Before his rumored romance with Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce turned to reality TV to find love.
The 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs tight end completed one season of his very own dating show, “Catching Kelce,” in 2016.
“It was kind of like ‘The Bachelor,’ except instead of roses I handed out footballs,” he told unfamiliar audiences during his “Saturday Night Live” monologue in March.
“And instead of watching, people did not. It was a little embarrassing, but I got really good at reality TV.”
It comes as no surprise that the show’s end goal of finding forever love didn’t work out, as Kelce is in his Swift era, but it’s worth looking back on the business venture he’d rather forget all about.
What was “Catching Kelce”?
“Catching Kelce” was Travis Kelce’s reality dating show on the E! Network.
The “Bachelor”-esque show premiered in 2016 with 50 women from 50 states competing to win Kelce’s heart.
The show included participants taking part in challenges and dates, all centered around what it would be like to be involved with a professional athlete.
Did anyone win?
Yes. Maya Benberry of Kentucky was the lucky woman Kelce chose to date after the show.
However, the pair lasted only five months in the real world before breaking up.
Benberry accused Kelce of cheating on her with sports broadcaster and model Kayla Nicole, who the two-time Super Bowl champ went on to date on and off from 2017 to May 2022.
Benberry recently warned Swift to be aware of Kelce’s alleged infidelity.
Can you watch “Catching Kelce”?
If this sounds like a good time, interested viewers can stream “Catching Kelce” for themselves on Peacock .
The series is also available to purchase on Amazon Prime Video .
How does Travis Kelce feel about the show now?
Kelce is, well, usually less than willing to discuss the dating show, as heard on his podcast “New Heights,” which he hosts with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce.
Last month, Travis recalled one night filming the show when he felt bad for the women competing for his heart due to inclement weather.
“They were just shivering in between takes. The one girl was crying, and everyone assumed that was watching the show she was crying because she got eliminated. But she was crying [because] she was so cold.”
“That was electric, yeah. What a time,” Travis said, moving the conversation along. “Let’s all forget about it.”

The 15 Best Dating Shows to Watch As Cuffing Season Approaches
Including The Bachelor and beyond
90 Day Fiancé
While it’s not exactly a competition show, the cast of 90 Day Fiancé are most definitely in competition with each other, the concept of love itself, the American justice system, and maybe even the viewer’s sanity. Each season introduces a fresh crop of “90-day visa” hopefuls who met on trips abroad, or Facebook, or sometimes have never met at all. It’s a wild look into just how far some will go to find love … or get on a reality television show!
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way
If 90 Day Fiancé is a wild look at the lengths people will go to for love, its equally popular spin-off The Other Way is downright baffling. Whether their visa application has been rejected by the U.S. government or they’re convinced there’s a better life for them abroad, these couples chase their dreams under the shadow of the Great Pyramids, in the heat of the Moroccan countryside, and even deep in the Amazonian rainforest. While each season guarantees a whirlwind of drama and romance, it’s never quite clear where they’re going, or how they might get there.
Are You the One?
The cult-classic MTV dating show is back, with a new home on Paramount+ and a fresh set of singles paired by the show’s mysterious matchmaking algorithm. As in the original series, contestants try to suss out the so-called “perfect matches” in weekly “matching ceremonies.” It’s fun, it’s sexy, and season eight is a perfect storm of gay mess that was landmark television at its time for its inclusion of queer people into the format.
Celebs Go Dating
There’s something comforting to me about the antics of Z-list British celebrities and influencers looking for love on E4’s Celebs Go Dating . It’s about as straightforward as the title suggests. Each season, desperate celeb singles join an exclusive dating agency and are sent on dates, cocktail mixers, and more in their quest for some semblance of love and intimacy. Most of the time, I have no idea who they are or what they’re famous for—save a few familiar Love Island faces—but that’s half the fun of it!
Dating Around
Dating Around has probably the most simple premise of the bunch: People go on dates. There are no arcane rule sets to follow, eliminations, dramatic cast member reveals, or prize money to be had for these single people. It’s poignant and infuriating and surprising, and has caused me to change my dating profiles on more than one occasion!
The Bachelor franchise
The titan of the reality dating competition world is still going strong. It’s been on so long, it’s older than many of the contestants that make the yearly pilgrimage to the Bachelor Mansion in hopes of landing a HelloFresh sponsorship deal. Many, like myself, prefer the original Bachelor , if only because the thought of watching a dozen men talk amongst themselves in a room gives me hives. Still, there’s plenty to enjoy about The Bachelorette , including Charity Lawson’s recent foray into polyamory on season 20. Better yet, producers are shaking up the format with The Golden Bachelor later this month, which will see a cast of exclusively 60- to 75-year-olds pursue “golden Bachelor” Gerry Turner.
