the floor that Yatra is really enjoying his show. (Oh, and you have to see his soulful interpretation of Bad Bunny’s “Amorfoda.”)

This was a terrible experience. Truly a waste of VIP priced tickets. We traveled from far away for a 9pm show on a Tuesday. Sebastian Yatra had no business making us wait until well after midnight for him to show up. The venue, which was actually staffed with incredibly nice security, must have doubled their drink prices for this event (they were not bad drinks, just way over priced).

Queens, NY has a huge, diverse community of Latinos, so it makes a lot of sense for him to have a release party there, instead of Manhattan for example. But for us to wait more than three hours, without an apology from him (and we could clearly see that he was updating his instagram stories with footage of him gallivanting in NYC) or updates from the venue, is disrespectful. I purchased his album the minute it was released (and continue to love it, even though it reminds me of how thoughtless and entitled he must be to do this to the audience).

Shortly after midnight (so three hours of standing in the VIP section waiting), I took a video of the crowd, all of whom were tired, slumped over, yawning, impatient, and disappointed, we left. A more mature, thoughtful, caring artist would never do that to their fans. He should be ashamed.

Cuando lo vi no me gusto, no canto muy bien, no fue un show de primera para el costo de las entradas en vivo.... hay de los cantantes que em vivo cantan mucho mejor en vivo q en grabacion d estudio y los he escuchado ,Definitivamente SEBASTIAM YATRA No es de esos Artistas. DESAFINA hace cantar mas al publico y desafino horrible ... pero se supone q debes prepararte que debes ensayar y no fue solo una vez. Sino varias.Me quedo con sus grabacione de Estudio. EN concierto YA NO.no lo vale.

I love Sebastian sooo much! The concert was amazing despite the fact that it was delayed for like an hour because of some technical difficulties. I recommend going 100%, you will have a great time with your friends if you go with them.

In merely three years since Sebastian Yatra burst onto the global music stage, he has quickly risen to the top of the charts leaving an indelible mark on the industry and fans alike. He has captured the hearts of fans across Latin America and the world by bringing Spanish ballads back to the mainstream, and is considered one of the most talented songwriters of his generation.

It was 2016 when the Colombian native was a relatively unknown 20-year-old and he released his first single, “Traiconera.” The hit would take the world by storm and quickly landed Yatra on Spotify’s Global Top 50 Chart and clocked over  76 million combined streams  along with 5 Diamond and 29 Platinum records internationally. The megahit would eventually be one of the tracks on Yatra’s 2018 debut album, “Mantra,” which won a host of international awards, nominations and certifications which led to a hugely successful world tour that made 100 stops in 17 countries and was attended by over 500,000 spectators.

Both “Mantra” and his sophomore album, “Fantasia,” both debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Latin Pop albums chart in the US and are both certified 2X Platino by the RIAA. Yatra has already received three Latin GRAMMY nominations and considered by fans and critics alike as the most successful Latin Pop breakout star in recent times and one of the fastest-growing Latin touring artists in the United States, Latin America and Spain after selling out shows at some of the most prestigious venues, including Luna Park in Argentina and The Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City for his first solo concert within a few weeks.

The Colombian superstar has captured the attention of the media for his interpretative quality and has managed to stand out thanks to his great vocal talent, and musical borders that go from urban to pop genres with the same credibility. With over 6 billion streams combined, Yatra has also amassed a considerable following online, with more than 15 million followers and fans.

Yatra has collaborated with several internationally musical stars, like One Republic, Sheppard, Alejandro Fernández, Carlos Vives, Milow, Halsey, Tini Stoessel, David Bisbal and Ivete Sangalo, among many others.

But there is no question that 2019 may be Yatra’s most standout year to-date, pushing him even further into the spotlight. He was named one of the most acclaimed artists at the 2019 Viña del Mar Festival, receiving a Platinum and Gold “Gaviota” Recognition. He’s written a song, “En Guerra,” for Pope Francis’ Scholas Foundation in Colombia where Yatra serves as an ambassador. And most recently, Yatra attended the UEFA Champions Festival in Madrid where he performed, and it was the first time in the festival’s history that Latin artists were invited to participate.

Sebastián Yatra opens his first headlining US tour in Sugar Land

The last time Sebastián Yatra performed in Houston, he was opening for Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias.

"There's a lot of Mexicans, there's a lot of Latin people going to the shows. But there are also a lot of Americans that are in love with our culture," he says.

 Yatra returns this week as a headliner. He kicks off his Dharma North American Tour with a show Thursday at Smart Financial Centre at Sugar Land. Yatra has toured the world, including Spain, Mexico and his native Colombia. But this is his first time traveling the U.S. as the main attraction.

"It's more excitement than nerves," he says of the anticipation. I don't really know what's going to go on. And I love Texas. The food's amazing. Every time I go there, I've got to get some barbecue."

This has proven to be the biggest year yet for Yatra. He was selected by Lin Manuel Miranda to sing the song "Dos Oruguitas," used in am emotional flashback scene in the Disney film "Encanto." The plaintive ballad earned an Oscar nomination and was Yatra's first entry on the Billboard Hot 100. He performed it at this year's Oscars telecast for almost 17 million viewers, an experience he calls "life-changing."

