Before we delve into the different courses that allow you to work in a travel agency, let's start by highlighting the fact that no diploma is required if you want to open your own agency or work in one. What is the scope of intervention of a professional?

On a daily basis, the activities of a travel agent are diverse and varied, so much so that the professional will rarely have time to get bored during their days, provided their agency is running properly. These tasks can be very different from one company to another. WARMINGTON: GiveSendGo brightens Peterborough store clerk's dark time Back to video

And it could not have come a better time for Tejeshwar Kalia, who has been short on luck so far in 2024.

The bad news was GoFundMe cancelled the Peterborough store clerk’s crowdfunding campaign after it had raised $16,000 to help him battle his self-defence case and pay rent, food and school expenses.

The good news is that there is a crowd-funding competitor called GiveSendGo and its co-founder has reached out to the international student from India to try to help him.

“I had seen a Twitter/X story about how GoFundMe shut his campaign down and just shot an email to the email address they shared letting them know GiveSendGo was available for them to fundraise if they needed it,” Jacob Wells tells the Toronto Sun , who ended his email to me with the uplifting words “shine brightly.”

In desperate need of such help, Kalia’s friend has now set up a campaign on the Christian and Freedom based GiveSendGo platform.

The 22-year-old was struck twice in the back of the head by a robber on Jan. 5 at a Circle K store but found himself charged with aggravated assault after getting the bat away from the attacker and allegedly striking him twice.

While Kalia has maintained he acted in self-defence, Peterborough Police feel it was vigilante justice. A jury will decide.

In the meantime, Kalia is out on bail and under house arrest – he can’t work, has no money, and the five pals from India he shares an apartment with are all graduating in May from Sir Sanford Fleming College and leaving town, which means Kalia could end up homeless.

If sent back to jail as a result, h e could end up serving more time than the actual attacker, Jonathan Handel, who was convicted of robbery after pleading guilty earlier this month and received an 18-month sentence, which with time served has less than 14 months remaining.

Only $10 has been raised so far on the new GiveSendGo page. But the goal is to try to regain the momentum he had with GoFundMe.

But with GiveSendGo stepping up, the hope is this effort will take off like it did the first time and Kalia will be given a fighting chance in a country that has not been very nice to him.

Wells told me: “O nce they begin sharing it and it gains some traction, we can potentially put it on the main page.”

I first heard of GiveSendGo, started by Wells and his sister Heather Wilson, during the Freedom Convoy in 2022 when people trying to assist the trucker’s turned their way to donate once the fundraising effort at GoFundme was halted. GiveSendGo came close to matching the $10 million raised by GoFundMe but was forced to return the money once a court order prevented it from accepting any more donations.

It has been hard for Kalia’s family back home to come to grips that they sent him to such a dangerous place with a heartless system that charges the person attacked with even more vigour than the armed attacker.

If two surgeries after the bat attack, criminal charges and losing his job was not enough, the surprise GoFundMe cancellation has dealt him yet another blow.

GoFundMe has yet to respond to an email with questions about why the fundraiser for Umar Zameer – charged but later acquitted of first-degree murder in the death Const. Jeffrey Northrup – met company guidelines but Kalia’s aggravated assault charge didn’t.

Needless to say it was a welcomed development that GiveSendGo stepped up. Somehow, Kalia has told me he still loves Canada and Peterborough.

“ I am deeply touched by the overwhelming support I have received from each and every one of you during this difficult time,” he said. “Your generosity and unwavering belief in me have been a source of immense strength as I continue to navigate the challenges ahead.”

Hopefully the sun will shine on him once again.
