Travel Blue launches “Our Blue Way” sustainability initiative

With this program, Travel Blue Group will become the most sustainable lifestyle travel accessories company in the world

Travel Blue Group has launched its mission to lead sustainability in the global travel retail accessories market with its initiative, Our Blue Way .

With this program, Travel Blue Group will become the most sustainable lifestyle travel accessories company in the world. Over 50% of products sold this year will be made from recycled or recyclable material and this will increase as technology develops.

“ Our Blue Way represents a big step change in building our future business,” says Managing Director, Daniel Levin. “We have always led the way with recycling. Twenty-five years ago we were the first and only company to use recycled cardboard packaging whilst others used plastic. We were also the first to use soy-based ink and are leading the way again, extending our sustainability philosophy further and as rapidly as possible. We are fully committed and will raise the bar for the industry.”

At TFWA Cannes last year, Travel Blue Group showcased some of its new recycled and recyclable products. Travel Blue neck pillows are now made with a 94% recycled cover, 100% recyclable foam and 100% recycled packaging. The pillows look and feel identical, just as supportive and comfortable as they have always been.

“All our trade partners are delighted we are making this move. Despite the higher cost of recycled materials, we will not increase prices to our customers and clients – we believe it is a vital development for the market and our contribution to the environment. This is an ongoing commitment and as technology improves and new solutions present themselves, we will adapt more of our products.

“We received an excellent reception at TFWA Cannes last year and now we are fully launching the initiative under the Our Blue Way banner. There is scope to grow the category and we will do this in a genuine and responsible way.

“We are a customer driven business. We work hard and create category-leading products and offer top quality levels of service. We also understand today’s travelers who believe in the importance of environmental responsibility and sustainability and make informed purchasing decisions,” adds Levin.

Launched in 1987, Travel Blue Group is a family-owned business and its core values are innovation, the environment and social responsibility. Daniel Levin took over as Managing Director from the Group’s Founder, Avi Levin, who stepped down in 2022 after 35 years of building the travel accessories business.

Travel Blue amplifies sustainability commitment with ‘Our Blue Way’

More than 50% of the firm’s products sold in 2023 will be made from recycled or recyclable material, it reports, with a plan to increase this percentage as technology develops.

“Our Blue Way represents a big step change in building our future business,” stated Travel Blue Group Managing Director Daniel Levin. “We have always led the way with recycling; 25 years ago we were the first and only company to use recycled cardboard packaging while others used plastic.

“We were also the first to use soy-based ink and are leading the way again, extending our sustainability philosophy further and as rapidly as possible. We are fully committed and will raise the bar for the industry.”

Responsible category growth

Visitors to the Travel Blue stand at last year’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes were greeted by some of the company’s new recycled and recyclable products such as its neck pillows, which feature a 94% recycled cover, 100% recyclable foam and 100% recycled packaging.

Launched in 1987 by Founder Avi Levin, family owned Travel Blue Group places environmental and social responsibility at the heart of its operations.

Daniel took over the reins to the business from his father Avi in 2022 after the latter stepped down following a distinguished 35 years’ service in growing the company.

I bought an inflatable travel pillow from cochin Airport on way to UK because my old one sprung a leak. It didn't work as the air stopper kept popping out. When I got to UK I emailed them about this, they requested a photo of the problem, along with photo of the label, and full contact details, and within 10 days I got a replacement. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy their products again!

In my recent experience, they have THE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE!! My daughter had an issue with the zipper on her airplane pillow and they sent a replacement almost immediately. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy their products again!

Very responsive and responsible company.

We bought a small $15.00 combination lock for our suitcase in Singapore. When we got home, we discovered that it did not work. I was fairly certain that for such an item, I would never be able to fid a responsible party, and certainly never be able to remedy the situation. But in fact, it was easy to find TravelBlue, and amazingly, they not only responded quickly to my inquiry but immediately sent out a replacement lock!

It was a wonderful experience with Travel Blue. I bought a neck pillow from the Hyderabad airport and after using one hour it leaked. I was so upset and wrote immediately to travel blue. I got the response very fast and they assured me that they would replace it. After a week only I received a replacement with a complimentary extra pillow. Terrible quality products, company is uncontactable

Bought a $30 backpack at the airport. Stitching is all askew and as soon as I put a couple of things into the backpack, holes spread. Contacted the company for repair/replacement but they don't respond back. Don't buy anything from Travel-blue.

More than 140 of the company’s products are now sustainable

Travel Blue Group has accelerated the expansion of its sustainability initiative, Our Blue Way , with more than 140 sustainable products.

The company’s adapters, power banks and cables are now made using recycled plastic and cables using wheat straw biopolymer, a renewable and sustainable plastic alternative. Wheat straw material is extremely durable and biodegradable and leaves behind no toxic substance.

Travel Blue Group’s textile items, including money belts, folding bags, bags and eye masks are now produced from recycled materials, extending the sustainable range.

A new collection of high-performance, reusable, stainless steel water bottles has also been introduced, as the company supports its customers with alternatives to single use plastic bottles.

Travel Blue Group Managing Director, Daniel Levin said: “Our original plan was to convert 100 products this year, increasing to 120 next year and 140 by 2025. We are delighted with our rapid progress and have already achieved our 2025 goal. Our Blue Way has a triple eco-friendly benefit, offering products that are recycled, recyclable and reducing the use of plastic. The cost of making sustainable products is clearly higher, however, as part of our commitment to Our Blue Way, we are absorbing the additional cost. This is our contribution to sustainability.”

Our Blue Way was launched in April 2023 when the company announced its travel pillows are made of recycled and recyclable materials. Eight of the 10 largest duty free operators quickly embraced the initiative and now stock products from the sustainable range.

Levin continued: “Our customers supported Our Blue Way at launch and continue to buy into the expanding sustainable portfolio. Our Blue Way will be a central focus at TFWA Cannes and a great opportunity to immerse customers in our mission and the evolution and innovation of our products.”

Travel Blue Group used recycled cardboard packaging 25 years ago, whilst others used plastic. The business says it was also the first to use soy-based ink. It is now committed to Our Blue Way and converting as many products as fast as possible, absorbing the additional cost.