Indian Matchmaking
Matchmaker Sima Taparia, or Sima Aunty, is on a quest to link together the couples of the world. Her methods, though, are bizarre, and at times it feels as if she’d rather everyone stay single. That’s half the appeal of the show that captivated the internet when it premiered in the grip of the 2020 quarantine season. Her track record is so bad, in fact, that the show had a 0 percent success rate for its first few seasons. Thankfully, that didn’t stop the antics of Sima Aunty and her stable of singles from being excessively binge-able.
Jewish Matchmaking
Matchmaker Aleeza Ben Shalom’s claim to fame is over 200 couples she’s walked to the altar, alongside a 20-year marriage and five children, which she brings up as proof of her acumen. The religious angle to the show also adds a surprising depth to an otherwise played-out formula, allowing for some real moments of startling clarity.
Love Is Blind
Love Is Blind is arguably the crown jewel in Netflix’s lineup of dating reality shows. Fans and critics alike are compelled by its relatively simple premise and the drama it provokes among its contestants. Each season follows a new group of men and women tasked with finding love among people whose faces they can’t see, an unintentional quarantine-style setup likely responsible for the show’s popularity. Those who are matched in the “pods” are then tasked with living their lives as married couples, first on a honeymoon-style vacation and then in apartments. To make matters more complicated, each season focuses (with exceptions) on a single city, meaning the family and friends of each couple are around to mingle and interfere. More recently, contestants on the show have spoken up about their treatment and its premise, and we’re eager to see if—and how—Netflix handled those accusations for season five.
Love Island (U.K.)
Can I pull you for a chat? Everyone knows about Love Island , and probably loves it too, even if they’ve never seen a single episode. The U.K. dating show juggernaut just wrapped up its 10th season and is, by all accounts, more popular than ever. Fan favorites like Moira Rose, Ekin-Su, Kaz Kwami, and Amber Rose Gill have all gone on to successful careers post-villa, no thanks to the nearly 50-episode-long seasons. While shallow at first glance, our collective eight-week summer vacation in Mallorca is, at times, surprisingly insightful about generational attitudes toward love, intimacy, sex, and what exactly the “ick” is. There’s a U.S.-based spin-off that’s taken a few seasons to find its legs, but if reviews of its current season are anything to go by, there’s never been a better time to dive into the cool waters of Fiji, or Mallorca, or wherever it is they fly these hot people next season!
Love on the Spectrum
Love on the Spectrum has two iterations, one in Australia and one Stateside, and they are both equally revelatory in their poignant, compelling approaches to the dating-show format. Where other offerings on this list might center drama and conflict as protagonists, Love on the Spectrum genuinely feels like an earnest quest for love in a world that is so often isolating. You’ll find yourself genuinely invested in the outcomes of the cast’s various dating excursions, and heartbroken when something promising falls apart. Despite the frequent lows, the highs are equally exhilarating, and make any iteration of Love on the Spectrum well worth the watch.
Married at First Sight
Married at First Sight is perhaps the most polarizing show on this list. Love it or hate it, the lives of people who would willingly get married to someone they’ve never seen before in their life make for fantastic television. For the uninitiated, the premise is right on the package! Various people get matched, and then married, after never having seen each other before in their lives. Better yet, it boasts a success rate of 17 percent … which is better than nothing, right?
MILF Manor was 2023’s sleeper-hit competition show. Its format is genuinely mind-melting, with young men brought into a house to find love with older women … except their moms come with them. This means that while one pursues a so-called “MILF,” the “MILF” he came with is also on the hunt for a chance at love. Well, perhaps not love, but certainly intimacy and human connection! At times it’s almost too cringey, but that’s why we love these shows, right?
The Courtship
The Courtship flew under the radar, which still surprises me given the wild premise. Seattle-based software engineer Nicole Rémy is sick of the modern dating landscape, and so is “transported” to Regency-era England, where she is eagerly awaited by 16 eligible suitors. It has mismatched costumes, a “court” ruled over by her real-life family members, and Bridgerton inspired set pieces, and an “elimination ball” in lieu of a rose ceremony or straightforward elimination.
The Ultimatum: Queer Love
The Ultimatum: Queer Love nearly broke gay Twitter in half with the antics of the most bizarre assemblage of contestants ever cast on a reality dating competition show. What was Mal thinking when Yoly so openly pursued Xander, who was clearly in the midst of an emotional crisis at the expense of long-term partner Vanessa, who had her own emotional insecurities and tendencies to work on, lest she drag Lexi and the rest of the cast down with her? It was fascinating television, and just about all we could talk about to anyone who would listen for weeks. While Queer Love was more easily captivating, the most recent season of the mainline franchise inspired quite a few heated exchanges in the group chat.

Here’s what to know about the show’s future.
Will There Be a Season 2 of ‘Match Me Abroad’?