""I was there representing the 600 million Spanish-speaking people in the world," he says. "It's a lifelong experience, a lifelong feeling. It's something that was so intense emotionally that I can go back to it at any given moment and remember exactly what I was feeling. It's insane. It's like a one-in-a-billion thing."

Though it deserved the win, "Dos Origuitas" lost to Billie Eilish's "No Time to Die." Yatra, however, took solace in another wow moment. At the ceremony, he was seated next to Dixson, who co-wrote "Be Alive" with Beyonce for the film "King Richard." Suddenly, he was in the presence of pop and hip-hop royalty.

"Two people come sit down, and it's Beyonce and Jay-Z. In my head, I was just like, 'Play it cool, play it cool.' She's super nice. She told my mom she looked extremely young, 'You cannot be his mom'," Yatra says. "It's beautiful when you see someone that's such a big star is also such a nice human being. She transmits a lot of beautiful things."

Yatra also released his third album, "Dharma," earlier this year. It's songs have racked up billions of streams and features heartfelt ballads, reggaeton and collaborations with Jonas Brothers and John Legend. He was just nominated for four Billboard Latin Music Awards, including song, Latin pop artist, solo Latin pop song and Latin pop album of the year.

Yatra says his previous albums featured "romanticized" versions of things he saw in movies. This time, he's drawing from real-life experience that he hopes to bring to life in a way that resonates with fans.

Dancing onstage : I have my weird way of dancing. I built the show around that, not pretending to be a professional dancer or anything. The dancers are so great, and the choreography is so cool. They help me out a bunch so that it all fits in.

""I wanted to do a show about you and not about me," Yatra says. "'Dharma' the album, and my music in general, have never been categorized by just one genre. There's a lot of things to play with for the live versions of the songs. It's a show that takes you from happiness to sadness to something sexy to nostalgia, even deep into fears and unresolved things. It's accepting our reality, that's what dharma means."

What is ‘Akureyri’ and Where Is it: Aitana & Sebastián Yatra’s New Song

It's not just a random word: it's the name of a city in iceland.

It’s finally happening! After seven months of keeping us in suspense, Aitana is making a big comeback with «Akureyri,» her highly anticipated return to the music scene. But that’s not all: she’s teamed up with her partner (or maybe ex?) to release this new song. «Akureyri,» the title of her latest track, is a collaboration with Sebastián Yatra . This isn’t the first time they’ve worked together; it’s actually their third song, following «Corazón Sin Vida» and «Las Dudas.» The chemistry between these two has been clear for a while now.

But what exactly is ‘Akureyri’? Well, it’s not just a random word—it’s the name of a city in Iceland. It’s a small town with about 19,000 people, located in the northern part of the country. And fun fact: it’s a popular tourist destination, with visitors going there every year to explore the area.

Moreover, many tourists head to the city to engage in various activities offered in the area, such as whale watching, catching a glimpse of the Northern Lights, and exploring the nearby waterfalls. There’s plenty to do when you’re in that region.

What Does This City Mean to Aitana?

Although she didn’t directly mention Akureyri, a few days ago, before teasing a part of the song, she wrote about the significance of Iceland to her: “Iceland remains in my memories as the place where I enjoyed and learned the most with my family. I knew I would come back, and I feel like I will return more; it’s beautiful to turn 24 here.”

In fact, back in June 2023, Aitana went back to the city with Sebastián Yatra to celebrate her birthday. It was her first time celebrating with 24 hours of daylight because during the summer there’s hardly any night in that part of the world. And when it came to shooting the music video, the couple returned to Akureyri. This time, they got to experience what the city is like during the winter season, despite the chilly temperatures.

Aitana and Sebastián Yatra might be giving a nod to a popular romantic movie from the early 2000s. In the cover picture, both artists are lying in the snow, seen from above, and close together. It reminds us of the poster for Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind from 2004. This movie, starring Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, has also been referenced by Ariana Grande in her music video for «We Can’t Be Friends.»

It seems like it’s not a coincidence that they wanted to reference this 2004 movie. In the film, the main characters decide to erase their memories of each other after their breakup. But, as fate would have it, they end up crossing paths again .

Aitana and Yatra were together from late 2022 to November 2023 , and now they’ve been seen holding hands again in Madrid this March, sparking rumors of a reunion. Have they forgotten what caused their split?

Para anunciar la noticia, han compartido un breve adelanto donde se les ve inmersos en el estudio de grabación, con Yatra tocando algunos acordes de guitarra. Esta será la tercera colaboración entre los artistas, tras Corazón sin vida y Las dudas. Después de que unas fotografías los mostraran paseando de la mano por las calles de Madrid, confirmando su reconciliación tras cinco meses separados, esta colaboración era el siguiente paso esperado.

Es evidente que Islandia dejó una huella imborrable en Aitana , quien apenas hace cuatro días insinuaba este lanzamiento con un video del impresionante paisaje nórdico y un mensaje revelador: "He decidido regresar donde fui tan feliz”.

Fue precisamente el viaje a Islandia lo que avivó los rumores sobre una reconciliación entre la pareja, quienes anunciaron su separación a finales de noviembre después de casi un año juntos.

Además, luego de una gira internacional exitosa, Aitana está inmersa en la creación de nuevas canciones mientras se prepara para su Alpha Tour. Hay una en particular que desató euforia y agotó entradas en solo 72 horas: la programada para el 28 de diciembre de 2024 en el flamante estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
