The day is finally confirmed! Apple sent invitations to media and the world, offering an exclusive look at upcoming devices for the spring. Long rumored, but still unofficially confirmed, new iPad Pro hardware is expected to be announced by Tim Cook and team at the May 7 streamed experience.

Thanks to the creative and high quality work of iDB Wallpapers of the Week regularly featured graphic artist @ AR72014 , we have these first three backgrounds. Taking the primary invitation logo and placing it on a minimal white background showcases simplicity can be the best presentation.

Two additional wallpapers take a blurred crop on the same invitation logo, which for me make great Home Screen options to still give attention to your app icons.

I purchased the M1 iMac and M1 iPad Pro model on launch day. The 2021 iPad Pro has become my go-to computing device for lite loads, like blogging, wallpaper scavenging, and media consumption. Set Different Wallpapers on iPhone Lock Screen and Home Screen

On iPhone and iPad Lock Screens, you can change the font and style of the clock, add widgets, and apply dynamic weather and astronomy wallpapers. What some users might not know is that you can also set a completely different Home Screen wallpaper to the one that appears on the Lock Screen. Keep reading to learn how it's done.

• Unlock your ‌‌iPhone‌‌ or ‌iPad‌ with Face ID or Touch ID , then press and hold on the screen until the wallpaper gallery appears.
• Swipe to a previously customized wallpaper, then tap Customize .

• Double tap the Color and Gradient buttons to access color swatches for the background, or tap the Photos button to select another image.
• If you selected a new image, you can swipe to preview filters, Pinch to Crop the image, and tap the ellipsis button to apply the Depth effect option as desired.
• Tap Done in the top-right corner. Note that you can also Blur the image if you want.

Note that you can customize the current Lock Screen and ‌Home Screen‌ selection at any time: Simply invoke the gallery view from the Lock Screen with a long press, tap Customize , then select Lock Screen or Home Screen . Alternatively, you can edit wallpaper pairs by going into Settings -> Wallpaper and swiping between wallpapers in your gallery and customizing them.

Apple announces special event for may 7: ‘let loose’.

Apple has announced a special event for May 7, teasing “Let Loose.” The event will be online and take place at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET. It’s expected to focus on new iPad hardware and accessories, with a new iPad Pro, iPad Air, Apple Pencil, and Magic Keyboard all rumored.

Apple Event confirmed for May 7

The Apple event on May 7 appears like it will be completely virtual, similar to the “Scary fast” event that was held in October. All the invites from Apple indicate that people will be able to watch online, and no one has received an invitation to an in-person event.

When you refresh the Apple.com homepage, you get a different version of the invite artwork each time:

The main artwork for the “Let Loose” invite is a clear indication that a new Apple Pencil is on the way, showing an Apple Pencil drawing a colorful Apple logo. According to a few different rumors, the new Apple Pencil could  feature Find My integration,  as well as  magnetically swappable tips  that simulate different writing and drawing instruments.

9to5Mac has also found multiple pieces of evidence suggesting the new Apple Pencil will support a “Squeeze” gesture of some sort.

Meanwhile, we’re also expecting a new iPad Pro lineup, where both the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models will switch to OLED displays. The new iPad Pro designs will also be significantly thinner than their predecessors.

The iPad Air lineup will expand to include a new 12.9-inch form factor for the first time, joining the existing 10.9-inch size. The 12.9-inch model will also use a mini-LED display, according to a surprising last minute rumor twist .

Finally, Apple is also working on an updated Magic Keyboard for the new iPad Pro. The new Magic Keyboard will “make the iPad Pro look more like a laptop and include a sturdier frame with aluminum,” according to  multiple reports.  This will mark the first time that the Magic Keyboard has been updated since its introduction in 2020.

The Andalusian city of Jerez de la Fronera in Southern Spain is steeped in gastronomic culture. Known for its lively tabanco scene, rebellious flamenco, thoroughbred horses, and of course, its fortified sherry wines, the city’s faded grandeur and strong culinary heritage make for the perfect accompaniment to a weekend getaway. Here’s a little guide to exploring Jerez while indulging in the local wine scene.

First, a very quick guide to Sherry

Sherry is a fortified wine produced primarily from the Palomino Fino variety in what is known as the Sherry triangle - the three key towns of Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María in the south of Andalusia. In and out of fashion over the last few hundred years, it can be made in a number of different styles, ranging from dry to sweet, and young to extensively aged in cask. It is typically bottled from a Solera system, meaning that the wines have aged in barrel and received the benefit of continual top ups from younger vintages. The result of such fractional blending is a more balanced wine that contains the freshness of youth and the complexity of age.

The most memorable characteristics of Sherry are the flavours of dried fruit, brine and nuts that can be found in the Fino and Manzanilla categories. This additional flavor comes from a deliberate maturation under a layer of flor, while in the case of Manzanilla, proximity to the ocean during cellaring gives additional salinity. Amontillado and Oloroso Sherries are much richer, and heavier but are increasingly important assets in the world of gastronomy. There is also Palo Cortado, which stylistically floats, somewhat ambiguously, in between. Although much rarer, the best sweet sherries are produced from the Pedro Ximénez grape and its hedonistic, treacle like flavours are a brilliant partner to deserts.

Where to drink

Sherry can be found in almost all of the city’s bars and cafes. In Jerez, the concept of a tabanco dominates the social scene. The word itself, fairly unique to this part of Andalusia, is thought to have originated around the mid 17th century as an amalgamation of ‘estanco’ and ‘tobacco’, meaning a small shop dealing in state controlled produce such as wine and tobacco. Its casual informality provides a brilliant method for following the ambience as it meanders from street to street. Simple, authentic tapas can be impromptu and shift the focus to hanging out and going with the flow. These days you’ll find a lively atmosphere mixed with a relaxed approach to serving bite sized snacks and sherry. If you’re looking to soak up the local vibe, these are the places to check out.

Tabanco San Pablo

Tabanco San Pablo is a rustic tabanco with a traditional look and feel. Historic pictures and adverts capture the agricultural trappings of the surrounding area. Large casks provide a great backdrop and make it clear you’re there to celebrate and enjoy Sherry. It is best known for its Palo Cortados, which are served alongside simple tapas. The atmosphere is lively and upbeat, with live flamenco performances. Essentially, whether you’re passing through or there for the night, it’s a great place to chill out and have a few drinks.

Situated within a short walk of all the key bars and restaurants, it is also next to one of the most beautiful streets in all of Spain, the cobblestoned Calle Ciegos. The great thing about Jerez is that most bodegas (wineries) are very close to the city. Many are walkable from the centre, or at least only a short taxi ride away.