On August 14, Deadline reported that TLC had officially renewed Match Me Abroad for season 2. Season 1’s premiere garnered “16.4 million viewers across TLC, Max, and discovery+,” turning Match Me Abroad into TLC’s top new show for the year, according to the report.
“On Sunday, August 6, TLC was No. 1 in all of television among women 25-54 and women 18-49. Match Me Abroad earned a season high among adults and women 25-54, including a 1.13 L3 rating among women 25-54 and a 0.84 L3 rating among Adults 25-54 for its season finale episode,” the report continued.
When Will ‘Match Me Abroad’ Season 2 Premiere?
TLC has not yet announced a premiere date for Match Me Abroad season 2. Since the season 1 finale just aired in August, it will likely be several months before fans can tune into season 2.
Who Is in the Cast of ‘Match Me Abroad’ Season 2?
The cast of Match Me Abroad season 2 has not yet been revealed. However, it’s possible TLC will bring back the first season’s matchmakers, Katarina Měmcová, Juan Nino and Nina Kharoufeh. Alternatively, the show could feature matchmakers in different countries and cities, since season 1 only featured Prague, Colombia and Morocco.
What Happened in ‘Match Me Abroad’ Season 1?
Match Me Abroad season 1 featured seven singles — Harold, Michelle, Susan, Nathaly, Chad, Stanika and Mark. In Prague, Katarina worked with New Mexico native Harold and North Carolina native Michelle . Both singles clicked well with their European matches, Michaela and Pavol, respectively.
Meanwhile, Juan took New York native Susan, California native Nathaly and Tennessee native Chad under his wing in Colombia. After struggling to find a man who fit her wants and needs, Susan fell for Mauricio and went on multiple dates with him. Nathaly loved that her match, Alejandro, was able to be vulnerable, but she was wary when he claimed he could talk to angels. Chad, on the other hand, was completely smitten with his dream girl, Maria, from the start and even asked her to marry him after their second date. Unfortunately, Maria didn’t feel the same way .
Over in Morocco, Nina worked with Arizona native Mark and Mississippi native Stanika. While Mark didn’t have much luck with his matches, Stanika immediately hit it off with Noureddine , and their relationship moved quickly.
Those who want to check out Match Me Abroad season 1 ahead of the new installment can watch on discovery+ and Max.

Where to Watch Travis Kelce's Dating Show, Catching Kelce
Years before he started dating Taylor Swift, the Kansas City Chiefs player was looking for love on TV.
Long before Travis Kelce's whirlwind relationship with Taylor Swift , he was looking for love on reality TV.

What to know about Travis Kelce's dating show, Catching Kelce
Catching Kelce sees Kelce looking for potential love amidst 50 women, each representing an American state. Over the course of the show's seven episodes, he gets to know the women more, eliminating them weekly until he finds The One.
“It was kind of like The Bachelor, except instead of roses, I handed out footballs,'' Kelce joked about the show during his opening monologue while hosting Saturday Night Live in March 2023.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's romance
Kelce didn't find love on Catching Kelce, but he's since found it with pop icon Taylor Swift.
Rumors that he and Swift were together started when she was seen at his football games in fall 2023. The two have been inseparable ever since.
In a November 2023 interview with Wall Street Journal Magazine , Kelce opened up about how the spark between him and the ''Lover'' singer originated.
“When I met her in New York, we had already kind of been talking, so I knew we could have a nice dinner and, like, a conversation, and what goes from there will go from there,'' he told the outlet.
Swift opened up about the relationship in TIME magazine , saying, “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell. We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other. By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date."
She added, “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care. The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”

'Match Me Abroad' Looks for Overseas Love Connections for a Man with 3 Failed Engagement and Another with Autism
American singles will travel to Colombia, Morocco and the Czech Republic for love — and rejection — in TLC's latest matchmaking series
Kelly Wynne has been a TV writer at PEOPLE digital since 2021. Her work has been seen in Newsweek, where she acted as a reality TV and true-crime writer, Atwood Magazine and her mental health blog, The Chronically.
Single Americans are turning their sights out of the country for true love on TLC's latest dating show Match Me Abroad .
PEOPLE exclusive first trailer for the series shows new hopefuls ready to give up entirely on looking for love ... at least, until they decide to take their pursuits globally.
"Dating in the United States, that s--- makes me tired. My picker's broken — have somebody pick for me," says single Susan.
From California to North Carolina, the hopeless–turned–hopeful romantics will pack their things for just one more shot at love — no matter where in the world it will take them. But not every date will be a good date, as the Americans find "players," "rejection" and a "waste of time" in some of their encounters.
Still, it's better than the alternative. "I've been engaged three times. All three of 'em has failed," shares Chad. "I believe Colombian women respect marriage more than American women. So, I chose a matchmaker to help me find someone."
Like beloved TLC shows past, Match Me Abroad won't only focus on love. Each single's personal life — including skeptical family and friends — will be part of the story as they search the world for their other half. "Why you gotta go to Morocco to find love?" one of Stanika's family members asks her.
The way it all works: three global matchmakers will help the Americans transition to life in Colombia, Morocco and the Czech Republic as they open their hearts to new strangers. The clients are wildly different from one another — and even include an autistic man named Harold who lacks confidence in his social interactions. "I love you, and if you love me, that would be great," he says to one woman, before pulling out an engagement ring.
Here's a look at season 1's matchmakers, and six hopefuls.
Nina Kharoufeh
Matchmaker Nina grew up in Jersey, but has turned her life to helping Arabs meet Americans. In Morocco, the Palestinian woman is considered "undefeated" in her ability to bring great matches together.
Under Nina's care, 32-year-old Stanika is moving from Mississippi to Morocco where she hopes to meet her first-ever boyfriend. TLC says Stanika is hoping to find someone who "appreciates her sense of humor and boisterous personality."
This American sports broadcaster will turn to Nina for guidance to find a Moroccan wife. As Mark has been career driven, all of his friends have settled down — and he's finally ready to put work on hold to prioritize finding his own family.
Juan Manuel Niño
This Colombian matchmaker not only matches his clients with other singles, but helps them build confidence in their personal identities. He combines love with self-improvement and will task three Americans to find their match.
New Yorker Susan (and her dog, Calliope) are on their way to Colombia to find her Latin lover. The 52-year-old has one non-negotiable on her list: a man with a full head of hair.
This 25-year-old Californian is stepping out on her own for the first time, where she may find culture clashes as she leaves behind her conservative Sri Lankan family.
Chad, 38, has been engaged three times — and thinks American women are the problem. His ultimate goal? Find a bride and bring her back home where he lives with his mom and dogs.
Katarína Němcová
The Prague based matchmaker boasts an 80 percent success rate in making long-lasting couples.
An artist from New Mexico, 41-year-old Harold is just adjusting to living on his own. That isn't stopping him from traveling to Prague in search of a partner. Harold, who has Autism, hopes to find a Czech woman to fall in love with — and share his rock collection with.
This 34-year-old North Carolina native comes from Czech roots, and her journey to Prague is as much about her heritage as it is about her love story. Michelle presents a unique challenge to her matchmaker: she's a self-assured "feminist princess" who's "challenging to find a man who doesn't want to play the antiquated gender roles," TLC says.

Hellish Hauntings Summon Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman Back to the Underworld for a Brand-New Season of Portals to Hell
Premiering Saturday, April 9 on Travel Channel and discovery+
There’s hell to pay, and Jack Osbourne and Katrina Weidman are on a mission to find out why. The intrepid paranormal investigators team up again for an all-new season of PORTALS TO HELL , as they’re led to haunted locales where sinister spirits display a vendetta against anyone in their presence. Season Three, premiering Saturday, April 9 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Travel Channel and streaming the same day on discovery+, will feature 13 hour-long episodes .
There is no Casper or friendly ghosts here. The deeper the history the deeper the haunting. Exploring the shadowy corners of Detroit’s Eloise Psychiatric Hospital, the historic Savannah Theatre, Staten Island, New York’s Kreischer Mansion, Philadelphia’s Fort Mifflin and the infamous Missouri State Penitentiary, among others, Osbourne and Weidman confront disturbing activity and malevolent entities that have left those that crossed their path shaking in fear. Using their paranormal expertise, advanced scientific equipment and a network of specialists, including a team of psychic mediums, the duo search for evidence and answers as to who, or what, is wreaking such havoc on the living.
“This is a creepy AF new season, twisted and wildly unexpected,” said Osbourne. “The locations were bottled up with activity that hit us almost immediately. The vibes were dark and tense, and there were many times when I was seriously scared of what we might encounter.”
“These places had an intense energy you could feel the minute you walked in,” added Weidman. “Just being inside some of these buildings elicited an unexplainable physical discomfort. So many of the locations this season are just eerie and unnerving.”
In the season opener, Osbourne and Weidman travel to New Castle, Pennsylvania, home to Hill View Manor – a shuttered nursing home where former patients are rumored to live on after death. The sprawling complex has almost as many spirits as it does rooms. Constant reports of scratching, chronic dizziness and shadow apparitions have turned the building’s new owner, Carrie, from a paranormal skeptic into a full-blown believer. With her original plans to turn the property into condos no longer viable, she is hoping Osbourne and Weidman can figure out what exactly is going on within Hill View’s walls. But to get to the bottom of what’s feeding the manor’s dark forces, the duo will first have to face the Creeper – a malevolent shadow creature bent on scaring the living hell out of its victims.
